Ex-teacher goes off on parents who ‘coddle and enable’ their rude and disrespectful children

0

When it comes to teaching, many people say how teachers have it easy only because they get to spend a couple of months off during the summer. But no one really speaks of the fact that they are underpaid and that their job is really demanding. After all, they help shape the students into the adults they become and do their best to prepare them for the world that awaits them after they graduate.

So whenever you have difficulties making your child behave, just imagine how teachers have around 20 and even more kids in their classroom that they have to put up with every single day.

Julie Marburger, a sixth-grade teacher at Cedar Creek Intermediate School in Texas had it enough from all the kids who weren’t taught proper behavior by their parents and made her lessons a real hell. She’s now sharing what she experienced during those two years she spent teaching and says how she considers quitting the school and being a teacher in general.

In a post she shared on Facebook and vent viral, she wrote, “Parents have become far too disrespectful, and their children are even worse. One parent today thought it was wrong of me to hold her son accountable for his behavior and decided to very rudely tell me so, in front of her son.”

Marburger shared photos of some of the things the misbehaving students do on a daily basis. They don’t respect neither the school’s, nor their teachers’ belongings. The photos showed torn books, destroyed electronics, and even a chewing gum stuck on a window sill.

“Keep in mind that many of the items damaged or destroyed by my students are my personal possessions or I purchased myself, because I have NO classroom budget,” she wrote. “I have finally had enough of the disregard for personal and school property and am drawing a line in the sand on a myriad of behaviors that I am through tolerating.”

She also said that neither her students nor their parents care for all the missed assignment.

She ended her post with a message she wants the parents to hear.

“People absolutely HAVE to stop coddling and enabling their children,” she stated. “It’s not fair to society, and more importantly, is not fair to the children to teach them this is okay. It will not serve them towards a successful and happy life.”

“Any passion for this work I once had has been wrung completely out of me. Maybe I can be the voice of reason. THIS HAS TO STOP!”

Marburger has later deleted the post and the photos, but it was already seen by more than 350,000 people who took their time to share it and comment on it. Most of them said how she had all the right to be mad and frustrated because children really are crazily spoiled by their moms and dads.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think parents should be more strict?

Teen is about to start his performance on stage when Simon Cowell tells him to take a look at the crowd and see who is there to cheer for him

0

Britain’s Got Talent is the show we always go back to when we are in the mood of having some fun time. Fierce competition, people with incredible inner talent for music, dancing, performing, and more, and touching life stories are just some of the things this show brings.

Over the years, we witnessed many stars being born on the stage of BGT.

Out of all the judges, Simon Cowell is considered the strictest. His comments are often brutally honest and that is the reason not everyone is fond of him. The truth is that he’s a real softie who has helped many people succeed.

One of the episodes of Britain’s Got Talent featured a young man named Reuben Gray. He was eager to take the stage and show the world how talented he was. When he introduced himself, he explained that his mom and his girlfriend were there to support him. However, when Simon asked him who he thought his biggest fan was, Reuben answered it was his dad who couldn’t be there that night because he was way too busy working.

In the next moment, Simon asked the contestant to find his mom in the audience, and that’s when Reuben’s father stood up and waived to his son. Needless to say, Reuben couldn’t believe his eyes. He was overjoyed to see his dad among the crowd.

“No, I had no idea, it totally shocked me,” Reuben later said in an interview.

It was a very touching moment. The video of it has been seen more than 22 million times. You can see it below.

Ship docks at a deserted island and a skeletal dog starts running towards it

0

David Foster was a passenger on the boat that cruised along the Amazon River. He expected to see nice things while on board, but what he got to spot on the deserted island where the boat docked left him in complete shock.

There was a dog running towards him that resembled a skeleton. He just couldn’t believe his eyes as there was no way for a dog to be able to end up there, unless it was left on purpose, probably to die.

Play For Strays

He didn’t hesitate even a bit before taking the poor creature on the boat. The animal was quiet and friendly and ate some of the food David had to offer.

Play For Strays

This kind man was determined to get the dog home with him despite some of the passenger didn’t like it on the boat.

At one moment, David could hear the engines and that’s when he realized that Negrita ran away. He pleaded the boat owner to help him get her back, and he agreed. Luckily, he found her waiting at the shore.

As they continued their trip and got to on the main cites of the river, David got out looking for someone who could take care of the dog for a while. Luckily, he stumbled upon a woman who could speak English and asked her whether she could keep the dog until he gets back to take her with him. After hearing the incredible rescue story, the woman said yes, and David now had to find a way to return and get Negrita to her new home.

Play For Strays

It took David five months to arrange a trip to where he left his dog. But once with him, Negrita was completely transformed and didn’t resemble the starved animal any longer.

Negrita is now happy and gets to spend her days surrounded by people who love her to the moon and back. She definitely loves Northern Ireland way more than that secluded place.

Thanks to people like David, this world is a better place for our furry palls.

Mom has perfect response to text about daughter’s boyfriend

0

That racism is still present is a sad, but undeniable fact. But whether or not it will continue growing or will hopefully vanish over time is something that depends on all of us.

One mom from Houston, Mississippi, named Heather Boyer is showing us how we should all deal with rude racist people who are sticking their nose in other peoples’ business.

Kennedy, Boyer’s daughter, shared a cute photo of her and her boyfriend on Facebook. But then her mom got an upsetting message from one of her friends.

She said, “Today my daughter changed her profile picture. After maybe 5 minutes I get a text… ‘I didn’t know she was dating a black boy, did you?’”

Boyer realized how the people around her somehow expected that she had a problem with her daughter’s choice only because they were of different race.

Luckily, this mom won’t ever judge anyone by the color of their skin. What she wanted was for her girl to be loved and appreciated by the man by her side, no matter if he was black or white.

Boyer just couldn’t stop thinking about the message she received and she was outraged knowing there are still individuals out there who would judge an interracial relationship.

She could just choose not to answer back and ignore the rude question, but instead, she decided to speak up and teach those ignorant people a lesson. She did respond, but she did it publicly so that everyone knew how she felt about her daughter’s boyfriend.

“Yes in fact I did know, but the color of his skin doesn’t define who he is. What does define who is he is how he treats my daughter. I see my daughter dating a boy that comes to my house and shows me nothing but respect (a big deal in my book).”

