Tiny-home village offering housing gives homeless people the chance to get back on their feet again

The reasons why people end up being homeless are various. According to The National Homelessness Law Center, the top causes of homelessness are lack of affordable housing, unemployment, poverty, mental illness and lack of needed services, and substance abuse.

Based on a number of reports by different organizations, the number of people who didn’t have roof over their head and experienced homelessness on a given night between 2007 and 2020 is 580,466.

It is very obvious that the country struggles to find a solution for this issue, and a woman named Debbie O’Malley, Bernalillo County Commissioner, seems to have found a way to reduce the number of homeless people.

Her idea of a tiny-home community is now a reality and functions perfectly.

The village of tiny homes was built on an unused lot. Those sharing the homes have their ow bed, a fully-stocked kitchen, and a bathroom.

The project started back in 2016, after the voters at the council approved $2 million bond and was only able to be finished in February of this year all thanks to the help of the community. It took that much time because the team working on the project faced a number of challenges, and that included finding a location. Luckily, the Albuquerque Indian Center agreed to lease their land.

“I hope that people see the story and they see what’s happening and they’re like, ‘You know what, we could support something like this in our community,’” Debbie says.

Those renting the homes are only supposed to pay $30 per month and the idea isn’t for them to stick around for long. Debbie believes that providing the homeless with a place to stay and shower would increase their chances of finding a job and getting back on track.

Prince Harry returns to the States “totally thorn” with emotions after meeting his family at Prince Philip’s funeral

Meeting his family, which he criticized in front of 49.1 million people who have seen his and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, must have been hard for Harry.

Rumors are he was ignored by some of the royals, among which Princess Anne and her family, when he arrived in Britain for his grandfather’s funeral last week.

Meghan didn’t accompanied Harry because she was advised by her doctor not to travel, considering she’s around 7 months pregnant. She, however, made sure she was present through the wreath and the handwritten note that she sent. The wreath was reported to be made out of a number of different flowers, all of which had a special meaning. It included bear’s breeches, the national flower of Greece where Prince Philip was born, sea holly flower, which represented Philip’s long-term service in the Royal Marines, rosemary for remembrance, and plenty of other beautiful flowers.

However, as everyone gathered to pay their respects to the Duke, many watched the funeral to see if William and Harry would speak with one another.

After the ceremony, as they were leaving St. George’s Chapel, the brothers engaged in a conversation. Later on, they met with their father in hopes of trying to fix the broken relationship, but according to reports, Harry wasn’t happy with the unplanned meeting and felt “ambushed,” especially because Meghan wasn’t there, as reported by Radar Online.

Harry returned home to his wife and son a day prior to his grandma’s 95th birthday because he wanted to be by their side.

However, after the meeting with the royals, it was reported by royal expert Paul Burrell, who worked as a butler for late Princess Diana for over 10 years and has known Harry since he was still just a child, that the Duke of Sussex feels thorn.

Shutterstock

“His heart is on two different sides of the Atlantic now. Meghan will be faced with that dilemma – the bombshell that Harry now feels split in two,” Burrel told Closer.

“Seeing his beloved granny, the Queen, and to face his father and brother would not be easy. Even submerging himself back into the House of Windsor and the buildings that hold so many memories.”

Shutterstock

While in Britain, Harry stayed at the Frogmore Cottage, the place where he and Meghan lived before stepping down from their royal duties and leaving UK. So, it is understandable that he was surrounded with a lot of memories that he decided to simply leave behind more than a year ago.

Speaking of Meghan, Butler added, “She will have to figure out what their next steps will be. Those two – from different worlds – are going to have to work it out to align themselves.”

William and Harry will meet again for the statue of late mother Princess Diana which will be unveiled on her birthday.

Wife finds out that husband is having an affair, but her brilliant revenge makes him regret everything.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned is what they say and what goes around comes around.

Turns out this girl’s hubby didn’t get the karma memo.

The below story was posted on Reddit and tells about a husband who gets caught cheating by his wife. She then sends him an unsuspecting letter that really shocks him! If you are looking to be cheered up today then this story is a good read to put you in a good mood!

To my beloved husband,

Before you return from your overseas trip I just want to let you know about the small accident I had with the pick up truck when I turned into the driveway. Fortunately not too bad and I really didn’t get hurt, so please don’t worry too much about me.

I was coming home from Walmart, and when I turned into the driveway I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator instead of the brake. The garage door is slightly bent but the pick up fortunately came to a halt when it bumped into your car.

I am really sorry, but I know with your kind-hearted personality you will forgive me. You know how much I love you and care for you, my sweetheart. I am enclosing a picture for you.

I cannot wait to hold you in my arms again.

Your loving wife.

P.S . Your girlfriend called for you.”

It’s pretty safe to say that the husband was not too upset about his vehicle after he read the last line. I would imagine he would have looked something like the below picture.

Queen Elizabeth changed king George V’s rule and made it possible for William’s youngest child to receive an HRH title

On April 23, the third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Louis Arthur Charles, turned three.

To honor the birthday of the youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, who was born on St George’s Day, the patron saint of England, Kate snapped and shared an incredibly cute photo of Louis riding his bike and getting ready for his first day of nursery school.

Louis got his name after late Prince Philip’s uncle and Prince Charles’ mentor Lord Louis Mountbatten, who was killed in an IRA bombing in 1979.

Although he is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne, Louis is a prince. It was the Queen herself who intervened overwrite king George V’s rule which said that royals too far down the line of succession were no longer entitled to a title. According to Express, it was the Queen’s decision to name William’s firstborn, George, a prince and extend the change to all of Kate and William’s children.

