Matthew Perry’s longtime friend shares his last message just days before his death

Matthew Perry’s co-stars from the iconic TV show Friends on which he played the character of sarcastic but witty Chandler Bing released a joint statement following his sudden but tragic passing.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

“In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” they continued. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Perry’s life was a complicated one. While he was always there for those in need of help, especially those who struggled with addictions, he couldn’t help himself.

His battle with alcohol and drug abuse started prior to landing the role of Chandler Bing, and sadly, it continued until the end of his life.

Perry was never married, although he was once engaged and was involved in several relationships, including that with actress Julia Roberts.

“Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me,” Perry wrote in his memoir. “I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me — why would she not? I was not enough; I could never be enough; I was broken, bent, unlovable.”

“So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts,” he continued. “She might have considered herself slumming it with a TV guy, and TV guy was now breaking up with her. I can’t begin to describe the look of confusion on her face.”

Over the ten years Friends aired, there were plenty of celebrities who guest-starred on the show, including Brad Pitt, Danny DeVito, and Tom Selleck, but Julia Robert’s appearance was Perry’s favorite.

The Pretty Woman star was set to appear on the Superbowl special episode of Friends.

Liaison

But she had one demand: Being in Matthew’s character, Chandler Bing’s, storyline. However, there was one more thing she wanted from Matthew Perry.

“Matthew asked her to be on the show. She wrote back to him, ‘Write me a paper on quantum physics, and I’ll do it,’” Friends co-creator Kevin Bright told The Hollywood Reporter.

“But first, I had to woo her,” he wrote in his memoir. “Her reply was that if I adequately explained quantum physics to her, she’d agree to be on the show. Wow. First of all, I’m in an exchange with the woman for whom lipstick was invented, and now I have to hit the books.”

“The following day, I sent her a paper all about wave-particle duality and the uncertainty principle and entanglement, and only some of it was metaphorical. Not only did Julia agree to do the show, but she also sent me a gift: bagels — lots and lots of bagels. Sure, why not? It was Julia f—ing Roberts,” he continued.

The two started dating shortly after.

In 2020, he got engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz, and he seemed over the moon when he made the announcement public.

“I decided to get engaged,” he said at the time. “Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”

However, when he proposed to her, he was at an expensive Swiss rehab center, and later confessed he was under influence of drugs at the time, and he felt very lonely.

“I bought her a ring because I was desperate that she would leave me,” he wrote, without actually using Hurwitz’s name, I didn’t want to be this injured and alone during Covid. I was high on 1,800 milligrams of hydrocodone when I asked her to marry me, I had even asked for her family’s blessing.”

“Then I’d proposed, high as a kite. And on one knee. And she knew it, too, and she said yes,” Matthew Perry added.

When he returned to LA, he realized what he did. He didn’t even remember proposing.

“I was slowly beginning to realize that I was engaged, lived with a woman and two dogs. Needless to say, I was not ready for any of this. You live with me? We live together?” Perry wrote.

“We have kids’ names picked out, the whole nine yards, which is the name of a movie I once made? ‘You went down on one knee to propose, which really hurt your stomach, remember?’”

A year later, they called off the engagement.

Molly Hurwitz took to Instagram to honor her former fiancé after his passing, writing she will remember him as someone who had a “profound impact” on her life.

“He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was,” she began her post. “And he really was very talented.”

“But, I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too,” she continued, touching on their difficulties during their time together. “While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known. No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I have tremendous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship.”

“Matty, I feel relief that you are at peace,” Molly Hurwitz ended her post.

One of Perry’s close friends, Ione Skye, whom he debuted with in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, shared a screenshot of her last conversation with Perry.

“Hi! I hope all is well. I was meditating (I meditate now) and ‘In Your Eyes’ started playing. And I instantly thought of how beautiful you are,” Perry wrote in a text message sent to Skye on October 15, in which he referenced the song from her 1989 film Say Anything, according to People.

She replied, “Awe. I love that. Xo,” to which Perry answered, “Hope you are healthy and happy.”

Further, Ione Skye told Matthew it was “good to hear” from him, saying, “I only have nice memories with you.”

Perry said, “Me too. That one afternoon, I was just sitting in my apartment, and there you were!”

Rest in Peace, Matthew Perry.

Simon Cowell says this 21-year-old Irish plumber has the best voice he’s ever heard from a singer

Among the rest, Simon Cowell is known as one of the strictest judges on one of the most popular music shows, X Factor, and impressing him isn’t an easy thing to do.

When Brendan Murray took the stage in hopes of becoming a star, he didn’t know his performance would trigger such strong emotions at the judges, the audience, and the huge number of people watching the show from the comfort of their homes.

Before he let his voice loose, Brendan first turned to the rest of the contestants who had already taken their seats on the stage during the six chairs challenge.

He performed Everybody Hurts, a song written and recorded by the hit band R.E.M.

Once he started singing, the judges were stunned and completely taken aback by his vocal abilities while the rest of the contestants felt threatened because they were somehow aware some of them won’t be on that stage for long.

Following his stunningly beautiful performance, he received a standing ovation from the audience. He couldn’t believe the amount of support he received so he collapsed in a squat on the stage, looking as if he is was in tears of joy.

This was one of the very few times judge Simon was in awe by a contestant. He told Brendan that he belonged to a different category than the rest of the contestants and that was enough assurance that he would move on in the competition. Simon told Brendan that the most charming thing about him was that he wasn’t even aware how good he was.

While Brendan was overjoyed by the feedback he got, those listening to him were as excited to listen to him perform again.

Husband suddenly dies and leaves wife with 8 kids – his hidden disease was overlooked by everyone

James and Cloe Green fell for one another when they were teenagers. Once ready to start a family together, they tied the knot.

Both of them knew they wanted a large family, especially James, who was infatuated by the idea of being a father.

When she fell pregnant for the first time, Cloe was just 17 years old. That came as a surprise, but they were both excited.

Facebook/CloeGreen

The moment their first son, Leo, was welcomed into the world, they were thrilled. Two years later, they had another son, Oliver, and then a daughter, Meghan.

Their fourth child, Miley, was born with cerebral palsy and required extra special care, so James and Cloe decided they would have no more children and she was fitted with a contraception implant to prevent any future pregnancies. But God had other plans. Cloe somehow fell pregnant again.

