Britain’s got talent is a show where we get to see performers of every kind. Some of them are just random people who only want to feel how it’s like to be on stage, and others wow us with their stunning skills.
During one of the episodes, a group of nine girls took the stage and the way they looked left everyone in surprise. The girls wore historical military costumes and had their hair pin-rolled. Their vocal skills were amazing and had the crowd cheering during this one of a kind performance.
They were positioned in the form of V and the visual effects only made the whole show even more spectacular.
The girls’ group is known as The D-Day Darlings and they mainly perform classic World War II songs. This time, they chose the Vera Lynn’s song “The White Cliffs of Dover” which was originally written decades ago and made into a 1994 motion picture.
The effect was even greater with the audience waving red, blue, and white glow sticks.
This song still evokes deep patriotic feelings at those who listen to it.
‘”I’ll never forget the people I met braving those angry skies. I remember well as the shadows fell the light of hope in their eyes. And though I’m far away I still can hear them say ‘bombs up.'”
The voices of the nine members of this unique group blend perfectly and are a real pleasure for the ear. Back in 2008, when they started performing, the group consisted of only three members. Founding member Katie has many family ties to the armed forces including her grandfather Clifford Storr who was an RAF Flight Navigator for the Lancaster Bomber.
So far, the group has made many appearances at different historical events. At the end of their performance on Britain’s got talent they’ve prepared a real show for the judges and the audience.
Many war veterans took the stage along with the girls. They were wearing their uniforms and their presence made everyone emotional.
The applause the group and their guests on the stage received was loud and it was obvious the show they prepared was indeed one of a kind and worth the great finale.
This is definitely a must watch! Enjoy and share it with friends.
The joy of welcoming a new baby in the family can’t be compared to any other feeling. So when Jeff and Natasha found out they will be parents soon, they couldn’t hide their happiness. Having that little creature in their life was everything they ever wanted. The two were looking forward to creating memories and spending days filled with laughter with the little one.
When their daughter finally arrived, they felt like the happiest people on Earth, until a devastating tragedy took place. Their daughter died just three weeks after she was born. Now all those plans for the future were crushed and replaced with lots of tears and sadness.
However, the anger of the tragic loss grew bigger once these parents were informed of the cause of death, and the fact that it could possibly have been prevented.
Besides being crushed and grieving the loss of his daughter, he knew he had to take the time to share his story with the parents-to-be in hopes of preventing any other baby to share his daughter’s faith.
In an emotional (and educational) post, Jeff said:
‘”I’ve been pretty silent since Mallory’s death. It’s taken me over a month now to write this, but if any good can come from her passing and prevent someone else from experiencing the heartache, then I would be remiss not to make an effort.
If you have a new baby, or will be around a new baby, wash your hands. A lot.
If anyone wants to hold your baby, make sure they wash their hands first. Then make them do it again…”
‘”HSV-1, most commonly known as the virus behind cold sores, is a form of herpes (Herpes Simplex Virus-1). It is EXTREMELY common, and the World Health Organization estimates that 67% of all humans on Earth are infected. To make things worse, many people who are infected will never show symptoms in their lifetime and probably don’t even know they have it. For newborns, it is more than likely fatal, as was the case for Mallory.
You might think it should have been easy to diagnose. Surely someone with an oozing cold sore kissed her on the mouth, right? Mallory was never in contact with a person who had an active cold sore. Never. Nobody ever kissed her on the mouth. In spite of that, she caught HSV-1 within her first week of life and we had to watch her die slowly for nearly 2 weeks. Mallory could not keep her hands out of her mouth and eyes and she was constantly sucking on her fingers [see picture above]], so it’s almost certain that the virus got onto her hands at some point. It is possible to be contagious even without an active cold sore.
She had no symptoms beyond a high fever for most of the first week, and by the time blisters showed up it was probably too late for the antivirals to be effective. Considering that more than half the world has the cold sore virus, we don’t understand why so few infants die from the disease or why our beautiful daughter Mallory was the unlucky statistic, but that’s the way the world works I suppose.
Please, if you’re reading this, be extra diligent about washing your hands around newborns. Statistically speaking, you’re probably infected with HSV-1 whether you know it or not.”
Please remember to always wash your hands before touching a newborn baby. This father wants to spread the word of the consequences of not doing so.
We hope Jeff and Natasha will get the chance of becoming parents soon.
Who wouldn’t want to be named the school’s homecoming royalty? Getting the crown means your contribution and achievements didn’t go unnoticed by the educational organization. It’s a great honor indeed.
However, the homecoming of Douglas County High School was quite different and touching. When the homecoming king ripped the sash and removed the crown, the crowd was left in awe when they understood why he did that.
YouTubeAt the game, Brad Cooley was crowned royalty along with the 17-year-old Meghan who suffers from a form of cerebral palsy that prevents her from speaking on her own. Megan has a best friend named Ian who was also part of the high school reunion. What is special about Ian is that he’s got Down Syndrome. Meghan and Ian have been best of friends from the moment they met 12 years ago and the two were planning on attending the homecoming dance party together.
Once the party started, Cooley knew there was someone out there who deserved the title of a king more than he did. So he took his crown off and gave it to Ian.
‘”Something didn’t feel right to me, it didn’t feel like I was the one who was supposed to have it. There was just something in me that was like, I just felt like it would be better deserved for someone else.”
No one could hold their tears back when they learned what this young man did from Meghan and Ian. Meghan’s mom said:
‘”It was amazing to have just the sweetness of sharing that moment, it was really amazing.”
And Jim, Ian’s father, also commented Cooley’s act of kindness. This made his son unbelievably happy.
‘”It was really overwhelming, so it is a very, very special, it was a special night and a special memory and we’re going to hold on to that one.”
The act came just at the right time. Unfortunately, Ian’s mother passed away two months before that party took place. She lost her battle with cancer, and although the family was still grieving her loss, they were certain she would have been overjoyed if she had had the chance to witness this special moment. Both Ian and his father know that although she is not physically present, she will always live in their hearts.
