12-year-old Boy Held His Dying Twin Brother in His Arms All the Way to Hospital

The Northwest Indiana shooting that took place earlier this month left a 12-year-old boy dead.

Demetrius Townsel Jr. was shot while he and his twin brother Darius were at the backseat of the car when someone opened fire at them at around 9:30 p.m.

Darius tried saving his brother’s life by putting pressure on the gunshot wound while on the way to the Methodist Hospital, two miles away from where the shooting took place. Sadly, Demetrius didn’t make it.

The boy’s mother, Catherine Brown is heartbroken and pleas the public to come forward with any information that would help lead to the killer.

“I can’t hold my baby anymore. Please turn yourself in,” she said in tears.

The whole family is mourning the loss of the boy whom his brother describes as the funniest person he knows.

Demetrius’ stepfather, Lenearl Lightfoot said, “It’s unfortunate that something like this would happen to a 12-year-old child.”

“I was a victim of gun violence myself. The first time I got shot I was 12 years old. Makes me more determined to find out who did this to him.”

GoFundMe / Demetrius Jr.’s Funeral

Police are still investigating and are hoping to track the killer down. They are offering $2,000 reward to anyone who will help them identify the gunman who took an innocent life. If you have any information please contact 1-800-U-TELL-US (1-800-883-5587).

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with the funeral expenses.

The whole community is still in shock by this tragic incident and are praying for the late boy’s family to have strength to endure the pain of the loss.

Rest in peace Demetrius, you are dearly missed.