She believed someone should really tell people what is in a relationship that matters, so she continued saying,

“I see my daughter dating a boy who takes her to church with him. Every Sunday. He plays in the band, she sits with his family. How many young men these days make church a priority? None of the others have. He doesn’t hit her, cuss her, lie to her, or make her cry. Would I rather her date a white boy that did, to keep from her dating another race? Absolutely not.”

More than 1.3 million people have reacted on Boyer’s post. There were thousands of comments too, most of which praised this woman for what she had to write.

She added how true love is hard to find these days and her daughter is lucky to be with someone who treats her the way she deserves, like a queen.

“And I know people have their own opinion, but at the end of the day, the fact that my daughter has someone that loves her and treats her like a queen makes me happy. That’s something I’ve never had in my life and I’m glad she does.”

Everyone agreed how Boyle nailed it at parenting. She’s kind and supportive and won’t let anyone attack her daughter for being in love.

We guess that the person who dared to sent Boyle the text in the first place is now ashamed of themselves. And yes, this is also a lesson for anyone who would ever think of asking such rude and racist questions.

Man rescues puppy stuck in the mud but finds it’s no puppy at all

0

Animal rescue stories are my favorite because they remind me that people still care for all those creatures in need of help.

A 67-year-old bird watcher and a huge animal lover named Ian Ellis was outside in the nature trying to spot some new and unique birds, but instead, he spotted a strange animal resembling a tiny puppy stuck in the mud. A herd of cows surrounded the poor creature and Ellis knew he had to step in and take the animal out.

Source: On Demand News/YouTube

Rescuing the animal wasn’t easy, of course, because he was supposed to get close to all those cows that were staring at the helpless creature.

However, as he knew the time was running out, Ellis approached the animal. To his surprise, it wasn’t a puppy, but an abandoned baby seal.

Ellis, who didn’t know what to do next, called Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary and asked for help. They advised him to rush the baby seal to the sanctuary hospital. Once there, the little one received a medical treatment because she wasn’t feeling well and was dehydrated and lethargic.

Source: On Demand News/YouTube

Although no one knew for sure how the sweet animal, now named Celebration, ended up into the mud, they believed she was taken to the ground by a tide and got stuck once the water went back in.

Celebration got to be surrounded by a bunch of other seals and once she was completely healed and gained weight, she was taken back into the wild.

Bindi Irwin poses alongside photo of Steve Irwin for daughter’s 1st birthday

0

It’s been almost 16 years since one of the greatest conservationists in the world, Steve Irwin, passed away. His love for the different animals was enormous. He introduced many species to the wide public and always spoke of the natural world with much affection. What’s most, he passed on that love to his children who followed into their dad’s footsteps and are keeping his legacy alive.

Last year, Steve’s daughter, Bindi, welcomed baby daughter Grace Warrior into her life. Since the very first months of her life, Grace got to be around different animals. As mom Bindi shared photos of those first encounters, people were happy that the girl has been taught to love animals from such young age.

Recently, Grace turned 1 year old and the family organized a birthday celebration. One thing that caught the attention of many was the photo of late Steve Irwin the family posed next to.

“Happy Birthday to my graceful warrior,” Bindi wrote on Instagram. “One year of watching your beautiful heart bloom into the most extraordinary person. Grace, you have been an old soul from the very beginning. It is the greatest blessing to be your mama. I love you eternally, unconditionally and infinitely.”

Grandma Terry shared her joy of being a grandmother to Grace. “Today is Grace Warrior’s first birthday,” Steve’s widow wrote. “I am amazed every day when I see her determination, curiosity, and depth of love. There is a wise old soul behind her eyes, and I am very privileged to be her grandmother.”

We are sure grandpa Steve is looking down on Grace from heaven and is proud of her and of the people his children have become.

Happy birthday, Grace Warrior. We wish you all the happiness and joy in the world.

Remember Grace Jones? Better sit down before you see her today, at 73

0

Always ahead of her time, actress, model, musician, and above all a style icon who stirred the world of fashion numerous times throughout the years, Grace Jones remains until this day someone we all admire. Being 73 doesn’t prevent this unique woman from living her life to the fullest, something many envy her for.

Born in Jamaica and raised in upstate New York, Jones has never failed at stunning the world, whether it’s been because of her music, her fearlessness, or her decision to shave her head and brows at one point of her life wanting to “look more abstract, less tied to a specific race or sex or tribe,” as per her own words shared with Vogue.

Jones’ family was extremely religious and she was expected to live following strict rules, something her rebellious spirit didn’t allow her.

“I hated my dad; he was so strict. But now I love him because they didn’t make him bishop for a long time because of me,” she once shared with The Guardian.

“There was an article in Ebony magazine about me with a photograph of the family around the piano. My dad wasn’t in it, but the fact that it was released in a magazine… he was supposed to cut me off, like in the Bible it says, ‘If your right arm offends, you cut it off.’ He said, ‘I don’t care; I support my daughter.’ But it held him back.’”

Being influenced by her mother, Jones showed passion for fashion and was great at designing her own clothes from very early age.

“I got a lot of my style from my mom, to be honest. We were all sewing, making designer clothes when we were teenagers,” she told Interview Magazine.

“And I was crocheting since I could pick up a crochet needle. My mom was a really good seamstress, so she used to make all these designer things.

“We never bought clothes off the rack. Everything was original. I believe that influenced me a lot. We had to pick out our own buttons, threads, our own fabrics. There are a lot of details in making your own stuff.”

Never afraid to show her body and her sexual power, Jones turned to modeling. She didn’t see it as her career initially and only did it in order to make money for her rent, but her unique appearance attracted the attention of numerous modeling agencies, so soon enough, she found herself sharing an apartment with two other models in the capital of the fashion world, Paris.

She was the life of the parties at the famous Studio 54 and turned to music after model Pat Cleveland heard her singing and told her she was extremely talented.

“I’d say, ‘Grace, you need to sing, honey,’” Cleveland told Marie Claire. “She’d say, ‘Well, if you sing with me,’ So I started singing with her. But then, when she finally got a producer and invited me into the studio to sing, I had to say, “No, Grace, this is your thing.’”

“You don’t get to stay famous for long unless you’re always switching,” Andy Warhol was said to have written in his diary. “Grace Jones is an example of this.”

Ron Galella Collection via Getty Images

Speaking of Warhol, he and Jones were very close friends.

“Andy was very quiet. He talked softly. I’d never ever hear him raise his voice or anything like that. I think he liked watching me. He was more of an observer, and he felt comfortable with me. I don’t know why, but he did feel really comfortable together with me,” Jones told Interview Magazine.

