I almost spit out my coffee when I read a headline about the Sahara Desert turning green. I’ve spent years picturing the Sahara as this unchanging sea of scorching sand, not a place that suddenly sprouts plants and refills old lakes. But here we are, talking about a massive desert in northwestern Africa that’s getting more rain than usual, leading to little pockets of greenery. To me, it’s a fascinating reminder that nature is full of surprises.

I recall reading, ages ago, about the Sahara once being lush and full of life—something like 5,000 to 10,000 years back. I shrugged it off as ancient history. But now, after recent downpours in countries like Morocco, Algeria, and Libya, parts of the desert are temporarily going green again. It’s wild to think that seeds lying dormant for who knows how long can burst back to life. And who would’ve guessed we’d be talking seriously about the Sahara Desert turning green in modern times?

Scientists suggest these rains might be tied to shifting ocean temperatures and changing wind patterns. They say warm Atlantic waters nudged tropical storms north, dumping rain on areas that almost never see it. While some experts say this is a short-lived event, others are pointing out that extreme weather is becoming more common across the globe. If this keeps happening, maybe we’ll hear more stories about the Sahara Desert turning green—and not just as a random fluke.
Could It Last?
Part of me hopes the greening sticks around, but I’m not holding my breath. Deserts are deserts for a reason, and the Sahara’s still a place of extreme dryness most of the time. Plus, heavy rains in these regions also brought floods that devastated local communities, which is heartbreaking. So, this moment might just be a cool (and rare) snapshot of how even the driest areas can leap back to life when given a tiny window of opportunity. For now, though, I’m still blown away that the Sahara Desert turning green is even a topic of conversation—it’s a compelling hint at how complex and unpredictable our world can be.

Famous Italian news presenter Costanza Calabrese experienced an embarrassing moment live on TV when she accidentally revealed too much, obviously forgetting she was sitting at a glass desk.
The video of her, which has since gone viral, was taken in 2016. Positioned behind a transparent desk on Italian TV channel TG 5, Calabrese had her “basic instinct” moment.
The broadcast started with a close-up of her face and shoulders, but the camera then panned out, showing her sitting with her legs apart.
My one-bedroom apartment was all I needed. I was in a beautiful relationship and about to tie the knot, so that tiny place became our little sanctuary, cozy and warm, a place where my new life was about to start, or so I thought so, until I received a strange message written on a pizza box.
When Ryan and I moved to the apartment that I got to love so much, we often ordered pizza from the pizzeria just around the corner. It was always the same, a double pepperoni with extra cheese.
That Saturday evening, as I was going through the wedding guest list, I decided to treat myself with some pizza. Ryan was on a business trip, and didn’t feel like cooking.
Around half an hour later, the delivery guy that always delivered our pizza, greeted me. He had his cap on, as usual, but his demeanor was strange.
Before he handed me the pizza box, he asked me if I my fiancé was not home. The question felt rather odd, but I still answered it. “Ryan’s away on a business trip,” I said and smiled. The delivery guy, Anthony, gave me the pizza box and left.
When I opened it, I noticed a message written on the pizza box. It read: “HE IS NOT WHO YOU THINK HE IS. CHECK YOUR DOOR CAMERA.”
My heart dropped. “Is this a joke?” I thought to myself.
I closed the pizza box as I lost my appetite and rushed to check the footage from the security camera.
At first, there was nothing out of the ordinary, but then, I saw it. While I was at work, a woman, tall and elegant, came to our apartment. She was bringing a bottle of wine and Ryan opened the door and welcomed her inside.
They hugged before she entered.
I had never seen that woman before. Was he cheating on me?
I couldn’t wait to confront him, scared that he was indeed having an affair.
A day later, he returned from the trip. “Hey, babe, did you miss me?” he said and leaned to give me a kiss. But I didn’t let him. Instead, I showed him the footage from the security camera.
“What’s this Ryan?” I asked, trying to hold my tears from rolling down my face.
He looked at me and said, “Don’t be dramatic, I just felt overwhelmed, that doesn’t mean I don’t love you.”
“Wow,” I thought to myself. “You didn’t even deny it?”
I knew I couldn’t stay there any longer. My heart ached and my world collapsed, but at least I learnt what kind of man Ryan was before I married him.
A few days later, I stopped by at the pizza place. I saw Anthony there and thanked him for that message on the pizza box. He said that he had second thoughts about sharing Ryan’s secret with me, but simply couldn’t let me marry someone who wasn’t worth of me.
Eventually, I moved on. The only thing I sometimes miss from my old life is the tiny apartment.