Were it not for Queen Elizabeth, Prince Louis would have been given the honorary title Master Louis Cambridge or Master Louis Windsor.

Source: Instagram/ kensingtonroyal

This rule, however, does not apply for Harry’s children, thus Archie isn’t declared a prince. This was something that obviously bothered the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who accused the royals of not wanting to give their son a title.

Speaking to Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle said: “They didn’t want him to be a prince… which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security.

“We have in tandem the conversation of, ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title.’ And also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” she added.

Archie, however, will become eligible for an HRH title once his grandfather, Prince Charles, accedes the throne.

When he was born, Archie was entitled to the courtesy title Earl of Dumbarton, which his parents refused.

Currently, Meghan and Harry are expecting their second child, a daughter. Many wondered if Harry, who is extremely devoted to keeping his late mother’s memory alive, will name his baby girl Diana. The Sussexes, however, were reported to have said that the name Diana would mean too much pressure on their daughter, as per a Page Six source. “They are highly unlikely to call their daughter Diana. Their biggest concern is that it would make her a bigger target for the media, and considerably increase public interest in the child’s life.”

After 18 miscarriages over 16 years woman gives birth at 48 years old

Louise Warneford from Swindon, England wanted to be a mother for as long as she could remember. So when she met her loving husband Mark in 1999, she knew they would make the perfect family.

They both wanted to be parents really badly, but things didn’t go as planned for this couple. Throughout the 16 years of marriage, Louis had 18 miscarriages. Many would think that after such ordeal one would stop trying, but Louis never thought of giving up on her dream of someone calling her ‘mommy.’

Her determination finally paid off after she gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 48 years old. Sweet William made all the struggle and the huge amount of money spent on IFV worth it.

The treatments were pretty expensive because Mark had undergone a vasectomy during his previous relationship. Louis, however, didn’t have troubles getting pregnant, but she couldn’t carry the babies past 14 weeks into the pregnancy.

“Each time I got my hopes up and thought that ‘this was it’ and I was going to have the perfect family I’d always wanted – I couldn’t stop crying every time I miscarried,” Louise shared with the Daily Mail.

“We decided to try IVF but despite falling pregnant a number of times, we always lost the baby.”

After so many failed pregnancies, the doctors finally discovered the reason why Louis was losing her babies. As it turned out, her own cells were killing the embryos. But now as they tracked down the problem, they could work on finding the solution.

Thankfully, this last time, the pregnancy was a healthy one and it resulted in Louis giving birth to her bundle of joy.

She was over the moon. After that much time, she could finally embrace ‘her whole world’ in her arms.

“When the surgeon handed him to me, I just couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t believe my luck, I still can’t he was beautiful, I felt as if I’d won the lottery,” she told 5 News.

She knows how devastating it can be to be trying to have a child for so many years, but she never lost hope and she wants her story to serve as an inspiration for other couples who are facing the same problem.

We congratulate the happy parents on the new addition to their family!

Batman walks 3-year-old bullied girl to nursery after teachers don’t address the problem

We all know that bullying can negatively affect the victims, sometimes even for life. The sad reality is that not much is done for it to be put to an end at the educational institutions around the country, where it probably takes place more often than at any other place.

Sadly, bullying is also present in nurseries and kindergartens, among children aged 3 and 4, and even younger.

Facebook/Erica Adrianne Calculli

Erica Calculli from Florida noticed how her 3-year-old daughter was getting more and more nervous with each passing day. The bubbly and smiling girl started losing her spark and that worried Erica a great deal. Shortly after sweet Lydia’s behavior changed, Erica learned the horrifying reason behind the girl’s unhappiness.

Namely, Lydia came come with bruises on her face on several occasions, and the girl confessed she was bullied at the nursery school. One day, she also had a bruised eye. “She told me that “a bunch of girls and one boy hit her and a girl threw a shoe at her eye,” Erica told local news station WTSP.

Facebook/Erica Adrianne Calculli

Erica spoke to Lydia’s teachers, but nothing seemed to change. That is when someone special stepped in, someone known as The Dark Knight in the neighborhood. After Erica wrote about her daughter’s problem on the social media, Jack Asbury responded. He knew Erica from before and was more than lucky to dress his Batman costume and take Lydia to school to see if anything will change.

Jack works as an EMT and sometimes wears his Batman costume to cheer up the children from the community.

I made a new friend today. This is Lydia. I was heart broken when I saw her mothers post she was being bullied in…

Posted by The Batman Of Spring Hill on Wednesday, 28 August 2019

When Lydia’s peers saw her entering the nursery walked by Batman, they were both shocked and stunned. He told the kids that Lydia was his best friend and that he would come and visit her again.

“Lydia got a surprise visit at school from The Batman of Spring Hill,” Erica wrote on Facebook. “I really hope she’s more comfortable at school now, and I can’t wait to talk to her when she gets home.”

Posted by The Batman Of Spring Hill on Thursday, 29 August 2019

Luckily, the visit was just the right thing to do as the rest of the kids accepted her and even started calling her their best friend.

Teen helps pay for stranger’s groceries after hearing the cashier telling the elderly man to return some of the products back

We often speak of the importance of offering kindness and a helping hand to those in need, but how many of us are truly willing to step in for someone who is less fortunate or found themselves in trouble?

Teo Jordan is an 18-year-old high school senior who taught us a lesson about humanity and about kindness. This young man doesn’t have a lot of money. In fact, he’s working at his local Kroger grocery store in order to be able to help his family during these tough times for the humanity when the pandemic closed a huge number of work places and left millions jobless and even homeless. He’s also saving for a car.