“He would just give me advice, things like, I’d say I don’t like signing autographs, and sometimes we’d be out, and people would come for an autograph, and I’d just be like, ‘No, I don’t really wanna sign an autograph,’ and he’d just say, ‘Oh Grace, it’ll make them happy, you make them feel good when you do it.’ So I said, ‘Why am I doing that?’ It didn’t make sense to me. This was Andy helping me realize that it’s better to do it than not to do it.”

In 1977, Grace signed a record contract with British label Island and that was the start of her long and successful music career she would always turn to again and again. In 1984, Jones was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Video Album for her long-form music video collection, A One Man Show.

One incident which made her the center of attention back in the day was Jones’ appearance on Russell Harty’s talk show. The script was pre-planed and rehearsed beforehand, but the audience changed the atmosphere once they went live and the show ended up with Jones slapping Harty multiple times. Apparently, she was ignored and that made her feel uncomfortable and that was the reason for the scandalous outcome.

Although she made a name for herself as an established musician, Jones eventually turned to acting and landed the role of Zula in Conan the Barbarian.

One thing led to another, and after a number of successful films, Jones got the role of May Day in the James Bond movie A View to a Kill, in which she starred alongside legendary Bond actor Roger Moore.

One thing she was known for was that she never performed unless she was paid beforehand. One time, she was supposed to perform at a show organized by LG Electronics, but as they failed to provide her with the money, she stood them up. That story is one of the most scandalous ones.

“I am ready for action. The champagne is flowing, the oysters slipping down nicely. Again, though, no money, and it is a Saturday. They are begging me. ‘We will have the money on Monday.’ No, I am not moving until I’m paid. I won’t even leave the hotel and go to the venue because there is too much pressure once you arrive,” Jones wrote in her autobiography, I’ll Never Write My Memoirs.

“We say, ‘Well, give us all your jewelry and watches, your Rolexes, as a deposit. We’ll keep them in the safe until I get paid.’ They do not want to do that. They get increasingly desperate. Finally, after a couple of hours with me not budging and everyone trying to come up with a solution, they called with an idea for a deposit for the weekend until they could get the cash on Monday.

“They say, ‘We have an employee who has a baby she is prepared to offer as security. We have a baby! You can keep the baby until we bring you the money.’ The baby is the most outrageous story of them all. I didn’t take the baby. They couldn’t get the money. I didn’t do the show.”

Not surprisingly, the now 73-year-old actress, performer, and model, looks as stunning as always. She says she wants to be remembered as someone who made people happy.

This icon is reported to have a net worth of around $7 million.

World’s longest surviving conjoined twins, Ronnie and Donnie, die at 68

0

A year ago, Ronnie and Donnie Galyon, the oldest conjoined twins died at 68.

When their parents learned they were expecting twins, they were over the moon. Little did they know, however, that their boys were not ordinary. When they were welcomed into the world on October 28, 1951, Ronnie and Donnie’s mom and dad were shocked to see their babies were conjoined.

Unfortunately, a surgery to separate them was way too risky, and the parents decided against it. Shortly after, their mom decided she didn’t want to take care of them and the two brothers were raised by their father, Wesly, and their stepmom, Marry.

Following their 63rd birthday, in 2014, Ronnie and Donnie were awarded the title oldest living conjoined twins by the Guinness World Record. With that, their dream came true, as they always wanted their names to be written in that book. “It’s what me and Donnie’s always dreamed about, and we hope to get the ring, because we’ve dreamed about getting this since we were kids,” Ronnie said in an interview back in 2014.

Unfortunately, the Galyon brothers died on July 4, 2020.

They never attended school and were the sole breadwinners in the family. They made their living performing at carnivals throughout the country. The brothers retired back in 1991 and lived together with their brother Jim after kind-hearted members of the community raised money and helped construct an addition to Jim’s house for them.

“They’ll live the rest of their days here comfortably,” Jim told Dayton Daily News in 2010, and explained how his brothers lived in a tiny apartment in the city before they moved in with him. “They’re definitely happier. They’re definitely more at peace.”

Ronnie and Donnie lived their lives to the fullest. They didn’t have any regrets and were happy with their brother and the little circle of friends they made throughout the years.

“We had fun when we were growing up,” Ronnie said, as per the Daily Mail. “We’ve had a nice life,” Donnie was reported to had added.

Rest in peace.

Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli share sweet exchange during Oscars ceremony: ‘I got you’

0

Two huge stars in their own right, Lady Gaga and Liza Minnelli, capped off last night’s Oscars ceremony when they presented the Oscar for Best Picture. When they took the stage, they received standing ovations. Then, Lady gaga turned to Minnelli, took her hand and said “Do you see that? The public, they love you.”

The presence of Minnelli, who is 76 and wheelchair-bound, brought joy to many and elicited an outpouring on social media, with many people saying that her being on stage represents “a powerful moment of inclusivity.”

Lady Gaga acknowledged Minnelli by announcing that the actress was celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cabaret, for which she won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1972.

Holding the cue cads in her hands, Minnelli stumbled with her words, but Lady Gaga got closer to her and said “I got you,” to what Minnelli replied, “I know, thank you.”

This exchange melted millions of hearts. Many said it was the highlight of the night, and we can’t agree more.

Following the announcement for the nominees, Minnelli turned to Lady Gaga, and told her she was happy to be there as she was her biggest fan.

Former publicist of Liza Minnelli, Scott Gorenstein, revealed that “Lady Gaga requested that Liza present the award with her.”

Before attending the Oscars, Lady Gaga was partying at Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 30th Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party for which she wore a dazzling pastel gown and red lipstick.

Couple adopts 3 biological brothers under 4 so they can grow up together

0

In life, not everyone is lucky enough to be part of a family that will teach them what love and security are. Many kids are part of dysfunctional surroundings and never get to experience parental love.

Three brothers Joey, 3, Logan, 2, and Noah, 1, found themselves looking for a forever home. The chances were that they would end up in three different families and that would mean they wouldn’t be given the chance to grow up by each other’s side.

However, things turned for the best for these young boys and they were all adopted by the same family. Their story is an example that miracles do happen, and theirs took place just before Christmas.

KC and Lena Currie of Sudbury, Massachusetts, adopted Joey around a year ago after they met him at an event sponsored by Children’s Friend.

“We saw a picture of Joey and Children’s Friend mentioned [it] would be a good match,” Lena explained. “He was 18 months old at the time.”

