At this joyous time of year its all to easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas as it approaches at the speed of light. And this year there is a new trend popping up all around us and it’s catching on just as fast.

It looks like people are trying to light poles and trees more popularly fashionable, really they are tying scarves around trees and poles for something much more heartwarming than you would think!

Many people after people and from all over the place, nationwide are taking their old scarves, or making handmade scarves then securing them around the base of trees in parks, then light poles in city roads and neighborhoods.

They are leaving them there for homeless people who are exposed to the cold perishing weather of the winter months. The cozy scarves are free to anyone who is in need and they are providing much-needed protection from the sub-zero temperatures.

The scarves are left with really kind messages like this one:

“I’m not lost! Please take me with you if you are cold. Stay warm. God bless!”

The people who are leaving these scarves are really the people who care deeply about the less fortunate and want to spread the holiday joy to the people who need it!

People who take part in the project, like Elizabeth Sammons, knit scarves and create comfortable homemade scarves for strangers in need!

Elizabeth said that she thought it was simply amazing how it feels to help the homeless community to survive and hopefully feel a little better in these hard cold times.

She said:

“I think it’s a great thing to be able to do for the community. [There’s] a lot of people behind it, a lot of support. It’s really nice.”

The very moments that the trend started in Seymour, Indiana, church groups, students and kind strangers from all over and every state then started helping too. They wanted to make sure that a many of the millions of homeless Americans can be that little bit warmer this winter time!

The world around us is a changing place, adapting to opinions of the masses, good and bad alike, recent media coverage has caused a lot of concern for police officers, as it would be expected. The violence towards police officers is higher than it has ever been before.

The men and women in police stations are also keeping a careful guard more than usual due to the recent events that have happened. Once City that realized that they needed to be careful is Detroit, they are watching their backs more than ever before.

For quite some time now Detroit has been on a downward spiral, there is a lot of economic recession since back in 2008 and this is largely because of financial status, especially to do with motor vehicle sales and reduced distribution. Since then it’s like Detroit’s violent crime rates have soared!

Just to make matters worse the war on cops and the racial issues have been on the rise too! The crime rate is really not helping in the established race war, Black Lives Matter and Police Lives Matter have been at the forefront of these issues also. All in all, Detroit is reputed to be dangerous and police lives have been targeted…

The Officers of Detroit’s Police Department are on edge constantly, so when a 9-year-old girl walks into the station with people behind her, not to mention she is also pulling something out of her bag, you can imagine the nervous reactions of officers. However, the announcement she made surprised everyone.

The little girl, Samya McLaughlin, spoke to everyone and said this, it was her birthday… With her parents standing with her she pulled out of her bag several handmade lunches that she had made for all of the police officers in the precinct.

She had birthday plans, with a cake and party too, but after seeing everything that was going on against the police in the news coverage, Samya decided to cancel her plans an to get straight to the police station!

Samya’s mommy and daddy did not want to soften the real world to her, they wanted to be honest about what was going on in the world and the current news, the war against the cops, everything… she gets a glimpse of the world how it is from time to time

Seeing all of the negative things in the world around her and about the police force, she felt compelled to do something about the situation.

With her own money, she made lunches for the officers, there were sandwiches, chips, fruit and a cookie for each person. She wanted to show the police officers that their lives do matter and that the things that they do are very important to the community.

Samya didn’t want to have her birthday before she knew that the police officers really saw that they were really appreciated, and appreciated they felt that day!

Later on, Samya told shared:

“I was thinking that I should feed the police officers because I wanted to show them that I support them and I thank them for all that they do. I wanted to show them that all lives matter.”

After all this Samya wasn’t finished at all, she then went to the homeless shelter and passed out 30 more lunches to the homeless. All of the lunches that day were made by Samya made for everyone that day came from her own money, she didn’t buy anything for herself though.

Samya’s parents are so proud of her, her father Sam Walker said:

“It makes you feel proud. She has a big heart and she knows how to care, and she knows how to appreciate what’s going on.”

To see a young girl like this do something so heartwarming is not just touching but deeply emotional, we should all take a lesson out of her book and the world would be a better place for sure!

The holidays are usually expected to be happy times so when there is a tragedy it’s even worse in a time of rejoicing. This Thanksgiving Holidays Oakley Debbs who was 11 years old ate a harmless, so he thought, dessert…

Sadly he died, a son, a brother, a friend and a teammate, now gone, everyone is wearing his favorite color, red, to honor him and remind others not to let it happen to them.

A student that achieved straight A’s across the board and from West Palm Beach, Florida, Oakley was a real top athlete even though he suffered from allergies and asthma. He adored football, soccer, tennis and was an avid marathon runner too!