However, being in a difficult situation himself didn’t prevent him from doing good for a complete stranger who was shopping at the grocery store where he works.

Namely, while on the job, Teo noticed that one of the customers was short of money and couldn’t pay for the products he picked. The cashier told him that he needed to return some of the items back. It was then that Teo decided to give the man the $35 dollars he was missing.

Source: YouTube – WCPO 9

“I just seen I wanted to help the guy. I saw that he didn’t have the money for all the groceries that he wanted. The cashier told him he would have to put some of the thing back so I just thought in my head I would give him this $35 so he could have all the food that he wants,” the young man told WLWT.

It was a beautiful act of kindness that didn’t go unnoticed.

Posted by Teo Jordan on Tuesday, 18 August 2020

Teo’s colleagues praised his action and shared the uplifting story around. When Teo’s mom heard what her son did, she said: “I am proud of Teo. I’m overwhelmed with joy. You try to instill in your kids right and wrong but you don’t know if they comprehend, so yes I’m very proud,” as per WLWT.

Many of the people who stumbled upon the story of kindness and hope offered to give Teo some money for the car he was planning on buying and pay forward to him for his good deed.

His mom set up a GoFundMe page which raised $3,345.

However, that wasn’t all. Teo’s school, Covington Independent Public Schools, posted on their Facebook page that the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority gifted Teo $1,000 to help him with his university expenses.

We are happy the story of Teo’s deed spread around because it serves as a sparkle of positivity during these hard times we are all experiencing.

Meghan Markle and son Archie spoke to the Queen before Prince Philip’s funeral

Although heavily pregnant Meghan Markle wasn’t able to attend the funeral of Prince Philip because she was advised by her physician not to travel and watched the ceremony on television, she still found a way to say her goodbye to the great man she had an awesome relationship with. Meghan sent a wreath and a handwritten note and showed her tribute and respect to The Duke of Edinburgh.

The funeral ceremony itself wasn’t only about honoring the late Duke, as all eyes were also on his grandsons, Harry and William, whose relationship started breaking up following the Megxit when The Sussexes stepped down from their royal duties and moved to the State. The two brothers seemed to get even more estranged after the bombshell interview.

A lot has been revealed and the couple spoke of their relationship with the royal family. Harry said he believed his brother and father were trapped in the system, while Meghan spoke of her suicidal thoughts and even brought up the question of racism within the royals.

It has been revealed by a number of outlets and magazines that Harry met with his father and brother on two separate occasions while in Britain, but not much has been fixed regarding their relationship.

Harry even missed his grandma’s 95th birthday as he decided to return home to Meghan and Archie a day prior to the “scaled-down” celebration.

However, People reported that Meghan reached to the Queen and she and Archie spoke to her before the funeral. She also called Harry every day and “insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn’t wanted him to worry,” but he still wanted to get back to California as soon as possible. “Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week,” the source was reported to have said.

Back in February, Prince Harry told comedian James Corden that his grandparents were using Zoom to communicate with the Sussexes. “They’ve seen Archie running around,” Harry revealed.

William and Harry will meet again in July in order to approve the final design of their late mother’s statue which will be placed in the Sunken Garden, to the east of Kensington Palace. Maybe then, they will find a way to reconcile.

Mom posts pics of her nails on Facebook – gets message that could save her life

Nowadays, in the era of the social networking sites, we are connected as never before.

Having lots of virtual friends, we sometimes tend to share interesting things of our life with them such as anecdotes, photos of places we visit, what we eat, and how we have fun. Oftentimes, we also use these sites to share our thoughts and even ask for help.

A 53-year-old mom named Jean Williams Taylor thought her curved nails looked funny so she decided to post some photos of them online. Little did she know that those photos could save her life.

Jean was never bothered by the way her nails curved because she was certain it was due to genetics. But then, someone posted a comment under her photo saying that she should visit a doctor as her nails were a sign that something serious was happening to her lungs.

After she read the comment she realized that her mom who died of lung cancer had her nails curved as well, but she had no idea those two things were related.

Feeling a bit scared from what she read, Jenny visited the hospital where she was told that her nails condition was knows as “finger clubbing,” “digital clubbing,” or “Hippocratic nails” and in many cases it showed issues with the heart or the lungs.

After doctors ran a number of tests, they discovered that Jean had two tumors the size of golf balls in her lungs.

Although she was concerned by the news, she was also lucky she found about it just in time. If she hadn’t shared the photos online, she would have continued believing it was normal to have such nails and she would have never visited the hospital.

Now she’s sharing her story to serve as a warning for others.

“That feels great,” Jean said. “I have actually got a lot of individuals sending me shares of their nails, however I’m no specialist I have actually just been detected less than 2 days.”

Our body always finds a way to send us a message about a problem we have and the nails are in many cases an indicator.

Whenever you feel something is different regarding your body, always consult a doctor.

Please share this story with your friends. Who knows, you may save someone’s life.

Young man helps grandma at the airport – She has no idea he’s a famous NFL player

Nancee Lingg, 82, found herself exhausted from the long flight after she landed at the Appleton International Airport. As no one was around to help her with her heavy bags, a young man who spotted Nancee offered to lend her a helping hand which she was more than happy to accept.

As the kind stranger carried Nancees luggage out of the plane, a flight attendant told them that someone would be waiting for her with a wheelchair. However, that didn’t happen and both Nancee and the young man could see that all of the wheelchairs were folded up. Luckily, the kind stranger was again more than happy to help the elderly lady. He grabbed a wheelchair and offered to push her. Nancee was so glad she wasn’t left all by herself.

