Parents tend to teach their kids to be independent and autonomous. They teach them to decide what’s good and what’s bad, and what suits the best for them. Parents start doing that really early and the process of preparing the kids to face the reality of life is a long one. Lottie Daley, a friend of Russell Brand, gives a different perspective of this independence.
Lottie was a guest in ‘This Morning’ and the interview is about this – independence of the kids and their autonomous choices. Lottie talks about the our own choices, or more specifically the autonomy of our bodies. This process of learning about the autonomy starts from the birth of the child.
Lottie explains herself in details. According to her, we should always make sure we get the ‘approval’ of the child, whenever we want to do something to them. As one of the illustrations she provides is changing diapers. We should allow the kids to be aware of what’s going to happen to them.
Getting straightforward answers like ‘yes’ of ‘no’ at the early stages may not be possible, but that’s not a problem for letting the kid know what’s really going on. Lottie adds that children might be OK when they know what’s happening to them. Giving permission requires discussion and children should be trained to decide what’s good and what’s bad for them.
Additionally, Lottie exemplifies these statements with concrete personal situation. She talks about her daughters and simple acts like tickling. Lottie explains that her daughters are aware of this ‘giving a permission’ and they are completely fine if Mum tickles them. However, they are totally not fine with being tickled by someone else. Upon asking them if it is OK to be tickled by some else, they say ‘no’. The permission is granted to the mother only. They add that they are comfortable exclusively with their own mother.
Nevertheless, Lottie was not the only guest in ‘This Morning’. Vanessa Feltz does not share Lottie’s opinion. She argues that simple acts like tickling for example is showing love to someone, not a physical threat that requires permission.
She also adds that tickling is a very innocent act, an interaction with a child that means care and playfulness. It means that you like the child and he/ she is dear to you. Vanessa understands the autonomy of the child in totally different way than Lottie. Some minor interactions with the kids is not an invasion to the personal space.
Anyhow, Interesting opinions. What’s your opinion on this? Would you agree with Vanessa’s opinion or Lottie’s claims?
Colby Swift is unlike most American teenagers. This 19-year-old cowboy and fence-painter from Midfield, Texas is likely to get far in one of the best talent shows on the planet, American Idol.
What is special about this boy is that he’s a God given talent. Believe it or not, before he got to take the big stage and stand in front of the audience and the panel of judges, he never sang in public. And yes, he’s never been to Hollywood either. But that was all about to change. As you already assume, he did both in one night. He performed “Cast No Stones” by Cody Jinks and got a ticket to the Hollywood round. This boy says of himself, “I’m just me, I’m Colby Swift. I ain’t gotta be nobody else,” and we love how confident he is.
The strict judges had a lot to say about his performance. Some loved it, some not that much, but they all agreed how Colby’s talent was on spot. What he lacked was practice. However, for someone singing live for the first time, he nailed it, and judge Luke didn’t want this boy to leave the show empty-handed. After everyone took their time to comment Colby’s singing, he got three yeses, which was more than enough for him to go to the next round.
During the Hollywood Week, Colby chose to perform “Before The Next Teardrop Falls” by Freddy Fender, while playing the guitar. But in the middle of the song, judge Luke asked Colby to continue singing without his guitar, as though he could feel the a capella performance this contestant was about to give would be something truly extraordinary. Colby’s voice touched everyone and enchanted the crowd. As for the judges, they all gave this cowboy standing ovations. Later, Colby described this once-in-a-lifetime experience as the best he’s ever had, saying: “To have Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry stand up for me – that’s a blessing, man…I’d never thought I’d do that.”
But, as it turned out, the judges weren’t done preparing surprises for this young man. When the time came for the contestants that go to the next round to be announced, Luke Bryan asked Colby to step forward. The cowboy’s heart was racing as he was impatiently waiting to hear whether he’d stay on the show or go home, when Luke asked him, “What size shoe are you, Colby?” This definitely wasn’t what Colby expected to hear.
The audience was also left puzzled and was waiting in anticipation to understand what was going on. Apparently, Luke spotted some holes in Colby’s boots and was willing to give him his, saying, “Those boots are made for walking to the next round.” Wow! Isn’t this the best way of announcing someone’s going to the next round? Amazing!
This is definitely something you should check out yourself. As for Colby, we do believe he’s a real star in the making.
The encounter between two complete strangers and music lovers that took place at the St. Pancras train station turned into a memorable experience that was quickly spread all over the social media.
This wasn’t the first time for 91-year-old Denis Robinson of London, England to visit this public place. He occasionally stops by and makes passersby’s day with the lovely music he produces on the big piano. This time, however, another person joined his performance and what they did is mesmerizing.
As Denis was casually playing, he caught the attention of Ceili O’Connor, an actress playing Gumbie/Jennyanydots in “Cats.” She and some of her fellow colleagues were taking the train as they tour the globe performing the musical. Ceili’s friend, Matthew Rowland, who plays Skimbleshanks in the show knew something very unique was about to take place once he saw Ceili approaching the elderly man, so he grabbed his phone and started recording.
Ceili’s vocal abilities are really powerful. Currently, she understudies for Grizabella, the character singing “Memories.” She once again showed her talent by letting her voice loose at the open space of the train station. She placed her arm on Denis’ shoulder and started singing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” The old man’s music, and this young girl’s singing complement each other just perfectly.
People stopped doing what they were doing and gathered around these two amazing performers. Everyone was having a great time and got to enjoy a great show.
Matthew shared the video on Twitter, writing: “We’re on our way to Brussels for the next leg of @CatsMusical tour. I saw this guy playing and called @CeiliOConnor as I knew he needed a singing partner. Captured a bit of the magic here. He was so sweet, saying Ceili ‘made his day’ and that she must be ‘in a show.’ Precious x”
He didn’t expect for it to go viral in such a short time. Tweeter users were praising Ceili and Denis for bringing so much joy to everyone that day.
Ceili was flattered so many people saw the video and took their time to comment. She took to Twitter to thank everyone, writing: “Thank you for all the kind responses but the real star is my lovely new friend on the piano who lifted us all up by sitting down and playing his heart out. I could have sang with him all day.”
“I wanted to share this wonderful man with you because he certainly loves later life and is proving you can still spread joy and do what you love later on in life,” she added.