‘”She was my hero before she was diagnosed. Yeah she was, yep, she was and she still is and our hope now is that with the help of a whole team of other people the work that she did and just make the world a better place not just for Ian, but for everybody.”
Both families appreciate what Brad Cooley did because its a perfect way of teaching people how important it is for these people to be included in the community. And the smiles on their faces definitely speak inclusion. Compassionate people like Cooley make this World a better place.
When Sarah Kelleher Steppling saw her newborn son sleeping in a quite catchy position it resembled something she’d seen before. She found the situation so heartwarming and compelling that she simply had to share it with everyone she knew.
But, little did she expect that her discovery will go viral in the blink of an eye. People though this was the sweetest thing ever. Once you see her post, you’ll understand why everyone is crazy about it.
She shared her story with Love What Matters, where she posted the amazing pictures you are about to see side-by-side, and discussed motherhood as well.
This is what Sarah wrote:
“The first ultrasound we had was done at 18 weeks, and it got all the bone structure, so he looked just like Skeletor or the Krampus! So when I saw this sweet baby-faced image that was taken at almost 39 weeks I did think it was adorable, but frankly, I was just glad he didn’t have horns! It’s unusual to get such clear images that late in the game, but the woman doing the ultrasound really knew her way around a uterus. We were super happy to get such great images.
I didn’t immediately make the connection to the ultrasound when I first noticed he slept with his arms up. I saw the ultrasound hanging on my mother-in-law’s fridge when he was several weeks old and that’s when it hit me.
He still does that! He is the king of taking it easy.”
“I made the side-by-side comparison and was amazed by how similar they were in every little detail. I decided to post it to Reddit because I thought it was interesting content someone else might enjoy seeing. Also, it’s nice to communicate with the outside world after countless days inside nursing a newborn. Sometimes it feels like nothing exists except for me, my baby, my boobs, and the couch!
Having my son has been life-changing. I just look at him and start to cry sometimes because I love him so much. He’s a chill little dude. Keep him fed, changed, and cuddled and he’s happy. My mom says my husband Ross and I don’t know how lucky we got with him.
He had unexplained hemolytic anemia and severe prolonged jaundice for the first month of his life, which is why he’s resting on that blue light. We had doctor visits every 1-2 days to monitor his blood and a 48-hour stay at the children’s hospital, but he took it all like a champ.
Now, he’s almost 3 months old and starting to wake up from his newborn phase and wants to play and interact. His dad loves to make up songs for him on guitar and we change song lyrics to fit his name in as many times as we can.
Every time he smiles at me I melt. He just started doing this gentle chuckle thing the other day and my heart almost exploded. He really is as laid back as he looks. We try to anticipate his needs, so he really never has much reason to cry for very long. We consider ourselves very lucky and try and not to take for granted that all this good humor could run out at any time!
I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of kid this baby turns into. I can’t wait to hear what his voice sounds like. My husband played guitar to my pregnant belly all the time, and I was in ‘Sister Act’ the musical during my 2nd trimester, so we are curious to see if any of that rubbed off on him and if he is musically inclined when he’s older. And, of course, I’m looking forward to him saying Mommy for the first time!”
It’s unbelievable how this baby chose his best and most comfortable sleeping position even while the womb. We are so glad we got to see the adorable pictures.
If you found this story cute make sure you share it with your friends.
Being in the military takes lots of courage and dedication because it doesn’t only mean fighting for the safety of the country, but also spending time away from the family and the loved ones. However, this kind of life is as difficult for the military dogs as for the humans.
After serving in the army, many dogs have difficulties adjusting to their new way of living.
The four-legged soldiers face different challenges during their service such as gunfire, sniffing out bombs, stumbling across bodies and many more. They don’t get to enjoy all the luxuries family pets receive, such as sleeping in a comfy bed, playing fetch, walking in the park, or having bunch of dog toys.
After spending certain time in the military, many of these dogs get physically exhausted and are no capable of performing their duties and as a result of that, they are dismissed. But the question is, what happens to these dogs afterwards.
Well, we know where the fortunate dog soldiers continue their life; under the wings of a very special man named Mike Ritland who is a former 40-year-old Navy SEAL. After serving 12 years in the military, Mike founded the Warrior Dog Foundation where he strenuously strives to bring these poor pooches back from the shell of a dog they’ve become.
For six years now, Mike has been working with the dogs in hopes of reprogramming them from what they were trained to do, and that’s apprehending enemy soldiers and sniffing explosives. Mike does all this because he wants the dogs to be able to enjoy a peaceful retirement “in dignity and grace, the way they deserve, for their service to their country.”
‘”Every one of these dogs would be in a box full of ashes on somebody’s desk if we weren’t taking them. So we are the last-ditch resort for these dogs.”
Because these dogs’ sniffing abilities are so keen, they are huge targets for the enemy. For that very reason, they must wear bulletproof vests and have security cameras attached to themselves.
‘”It’s impossible to quantify the amount of lives that those dogs have saved. It’s in the thousands, or even tens of thousands. The ‘man’s best friend’ adage … is understated. We definitely got the good deal out of that.”
Make managed to help over 50 dogs that was brought to him. Most of them are now rehabilitated and adopted by loving families.
‘”These dogs ask nothing of us and provide so much for our troops, for our police officers, for our communities, for our nation. For us to give these dogs what they deserve is both an honor and a pleasure. It’s important that these dogs are never forgotten.”
The dogs are now trained again, but this time the training teaches them how to run free, play fetch, play with toys and everything other dogs do. Eventually, each of these furry animals will end up in a home where they will be surrounded with people who will treat them as family.
Watch the video below to see Mike’s story and what he really does for the dogs.
There are not many things worse than seeing unhappy animals, for us animal lovers anyway, they all deserve to be fed and to have all the love and attention that we can possibly give them.