Source: Twitter/Momica

However, she had no idea who the man helping her really was until she met with her granddaughter Teresa Lingg Knuth who recognized the kind stranger as NFL running back Aaron Jones.

His act of kindness didn’t go unnoticed. A woman at the airport that goes by the name Momica on Twitter snapped a photo of the Packers player and shared it with the caption: “Just watched Packers Aaron Jones push a random lady through the Appleton airport because there was no there to push her. GO PACK GO”

Source: Twitter/Teresa Linng Kuuth

Fans went crazy over the player’s action, and Teresa herself commented with a photo of him and Nancee writing it was her grandma he helped.

The Packers coach Mike McCarthy also responded to the tweet with a statement. “I’ll just say about Aaron Jones and our players: I’m thankful that everybody else is getting to see what I get to see pretty much every day. I mean, this is a tremendous locker room. We’ve been very fortunate and blessed with the caliber of character that we have in our locker room,” he wrote.

On Aaron’s social media accounts we can see plenty of photos of him with fans and it looks like he truly is a very grounded man despite being a famous name in the world of sport.

Aaron is the perfect example that no matter who we are, we should never lose the human side of us and be there for people whenever they need help. Way to go Aaron.

Prince Philip’s body will be moved when Queen Elizabeth dies so they can rest together

The funeral ceremony of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, was broadcasted and seen by over 13 million people in UK only. He passed away on April 9, and was laid to rest at the St. George’s Chapel on April 17.

Only 30 of his closest family members and friends were in attendance due to the strict protocols imposed because of the ongoing pandemic.

The Duke’s coffin was lowered into a hidden vault located beneath the chapel. That same location is the resting place of many members of the royalty, among which George III, George IV, George V of Hanover, and William IV. Other royals buried there are Queen Victoria’s father, Prince Edward, George III’s wife Queen Charlotte, and Queen Mary’s grandfather Prince Adolphus, as per Daily Mail.

Prince Philip is the 25th royal to be buried at St. George’s Chapel. However, that is not his permanent resting place.

After Queen Elizabeth dies, Prince Philip’s body would be moved next to hers at the Church’s King George VI Memorial Chapel where the bodies of Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, and mother, Elizabeth, are laid to rest.

The Chapel was added on to the north side of St George’s behind the North Quire Aisle in 1969 after King George VI’s death. The pale stone annex is marked with a black stone slab set into the floor on which the names of Queen Elizabeth’s parents, along with their years of birth and death, are engraved in gold letters.

Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth’s love was truly one of a kind. He was her “strength and stay.” Rest in peace Prince Philip.

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 95th birthday with “scaled-down” event

Due to the passing of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen celebrated her birthday quite differently this year. Few days before the birthday, it was announced that she would spend the day at Windsor in the company of her closest family, but no further details had been revealed.

As described by Bazaar, the event was planned to be “a scaled-down get-together.”

Prince Harry, who arrived to Britain for his grandfather’s funeral and met with his family after over a year, didn’t stay for his grandma’s birthday celebration. He was eager to get back to the States and be with his wife Meghan and son Archie. We, however, believe that the Queen’s children and the rest of her grandchildren and great-grand children were in attendance and by her side on the special day that she marked without her beloved husband of 73 years by her side.

Telegraph reported that even before Prince Philip’s passing, the Queen decided she wouldn’t be marking her birthday in any meaningful way as she planned for the attention to go to the Duke and what was supposed to be his milestone birthday. Prince Philip passed away two months before turning 100.

The traditional gun salutes, which take place at Hyde Park and the Tower of London to mark the queen’s birthday, didn’t happen for a second year in a row. Last year, the tradition took a pause because of the ongoing pandemic, and this year, because of the Duke’s passing.

Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s annual summertime birthday celebration, will not be taking place this year, neither will the Palace release a new portrait of the Her Majesty the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth is back to her royal duties. The Buckingham Palace has confirmed that she will be attending the state opening of parliament at the Palace of Westminster on May 11, as per Telegraph.

She will personally respond to the messages from the world leaders who reached to her after her husband’s passing and expressed their condolences.

The Queen is going through some rough time but we are glad she has her family by her side and the support from her people in these days of pain and grief.

Royal experts believe Prince Charles will “ditch” the Sussexes from the royal family once he becomes a king

Prince Charles wasn’t afraid to let his emotions flow during the funeral service of his beloved father Prince Philip. The future king, who is expected to appear more in public after his father’s passing and to be given more freedom in the decision making processes regarding the royal family, released a statement honoring late Prince Philip.

“My dear Papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things that have been said about him and from that point of view we are, my family, deeply grateful for all that,” Prince Charles said.

Photos of him shedding tears of grief went viral and many tabloids wrote of the closeness and love between Charles and Philip throughout the years.

Youtube/Skynews

And as the farewell to The Duke of Edinburgh was the top topic since his passing on April 9, 2021, the heated relationship between Harry and William was as much discussed subject since Harry’s arrival to Britain.

As per Daily Mail, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, made sure not to acknowledge Harry before or during Saturday’s funeral. In fact, according to the same source “ironically the only one who has expressed any sympathy towards him [Harry] is Prince Andrew.” He knew “from Sarah Ferguson – and now first-hand – how it feels to be the outsider, which Harry very much is,” the source added. “As far as the others are concerned, there is a deep sense of protection towards the Queen and resentment towards Harry. There is little sympathy for him after what he and Meghan said on Oprah.”

Youtube/Skynews

Prince Charles haven’t spoken publicly regarding everything that was brought up by his son Harry and his daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, but sources say he wasn’t happy with their interview that caused a stir.

