This boy, only ten years old came to the coffee shop and took a seat at one of the tables there, the waitress who was working in that section was really annoyed. He was just a child and he wasn’t really going to spend a lot of money! She thought he was wasting her time… It was her job, after all, to serve customers, paying customers of course, but no matter how little they ordered they are still paying and valued customers, right? She went to the table an put a glass in front of his face… He said to her, innocently:

“Miss, how much is an ice cream sundae?”

She said:

“Fifty cents”

He was quiet like he was thinking a little and looked down then he asked her the cost of a regular ice cream. The waitress at this stage was growing impatient with the little boy. There was a line building up over at the door and she wanted to get on and seat all the people building up waiting for seats. She replied to him, quite impatiently:

“A plain cup of ice cream is 35 cents”

The little boy decided to order the regular ice cream, he gave her his menu with a smile. Just a few minutes after she returned with the ice cream and the bill then walked off without saying anything. The little boy politely sat there, he ate his ice cream and, paid for it and left! The waitress soon saw that the table was empty and was sighed relief that the child had not taken up too much of her time, she went straight over to the table and cleared up, quickly preparing it for the next customers. Just at that moment, she was clearing up the table she was something at the table that really deeply touched her and made her feel so incredibly sad! It was a tip the little boy had left her a 15 cent tip, he had given her the rest of the money he had, how amazingly kind and sweet! She was stunned and stood there, paused for a moment thinking about what the little boy had done. The only reason he couldn’t afford an ice cream sundae was that he included her tip in his costs The waitress was overcome with guilt, how could she have been so cold towards him and selfish? The tears welled up in her eyes the more she thought about it and her conversation with the little boy, he gave up his sundae to give her a tip! Every family is unique and certainly, there are not many families in America like Madeleine’s family! Her parents were only teenagers when she was born, young and unprepared for family life they still refused to give up on their baby girl and each other! With all odds against them, Madeleine’s family managed to rise above it all. She posted this picture online when graduating high school and it truly shows their perseverance!

Madeleine shared her family’s amazing story with the Love What Matters Facebook page. “We made it TOGETHER. My mom was 15 while pregnant with me, she had me at 16. My dad was 17. The original picture is from June 2000. My parents were judged a lot during this time but stayed strong together. They both lived with their parents but were raising me together. They were determined to make it and provide me with a future. My dad worked full time in construction and my mom was still playing soccer. Today, they have a strong, loving marriage. They purchased a beautiful home. My mom is a stay-at-home mom and my dad has a great career as a longshoreman. I have two little sisters that are following in my footsteps.”

“The original photo has always been an inspiration to me. I wanted to recreate this photo since the beginning of my senior year but especially after I accepted my offer to college. I also wanted it to be a reflection to show them how far we’ve come together as a family. My parents have always been my motivation to be successful in high school and now strive to do well in college. I couldn’t ask for a more loving, supportive family than the one God gave me. Yeah, that’s right, we made it TOGETHER.” Madeleine’s family has overcome so many obstacles, laughing in the face of life’s challenges. This picture is the perfect representation of Madeleine’s wonderful childhood and her supportive family.

Life has its ups and downs, but Madeleine is lucky, she knows her parents will always be by her side, no matter what! This picture shows how happy and proud they are of their little girl graduating high school! They’re also very proud that she’s off to college and bettering herself. There are some really amazing people in this world, as adults, we have a good sense of what to do in most situations, but as a toddler, it’s much more difficult to know what to do, which makes this story even more amazing… Toddlers do have a basic idea of right and wrong but past that it’s difficult, as an adult we know for sure when we encounter a difficult situation but as a toddler, it’s not so clear. This toddler had an instinct that there was a danger, that she really needed help and she knew how to dial the police ‘911’ service… How this three-year-old knew that she needed help we may never really know, or how she knew to call 911 in an emergency, but she did… One day, home alone apart from another baby, all by herself, she made a decision,it would change her life forever!