It’s a great shame to say that far too many fall through the cracks and don’t get the love or attention, quite the opposite actually.
This little Shih Tzu dog called Liz really had a hard time of it, more so than most, poor girl!
She was found by a great samaritan that took her to the Trio Animal Foundation shelter, in Chicago, Illinois.
When she got there the staff were completely shocked by the poor girl, she was really sick she was so skinny, with a weight of 4 pounds, it was a wonder that she was even alive.
Liz’s body temperature was not good, she was so cool that it hardly registered on the thermometer even, completely emaciated and her fur all matted to her skin.
As if things could be any worse for the poor girl she was soaked in her own urine too.
The staff at the shelter took her straight away to their partner vet for immediate emergency care, the vet was even astonished at her atrophied muscles, there was nothing of her hardly at all…
She certainly couldn’t even stand up on her own, it makes our heart sink….
Normally an adult Tzus could weigh in between 10 and 12 pounds, as you can imagine Liz’s weight was alarmingly low compared to this.
They gave fluids to Liz with an intravenous drip into her body, and then also some small pieces of meat, it’s really crucial to feed her really slowly, because of how weak she was.
The treatments began to work, albeit very slowly, but it looked like Liz was on her way to recovery.
Liz’s condition gradually began to improve, and her stomach could start to handle larger portions of food. Just a few days later she was able to hold her head up by herself.
It is unclear how Liz ended up in her dire condition, but she is thankfully improving and making great strides. Whoever abandoned or mistreated Liz in any way should be justly punished, but unfortunately, it remains a mystery how the sweet Shih Tzu ended up in this way.
Thank you so much to the good Samaritan who had the heart to bring Liz in for treatment instead of just leaving her to her horrible fate. We wish her all the best of luck in the future and hope she gets the loving home she so deserves!
In today’s society, we must all be very aware, one prime example of this is a 12-year-old boy called Duncan, he was walking home from his cousin’s house and a man, who drove by in his car, tried to snatch the boy, right off the street!
It’s the worse nightmare of all parents, a terrible and grave thing when a stranger attempted to get Duncan to come closer with the promise of candy!
He really was not prepared for Duncan’s awfully clever trick, one that taught the guy a real lesson that he would not easily forget!!
People that linger around schools and on the streets near schools and on school runs are not a new thing at all, sadly, trying to capture children, but parents are educating children against how to cope with these situations for a good long time now.
When this 12-year-old, Duncan, was on his way home, walking, going from his cousin’s house to his home, he felt very anxious as he passed a car that was stationary because it had a guy in the car that looked suspicious.
The guy would roll down his window and, according to the news channel, he shouted:
“Hey kid, do you want some candy?”
Not suspicious at all right? Well, Duncan was on to it…..
He straight away gave a very firm and defiant ‘No’ to the question, but the stranger did not want to simply give up there!
THe guy then stepped out of the car, walked towards the boy and apparently grabbed him by the shirt!
Duncan retaliated though, he tried to drag Duncan into his car, it was then that the boy, only 12-years-young did a completely awesome trick his parents taught him to do.
Duncan held a keyring tight, in between his knuckles like he remembered his parents showed him, and as the stranger turned his face he punched him with that hand.
The guy dropped in pain and shock, it was just the time duncan needed to run to a park and hide behind some rocks there, then he saw the guy drive off!
Dad Jerry said:
“There’s 1,000 different scenarios that could have gone differently”
“One little thing could have gone wrong and be a different story. We don’t even want to think about.”
Share this story with everyone you know, it could save even more children and hepk parents to educate their children, it could be the impetus to take action for their children!
This is the story of Nate and Issac, two 11-year-old boys who show us what it means to love and respect the country you live in. What they did during a stormy and rainy day stole the hearts of many Americans.
The boys are very devoted to their job as safety patrol at their school Coppergate Elementary in Middleburg, Florida. The boys couldn’t even imagine that what looked like their ordinary day at the job will be noticed by so many people who will show their respect towards their action. They took great care of something Americans see as sacred, The Stars and Stripes of the nation.
The boys who were given the task of lowering the American flag during school dismissal didn’t see the bad weather as an obstacle to treat the flag with utmost respect. They simply knew they have to approach their duty seriously because they are aware of the importance of the flag for the people of their country, and for them as well.
Not only they got out on the pouring rain, but they completed the 13 folds and they gained the respect of everyone who got to see their action.
The school media specialist wrote a Facebook post saying, “Not only did they bring the flag down, they also stood in the wind and rain and calmly completed the 13 folds. Then Nate protected the flag as he walked with honor and respect to retire it for the day.”
The whole story was reported by the FOX 30. According to them, Issac and Nate don’t think what they did was special because that is how everyone should approach the country’s flag, with respect. People believe that the American politic is currently in turmoil and seeing young children treating their country with such respect gives us hopes that in the future things will be better.
The school representatives say the boys should be given recognition for their“…responsibility, respect, devotion to duty, and love of country.” And they add, “They were folding the flag reverently. They were reverent. And they were doing 13 folds … and you know, our country is in a little bit of turmoil … it just struck me. When they walked away they held it … cradled it to protect it. And it was just a moment that was meant to be, I think.”
The school added that “this is what RESPECT looks like at Coppergate.”
Many people praised the boys and felt the need to thank them for what they did. They also believe that Issac and Nate’s action will serve as a lesson for their peers to treat the flag and the country the same way, as real patriots.
That very first day of school is pretty scary for most kids, maybe also a little exciting for some too, but not knowing what will happen and what’s in store for you on that first day can be enough to freak any kid out, even the confident kids!
Getting to school has its challenges too, are they going by public transport that is, it’s a huge issue for one little 11-year-old boy who had his first day at a high school that was a real disaster for him.
Another boy, called Tom O’Brien, 15-years-old, was on going home after the first day back at Holy Family Catholic School, in Liverpool, in England.
He asked was asking other younger boys on the same bus how their first day at school went for them at their new school.