He was on vacation with his family over the Thanksgiving period, in Maine. His family and relatives ordered a gift basket, it had ham and pound cake for dessert!

It was in the evening of Nov. 24th and Merrill Debbs, Oakley’s mother, said:

“We didn’t even see the cake; it had just been opened up and set on the island of the kitchen”

Oakley was allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, so he was good at checking labels, but in this instance, he didn’t see any nuts in the slice and ate it…

Robert Dobbsn, the father, said:

“He thought it was just a piece of cake”

“But when he ate it, he come over and said it might have contained nuts”

His mother tried a little cake and decided that, yes, it tasted nutty, like it had walnuts in the cake in some fachon.

Robert said:

“Merrill did what we usually do, she gave him Benadryl [pills]”

“And he came back and said he felt fine”

At the time, he just had once hive on hos lip, nothing too concerning, but that was about to significantly change!

While he was getting ready for bed he noticed a tightness and pain in his chest, but he felt like his breathing was just fine. About fifteen minutes later he was violently vomiting!

His mom thought that once he had got what was bothering him off his stomach he would be just fine again., but he just kept getting sick…

His Mom said:

“He started throwing up and from there it was a tornado of issues”

“We called 911. By the time the ambulance got there – about 10 minutes later – he was blue”

Around an hour and half later, after eating the cake, his airwaves had completely closed shut and his heart had given up without the vital oxygen it needed to keep going…

The family had an emergency plan for his asthma, but there was no plan for his food allergy, if they only knew that his death could have been prevented.

They had been told by medical professionals that his nut allergy was mild and just needed to be treated with antihistamines, they had an EpiPen but had never been educated on the signs and symptoms of when to use it.

The emergency medics arrived they gave him two successive doses of epinephrine but it was too late, he was officially pronounced dead four days later in the hospital. It’s such a shame he died, with a little more knowledge the parents could have saved his life.

Hi mom said:

“I wasn’t aware, no one told me”

“I don’t think my beautiful, amazing, talented, adorable son should have passed away”

She says that they didn’t know that epinephrine was the only first-line drug for anaphylaxis. The family is quickly learning they aren’t the only ones that don’t know things like this.

The family founded the Red Sneaker Foundation to do their best to turn tragedy into something positive, also to help educate others as to these dangers.

People throughout their community are wearing red sneakers and hair ribbons to show their support for their friend and teammate Oakley Debbs.

When you have mild symptoms to an allergy, medical professionals recommend epinephrine be used immediately, it can be the difference between life and death!

Food Allergy Research & Education has a free Emergency Plan that you can download and use with your doctor in case of something like an allergic reaction.

His mom said:

“The child of mine, he was a rock star, he was a good, good kid …And always in my heart of hearts, I knew that he would make a difference in his life – I just didn’t know it would be after he passed away. So that’s a big part of my driving force – the legacy of Oakley.”

Do you ever have that feeling when you walking sometimes that your being followed, or there is someone just behind you, well this woman really was being followed, in fact, hunted by her deranged ex-boyfriend….

She was terrified but she managed to find refuge in what seems like an unlikely place, her life was saved by three young men who became unexpected heroes that day!

The woman remains anonymous, you can’t blame her for this, she was the office manager for a Chicago-based dentist… This one day she went to work blissfully unaware of what was to transpire that day.

She was going to be terror-stricken, completely stunned with a blanket fear and a sense of panic that would almost paralyze her, but she found the strength to fight it and to happen on some saviors who helped her escape her ex-boyfriend’s clutches!

Her ex-boyfriend turned up at her office with a small assault rifle, although people there reported that he seemed calm, the weapon he was carrying seemed to say otherwise… She knew that her life was on the line and she had to do something quickly!

She got up and ran to the back alley, by a stroke of luck she encountered three movers, Mike Zaininger, Josh Lara, and Cody Grandt. The three men, who ironically enough worked for a company called ‘Wisdom Moving Company’ showed some real bravery!

Mike said:

“She knew she was being looked for, the way she was hiding. Our immediate reaction was, ‘Get in the truck.’”

They knew that the truck would give her the perfect hideaway, they got her inside fast!

Lara recalled:

“We brought her into the truck, and there were stacks of boxes so we were kind of hiding behind the boxes”

They quickly ‘removed’ her from the scene, at the same time ‘delivering’ her to safety in the act.

When Clint Engle, the perpetrator could not find the woman he took his own life, thank goodness he hadn’t found her …if he had done she would be dead for sure! She did after all only very narrowly escape him, the drivers of the truck really were her guardian angel that day.