A lot of kids might dial 911 because they don’t know any better, there are countless times when officers have turned up and only find there are children that called 911 because of thy needed help with their homework, or some other insignificant reason that wasn’t really legitimate. There have been cases where children have saved the lives of a member of their family by calling the police, like the case where a five-year-old saved the life of his father after he saw him lying on the ground.

This little girl though saved herself and a little one-year-old boy! Police officers arrived at the trailer park hole and they were shocked at what they found there! The anonymous three-year-old girl called 911 and spoke to the operator for over eight minutes until the sheriff’s deputies arrived there. The girl and the baby boy was in the trailer in Oak Park, Florida, alone, the trailer was dirty inside and there were three dogs inside with them. Both the children have dirty diapers on ad=nd dog feces was all over, two dogs were caged in the kitchen and one was running loose and quite aggressive. Most shocking of all was that there was an unsecured gun within reach of the children. There was a gun there to that one of the children could have gotten hold of! The authorities sad that the refrigerator was virtually empty… About two hours later Yajaira Tirado was found and charged with two counts of child neglect with no harm. She said:

….”she had only been gone for five minutes”

…to get groceries from a neighbor, but later admitted to the fact that really she lied about it. Tirado also told officers that she believed the shotgun was not working and broken. A member of the family was called to the home, and the children are now in his custody thankfully. The Department of Children and Families have been called to investigate the case.

Life in today’s world is pretty hard as is being a parent, but to be a single parent is even harder than that. Ashton Matheny is doing everything he can to raise his daughter on his own even though he is in a unique situation himself. Ashton Matheny is the boyfriend of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind, she is 22 years old, at eight months pregnant she had been murdered for her baby. The Bismarck Tribune said that Savanah disappeared one day after her neighbor asked her for some help. Some five days later the police found Savanah and Matheny’s daughter with the neighbor. The neighbor and her boyfriend were later charged with conspiracy to commit murder and kidnapping, also with giving false information to the police. Matheny said:

“All I wanted was a life with Savanna and my baby …But they took it from me. My world’s gone, man. They took my world from me.”

Savanah’s body was found a few days after over in the Red River, what an awful thing it was! Matheny told everyone about his long-term girlfriend that he had planned to marry! He said:

“She would have been the best mom ever …She was so good with kids.”

The baby who is called Haisley Jo is really healthy and thank goodness, after being born four weeks early it’s really great that he is so healthy! Matheny said that:

“She’s my miracle baby …She was perfect coming in.”

Matheny will have a steep hill ahead of him to climb, he is now learning to not just cope with the loss of his loved one, but also learning to raise his daughter all by himself. He said:

“It was pretty overwhelming”

The really great thing is how he is approaching the thing, he says that he really and absolutely loves being a dad and adores his little girl! He said:

“She’s beautiful …She’s Savanna all the way.”

At the young age of twenty-two years, the father of this little girl now has to be mother and father to Haisley Jo. He bathes, feeds, changes her, all the time trying to get enough sleep to get the job done as best as he can! He said:

“I have to go over a checklist every time I leave the house”

He is playing the role of dad and being strong but all the tile he is taunted by what happened, it really doesn’t feel real at all. He says:

“I feel like I’m living a nightmare”

Although its been really hard for him that his parenting skills have improved and now that he has sole routines to follow he is getting along well and Haisley Jo is really happy, however, nothing numbs the pain of losing Savanah! Matheny said:

“I have dreams of Savanna almost every night …My dreams about her have been frequent lately. She’s in my dreams all the time. Everyone says you have your daughter to look forward to (raising). And I do. But that doesn’t bring back Savanna. Nothing will.”