Entertainment Tonight royal correspondent Katie Nicholl told Fox: “My understanding is that Prince Charles did want to issue a more detailed statement to the Oprah interview and possibly address some of those issues point by point.”

Shutterstock

Another royal expert, US Weekly’s Christina Garibaldi said: “I feel that when Charles saw this interview, he was probably really angry about it. Maybe he’s just kind of on the defense.”

Angela Levin, a royal expert, was quoted by Express saying that Charles won’t be taking Harry’s side. “Prince Charles has wanted for a very long time to cut the monarchy down to save costs and to make people be worth the money that they got from the taxpayer,” Levin told TalkRADIO, as per Express. “I imagine that might be when Harry and Meghan are ditched from being members of the Royal family.”

Mom is outraged after teacher snatches the mic away from her autistic son during a Thanksgiving school play

As they grow up and learn about the world that surrounds them, little children should be given all the love and support because that’s the only way of helping them turn into caring human beings themselves.

Most kids are very sensitive and vulnerable so we should mind the way we address them, otherwise, they may lose their confidence in themselves and never retrieve it back.

This is especially true for children with special needs. They sometimes need more attention and a little bit more love and we should always be ready to give it to them.

Unfortunately, not many are willing to do that and that’s the biggest issue with our societies.

One mom from Nutter Fort, West Virginia, named Amanda Riddle shared a heartbreaking video of her son’s class performance for Thanksgiving. As all of the kids took their turn to speak, her son Caleb who is mildly autistic was the last one to share his part, but just as he got close to the mic his teacher snatched it away.

The poor boy could be heard screaming, “Oh no” as he sobbed by the empty mic stand.

“She just went and snatched the microphone from him,” mother Amanda said. “My heart broke, to watch that.”

What’s most, Caleb played the Thanksgiving turkey and his line was “gobble gobble gobble.”

People who have seen the heart-wrenching video were furious at the school and the teacher who said how Caleb already had his part during the show and additional “gobble, gobble, gobble” wasn’t in the script nor planned.

Amanda felt really bad for her son and wonders whether it would killed them if they let Caleb say his line again.

We believe the school and the staff should be more considerate, especially when it comes to students like Caleb who are more sensitive and need extra attention.

Was it Prince William who requested not to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with his brother at Prince Philip’s funeral?

“We have been inspired by his unwavering loyalty to our Queen, by his service to the nation and the Commonwealth, by his courage, fortitude and faith,” were the words of the Dean of Windsor at the funeral of Britain’s longest serving consort, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

He was a great man who served his people and the Queen, and even in death, he managed to do some good for the well-being of his family, joining his grandsons together.

Shutterstock

The two brothers, princess William and Harry, saw each other for the first time after over a year at their granddad’s funeral. The relationship between the two became intense after the interview The Sussexes gave Oprah Winfrey where they spoke of the royal’s family inability to help Meghan after she opened up about her suicidal thoughts and Harry saying his father and brother were trapped in the system.

Although they were spotted conversing with one another, probably thanks to Kate Middleton who stepped aside and let them solve their issues, it has been reported that it was William who requested not to walk shoulder-to-shoulder with his brother behind Prince Philip’s coffin.

Shutterstock

Daily Mail, however, reported that the Buckingham Palace spokesperson commented on the issue and said: “This is a funeral [and] we will not be drawn into those perceptions of drama. The arrangements have been agreed and reflect Her Majesty’s wishes.”

According to royal biographer Hugo Vickers, the decision the oldest grandson of Prince Philip, Peter Phillips, to walk between the brothers was a wise one. According to him, “Peter Philips was incredibly good with the boys when Diana died, so I think it will be very good for them.”

Youtube/Theroyalfamilychannel

Royal commentator Richard Kay believes that the conversation the brothers had after the funeral was “a momentous one.”

As quoted by Express, Kay said: “For instead of hiding behind the bulletproof glass of their chauffeur-driven cars, the family walked side by side together, ripped off their face masks and talked.

“This could have been a moment of risk, instead it allowed us the first glimpse of the possibility that somehow William and Harry can put their bitter split behind them and rebuild that once whisper-close bond.

Kay added: “It is hard to read too much into this encounter, for it was all too brief, but if there is to be reconciliation between the brothers, this was surely the moment of its inception.”

We are looking forward to hearing that the brothers were finally able to set aside their differences.

Queen Elizabeth’s handwritten note to Prince Philip included a touching detail

The Queen was said to had returned to her royal duties and is spending time with her corgis after the death of her beloved husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

According to royal writers, it only took a single glance at one another for young Elizabeth and Philip to fall in love with one another. She was 14 years old when she first met him during a cousin’s wedding of his. In the years that followed the serendipitous meeting, Elizabeth and Phillip were pen-friends who wrote to one another regularly.

When he asked for her hand in marriage, Prince Philip gave away his royal title, Prince of Greece and Denmark, but it was all worth it.

The Queen described him as her “strength and stay” and was left heartbroken after he passed away on April 9 of this year.

Sources close to the family said that she was preparing for her husband’s death as his heath declined after he was admitted to hospital a month before passing.

The funeral was attended by around 30 of Prince Philip’s closest friends and family. His children, his grandchildren, and even his relatives from Germany said their final goodbyes as his body was laid to rest at the St. George’s Chapel on April 17.

The Queen was shown sitting nearest the altar all by herself. She placed a wreath that featured white lilies, small white roses, white freesias, white wax flowers, white sweet peas and jasmine and a handwritten note on card edged in black on his coffin and the news on how that personal note was signed melted the hearts of millions.