The petrified woman had endured a long history of abuse, domestic abuse, a the hands of Engle. Years ago he broke into her house and attacked her father, he was sleeping at the time, with a golf club, he believed her father would not allow him to date his daughter??

He had been in prison for over ten years for home invasion and aggravated battery as a result of the attack. When they released him he vented his anger at his ex-girlfriend, he had gotten worse, not-rehabilitated or better in the least bit at all.

The Police said that the movers’ fast reaction had saved the woman’s life…

Grandt said:

“If we weren’t there she would have been done, she would have been seen running down the alley”

Many months later the three were honored and the trio with their families got an official proclamation to thank them for their actions and their “remarkable display of courage and quick-thinking.”

For the part that they played in the saving of this woman, they are very happy indeed to have done something which resulted in saving this woman’s life.

Lara said:

“It was just our instinct to try and protect and help her”

It really restores my faith in humanity when I see a story like this, please let’s share in the positivity of this story and share it with everyone you know!

Getting old is really a mixed blessing, there are many benefits to growing older but there can be many downsides too! Some can find it very scary an lonely, while others like the freedom. On elderly lady learned the hard way about being lonely when she was abandoned at her local hospital.

A lady called Ashley Cherry and was sitting in the waiting room of the hospital Fort Campbell, Kentucky and there she saw something she would never forget… Ashley was with her husband in the very same waiting room, there was a woman perched in a wheelchair.

The Lady in the wheel chair had been wheeled there because she had been discharged, she had said to the receptionist that she didn’t have any family to come or to take her to her home.

With no ride and nowhere to go, that she was able to get to by herself she just sat there in the wheelchair, alone and helpless….

What Ashley said was she had seen something that was really upsetting that day, but there was one man who dived in to save the day!

She said:

“I was saddened to see some (not all) of the employees’ lack of concern as to how she would get home. All of the sudden this AMAZING gentleman who had been waiting with his wife approached the lady and told her he would gladly take her home.”

The guy didn’t know the woman, he didn’t even know where she lived, he just happened to be at the hospital with his wife…

“This man not knowing her or having a clue where she lived volunteered his time to care of this lovely woman. She offered to pay but he kindly declined like any good man would.”

Ashley found out that from his wife that the man was called Jeffrey, he was a soldier who was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He left the emergency room to hop in his truck and gave the elderly woman a ride home, Ashely wheeled her outside.

Ashley and Jeffery carefully put the woman in the vehicle, she felt very good to see the compassion shown to a stranger who really needed help.

“As I watched them drive away my only thoughts were ‘There are still great people in this world’ ‘and ‘We have to care for our elders like this nice man.’ Not only does this man serve our great country, he serves his great little community. Thank you, sir…”

Ashley shared on her Facebook page about what happened that day and the story has really gone viral. Above all she hopes that Jeffrey would see her post and know that it was hos good deed that saved the day and that was really so appreciated by not just the Lady he helped, but everyone around him too!

To have lived a life where even though times have been hard, you have survived and always had a roof over your head, never too far from the edge. When you’ve been hungry and money doesn’t always stretch makes life very difficult.

Seeing panhandlers with a sign, desperately seeking help, I’m not ashamed to say that whenever I can I give something to them, Just a dollar or two without too much thought about how they choose to spend it.

If I was in the same situation I hope that other people would be as kind. When you give in life then karma dictates that at some point you will gain something, even if it’s just that satisfaction that you have made the world a better place!

This story really started when a lady from Florence Township, New Jersey was driving along the I-95 towards Philadelphia. The Lady in question here is Kate McClure, 27 years old and before she could reach her destination she ran out of gas and was forced to stop.

In a bit of a panic she was able to find her way to the side of the road in the car, then get out of the car, to walk to the gas station. She approached a homeless guy who said that she should get back to her car and lock herself in.

Just a little time later the guy, Johnny Bobbitt Jr, 34 years old, returned with a filled gas can and emptied it into her vehicle, he had spent his very last $20 to get fuel for her!

The Lady didn’t have any cash but promised that she would return with “something” for him to say thank you. It wasn’t too long before she returned with food, money, supplies and a gift card for her guardian angel and friend.

She bought him cereal bars for him, he offered her one to eat, he was excited to take tot the gift card and case of water to share with “the guys”.

With each visit she made, going down the I-95, with her boyfriend, Mark, the couple learned more and more about the gut who had such a kind heart. He had been homeless for about a year…

He had started out with a night stuck on the streets but it turned into weeks, then months, he made some friends of other homeless men and since then they have looked out for each other and had each other’s backs.