This serendipitous encounter reminded us just how little it takes to be happy. Apparently, you only need a piano, and a great vocal, as well as some creative urge.
Ceili and the rest of the cast will be next performing in Brussels, Belgium, and we hope they’ll enjoy a great success.
Take a look at Ceili and Denis’ performance in the video below.

Lawren Cole Galloway, a mother of four children, got a very unpleasant surprise by her teen daughter. Olivia, the oldest child, was 14 years old and one night she brought home a crying baby. This shocked the mother. With all of her duties and responsibilities, she couldn’t handle raising another baby, even though she knew very well how to take care of a small baby. Olivia, on the other hand, had no clue.
However, as a good mother, she did help her daughter. Whenever Olivia was having a problem with the baby, whenever the baby started crying loudly, Lawren was there to take some pictures. She started giving her daughter a real-life lesson. Besides giving her daughter a good lesson, she was persistent to make her daughter give William back.
Fortunatelly for the teenager William is not a real baby. He is a baby doll, very real in appearance and needs. He was programmed to show all types of behaviour of a real baby. He was even programmed to cry for some natural ‘needs’.
Lawren posted the story on Facebook and she wrote:
“Meet William. He’s Olivia’s interactive baby assignment for her Early Childhood Education Class. Now, meet Olivia with William. She’s had him since Friday night. She is absolutely exhausted and ready to quit the class and give William back. (Maybe even throw him back).”
This was a very educational experience for both of them. While Lawren was having fun looking at her daughter’s struggle, Olivia was very annoyed.
“She was crying real tears while feeding him his bottle. She was begging me to help her because she just wanted to get some sleep. ?? Yeah, no.”
<– wp:image {“id”:38417} –>
Lawren further explains the Olivia’s struggle. She adds that William’s crying and ‘call for attention’ made Olivia’s dinners mess. She couldn’t properly eat or take care of herself. Lawren wrote:
“Long story short, Olivia had to warm her plate up 3 times. His feedings were taking nearly 20 minutes, he required a burp, diaper change and about 12 minutes of rocking. After a disastrous dinner, Olivia went to take a shower. She loaded William up in his car seat and took him in the bathroom with her. She finished up rather quickly and explained that she decided to take a bath instead.”
This experience was very frustrating for Olivia. The simple everyday routines, like showering or washing the hair, became unreal. The baby was always in a need of a ‘mother’.
Fortunately, Monday was the day when William was supposed to be given back. Olivia couldn’t wait for that moment. Since the baby doll is programmed to record the mother’s babysitting score, she turned out to be a terrible mother. She failed in almost every task. The baby’s record showed ‘rough handling’.
Her mother wrote:
“Olivia failed her assignment. Having siblings in NO way prepared her for what it might be like to have her own child. This assignment should be mandatory for both boys and girls in high school.”
Daniil Chernenko, the baby boy from Ukraine who was fighting for his life, has lost the battle. Daniil has fallen into a bucket of hot water, while his mother was preparing him for bath.
This accident did a terrible damage to the boy’s skin. Almost 80 per cent of his skin was burnt. The doctors were trying very hard to save the boy’s life, but the damage was too great.
Eleven days he has been in the hospital. The critical condition did not improve. Just two days after his first birthday Daniil lost the battle.
The family’s shock is obvious. Their sorrow and grief for the boy cannot be explained with any words. Tatyana, his mother, cannot forgive herself for the accident and the death of her boy.
A tragedy that brought tears to our eyes.
Original Story:
Tatyana knew what to do and how to take clean her baby. The 11-month old baby boy Daniiel was Tatyana’s son. His tragic fate devastated the whole family.
One day, while Tatyana was preparing the boy for bath, a mistake led to a terrible accident. This accident later proved to be deadly for Daniiel.
The boy fell into a bucket with hot water. The accident happened during the process of mixing hot and cold water. While Tatyana was taking the cold water, the bucket with hot water was next to the table. Daniiel was very near it.
“I TURNED AND SAW HOW HE FELL IN THE BOILING WATER,” THE DISTRAUGHT MUM TOLD THE SUN.
“I RUSHED TO THE BUCKET AND PULLED HIM OUT.
“I HUGGED HIM, THEN WRAPPED HIM IN A COTTON CLOTH.
“WHEN I UNWRAPPED HIM, I SAW HIS SKIN WAS PEELING OFF.”
As soon as the deadly accident occurred, the boy was sent to the hospital in Odessa. The boy’s condition was critical.
80 per cent of the boy’s skin was horrible burnt. This life-threatening condition was known to the doctors and they were trying to give everything they could just to save the boy.
The only body parts that weren’t burnt were his toes, fingers and his forehead.
Later reports say that the medical team did everything they could just to save Daniiel’s life. However, they knew that the injuries are terrible and this may lead to certain death.
The hospital representative said for the media said:
“HIS CONDITION IS VERY SERIOUS,” VADIM SHUKHTIN, THE HEAD OF ODESSA REGION CLINICAL HOSPITAL, SAID.
“HE IS RECEIVING ALL POSSIBLE TREATMENT AND MEDICATION.”
The accident devastated and crushed Tatyana. She refused to leave the boy’s bedside and she was always blaming herself for this accident.
Nevertheless, police said that this is an accident and they will treat it like that.
We can’t imagine the parents’ pain. The loss of a child is a nightmare for every parent out there. Our prayers and thoughts are with Daniil’s family. May he rest in peace.
Acts of heroism and bravery are rarity nowadays. In the past years there are less and less cases where individuals have heroically saved lives or helped other people in great need.
Many people do not want to risk their own life in order to help an individual that is in a dangerous situation. Also, there are people who panic due to such events and their help is not provided.
Valerio Catoia from Italy is not like most of us. First, he showed the world that he is a real hero, and second, he is not afraid to risk his life in order to help the others.
Valerio has Down’s Syndrome, but that didn’t stop him to think rationally and build his body and skills like a professional swimmer.
He has been swimming since he was a kid. He trained a lot in order to achieve his goals. Led by that notion, he was even training for the Special Olympics, where he actually swam.
His bravery and skills were put in action while he was walking the beautiful Lazio shores. He and his father were having a wonderful time. However, something got Valerio’s attention – young girls were drowning near the shore.