With the latest executive order he signed, Donald Trump expended his presidential power but also triggered certain legal challenges.
Namely, the order will bring notoriously independent agencies under the White House’s control. This is part of Trump’s attempt to consolidate power and means that all agencies – such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – will be asked to submit their proposals and draft regulations for the president to review.
So far, no president has ever challenged the work of these agencies since their primary goal is in fact to act independently or semi-independently from the president, the Independentstates.

Those in the position of leading these agencies are often assigned long term – longer than the presidency – in order to be protected from political influence.
As per the Independent, the signing of this order will give Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget, the right to “adjust” congressional-appropriated funding depending on if the independent agency’s objectives are in line with Trump’s.
While the order doesn’t apply to the Federal Reserve’s handling of monetary policy, it does affect its other responsibilities, such as supervising banks and other financial organizations.
“For the Federal Government to be truly accountable to the American people, officials who wield vast executive power must be supervised and controlled by the people’s elected President,” the executive order states.

“The President and the Attorney General (subject to the President’s supervision and control) will interpret the law for the executive branch, instead of having separate agencies adopt conflicting interpretations.”
According to Trump, FTC, SEC, and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have spent billions of dollars on rules and regulations. However, they will “no longer impose rules on the American people without oversight or accountability.”
“Executive power without responsibility has no place in our Republic. The United States was founded on the principle that the government should be accountable to the people,” the order states.
“That is why the Founders created a single President who is alone vested with ‘the executive Power’ and responsibility to ‘take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed’.”

Becoming a mom changed my world in ways unimaginable. I enjoyed every second of it, but the little to no help I got from my husband made things hard. On top of that, when our washing machine broke, my husband’s answer to my demand to get a new one or at least fix that one left me shocked. Honestly, it was a moment that made me question my marriage.
Giving birth was a blessing, but juggling responsibilities became a burden for me because I felt like I was on my own. My husband, who was working, didn’t help around the house. My days were filled with chores and a piles of laundry.
For things to be even worse, the washing machine broke one day.
“Trevor, the washing machine is dead,” I remember telling my husband. “We need to get a new one, or at least fix that one. The piles of baby clothes are all piles up in the basket.”
Instead, I did what Trevor told me to because I didn’t want to argue with him. The following day, I did all the laundry by hand and couldn’t stop scratching my hands because of all the soap and the detergents. So, I decided to teach Trevor a lesson.
A couple of weeks later, instead of his lunch, I placed some stones in his lunch box and wrote a note. If he wanted my life to resemble that of the wives of the 19th century, then I thought his should have as well.
The note read: “Men once earned their daily bread with their own hands. Go forge your meal, spark a fire with these stones, and cook it over a flame.”
Well, Trevor’s reaction was just like I have imagined it would be.
When he returned home, he started yelling. “What the hell, Marina. I got so embarrassed in front of my co-workers. Are you insane?”
“What’s wrong, honey?” I asked. “So public humiliation is off-limits when it’s you, but when I’m stuck washing every single piece of laundry by hand, that’s fine with you?
“And if you put your mom’s needs before mine ever again, you better learn how to light a fire with those stones.”
It was obvious Trevor was still mad, but deep down he knew I was right.
The following day, I got my new washing machine and Trevor learned his lesson.