The homeless guy was once a paramedic who came to Philadelphia because of his work, it was a lead for a job, but it fell through, his savings getting smaller and smaller until they were all gone!

It was about this time that, Johnny, unfortunately, lost his state-issued ID and his VA paperwork from being in the Marine Corps, that being said he could no longer prove he had a right to work. He simply didn’t have the money to replace the missing documents that he so desperately needed to.

Looking through Johnny’s old Facebook photos the young couple could not believe how fast circumstances changed for the former first responder.

Karen said:

“It’s crazy, you can relate to that …You look through and think, -that could be me-”

The couple felt touched by his story and wanted to do more than just drop off supplies to him, they really wanted to help him get back on his feet.

Onward to Nov 10th and the couple have started a GoFundMe page on his behalf to make a start
On Nov. 10 the couple started a GoFundMe page on Bobbitt’s behalf.

The goal they set was $10,000 to cover expenses, a reliable car, plus rent, food, and utilities for a few months while he gets organized and back into the swing of things.

When the funding page gathered its first $1,700 the couple visited him with the good news and a bottle of champagne to celebrate.

He said:

“That changes my life, right there …I’ve honestly met more good people than bad.”

He is now in the process of getting his paperwork sorted out and he really wants to work for the nearby Amazon warehouse, then eventually his goal is to resume as a paramedic!

Nov the 22nd arrived and the goals they set had been achieved and surpassed, they had raised over $21,000 from all the shares and coverage they got from social media.

They have been touched by the support from social media and intend to continue to support him until he gets to the other side a success, a huge thank to them and the community for their generous support.

At times when the headlines are filled with such negativity and terrible violence, humanity seems distant, but its acts like this that restore our faith in humanity and it really is a good feeling!

Our parents often give us excellent advice, but sometimes even though we get and listen to good advice some thing can still go a little wrong. In this case, it was sadly unbelievable how wrong it could go…

A young girl, a very smart young girls listened to her mom, everyone needs to know about this story and to take heed of the things that can go wrong even when you are so careful and you do listen to your mom!

This story is about not just a girl, but the thousands of people every day who make decisions that can affect all of us, permanently and forever!

This is a fictional storey, but the message is clear, so please do read on…

It goes like this:

“Dear Mom,

I went to a party, Mom. I remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom. So I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom. The way you said I would. I didn’t drink and drive, Mom. Even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom. I know you are always right. Now the party is finally ending, Mom. As everyone is driving out of sight.

I started to drive away, Mom. But as I pulled out into the road. The other car didn’t see me, Mom. And hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom. I hear the policeman say. “The other guy is drunk,” Mom. And now I’m the one who will pay.

I’m lying here dying, Mom… I wish you’d get here soon. How could this happen to me, Mom? My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom. And most of it is mine. I hear the medic say, Mom, I’ll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom, I swear I didn’t drink. It was the others, Mom. The others didn’t think.

He was probably at the same party as I. The only difference is, he drank and I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom? It can ruin your whole life. I’m feeling sharp pains now. Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, Mom, and I don’t think it’s fair. I’m lying here dying and all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom. Tell Daddy to be brave. And when I go to heaven, Mom, put “Daddy’s Girl” on my grave.

Someone should have told him, Mom, not to drink and drive. If only they had told him, Mom, I would still be alive.

I have one last question, Mom. Before I say goodbye.

I didn’t drink and drive. So why am I the one to die?”

Bill Cox shared a post on the Facebook Page of the Marine Corps Veterans with, he said that it was a photo of his father standing next to a casket. The photo was about his father keeping a promise to a friend and fellow military man.

The father, Master Sergeant William H.Cox, who was 83 years old and retired, was honoring fallen comrades. Him and ‘First Sergeant’ James J. Hollingsworth (aka Holly) also retired, made a deal during the war, huddled in a bunker while under heavy munitions fire in the Marble Mountain, they vowed to stay in touch, and that’s exactly what they did!

Both the men held positions as door gunners, William honored to be the only man in VMO-2 to be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in Vietnam. They both served a long 20 years in the Corps, Holly was decorated too. William uses a cane to help him walk, however, during the vigil at the funeral and at the casket he refrained, and stood strong for his buddy!

William was both delighted and a little shocked when he was asked to speak at the funeral!

He said:

“Boy, that’s a rough mission you’re assigning me to there”

William went on to say that the special bond that he shared with Hollingsworth was not like anything he had ever know, completely indescribable!