The peaceful time Valerio and his father had was interrupted by loud shouts and calls for help. What was even more dangerous to the girls were the currents. They were being pulled back into the ocean. These girls, ten and fourteen years old, desperately needed help.
Fortunately, Valerio was near them. Both, Valerio and his father, immediately jumped into action. They got in the sea, started swimming towards the girls and to their luck, the father and the son took them out of the sea.
Valerio knew very well the saving procedure. While he was swimming with the girl towards the shore, he tried to keep her head above the water. The girls were now safe thanks to the bravery of these two people.
As soon as the girls were safe, the lifeguards took over them. However, the real heroes of this saving operation are Valerio and his father. Without their help the girls’ fate would have been totally different.
People and media immediately acknowledged Valerio’s bravery. They recognized him as a brave and very good-hearted man.
We definitely need more people like Valerio. We need people that care about the others, that will do everything they can just to provide help and support to the others. Helping and supporting each other make us humans, we don’t want to see evil and selfishness in this world of ours. Bravo Valerio!
It’s time for a good laugh. Here is the joke that will put a smile on your face:
An Indian walks into a cafe….
An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand and pulling a male buffalo with the other. He says to the waiter:
“Want coffee.”
The waiter says, “Sure, Chief. Coming right up.”
He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee.
The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp, turns and blasts the buffalo with the shotgun, causing parts of the animal to splatter everywhere and then just walks out.
The next morning the Indian returns.
He has his shotgun in one hand, pulling another male buffalo with the other.
He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter:
“Want coffee.”
The waiter says, “Whoa, Tonto! We’re still cleaning up your mess from yesterday. What was all that about, anyway?”
The Indian smiles and proudly says,
“Training for a position in United States Senate. Come in, drink coffee, shoot the bull, leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of day.”
Whether it’s true or not, Irish are believed to be drinking to excess, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that there are a bunch of jokes about them regarding the consumption of liquor. However, we believe the one below is one of the best out there.
This is gonna make you burst out laughing 🙂
Two men were sitting next to each other at Murphys Pub in London. After awhile, one bloke looks at the other and says, “I can’t help but think, from listening to you, that you’re from Ireland.”
The other bloke responds proudly, “Yes, that I am!”
The first one says, “So am I! And where about from Ireland might you be?”
The other bloke answers, “Im from Dublin, I am.”
The first one responds, “So am I!”
“Mother Mary and begora. And what street did you live on in Dublin?”
The other bloke says, “A lovely little area it was. I lived on McCleary Street in the old central part of town.”
The first one says, “Faith and it’s a small world. So did I! So did I! And to what school would you have been going?”
The other bloke answers, “Well now, I went to St. Marys, of course.”
The first one gets really excited and says, “And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate?”
The other bloke answers, “Well, now, lets see. I graduated in 1964.”
The first one exclaims, “The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same place tonight. Can you believe it, I graduated from St. Marys in 1964 my own self!”
About this time, Vicky walks up to the bar, sits down and orders a drink.
Brian, the barman, walks over to Vicky, shaking his head and mutters, “I’ts going to be a long night tonight.”
Music has the power to lift our spirit up whenever we feel down. The notes and the tones allow our brain to relax as they positively affect all our senses. Different people prefer different music styles, but many agree how the instrumental music is what really touches the soul. No need of words, as the music alone speaks of itself and enables us to create our own story as we listen to the melody.
And now if you are a fan of this kind of music, then you are definitely going to fall in love with this instrumental cover of the all time hit “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen.
This song seems to be many artists’ first choice when it comes to renditions. It was first released back in 1984 with little success. Later, it was recorded again by Jeff Buckely. But it looks like it really rose to popularity after being featured in the film Shrek in 2001.
Ever since, the song has been performed by numerous musicians. However, many agree how the rendition done by 2CELLOS is one of the best.
This duo consists of Luka Sulic from Croatia and Stjepan Hauser from Slovenia. These incredibly talented cellists met when they were both just teenagers, and released their first video back in 2011; a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” that has staggering 830 million views on YouTube. Ever since, their instrumental music enchanted fans from all over the world. Other notable covers they performed are “Thunderstruck” and The Pirates of the Carribean theme.
This time, 2CELLOS did justice to “Hallelujah” and the result is too good to be put into words. It’s something you have to listen yourself. Enjoy!
Veterans who have been fighting for the nation deserve more financial and moral support. They gave everything just to serve the country. Therefore, they deserve to be socially and financially secured as our payback to their contribution.
Being a veteran and homeless is not just unfair, but even depressing. Imagine the pain those veterans feel. Their sacrifice for the nation’s well-being led them to the streets. This is exactly how Nick, a US veteran, felt.
Nick’s story is known to us due to Jake Holloway’s actions. This regular guy accidently found out what Nick was struggling with.
Jack is as a regular customer to Walmart and Target in Altoona. He has been shopping there regularly and one interesting thing caught his attention. Whenever he went to the stores, he couldn’t but notice a silver Jeep parked in the parking space.
One day he was curious enough to find out what’s really going on with this vehicle. As he approached the Jeep, he was shocked by what he saw.
There was a sticker on the window with ‘I served’ written on it. Jack immediately figured it out that the owner of the Jeep was a US veteran. He decided to talk to him.
Nick, the veteran’s name, was kind enough to explain Jack everything about himself. His story is very sad.
Nick has been serving in Iraq as a US soldier. He has been in Iraq four times and defended nation’s interests. However, Nick told Jack that his wife left him after the fourth tour. This led to losing everything he had, except his Jeep and his dog.
This situation ruined him. With all those existential problems and the emotional breakdown, Nick had nowhere to go. He has been sleeping in his Jeep for some time.
Even though he had a job at the Department of Transportation, he hasn’t been paid off yet. That even increased his problems.
This touched Jack very deeply. Aware of Nick’s problems and needs, he decided to help him out. As soon as Jack went back home, he posted this story on Facebook. The help of the community was needed.
Regarding his encounter with the veteran, Jack says:
“Told him I liked his Jeep. He liked my Toyota.”
He adds:
“And, I asked him if he was alright. He told me his name was Nick and after he had got back from overseas his wife left him and left him with his Jeep and his dog. He’s got no money and broke as a joke. Told me he just got a job at the DOT but hasn’t been paid yet. Said he had started selling things off the Jeep to have any money at all.”