There is one thing for sure about snow and ice when it comes to winter time, it guarantees that you have equal shares of accidents and hilarity! This is no exception, his icy driveway won’t let him win… This truly funny video gave so many people aching sides, you can see this guy getting on with his chores, putting out the garbage, well trying to… He has one unexpected obstacle though, a perilously icy driveway that just completely refuses to let him get to his own gate! The garbage truck makes its rounds and its routine stop, this English guy goes down to put his trach out. He didn’t bargain for the fight he was about to have. What usually takes just a few minutes turns into a hilarious comedy sketch, a slapstick scene that lasts forever, poor guy! He takes it up to a certain point, then just before the natural incline in his driveway, with his smooth soled shoes let him down. Repeatedly he gets to just the same spot and the trash bin pulls him right back again. The guy was really determined though, the trash was not about to beat him, his determination to get the trash out really had his family in stitches. In the end, his wife called him and told him to try pushing the Trash instead of trying to keep pulling it, but that just leads to the most amazing backslides! As this was all going on the Garbage truck backed out of their alley and started to go down the next lane, but even then the guy didn’t give up, he was so determined. At last, he had a revelation and he used the grass on the edge to get to the gate, it was a great plan until he got to the gate, then he had to slide along the driveway to get to the gate latch and open the gate! He opened the gate with one hand then the trash started rolling back again, this time though the guy used the gate to anchor himself, hanging on for dear life! He was pulled until he was right on the road nearly, but he plain refused to give in in the least bit. All that battling enabled him to actually pull the trash bin through the gate, then slapped the gate shut! It just goes to show that determination and persistence pay off, in the end, every time, and while he didn’t catch the Garbage truck that day, he beat it! He finally pulled the trash can through the gate and slammed it shut. He may not have caught up to the garbage truck that day, but he conclusively proved that persistence is the key to winning all wars. Even the ones against icy driveways and runaway trash cans! Receiving gifts is really great, but the whole process of both finding and giving a gift is the best and pleasurable part of the process. To see the person’s reaction is completely satisfying, especially to that special someone. That feeling you get when you search for and find a special gift, a really heartfelt gift for a special person in your life, it’s a real deeply precious feeling! Bill and Linda Modry were looking forward to just that, they were on their way to see their goddaughter, newly adopted, and they were very excited. They were so incredibly pleased that they could welcome the little girl to the family, and to give her a special gift to remember the occasion of coming into the family forever more. They had a shock at the airport though, as they went through security they were forced to throw the gift in the airport security trash! Waiting at the Airport security were Amarri Hernandez and her boyfriend, they were at the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and they saw it all happen almost right in front of them. Amarri said in a Facebook post:

“I witnessed a man being told that he was not allowed to take his package on the plane …The guy looked at the officer and said ‘Could I leave it at the airport in the lost and found. It’s a snowglobe for my adopted grandchild.’”

Amarri goes on:

“The officer replied ‘Put it in file 13’ and pointed at the garbage can …The man was hurt and threw it in the garbage.”

Amarri watched the man, quite hurt, walk away from the Trash, tears in his eyes, it really struck a note with her, she felt compassion and sadness for him. They both felt his pain and her boyfriend went to the trash to retrieve it. They opened the package and in it was a snowglobe, it really touched them, there were photos of the couple and the little girl… It was engraved with the lovely message saying:

“We love you Katie, Nana and Papa 1/25/16”

Amarri took action she posted the pictures of the gift, she was dead set on finding the rightful owners of the gift and reunite it with the couple.

Not surprisingly her post went viral, it was shared over 40,000 times. Very luckily it caught the right persons eye! An employee of a company that made the snow globe saw it, ‘Things Remembered’, and when they saw her post they got in touch! They searched their records to find the person they sent the snow globe to, it was Linda Modry. Amarri could send the item back to them, it was only then she realized how special it was! Linda said:

“She’s exceptional …This was something very special …It was for my granddaughter Katie because my son adopted her.”

She said that her granddaughter was really sad when Linda couldn’t bring the snowglobe to her in Ohio. Linda is so grateful to Amarri a,d her kindness.