One boy, called Alex Furlong, had spent a nervous but exciting first day at the Holy Family School.
Tom was a thoughtful boy and he had not forgotten how that first-day experience felt, and in turn wanted to see that the younger boys were all ok about their first day, what a nice boy!
Tom was with two of his friends too, and they saw a boy, 11-year-old, that was crying at the back of the bus, Tom went to ask what was wrong?
He said that he’d got on the wrong bus and that he was heading away from home without a clue how to possibly get hole now.
Tom together with his friends knew that they had to help the boy, they got off the bus at the next stop with him and called him a cab, they even offered to pay for his journey home!
The local newspaper said that the cab driver didn’t charge the boy, he dropped the cash back off at school for Tom, yet another great guy!
“Faith in humanity restored a little today”
Alex was so happy and enthused about his day, the older boy Tom really was his hero, he just met him but already the older boy left a great impression on him.
His mom was really so impressed with Tom and his friends that she went straight to Facebook to write about it!
Tom’s sister saw the post and knew it was her brother Tom, she said:
“Ahhh everyone it was my little brother. I’ve just been tagged in this by a friend of mine who’s seen this status. We are so proud of Tom and it’s so lovely to know he’s a good lad in the outside world”
“What a wonderful young man Tom is and such a great example to these new students at his school.”
Please do pass this on and share it with your friends and family too, what a wonderful example to show and inspire others with!
We all remember some part of our childhood, and most of us and our siblings were not so easy to keep an eye on for sure, we wanted to run and explore, all over the place….
The babysitter really struggled too, but this is a quite common occurrence for sure, but at the grocery store that is another thing again, running up and down the aisles…
There have been occasions children are lost while doing the grocery shopping, and children a little older that can’t be found, could well be assumed to have gone home, where else could you look for them?
Times like these strangers often feel our pain and offer to help us, the elderly and wise among us are very often to the most sympathetic and eager to help us.
It’s a hard situation to be in, but when we look at the situation for mom Amanda Cropsey Florcyzkowski, of Texas, USA it’s even harder and quite scary!
This mom Amanda, in February 2016, was in a supermarket doing her grocery shopping with her little two-year-old daughter, then quite suddenly, heard the words “Say bye to mommy”…
This chilling experience rocked her to the core, the fear ran through her bone like shooting pain, its tankful she heard and realized what those words meant!
She reckons that the man and the woman stood at the checkout the ones who looked quite normal, had sinister plans to kidnap her daughter, and take her away!
We feel so relieved that the mom was a super mom, to realize that her family was about to be victims in a sinister crime.
It was only September 24, of 2018 that Texas was hit by another similar incident, where a mother was out shopping with her four-year-old daughter too.
Mom tried like all parent do to keep her eye on her daughter all the time, but just two seconds is all it takes for her to be taken that fast…
The police reported that a man and a woman tried to take the girl out of her mom’s shopping cart, thankfully a store employee saw what was going on and stepped in!
The couple slunk away and were not to be seen again…
Thankfully the little one escaped with no injuries, but of course, the police are actively investigating the incident!
Sometimes it’s almost impossible not to take your eyes off the children for a second or two and really sadly there are some who watch us for these opportune moments to pounce and make their move.
The key here is to educate children as to the real dangers around them, and what to do in those cases, about strangers and how to react…
SCREAM, SCRATCH, KICK, PUNCH, SHOUT – HELP ME!
They really do have to fight for their lives because they well could actually be fighting for their lives if they were to be taken, who knows what awaits them?
It was truly fortunate that one mom was saved by a really observant shop assistant, thank god there are some good people in the world!
Please do share this story on Facebook with friends and family make them all aware of the risks that come with child abduction and trafficking. We really do need to teach our children and achieve a brighter future together!
The constant argument, even some would call debate about the controversy of teachers giving out homework has been ongoing for quite a long time now.
There are some that think it’s not fair at all, giving more work to children to complete at home when they should be relaxing.
Whilst some others think it’s completely essential to give this work to children, and that for the education of the child this extra work really solidifies their knowledge and it’s essential to have it!
This might well be an argument that is not really gaining traction in a big way, but it has for sure started to gain new heights.
Another teacher has been fired because they did not give credits to students that did not finish a homework assignment they had been given.
According to the news channels Diana Tirado was fired and her contract terminated for not giving the kids 50% when they didn’t finish a task she said they had to do.
Dianna said:
“Teaching is a calling for me.”
When she began her teaching career and started teaching at West Gate in Port Saint Lucie last month, that what she believed.
She set the kids that were in her class project with an explorer notebook, many of the students did not submit the work.
It was a really hard lesson to learn, she describes it as the school’s ‘no zero policy’ reflected in the student and parent handbook.
Dianna said:
“But what if they don’t turn it in, and they say we’ll give them a 50. Oh no we don’t”
She was fired for this on 14 September, but still, there is no clause in the letter to say why because she is still in her probationary period of employment.
The very last day of school for her she wrote a message to all the students on her class whiteboard, this is what it said:
“Mrs. Tirado loves you and wishes you the best in life! I have been fired for refusing to give you a 50% for not handing anything in.”
She also put the image on Facebook, where, unsurprisingly, it’s been getting more and more traction as people start to react and with how many people consider it unfair dismissal!
Dianna said:
“I’m so upset because we have a nation of kids that are expecting to get paid and live their life just for showing up and it’s not real”
It is definitely a case to be talked about and discussed, don’t you agree?
Was the school right to fire her, was that the right message to send to students and the world?
We would love to know your opinion about it in the comments below…
Andrea West is one very brave mother. She shares her life story of how she lost her baby and the grief and the pain that followed. Many parents who went through the same ordeal felt for her and her husband and were encouraged to speak out loud themselves.
The couple met during their college years and knew they would be spending their life together. They moved in at Andrea’s place in New Jersey, and by October 2006 they were married.