Jake continued:
“It broke my heart. If you wanna do something for someone out of pure selflessness, please…,” Jake said, imploring others to help. “If you see him. Out of the kindness of your heart. Do something nice for him or his best friend (the boxer dog). Few bucks. A gift. Some dog food. That’s my request. Makes me sick to see a soldier on the street.”
The message that has been sent was successful. Many people learnt about Nick through Jack’s post. The help that was needed was about to be provided.
In just a short time since the posting of the story, many people donated money, cards and supplies to Nick. They even donated for Nick’s dog.
WHO-TV reports that one man was so deeply affected by the story that he went to Walmart and paid for Nick and his dog a week in a hotel.
Nick’s happiness and gratitude were enormous.
Thanks to Jack and his good heart, Nick’s story is now known to us. This man could have ignored the veteran, but he did something else. He did everything he could just to help the veteran.
People also showed that they do care about the veterans. Their support, financial and moral, encouraged Nick to fight for better life and improving his existential capacities.
This story is what we really need. People should help each other, provide support and encouragement even when the institutions have forgotten to do so. If we don’t help each other, who will?
Rare occasions of anxiety are a normal emotional condition. Isolated cases of anxiety can happen to anyone, depending on the emotional situation of the person. However, regular anxiety problems that lead to panic attack or extreme nervousness can be classified as medical conditions. People who suffer from anxiety disorder know how scary and painful it is. What’s even more discouraging is that people who are around us may not understand what’s really going on and they may not know what kind of help to provide to the person who has problems with anxiety, particularly when the panic attacks occur.
Led by this notion, and also by the idea of raising people’s awareness on anxiety disorder, Kelsey Darragh posted a very detailed personal reflections on the disorder. Her post was specifically published for enlightening the people how to help a person with anxiety disorder in case of a panic attack. The Buzzfeed writer posted a list of things that can help her overcome the panic attack and normalize her body. This list was made for her boyfriend. Since he did not have any idea how to help his girlfriend when these attacks occur, this list may be found quite useful.
I have panic & anxiety disorder. My boyfriend does not… but wants to understand it so he can help me. SO I made him this list! Feel free to share w ur loved ones that need guidance! pic.twitter.com/k8pcCfzMcj
Kelsey’s list starts with her emotional condition. She explains to her boyfriend that panic attacks make her feel scared and that it should not make him annoyed. She doesn’t know why she feels scared, but she knows what helps her to overcome that feeling.
She continues with the importance of breathing. Kelsey’s explaining her boyfriend about the breathing exercises and how that helps her calm down. Furthermore, she emphasise the medicines. The boyfriend is required to give her medicines, which may be nearby.
What’s really helping Kelsey in such kind of attacks is showing her love and support. She notes that kind words do help. Reminding her that these kinds of attacks had happened in the past and she overcame them really helps her calm down.
Kelsey does not forget the feelings as well. She explains her boyfriend that these attacks make her embarrassed, particularly because these attacks makes him uncomfortable. Having such a feeling of guilt makes the attack even worse.
She reaches the end of the list by telling him that after sever hours everything will be normal again. When things settle down, they should discuss about the attack. These discussions provide an opportunity to change something, an act or a word, when the new one strikes again.
People’s response to Kelsey’s account was huge. More than 10,00 retweets have been noted and people left hundreds of comments.
If you’re somewhere inside then go outside and try stabilizing your breathing. Fresh air will always help.
Focus on something, preferably a bright color and continue to focus your breathing.
talking quiet and trying to keep space between me and strangers is really helpful. having a playlist with calming music is helpful for me so having quick access is really good but idk if that helps for you
Usually after the worst is through I have some songs / tv shows / etc. that help me feel better and more like a person in my body. Also quiet and a lot of space from people (not complete isolation) physically when it happens. Definitely no touching for me, grounding words help!
My anxiety attacks can be quite dissociative (with seizure like effects), a big thing I've found helpful is to firmly massage localized areas (like my shoulders). I concentrate on the pressure, its grounding without having to think & not too overstimulating. Your bf can do it too
Yep! – it's also the aftermath of an attack affecting you for hours afterwards, causing confusion, dissociation, fragility, fatigue, poor concentration, etc. It's an intense experience that can take a lot out of you and leave you feeling off, even hours after it passes.
no probs! i mean, attacks range in intensity depending on the person and the situation… some attacks certainly might pass after a short amount of time and not every attack needs hours of processing afterwards, but it does happen✌️
Different people react differently to panic attack. However, what’s common to all of them is the help they need. Support and kind words may improve their condition. Whenever you deal with a person with anxiety disorder, talk to him/ her – it means a lot to them.
Some people defy their age and look absolutely stunning even in their 70s and 80s. And as many believe this is due to good genes, others say how the way we live defines the way we look. It’s a fact that stress and unsettling life experiences have a negative impact on person’s physical appearance. From deep wrinkles, to untreated skin, many people lose the will to take care of themselves and end up looking way older than they really are.
This was the case with the 76-year-old woman named Phoebe. Her life was full of challenges as she found herself moving places after she spent forty-nine years of her life living in Vermont. Coping with this drastic change wasn’t easy as she started feeling devastated and depressed. That didn’t only affect her looks, but her health too. And as soon as she started feeling a bit better, she experienced the greatest loss of her life; her son passed away.
After the ordeal this woman had to go through, she felt like she needed a change and decided it should start from the way she looked. And who can make a woman feel beautiful again if not the amazingly talented Christopher Hopkins. The Makeover Guy isn’t just an expert in hairstyles and make-up, but a true artist when it comes to helping boost people’s self-esteem.
Phoebe’s white hair got a different color and her new hairstyle and make -up shed a couple of years off her now fresher looking face. Her dark clothes were replaced with ones of vivid colors. The happiness is evident, as Phoebe herself admits feeling rejuvenated. This positive change affecting her appearance also affected the way she sees life. Positivity became part of her every day and she learns how to enjoy the present.
“I’m feeling pretty good at the moment. I’m living day by day really and coping with a new way of life.”
What Christopher is able to do for all these women who are in desperate need of change, among which Phoebe, is incredible. He managed to influence her to change her perception on life in general.
Take a look at the video below and see the Makeover Guy’s hands doing magic right in front of your eyes.