Linda said:

“She’s just amazing. I can’t believe that she did this …People are basically really good, and she’s just exceptional.”

Amarri just keeps insisting that what she did was simply the right thing to do! Amarri said:

“My mom raised us to always be good to people …I would want the same thing to happen to me.”

Kevin Blanford was overjoyed at first when he realized that he won a trip to Puerto Rico, but there was a big problem… Because he had a 7-month-old daughter he was not allowed to take his wife with him. Kevin is a telecoms worker, he loves his wife and daughter, and nothing could make him feel sadder than taking the trip without them! He really didn’t have a “single second of fun”. He so wanted to show his wife how he felt about the trip without her and how much he didn’t have fun, at all! He began to take a series of photos, he did an amazing job of looking sad on his tropical vacation without his wife!

He looked so sad in the photos that the hotel, when they saw them, really couldn’t stand by and do nothing… Wyndham Rio Mar called him up and offered him a free repeat trip hotel stay with them, and a cruise, but this time he would get to bring his wife and little baby too. They repeated all the photos he took, but this time you can really see he is happy!

What a difference !!

Even the little baby is having an awesome time!

One observer said: “I assume the baby is taking the pictures when not in frame.”

“You even put on the same shirts. That’s dad-level dedication!”

Every girl get to the day she has her first period, and it’s quite a normal thing of course, but for Chloe Christos, a Perth, Australia girl, things were very different when she just kept bleeding… Chloe like most other girls looked forward to high school so much, the new things she would be doing, the big adventure that waited for her, and all the happy moments ahead! But soon enough she would soon have to find out something would change her life forever, in the most unexpected way! The tipping point for Chloe was after she had her first period. After this first time, the bleeding just carried on, longer than a week, longer than a month! It turned into five years, wow, poor Chloe was losing about a pint every four days…

Those five years were so hard, Chloe couldn’t do much of anything at all, she regularly fainted, her blood pressure was constantly low and she wasn’t allowed to go out in the car. Chole said that the most frustrating part of the whole thing was that she loved to be physically active and that she couldn’t be anymore.

Periods were a sort of a taboo subject and Chloe knew it’s typically a personal thing, it was a little embarrasing. She said:

“I knew it wasn’t quite right, but I was also embarrassed to talk about it. I felt very different and pretty alone.”

Five years of suffering was what it took before Chloe found the courage to look for help for her problem. Chloe met frustration again as many doctors dismissed her problem as womens troubles: The doctors wouldn’t take her seriously or treat her and ofter she was completely refused treatment at all even in the ER. As a female she felt she wasn’t being taken seriously at all.

Then, after some time she did manage to find a doctor who was gong to take her issue serioiusly and was going to diagnose her condition. Chloe’s blood has low levels of a protein associated with hemophilia, just like Von Willebrand’s disease. Combined, these indicated bleeding disorders, the kind that make it really difficult for blood to clot!

Chloe continued to suffer as the doctors continued to look for the solution to help her with her condition, they really struggled to do anyhting at all to help her. She was started on a synthetc drug that was made to treat the low protien levels of the protein factor VIII in her body. The drug had really bad side effects but she carried on with it for seven years. The success of it was incinsistent, and she had to take it all the time, she was desperately searching for better alternatives.

One doctor told her that the only option was to remove her uterus! In the end she turned away from doctors and sought help in the Hemophilia Center in Adelaide, Australia. The Hemophilia Center had a little breakthrough and could give her an experimental synthetic drug, which had only previously been given to male patients. Christos said: “It’s the difference between being hospitalized for two weeks of the month and taking two paracetamol and having a heat pack for one day,” Chloe said that, with the once a month injection, her periods are now normal, lasting just four to five days! Chloe has dedicated her life to fighting her abttle and advocating for equal rights for other women with similar issues to her own. She strives to help as many others as she can to recieve a proper diagnosis and traeatment that will work for them too.