I was stunned to learn that DOGE reveals missing Treasury codes for a whopping $4.7 trillion in federal payments. According to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), the Treasury had an optional field known as Treasury Access Symbols (TAS). The big issue? Trillions of dollars were paid out without those codes, making traceability nearly impossible. DOGE praised the Treasury for requiring these codes moving forward, hoping it will shed light on exactly where all that money goes.
Staggering Figures, Surprising Solutions
The revelation came on Feb. 17, when DOGE reported that these missing codes caused huge gaps in financial tracking. Treasury Access Symbols are meant to denote which fund or account a particular payment belongs to, so you can imagine the confusion when DOGE reveals missing Treasury codes for such a massive sum. Meanwhile, DOGE also pitched a plan to do away with paper checks to save taxpayer money—citing an estimated $750 million in annual savings. They claim that, in fiscal year 2024 alone, the Treasury processed around 116 million paper checks.

Atherosclerosis, or clogged arteries, is a condition that occurs when fatty deposits accumulate along artery walls. This leads to the narrowing of the arteries and restriction to the blood flood to the heart and other body parts, thus causes coronary heart disease.

Gout is a form of arthritis that causes sudden and severe pain in the joints. While its treatment involves medications such as painkillers, it is the person’s lifestyle choices that can help prevent future attacks.

Uric acid appears naturally in the body when when substances called purines are broken down into waste products. Some foods and drinks that are rich in purines are: red meat, alcoholic beverages, fish and shellfish, mushroom, and certain vegetables such as asparagus, spinach, and cauliflower.
As per the Mayo Clinic, as gout progresses, it limits the range of motion in the joints.

Delta Airlines plane crashed and flipped while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 17.
Luckily, all of the 76 passengers and the four members of the crew survived. Eighteen people have been injured with only few of them reported to have sustained more serious injuries.
“We are very grateful there was no loss of life and relatively minor injuries,” Deborah Flint, CEO of Greater Toronto Airports Authority, said.
One of the passengers, and a plane crash survivor, who was on the flight that was heading from Minneapolis to Toronto was John Nelson.

He recalled the moment the plane flipped upside down.
Talking to ABC News, Nelson said, “The winds were whipping pretty hard and the runways were snow covered. There was no warning.”
He recalled that the plane hit the ground “extremely hard,” before popping a bit and then learning to the left.
“It was just incredibly fast. There was a giant firewall down the side. I could actually feel the heat through the glass,” Nelson recounted. “Then we were going sideways. I’m not even sure how many times we tumbled, but we ended upside down,” he shared with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
The plane crash survivor also recounted his memory of the stressful event to CNN, saying “It was a surreal feeling. And then everyone was just like, ‘Get out! Get out! Get out!'”
He added: “We could smell jet fuel. Even now I smell like jet fuel.”
Luckily, all of the passengers and the crew members were evacuated before more of the aircraft set on fire.
Many agree that it was miracle the plane didn’t burst into flames.
“The fact this plane did not explode in flames because of the amount of jet fuel is nothing short of a miracle,” one person commented on YouTube. “Thank god all the souls on this flight survived.”

Being a single mom of two, after my husband found someone else and vanished from our lives just like that, felt like a real struggle. Keeping up with my job, everything around the house, and my kids’ needs, I sometimes felt I was failing both as a human and as a mom. I was praying to God to give me the strength to endure it all, and then, something unlikely happened. I got Chinese food I didn’t order and the message on the back of the receipt set of a strange chain of events.
After my husband left, my world turned upside down. It wasn’t that I missed him, but I certainly missed the support, both financial and with my kids. All of a sudden it was just me and my children against the world, and things were hard.
Honestly, I struggled to provide food for them and pay all the bills while finding the time to be around them as much as they needed me to.
My kids were quick to sit at the table, waiting to have their share.
As we ate, I noticed there was a message on the back of the receipt that read: “Life has a way of surprising us in wonderful ways. Keep your heart open, and kindness will always find its way back to you.”
It felt strange, but I was glad about the mix up with the order.
In the morning, I noticed that my lawn was mowed. “What’s this?” I thought to myself. I was getting ready to mow it for days, but I couldn’t find the strength or the time, and now someone did it for me. But who could it be?
A couple of days later, as I headed to my car, I noticed a not placed on the windshield that read, “I noticed your car might need a little work. If you ever want to stop by, I’ll take a look—no charge. Just passing on the kindness.”
The man told me that my story “spread around.” In fact, it was him who wrote about me in the local Facebook group without revealing my identity. The neighbors decided to step in without me even knowing.
I looked at that young man and gave him a hug. I thanked him for everything he and the rest of the neighbors have done for me without making me feel like I owned them anything. Honestly, I have never felt like I belonged somewhere like I had around all those people from my tiny community.

