94-year-old lady ends up in jail after she forgets to pay $161 to her nursing home

Spending the final years of your elderly life at a senior living facility has its peaks and valleys. An elderly woman named Juanita Fitzgerald got used to the life at the nursing home where she stayed for eight years. However, her struggles started when she got evicted from the place just four days before her 94th birthday.

Apparently, she failed to pay the rent in the amount of $161 and that was the reason why she was forced to leave the place. Franklin House say that she didn’t want to pay because she believed her time on this world was coming to an end. Juanita, however, claims that’s a lie and that she tried to pay but they refused to take her money. Franklin House spokeswoman Karen Twinem said that Juanita only offered a partial payment.

The poor lady got scared because leaving the facility would mean ending up on the streets, but those at Franklin House didn’t care. They even called the police and asked them to get Juanita out of the place she considered her home.

During the arrest, she could be heard screaming and resisting. Her fragile arms and wrists were full of bruises and scratches because of the handcuffs the police placed on her.

The video of the arrest was quickly shared on the news all over the country and concerned citizens started a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for Juanita’s bond and hopefully avoid her ending up homeless.

Once out of jail, one of Juanita’s friends let her stay with her for a while, or until she finds a shelter on her own.

Juanita says her family is in Tennessee and she has no relatives living near her. The board members of the Mid-Florida Homeless Coalition are doing their best to find a solution for this lady’s problem.

Waitress does an act of kindness for tired firefighters, they return later and make her cry

First responders have one of the toughest jobs there are. What they do for their communities is priceless and we should be very thankful for their dedication and hard work.

After battling intense fire at a warehouse in North Brunswick, New Jersey, for over 12 hours, firefighters Paul Hulling and Tim Young needed to take some rest and have something to eat so they stopped by Route 130 Diner. There, they talked about their day, and the waitress who served them, Liz Woodward, overheard their conversation.

Source: YouTube/ ABC News (Tim Young and Paul Hullings)

When they were about to leave the place, instead of a receip, Liz handed them a hand-written note which read, ”Your breakfast is on me today. Thank you for all that you do, for serving us and for running into the places everyone runs away from. No matter your role, you are courageous, brave and strong. Thank you for being bold every day.”

This kind gesture warmed the firefighters’ hearts. Hulling was so touched that he even started to cry. Liz’s act showed that someone appreciated their work, and that meant the world to them.

They were very grateful, but gratitude wasn’t the only thing they offered. On the contrary, Young decided to share the note on Facebook and called his friends to visit Route 130 Diner if they have a chance and tip Liz big is she happens to be their waitress.

Besides that, they learned that Liz had started a GoFundMe page in order to help her wheelchair-bound father. As it turned out, he was left paralyzed by a brain aneurysm and she was doing all in her power to gather money for a wheelchair-accessible van.

”He needs access to the outside world. He needs to see the world outside his hospital bed,” Liz wrote in the description of the fundraiser. Her initial goal was to raise $17,000, but after Hulling and Young spread the word, she managed to raise over $86,500.

”I don’t even know what to say to that,” Liz said, as tears of joy were rolling down her face. “That’s incredible — what a way to wake up today. I had no idea today was going to go like this.”

She posted an update on GoFundMe which read, “Our family has witnessed an outpouring of love & support from around the world, and I want to thank each and every one of you beautiful human beings for making this dream possible!”

Speaking of the incredible experience and her act of kindness which went a long way, Liz told WPVI, ”All I did was pay for their breakfast, and I didn’t think anything would come about it except they would leave with a smile.”

6-year-old girl fights for life after classmate’s sick game – her mom says bullying needs to stop

Bullying in schools is an issue that affects one in five children. These numbers are devastating and speak volumes about the failure to educate our children to treat others with respect. It consists of certain hurtful behaviors directed towards one person which are repeated over and over again. Bullying comes in the form of constant teasing, spreading rumors about the victim, attacking by hitting or yelling, and more.

The victims of bullying are affected to the extent that it leaves mark in their life years after the attacks take place. It undermines their self-confidence and they may starts seeing themselves as less worth than the rest of the peers.

Some of the consequences of bullying that the person affected experiences are the following: social isolation, sleeping problems, depression, anxiety, psychosomatic symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches, poor school performance, and in a worst case scenario, even suicide.

Even though we can experience this type of behavior at any stage of our life, when we are older we find ways to cope with it, but kids and students are more vulnerable and unable to find a way out.

Sofia Golledge is only six years old, and she has experienced the devastating effects of being a victim of bullying. This young girl developed severe anxiety, and her mother Carrie shares her story.

Powerful Low Key Shot of a Sad Young Blonde Child

Every day of Sophia’s life was a struggle. She would spend hours crying and gathering strength to return to school the following day.

“Things were so bad by the end of the summer term that Sophia was out of school for a couple of weeks because her sickness was so severe — she would be up all night and vomiting 20 times an hour,” the mother told The Mirror.

Ultimately, Sophia’s entire body gave up — all because of her classmates’ constant bullying and harassment.

“She’d be in so much pain and because her upset stomach was so violent, it would lead to a water infection and her body struggled,” the mom added. “We’ve had her in hospital with high fevers which they’ve struggled to control.”

The bully was Sophia’s “best friend” who would tell her what to do, when and what to eat, and who to talk to. She was so manipulative that the whole thing was stressing Sophia so much that her body and brain were about to become paralyzed and she became apathetic.

Carrie posted the story along with a picture of her daughter feeling exhausted in the hospital bed.