Let us introduce you with Avett Ray. He is a cute six-year old boy that has one passion in his life – music. His interest for music is not a rarity. Many people love music, play musical instruments and sing with various different qualities. However, Avett is a special case. This little musician is legally blind.
Just imagine his life. This little boy is not able to see the faces of his loved ones, cannot see the beauty of the life with all of its advantages and disadvantages. This condition stops people from enjoying the life as we do. Their activities and scope of interests are limited and they cannot freely express themselves.
However, Avett is a fighter. This talented boy decided that the loss of sight will not stop him to do the thing he likes the most. His desire to become a musician is just too great to give up. Avett’s determination not to drop everything out is so strong that this desire is slowly becoming reality. He started playing the piano and he does is marvellously.
Avett showed to all of us that the impossible can become quite possible. His intention of mastering the piano and producing some lovely tones paid off. The video that has been shared on-line features his excellent performance of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. His singing and playing the song are just wonderful.
This inspiring boy teaches us a lesson. We cannot give up the dreams we have. No matter what kind of difficulties we face up with, we can always try and overcome them. The results of these efforts are just too satisfying. Avett’s case is an excellent example. Playing musical instrument with no visual representation of the world around you is not an easy thing to do. It required talent, dedication and strong will.
Avett knows that becoming a musician will not be an easy task. He will always struggle with the disability but the talents he possesses may make this road easier. The passion for music is too great to give up now, especially since he mastered the piano quite well.
All of us should learn a lesson from Avett’s accomplishments. Giving up on something, even in perfect physical and mental state, is a terrible thing to do. We all know that the road to success required lots of work and effort, but the final goal is too good to be left unachieved.
Avett’s story is the positive inspiration we all need. The little boy with great spirit is the motivation we need to take some actions and make our dreams come true.
Take a look at Avett’s performance and enjoy the music.
Evil does exist. People with their violent actions and their cruel nature prove that it does exist. Child abuse is one of the worst forms of domestic violence and mistreat. Thomas Sullivan from Texas felt on his own skin the consequences of such treatment.
This 2-year old innocent and cute little boy ended up in hospital after his mother’s partner has almost broken his body by beating him up. This abuse left the kid in vegetative state, according to the doctors and his family. The Texas Children’s Hospital in September 2018 announced that he had severe head trauma, lacerated liver and several fractures and burns.
The boy’s pain is great. When admitted to the hospital, the close family members said that the boy can feel nothing but pain.
He is not the only abused child by this monster. His sister, Amery Sullivan, is also a victim of this abuser. She has suffered stomach, pelvis and ribs injuries. At the age of three she had to undergo a surgery to repair the damage done by Adam.
Furthermore, reports say that there are other victims of this abuser. It is said that he had been burning other innocent children. However, he was denying these charges by telling that the injuries were as a result of several accidents.
The abuser, Adam Thomas, did not think about the safety and well-being of the boy. As a direct consequence of this abuser’s actions, the boy may have permanent mental and physical disabilities. He ruined this boy’s life in the period when he just started understanding it.
His aunt, Sarah Sullivan, crushed with pain, said:
She said: “[Thomas] breathes on his own, and then he stops. He’s not doing well. He’s going to live, but they said we need to prepare for him to be in this state for the rest of his life.”
There’s a Devil Loose: Boyfriend of Texas Woman Gets 2 Life Sentences After Subjecting her Children to Physical Abuse that Left 2-Year-Old Boy in Vegetative State; Mother Sentenced to 20 Years https://t.co/M4FFILbnnwpic.twitter.com/NpPdNF20yr
Both Adam Thomas and the boy’s mother were found guilty of child abuse. In February Adam got two life sentences, while his partner got 20 years behind the bars. She admitted that she failed to protect and care for the kids.
Now, the family is fighting to the custody of the kids. They are in procedure of doing that at the Child Protective Services. They have even started a funding page for collecting the money they need.
This bad and extremely violent case is a terrible thing. In a normal state of mind no one will try to harm a child. Sending a child to the hospital and ruining his life requires a monster to do that. Unfortunately, monsters do live among us.
Share the story and raise people’s awareness of this kind of domestic violence. All of us can contribute in fighting these monstrous abusers.
Although traveling by plane is the fastest way to reach certain destination, there’s something about airports that bugs people. Whether it’s the long queues, the tiring security checks, or a flight delay, spending long hours waiting to board can be nerve-wracking. And once you are in, the chances of sitting next to a crying baby, or someone pushy are relatively high.
But, there are times when the flight can turn into an experience to remember. These passengers traveling from Brisbane to Sydney got the biggest surprise as they found themselves sharing the plane with the Australian cast from “The Lion King” who were getting home after spending an amazing day at Brisbane season launch announcement. As the cast started singing “Circle of Life,” by joining into the song one by one, the confused passengers were wondering what was going on. But they soon realized it was the best flash mob they’ve ever seen or heard and simply enjoyed the vivid performance.
The video has been seen close to 45 million times, and people agree how watching it left them jamming out. This is definitely worth checking out.
Once again Colin Mochrie and his wife showed that they love and support their daughter Kinley no matter what. She celebrated her birthday with the closest friends and family members. Colin used his Facebook page to post the family photo and send her a lovely message.
Alongside the photo he wrote:
“Happy Birthday to my lovely daughter! 28 years old and everything we’ve ever hoped for in a child.”
Many people reacted positively to this post, but there were some very hostile comments as well.
Kinley is gransgender woman and people react differently to this. Nevertheless, what’s most important to Kinley is that her parents give her full support. They love her unconditionally, therefore, haters were not left unanswered:
“Thanks to the fans of this page for being supportive and human. To the trolls, my thoughts and prayers to your body for losing it’s mind and soul so tragically.”
Many people wrote kind words. Comments with expression of admiration and support were abundant. One of the comments says:
“Thank you for supporting your lovely daughter and the trans community. I work with homeless trans youth and the main reason they are homeless is related to family rejection. We need more parents who understand and love their children without condition. Thank you for being that kind of parent.”
Another person wrote:
“I’m a trans woman, and today is the first day my mom called me her daughter. Thank you for being supportive of your daughter! Supportive parents make all of the difference.”
On several occasions Colin has publicly spoken about his daughter and their relationship with her. The actor told The National:
“We’ve started saying yes — within limits — and it’s taken us to these amazing places and amazing people, so I do think improv actually did help with this.”