He said:

“There’s a bond between Marines that’s different from any other branch of service. We’re like brothers”

Bill really was touched and surprised about how many people it had reached and how the Facebook post had spread and made such an impression on other people!

William Wrote:

“Wow! I posted this on ‘USMC Vets Marine Corps Veterans’ partly because of the upcoming Marine Corps Birthday (November 10th), to show the brotherhood of the Corps, and to honor dad and his good friend, First Sergeant James J. Hollingsworth (Hollie). It has been viewed over 20,000 times, with hundreds of comments and shares!! Many comments made my eyes water. Semper Fi, Marines”

There wasn’t anyone, or hardly anyone that was both happy and touch that he had kept his promise that he made to his friend.

One reader in particular said:

“What a touching picture … My mother had eight brothers..5 enlisted at the same time during World War 2..all 8 served along with one sister! God bless your Dad !!!!! America Is Thankful for his service”

“They are the epitome of how we should treat each other and be there for each other in life and death. Rest in peace and thank you for your service,” another commented on Mad World News’ Facebook page.”

“I find this amazing I love that people that have a friend that they will stand by you no matter what that is a true and golden friendship,” another wrote.”

What a wonderful story about the men that fought to save our country, share the love and tell everyone about this touching story 😀

Brutality is a terrible thing, it has an effect on a persons life in many ways, even drives us to do things that we wouldn’t normally do. Cleared of a fatal shooting, a woman from Ocala, Florida was in a terrible state as it was also discovered that it was her husband that was beating her, her son and her mother in an awful rage!

It all happened on her son’s 14th birthday, Michelle Dinkins-Penland said that her husband had PTSD from his time in the military, then on that day of her son’s birthday he went outside to put a pizza box in the trash, her husband started shouting at him loudly!

Before hitting the boy he said:

“Get the f**k out of my face”

Michelle and her mother tried to break up the fight on the patio but ended up being hit as well.

She said:

“He threw my mom down, punched me in the eye”

“And went back after my son, and that’s when I shot him.”

Michelle defended her what she did and went on to say:

“I didn’t mean to kill him.”

“I did shoot him to protect myself, my son and my mother”

“I was absolutely terrified. Absolutely terrified.”

Michelle and Mark Penland had been together for about six years, the couple had been married for about a year when the shooting happened.

The court in Florida ruled that the mother was completely justified in her actions, in accordance with the ‘Stand Your Ground Law’!

She said:

“Now, other victims of domestic violence can feel like they can protect themselves and their families”

“We have suffered a great loss, and I think the only winners, in this case, are the victims of domestic violence. Hopefully, my situation will show other victims that it’s OK to protect their families when necessary.”

There were a lot of people who were not happy that she had taken the matter into her own hands though, to protect her son, herself and her mother.

One person commented:

“He is beating her son, slams her mother to the ground and punches her in the face”

“If she did he kill him there might have been more than one person he killed. She did the right thing, protecting her loved ones.”

“She did what she had to do”

Someone else wrote:

“Too often the mother allows the child to be abused at the hands of a man. I are glad she protected her child, mother, and herself.”

Well, we all have the basic human right to defend ourselves and our children, if you were in that position what would you do?

Getting married is a big responsibility, it’s sometimes a little daunting, but when the person your marrying has children too, then there are also, even more, responsibilities that come. Through good times and bad, you’re committing to being there for each other!

Katie Hild and her fiancée Jeremy had some plans to make that would consider their commitment to each other and their children, Landon the son of Jeremy and his son’s stepfather and mother, called Tyler and Casey. The family was going to be all brought together one way or another!

So taking the bull by the horns, so to speak, Katie boldly asked Tyler and Casey to come to the wedding and wrote vows to let them hear how much she appreciated their love and support, how amazing, what a really lovely thing to do!

Parenting in these circumstances can be very challenging, to say the least, however, they all look to keep Landon’s best interests to heart. Katie was going to be around and part of the family and that responsibility was taken seriously.

Katie firstly read her own vows to Jeremy, but after that, she then looked to Tyler and Casey to continue with another set of touching vows, to the children she would be parenting along with Tyler and Casey. Katie was bath forward thinking and selfless, with a strong sense of responsibility without even giving it a second thought.

The most important day of her life and Katie happily moves attention beyond herself and included Tyler and Casey, then to Landon!

Katie gets down on the floor and vowed to Landon to love him for the rest of her life, she promised him that she would also be his best friend for many years to come, decades! Even that she would be a good parent to him, especially when he didn’t like it. She took the responsibility seriously…

Such was the deep feeling of the whole situation that as Katie finished her vows the guests wept with tears of joy. It really does look like this one big family are going to have a very long and happy future together.