Facebook/Carrie Golledge

“This is what bullying does…

This is my 6 year old daughter, hospitalised, due to bullying…

This is my child with such a caring heart that despite being so ill “doesn’t want anyone to get in trouble”…
This is my child who has stopped eating, has cried herself to sleep, had anxiety so severe she’s up sick over 20 times in an hour through the night…

This is my child whose ‘best friend’ has emotionally abused her for so long she thought it was normal…

This is my child who has been in and out of hospital for countless trips due to being so sick with anxiety…

This is my child who was told off for ‘telling tales at school’…

This is my child who has been mocked on social media by the bullies parents for just having such a pure heart…

This is my child who when addressing the issues with her school we were told “Its just 6 year olds being 6 year olds”…

This is my child who was told by the school she should be the one feeling ashamed and be snuck in a side door of a morning…

This is my child who her school failed her so badly that we had to move her schools…

This is my child who is one of too many that are going through this…

This is my child whose story is being twisted and manipulated by the very people that were meant to protect her at her school when she was in their care…

This is my child who doesn’t want this to happen to anyone else. So this is my child’s story we are sharing but she is one of many….too many!

Please help us share her story. Lets show her the support her school couldn’t afford her.”

Apparently, the parents took Sophia to another school where she found new friends. She is now much happier and healthier. However, the problem with bullying has to be addressed by every single school, because moving from one school to another is not a permanent solution.

Please share this story to raise awareness of what bullying does to young kids. We should all take part in the fight against this damaging behavior that may affect any child out there.

Faith Hill’s youngest daughter Audrey is a spitting image of her mom

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have been together for 24 years, and they are an example that love can be eternal in the world of fame. They are both huge country music stars who first met while on tour. Today, the musicians have three amazing daughters together and their family is always on the top of the list of their priorities.

They once admitted that when they tied the knot, they promised one another to never spend more than three consecutive days apart.

The oldest daughter of the celeb couple, Gracie is 23, Maggie is 22, and the youngest one, Audrey, is 19. The girls all resemble their beautiful mom and their parents have always tried to provide them with a normal childhood as much as it is possible.

Audrey was born eight weeks premature, on December 6, 2001, and now the family says they start the Christmas celebration a bit early ever since she was born.

“Seventeen years ago, this little precious jewel came almost eight weeks early to us!” Tim wrote on Instagram two years ago. “So tiny, but so strong!” Faith also spoke of her daughter’s birth and Christmas and told Good Housekeeping in 2007, “So this time of year just feels extra-special to us. And now, every year, to celebrate Audrey’s birthday, we decorate the tree on the sixth.”

“It’s a little bit of a challenge, keeping a live tree fresh for the entire month of December. But there’s no other way we’d do it: We decorate on the sixth, and it has to be a live tree.”

Faith and Audrey were spotted together at the Versace Pre-Fall 2019 fashion show and everyone agree they both look incredible, with Audrey being the spitting image of her mom.

Man finds flag covered in writing at flea market and uses the chance to honor a fallen soldier

Garage sales are fun and exciting because you never know what will you stumble upon. Lots of times, among the piles of things, there are objects that are worth a lot more than what we pay for.

When a couple from Texas went to a sale like this, they could never imagine their purchase could be so significant that it will make one mother shed tears of both sadness and joy.

As they were going through the items, Walter Brown noticed a large American flag that was for sale. As he took it in his hands he noticed there was something written on it. And that’s when he knew he had to have it. He only paid $5 for it, but he was aware its sentimental value was way bigger.

YouTube

The flag was full of hand written messages as a tribute to a marine who lost his life. The heartfelt words were from his fellow military members and it belonged to the family of Lance Cpl. Fred Maciel. Walter knew that it got at the market flea by accident, and he also knew that the family of the fallen marine would be happy to have it.

YouTube

Walter Brown’s son is a marine himself, and that was another reason why he felt even more compassionate for the loss of the marine’s family. He and his wife decided to do the right thing and bring the flag where it belonged. So, they tracked down Fred’s mother and were willing to hand deliver it to her. When she got to hold her son’s tribute flag again after 9 years, her reaction was priceless. She is forever grateful that her son is not forgotten.

We thank God for people like the Browns.

Strangers step in for retired teacher whose card is declined

In my humble opinion, those people who work with children and help shape them into independent and respected individuals should get all the praise for their work, yet, teachers are underpaid and most of them are forced to work two jobs in order to be able to provide for their families. This speaks a lot of the flaws of our society.

For most teachers, seeing their students succeed is enough reason to continue do their hard work because no money can ever buy that satisfaction.

One retired teacher from Pearland, Texas, named Barbara Barbin has recently found herself in an unenviable position after her credit card was declined at Walmart. She was together with her 13-year-old grandson who is legally blind. After they took everything they needed, they headed to the register, but she was unable to pay for the groceries.

Source: KAMR Local 4 News

She started feeling anxious and embarrassed and told the cashier to give her her card back so that she could try and withdraw some money from it through the ATM.

“(I told the cashier) let me go to the teller machine to try to see if I can get it to work,” Barbin told ABC13.

However, at that moment, four men who were standing behind her decided to step up. One of them approached closer and put $140 in Barbin’s hand. She couldn’t believe that perfect strangers could do something so generous for her.

Source: KAMR Local 4 News

These man saved the day and spared her and her grandson from feeling embarrassed and wondering what the rest of the customers thought of them.

Barbin didn’t have to leave the store empty handed all thanks to the kindness those men offered.

“In times like this, me being a black woman, they were four white men,” she said. “They just came up because they felt the need.”

Once home, she decided to share her story and track down the people who helped her. Although she didn’t succeed in learning who her angels were, she still wanted to thank them for their unselfish deed.

One thing that this story teaches us is that no matter how big or small, every act of kindness goes a long way.

Photographer gives birth to different-color twin babies – teaches them to love their differences

Every child is special in their own way. But some are a bit more exceptional, just like this pair of twins named Kamis and Kachi. If you wonder what is unique about them, it’s their skin color. While Kamis is dark-skinned, his sister Kachi is totally white.

Their mother, Nigerian-Canadian photographer Judith Nwokocha, shared the brother and sister’s story along with some cool photos of them and they became sort of celebrities.

Speaking to The Epoch Time, Judith recalled how she knew she was carrying twins, even when the doctors told her she was having only one baby. Later, when it was determined she was having two babies, doctors assumed the siblings would be born with Down Syndrome.