Actress Kirstie Alley passed away in 2022 after battling cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease shortly before her passing, according to her children who shared the devastating news on the social media.
Alley was a two times Emmy winner.
She was born on January 12, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas where she attended high-school and graduated from university.
However, Kansas wasn’t the place where she wanted to be and she only realized that after she got involved with drugs.
Speaking of those times, the late actress revealed to Parade, “The truth of how I escaped Kansas is being high. I was drugged out of my mind … I got in the car, and I left to go to California.”
“If I hadn’t been drugged out, I would never have been able to realize my dream. It sounds so stupid but to extricate myself from Wichita, Kansas really took some doing.”

“With reality shows and things like that on TV now, people probably feel a little more hopeful that they could make something of themselves. But at that time, 30 years ago, it was just like, ‘How could I possibly dare to think that I could go be a star? The truth is that Alley struggled with her weight which she gained after she was diagnosed with Lyme disease.
Her weight loss journey, which wasn’t an easy one, served as inspiration to many.
“If I made cookies, I wouldn’t eat two cookies. I would eat 12 cookies! And I really went off the rails … I started drinking 12 grape sodas a day. I was consuming massive amounts of sugar!” she explained.
But she did manage to lose a significant amount of weight thanks to the weight-loss program Jenny Craig. When she became part of the dancing competition, many claimed Alley starved herself, which, according to the actress, wasn’t the case.
Alley was married twice. She and her second husband, actor Parker Stevenson, adopted two children together, son William and daughter Lillie. The couple divorced in 1997.
It was Alley’s children who announced the actress’ passing in 2022.
They shared that their mother died of cancer “she was diagnosed with just recently.”
“To all our friends, far and wide around the world…We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered. She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead,” the statement read.
“As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care. Our mother’s zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did. We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time. With love always, True and Lillie Parker.”

In the last years of her life, Kirstie Alley didn’t leave her home in Clearwater, Florida.
“She’s done with LA.,” a source told OK Magazine. “She’s happily disappeared into a quiet life in Clearwater, where she can also be more open about her beliefs.”
Another person close to the late actress added, “Kirstie hasn’t worked in over a year, and she’s fine with that,” an insider previously said. “She has no plans on returning to Hollywood.”

Her ex-husband, Parker Stevenson, posted a touching tribute to Alley on Instagram.
“Dear Kirstie, I am so grateful for our years together and for the two incredibly beautiful children and now grandchildren that we have,” he wrote alongside a photo of Alley. “You will be missed. With love, Parker.”
Further, many of her colleagues and friends paid their tribute. Among the first who posted a touching message of condolences was actor John Travolta. “I love you, Kirstie,” he wrote on Instagram. “I know we will see each other again.”