The adults here really did set an amazing example for their children, the best example you could have ever thought they could achieve.

This mom, Amy Beth Gardner, has done what can only be described as a beautiful post on Facebook about raising her two young girls. We have heard from this mom before so another viral post is no surprise!

Amy Beth, whether depicting the power of words with toothpaste or showing her daughters the magic of Disney we are always learning, and it’s always awesome to have lessons from Amy Beth.

Being a mom isn’t an easy thing, no wonder she is able to draw on passion in her experiences after all her own personal journey has forced her to develop that inner strength. She struggled with infertility before she began fostering children in need!

Months after her decision to foster, close to midnight, the caseworkers landed on her doorstep with two young girls, 5 years and 9 years old. Now moving on, 509 days on to be precise that Amy Beth and her husband have been parents to Breona and Bridgett.

Even in their joyful lives, Breona and Bridgett still have little moments where samll things can make them recall a bad memory from the past. Amy Beth recently shared a powerful story about Halloween and how it caused one of her daughters to have one of those moments, Amy beth gives us the most beautiful pictures of redemption.

“My youngest daughter was five years old when she came to us via foster care.”

“As we approached our first Halloween together, I noticed that she and her nine year old sister froze in fear each time I mentioned the upcoming holiday. I finally asked the girls if they had ever experienced Halloween before coming to live with us and was horrified by their answer.”

“They took turns telling me about how they had once been given candy for Halloween only to have an adult take the candy and eat it in front of them while making them watch. When the girls began to cry, the adult handed them the brown paper wrappers that had been holding the chocolate peanut butter cups and forced them to eat the empty wrappers, a cruel way to give the girls a literal taste of what they were missing out on that Halloween evening.”

“With this story in mind, I knew that I needed to approach our first Halloween with them cautiously. My instincts were confirmed when I noticed that the girls were discreetly counting the pieces of candy they received as they walked from house to house in their adorable costumes.”

“When we got home, I pulled out two plastic bags and a black marker and explained to the girls that I wanted them to count their pieces of candy as they put it into the bags. When they finished counting, I helped them label their bags with the precise number of pieces of candy inside and, each time they would eat a piece of candy, I helped them relabel their bags.”

“For weeks after Halloween, despite our assurances that we would not eat their candy, the girls asked if they could recount the pieces before going to bed. I would sit and count their candy with them night after night, earning their trust one lollipop at a time.”

“That was fall of 2014. They are now adopted and thriving in our home but each October the story of the one Halloween that they were forced to eat empty candy wrappers resurfaces in their young minds.”

“Last night, as I was cleaning up our kitchen after dinner, I noticed my youngest daughter rooting around in the pantry. As I finished wiping down our counter-tops, she approached me with a bag of candy she had collected while at a recent Halloween event.”

“She had wrapped the bag in a piece of paper and it was clear she was presenting it to me as a gift. As I pulled the piece of paper off the bag, I saw these words scrawled in her sweet third grade handwriting:”

“Mom, I want to give you a taste of how much love I have for you by giving you my candy.”

“Let that sink in for a moment. This child, who was once forced to eat empty candy wrappers, went through her bag of Halloween candy to select pieces she thought I would enjoy and then gave them to me as a gift.”

“She didn’t choose her least favorite candies or only pick out one or two pieces to give. She filled a bag full of her very favorite pieces and gave them to me with so much earnest pride on her face that I could cry just typing these words.”

“You have gifts to offer, too. But, like my daughter and her candy, I’m almost certain that your most valuable gift is connected to deeply rooted pain in your life. You and I have the opportunity daily to make the choice to take the terrible things that have happened to us and turn them into gifts to offer to this hurting world.”

“My daughter’s gift of candy was priceless because of what it cost her. She chose to give despite what had been done to her. What if you and I show that same kind of courage today as we take inventory of our own pain — and allow the bitter to become sweet?”

Wow! What a completely amazing story, it really shows that a child’s capacity for love is enormous, even in the memory of such a painful event from her past!

Family bonds are really the strongest that exist between us humans, especially the bond of a parent, and in this case the bond of a father and daughter. So father to father when we can really relate to this bond that exists, that’s exactly what happened one day between two fathers in Orem, Utah.

Appearing a the courthouse for a traffic ticket he got one day, Jose Moncayo, had desperately looked for a babysitter for his two year old little daughter, Abi. He wasn’t having any luck at all that day, in fact, he couldn’t get a babysitter for love nor money, …or could he?

Well actually in this case, not for money but for love! As he had no choice but to bring his daughter to the courthouse, the two of them waited to appear in the court. When the time came to go into the courtroom Jose had the realization that he would need help.