Facebook/CloeGreen

“James said it was meant to be for us to have more babies,” Cloe said.

Soon after, babies Lacey and Lexi were born. Sadly, they both had cerebral palsey, just like their older sister.

Eventually, the couple became parents of eight children, and decided it was enough.

With that many children, Cloe was a stay-at-home mother and took care of the children, but James was also heavily involved with their upbringing. He worked from home and he was the one who took the children to and from school every day.

Facebook/CloeGreen

“He’d do the school run, then go to work at the café before picking the kids up,” Cloe said. “Then he’d sit and play games and read until bedtime. He had so much energy.”

Heartbreakingly, the family’s ideal life was shattered into a million pieces when James suddenly died.

Just twelve weeks after their youngest child was born, James woke up around 4:30 one morning and felt numb. He then stopped breathing suddenly.

Facebook/CloeGreen

Cloe performed CPR on her husband while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. “I wanted to scream and cry but knew I needed to keep calm,” Cloe said. James died in his bed, and he was just 31 years old.

His death was sudden, especially because he was a healthy young man, or at least that’s what everyone taught so.

Facebook/CloeGreen

In fact, James suffered from high blood pressure and had a condition known as hypertensive heart disease without being aware of it.

“In my darkest moments I wondered how on earth I would do this without James. But I looked at those eight little faces all depending on me and I knew I had to do this for them and for James,” Cloe said.

“He loved being a dad more than anything and has made me a strong enough parent to face this job alone,” she added.

The entire community gathered together and raised around $10,000 for the family which they used to renovate the family garden to give the children a nice place to play.

Rest in peace, James.

How to Remove Uric Acid Crystallization in Joints Fast (This Causes Gout AND Joint Pain)

Gout is a painful condition that can easily lead to joint damage and kidney problems. The reason for gout and the flare-ups it causes are the crystals that form when there is too much uric acid in the bloodstream.

Uric acid, a compound crystal, is usually filtered out by the kidneys and removed from the body through the urine. However, when the levels of it are high, the crystals can cause conditions like gout. This is why it is very important to try and lower the levels of uric acid.

Crystallized uric acid is created by the body when it processes foods that contain purines. Purines on the other hand are building blocks that the body needs to make DNA and RNA. They’re mainly found in meat and meat products. Purines are broken down into uric acid.

The crystals that are build up when the uric acid is high are stored in the spaces between the joints, causing pain.

The first thing to do if you suffer from gout is to reduce the consumption of foods that are rich in purines. Besides the meat, purines are found in shellfish, tuna, dairy products, as well as mushrooms and green peas.

Alcohol, including beer, also contain purine, so they should be avoided as well.

Foods that are low in purines are most fruits and vegetables, as well as nuts.

Uric acid is associated with protein but it can also spike with a high sugar diet, specifically fructose. Liquid sugar are absorbed faster so they cause even more trouble.

In order to reduce the levels of uric acid, besides what was mentioned so far, one should consume foods rich in fiber because fiber helps absorb the crystals, removing them from your joints and helping to eliminate them from your kidneys. You should also avoid saturated fats, like cheese, butter and margarine, and drink plenty of water.

According to research, coffee is also advised to consume as coffee drinkers are less likely to get gout.

Vitamin C reduces uric acid levels and reduces the risk of getting a gout. You can simply take it in a form of a pill or eat foods rich in vitamin C, like cherries, kiwi fruit, mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, watermelon, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green and red peppers, spinach, cabbage, turnip greens, sweet potatoes.

Getting a good night sleep and reducing the levels of stress reduce the risk of high uric acid. A 2015 study showed that adequate magnesium is associated with lower and healthier levels of uric acid.

Before you try treating this condition on your own, please make sure you are properly diagnosed and always ask your doctor for medical advise.

Tragic update reveals truth about Jennifer Anniston after Matthew Perry’s death

Matthew Perry had his big breakthrough with the role of Chandler Bing in Friends, but what he truly wanted was to be remembered as someone who was always there to help those in need, especially those who struggled with addictions just like he did almost his entire life.

Sadly, Perry lost his life in a tragic manner over the weekend. The investigation surrounding his passing is still ongoing as authorities have requested a toxicology report.

Perry and the rest of the cast of Friends were like a family, but he was closest to co-star Jennifer Aniston, who reached to him most often.

Aniston stood by his side through thick and thin and she was the one who stayed in close contact with him during his ups and downs.

A friend of hers told Daily Mail, “Nobody shed more tears for Matthew during the darkest points of his struggles with addiction than Jennifer.”

That the bond between Perry and Aniston was as close as that of the characters they portrayed was obvious from the 2021 reunion. Back then, it was uncertain whether Perry would take part in it due to his battle with his addictions, but Aniston insisted she wouldn’t want a reunion without him.

She was convinced he would eventually overcome his addictions, but just two years following the reunion, Perry died, and Aniston has utterly been heartbroken ever since. She has always aspired to be supportive and be there for Perry, but the truth is that she has always dreaded this day could come.

Perry and Aniston first met around three years before being cast for the roles of Chandler and Rachel. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which he published last year, Perry wrote how he attempted to date her, but she declined.

When they reunited again on the set of Friends, their friendship blossomed, and nothing romantic ever happened between them.

She was aware he was struggling and never left his side. She also made sure to never enable his addictions by inviting him to parties.

While promoting his memoir, Perry did an interview with Diane Sawyer and was asked about the cast of friends. He said of Aniston, ”She was the one that reached out the most. You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”

Aniston, as well as the rest of the cast, released a statement regarding Perry’s passing, calling him a family.

Rest in peace, Matthew Perry.

Matthew Perry’s teen neighbor reveals he ‘saw everything’ the night actor tragically died

Friends, family, and millions of fans from every corner of Earth are mourning the tragic passing of Matthew Perry.

The actor who played the role of Chandler Bing in the all-time favorite TV show Friends was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his LA home on October 28.

Reportedly, Perry drowned, but no official cause of death has been revealed. What is known is that no drugs of any kind were found at the scene and that no foul play is suspected.

Allegedly, the person who called 911 and asked for help was Perry’s personal assistant of seven year, a woman he referred to as Erin in his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.