Joey was a loving little boy who settled in with his new family just perfectly. Although they didn’t really consider adopting another child, the Curries got a call from Children’s Friend and were told how Joey had a little brother who was six weeks old. Sweet Noah needed a home, and both KC and Lena knew his place was right beside his brother’s. Soon after, Noah was legally adopted and part of the family.

Some time later, the family learned of the third brother, Logan. They were told how he was supposed to be adopted, but something turned wrong and he was again looking for a family.

Was it a sign that they should adopt him, too? Well, the Curries believed exactly that and now the siblings were together, under one roof.

“It was our gut feeling,” KC told GMA. “We were going to end up saying yes because keeping the brothers together was really important to us. When they’re older and have questions, they’ll have each other to lean on and experience that ride together.”

Looking after three kids under the age of 4 isn’t easy, but KC and Lena are more than willing to do all in their power to be the perfect parents to their boys.

“It’s the first year and first holiday where it’s all permanent and true,” Lena said.

“Now we can start dreaming about grade school, sports, and all those fun things,” added KC.

This story is both touching and inspiring and exactly what we needed to hear during the most wonderful time of the year.

College student is kidnapped by men in parking lot, then remembers 1 life-saving tip mom taught her

0

One 20-year-old University of South Carolina student is sharing her incredible story of how she escaped from kidnappers thanks to advice her mom once gave her.

It all happened as the young woman, Jordan, was going to her student apartment building after finishing work as around 1 a.m.

As she approached the place, three men suddenly approached her and took her possessions. To make things even worse and way scarier, they pointed a gun at her.

As they tried stealing her car, they realized they couldn’t operate it because it was a stick shift, and that’s when the real hell happened. Two of the men forcefully put Jordan in the car and forced her to drive them to the gas station. The third man ran away.

The men, who were later identified as teenagers, told Jordan to withdraw money from the ATM machine. They also told her they were going to violate her. That’s when the brave woman decided to take action inspired by a story her mom once told her.

Speaking to WCBD News2, Jordan, who’s a criminal justice major said:

“I thought back to my mom. She was almost a victim of assault when she was in college, and she fought back and fought the man off, and I thought you know, I’m going to be strong like my mom, I’m going to get myself out of this.”

Facebook

Jordan’s mother, Beth Turner, always taught her daughter to be brave. She wisely advised her to be strong and fight back if she ever found herself in a similar situation.

According to ABC News 4, Jordan said:

“My mom always told me, you know, don’t let them get you alone, because then you have no help, you have no hope for passerby’s to see you or hear you, and you have no help to get out.”

After withdrawing the money from the ATM, Jordan started planning her escape. Once she entered the car again, she didn’t put the seat belt on, so she jumped out of the moving vehicle.

“I just kind of thought in my head, ‘Do it, do it, do it,’ and then the next thing I know, my hands were on the handle, I was opening the door and I was staring at the pavement,” Jordan explained.

Youtube

As soon as she jumped out of the car, Jordan tried signaling moving cars to stop and help her. Two drivers passed by without stopping, but the third was kind enough to pull over.

According to ABC News 4, the college student told reporters:

“They were in a moving vehicle, without a driver, and a 20-year-old girl just outsmarted you. I wish I could’ve seen their faces at that moment, so that they knew that I might have been a victim, but I was not victimized.”

After the incident, the two teens got arrested. They were well known to the police as they had been involved with a number of other crimes at the area.

High school seniors spent 1,500 hours making braille yearbook for visually impaired classmate

0

Leslie Thompson, a study hall teacher at Confier High School in Colorado couldn’t get the words her student RJ Sampson said to her out of her head. RJ is visually impaired and he never got to read the yearbook.

So when he asked her “When are you going to make me a braille yearbook?” she knew she had to do her best in order for this wish of his to become a reality.

RJ wanted his own yearbook from the time he was only a  freshman, and now as a senior, he was finally going to get it thanks to his teacher and his classmates who loves him very much.

All the students loved the idea of helping make RJ’s dream come true. Everyone got engaged in the process of making the braille yearbook. RJ, of course, had no idea what the school’s staff and the students were up to.

However, this wasn’t an easy task to do. Leslie, the vision team, and the yearbook committee spent more than 1,500 hours making it. But they didn’t mind that. The only thing they cared for was RJ’s smile when he gets to hold it in his hands.

Take a look at the video below to see the heartwarming moment the surprise is revealed in front of the students gathered at the school hall. This is truly amazing and shows how loving the people from this education facility really are.

Garth Brooks decided to quit music to raise his daughters after divorcing his first wife

0

Although he always believed he would pursue a career in sports, Garth Brooks ended up becoming one of the most famous country singers of all time thanks to his music talent.

It was during his years at the Oklahoma State University that Brooks became aware of his love for singing and performing. He and his friends experimented with music in their dorm rooms and soon after, Brooks decided to take his guitar to a local salon named Willie’s and ask if he could perform. Once on stage, with all those people listening to him playing and singing, Brooks knew music was his calling.

“One night turned into two nights, three nights, and pretty soon I was playing Monday through Friday all over town,” Brooks recalled to Colbert. “The great thing was, it wasn’t working … I could feed myself and somebody I loved doing something that isn’t a job!”

Next, he formed his band Santa Fe, which performed music covers.

“The greatest thing about clubs is there’s no one in between you and the people you’re playing for,” he told PBS.

“There is no “yes men” between you and them; it’s just honesty. They’re going to let you know. And they’re going to let you know right away. So you learn quick what works and what doesn’t.”

What felt like the right thing to do at the time was moving to Nashville, where Brooks believed he could make a career. But things didn’t turn as expected and he soon returned to Stillwater, a bit disappointed from the pace with which his career was moving.

Then, one night changed it all for Brooks. He took part in a writer’s round at the famous Bluebird Café. The person who was supposed to perform second didn’t show up and Brooks took the stage instead. He sang If Tomorrow Never Comes, not aware that among the crowd there was the Capitol Records label head Lynn Shults.

Shults was mesmerized by Brooks’ performance and told him to stop by his office the following day. On June 17, 1988, Capital Records signed Brooks for an advance of $10,000. The following year, he released his first single, Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old), which reached No. 8 in the charts.

At the time his career took off and he rose to stardom, Brooks was married to wife Sandy with whom he has three children. She was his greatest support and was always by his side, but eventually, Brooks’ many tours, promotions, and performances, which required from him to be away from home, were too much to handle for Sandy. The two filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2001.