Ovarian cancer affects 7,500 women each year in UK only, making it the 6th most common cancer in women.
This cancer affects the ovaries and is more common in women over the age of 50. Sadly, it is often diagnosed late, but if caught early, it is more treatable.
Even women who had had their ovaries removed are not immune to this cancer as it can also affect the fallopian tubes, or the lining inside the tummy (peritoneum).
Although the exact cause of ovarian cancer is unknown, there are certain factors that can increase or reduce the risks.
As per the Cancer Research UK, some of those factors are age – most affected women of this form of cancer are those aged 75 to 79 – inherited faulty genes, previous diagnosis of cancer at younger age (especially breast cancer), using hormone replacement therapy (HRT), smoking, and certain medical conditions such as endometriosis or diabetes.
The symptoms of ovarian cancer can be vague. The most common ones include:
Abdominal bloating: Feeling bloated during menstrual period or after consuming certain foods is rather normal. However, if the bloated tummy persists it can be a symptom of ovarian cancer. Around 72% of individuals with ovarian cancer experienced bloating.
Pelvic or stomach pain: A research by the National Library of Medicine reports that 39% of women with this type of cancer experienced pelvic or stomach pain. Some described it as an intense pressure, while others compare it to menstrual pain.
Bowel pattern changes: Diarrhea and constipation have been experienced by around 20% of women with ovarian cancer prior to their diagnosis, a research reveals.
Urinary changes: The need for frequent urination is listed as yet another ovarian cancer symptom. Besides this, some individuals reporting feeling a burning sensation during urination, or feeling their bladder being full after urinating.
Changes to your cycle: A 2020 research shows that 13% of women diagnosed with this type of cancer experienced vaginal bleeding prior to their diagnosis.
Weight loss: Another symptom of cancer is weight loss even when the individual isn’t trying to lose any.
Other conditions can show similar symptoms so it is always of crucial importance to consult with your doctor if you notice any changes in your body that may indicate any sickness.

A devastated father spoke of his heartbreak over losing his 7-year-old daughter after her mom shot and killed his other daughter and her two daughters from a new relationship in what the police determined to be a murder-suicide.
Olivia Blackmer, 7, passed away after undergoing a brain surgery and spending five days at the hospital following the shooting that took place in the family home in Wyoming.
Olivia’s three sisters, Brailey, 9, Brooke, nearly 3, and Jordan, 2, died at the scene while she fought for her life, but sadly, didn’t make it.
In a crowdfunder post, Olivia’s family wrote that she “fought so, so hard up til the last minute.”
“Olivia is with her sisters now,” the family wrote.
“Her body and her brain had been through too much, medication helped but we reached a point where medical options were exhausted and her body only continued to get worse.”
On the day of the tragedy, the girls’ mother, Tranyelle Harshman, 32, called the police and alerted them of the shooting in the family home, according to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, the force said that Harshman told them what happened to her daughters and said she was going to do the same to her, revealing the location of the each of the girls within the house.
Once at the scene, Harshman was still responsive, but died a day later, February 11, at a hospital.

According to her husband, Cliff, Harshman wasn’t “a monster,” but she suffered from mental health issues, including PTSD and postpartum depression. Conditions she was receiving treatment for.
Olivia and Brailey’s father, Quinn Blackmer, expressed his sorrow over the devastating loss of his two daughters whose mom shot.
“The amount of devastation we feel and are going through is so much,” he wrote, saying he finds ‘peace’ in “knowing that my babies don’t have to be apart from each other and they can also be with their other sisters.”
He thanked those who contributed to the GoFundMepage and added: “From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank every single person that has donated and prayed and fasted for us and our family and our beautiful Olivia.
“Your kindness and generosity has been so much and we just ask that you continue to pray and keep us all in your thoughts.”

The case of Gabby Petito, a young woman who was reported missing after taking a cross-country trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, in the summer of 2021, attracted the attention of the entire country.
Brian returned home without Gabby and soon after became a sole person of interest in her death. He was on the run for some time before he killed himself.
Gabby’s body was found shortly after in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Months after her tragic passing, FBI released a letter Gabby Petito sent to her killer boyfriend, showing just how much she loved him. In it, she begged him to stop “calling me names because we’re a team and I’m here with you.”
Further, the letter read, “Yes, I can be a child sometimes I know, but it’s ‘cause you give me this energy and I just love you too much. Like so much it hurts.
“So you in pain is killing me. I’m not trying to be negative, but I’m frustrated there’s not more I can do.”

FBI also released pictures of personal possessions of Gaby and Brian, as well as other federal documents related to the case.
The family of Gabby Petito sued the police for $50 million in a lawsuit that is still ongoing.

Prior to her missing, a footage of Gabby was taken by the police when the van she and Brian were traveling with was stopped. The footage was later released to the public but it painted Gabby Petito as the aggressor of the two.
Another footage, taken by another police officer, which was an hour long, shows Gabby admitting she had been grabbed and hit by her boyfriend. Former attorney Happy Morgan has accused the department of a “cover-up” for failing to release this second footage. It was only shown to the public after he lodged a complaint.
The officers, despite being told by Gabby that she had been hit by Brian, failed to arrest him.
Following Gabby’s death, her family accused Brian’s parents, Roberta and Christopher Laundrie, of covering up for their son.