As Jose waited for his turn in the courtroom Abo explored the hall where they were waiting, as much as she could anyway. She just couldn’t sit still beside her father and the whole building seemed like it was her play area! As she explored it as far as she was allowed.

The time came and Jose was to appear in front of the judge, he was really in a tight spot, he wasn’t allowed to take Abi into the courtrooms with him. On the other hand, he couldn’t leave her there either, he didn’t know what he was going to do, until a hero stepped in.

The Officers of the police department saved him. He said he would watch Abi while Jose was in court, the officer who stepped in went by the name of Officer Norris and previous to him stepping in he had been watching the father and daughter while he waited to give hos testimony.

The Officer, seeing the situation Jose was in, he was very happy to help!

Officer Norris said:

“I’ve got kids myself”

“I know what it is to have rambunctious kids, and it’s hard to take them anywhere.”

The Officer held the girls hand, exhibiting some really great parenting skills, he showed her around th building to keep her occupied, lade sure she drank water, stayed hydrated, and she even got treats from the deputes of the court!

What was going to be a serious problem turned into a great day for Abi!

The young girl did eventually feel a little low on energy, Officer Norris sat with her and looked at some cartoons together on hos phone, she sat on his lap, clearly the Officer was in the little girls trust.

By the time Jose calm out of the courtroom his little Abo was asleep on the Officer, what a really great example of how these Officers really do care about the people around them.

Officer Norris said:

“We’re not just officers who are out there to arrest people”

“We’re out there to make our community a better place.”

This officer really did make a positive difference by helping a fellow father who needed a helping hand.
This man certainly made a difference by stepping in and helping a fellow father in his real time of need. It is really lovely to see genuine people helping each other out like this, such great community spirit.

Once in a while, you get to know about a customer writing something on a receipt that is downright rude, it’s hard to believe it! There is a great sense of shock, its pretty unbelievable but it happens and it’s so inconsiderate for the person that is severing them.

Thankfully most people out there are really not like that, not in the least bit. They really do want to share the love that most of us have for life and make everyone’s day a little happier and brighter.

At the Tacoma in Washington, a restaurant that is part of the chain called ‘Buffalo Wild Wings’ there was a case just like this, not they were not being rude though it was the opposite!

The restaurant serves American-style dishes, and has a great selection of hot spicy wings that everybody who tries, loves! It’s the kind of establishment where people can just go in, sit back, and get really tasty food to eat. The relaxed atmosphere that they exude is just awesome!

This one day, a staff member called Brian Avey was on duty, serving customers!

Just like a normal day he approached the woman, sitting alone, to take her order. She was there to have her lunch and ordered a sandwich and two beers, a Corona and a Blue Moon. Brian thought that was a bit odd, as she was on her own…

Brian told her politely that he was sorry that he wasn’t able to bring her two beers because it was the restaurant’s policy to serve one beer at a time.

The woman told the server exactly, her intentions…

She had no intention of drinking two beers, in fact, she ordered the Corona beer for her brother, in his honor because he died in Iraq, fighting for his country. She would not even consider touching the second beer, it was symbolic and just her way to respect her brother.

Brian posted to his social media:

“I told her she could only do one beer at a time. She said the Corona was for her brother who died in Iraq. It just sat next [to] her at an empty seat her entire lunch. When I brought her bill, I told her Buffalo Wild Wings will be buying that beer.”

The woman felt deeply touched by Brian’s actions and decided to write him a note.

Brian not only waived the policy in the restaurant for the woman, very understandable don’t you think, but in addition, he gave her the beer with compliments, so she wouldn’t have to pay for it, what a great way to also show a sign of respect for her brother!

Before she left she got the receipt and wrote on it how she felt.

The note said:

“Thank you. An act of kindness goes a long way. It means a lot to me. Have a great rest of your day.”

She signed off:– “Grateful Soldiers.”

She felt that this kind act really honored all the soldiers that also fought beside her brother too, and had they been there they would have thought so too!

When the woman finished, she left and the beer remained on the table still, what would Brain decide to do with the beer….

Dumping it down the sink was really not on, and he felt like he wanted to do something more meaningful, so he put the beer next to the cooler to honor this woman’s fallen brother, the beer was sat ceremonially next to an American flag!

Brian’s boss completely agreed with him, with one little proviso, he said to be sure to change the lime for a fresh piece every day, in remembrance of the soldier.

This story just goes to show that a little bit of kindness really does go a long way. It just shows that a little bit of kindness goes much further than you can imagine!