“Sandy is kind of doing my job and her job with the girls. If Sandy is doing her job, she’s telling them, ‘Hey, your dad loves you to death. He’s just working, and he’ll be home soon.’ Well, I didn’t have anybody to do that anymore,” he said about the divorce, shortly after he announced he wanted to retire from music in order to be able to spend more time with his daughters.

The divorce of Brooks and Sandy became a much-talked-about topic, especially because of the hefty settlement worth $125 million, which she received.

The former partners maintained a co-parenting schedule for 14 years. Despite the divorce, their daughters were seeing both parents every morning and every evening. “That’s how we ran it because we knew it was right for those kids. If you did what was right for the kids, you were going to do what was right for you. It was simple,” Brooks said.

In 2005, Brooks married his second wife, Trisha Yearwood, a very famous singer on her own right. Speaking to US Weekley, Brooks said that Trisha became an active participant in raising his daughters. He, Sandy, and Trisha often attend the girls’ many sporting events together.

“I will say, I’d never wished divorce on anybody, but [for us,] three children and three parents worked really well, especially since the three girls were all tomboys. So they were all at soccer, track and field, softball, and never ever did one of those kids take the field where at least one parent wasn’t in the stands,” Brooks told US Magazine.

Children of Hollywood child star and movie icon Shirley Temple reveal details about the mother they cherished

0

Few child actors have ever reached the fame of incredible Shirley Temple who was considered the cutest and most talented young actress during the 1930’s. She starred in a number of movies, including Curly Top and Heidi, which brought her plenty of awards, among which a special Juvenile Academy Award for her outstanding contribution as a juvenile performer in motion pictures during 1934.

What’s most, Shirley capitalized on licensed merchandise, such as dolls, dishes, and clothing, that featured her wholesome image.

In the midst of her popularity, Shirley retired from acting at the age of just 22. Some years later, however, she returned to acting, making guest appearances on television shows in the early 1960s.

Besides her acting career, Shirley was also a very successful business woman who sat on the boards of corporations and organizations, including The Walt Disney Company, Del Monte Foods, and the National Wildlife Federation.

At the same time, this versatile woman was a diplomat as well, serving as the United States ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia and becoming the first female Chief of Protocol.

Shirley led quite a life. She was married twice and had three children. Sadly, she passed away in 2014 at the age of 85 due to a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

From her first marriage to husband John Agar, Shirley welcomed daughter Linda Susan Agar. While married to her second husband, Charles Alden Black, Shirley gave birth to son Charles Alden Black Jr. and daughter Lori Black.

Lori was the child who gave Shirley much trouble. Namely, Lori was a musician who played bass for the bands “Clown Alley” and the “Melvins.” During the 80’s, she got involved with drugs and struggled to overcome the addiction. During that time, her mother was always by her side.

On what was supposed to be Shirley’s 90th birthday, her children gathered together to pay tribute to their mother. Her son Charles shared what it was like growing up with a famous mother. “The only time I noticed her star quality was when someone else would ask for her autograph. She was an amazing person. She was wonderful — and normal. We had dinner at the table every night all together.”

Her daughter, Linda added: “She was devoted and generous, and she could be a little stern if we didn’t behave. But she was also a lot of fun. Very inventive and imaginative. She was all about her children and her husband.

“We had a lot of fun decorating the dining room. Being a wife and mom is the greatest of her achievements. We were shopping and travel buddies. We went many places together. She was one of my very best friends…”

11-year-old girl buys a dated camper for $400 and turns it into the cutest tiny home

0

The ongoing pandemic changed the way we live and socialize with one another. Sadly, it affected young children as well. In the past, typical 11-year-old kids would spend their days hanging out, playing games, and engaging in a number of extracurricular activities. These days, they tend to spend their time at home, making sure they stay safe and sound.

Lauren Nelson, 11, decided to spend her days doing something incredibly inspiring. She, as many young girls her age, wanted the newest toy camper of American Girl which cost $650. When she asked her dad to buy it for her, he said, “That’s ridiculous, you could buy your own camper for that price.”

And that’s how the idea for a real camper was born.

Lauren had some money on her own, and she was determined to spend it on a vehicle that she would later turn into a home.

Speaking to NY Post, her mom, Aimee, explained, “Lauren really does have an envelope where she saves money. And it’s just a little bit here and there from things, like $5 at Easter or Tooth Fairy money. It just added up.”

The great thing was that Lauren didn’t need to look far as one of their neighbors was selling his camper for $500. The thing was that Lauren only had $400 so she negotiated and managed to get the camper for the suitable price.

“He said $500 and I said $400 because that was the money I had in my bank account and he said sold,” the girl explained.

Once she got the camper, she needed to save more money in order to renovate it. At the end, she ended up spending additional $400 for the furnishings and accessories for her boho-styled hideout.

She used the HGTV show Tiny House Hunters and Pinterest for inspiration.

The final result is mesmerizing to say the least. Lauren’s camper has everything a cozy home needs, and that’s a nice living space, a four-bed bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. It also has a number of cool decorations such as plants, decorative pillows, and a bunch of cupboards.

Lauren is a creative young lady. However, it wouldn’t be possible for her project to turn into reality if it wasn’t for her parents who let their daughter stretch her creative wings.

4-year-old alerts police that he and six other children are left alone inside a hot vehicle

0

With the temperatures getting higher and higher, we should all have in mind the consequences of leaving young children and pets locked inside hot vehicles. Many adults believe that their children being left alone inside the car for a short period of time would do them no harm, but the reality is that it sometimes takes a moment for a tragedy to take place.

Back in 2019, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office got a call from a 4-year-old boy who told them that he and six other children were all alone inside a hot car. They boy said that they all had troubles breathing and were sweating. His voice was trembling and the officers could tell he was terrified and fearing for his life.

Unfortunately, he was way too young to be able to tell where they were parked. The officers, however, managed to track the call down and arrived at the parking lot of the shopping center in Waldorf, Maryland just in time. The boy’s mother came some 10 minutes later and claimed that she was only gone for 20 minutes.

Two of the children, who were all aged 2 to 4, were her kids, and she was babysitting the rest. She was later charged with confinement of children inside a motor vehicle.

Luckily, no one was hurt. But this story should serve as an example that no child or pet should ever be left unattended inside a hot vehicle.

According to Injury Facts, the number of children who die of vehicular heatstroke is 38 per year on average.