He also adds:
“You accept what someone has given you and you build on that.”
Colin proved many times that he indeed supports the trans community. He even reflects his own personal experience in order to defend the community. He once wrote:
“My 90-yr-old mother-in-law and 87-yr-old mother love and acceptance of our trans daughter warms me. Wonder why some who are younger can’t. The negative is that my mom refers to the community as BLT. It’s a learning curve.”
Kin’s story
Kinley or Kin, as her family and friends call her, was born as Luke Mochrie. His coming out happened in 2016, but as she says, she never worried whether her parents will accept her. She knew they will. On ET Canada she explained:
“It was fairly straight forward. There were challenges that came with it… I know there was some difficulties around getting used to the name change.”
She also tells the story about choosing the new name:
“I said to my parents, ‘I would like to know what names you like and what names you would give me now,’ and they came back to me the next day with a list of 20 names. Slowly, we whittled it down to about five and then slowly got to… I don’t know, there was just something about Kinley.”
Colin and his wife accepted her immediately. Regarding that, he adds:
“This is my child, this is the exact same person, with a new coat. All you want when you have a child is for them to be safe, to be happy, and to be better than you.”
Kin has publicly spoken about her sexuality as well. She identifies herself as a bisexual non-binary trans woman.
She is following her father’s steps. She studied screen-writing at the New York Film Academy. Nowadays she is working on a project for Second City Theatre in Toronto. Haters do not stop her living the life she always wanted to have.
Bullying is a serious problem that affects many students. Actually, the statistics are staggering. Those children who are victims of bullying are likely to suffer from poor school performance, anxiety, and depression. The problem is so perennial that the consequences of being bullied last years after it takes place.
Many educational institutions fail in detecting this issue which results in a great number of students facing days of horror while at school. In cases like this, the parents are usually the ones who struggle to get their kids out of reach of the bullies.
Azzy Robinson is a 15-year-old student who didn’t have an easy start at school as he suffered being mocked and treated badly by his schoolmates. His mother, Tracy couldn’t see her son suffer any longer so she took things in her own hands and transferred her son to a brand new-school. Both she and Azzy hoped things would be different this time and he’d be able to make friends. And as it turned out, that was the best thing this mother could do.
Azzy’s classmates from his new school, LaVergne High, were happy to welcome him as they realized he was one of the kindest and friendliest people they’ve ever met. They couldn’t believe how the kids from his former school could be so cruel to him. However, that was now in the past and Azzy’s biology classmates, along with their teacher wanted him to know that.
These loving kids decided to prepare a huge surprise for Azzy so that he knew they are his true friends he can always count on.
When they handed him the red box, he felt overwhelmed, appreciated, and loved.
“We got you some stuff because of how generous you are and everything you do,” one student tells him.
As he opened it, Azzy bursted in tears of joy.
This video restores our faith in the young generations. After all, things are never as bad as they seem, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Modern technology is definitely part of almost all our daily activities. Whether you do your leisure activities, doing homework assignments or conducting a scientific research, digital technology is inseparable component. This made us dependent on sophisticated gadgets and devices. We don’t talk about adults only, but about children as well.
This dependence on digital technology affected even minor things, like telling the time for instance. This problem is explained by Malcolm Trobe, deputy general secretary at the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL). According to him and ASCL, students have difficulties using analogue clocks since they are accustomed to using the digital clocks instead. This is particularly true for students under 18.
This problem, made schools considering to remove the analogue clocks from the classrooms and installing digital clocks instead. Regarding this, Trobe says:
“The current generation aren’t as good at reading the traditional clock face as older generations.”
He adds:
“They are used to seeing a digital representation of time on their phone, on their computer. Nearly everything they’ve got is digital so youngsters are just exposed to time being given digitally everywhere.”
Trobe justifies this switch from analogue to digital clocks because of the stress factor. Since students can tell the time more easily using the digital clock, they know, for instance, how much time is reserved for a test. This decreases the stress level of the students.
He elaborates:
“You don’t want them to put their hand up to ask how much time is left. Schools will inevitably be doing their best to make young children feel as relaxed as the can be. There is actually a big advantage in using digital clocks in exam rooms because it is much less easy to mistake a time on a digital clock when you are working against time.”
Similar opinion has Stephanie Keenan, head of English at Ruislip High School in north-west London. Keenan told The Telegraph that her school is also planning to remove the analogue clocks. On her side is Cheryl Quin, a head of department at Cockermouth School and chair of the West Cumbria Network.
Teaching to read clocks is part of the school curriculum. However, it appears that students do not understand this quite well. Trobe explains:
“It may be a little sad if youngsters coming through aren’t able to tell the time on clock faces.”
He also adds:
“One hopes that we will be teaching youngsters to read clocks, however we can see the benefit of digital clocks in exam rooms.”
Sally Payne, the head paediatric occupational therapist at the Heart of England foundation NHS Trust, goes even further. According to her, students have problems with proper holding of writing tools as well. She points out that all these things are as a direct result of the overdepandence on technology. She explains:
“To be able to grip a pencil and move it, you need strong control of the fine muscles in your fingers. Children need lots of opportunity to develop those skills.”
“It’s easier to give a child an iPad than encouraging them to do muscle-building play such as building blocks, cutting and sticking, or pulling toys and ropes. Because of this, they’re not developing the underlying foundation skills they need to grip and hold a pencil.”
Finding “the one” is probably one of the hardest things in life, as not everyone is lucky enough to get involved in a relationship with their perfect match. Many times, what we think is an ideal relationship turns into a disastrous one and we find ourselves on the dating scene again. So, how do we know if someone is our soulmate and worth spending the journey called life together?
I guess that first of all, we should be aware of the qualities that we secretly wish our perfect date to possess in order for something more serious to take place. One of those is the way the person kisses. According to Bright Side one can learn a lot about their partner after sharing just one single kiss.
8. Is there chemistry between you and your partner?
I am confident how you’ve heard the term ‘chemistry’ being used to describe what two people have together. So what does this word really stand for? The truth is that the chemistry felt between two people can’t be put into words. The moment the partners’ lips touch, it can’t be felt in the stomach whether that’s IT.
If there are no sparks or the feeling of butterflies flying in your stomach, that’s probably not going to change, as if there’s chemistry, you feel it from the start.