He and Erin met at the rehab facility where she worked when he was getting help for his addictions. He asked her to quit her job and work for him and she agreed.

According to reports, she was running errands for the actor on the day he died and she was the one who found his lifeless body when she returned to his house.

Prior to his sudden passing, Perry, who was an avid player of pickleball, a mash-up of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. He played the sport every day, sometimes even twice, and on the day he died, he seemed unusually exhausted, his pickleball partner reported.

Perry’s pickleball coach, Matt Manasse, described the late actor as “caring, genuine and totally real.”

“Matthew was a caring, genuine, and totally real guy. He wanted to help everyone around him, and you were in a better mood when you saw him or he called you. Seeing him happy to play and compete on a pickleball court was incredible because he always made everyone else laugh—it was only right we returned the favour,” Manasse said.

“I’ll miss the stories he would tell about his life and career. You wouldn’t want to miss a word. He cared so deeply for his family and friends—sending prayers to everyone he touched so deeply. Matthew was real. Of course, he was insanely talented, but there was something special about him other than that. He cared about everyone in a way that you don’t see.”

Credit / Frederick M. Brown / Getty

One of Perry’s neighbors, a 17-year-old teenage boy, spoke to The Sun and said he saw the events following Perry’s passing unfold before his and his siblings’ eyes.

“It was very disturbing (…) I saw everything. I feel bad for my younger siblings. I was very sad. At the same time, I did kind of expect it in some sense, but I didn’t expect it to be so soon. He’d not lived there long,” he said, and added he saw the ambulance arrive and he then saw the police surrounding Perry’s house.

The teenager added that he once met Perry and that he was even friendlier than he seemed.

Perry will always be remembered as a genuine person who was always there for anyone in need of help. Sadly, the only person he couldn’t help was himself.

Details Emerge About Matthew Perry’s Former Assistant

On Saturday, October 28, 2023, actor Matthew Perry died in the hot tub at this Pacific Palisades home. Reportedly, a person described as his “assistant” found him in the hot tub. While it was first reported that he died from drowning, the police are still investigating his death and waiting for the toxicology report to come back to see what else may have played into the drowning.

Who is Perry’s assistant? In his memoir, published last year, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry referred to his assistant under the pseudonym Erin. He referred to her as his best friend and credited her for saving his life on multiple occasions.

According to Perry’s memoir, his relationship with his assistant was purely platonic, but they were very close. They met when Perry was in rehab, and Erin was working at the rehab facility. He asked her to leave that job to become his assistant, and she did.

In the memoir, he recounts the time when his colon exploded, and Erin rushed him to the hospital. He wrote, “Erin pulled the night shift for five months in that hospital.” She also quit smoking with him, and she lived in his Century City apartment for a time, where she and a nurse prevented Perry from accessing drugs from a drug dealer.

Who is Erin really? Her real name is Briana Brancato.

After the tragic and unexpected death of her friend and boss, she posted a tribute to him on social media, sharing several pictures and writing a touching sentiment. She shared, “I‘ve expressed my deepest gratitude to him on numerous occasions, not only for guiding me into a career I cherish but also for allowing me to take care of him for 7 years. Along w the countless other experiences I’m thankful for. From witnessing him in his genius to sharing in his worldly adventures living around the world, he took me on a remarkable journey.”

She continued, “My heart is heavy, but celebrating my memories is the most profound way to honor his legacy.”

Brancato finished her post by writing directly to Perry. She wrote, “I hope that up there, in the great beyond, Mattman is sending us signs. We truly need them. You’ll forever be in my heart. I love

What the youngster from ‘Life is Beautiful’ looks like 26 years later: He grew up to be a really gorgeous man

Life is Beautiful is one of those films that leave an impression so strong, that you never forget them. The balance of hysterical comedy and serious drama that makes you cry while laughing and triggers an emotional harmony makes this film an iconic one.

One of the characters that added to the films uniqueness and beauty is that of Giosuè, the four-year-old son of Roberto Benigni’s character, Guido. The character was played by actor Giorgio Cantarini, who later starred in yet another Oscar-winning movie, Gladiator, in which he played the role of Russell Crowe’s character’s son.

Life is Beautiful won Academy Awards for Benigni as Best Actor and, as the director, for Best Foreign Film. For his own part, Cantarini was rewarded for a captivating performance in the poignant story with a Young Artist award.

After landing roles in these two legendary films, Cantarini returned to school and decided he wanted to pursue a career as a football player, but his friends and teachers convinced him not to quit acting.

Cantarini was eventually accepted at the prestigious Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – the national film school – in Rome as one of just six boys and six girls to be admitted in 2012.

He played in a number of films and is still building his career.

What became of the girl whose lower face may have been restored by doctors?

Yaroslava Titorchukfrom Ukraine had a difficult childhood. Both her parents were addicts who lost their lives as a result of alcohol and substances abuse.

Sadly, Yaroslava was left an orphan and ended up in an orphanage. After some time, her grandmother took her in and cared for her. However, being an elderly lady, the grandma couldn’t provide the attention and supervision a teenager needed and Yaroslava ended up following into her parents’ footsteps.

She was getting into trouble often and stared smoking and using drugs and alcohol to help her with her struggles and her emotional suffering.

This lifestyle took its toll when young Yaroslava contracted an infection so serious that part of her lower jaw needed to be removed. Additionally, she needed an expensive dental prosthesis in order to be able to live without being afraid of her reflection, but she couldn’t afford it.

In an attempt to regain control over her life and turn a new leaf, she sought help from a reality TV show that offers help to people in need.

When she shared her life story with the public, donations started pouring in. Many people were touched by the young woman’s words and her will to start her life over. Luckily, she raised enough money to be able to afford the much-needed surgery that allowed doctors to rebuild her jaw through multiple procedures.

Eventually, Yaroslava broke her bad habits. She stopped drinking and got clean, and she even met the love of her life, married him, and welcomed a son.

Once she got the new looks, some people took to the social media to assault her, claiming she didn’t deserve the money she received from the public because drinking and using drugs was her personal choice. Others, however, were convinced that she didn’t choose her life, but she was forced into it because of everything that had happened to her over the years.

What’s most important is that Yaroslava is clean and sober now and she’s happy with how things turned out for her.