Their life resembled a fairy tale, and learning she was expecting a baby only added to their happiness.
Sadly, just 11 weeks into pregnancy, Andrea suffered miscarriage and her world turned upside-down.
“I was an absolute wreck. I didn’t know what to do, who to talk to, what was appropriate to discuss, or who could help me. Little did I know that 1 in 4 women suffer the same and people just don’t talk about it. I didn’t know if I could ever deal with being pregnant again.”
Andrea blamed herself for losing her baby for a long time, but her supportive husband was there by her side to assure her everything was going to be alright. Shortly after, Andrea was pregnant again and this time she made sure she did everything right, including controlling her weight by leading healthier life.
“I didn’t drink any diet soda (my life blood), didn’t eat lunch meat, soft cheese, sushi … nothing on the ‘naughty list.’ I followed the blogs and community pages. I read the books and set up my nursery the ‘right’ way. When I found out I was having a boy, my heart grew 3 sizes. I have always had many guy friends and I couldn’t wait to be a ‘boy mom!’”
The couple welcomed their rainbow baby into the world on 21st September. Andrea gave birth naturally, although she had hardly any amniotic fluid.
They named their bundle of joy Adam, after her husband’s friend who died at the age of 21 from a brain tumor.
These new parents were over the moon, but when the doctor didn’t call Andrea’s husband to cut the umbilical cord, but rushed to do it himself, they felt something was wrong. That’s when the doctor told them some devastating news.
“‘Honey, there is something wrong with Adam’s leg.’ I was exhausted, a bit delirious, and just wanted to hold my baby, but I will never forget my response. ‘I’m sure it’s just a bruise.’ I gave birth in a teaching hospital and before I knew it at least 20 different people were in the room. Doctors, nurses, and students got to see my newborn baby before I got to really see him. They brought him over to me for a few minutes before whisking him off to the NICU. Then… everyone left.”
At first, no one knew why the baby’s abdomen and part of his leg were all covered in red markings and bruises, but he was eventually diagnosed with a rare vascular malformation known as Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC). At the time, only 500 cases of this condition have been reported.
In my mind, he was the most beautiful thing I had ever laid my eyes on. My rainbow baby. But, would he be OK? I was euphoric and crushed at the same time.”
Doctors ran all sorts of tests, as well as brain and heart ultrasounds, and Adam passed all of them and was discharged from the hospital.
During the first weeks of his life, Adam had seen many dermatologists, geneticists, and orthopedists. All of the tests these doctors did would come back normal.
Ever since Adam was born, his parents are researching and learning of his condition. They have attended many conferences, including one at Washington D.C. where they met with other families whose children have this condition.
Most of the people and the doctors there have never heard of CMTC, and Andrea and her husband make sure as many people as possible learn of it.
The only thing these parents were worried about was whether Adam would fit in with the other kids. So far, he’s doing amazingly and does everything his peers do. He’s involved in sports and loves being around his friends.
Simon Cowell might be a strict judge when it comes to singing and performing, but his love for dogs and animals makes him one of our most favorite celebrities. This multi-millionaire television judge and producer is also known as an animal rights advocate.
Now dog lovers love him even more knowing that he has given a significant amount of money to the Humane Society International (HSI) which is a protection organization whose aim is to help all animals—including animals in laboratories, animals on farms, companion animals and wildlife.
The generous donation of £25,000 is to help shut down one of the many dog meat farms in South Korea. These funds will help rescue around 200 dogs and puppies who are at the farm where they are bred over and over again for the sake of the dog meat industry. This is not the first time for the HSI to fight against these farms, and it’s been reported that so far, the organization saved around 1,400 animals.
Claire Bass, the UK executive director of the Humane Society International, said:
“Simon’s generous donation means the world to us and provides a huge boost to our appeal to close this horrendous dog meat farm. More than 200 dogs are languishing in the most appalling conditions, but we have a real chance to save them.”
With every dog farm we close and every farmer we help to switch to a more profitable, humane business, we’re showing the South Korean government that it’s possible to end this cruel trade. These poor dogs have had the worst lives so far, so we’re desperate to get them out of those dreadful cages and show them love, soft beds and loving arms for the first time in their lives.”
This is why Simon’s donation is of great importance.
The dog meat trade is one of the most serious animal welfare issues in South Korea, and Simon discussed this issue before in the media.
“It’s like eating your friend. Ironically, some of those people who are eating dogs, if those dogs were their pet, that dog would be protecting that person’s life, that’s the irony. The joy, the love they bring into your life, what they do for you, you can’t put it into words.
In South Korea, there are an estimated 17,000 dog meat farms.
It is a strength, in my opinion, to say we’re not going to do it. If they all could come together now, maybe through social media, maybe through a different generation who just say no, enough people will listen. That’s what happens in the world today.”
Although this violent trade doesn’t end, in recent years, this trend became controversial not only in South Korea, but all over the world mainly as a result of the actions by the animal rights activists. According to the newest information, consumption of dog meat is becoming less common among the young South Koreans so the practice is significantly declining. However, the number is still high.
A South Korean court ruled for the first time this years that it’s illegal to kill dogs for their meat. We hope that this practice of dog meat consumption will decline even further up to the point no dog will be killed for its meat.
Thanks to people like Simon Cowell who support the fight against the dog farms, less dogs will be caged and killed each year.
Humans and horses go way back. These elegant and graceful creatures have been our companions for as long as we can remember and the benefits we get from them are numerous.
Not only are they of great assistance when it comes to farming, but they also make great friends.
Horses are naturally calm animals and they often spread that feeling of harmony to humans. That’s way spending time around them can feel so relaxing.
The video below is just another proof of how awesome these animals can be. A girl is desperately trying to mount on a horse’s back but fails each time. That’s when she gets an unexpected help. You wonder who stepped in? Well, the horse itself.
As she was doing her best to place her leg over the animal’s body, the horse realized he should step in and lend her a helping hand. In the next moment, he decided to lean down so that she could mount with ease.