According to People Magazine, the note read: “In loving memory, Lilibet,” which is how the late Prince called Queen Elizabeth. This is incredibly warming and truly a touching gesture.

Speaking to People Magazine, a senior royal said of the Queen: “Her family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on. She understands that she has a job to do, and [Philip] would have wanted her to crack on. She did do so when he retired from public life.”

Kate Middleton honors the Queen and late Princess Diana with pearl necklace she wore on Prince Philip’s funeral

Despite the differences and the heated relationship between certain members of the Royal family, they have all united in their grief after Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, passed away.

Many wondered if his beloved grandsons, Prince Harry and Prince William, would use the opportunity to fix what is obviously broken and set aside their differences.

During the funeral, which was televised and watched by over 13 million Britons, the brothers could be seen talking to one another. Apparently, their wives, Kate and Meghan, want the same for their husbands; to try to make things right.

After the funeral, Harry, William, and Kate walked together, and the Duchess of Cambridge stepped aside so that she could give the brothers the chance to be alone and engage in a conversation. This was a move many praised her for.

Catherine, who was very close to Prince Philip, appeared at the funeral wearing black and acted gracefully as always. The moment she became part of the royalty, she stole the hearts of her people, not only for being their future Queen, but for showing dignity, grace, warmth, and for being a devoted wife and a mother who is always ready to respond to her royal duties.

The photo of Catherine from the funeral was shared millions of times, not only for the way she looked, but for one special detail, her choice of necklace. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a diamond and pearl necklace that belongs to the Queen and was repeatedly worn by Princess Diana during her lifetime.

British Vogue described the choice of jewelry as a “moving tribute to both the Queen and Princess.”

Late Princess Diana wore that same necklace, which was a gift to the Queen by the nation of Japan in the 1970s, during her famous dance with actor John Travolta.

Catherine added to her stunning look with the Queen’s Bahrain Pearl Earrings which were gifted to her when she married Prince Philip.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to Prince Philip by sharing a photo of them and their kids with him and the Queen, writing: “I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her. I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humor!”

Kate did an amazing job reaching out to Harry in such a sad day for the family. The image of the the brothers walking behind their grandpa’s coffin was a heartbreaking reminder of their walk on the day they said their goodbyes to their mother.

Hester Ford, the oldest living American, dies four months before turning 117

Hester Ford who was recognized as the oldest living American died four months before turning 117.

This incredible lady had 12 children, 68 grandchildren, 125 great-grandchildren, and at least 120 great-great-grandchildren, as per NBC News.

Her family took to the social media to share the news of Ford’s passing. “Her light shined beyond her local area and she lived beyond a century with memories containing real-life experience of over 100 years,” they wrote.

Ford was born in North Carolina where she grew up picking cotton, plowing fields, and canning vegetables before she married at the age of only 14. After marriage, she moved to Charlotte, where she lived her entire life.

“She not only represented the advancement of our family but of the Black African American race and culture in our country. She was a reminder of how far we have come as people on this earth.

“She has been celebrated all over the world by local governments, community leaders, social media, foreign dignities and Presidents as a cherished jewel of society for holding the honor of being the oldest living person in America,” Ford’s family wrote in a post.

When women were given the right to vote in America, Ford was already 15 years old. She lived through two world wars, two global pandemics, 21 different presidential elections and the moon landing.

Ford’s husband died back in 1963, at the age of 57. Until the age of 108, Ford lived in her home all by herself, but after an accident during which she fell and hurt her ribs, some of her family members moved in with her in order to be able to assist her.

Rest in peace, Hester.

Meghan Markle is ready to put differences aside and forgive the Royals after Prince Philip’s passing

Many of his closest family and friends were there to say their final goodbyes to Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. Among them was his grandson, Prince Harry, who stepped foot on British soil after over a year in the States. His wife Meghan Markle, however, missed the funeral ceremony. The reason why, according to her, was that her physician advised her not to travel, having in mind she and Harry are expecting their second child.

Some of her closest friends spoke to the press and said how the former actress didn’t accompany her husband to Britain because she wanted to avoid being “the center of attention.” She, however, sent a wreath and a handwritten note.

Meghan was said to had had a good relationship with Prince Philip, but as we all know, the things between The Sussexes and the rest of the royal family haven’t been smooth sailing. It started with Harry and Meghan stepping down from their royal duties and leaving Britain and continued with the interview the couple had with Oprah during which they revealed a lot of things.

Meghan, for once, indicated she had been silenced and not much was done for her well-being after she opened up about her suicidal thoughts to some senior royals. The couple also said how there were conversations of how dark Archie’s skin might be. Harry said he was trapped in the system, saying that his father and brother still are.

All these comments and accusations created a stir, and the interview was a top topic for quite some time.

With the passing of prince Philip, many hoped the things between the brother, William and Harry, would get better. They didn’t walk shoulder to shoulder at their grandfather’s funeral, but were seen talking to one another.

As quoted by Express, royal commentator Christina Garibaldi said: “William thinks Harry chose fame over family. A source tells us that ‘William feels that Harry has got too big for his boots since moving to California and that success and Hollywood has gone to his head.”

Royal author Penny Junior spoke to Daily Mail. “My hope is that if something good can come out of the Duke’s death it will be that it brings the family together. But clearly there is a lot of hurt there on all sides, and I imagine they will all be feeling apprehensive about seeing one another again,” she said. “With luck, their desire to support the Queen and pull together for her sake, which I am sure is what the Duke would have wanted, will win the day.”

Daily Mail reports that according to a source, Meghan also wants to put her differences with the royals aside and is ready to forgive the family. “Meghan said her main concern right now is supporting Harry” the friend told the Daily Mail. “She said she left it up to him as to whether or not she would attend the funeral. Meghan said it’s during these times when family should come together, put their differences aside and unite as one.”