Unbreakable bond: Tim Allen and Tom Hanks’ enduring friendship

We have witnessed many on-screen relationships between actors and actresses turn into real-life love stories over the years. The truth is that the same goes about friendships which last a lifetime. One of those genuine friendships between two actors is the one between Tim Allen and his “Toy Story” co-star Tom Hanks.

Just the thought of these incredible A-list starts being best friends in real life make us go ‘aww.’

In a recent interview on the Kelly Clarkson show, Allen spoke of his friendship with Tom Hanks, or ‘Mr. Nice Guy,’ who has played many roles over the course of his career which are until this day considered iconic, like those in Forest Gump and Philadelphia, for which he won two consecutive Academy Awards for Best Actor.

“He and I differ on so many things. I adore that man’s heart and mind,” Allen said of Hanks.

The two have been seen together recently and many assumed that they are working on a movie together. “We’ve been going to lunch since Toy Story 1, two times a year, and we’re like two older women ’cause we will sit almost too close to each other at a booth,” Allen said. “It’s just weird.”

During the filming of Toy Story 1, Hanks took some fries from Allen’s plate and Allen’s reaction was priceless as he grew up in a home where one wouldn’t simply help themselves to food from other’s plates.

“And I don’t think I’ve ever trusted a human being as much as Tom to even listen to me and vice versa. We have very different opinions on so many things, but he’s gotten me to accept — he’s really a wonderful and engaging person. He’s the first guy to listen to me and doesn’t judge,” Allen said of Hanks, who played Woody to Allen’s Buzz Lightyear in one of the most loved children’s movies ever.

Both Allen and Hanks are incredible actors with very successful Hollywood careers and we are very glad they clicked and hang out together.

Matthew Perry’s secret relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow finally revealed after his death – confirms what we all suspected

When he landed the role of Chandler Bing, actor Matthew Perry, along with the rest of the cast, became a worldwide phenomenon.

Friends attracted the attention of millions of people from every corner of Earth, and even today, almost two decades since the last episode aired, it is still considered one of the best TV shows ever created.

Perry was born Matthew Langford Perry on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown, Massachusetts. His parents split while he was still a baby, but they later remarried.

As a child, he traveled a lot because his mother resided in Canada and his dad was living in California.

Vinnie Zuffante/Getty Images

He once recalled that he was forced to travel by plane on his own despite being just five years old.

“I was terrified,” he told People in 2022 of his flight from Montreal to Los Angeles. “My feet didn’t even touch the floor. And then when I saw the lights of the city, I knew we were landing, that my dad was going to pick me up, and I’d have a parent again.”

In his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry described himself as a “latchkey kid.”

Perry’s mom worked as a press secretary for Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, the father of now-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom Matthew went to school with, and she was quite busy most of the time. Perry believed that finding a way of making her laugh would make them closer.

“Mom and I were both abandoned, in fact, before we’d even gotten the chance to know each other,” Matthew Perry wrote in Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.

“I learned to be funny (pratfalls, quick one-liners, you know the drill) because I had to be,” he continued. “And me being funny tended to calm her down enough that she would cook some food, sit down at the dinner table with me, and hear me out, after I heard her out, of course.”

While still in high school, Perry got his first role in the sitcom Second Chance. The year after, he was cast in his first movie role, starring opposite River Pohenix in A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon.

Throughout his career, which spanned decades, Perry had starring roles in the 1997 romcom Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek, and in 2000 and 2004 he played alongside Bruce Willis in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel, The Whole Ten Yards.

He was part in a number of films and TV shows, but it was the role of sharp-tongued Chandler Bing in Friends that helped him rise to stardom. He played the role for ten years, from 1994 to 2004.

Youtube/Friends

Just before he got the role, Perry, who was broke at the time, prayed for his life to change for the better.

“Out of nowhere, I found myself getting to my knees, closing my eyes tightly, and praying. I had never done this before,” Matthew Perry wrote in his 2022 memoir. “God, you can do whatever you want to me. Just please make me famous.

“Three weeks later, I got cast in Friends. And God has certainly kept his side of the bargain — but the Almighty, being the Almighty, had not forgotten the first part of that prayer as well,” he said, referring to his health struggles and addiction.

Youtube/Friends

When the casting was done, Friends creator Marta Kauffman knew something big was on the way when she saw the six actors together.

“The first was our very first rehearsal when we had all six of them onstage for the first time, and they read the scene in the coffeehouse. I got chills up and down my spine and thought, ‘This is special. There is something about these six, this script for them, that’s special,’” she told Rolling Stone Magazine.

Jean Baptiste Lacroix/WireImage

However, during the filming of the series, Perry struggled with alcohol and drug addiction.

“I had this odd rule that I would never drink on a set,” Perry told The New York Times. “I went to work in extreme cases of hangovers. It’s so horrible to feel that way and have to work and be funny on top of that.

“I don’t remember three years of it,” Perry revealed in an interview with the BBC about filming Friends while struggling with his addiction. “I was a little out of it at the time — somewhere between Seasons 3 and 6.”

His co-stars were aware of his struggles.

“I tried to talk to him,” Matt LeBlanc, starring as Joey Tribbiani on Friends, told People. “There wasn’t a response. It’s such a personal struggle; they need to bottom out on their own.”

“When Matthew was sick, it was not fun,” Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, recalled in an interview with the New York Times about Perry’s struggles during the 2000-2001 season. “We were just hopelessly standing on the sidelines. We were hurting a lot. Matthew is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met in my life. He’s charming and hilarious. Most of our hard laughs came from Matthew.”

Perry made millions laugh, but his personal life was a real struggle. He fought his demons almost his entire life and spent millions of dollars on rehab.

Perry never married and never had children, although he wanted to be a father.

Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images

He once dated Julia Roberts but believed he wasn’t good enough for her.

In 2020, he got engaged to literary manager Molly Hurwitz, but the two announced their split just a year later.

Following his passing, another actress opened up about the fling she had with Perry during the time he still wasn’t cast for Friends, Gwyneth Paltrow, who took to Instagram to share her tribute.

She wrote, “I met Matthew Perry in 1993 at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts. We were both there for most of the summer doing plays. He was so funny and so sweet and so much fun to be with,” along with a photo of Perry from his early days.