This is how much ‘Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison is worth

0

People seem to be more and more into reality shows nowadays than ever before. Why we love these shows so much is that they show real people doing real things. One of the shows that is on air for over a decade and is as popular today as it was back in the day is Pawn Stars.

It started with Richard Harrison, known as The Old Man, and his sons running their Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the years, they purchased, sold, and evaluated a huge number of artifacts with incredible background stories.

Sadly, The Old Man passed away in 2018, at the age of 77, and his son Rick Harrison took charge of the famous shop which resembles a history museum and brings a lot of cash.

After Richard’s death, Rick paid a tribute to his father with a touching message.

“He will be tremendously missed by our family, the team at Gold & Silver Pawn and his many fans the world over,” Rick wrote on Instagram. “He was my hero and I was fortunate to get a very cool ‘Old Man’ as my dad. That I got to share him with so many others and they got to see what a great family man he was is something I am grateful to have experienced with him.

“I think about him every day. I had a different relationship with him,” Rick said.

“Most people, when they turn 18, they go off to school, get a job and move out. I worked with my father from the time I was a kid. He stayed in the Navy for years because of me. Otherwise, it would have been really difficult with my medical expenses. But despite my epilepsy, he never treated me differently.”

In fact, in order to be able to work alongside his father, Rick dropped out of high school and learned how the business was done. Speaking of his childhood, he says he started buying and selling stuff from young age, and soon after, he expanded from dealing with coins and gold, to vintage cars, firearms and a huge number of different antiques.

Speaking to Review Journal, rick recalled how his dad found the idea of doing a show the craziest, stupidest thing he’d ever heard.” The great thing is that he later changed his mind and that’s how Pawn Stars was born.

“I remember telling him, ‘Dad, you’ve got to come in Saturday for the sizzle reel.’ And he looks at me and says, ‘Rick, you’re never getting a bleeping TV show. It’s just not going to happen.’ I begged him to come in that Saturday. But we had to have him. He was the grumpy old man that everyone loves,” Rick said.

“At first, I just thought a season or two would be good for business,” he added. “It’s really bizarre. I’m just a fat pawn broker, and now I’m known all over the world.”

Instagram/RickHarrison

Today, Rick runs the shop with his son Corey and his friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell. The pandemic affected the income and Rick confessed that before it, the shop made $4,000 a day and now it went down to less than $400.

Over the years, Rick managed to accumulate a net worth of around $9 million all thanks to his business, the reality show, and his restaurant.

He’s giving a significant amount of money to different charities and is on the board of the Epilepsy Foundation. Having epilepsy himself, Rick is hoping to raise awareness about the condition. Speaking to Fox, he said: “If you have a seizure, you’re going to know it,” he explained. “There are some people, you have, like they’ll have small seizures when they sleep and they don’t even know it. It’s a disease that I think just a lot more people need to know about or maybe need some more awareness about it, and hopefully I’m going to find a cure for it one day, well, not me, the Epilepsy Foundation, not me.”

Pawn Stars airs in over 100 countries, and people can’t have enough of Rick. “First off, most reality shows are pretty much scripted. Mine is not,” Rick said of his show. “And it’s truly different every week. You can have a show about motorcycles or cars, but there’s only the only so much you can do with a motorcycle or a car every week. And people want to learn, but they don’t want to feel like they’re sitting around with a professor. I give all the history lessons and I make learning entertaining on the show.”

He says he is a real celebrity and people not only from America but basically from all around the world recognize him. The show aired in France recently and although a great portion of it had to be filmed there, Rick says he doesn’t mind traveling around.

“Seventy-five percent of TV shows in France have to be made in France, so it was very difficult to be on there,” he told Review Journal. “They are watching the very beginning of the show right now, so I’m like a rock star there and before the lockdown 15 percent of my business was French.

“I went to Buenos Aires and was mobbed. Last season, when we were filming in Rome, everyone’s running up to me. In Kuala Lampur, they know who I am.”

We do hope you love watching Pawn Stars as much as we do. Keep up the great work, Rick.

Bikers escort the casket of a veteran whose body no one claimed

0

A lot has been said for the sacrifice the veterans made for this country, and no matter what we do for them, we can never thank them enough for keeping us safe.

Sadly, as time passes by and these brave people reach their old age, not many are around them. Although this should never be the case, it does happen and many elderly veterans are left on their own.

Nick Morales is a veteran himself. He and his fellow biker friends show appreciation for those who fought for this country whenever possible. In fact, they have started a project through which they honor the life of veterans who passed away and no one to claimed their bodies. This group’s motto is Vets helping Vets.

Youtube / FoxNews

Recently, they learned of the death of Mr. Robert Krause who served as a Marine in the 1950s. He was living all by himself, with no friends of relatives who could organize a decent funeral for him. That’s when Nick Morales and his crew stepped in.

”I’ve heard it said that a veteran dies twice: once on the battlefield and the second time when people stop saying his name,” Morales told Fox 13 News. ”If there’s anything we can do to prevent the latter, so be it.”

The kind volunteers escorted Mr. Krause’s casket from the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital to the Florida National Cemetery and that way they paid tribute to his service.

“We’re not going to let any vet go to their final resting place by themselves. We all have a common bond of service – our service, what we’ve done for our country. And regardless of what we’ve done after our service, we still have that bond,” Morales said.

We are very thankful for everything these bikers do for the fallen veterans. You are our heroes, may God bless you all.

Take a look at the touching story in the video below and don’t forget to share it with your friends because these people deserve all the praise in this world.

Elizabeth Taylor divorced her husband 15 years before passing away, but still left him money in her will

0

Dubbed one of the most beautiful actresses that have ever walked this Earth, Elizabeth Taylor was a true diva. Her unique appearance, her double row of lashes due to a condition known as distichiasis, and her incredible eyes which were purple-colored only added to her gorgeousness.

Her beauty, along with her raw talent, were a reason enough for her mother to “push” her into the world of film. Well, it wasn’t that young Elizabeth didn’t like to act, although she would confess later in life that she was sorry she missed having an ordinary chidhood.

She signed her first contract with Universal Studios when she was still very young, and at 10 years of age, she already had her debut in the film There’s One Born Every Minute. What followed were the films Lassie Come Home (1943) and The White Cliffs of Dover (1944). Her big breakthrough, however, came with the film National Velvet in which she played a tomboy. At that point, she already had her contract with MGM because apparently, she was fired by Universal Studios before that for reasons unknown. Some magazines reported that the casting director believed “her eyes were too old,” and that “she didn’t have the face of a child.”