Hopefully, it will all turn out for the best for the Royal family.

Queen Elizabeth said goodbye to Prince Philip with a wreath and a handwritten note she placed on his coffin

“We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will,” American journalist Chuck Plahniuk said, and late Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh and Britain’s longest-ever serving consort, had a lot to be proud of as his legacy will live forever.

Remembered as the man of his people, Prince Philip dedicated his entire life supporting the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Queen Elizabeth II.

The love story between the two is one of the most beautiful ones. The dedication and affection he had for his queen was profound, and with his passing, she lost what she has described as her “strength and stay.” The emotions the Royal family expressed publicly after losing Prince Philip is something we have seen quite rarely, and that spoke of the importance this man had in their lives and hearts.

After a month-long stay at the hospital, Prince Philip returned home, where he died peacefully. It was his last wish to die in the comfort of his home, and the Queen granted it.

The funeral was watched by over 13 million viewers in UK only and was attended by 30 of his closest family members and friends. Prince Philip’s body was laid to rest at the St. George’s Chapel.

According to the Daily Mail, Prince Philip once told Queen Elizabeth that he wanted his body to be “stuck” in the back of the Land Rover he helped design himself and “driven to Windsor.”

On the day of the funeral, the mighty Queen could be seen sitting all by herself nearest the alter, wrapped in grief and pain. Dressed in black from head to toe, she said her final goodbye to her beloved husband. She placed a wreath on his coffin made of white lilies, small white roses, white freesias, white wax flowers, white sweet peas and jasmine, and a hand written note which simply read: “In loving memory.”

“The Duke of Edinburgh is irreplaceable and the Queen’s dedication to duty is undiminished,” a source told the Daily Mirror. “But senior officials and members of the family have long had an eye on ensuring she is more supported in the future and it seems sensible to start employing this now.”

Our hearts go out to the Royal family and Queen Elizabeth. Rest in peace, Prince Philip, you gave so much to your country and its people.

Adopted boy who is dedicated to saving old shelter canines so “they don’t feel the way he did” asks to hold a dying dog for one last time

One proud mom shares an incredibly touching story that triggers tears rolling down our face. She speaks of the love children have for the dogs who have been part of their life and made it a better place and the sadness of letting them cross the rainbow bridge.

Maria Henry Gay opened her heart to Love What Matters and taught us all that “it is during the hardest times that we learn the best lessons and feel the most gratitude.”

That day was unlike any other for their family. The brought their dog Buffy for a vet’s check up and all they hoped for was to leave the place with the dog’s teeth cleaned and some of them removed. However, the vet had some devastating news. Buffy showed signs of advanced kidney failure. The condition was very severe so the family decided it would be for the best to let their furry pal go before she started experiencing excruciating pain, as the vet informed them that would be what follows.

Maria’s son, Robbie, who was adopted from the foster care system after experiencing years of abuse, was at school at the time. Maria went to pick him up and told him about Buffy’s condition. She had no idea how the boy would react, as the two were very close.

Robbie was heartbroken and asked his mom whether he could be the one holding Buffy when she goes to heaven. Maria was stunned by the love and the compassion Robbie showed, and said she was certain Buffy would want exactly that.

After Maria told him how proud she was of him for understanding that no animal should be left to suffer, Robbie said:

“I know how it feels not to be loved or cared for and I don’t want any animal of mine to ever feel that way. It’s only sad for us when they go to heaven. It’s a happy day for them. Thank you for being proud of me. Are you okay, Mom?”

Maria shared what the family is doing for senior dogs in need of company during their last days on Earth. They adopt them and make sure they know how much they are loved. Speaking of the decision to welcome older dogs in, she explains how Robbie believes they should be there for the dogs who are less likely to be adopted, because they all deserve a loving home, just like he found one with Maria and her husband.

“‘If all you guys had wanted was a baby, you would have never gotten me.’ He relates to our ‘old people’ (that’s what we call our senior dogs) in much the same way. He has also reminded me on several occasions that it doesn’t matter how long you have something for how much you love it. I asked him what he meant and he said, ‘Well, you’ve only known me for two years, but you love me like it’s been forever.’ Yes, my son is the coolest,” Maria said.

LSU student, 21, and a father, 55, lost their lives while trying to save others from rip current in Florida

Two men, a 21-year-old student and a 55-year-old father, lost their lives trying to rescue others during an incident that took place April 8 in Miramar Beach, Florida.

Layne Gravois, who was studying electrical engineering at the Louisiana State University (LSU), was on a spring break in Florida with two other friends, Jordan Servat and Reed Boudreaux, when they spotted a young boy drowning. Wanting to prevent a tragedy from taking place, the boys rushed into the water and helped create a human chain of around 70 people in a bid to fight the water currents.

Sadly, the chain “broke.” Sharing details of the accident, one of Gravois’ friends, Dexter Troxclair, told Fox 8 News: “The chain was about 60 to 70 people long and everyone was locking arms and about 50 people down the line into the ocean or the gulf, the chain broke.”

“It was like a war zone. You just saw person after person getting pulled into the water,” Troxclair shared with ABC affiliate WBRZ. “It was almost not real. I felt like I was looking at someone else. I just couldn’t believe in my head that that was my friend laying on the ground.”

Former lifeguard Ryan Doberstein also found himself at the scene and described the incident as “the most traumatic experience of his life.”

All the three fiends, along with a group of people, were taken out of the water and transferred to a hospital. Unfortunately, brave Gravois died. His friends were injured.