“We drove out to swim in creeks, had beers in the local college bar, kissed in a field of long grass. It was a magical summer. He had shot the pilot of Friends but it had not aired yet. He was nervous, hoping his big break was just around the corner. It was,” she continued, adding that the two stayed friends for a while but eventually “drifted apart.”

“I hope Matthew is at peace at long last. I really do,” Gwyneth Paltrow concluded.

Perry also mentioned this fling in his memoir writing that he met Gwyneth at a party and they “slipped off into a broom cupboard and made out.”

“This was the last summer of my life when I could make out at a party with a beautiful young woman called Gwyneth,” Perry wrote in his memoir. “And no one, save Gwyneth and I, cared.”

Matthew was truly one of a kind. He will forever be missed.

How the crippled woman made a nice family despite her condition shows that love always wins

Known as the “woman with a half a body,” Rose Siggins led quite a life.

This woman was a symbol of independence and strength as she managed to give birth to two children and raise them together with her husband besides having no legs.

Rose navigated around using a skateboard. She had lost her legs early in life due to a rare genetic disorder known as Sacral Agenesis, but that didn’t stop her from living a fulfilling life.

At the age of two-and-a-half, her parents agreed that doctors amputate Rose’s legs. They said this decision allowed “her to lead a fairly normal childhood.”

She was known to the public by the character Legless Suzi she played on American Horror Story: Freak Show, a program on the FX network. Rose was also featured in The Woman with Half a Body, a 2005 documentary about her life.

Rose married her husband Dave Siggins in 1999 and the couple welcomed two children together.

When she told doctors that she was pregnant, they were in complete shock, but she knew she was able to carry her baby, and eventually, she gave birth to a perfectly healthy son. Later on, she gave birth to a daughter.

Rose got a role in American Horror Story: Freak Show, set in one of the last remaining freak shows in the US and following its attractions’ struggle for survival that earned 20 Emmy nominations, including outstanding limited series. Following the show, she became known in the States and in every other country where the series aired.

Unfortunately, Rose died in 2015 following a kidney stone surgery, during which she contracted an infection which ultimately caused her death.

The cast of the series paid tribute to Rose. Sarah Paulson posted a number of tweets honoring her late co-star who she called “an absolute light.”

“I will never forget your laugh or your beautiful eyes,” she wrote.

Rose Siggings truly was an extraordinary woman.

The haunting last photo Matthew Perry shared on Instagram

The tragic and sudden death of actor Matthew Perry shook the world. Millions of fans are mourning the loss of the man who will always be remembered by the iconic character of Chandler Bing he played in the show Friends.

Nearly two decades after the final episode aired, Friends still remains one of the most popular TV shows of all time. The life of the six friends living in Manhattan and going through troublesome but fun time together became a synonym for true friendship.

The finale of Friends was watched by 50 million Americans. For the last season, the six friends were paid each $1 million per episode. With the show being on the screens ever since it first aired, Perry, and his co-workers, earned about $20 million per year just for the reruns.

Spokesperson of the LA Fire Department reported that first responders arrived at Perry’s home at about 4 p.m. regarding a “water emergency” of an unknown type, but did not name the actor. Sadly, upon arrival, they discovered Perry’s unresponsive body. According to them, there were no drugs of any type at the scene. At the time being, no foul play is suspected.

Born in 1969 to a Canadian mother and American father, the actor made his film debut in the 1988 film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, which also stars the late River Phoenix.

Other shows he appeared in are Growing PainsSydney with Valerie Bertinelli and Beverly Hills, 90210.

Many celebrities paid tribute to the great actor. Among them was Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who took to X to share his devastation over Perry’s tragic passing. “Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”

Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s troublesome ex-girlfriend Janice in Friends, was the first of Perry’s co-stars to publicly pay tribute to the actor. “I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared,” she wrote on Instagram.

Perry’s on-screen mother, actress Morgan Fairchild, wrote, “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son,’ Matthew Perry. The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock.”

Selma Blair referred to Perry as to her “oldest boy friend.” She added: “All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day. I loved him unconditionally. And he me. And I’m broken. Broken-hearted. Sweet dreams Matty. Sweet dreams.”

Speaking of his life, Perry revealed during numerous occasions that he battled many addictions.

When he was cast in Friends, one of the most popular shows ever created, Perry rose to stardom. But at the same time, he started abusing alcohol.

“I could handle it, kind of. But by the time I was 34, I was really entrenched in a lot of trouble,” Perry confessed. “But there were years that I was sober during that time. Season 9 was the year that I was sober the whole way through. And guess which season I got nominated for best actor? I was like, ‘That should tell me something.’”

In 2016, he admitted he didn’t remember three years of filming during Friends.

“I didn’t watch the show, and haven’t watched the show, because I could go, ‘Drinking, opiates, drinking, cocaine,’” he said last year. “I could tell season by season, by how I looked. That’s why I don’t wanna watch it, because that’s what I see.

“But I think I’m going to start to watch it because it’s been an incredible thing to watch it touch the hearts of different generations.”

Days before his passing, Perry shared his last Instagram post. Hauntingly, the photo he shared showed himself in a hot tub.

Rest in peace, Matthew Perry, your enchanting smile will never be forgotten.

Officials provide more details about Matthew Perry’s death

Friends star Matthew Perry was found dead Saturday in his Pacific Palisades home. Law enforcement reported that upon arrival, they found the actor’s unresponsive body in the hot tub.

He was 54.

Authorities provided new details regarding the tragedy that shook the entire world and the millions of fans Perry made laugh through his iconic role of Chandler Bing, but it will take time until the exact cause of death is revealed.

As per the officials, they received a medical call from Perry’s home overlooking the Pacific Ocean at around 4 p.m. Saturday reporting that the actor was in a hot tub and not breathing. So far, the identity of the caller hasn’t been revealed.

“An adult male patient was deceased prior to first response arrival,” the LAFD said in a statement. “The patient was found by a bystander who had re-positioned the victim where the head was out of water” in a freestanding hot tub.

“Firefighters pulled the victim out of the jacuzzi and did a quick medical assessment to find he was deceased,” the statement read.

The ongoing investigation which is to determine the cause of death will likely take months to finish. Reports are that no drugs of any kind were found at the scene, but The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will include toxicology tests.