7. Will your partner be good in bed?
You may now wonder what the connection between the first kiss and how good your potential partner would be in bed have in common. The answer is A LOT. While kissing, you should pay attention how they move their hands and what part of your body they prefer to caress. It’s believed that most of the technique used during the first kiss is also applied in the bedroom. So if you don’t feel overwhelmed by your partner’s kissing, you should reconsider your decision about sleeping with them.
6. Is your partner confident enough?
When you are choosing a partner, you probably want to be with someone who’s confident in themselves. Well, that first kiss speaks a lot of whether that other person knows what they are doing or are completely clueless of how to treat you and how to approach you.
The kissing should come natural. If it’s forced, that’s not really a good sign. You should also pay attention of how the other person reacts to your kiss. How they lean towards you, how they keep their head, or whether they put their arms around your waist or your neck is also something worth taking into consideration.
What comes after the kiss is also important. It’s believed that if the person is willing to show emotions after that fist kiss happens, they would probably be that open later in the relationship as well.
5. Does your partner take care of themselves?
If the partner wants to make a good first impression, he or she should mind their hygiene and show up wearing a perfume, being showered, and having fresh breath. You definitely wouldn’t want some stinky guy or girl kissing you, right? Because if they don’t care about the way they look while dating you, it means your opinion of them isn’t something they really care about. And honestly, that’s not a good start of a relationship.
If their teeth aren’t brushed the first time they kiss you, don’t expect from them to brush them later on. They are probably not taking good care of their personal hygiene.
4. Is your partner a good listener?
While kissing, we send dozens of micro-signals and that way alert the other person whether they should push or pull back with what they are doing. If you are not a kind of person who enjoys being kissed using tongue let’s say, and you tell that to the person kissing you, they shouldn’t insist, but adjust to your rhythm.
If the partner is able to understand and accept all those tiny signs your body sends to them, they might be the right person for you. This way you know you are dealing with someone who respects your wishes. When kissing someone for the first time, make sure you pay attention whether they are able to follow your lead or not.
3. How serious will your relationship be?
Just because someone kisses you, that doesn’t necessarily means they would start a relationship with you. He or she may simply find you attractive, but that’s it. If you want to figure out whether they see you as a long-term relationship material or not, you should see how they kiss you. Do they take their time, or are in a rush?
Your feelings are equally important, of course. You may also not be certain whether that person might be your soulmate or not, and kissing them is just one way of imagining whether you can spend your lifetime with them or not. After that kiss, your intentions would probably be more clear.
2. Does your partner rush things?
Being patient and doing things one step at a time could be a sing that your date or what was supposed to be just a flirt could turn into something more serious. On the other hand, if the partner is rushing things out, such as touching you all over your body, sliding up their hands under your shirt, or grabbing your ass, they just want to sleep with you and see you as a one night stand.
The right person would never force you to do something you are not comfortable with and would enjoy every moment of the time they have with you.
1. Is your partner appreciative?
So, you kissed for the first time, and now what? The reaction of your partner after the first kiss reveals a lot about their feelings for you. Are they happy and smiling because they got to kiss you? If the answer is yes, than it means they like you and enjoyed putting their lips on yours.
Do you think the first kiss is really that important? What was yours like? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
It’s unbelievable how some people treat their kids. There are many cases where kids are facing up with the consequences of domestic violence and the harsh heartless parents’ behaviour. Instead of being taken care of and grow up with parents’ love and support, many kids are targets of beating, misbehaviour and abuse. The physical and mental health of these kids are under threat by thoughtless and violent parents.
Linda Benskey, grandmother of the five-year old Angel, is aware of all of these possibilities. Her fears about her step-granddaughter appeared after a period of several months of not being able to see her step-granddaughter. Angel lived in North Carolina with Linda’s stepson. Linda’s worries made her call the police and asked them to check on the girl. This led her to shocking discovery.
Linda got the attention of the police. The officers, upon hearing this, immediately started the procedure. Their first contact was Tracy Harrell, the lady that took care of Angel during a local daycare. She agreed to aid the police in finding out what’s going on with Angel.
The police officers and Tracy were stunned and shocked when they discovered Angel. She was locked under the stairs, beaten, burned and bruised. The girl was in a horrible situation.
Regarding this, Tracy said:
“Her little hands were shaky. Her hair was shaved, but what wasn’t shaved was pulled out in knots, so she had bald spots all over her head. Her face was dirty and cut up. She had bruises around her neck.”
Angel couldn’t remember how long she had been locked under the stairs. This little beauty was ruined, starved and abused. The monsters, Angel’s father Adam Byrd and his girlfriend Crystal Carnahan, were arrested and charged with child abuse. They lost the custody of the girl and the family is trying to receive it. They will do anything just to normalize Angel’s life.
Tracy was dear to Angel. She loved her and trusted her more than anyone else in the world. Tracy recalls:
“THERE WAS NEVER A DAY WHEN SHE LEFT, AND SHE WOULDN’T SAY, ‘I LOVE YOU MISS TRACY,’”HARRELL RECALLED FROM HER TIME AS HER CAREGIVER.
She also adds:
“She clung to me and wrapped her arms around me. I had her laying here and she kept saying ‘please don’t leave me, please don’t leave me.’”
Thanks to Linda, the police and Tracy, Angel’s life is saved. She may feel the emotional consequences of the abuse in the future, but at least the abusers are behind bars and stopped from doing harm to anyone else again.
Weddings – time for celebration, party, lots of guests and family reunion. Weddings require lots of preparations, including the perfect clothing, interesting decorations and inviting family and friends. Many couples do not mind having a lot of guests, including children. However, some couples want only adult guests, which means no children invited.
Lucy B, a mother of a five-month old baby, experienced this kind of wedding and she got quite frustrated by it. This British lady booked tickets and spent some $5,000 to travel to her cousin’s wedding in Australia, only to find out that her baby was not welcomed to the party.
Lucy’s frustration is even greater since she planned this trip and booked the flights for the family a year in advance. Now, all her costs are for nothing.
Lucy B is the lady’s nickname on Netmums. Lucy used this website to post her story and tell the other members what kind of situation she found herself in. She explained that she was informed by the cousin a year in advance that the wedding will be in Australia. As soon as she found out the date of the wedding, she booked the tickets and paid $5,312.