Over the years, she appeared in a number of movies and received plenty of attention and awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Butterfield 8 (1961) and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1967), as well as the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, awarded to individuals for “outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes.”

Elizabeth’s private life was as exciting as her very successful career which spanned almost her entire life. Her eight marriages placed her name in a number of gossip and celebrity news headlines, but despite that, she never stopped looking for love.

The Cleopatra star was married eight times, twice to the same man, actor Richard Burton.

Youtube/Astrotema

Her first marriage, to hotel heir Nicky Hilton, didn’t last long because according to the actress herself, she was too young and probably expected a lot. He second husband, Michael Wilding, was twenty years her senior. They had two children together, Michael Jr., born in 1953, and Christopher, born in 1955.

Elizabeth married movie producer Mike Todd in 1957. The two welcomed daughter Lizz, but just a year later, he died in a plane crash. During the time of grieving, she got really close to her late husband’s best friend Eddie Fisher, who was married to actress Debbie Reynolds at the time. One thing led to another and the two decided to marry. Only after their divorce did Elizabeth and Debbie smoothed things between them.

One of her most controversial relationships was that with actor Richard Burton. They married twice and divorced that many times. They adopted a daughter from Germany named Maria together.

In 1967, Elizabeth married her seventh husband, John Warner, a Republican politician from Virginia.

Youtube/TheNewYorkTimes

Her last husband, Larry Fortensky, was 20 years younger than her. The two met at the Betty Ford Clinic in 1988. According to him, she was there for pills and he for beer.

Their relationship continued even after they left the clinic and tied the knot in 1991 in a ceremony held at Michael Jackson’s ranch Neverland. The wedding cost $1.6 million.

As their relationship was surrounded by plenty of rumors, Larry decided to speak up and reveal the truth. “Of course, she was very pretty, and I wasn’t too bad-looking in those days either. We had an instant physical attraction,” he said of the time they first met.

He spoke of her as of a very special person with a sense of humor and childish spirit. One of the most vibrant memories of her that he cherished was from their trip to Switzerland. “I chased her outside, and she fell in the snow and started waving her arms around giggling like a little girl. That is my favorite picture. I keep it by my bed,” he said. “That’s how I remember Elizabeth. She had a childishness about her. She was 20 years older than me, but I never felt she was old.”

Elizabeth was very passionate about their relationship and she would often shower him with expensive gifts. One time, she bought him a brand new Harley-Davidson motorbike, as well as a BMW for his birthday.

He, of course, couldn’t compete with her. “I knew I couldn’t compete with Elizabeth, so I didn’t try. When she gave me the bike, I gave her chocolate-covered roses. Another year I bought her a baby lop-eared bunny which she loved,” he said.

He added how she was used to being photographed all the time, but he had a hard time coping with paparazzi and cameras.

Even after their divorce, Elizabeth and Larry remained very close friends and that friendship was something they both nurtured until the end of her life.

When she passed away in 2011, from congestive heart failure, Elizabeth left Larry $500,000 in her will to “honor their friendship.”

The rest of her huge fortune was inherited by her children. As for her jewels and perfumes, they were auctioned off and the money went to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, a cause she kept close to her heart her entire life.

Barron Trump thought Donald Trump was “too tough” on Joe Biden during presidential debate

0

It’s been almost a year since the presidential elections in the U.S. took place, yet, media outlets are still covering different stories related to it.

Former President Donald Trump, who now lives in his family’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, said during many occasions he is planning on running for president again in 2024. A former White House aide, however, suggested that he might not even be able to run because of his health so we are yet to see how Trump’s story will unfold.

One thing about the elections is that the presidential race was sort of toxic. Both Trump and Biden said harsh words about one another and many believed they both crossed lines.

Their debates were heated, including the very first one moderated by Chris Wallace, during which Trump interrupted Biden multiple times; 128 to be exact, as reported by Slate. Biden on the other hand called Trump a “clown.”

Now, according to a new book, Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections, by Fox commentator and The Federalist senior editor Mollie Hemingway, Trump is still mad at Wallace.

Daily Mail obtained a section of the book and revealed Trump to have said, “The problem was Biden would speak and it was lie after lie, after lie. Everything he said was a lie, this guy, and then Chris Wallace wouldn’t let you respond. Chris Wallace was terrible.”

One person who believed Trump crossed the line during the debate and the presidential race was his son Barron Trump. Apparently, Donald confessed that his then 14-year-old son told him he was “too harsh” on Biden. Baron was even reported to have told his dad that he “caught wind” of some of the negative feedback.

“People thought I was too belligerent,” Trump said, according to the book. “I will say my own son Barron said, ‘Dad, you were too tough. You didn’t have to keep interrupting him.’”

Barron now attends the private school Oxbridge Academy and is part of the class of 2024. The spokesperson of the school said, “We look forward to welcoming him into our school and community,” as reported by People. On the school’s website it says that the institution is “committed to providing both merit scholarships and generous financial aid in an effort to attract the most qualified students and to make Oxbridge financially feasible.” They offer a number of classes, including teaching students kindness.

Melania Trump protects her son from scrutiny and the teen is rarely spotted out in public.

Recent photos of him and his parents show how tall Baron grew up to be. His dad, Donald Trump told New York Post jokingly, “Barron is 6-foot-7, can you believe it? And he’s 15. Eric (Trump) is short — he’s only 6-foot-6.”

Mailman tracks down little girl who sent her late dad a letter addressed to Heaven

0

The pain of not having your mom or dad in your life leaves a void in the heart. It is especially difficult to lose a parent at a very young age.

8-year-old Sianna from England lost her daddy when she was just four months old. It was a difficult time for her mother, Sarah Tully, who was left to raise her daughter all by herself. As time passed by, the little girl was eager to learn where her daddy was. She was looking at her friend’s fathers and couldn’t stop wondering why hers wasn’t around.

One day, her mom explained to her that she did have a daddy, but he was in heaven, looking down on her from above.

Sianna decided to send a letter to her father and addressed it to Cloud 9. She then put the letter in a postbox.

The following day a mailman named Simon was picking the post when the handwriting on Sianna’s letter attracted his attention. When he read the address, his heart broke in two. He just couldn’t stop thinking of the child who was desperately trying to reach her father. Aware that the letter could get lost in transit without a proper address on it, he went to his manager and asked for a permission to try and track down the child who wrote it.