As per reports, the medical examiner has completed an autopsy, but a cause of death was “deferred.”

The “cause of death may not be known for some time, but at this point foul play is not suspected,” said LAPD Capt. Scot Williams, who leads the Robbery Homicide Division and is inspecting Perry’s tragic passing.

Though it has been revealed that the late actor was found dead in the hot tub, no determination has been made as to whether he drowned.

Rest in peace, Matthew Perry.

A social media commenter noticed something weird in mom’s photo, and now her daughter’s life will never be the same

Being a parent is one of the most wonderful things a person can ever experience. Most new moms and dads are so happy with their bundles of joy that they tend to share that happiness with the rest of the world by posting a bunch of photos of their little ones on social media.

Ashley and J.P. Rosenbaum, the couple who met on the reality show The Bachelorette, are no exception. During that season, Ashley was the bachelorette and she chose to accept J.P.’s marriage proposal. The two married on the show.

When their second child was born, they were eager to post photos of baby Essex on Instagram. Being sort of celebrities, they have plenty of followers and get a number of comments on their posts. Sometimes, those comments are positive, and sometimes, not that much, but one particular comment under one of Essex’s photos affected their life.

Speaking to People, Ashley explained that the comment, which came from a complete stranger, caught her eye. At first, she didn’t pay much attention, but she somehow couldn’t get her mind off the words she read so she decided to look into it.

“Our daughter, when she was born, I was posting pictures of her and somebody wrote me a message saying, ‘Hey, get her checked out’ because she was always twisted, she had torticollis. Someone said, ‘Get it checked out because my son had the same thing.’”

After getting the girl checked out, Ashley was shocked to learn that the stranger who took the time to comment on her photo was right. Essex was diagnosed with torticollis, a condition involving the muscles of the neck that causes the head to tilt down. Although the exact cause is not known, it is believed that this condition is caused by a neck muscle injury at birth. The good thing is that it is treatable if caught early, and thanks to that comment, Essex was diagnosed just in time to get the right treatment.

“We got the baby helmet and everything!” mom Ashley explained.

Ashley and J.P.’s marriage didn’t last long. They share two children together and split custody.

Before his death, Matthew Perry revealed the truth about Jennifer Aniston

Through his iconic role of Chandler Bing, late actor Matthew Perry brought joy to millions of people worldwide. Sadly, although he made many laugh, he wasn’t able to help himself in his years-long struggle with addiction.

In his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which he released last year, Perry spoke openly about his fight with addiction. Among the rest, he also revealed certain truth about co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub in his LA home at the weekend. The exact reason of his death is yet to be investigated.

He had his breakthrough role as the sharp-tongued Chandler Bing in Friends. He played the role for ten years, from 1994 to 2004.

Throughout his career, which spanned decades, Perry had starring roles in the 1997 romcom Fools Rush In with Salma Hayek, and in 2000 and 2004 he played alongside Bruce Willis in The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel, The Whole Ten Yards.

Back in 2018, he suffered a health scare when he was hospitalized for a gastrointestinal perforation and was in coma for two weeks and spent five months in the hospital.

“The doctors told my family that I had a two per cent chance to live,” Perry shared with People. “I was put on a thing called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and your lungs. And that’s called a Hail Mary. No one survives that.”

Perry confessed many times that the rest of the cast of Friends were aware of his addiction, and they were there for him because they were very close not only on-screen but in real life too.

They were very understanding and patient. “It’s like penguins. Penguins, in nature, when one is sick, or when one is very injured, the other penguins surround it and prop it up. They walk around it until that penguin can walk on its own. That’s kind of what the cast did for me,” Perry said.

However, it was Jennifer Aniston who stood by his side through thick and thin. She was the one who stayed in close contact with him during his ups and downs.

“She was the one that reached out the most,” he said in an October 2022 interview with Diane Sawyer. “You know, I’m really grateful to her for that.”

Aniston was at the same time the first one to confront him about his drinking problems.

“Jennifer, she says, ‘We know you’re drinking,’” Sawyer said, referring to a revelation made in Perry’s book.

“Yeah, imagine how scary a moment that was,” Perry responded.

Following Perry’s tragic passing, fans left flowers outside the Friends apartment facade in West Village, Manhattan.

The actor’s family released a statement and said they were “heartbroken by the loss.”

“Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love,” their statement said.

Fans, colleagues, producers, and other celebrities paid tribute to the late actor.

Rest in Peace, Matthew Perry.

Everyone’s afraid of cancer but this kills more people than cancer yearly…

Even the thought of being diagnosed with cancer give people chills. However, what many aren’t aware of is that cancer isn’t number one reason for the number of deaths in the States and many other countries.

In fact, it is heart disease that has been the leading cause of death in the United States since 1950.

Risk factors for heart disease include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and excessive alcohol use.

Diagnosing heart issues isn’t always easy. Doctors may be able to see plaque or calcification of the arteries, but in most cases they cannot.

Coronary heart disease (CHD), the most common issue people face, is usually caused by a build-up of fatty deposits (atheroma) on the walls of the arteries around the heart (coronary arteries).

The build-up of these atheroma makes the arteries narrower, restricting the flow of blood to the heart muscle. This process is called atherosclerosis.

Issues with the heart are many times caused by the consumption of certain foods, so this is the list of what you should avoid and what you should include in your diet.

Processed Sugar can raise blood pressure as well as create inflammation in the body which as a result makes the heart work harder. Sugar is best to be consumed in the form of fruits and natural carbohydrates. Avoid packaged and processed sugary foods or drinks whenever you can.

Processed Salt contains sodium, a mineral that plays a role in the healthy function of nerves and muscles and helps keep your body’s fluid levels in proper balance. However, too much sodium can cause fluid retention, which can increase blood pressure, and high blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart attack, stroke and heart failure.

Too much Calcium can trigger the body to store this mineral in a wrong way and unhealthy places. Unhealthy calcium storage appears in the form of bone spurs, arthritis, and worse, having calcium and plaque build up in your arteries. This can cause the heart to pump harder.

Lack of movement. Movement is critical for heart health and heart rate. To move continuously is an important thing. Walks are one of the best things you can do for heart health.

Low Nitric Oxide Levels – Healthy levels of nitric oxide support the micro-circulation in the body which helps blood flow better and for it to get to the difficult to reach places in the body. When the blood transports better the nutrients within the blood get to where they need to also.