His grieving mother, Kristi Gros Gravois, said of her son, “He only went in the water to try and save him. Amazing son, athlete – loved football, baseball. Loved fishing, traveling, being with friends and family. He was the absolute best and we were blessed with him,” as reported by WWL-TV.

On the same day, at the same time and place, another hero who sacrificed his life in order to save others died. 55-year-old Kim McGrady drowned before saving three people. “Kim was always one to put others before himself. Kim McGrady left this world a hero,” the memorial set up for this courageous man said.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office released a statement which read: “During these water rescues, the flags stood at single red. That still indicates the water as an incredible threat to human life with high surf and strong rip currents. Know that just because we cannot keep you out of the Gulf during single red, does not mean you should be in it.

“Mother nature can be very unforgiving. This is a difficult post for us. We know there are families still grieving. But, we’re begging visitors to please continue to educate themselves regarding the flag system. We will continue to do our part.”

Rest in peace. Our hearts go out to the grieving families.

Virginia police officer fired after pepper-spraying an Army lieutenant during traffic stop

Joe Gutierrez, a police officer with the Virginia State Police, was fired after a video of an incident which took place on December 5 emerged showing him holding an Army officer at gunpoint during an illegal traffic stop.

The footage clearly shows how Army Second Lieutenant Caron Nazario has his hands visible out of the window of his new SUV, but he’s still ordered to get out of the vehicle by Gutierrez. Apparently, Lt. Nazario was pulled over for not having tags displayed on his SUV although the temporary dealer plate is visible in the officer’s body camera video.

As he’s ordered to get out, Lt. Nazario could be heard saying, “I’ve not committed any crime,” after which the police officers pull their guns on him. At that point, Lt. Nazaro says, “I’m honestly afraid to get out,” to what one of the officers responds, “Yeah dude, you should be.”

In the next moment, Lt. Nazaro is paper-sprayed and handcuffed.

The case is currently at court as Lt. Nazaro is suing the town for the way he was treated for no apparent reason. The lawsuit claims unlawful seizure, illegal search, excessive force, violation of his constitutional rights, battery and false imprisonment. The lawsuit also says that the assault was racially motivated as Lt. Nazario is Latino and African American.

The cruelty expressed by Gutierrez and the other officer, Daniel Crocker, was highly condemned by both the citizens and their colleagues.

“The Town of Windsor prides itself in its small-town charm and the community-wide respect of its Police Department,” the town said. “Due to this, we are saddened for events like this to cast our community in a negative light. Rather than deflect criticism, we have addressed these matters with our personnel administratively, we are reaching out to community stakeholders to engage in dialogue, and commit ourselves to additional discussions in the future.”

Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston spoke of the incident as well and twitted that he was extremely proud of Lt. Nazario because he “represented himself and our Army well through his calm, professional response to the situation.”

Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia took to the social media to express his opinion regarding the matter, writing: “The incident in Windsor is disturbing and angered me — and I am directing the Virginia State Police to conduct an independent investigation.

“Our Commonwealth has done important work on police reform, but we must keep working to ensure that Virginians are safe during interactions with police, the enforcement of laws is fair and equitable, and people are held accountable.”

“He took care of her” – The bond between Prince Philip and Princess Diana

According to many, what Princess Diana and Prince Philip had in common was that they were both some sort of outsiders when they joined the Royal Family. Over time, however, both of them became much loved members of the royalty.

Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9, 2021, in the comfort of his home, was the longest serving consort in British history. He was someone the whole country admired not only for serving the people, but for being the Queen’s “strength and stay” for more than 73 years.

After his death, his beloved family paid tribute to him the best they knew. Harry spoke of him as of “a rock” for the Queen “with unparalleled devotion,” as per BBC. “While I could go on, I know that right now he would say to all of us, beer in hand, ‘Oh do get on with it!'”

William said in his statement, “My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation. Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.”

With Prince Philip’s passing, many magazines decided to take a look back at his relationship with late Princess Diana, his former daughter-in-law.

It has been revealed that Prince Philip and Diana were in contact and exchanged a number of letters after her marriage with Prince Charles started struggling and was put to an end eventually.

According to the book Prince Philip Revealed, written by the royal author Ingrid Seward, previewed by People, “When (Diana) found the restrictions of royal life difficult, it was Philip who helped her.”

“Once she was married, she never sat next to her husband; she was always sat next to Philip at the endless black-tie dinners, and he took care of her,” Ingrid continued.

“Diana found the Balmoral dinners a massive strain and the atmosphere stifling. When the piper came around the table after dinner with his kilt swirling and his pipes whining, she couldn’t wait to leave the room.”

The mail correspondence between the two leaked in 2003 by former royal butler Paul Burrell. According to him, one of the letters Price Philip addressed to the Princess said: “I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind leaving you for Camilla,” as per Daily Mail.

“We do not approve of either of you having lovers. Charles was silly to risk everything with Camilla for a man in his position. We never dreamed he might feel like leaving you for her. Such a prospect never even entered our heads.”

Further, it was revealed that Prince Philip wrote that if he was invited to help his son and Diana overcome their differences, he would do his best, to what the Princess replied: “I would like you to know how much I admire you for the marvelous way in which you have tried to come to terms with this intensely difficult family problem.”

Apparently, after the marriage ended and things became rough between Diana and Charles, resentment grew between Prince Philip and Diana. He believed that her behavior was affecting the family’s reputation, while she was reported to had thought that her former father-in-law was trying to be way too involved in her relationship with Charles.

We will remember both Prince Philip and Princess Diana as individuals with hearts of gold and immense love for their people.