The woman filming the incredible scene was so surprised with the horse’s action that she couldn’t help by burst out laughing.
Take a look at the video below and you’ll know why horses are such incredible animals and friends.
Sometimes, the cruelties that happen are impossible to understand. This story fits right into that category, and it’s possibly one of the worst stories I have ever heard.
In Santa Fe, Argentina, a 3-year-old boy died after a violent rape.
At the Santa Fe child hospital, his just 10-month-old sister fights for her own life.
Both were originally admitted into Niños Orlando Alassia Hospital. The hospital manager said the boy came in critical condition. With several fractures to his skull, chest, and ribs, hospital staff revived him. Sadly, he passed away that night in his sleep.
The staff noticed his injuries indicated he had been sexually abused. Him and his sister alike both show clear signs of physical abuse along with neglect.
The staff questioned their mother. When questioned, the mom accused the children’s stepfather of the attack. Since then, authorities have arrested him.
Currently, the girl is being monitored in the hospital throughout the rest of her recovery.
Life is full of challenges that cross our path when we least expect them. However, living and surviving means being able to cope with those challenges the best we can. Sometimes a little push from someone is all we need in order to overcome the issues we face, because a small act of kindness can go a long way and restore our faith in humanity.
February 23rd was the day the young parents Jesse and Maria Hulscher welcomed to the world their second baby boy. This made them happy beyond words. They just couldn’t wait to take their son home from hospital and introduce him to his brother and the rest of the family. Since the winter was pretty harsh, they knew they had to make the place warm an cozy for the newborn.
But, they encountered a problem. The furnace in the house stopped working in the middle of the freezing weather, and just before the arrival of Maria and the baby.
Jesse was left alone with his 2-year-old to come up with a quick solution. He was pretty worried because he knew that companies offering repairing services are often very busy and he wasn’t sure whether they could act fast.
“Instantly I panicked,” Jesse said. “I have a two-year-old here, a newborn coming home in a couple days and this was before the big potential snow storm.”
Jesse called Magnuson Sheet Metal to ask them if they could come and fix the furnace before he brought his wife and newborn son home. Jesse’s voice was trembling as he was speaking with the co-owner Craig Aurand who could easily notice that Jesse was in a desperate need of help, so he decided to offer it to the worried father. Just 20 minutes after they spoke on the phone there was someone at the front door. When Jesse opened it he couldn’t believe the staff of Magnuson Sheet Metal could have arrived that quickly.
“He said ‘the fan’s not working, the furnace isn’t working, my wife is in the hospital, we just had a baby yesterday,’” Aurand recalled. “I just said take it easy, we’ll be right there.”
The company repaired the furnace in no time. The heating was on again and now everything was prepared for the big moment.
But, acting quickly and efficiently wasn’t the only thing about the company that stunned Jesse. When he asked for the receipt, he was left in awe once again. Instead of listing the amount of money he should have paid, they left a heartwarming note.
“I opened it up and looked at the receipt and it said, ‘no charge, take care of the new baby,’” Jesse said. While Maria recalled, “I was like, ‘what? No. This can’t be real.’ And he’s like, ‘I know I can’t believe it either.’”
It appeared that Magnuson Sheet Metal was a company known for doing good deeds for people who are in need of their services by not charging families for small jobs which happen on holidays. Things like these make the world a better place.
“We didn’t do it for the PR, we just did it to be good people. That’s it. Just to be nice to these people,” he said. “That’s what this is about.”
There seems to be a never-ending issue with poaching. The sad truth is some species are so close to being extinct because of this ‘trophy hunting.’ Often killed for their horns, rhinos are at risk from poaching too.
Recently, rescuers stumble across a mama rhino killed by poachers. They had set upon the baby too. Rescuers found the sweet baby lying next to her dead mother unsure of how to live.
Upon crossing the scene, rescuers realized the baby was still alive. Too late to save the mother, they hoped they could at least save the baby.
They took the baby to Care for the Wild Rhino Sanctuary. The poor rhino was in poor condition. He had one toenail cut to the nail bed, a machete wound on his back, and seemed horrified.
Petronel Niewouldt of the Care for Wild Team said,“It was instinctive for him to try and stay close to his mother to protect her, and the poachers with no sympathy or hesitation whatsoever lashed out at him so that they could finish their heinous crime of taking his mother’s horn as quickly as possible.”
After sedating the rhino, a surgeon operated on the wounds.
The rescuers say that the baby, now named Arthur, is now doing well in recovery. Sadly though, he still searches for his mother. Not understanding she’ll never return, he still calls for her. This sound is heartwrenching.
“He still calls for his mother, it is a heart-wrenching sound and one that he should never have to make. Her death will affect him emotionally long after his physical wounds have healed.”
In the wild, a mother stays with their child for nearly four years. She teaches the baby everything they need to know then. Even if he could have survived the wounds, he would be unable to continue and defend himself.
We’re never getting tired of good jokes that bring laughter and improve our mood. The following is oldie but goodie.
Two women go out one night without their husbands.
They go to a bar, have a chat along with a couple of drinks and then head back home.
On the way home one of them turns to the other and says:
“Sorry, but I need to go to a toilet. Can we stop for a minute?”
The other looks at her and replies “I also have to go there, but where can we go in the middle of the street?”
“Oh, look, there is a cemetery over there we can go there.”
“Yes, but how are we going to wipe?”
“I’m just going to use my underwear and throw it out.”
Her friend however, was wearing her favorite (and rather expensive knickers) and didn’t want to ruin them. So she elected to take a wreath off a nearby grave and use that. And so they went home.
The next day the husband of one was concerned that his normally sweet and innocent wife was hungover and still in bed, so he phoned the other.
“Do you know where our wives went last night? Because mine came back home with no underwear.”