Levels of nitric oxide can be elevated through foods such as leafy greens, pomegranate, cacao (chocolate), beets, garlic, citrus fruits and watermelon.

Destined to always be doll size: A look at little Thumbelina girl’s Life in the present

Abigail Lee is a two-year-old girl who looks way younger, and the reason for that is that she suffers from a specific form of dwarfism.

When she was born, Abigail was diagnosed with Microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II, which according to the National Library of Medicine is the most common form of microcephalic primordial dwarfism characterized by extreme short stature and microcephaly along with distinctive facial features.

Sadly, this condition is usually accompanied by other health issues, including abnormal dentition, a slender bone skeletal dysplasia with hip deformity and/or scoliosis, insulin resistance / diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, cardiac malformations, and global vascular disease.

However, despite her condition, Abigail hasn’t been diagnosed with any of the conditions listed above. What’s most, she seems to be super healthy so far.

She weights only 9 pounds and her parents sometimes take her outside using a doll stroller, because that’s how big Abi is.

This beauty brings joy to her parents and family. She always smiles, and loves being around people.

We truly hope that she would do even better in the years to come and she would be able to do everything other kids her age do, like attending school and having fun with friends.

What the noseless girl looks like nowadays

When baby Tessa from Ireland was born, she caught the attention of many. Namely, this sweet baby was born without a nose.

The anomaly was detected while Tessa’s mom was pregnant and the couple was advised to terminate the pregnancy, but neither her mom nor her dad wanted to do something like that. Since the baby was developing inside the womb, they believed there was a chance that she could have a normal life after she was born too.

Tessa’s parents were more than willing to take care of a special child.

Today, Tessa is four years old.

Over the course of the years, she has undergone plenty of surgeries that were meant to help her live a normal life, as much as that is possible.

Sadly, having no nose isn’t the only difficulty this girl faces. She’s also deaf, and recently, she went blind on one of her eyes as a result of a surgery she had undergone.

However, despite all these challenges, Tessa is a happy child. She loves her life and is happy to have such caring parents and siblings who love her endlessly.

Her mom hopes that over time, doctors would be able to ease her life even further.

Tessa, we wish you only the best life brings.

Her husband took a photo of her in 1992 and told her “It’s the last night you’re going to live…”

We never know what happens behind closed doors. There are families that appear happy on the social media, but the hell some of the members are going through is unimaginable.

A woman named Judy Sharp, a victim of domestic violence, is sharing her life story which she wants to serve as a reminder that there is always a way out, you just need to fight hard and remember that you are not alone.

The moment Judy got married to her husband Mike, she knew her life would never be the same.

He was a very jealous man who wouldn’t let her step foot outside of the house. He was controlling and she was desperately unhappy. In order to be sure she wouldn’t leave the house even for a second, he would leave her penniless and would place tapes over the front and back door of the house that he would later check.

When Judy fell pregnant with the couple’s first child, she had hopes that her life would change for the better, but sadly, things only got worse and the abuse she suffered intensified even further.

Not only he insulted her as a woman, but he called her a bad mother.

One day, as she was sitting on the sofa with her two boys, Mike started insulting her. He then took the camera, took a photo of her and their sons, and told her it was the last day she was alive. The photo would serve as a memory of her for the boys.

The haunting photograph

Judy panicked and knew she needed to stand for her and her sons.

She started looking for a shelter that would accept her and the boys, but since one of them had autism, they wouldn’t. The only option left was to rent a home, and that’s exactly what she did.

Judy found a place to stay and was able to pay rent for some time thanks to the money she managed to withdraw from the joint bank account.

Judy found a place to stay and was able to pay rent for some time thanks to the money she managed to withdraw from the joint bank account.

Once away from home, she felt relieved.

Mike was looking for them but was unable to track them down. Eventually, he quit.

Today, Judy’s sons are all grown up. Sam is now 30 and a swim coach who trialled for the Olympics and Tim, 32, is a successful artist. She’s proud of them, and she’s happy to gather the courage to leave from an abusive marriage years ago.

Judy wants to send the message that domestic violence should never be endured, by no person, ever!

Why people are no longer buying memory foam mattresses – Two reasons to avoid

Good night sleep is what each of us longs for because if we get a quality rest during the night, we will feel energized and in a good mood in the morning.

Sadly, falling asleep easily and not waking up during the night is something a lot of people struggle to achieve.

One of the ways to get a good night sleep, however, is by creating a good sleeping environment, and that includes choosing the right mattress among the rest.

So what makes a perfect mattress, you may wonder. In recent years, there is this belief circulating around that memory foam mattresses are the ones to avoid.

The reason for this comes after these mattresses were questioned and second-guessed by consumers following the realization that there have been changes in the market when it comes to their production.

According to research, memory foam mattresses are full of chemicals that off-gas while one is sleeping, including diisocyanates, flame retardants, polyols, as well as chemicals known as ‘blowing agents.’

The issue is that these chemicals are inhaled for at least eight hours while a person sleeps on such a mattress.

One person is sharing his personal experience with a memory foam mattress. He claims that once he purchased a memory foam mattress, he noticed it smelled weird. There were instructions not to use it for the first day or two so he decided to leave the windows of his bedroom open so there was a cross-breeze and he even placed some charcoal packets next to the mattress as charcoal is believed to soak up smells.

Once he started sleeping on it, he noticed that his gasses smelled the same his mattress has, and his pee the following morning had a strange color.

After a few days, he called the store to return the mattress and that’s when he realized he wasn’t the only person who has experienced these changes in his body.

Other chemicals memory mattresses are full of, according to research, are:

Methylbenzene, known as toluene, which is a clear liquid that occurs naturally and comes from crude oil. When inhaled in large quantities, this liquid is toxic.

Formaldehyde, a by-product of the foam manufacturing process. Formaldehyde fumes can irritate the eyes, nose and mouth, and it is known to be a human carcinogen.

Methylene Dianiline used as a reactant in the foam manufacturing process that causes irritation when it comes into contact with skin, and may be carcinogenic. But the results are unsure until further testing is done.