“I’m a postman in the Braunstone area; earlier today I emptied the red pillar box…and there was a letter in a child’s handwriting addressed to their dad in Heaven, Cloud 9,” he wrote in the plea he posted on Facebook.

“I’m trying to find the parents of the child as I would like to reach out to them and with their permission sort out a little something for the child.

“I myself lost my dad last year and as an adult found it hard so I can only imagine what this child is going through. Please, if anyone has any details then it would be hugely appreciated.”

In no time, someone who knew Sarah told her about the post. She then contacted Simon and explained how her daughter believed her dad would get her letter. She was also touched by the number of responses on Simon’s plea. “I never thought this would happen. I’m in shock,” she told the BBC.

Sarah took the letter but said she won’t open it.

“I have no idea what is in it, I always say that’s between her and her dad.

“I told her it was too late to post it at first but she started crying, so I said ‘come on then’ and we walked to the post box down the street.”

Along with the letter, Simon also brought a gift to Sianna, a beautiful father-daughter figure Sarrah put picture of on Facebook with the following caption:  “The gift Simon the postman brought my daughter… this has been a very touching time for us …its been overwhelming thank u to u all x.”

Many took their time to praise this kind-hearted mailman’s act. He truly is an angel.

U.S. soldier amputates his own leg to save the lives of his buddies

0

During our lifetime we hear of people who do deeds so daring and noble that they don’t deserve anything less than to be hailed heroes. Army Spc. Ezra Maes is one of them. This young man’s bravery touched the hearts of many and what he did for his crewmates became a symbol of compassion and sacrifice.

It was back in 2018 when Maes served in Poland along with some of his friends. During an overnight training exercise, the tank in which he and his fellow mates stayed suddenly started rolling down the hill.

Maes was convinced it was part of the exercise or maybe some sort of prank and yelled to the driver to step on the brakes. But when the driver replied that it wasn’t him, Maes realized they were all in big trouble.

The tank was moving with 90 miles and hour and stopping it was impossible.

“We realized there was nothing else we could do and just held on,” Maes said about the accident.

After a number of sharp bumps, the tank crashed into an embankment. Maes flew across the machinery and his leg got caught in the turret gear.

Initially, he believed his leg was just broken and seeing his friends being severely injured with one breaking his back and another one bleeding profusely from a deep cut on her thigh, Maes started twisting and turning his leg desperately trying to release himself so he could offer them help. In the next moment, he was free, but he lost his leg.

He explained: “I pushed and pulled at my leg as hard as I could to get loose and felt a sharp tear. I thought I had dislodged my leg, but when I moved away, my leg was completely gone.”

Despite losing a lot of blood that was pouring from his leg heavily, this brave soldier managed to get to the medical kit and grab a tourniquet.

He couldn’t think of the pain or the leg he lost as the lives of the fellow soldiers rested on his shoulders.

“All I could think about was no one knows we’re down here,” he continued. “Either I step up or we all die.”

Luckily, one of the phones was still working and Maes was able to call for help that soon came to the place of the accident.

Maes was quickly rushed to the nearest hospital and later transferred to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.

“I feel super lucky,” he said. “My crew all does. So many things could have gone wrong. Besides my leg, we all walked away pretty much unscathed.”

Sgt. Maes is an exceptional person who sacrificed losing a part of his body for the sake of his fellow soldiers’ lives. He deserves the whole country’s deepest respect!

94-year-old grandmother tries on wedding dress 70 years after being forbidden

0

Dreams do come true, although sometimes it takes way too long for something like that to happen. When 94-year-old Martha Mae Ophelia Moon Tucker got married back in 1952, she didn’t wear a wedding gown because the racial segregation laws practiced at the time didn’t allow her to enter a bridal boutique.

Instead, with the help of the woman she worked for at the time, Martha was only able to buy a navy-blue dress that would later come to be known as a “Carmen Jones” dress. Saying “I do” to her now late husband Lehman Tucker Sr. was all that was important, but still, not being allowed to wear a wedding dress was something that stayed with Martha more than 70 years.

Last year, however, all thanks to her granddaughter Angela, that all changed and Martha was finally able to try a real wedding gown on.

Speaking to Insider, Angela said how she and her grandma were watching “Coming to America” when Martha leaned on Angela’s shoulder and said: “I’ve always wanted to try on a wedding dress. I didn’t have one when I married.”

Seeing the devastation in her dear grandma’s eyes, Angela decided to surprise her by taking her to a wedding-dress fitting at David’s Bridal boutique in Hoover Alabama. Martha had no idea her wish of many years would finally turn into a reality. Angela even hired a makeup artist who gave sweet Martha a beautiful makeover.

“She’s always made sacrifices to give from her heart,” Angela said. “So to return a gift from my heart to her was priceless.”

Martha said she couldn’t believe how far things got from the time she got married. Racism is slowly, but surely, becoming part of the past.

What’s most, she loves all the attention she’s getting. Angela even joked, saying of her granny: “Now she’s saying, ‘Do you think Oprah may call me?’ I said, ‘I don’t think so Grandma.’”

100-year-old woman celebrates milestone birthday with her older sisters who are 102 and 104

0

Frances Kompus turned 100 years old in November 2021. Many of the people who are important to her, such us her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were there to wish her a happy birthday. Well, although it’s rare for someone to reach this milestone, it’s not unusual. What is in fact unusual in this story is that among Frances’ guests were her two older sisters, Lucy Pochop, who is 102 years old, and Julia Korpiva, who is 104.

The three sisters were born in Kansas where they lived in a farm with their parents. The sisters’ father died at the age of 98, so it’s safe to say that longevity runs in the family.

Speaking of the possible reasons they all reached their milestone birthdays, the sisters say that the secret is in eating well. They remember the times when they were making their own bread and didn’t consume ready-made or bought food.

“We always had homemade bread, just plain potatoes, and gravy and meat. With those cookstoves, that was hard to bake. The temperature was hard to keep. Even if it didn’t come out good, we still ate it,” Julia said laughing. “I am thankful for us girls being together all the time, my parents and my faith,” she added.

They even have some useful advice for the young people and say that what kept them vital is regular exercise as well as faith.

“Walk a lot,” Frances said, before Julia added: “I think faith comes first – and thank your parents and grandparents.”

What is interesting about these sisters is that they all live independently. While Julia and Lucy’s apartments are right next to one another, Francis lives few blocks away, which means they get to spend quality time together.

Happy birthday, Francis, you are lucky to still have your sisters in your life.