Thinking about Halloween for a moment I bet you’re immediately thinking about trick or treaters and the many groups of marauding children all with bags full of candy treasure. All that sugar and all those hyper children with sugar rushes….

These kinds of circumstances give most people the picture of spooky and freaky costumes and large groups of happy sugared up children and with the fun of Halloween it’s not hard to think that its the ideal environment for children to get up to a bit of unsupervised naughtiness!

But for this boy, Halloween brings out the very best in his nature, from Idaho Falls in Idaho, He really does something so special and it goes viral, for a change, for the best reason possible…

It was also really the most amazing thing that the owner had a security camera and it was recording the Haloween happenings, it perfectly captured this boy and his selfless and kind act, outside the home of Jesse Robertson.

At Jesse’s home, outside he had placed a large bowl outside, with candy and a sign that reads “Do a trick, take a treat! Only one or two, please. You’re on camera!”. When the boy came to the bowl it was empty, he came, did a silly trick then he walked away, but….

Then he seemed to have a thought, then he turned back around, came back to the bowl and dipped into his own candy bag and put some handfuls of candy into the bowl!

How many children would you honestly see do this? I really do think about how amazing it was to see something like this happening. I mean, really, such a completely selfless act of kindness, it warms my heart to see such a kind thoughtful thing!

Just the thought of another child coming to the bowl and walking away without any candy, without anything at all. Replenishing Jesse’s candy bucket from his own supply!

When another trick or treater come to the bowl he will go away feeling great about getting some lovely treats because of this young boy.

See for yourself this amazing act of kindness, and what he does when he sees the empty bowl:

Sadly diagnosed with dementia around five years ago, Jessie Bell, a grandmother, was moved into a nursing home this year as her condition worsened, for her own safety and wellbeing.

At a ripe old age of 94 she had done ok in life, but is now having a hard time in enjoying what’s left in life for her, Jessie’s daughter, Sandra, now 57 years old, described her mother as hardly ever smiling anymore.

Sandra Said:

“She started doing the oddest things like going into the garden in the middle of the night to move around garden furniture or she’d try to cook her chips in washing-up liquid”

“It got to the point where my sister was going down there seven days a week and mom had carers too.

“She’d be getting up in the middle of the night and playing up so in the end we had no choice but to put her in a home.”

As her mother’s condition progressed it was inevitable that Jessie’s condition would become worse to the point that she couldn’t remember anymore that Sandra and Carol were her daughters.

One year Carol, Sandra’s sister bought a doll for Jessie for their mother from a charity store, they desperately wanted their mother to feel happy again. Jessie, when she saw the doll thought it was a real baby, the doll made real baby noises too, it was quite convincing if your sight wasn’t too great!

For the first time in a long time she started smiling again, she found some happiness!

Jessie called the doll ‘Gizzy’, which also was her dog’s name!

Sandra said:

“My mom will look into the doll’s face and say to me ‘isn’t she lovely? Look at her smile’ …then mom will smile too, she rarely smiles at anyone else”

Sandra after some refmection then said:

“She’s gone really downhill in the last few months and she can’t walk at all, but the baby is always with her”

“Every time we go in and see her the baby is always by her side,” she said. “When I visited last night, she was cuddling it in her arms.”

“She’ll feed it and if she’s eating something then the baby will have to eat too. She doesn’t change the baby’s nappy or clothes herself though because she kept pulling its arm out of the socket.”

Many of the residents at the nursing home took to the doll too, some of them, also with dementia will ask Sandra how the baby is doing when she comes to visit her mother.

Sandra said:

“There’s a few other residents in the home that like to take her doll when she’s not looking”

“They get a lot of comfort from holding the baby.”

Some of the residents who are ‘sound of mind’, as Sandra said, ask Jessie regularly how the baby is doing, these are some of the few interactions Jessie is able to understand.

Would you believe it, but there is definitely something there, “doll therapy” is a controversial but growing thing; It’s been found to calm people with dementia and be a bright spot in their lives, but some people are not comfortable with it.

Sandra and Carol get some comfort in knowing their mom’s mind will be occupied while she is playing with the baby and she will feel a sense of happiness.

“I think the dementia has been harder for us than it has been for mom, but now when we leave her the doll gives her comfort”

While this story might be heartbreaking it is also a little ray of light for sons, mothers, and daughters in these positions, and it gives happiness and comfort to someone who otherwise would live every day in confusion and despair.

The baby may not feel, look, or be real to us, but it is to Jessie! It brings peace to chaos, harmony to despair and confusion, and in the end, the result for Jessie is the most important thing of all!