The twins, however, were welcomed into the world perfectly healthy, with baby Kachi having white skin. “I was shocked- I thought they had handed me somebody else’s baby, I didn’t believe she was mine,” the mother said.

At the beginning, she had a hard time accepting that her children were different.

“Gradually, worry turned to sadness and I started questioning God, wondering why he would put me in such a situation. I worried about her future, how society would treat her, how she’ll be accepted…

“I envied other black babies and thought, ‘Why me? Why was I the one to have an albino baby? How did I get black and white twins?”‘

Over time, she learned how to focus on the positive side and that was that her baby was happy and healthy, and that was all that mattered.

“I began to see the beauty in her condition. I began to admire her gold hair, her brown eyes, her pink lips and everything about her,” the mom wrote for Love What Matters.

“I noticed how attractive she was to people whenever I took them out. People admired her a lot and she is usually the one who gets all the attention.”

And yes, she says that her girl looks exactly like her.

This loving mother teaches her daughter that being different is a good thing and tells her not to be affected by the stares from random strangers she meets on the steet.

“It took me a while to realize I’m going to be raising an albino- I was really concerned about what people were going to say, it’s not a very usual thing to have an albino and a black baby,” Judith said.

“I was also sad, I was worried about how she is going to go through society, how people are going to treat her.

“I’m not sure she’s aware of her uniqueness at the moment, but eventually she’ll know, and it’s my responsibility to educate her and teach her to love herself no matter what.”

Kamis and Kachi are not only a brother and a sister, but also best friends who love spending time together. They don’t feel like they are different from one another, because they may not share the same skin color, but they definitely share many traits and love the same things.

We say they are very beautiful the way they are, each on their own way.

Elton John focused on his health and has gotten fit during lockdown after walking off stage

With a huge number of iconic hits and as many awards under his belt, Sir Elton John is one of the most influential musicians in the music industry. Throughout his long and successful career, he treated the world with music pieces which seem to become more and more popular as time passes by.

He is one of those superstars who took the world by storm and has remained on the pedestal for a very long time.

Elton’s love for music started when he was very young. At the age of just 4, he learned how to play the piano and knew that music was his calling.

“As a child, I got approval and love when I sang at family gatherings or weddings, and I felt safe and happy. Then I came off stage and, again, I had to deal with what was going on in my life,” the singer told CBC.

Shutterstock

Speaking of his childhood and his relationship with his mother and father, Elton revealed in an article he wrote for the Guardian: “My dad was in the RAF so he was away from home a lot, and when he got back, he tried to impose new rules about everything: how I ate, how I dressed. That would set Mum off. I got the feeling they were staying together because of me, which just made things more miserable.

“The best way to escape it was to shut myself in my bedroom with my record collection and my comics, and drift off into an imaginary world, fantasizing that I was Little Richard or Ray Charles or Jerry Lee Lewis. I made my peace with it all years ago.

“They divorced when I was 13, both remarried, which I was happy about, although my relationship with both of them was always tricky. I was closer to Mum than Dad, but there were long periods when we didn’t speak. And my childhood is one thing I’m still sensitive about.”

Shutterstock

At the age of 17, Elton started performing with a group named Bluesology, and in 1967, he met the man who became his best friend for life and with whom he achieved great things and reached for the stars. The first ever encounter between Elton and the person behind almost all of his songs, Bernie Taupin, happened when they both saw an ad in a local newspaper for Liberty Records.

Bernie was the perfect lyrics writer, and Elton was the best at making music, so they made the perfect match.

Iconic Crocodile RockIsland GirlBennie and the Jets, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On MeNikitaI Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues and Candle In The Wind, among the rest, are just some of the songs the two worked on together. Pure magic, one would say!

Speaking of his eccentric performances, his huge glasses, and the costumes he wore on stage, Elton said it was that what gave him a sense of freedom. “Suddenly, I could dress how I wanted,” he said. “I could do what I wanted for the first time in my life.”

During a performance in Auckland, New Zealand, in 2020, as part of his final three-year tour Farewell Yellow Brick Road which he announced in 2018, Elton lost his voice. He was visibly distressed and told the audience: “I’ve just completely lost my voice. I can’t sing. I’ve got to go. I’m sorry,” and left the stage.

Elton revealed that he suffers from walking pneumonia, a type of lung infection, often caused by bacteria or viruses.

As he put his tour on hold because of the pandemic, Elton could focus on his health while at home.

“During lockdown I’ve really gotten fit. I’ve walked in the pool, I’ve played tennis,” he told People. “I just wanted to come out the other side not overweight and feeling that when I go back on tour I’m going to be the fittest I’ve ever been.” The singer is working out and feels great.

He is set to continue his tour in 2022.

Rude customer bullies a bag boy with Down Syndrome – an elderly woman steps up

How would you react if bullying takes place right in front of you? Would you step up for the victim and confront the bullies, or would you not interfere at all?

The truth is that different people react in a different manner when they find themselves in such situations. John Quiñones, the host of the TV show What Would You Do? observes how orinary people react when they face situations which impose the dilemma that requires from them to either take action or simply walk by. Everything is filmed using hidden cameras so each of the reactions is genuine.

In one of the episodes, a bagging clerk with Down Syndrome, played by an actor, is getting offended by rude customers, who are also actors. The filming of this particular episode took place at Kilroy’s Wonder Market within New Jersey. As customers were waiting for their turn at the register, they commented how slow the clerk was, with one even wondering why would anyone hire him in the first place.

Some of the customers are taken aback by the behavior of those who offend the clerk and decide to intervene, while others opt to ignore the entire situation and mind their own business.

The reaction of one particular customer, however, is what caught our attention.

An elderly woman, the one in the red shirt, sympathizes with the clerk and helps him with the packing, not wanting others to accuse him of being slow. She even gives him a hug before leaving the store.

These series, and videos like the one below, in which we see strangers stepping up for one another teach us that humanity is still pretty much alive, and we are so touched by that fact.