“Well you are luckier than me, my wife came home with a ribbon in her butt and on the ribbon it was written: ‘From all of us at the Fire Station. We’ll never forget you.’ ”
Lots of people these days live on fixed income which may be quite low and insufficient for covering all their needs. This is especially true for the elderly people who are not able to work any longer and have no chance of making any money on the side. So, sometimes the choice is either food or the necessary medications. If they can’t afford gas for their vehicle, it makes things even harder, especially going to the doctor’s.
Luckily, there are people out there who believe in making good deeds. It’s not unusual those people to be random strangers ready to give a helping hand to those in need like this elderly lady from Michigan.
Seth Kazz was working at his family’s Citgo gas station in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, when he noticed a senior citizen at the gas pumps. She relied on a cane and struggled to walk into the gas station.
When she made her way to the counter, she took her money out all she had in her pocket was $3 for gas. A police officer was standing behind her and watched the woman’s predicament unfold before him with genuine concern.
The officer followed the woman outside to her car and ordered her to sit in her vehicle. Seth watched from the window as he then volunteered to pump her gas for her.
After chatting for some time, the officer realized that after spending those $3 dollars on gas, the lady was left with nothing, and he also knew that little money in gas won’t take her very far.
“He told her to hang tight – came inside and got her another $20 in gas out of his pocket.”
The officer resumed pumping her gas and learned that the woman was a recent widow. Every month, she has difficulty paying the bills.
“This $20 really helped her! She would have most likely ended up running out of gas. Nowadays there’s so much negativity towards police officers. No one respects them. We hear all the complaints and ‘bad’ stories. I’m not saying every officer is perfect, I’m sure some are at fault at times. We all make mistakes- but we should all respect, appreciate, and thank them for what they do.”
Watching what this officer did, and how he paid for the senior citizen’s gas when she was low on funds made Seth respect officers more. He felt he had to share this heartwarming story with Love That Matters.
He had to highlight the compassion one officer showed toward someone in need. It proved that there really are wonderful people in this world.
Seth gave a shout out to this officer and sent a big thank you to him. We would have to agree — thank you officer for your kindness!
Grandma Franklin is a total opposite of what comes to our mind when we hear the word ‘granny’. The Franklin Family Talent Show is just around the corner and Grandma has a special surprise for the family. She’s showing some bold moves in her performance that vent viral in the blink of an eye and left everyone stunned. This granny will certainly impress you, because you don’t get to see a dancing act from a 85-year-old that often.
Even though moving around gets harder in our old age, Your Care Everywhere says that dancing is a great way to remain active – even during the chilly winter months! The site explains that dancing has a variety of important benefits for people young and old. Besides the obvious physical benefits, dancing can help older folks socialize and keep their minds sharp. Instead of sleeping the days away, dancing brings people together and gets them talking to one another. Signing up for a dance class is a great way to meet friends, stay active and keep your brain churning by learning a new skill! There’s no reason why your age should determine what activities you can and can’t do.
Thankfully, Beth’s mother understands how important it is to get up and going – so she gladly comes up with the perfect talent show routine. Rather than bore the group with a song from her past or try to regale them with a strange party trick, Grandma Franklin performs the Cupid Shuffle! This upbeat song is usually played in middle school dances, not for an 85-year-old woman to bop to in the living room. As soon as the song starts playing, the entire family goes wild. You can’t imagine how they react when she actually begins to dance. Take a peek at their reaction in the video below. Grandma Franklin sure knows how to boogie!
Tyrone Wells is a well known singer and a songwriter who’s got a successful career, 11 albums to his name and lots of fans who enjoy his music. However, his biggest admirer is his sweet baby girl Aria. It’s really heartwarming how this cutie can only be calmed down by the soothing sound of her father’s voice. His presence along with his adorable singing makes wonders for his daughter. She’s simply mesmerized and listens the songs with admiration and we can’t hide our excitement watching this father-daughter bonding.
While babies certainly hear their mother’s voice in the womb more often, Parenting Magazine says that it’s equally as important for fathers to speak to their children before they’re born. The site explains, “Research shows that unborn babies can recognize their mother’s (and possibly their father’s) voice starting at 32 weeks. So belt out your best karaoke, read [the baby] an article from Esquire or just let [them] know how your day went.” Clearly, Tyrone did the same thing and built a bond with his baby girl before she was born. So now, when she’s feeling down, frustrated or sleepy, Dad’s voice is all she needs to calm down.
As soon as Dad starts to sing, Aria’s face lights up. An ear-to-ear smile spreads and she listens intently – even mouthing a few words all by herself. Take a peek at this sweet family moment in the video below. You can’t help but crack a smile and shed a tear or two as she sings along with her daddy! Their heartwarming daddy-daughter relationship will only grow stronger as she grows older.
Police officers face different emergency cases every day. When they get a call where they have to act fast because of the urgency of the situation it’s impossible to tell what might they encounter. When the Ouachita County Sherriff’s Office answered an emergency call about a young boy found wandering beside a road in Camden, Arkansas all by himself and with visible scratches all over his face, they couldn’t even imagine what they were about to discover. Nathan Greeley, a Lieutenant with Ouachita’s detective criminal investigation division said the toddler “looked like someone who had crawled through a bunch of thorns.”
Officers brought the toddler back to headquarters and posted his picture online in the hopes that someone was going to recognize him, but the story didn’t end there. Just half an hour later someone identified him as 3-year-old Kylen Holliman who it turns out had been missing for days along with his mom Lisa and his 1-year-old brother. Sensing something wasn’t right cops did a search of the area where Kylen had been found and soon found a car wreck hidden near a ravine that had been impossible to see for anyone driving along the road. Lisa’s body was found outside the vehicle and she hadn’t survived.