However, three weeks before the wedding itself her cousin told her that only Lucy and her husband are invited. There was no invitation for the kids. What was even more frustrating for her, there was no one to babysit her baby.
She says:
“I researched online but couldn’t find anyone (they live in the suburbs). Everyone I knew in Australia, was attending the wedding. Am I being unreasonable to think it’s a joke they can’t make an exception for a breastfeed baby flying from England?”
Many who learnt about her experience justified her frustration and stress.
There are people who think that ‘that’ rule should not be emphasised at the last moment and they had to accept the baby at the wedding.
Exceptions exist and they had to make some exceptions for this wedding as well, especially having in mind the long distance this family had to travel.
This story shows how some people are making decisions without proper thinking. The couple that was getting married should have thought in advance all the details in order to avoid situation like this. Since it’s their fault, they had to make an exception about Lucy, particularly since this family travelled thousands of miles just to attend this wedding.
This is a good lesson for all future wives and husbands. The big day should be the day of happiness and joy, not just for the main people, but for all who attend such an event. Having situations like this may transform the day into something very non-desirable.
It’s practically impossible for one not to get emotional when the powerful voice of the great Andrea Bocelli fills the air. He’s one of the best tenors in the history of music who never ceases to amaze the crowds while performing his greatest hits like the Italian songs “La Voce Del Silenzio”, “Dare to Live (Vivere)” and “Fall on Me” with son, Matteo.
His fellow friend Celine Dion with whom he performed our all time favorite “The Prayer” has said that “if God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli,” and honestly, we can’t agree more. Those who had that unique chance to see Andrea performing live describe the experience as divine. This time, this chart-topping singer has treated the audience with the music of the best musical of all time: The Phantom of the Opera, and he sounds as amazing as ever.
At the age of 12, Bocelli completely lost his ability to see as a result of an accident at a soccer match. However, this never stood on his way to success. He knew his talent had to be shared with the whole world and worked hard to be seen and given the recognition he deserved, thus got on the list of the best singers of all time. He learned how to play the piano and other instruments and let music lead his way to the stars.
People first heard of Bocelli after Luciano Pavarotti himself invited him to be part of the “Miserere.” Ever since, his music career went upwards and he’s still one of the best in the industry. He has received numerous awards throughout the years, as well as a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The performance you are about to see is just a further proof that Bocelli’s vocal is hard to beat. Or better said, impossible. He performed the song “The Music of the Night” by Andrew Lloyd Webber and enchanted the audience.
The connection Bocelli makes with each piece of music he performs is felt by everyone who gets to listen to him.
Most families have their own ‘comedian’, or a kid that is responsible for making everyone laugh. These talented kids, with their jokes, pranks or stories, try to provide a good time to all family members. Everyone enjoys with these jokes and everyone likes having a good time in order to forget the everyday problems, at least for a moment.
The general opinion is that this role of jokester is usually attributed to the older kids. People believe that the older kids know more jokes and know how to make everyone laugh. The other kids are the learners and act like an audience. However, the recent research published by YouGov shows something very different.
YouGov published a research that indicates people might be wrong. These unexpected results of the research show that actually the youngest kid in the family is in most cases the funniest one. The research explains that this is due to the fact that the older kids are engaged in more serious every day activities. This means that the older kids have some other matters to work on, while the youngest kids have more time to engage themselves in telling jokes or funny stories.
The research adds:
“Splitting out the first and last born siblings in British families with more than one child (86 per cent of the population), a clear divide in personality traits emerges.”
These claims are supported by the participants’ answers as well. The results show that some 54% of the older children think that they are more responsible than the younger ones. This creates space to the younger kids to show off and entertain the family.
What’s the situation in your family? Is the youngest kid the funniest?
Police officers are those people who put their life on the line every single day just to make sure everyone else is safe and sound. Many believe how their job is not as significant as that of the members of the military when it comes to people’s safety, forgetting along the way how the police would be the first to assist if we find ourselves in trouble.
In fact, these people never know what sort of situation they would have to deal with while on the job. KVIA reported the case of Deputy Peter Herrera who was patrolling on March 22 in San Elizario, Texas. At around 1:50 a.m. he pulled a vehicle over and asked for the drivers license and registration, but instead, he got a few shots and was left lying in the street all covered in blood.
Luckily, another driver named Xavier Lira witnessed the incident and rushed to assist the wounded cop. He called 911 and didn’t leave Deputy Peter Herrera’s side until help arrived.
Lira told KTSM how he believed he found himself at the scene that day for a reason, and that was to help the officer in need. He also states how looking at all that blood, he was almost certain the officer wouldn’t make it. The sight was chilling.
Lira adds, “He did ask me to go ahead and take off his shirt because he felt like everything was on top of him.”
“When I took off his shirt he still had the bulletproof vest on and everything. So I was like OK you know for sure he’s OK but being that I had seen all the blood in his face and legs and everything that kind of worried me.”
Herrera was shot in the head and his condition is still critical, but according to KVIA the bullet didn’t reach his brain and doctors are hoping and expecting for him to survive.
Sheriff Richard Wiles confirmed that Deputy Herrera was shot multiple times, but he didn’t have the time to return fire.
“We have video cam from both the car and the officer’s body which are very revealing as to the circumstances and this shooting,” he continued. “Those cameras are very helpful in law enforcement in proving cases and that camera is going to be a solid piece of evidence.”
The person who shot Deputy Herrera was later tracked down and identified as the 27-year-old Facundo Chavez. He faces charges for criminal attempted murder capital murder of a peace officer and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
“Yet another attack on LE while simply serving the community,” the Peace Officers Research Association of California posted. “Today Deputy Peter Herrera with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office – EPCSO was needlessly shot multiple times during a traffic stop. Deputy Herrera at this time is in critical condition. A fundraiser account has been set up on Facebook.”
“Prayers needed for Deputy Peter Herrera an El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy who was shot overnight and is in critical condition,” the Sheriff Deputies Facebook page shared. “The Deputy made a traffic stop for a minor violation and the occupants of the car immediately opened fire, striking the Deputy numerous times. The suspect were arrested a short time later. Please send your thoughts and prayers for the recovery of this hero.”
We pray for Deputy Herrera and hope he recovers soon.