It doesn’t come as a surprise this emotional video has been seen by over 11 million people.

Regular customer at Dunkin Donuts learns cashier and her kids get evicted – pulls strings to save them

It’s so heartbreaking to know that it takes a little for many to be forced into homelessness. With the economies going down because of the ongoing pandemic, a huge number of people who have lost their jobs fail at making ends meet. When one is a single parent, it is even harder.

Suzanne Burke is a regular at the Dunkin Donuts drive-through in Mount Healthy. Over the years, she has always been greeted and served by 33-year-old employee and a mother of three, Ebony Johnson.

Source: YouTube/ WCPO 9

During the last couple of weeks, Burke noticed that Johnson wasn’t working. She got concerned and could feel something was wrong. Then, one day, Johnson was at her job again and Burke couldn’t help but ask if everything was fine.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t. As it turned out, Johnson and her kids got evicted and were now homeless. Despite her personal struggles, Johnson has always greeted her customers with a smile on her face, so not many people were aware of her condition. But since Bruke felt like the two became sort of friends over the years, she was aware of how devastated Johnson was.

“I wanted to give up,” Johnson told TODAY “I cried. I come to work every day and nobody knows what I’m going through because I always try to have a smile for our customers.”

Source: YouTube/ WCPO 9

Having working with social services her entire life, Bruke offered to use some of her connections in order to help Johnson get new lease of life.

Around nine months later, just before Christmas, Bruke managed to provide a new home for Johnson and her kids, all thanks to different organizations. She also received help from a number of local businesses that were more than happy to furnish the apartment.

Source: YouTube/ WCPO 9

“Oh my God, it was so amazing, I just busted out crying,” Johnson said of her family’s new place. “I never had a full furnished house. I never had help like this. I had been asking God to put us in a home before Christmas, and He really did. I’m just so thankful,” she told TODAY.

We are so glad this lovely family would get to celebrate Christmas in the warmth of their beautiful home.

Four brave skateboarding teens save drunk 15-year-old girl from sexual assault

Sometimes, being in the right place at the right time isn’t enough to make things right. Often, it also takes courage to show you are ready to stand for those in need and for the vulnerable.

What seemed to be a night out like any other turned into an experience these four young boys will never forget. Arnaud Nimenya, Carsyn Wright, James Hielema and Starlyn Rives-Perez were skateboarding in an underground parking lot when they saw a quite unusual sight. A young girl, around 15 years old and intoxicated, had been forcefully dragged through the place by a well-dressed older man. This alarmed the boys who could feel something wasn’t right. The girl’s condition was pretty bad. She was so drunk that one of the boys recalls how “she was screaming and yelling. She just wanted to be out of there. She was all scuffed up and dirty.”

But, after the boys approached closer in hopes of helping the girl get rid of that man, he claimed he was her father. She didn’t really say anything regarding that so they decided to step back.

You don’t want to really think of the worst in somebody like that. You don’t want that situation to be real, so you just brush it off and hope for the best,” Wright said.

However, the boys’ somehow knew he wasn’t telling the truth so they decided to turn around and check on the girl once again.

CBC News

It turned out it was a decision that would help save this lady’s life.

Having returned back, they were completely shocked by the gruesome sight. The man was sexually assaulting the young woman who was helpless and couldn’t defend herself.

You walk in, and you see something like that, and you freeze. You don’t know what to do,” Nimenya, one of the young men, said.

They knew they had to act as quickly as they could so they ran towards the attacker. He started running and attempted to escape the parking lot.

He was trying to walk out and walk away from us,” said Nimenya. “He pushed me aggressively out of the way, kinda like just gives me the smile, like, ‘I can do this. You can’t do anything about it.’

These young heroes wouldn’t just let the attacker off the hook so they were determined to catch him. This ended with a physical confrontation after the man started hitting the boys with one of their skateboards. Luckily, the police arrived just in time.

The boys were glad the woman was now safe and sound. The police officers, however, wouldn’t allow the boys’ heroic deed go unnoticed so they decided to thank them for their bravery and courage by inviting them to the Chief’s Awards Gala where they would be presented with awards and the public recognition they deserved.

We are so proud of the way these young men handled the situation. They even risked their life for the well-being of a vulnerable and defenseless lady. You guys are our real life heroes and a true inspiration.

Mom takes a picture of son on military respite, the woman behind him in the picture has a surprise

The Armed Forces are, sure enough, a challenge, and having a son or daughter who are in the Armed Forces is both amazing and equally if not more so challenging in every way, especially about their safety and longevity. Which is why you take every chance to see your child as much as you can at every opportunity!

Heather Almond has this realization every single day because her son Gavin recently enlisted in the US Army and is currently going through the basic training there!

Heather jumped at the chance to spend a weekend with her son, of course, and quickly made her way to Fort Benning in Georgia to see him.

Facebook/Gavin Plowman

Just like any proud mother, she took her son out to lunch closeby at a sushi restaurant, but when she asked for the cheque something completely unexpected happened!

What happened next she just had to share on Facebook:

“This weekend I went to visit my son at Fort Benning with my daughter and mother. He is at basic training and it was a family weekend.

He loves sushi, so we found a Japanese restaurant.

Facebook/Spotlight

We probably ordered $100 worth of food and when we went to pay, the waitress said that the people at the other table had picked up or bill and they said to thank your son for his service.

They were gone before I found this out, but I happened to snap a picture of my son that had one of the people in the background.

I don’t know who she is, but I can tell you that it meant the world to us. We will find a way to pay it forward.”

These kind people have seen that Gavin was spending time with his family, in between basic training, and without even going over to them, wanted to help out.

Gavin’s family really will remember this moment for all time!

Grieving Golden Retriever receives Christmas gift to fill the void recently left in his life

Every dog needs a friend with whom they can have fun and goofy around. Unfortunately for Cash, a 12-year-old Golden Retriever, his best furry friend passed away.

The two were inseparable and would spend their days running around together, but now, Cash was all by himself. Although his human parents love him to the moon and back, it was obvious he missed Rosie very much.