As cops further searched the vehicle they found Kylen’s 1-year-old brother still strapped in his child restraint. When the little boy saw people he instantly lit up. Officer Greeley says, “You could tell he was just happy someone was there. It didn’t matter if it was a complete stranger or not, we gave him the comfort that he needed.” Thankfully the boys didn’t sustain any major injuries but unfortunately their mother wasn’t so lucky. The boys hadn’t had food or water for days so were it not for Kylen being seen it could have resulted in an unthinkable outcome for them. They are now being cared for by family and their grandfather tearfully calls little Kylen a hero for managing to escape the car and make it out along the road for help. Although their grandfather lost his daughter he is thankful he didn’t lose her boys too. Watch the full story below.
This is a story I’ve heard a long time ago and I’ve been wondering whether it was true or not ever since, so after some research I learned that this is something that actually happened.
Read it below:
”He was in the first third grade class I taught at Saint Mary’s School in Morris, Minn. All 34 of my students were dear to me, but Mark Eklund was one in a million. Very neat in appearance, but had that happy-to-be-alive attitude that made even his occasional mischievousness delightful.
Mark talked incessantly. I had to remind him again and again that talking without permission was not acceptable. What impressed me so much, though, was his sincere response every time I had to correct him for misbehaving – “Thank you for correcting me, Sister!” I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but before long I became accustomed to hearing it many times a day.
One morning my patience was growing thin when Mark talked once too often, and then I made a novice teacher’s mistake. I looked at Mark and said, If you say one more word, I am going to tape your mouth shut!” It wasn’t ten seconds later when Chuck blurted out, “Mark is talking again.”
I hadn’t asked any of the students to help me watch Mark, but since I had stated the punishment in front of the class, I had to act on it. I remember the scene as if it had occurred this morning. I walked to my desk, very deliberately opened my drawer and took out a roll of masking tape. Without saying a word, I proceeded to Mark’s desk, tore off two pieces of tape and made a big X with them over his mouth. I then returned to the front of the room. As I glanced at Mark to see how he was doing, he winked at me.
That did it! I started laughing. The class cheered as I walked back to Mark’s desk, removed the tape, and shrugged my shoulders. His first words were, “Thank you for correcting me, Sister.”
At the end of the year, I was asked to teach junior-high math. The years flew by, and before I knew it Mark was in my classroom again. He was more handsome than ever and just as polite. Since he had to listen carefully to my instruction in the “new math,” he did not talk as much in ninth grade as he had in third.
One Friday, things just didn’t feel right. We had worked hard on a new concept all week, and I sensed that the students were frowning, frustrated with themselves and edgy with one another. I had to stop this crankiness before it got out of hand. So I asked them to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.
Then I told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed me the papers. Charlie smiled. Mark said, “Thank you for teaching me, Sister. Have a good weekend.”
That Saturday, I wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and I listed what everyone else had said about that individual.
On Monday I gave each student his or her list Before long, entire class was smiling. Really?” I heard whispered. “I never knew that meant anything to anyone!” I didn’t know others liked me so much.” No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. I never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn’t matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another again.
That group of students moved on. Several years later, after I returned from vacation, my parents met me at the airport. As we were driving home, Mother asked me the usual questions about the trip, the weather, my experiences in general.
There was a lull in the conversation. Mother gave Dad a sideways glance and simply says, “Dad?” My father cleared his throat as he usually did before something important. “The Eklunds called last night,” he began “Really?” I said. “I haven’t heard from them in years. I wonder how Mark is.” Dad responded quietly. “Mark was killed in Vietnam,” he said. “The funeral is tomorrow, and his parents would like it if you could attend.” To this day I can still point to the exact spot on I-494 where Dad told me about Mark.
I had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. Mark looked so handsome, so mature. All I could think at that moment was, “Mark, I would give all the masking tape in the world if only you would talk to me.”
The church was packed with Mark’s friends Chuck’s sister sang “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Why did it have to rain on the day of the funeral? It was difficult enough at the graveside. The pastor said the usual prayers, and the bugler played taps. One by one those who loved Mark took a last walk by the coffin and sprinkled it with holy water. I was the last one to bless the coffin. As I stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to me. Were you Mark’s math teacher?” he asked. I nodded as I continued to stare at the coffin. “Mark talked about you a lot,” he said.
After the funeral, most of Mark’s former classmates headed to Chuck’s farmhouse for lunch. Mark’s mother and father were there, obviously waiting for me. “We want to show you something, his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket. “They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it.” Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times.
I knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which I had listed all the good things each of Mark’s classmates had said about him. “Thank you so much for doing that,” Mark’s mother said. “As you can see, Mark treasured it.” Mark’s classmates started to gather around us.
Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, “I still have my list. I keep it in the top drawer of my desk at home.” Chuck’s wife said, “Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.” I have mine too,” Marilyn said. “It’s in my diary.” Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. I carry this with me at all times,” Vicki said without batting an eyelash. “I think we all saved our lists.” That’s when I finally sat down and cried. I cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.
The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don’t know when that one day will be. So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late.
A beautiful but sad story. GOD bless this teacher. We need more like her.

Nowadays there are lots of scammers who try to make easy money by tricking vulnerable individuals, especially elderly people. The most common way of performing a scam is by touching the heart of the victim and pretending to be someone familiar to them, such as a relative, a government official, or a famous company. This story should serve as a warning that you must always check the validity of the story and the person before you trust them with your money.
When Cicil Rodgers received a call during Christmas, he didn’t expect anyone to be playing around with him. The caller identified himself as Cecil’s eldest grandson, and he was in jail because he had caused an accident. He even gave the phone to someone else who identified himself as his lawyer. Apparently, he needed $2,300 for bail. Smell something?
Well, Cecil, being the big-hearted grandpa that he’s always been, agreed to transfer the money. However, the callers insisted that he shouldn’t tell anyone about it. Cecil headed out and withdrew the money from an ATM, and then walked into a Walmart branch to make the transfer. That’s when the cashier did it!
Audrella Taylor has been a cashier for years, and she can smell a scam from miles away. After hearing Cecil’s story, she immediately declined to transfer the cash for him. She told him it was a scam and that he should rush back home and confirm the “grandson’s” story with relatives. Turns out, he really was getting scammed!