Methylene Chloride was formerly used as a blowing agent. This substance is a suspected carcinogen and can also pose serious health risks by coming into contact to the skin or mucous membranes, which occur while sleeping on memory foam.

Chlorofluorocarbons were formerly used as a blowing agent, and are in memory foam, but use of these substances is now limited because of their ozone-depleting effects in our atmosphere.

Next time you choose your new mattress, take this information into consideration, or simply do your own research on what will suit you best.

‘FRIENDS’ STAR MATTHEW PERRY DEAD AT 54 …

Actor Matthew Perry, famously known for the role of Chandler Bing in the iconic show Friends, was found dead Saturday in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, law enforcement has reported.

A representative of the actor hasn’t issued any comments regarding the tragic incident.

The investigation over Perry’s passing is still ongoing and the cause of death remains unknown. It will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office at a later date.

“We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry,” Warner Bros. Television Group, which produced “Friends,” said in a statement to The Times. “Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”

“We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry,” NBC, which aired the series for all 10 seasons, said in its own statement to The Times. “He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”

Saturday evening yellow-and-black LAPD crime scene tape blocked off the entrance to Blue Sail Drive, a tony street just off the Pacific Coast Highway at the crest of a hill with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean.

Shortly after 7 p.m., as multiple helicopters whirred overhead, Perry’s mother, Suzanne, and her husband, broadcaster Keith Morrison, joined the journalists and LAPD officers on the scene. Morrison declined to comment. An LAPD officer at the scene said he had no information and that he did not know when any would be forthcoming.

Peter, a neighbor of Perry’s on Bluesail Drive who declined to give his last name Saturday evening, said he only spoke to the actor once, for five minutes, and that he was “very pleasant” and a “nice guy.”

“It’s shocking,” Peter said as he waited for the LAPD, who had barred journalists from passing the police tape, to approve him for entry. “He’s been redoing this house forever and he seemed fine. It’s very sad.”

Leo, another neighbor who declined to give his full name, said he was home when an ambulance arrived at Perry’s house Saturday afternoon. He declined to say whether paramedics tried to revive Perry or if a body was removed from the premises.

“I was shocked,” he said. “It was very disturbing and sad after all these years.”

Perry was one of his favorite actors, Leo said, and the funniest member of the “Friends” cast.

“I encountered him once and he was very, very friendly. More so than I thought,” Leo said. “It’s definitely a tragedy, especially at such a young age,” he added. “I was very heartbroken to see what happened.”

Perry, the son of actor John Bennett Perry and Suzanne Marie Langford, onetime press secretary of Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, was born in 1969 and grew up between Montreal and Los Angeles after his parents separated when Perry was 1.

He got his start as a child actor, landing guest spots on “Charles in Charge” and “Beverly Hills 90210” and playing opposite River Phoenix in the film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon” in the 1980s and early 1990s.

But his big break came when he was cast in “Friends” — originally titled “Friends Like Us” — a sitcom about six single New Yorkers navigating adulthood that premiered on NBC in 1994.

The series soon became a juggernaut, the anchor of the network’s vaunted Thursday-night “Must-See TV” lineup, and turned Perry and his castmates Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer into mega-stars almost overnight. At its high-water mark — for a 1996 Super Bowl episode and the 2004 series finale — the series could notch more than 50 million live viewers; by its end, cast members were earning more than $1 million an episode.

As Chandler Bing, the handsome, wisecracking roommate of LeBlanc’s Joey Tribbiani and, later, love interest of Cox’s fastidious Monica Geller, Perry distinguished himself in a crackling ensemble cast. With his dry delivery he created a catchphrase with a mere turn of inflection, based on banter he’d shared with childhood friends: Could he be any more Chandler?

Soon, he was attached to major stars like Julia Roberts and appearing in prominent films such as 1997 rom-com “Fools Rush In,” opposite Salma Hayek, and 2000 ensemble mob comedy “The Whole Nine Yards” with Bruce Willis.

There was a dark side to the life of one of television’s most beloved funnymen, however. In his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry recounted his lifelong struggle with addiction to alcohol and opioids. He wrote that he had his first drink at 14, but didn’t recognize the signs of alcoholism until 21. Since then, he estimated, he’d spent more than $7 million on efforts to get sober, including multiple stints in rehab. His substance abuse also led to a number of serious health issues, including a five-month hospitalization in 2018 following a colon rupture that left him, he wrote, with a 2% chance to live through the night.

And it was fueled, he acknowledged during a “Friends” reunion special in 2021, by the pressure to land the joke in front of a live studio audience night after night.

“Nobody wanted to be famous more than me,” Perry told The Times in April, discussing “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” at the Festival of Books. “I was convinced it was the answer. I was 25, it was the second year of ‘Friends,’ and eight months into it, I realized the American dream is not making me happy, not filling the holes in my life. I couldn’t get enough attention. … Fame does not do what you think it’s going to do. It was all a trick.”

Perry was remembered on Saturday by friends and collaborators such as Selma Blair, Paget Brewster, Morgan Fairchild and Mira Sorvino as a singular comic talent and kind soul.

Perry’s “Friends” co-star Maggie Wheeler, who played his on-again, off-again girlfriend Janice on the hit show, shared a sweet tribute on Instagram.

“What a loss. The world will miss you Mathew Perry,” she wrote. “The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

He was also memorialized by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pierre’s son and one of Perry’s childhood friends.

“Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening,” Trudeau wrote on X. “I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved — and you will be missed.”

Though Perry estimated he had relapsed “60 or 70 times” since first getting sober in 2001, he maintained a steady presence on American television, playing key parts in backstage dramedy “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and therapy sitcom “Go On,” and making a steady stream of guest appearances on acclaimed shows such as “The West Wing” and “The Good Wife.”

Since his near-death experience in 2018, Perry had found solace in friends, frequent games of pickleball and, especially, writing. Though producing “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing” had forced him to relive his darkest moments, it also connected him to “all the sufferers out there”: “I had a story to tell, a story that could really help people,” he wrote. “And helping others had become the answer for me.”

Indeed, for all his success as an actor and, more recently, as a bestselling memoirist, Perry told The Times in April that his work was not the center of what he hoped would be his legacy.

Pressed to name how he’d like to be remembered, he said: “As a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well and helped people. That running into me was a good thing, and not something bad.”

Rest in Peace