Marie Ahonen, Cash’s mom, decided it was just about time to bring another dog in the house. With Cash always being the good boy he is, that would be his ultimate Christmas present. Plus, they will provide a puppy with a forever home, which means they’ll grant the wishes of two dogs this year.

Source: YouTube/ Caters Clips

The family made sure to capture Cash’s reaction on tape. As they brought the box with the puppy in the room, the big brother could feel something was going on and felt curious to check it out. Just as he approached to sniff it, the lid opened and a tiny head popped up.

Needless to say, the bond was instant. These two are bound to become best friends.

Check Cash’s reaction in the video below and make sure you share it with a dog lover.

911 operator gets call from a 7-year-old boy hiding in the bathroom with his little sister

Bravery knows no age and quick-thinking can surely save lives. Carlos, a 7-year-old boy from Los Angeles possesses incredible heroism and exceptional intellect, two things which helped a dire situation end up with a positive outcome.

One day, as he and his family were inside their home, armed men entered the place. They held Carlos’ mom and dad at gunpoint while he and his little sister managed to hide in the bathroom.

Without hesitation, Carlos dialed 911, just as his mother taught him, and asked for help. On the other side of the line was 911 operator Monique Patino.

Source: YouTube/ CNN

She could hear Carlos explaining how some bad guys had guns and wanted to kill his mom and dad. “There’s some guys! They’re going to kill my mom and dad, can you come please. … Can you come really fast? PLEASE, PLEASE,” Carlos kept saying.

Patino, who is doing her job for many years said that out of all the calls she has ever received, this one was by all means the most “horrific” one. She was very scared for the boy’s safety and kept assuring him that police were on their way.

“Bring cops … lots of them!” Carlos begged.

Source: YouTube/ CNN

As Patino was doing all in her power to calm Carlos down, she suddenly heard loud screaming. “Once I heard the screams, I’m holding the phone and shaking, in tears. All I can hear is them screaming,” she told CNN.

The armed people heard noises coming from the bathroom and broke the door down. When they saw Carlos was on the phone, they demanded to tell them who he was talking to and he wasn’t afraid to tell them straight away that he called the police and that they were on their way to his house.

In the next moment, the gunned men fled the house without hurting anyone.

Source: YouTube/ CNN

The Los Angeles County sheriff’s department praised young Carlos’ bravery. If it wasn’t for him, God knows what would have happened. His parents must be proud and very thankful for saving their lives, especially his mother who knows that the emergency lessons she taught her son weren’t time wasted but came in handy when they needed them the most.

8-year-old boy living in a shed spends mom’s last $12 to change family’s fortune

Life can be unpredictable. The truth is that we can never know what tomorrow brings and that is why we should never lose hope that things could turn for the better even if we believe that there is no way out.

The story of an 8-year-old boy named Aaron Moreno who had high hopes and dreams teaches us exactly that.

It turned out that this bright boy loved having Cheetos and ice-cream, two of his favorite snacks, but his mother had a hard time providing for the family. Being on her own, with children and jobless, she could hardly afford to buy her children ice-cream, so whenever the ice-cream truck would stop by the shed in which they lived, her heart broke into million pieces.

“When I lost both my jobs in March because of the corona-virus pandemic and we had no option but to live in a shed, this kid was always asking for Hot Cheetos,” Aaron’s mom, Berenice Pacheco, told CNN. “It’s just $3, but when you have kids and you don’t have a job, it can make all the difference.”

Seeing his mom struggle, Aaron decided to do all in his power to help her. He also wanted his family to move out of the shed which didn’t have any bedrooms, bathrooms, or air-conditioning.

Using his mom’s last $12, Aaron decided to buy succulents and resell them.

“Our shed was hot and crowded and I wasn’t happy,” Aaron shared with CNN. “I started my garden so my mom won’t be stressed because I don’t like seeing her struggle.”

On the first day, Aaron managed to sell everything. He made little profit and decided to invest it in more succulents thus try to start a business. Both he and his mom would take a bus to the flower district to buy the supplies they needed for the day. Most times, they were selling from their shed, but occasionally, they would create pop-up shops.

Being proud of her son’s hard work, Berenice shared photos of him and his garden on Facebook. The photos gathered the attention of many and a friend decided to start a GoFundMe page in order to help the family.

The initial goal was to raise $1,000. Believe it or not, they ended up raising around $56,000, enough for a new place.

With the money, they were also able to bring Aaron’s sister home from Mexico.

“The best part of what Aaron has done for us is bringing back his sister,” Berenice said. “It was so hard being without her and we are a whole family again. And I was so happy to see they still had their amazing bond even if they spent so much time apart. It’s such a blessing.”

The succulents business is growing bigger and bigger all thanks to Aaron’s hard work and determination to improve his family’s life. He is now selling more types of flowers. What a thoughtful young man he is.

Neighbors gather together to get 70-year-old living in SUV with dogs an apartment

The number of people who are forced into homelessness is huge. Their life on the street is beyond difficult, but most times, there’s nothing they could do to change their fate. Luckily, there are always those who do, just like two women named Jennifer Husband-Elsier and her friend Melissa Akacha who stepped up for a women in need and changed her life.

70-year-old Lynn Schutzman had a great life. She worked as a pharmacists her entire life and was involved in a happy marriage. Sadly, all that changed when her husband of many years passed away and her health deteriorated. As a result, medical bills started piling up and she couldn’t make ends meet. Unfortunately, this loving woman ended up on the street and was forced to live in her SUV for over two years. The only companions she had were her two dogs.

Source: YouTube/ WBUR

One day, Jennifer Husband-Elsier took a notice of Lynn. In the days that followed, Jennifer saw Lynn parked at the Target parking lot multiple times and realized she was living in her car. The sight broke her heart and she knew she needed to do something.

The first thing that came to mind was to reach to the rest of the members of the community.

“Does anyone know anything about the elderly woman with 2 dogs that has recently been living in her car under the covered part of the Target parking lot? I spoke to the police and they said she’s been living like this for over 2 years in different areas of [King of Prussia]. … It’s an awful scenario. Really, really upsetting,” she wrote on the social media.

In no time, she got plenty of messages from people who shared her concerns. Many offered food and clothes, and although that was all very kind, it didn’t help solve Lynn’s problem.

Jennifer and her friend Melissa went a step further and started a GoFundMe page.

To their surprise, many people donated money and they were soon able to raise enough for a two year rent.

Before they told Lynn the happy news, the community gathered and decorated the place.

Needless to say, when Lynn checked it out she was over the moon and couldn’t hide her gratitude and the tears of joy which kept rolling down her face.

However, the kindness of the members of the community didn’t stop there. They bring Lynn cooked food and a bunch of things needed in order for her to function properly. Some even offer to walk her dogs, and Jennifer invited her over to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family.

“It wouldn’t have happened without these angels,” Lynn told ABC News. “I just want people to realize that this can happen to anybody. … I had a good job. I had good retirement but I got sick and health insurance only covers so much. … I have no children. I have no family. .. I had nowhere to turn. Sometimes, you know, just the kindness of strangers just makes all the difference in someone’s life.”

Costco employee searches for boy after finding Christmas list with unique requests

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. It is the time when true magic happens and miracles take place.

An employee at Costco named Eric Barragan was cleaning the aisles when a crumbled piece of paper caught his attention. He thought it was garbage, but he then noticed the handwriting belonged to someone young so he decided to take a closer look. It turned out it was a Christmas list.

Source: YouTube/ CBS Los Angeles

He expected the list to contain everything young children love, like toys, chocolates, or even fun games. And yes, the person who wrote it wanted some shirts, Minecraft figures, Hot Wheels (but only two), a horror video game called “Five Nights at Freddy’s”, a wallet, and a Gamestop gift card. However, it wasn’t all. There were two things written down that not many children would ask for; “Bringing peace and joy to the world” and “Just love.”

Barragan was astonished. “Most kids don’t ask for those things, and I thought that was pretty special,” he told CBS 2.

Source: YouTube/ CBS Los Angeles

As the list warmed his heart, he decided to track down the young person who wrote it and give him some of the things he wanted for Christmas. Well, at least those he could buy.

The only problem was that he had no idea who that list belonged to, he only knew the name of the kid because it was written down. Barragan could go through the camera footage, but that would take quite some time, so he decided to share the list on his Facebook page.

Soon after, he got a message from someone who knew the boy’s family. The list belonged to Julian Huey, who had no idea Christmas would come early for him.

Source: YouTube/ CBS Los Angeles

Barragan bought a bunch of presents, including everything from the list, and paid Julian a visit.

The boy was over the moon. He was so happy that he had a hard time hiding his excitement. His parents were as thrilled by the kind gesture. Julian’s mom explained how the family had a hard time make ends meet because they were relying on just a military pension.

“I think I spent the first half of the last 24 hours just in shock,” the mother told CBS 2.

Sweet Julian said, “All I want, mostly, my biggest thing is a big heart to love everyone and bring joy to the world.”

Standing in the store queue customers watch in disbelief when a cashier pays for veteran’s groceries

Have you ever filled the conveyor with your groceries then realized you forgot your wallet, that tremendously embarrassing “oh sugar” moment! Maybe even one stage further, getting told in front of a crowded queue of people that your card has been declined!

One guy recently had to go through exactly this scenario, but he really did not expect what happened to him after that…

Flickr/Steve Snodgrass

Standing in the Dollar General queue was Tim McKellar, he saw a real sight, a hardly believable moment that he would remember forever!

Tim was waiting to pay for his groceries and the cashier scanned items from the elderly Gentleman in front of him, he was ever so proud and wearing a veteran cap.

When the guy gave his card for payment, he couldn’t remember his pin, his card was declined, poor chap.

Tim posted to Facebook:

“He tried a couple different times when another lady offered to help him again with no luck.”

At that moment the cashier stepped in and changed the tone of the day completely for this veteran…

Flickr/Steve Snodgrass

Working at the Dollar store, Jacob Wittman, at the cash register that day decided that he could not watch the guy swipe and it not work again, so he pulled out his wallet …his wallet!

Tim said:

“That’s when the cashier Jacob Wittman pulled his wallet out and told the lady (who had been helping) to scan his card.”

The veteran, was a little bit confused what was going on, he asked the cashier, have you just bought my groceries?

Jacob said:

“Yes, sir I did. And, you don’t owe me a dime.”

Tim felt so touched by what just happened, that human connection he just witnessed, he felt the need to record it and share it online, the world needed to see it too!

He said finally:

“Now this kid obviously makes minimum wage or real close to it and probably didn’t have the extra money to spare. I thanked him for what he had done, asked for his name and took his picture.”

“Let’s give this Good Samaritan the acknowledgment that he deserves.”

Flickr/Steve Snodgrass

The post got about 3,000 positive reactions and has been shared over 1,400 times, that is certainly the acceptance and congratulations that were deserved!

Some comments Facebook said:

“Such an awesome act of kindness. Sending you a big hug and many blessings from miles and miles away.”

“Jacob, you are a good-hearted young man. Thank you for helping the elderly and veterans. God bless you!”

“God bless you, young man. So many people could learn from you, what it is to show kindness. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you.”

It is really lovely acts of kindness like this, one human reaching out to another, someone in need that inspires us to make a real difference in others lives and to perhaps do the same for someone else too.

Dad posts plea for 5-yr-old son in wheelchair who waits for bus in rain and group of teens answer it

Living with any form of disability can be quite challenging, and sweet Ryder Kilam, a five year old boy who is in a wheelchair, knows that best.

In order to get to school, Ryan uses the bus, just like his friends, but the difference is that they can easily wait for the bus to make a stop in front of their home while still inside and simply run towards it when they spot it. Ryan, on the other hand, has to wait outside, at the bottom of the sidewalk, otherwise, he could easily miss it because his house is around 75 feet away.

No matter if it’s sunny, rainy, or showy, Ryan has to stay outside waiting.

His parents, who make all in their power to ease his life as much as possible, take him outside earlier, but when the weather is bad, that doesn’t seem like the perfect solution.

One time, they placed a patio umbrella at the bottom of the driveway in order to keep him from the sun and the rain, but even slight wind would negate the covering of the umbrella.

Unable to find a solution to their problem, Ryan’s parents decided to ask the community for help.

It took a while, but eventually, the post reached just the right people. Professor Dan McKena from the Westerly High School who teaches construction technology though that getting involved in a project of building a “bus hut” for little Ryan would be of great importance both for the little one and his students. While doing a good deed, the students would be given an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice, so it seemed like a win-win situation.

“I think my first email was, absolutely we’re in,” professor McKena told WJAR. “We’ve done other projects before. I think it’s very important for my students to learn not only the aspects of construction but of being involved in the community dealing with people outside of the school environment.”

Home Depot also got involved in the project and donated $300 worth of materials. The rest of the expenses were covered by Ryan’s mom and dad.

The final result was a an ADA accessible structure perfect for the soon-coming weather!

Ryan’s dad said that his son loves his bus hut so much that he wants to spend time inside even when he’s not waiting for the bus. “He loves it, he actually after school makes us stay out here and hang out, now it’s his new fort.”

Thanks to professor McKena and his students, one sweet boy’s life became much easier. Thank you!

Brother asks to hold baby sister and starts to sing the sweetest song for her

When these mom and dad were about to bring the newest addition to the family home, they feared of the reaction of their older son. Neither of them could help but wonder whether the boy would love his baby sister. Would he feel neglected? Would he be jealous?

Luckily, they had nothing to fear about. It turned out that their son couldn’t wait to hold his baby sister in his arms. He loved spending time with her and taking care of her. However, one very special moment the siblings shared is what caught their parents’ attention.

As they placed her in his lap, the proud and overly excited brother started singing a very special song to her; “You are so beautiful.”

Source: YouTube/ mohdnaserhussain naser

Not many people are familiar with the story behind the lyrics of this iconic piece of music. It was written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher and celebrated Preston’s mother who was a stage actress. It meant a lot to the musician, so when he learned that Fisher used it during concerts to attract women’s attention, Preston felt appalled.

Years after it was written, musician Joe Cocker released a slower version of it and the song became his highest charting solo hit, peaking at number five on the United States’ Billboard Hot 100.

Until this day, it remains one of the most beautiful songs ever made, so the little brother singing it to his sister is beyond heartmelting.

We are so glad this emotional moment was caught on tape. You can take a look at it in the video below.

Elderly man gets greeted by “a friend” who crawls out of the ice every day

What makes a good friend? Is it someone you share similar interests or passions with? Someone who understand you and is there when you need them the most? Well. the truth is that friendship can sometimes happen between the most unlike friends. If you don’t trust us, just take a look at the following story.

A man named Seppo Laamanen from Finland, 65, got outside of his home one day just to spot a strange animal standing at his door. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he realized the creature was a wild otter. Clearly undernourished, it was obvious the otter was looking for some food.

Source: YouTube/ StoryTrender

Seppo was kind enough to give his visitor some warms and fish. Once the otter filled its belly, it went away. Seppo was sure it was a one time encounter, but he couldn’t be more wrong. The otter kept coming and started feeling more and more comfortable around Seppo.

Even today, the sweet animal pays its human friend a visit every now and then. Isn’t that adorable?

Teen saves bus driver and panicked classmates during emergency

We tend to believe that young people are careless. The truth is that most of them are only interested in hanging out with friends and having fun. But there are also those who pay close attention to their lessons and gather knowledge on different subjects, something that comes in handy when they need it the most.

A teen named Matt Stauffer from Carbon County saved the day and the lives of his fellow classmates thanks to his quick thinking and the emergency-related lessons he had at school.

Source: YouTube/ WNEP

That morning seemed like any other. He boarded the school bus and headed to his seat when he noticed his friends had strange looks on their faces. It was obvious they were frightened and confused. Matt had no idea what was going on, but he then became aware of the danger that was lurking.

When he took a look at the bus driver, Matt knew trouble would be on the way unless he reacted quickly. The driver didn’t feel fine and was leaning out of his seat.

Speaking to ABC affiliate WNEP 16, Matt said, “So I turned around, and the bus driver was like leaning out of his seat and only his seatbelt was holding him up.”

Source: YouTube/ WNEP

He rushed to the driver’s seat and noticed his foot was still on the gas pedal. Matt reached for the keys and turned the bus’ engine off. He then instructed the students to get out of the bus and called 911.

“Once they saw I was taking control, they all listened to me and they got off the bus and they all stayed in one area,” Matt said of his friends.

Source: YouTube/ WNEP

Luckily, first responders arrived just in time to take the bus driver to the hospital. He’s now feeling fine and is home resting.

Superintendent Dr. Brian Gasper told WNEP 16, “It’s refreshing to know that the students paid attention and employed the skills that we gave them last week, but also just snapping into action and the focus that he and the other students exhibited.”

As the school district is planning on expressing appreciation to Matt and the rest of the students, the teen says his act wasn’t heroic, he just did what he thought was right.

This is the coolest and sweetest story ever, also grab a tissue

We never know what plans God has for us, nor what life brings, but the only thing we know is that we should never lose hope that at the end things are going to turn just fine as long as we don’t stop believing in miracles.

This is the amazing story of Heather Crockett Oram of Utah, submitted by her. It’s about her life, her struggles, and her joys. She’s being honest when she speaks of her inability to become a mother of a child she would carry inside of her, which doesn’t make her less of a mother to the beautiful children who entered her life this way or the other. It’s so touching and sweet that you may not be able to hold your tears back.

“When I was 6 weeks old, I went to have an ultrasound for tummy issues and they noticed my ovaries were not hooked up right. The doctor at the time felt it would be best to remove them completely. When I was 13 years old, I found out I would never be able to have children. It was then that I started researching adoption. As I grew older my biggest fear was to have to someday tell a prospective spouse that I would never be able to birth our children. Then I met Jason. He was a single dad to 2 wonderful little boys and we fell head over heels.

Instagram/mariacamilaphoto

“Before we got engaged, I told him the biggest secret of my life. One that only a handful of people knew about me. I sobbed as I told him. He then grabbed my face and told me it didn’t matter how our children came to us. They would be OUR children. Last June we were approved to adopt. After a lot of research, we didn’t want to go through an agency. There were too many shady ones out there and they cost close to $55K when all is said and done. So we set out to do it on our own. We ‘marketed’ ourselves online and through social media. We made a Facebook adoption page and paid for targeted ads. We had an Instagram page with pictures of our life and we also put our profile on adoption.com. We were contacted by a handful of women and most turned out to be scams. Then we got a message on Facebook. A young woman emailed us telling us that her friend was pregnant and looking for a family.

“September 1st we got a phone call from this woman in Missouri and we talked for an hour and a half. Over the next month we built our relationship and became increasingly excited. However, she never got us official proof of pregnancy. People can fake ultrasounds and blood tests online all the time. I was ready to commit because I trusted this woman, but my husband wanted to renew our adoption.com profile one more time. We renewed it on October 1st and on October 2nd we got a message from another expectant mother. She had been watching our profile and wanted to meet us. Two days later we met in a little diner 20 minutes from our house. Just when we thought she had stood us up, in walked a very pregnant girl and her mom. We hugged and she showed us the ultrasounds of a little baby boy. He then started kicking and she had me feel her belly. Towards the end of breakfast she asked us how we felt. She then asked us if we would adopt her baby and love him forever. Jason and I sobbed. In the middle of a diner. In complete shock. 3 weeks later we stood there and watched as our son Andy was born. I was the first to hold him and kiss his tiny hands. That was October 30th, 2017.

“As we took Andy home and adjusted to being new parents, I had continued to talk to the first expectant mom we had matched with. She had still never given us proof. She had also told us congratulations and that she found another family for her baby. I was happy for her and we maintained occasional contact over the next couple of months. In January of this year I received a phone call from this same woman. She told me she had just told the other family she did not feel good about them adopting her baby. She then told me that she knew this baby was supposed to be ours. I stood there holding my 3-month-old baby boy and she sent me pictures of an ultrasound of the baby boy growing in her stomach. I was speechless. But I also knew. Deep down I knew.

“Over the next two weeks my husband and I prayed a lot about adding another newborn to our family only months apart. The same resounding answer came again and again. Six weeks after that phone call we flew out with Andy to Missouri and met a woman and her three children the night before she was being induced. We all instantly connected. The next day we stood at her bedside and watched as our son Ellis was born. Jason even got to cut the cord. I was first to hold him and again kiss his tiny hands.

|Never did we imagine having 2 newborn babies only 4 months apart. Adoption is an amazing thing. Because of a woman’s greatest sacrifice and selfless decision, I became a mom. To 2 of the most perfect baby boys I could have ever asked for.

|We have open adoptions with both of our boys’ birth parents. We talk and send pictures and recently met up with Andy’s birth parents at a nearby park.

“Four months after Ellis was born we had a strong feeling to reach out to his birth mom and she had mentioned they were in a rough spot. Jason and I decided to then fly her oldest child out to visit us for 10 days so he could spend some time with Ellis. Sean had never been on a plane or been that far away from his home. We instantly fell in love with this sweet boy. 10 days eventually turned into all summer.

Courtesy of Heather Crockett Oram

“At the end of summer, he asked if he could to watch his new friends try out for football. Before we knew it, he was talking to the coaches and asked if he could try out. Sean made the top football team for 8th grade in his first year ever playing an organized sport. He called his mom and asked her if he could stay. She said whatever would make him happy. Sean has now been living with us for 6 months and his football team made it all the way to playoffs.

Instagram/mariacamilaphoto

“Never did we imagine one year ago that we would be adding 3 more children in under 9 months (especially all boys) to the 2 that we already had. I have not given birth to any of the 5 boys we have at home right now. But I am their mom. We have since finalized both Andy and Ellis’ adoptions. They are officially Orams. We share custody with our oldest two boys and their mom. And we don’t have a timeline as to how long Sean will end up staying. Family does not have to be made from blood. It can come in many shapes and sizes. Love is all that matters. So here we are. A current family of 7. We love each other deeply. And go on a lot of adventures together. It is not always easy. There have been many ups and downs and everything in between. But we wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Rescue Pit Bull singles out boy with cancer and runs over to him

Pit Bulls are most undervalued animals. They have a reputation of being aggressive, but that’s far from reality. This breed is so sympathetic, loyal, and caring, that they used to be considered nanny dogs and were often left to keep an eye on young children. Over the years, however, they started being used in fights which led for them to be dubbed hostile.

Aladdin is a very special Pit Bull who seems to posses power to sense when someone’s feeling down. This dog had a very tough life. Someone starved him so much in the past that he lost 12 of his teeth and experienced severe orthopedic issues which left him with permanently damaged knees, and as a result, Laddy, as his new mom calls him, can’t bend his legs. Despite all that, he is always there for everyone in need of a friend and some love.

Source: YouTube/ The DoDo

After Michele Schaffer adopted Aladdin, she realized he could be a great therapy dog, and she was right. Shortly after he became a therapy dog, Aladdin received an award from the American Humane Association for the work well done.

Schaffer shared that one time, as she and Laddy were among a group of people and he got petted, he suddenly jumped and headed towards a young boy. As it turned out, the little guy had brain cancer, and Laddy could sense that.

Aladdin’s life story is so worth sharing because he’s a proof that no matter how hard things get, we should always find a reason to live for and be there for those who go through struggles.

Make sure you watch the entire video. It’s going to melt your heart.