This came after a letter Roberta wrote to her son, in which she wrote she would even help him dispose of a body should he need help, came to light.
“I just want you to remember I will always Love you, and I know you will always Love me. You are my boy. Nothing can make me stop loving you. Nothing will or could ever divide us: no matter what we do, or where we go or what we say — we will always Love each other,” Roberta wrote to her son.
“If you’re in jail, I will bake a cake with a file in it. If you need to dispose of a body, I will bring show up with a shovel and garbage bags.

It further read: “If you fly to the moon, I will be watching the skies for your re-entry. If you say you hate my guts, I’ll get new guts.
“Remember that love is a verb, not a noun. It’s not a thing, it’s not words, it is actions. Watch people’s actions to know if they love you — not their words.”
Roberta claimed she wrote the letter long before Brian killed Gabby and it was in no way related to the young woman’s death.
The letter, which was found among his belongings in his backpack, had the words “burn after reading” on it.

The heavy rain that started out of the blue left Linda, an elderly woman, soaking wet. In an attempt to find a shelter until the rain stopped, she got to the nearest café, a place known as one of the most exclusive in town. But just as she was about to enter, the manager, Simon, stopped her.
“Ma’am, I’m currently hosting over a hundred people inside. Let’s not waste our time here. I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” he told her.
Linda assured him she would order something, but he insisted that she leave the place.
With her clothes wet and her otherwise well-kept hair damp and all over her face, Linda left.
The following day, when Simon got to work, he noticed his boss sitting with someone who looked familiar. It was Linda, the woman Simon didn’t let in the previous day.
He approached the table and that’s when his boss said. “Simon, these are good friends of mine. They are buying the café.”
Simon was shocked.
The boss then said, “Simon is our manager. He’s kind, sensitive, and empathetic.”
Hearing this, Linda smiled and said, “I’m sure he is,” although she knew he wasn’t any of it when he kicked her out in the rain.
Once she purchased the place, Linda told Simon that if he wanted to remain part of the café, he needed to work as a waiter instead of a manager.
He wasn’t glad, but he knew that he deserved it for the way he treated Linda the day he first met her.
Some weeks passed by, and one day, an elderly lady entered the café. She ordered a cup of coffee and a small sandwich. However, when she was about to pay, she said she had forgotten her wallet at home.
Simon, who was her server that day, took the bill and said, “No worries. I’ll cover it.”
The woman asked him why he would do that, to what Simon replied, “Well, people should help each other out. Some time ago, the new owner of this restaurant gave me a second chance because she is a kind person. I want to be more like her.”
The woman smiled and said, “Young man, I’m sure you’ll get to be a manager again.”
Simon got confused. “How could she possibly know that I was a manager before.”
But then, Linda appeared in front of him. “Simon, this woman is my friend. Her visit was a little test to see if you’ve learned your lesson, and I’m glad you did. You are getting your managerial position back. Effective immediately.”
Simon was glad. He learned to never judge anyone based on their appearance.

When a woman’s persistent cough wouldn’t go away for over three months, she finally gathered the courage to visit a doctor, but sadly, she was denied access by the receptionist who advised her to visit the pharmacy instead.
Sibylle Schwarz, a mom of two from Germany who resides in the city of Leyland, Lancashire, UK, believed her coughing was a result of allergies. However, as the annoying cough was still present after over three months, she started suspecting that something more serious could be going on.
Sadly, Schwarz only learned that she had cancer after she had been turned away by the GP several times.
When she finally received her diagnosis, she was told she only had six months to a year to live.
The first time she tried to book an appointment with the doctor, the receptionist refused to do it and told her to grab some pills from the pharmacy instead, despite Schwartz’s explanation that she had a hard time swallowing food.
A month later, she returned to the doctor’s again.
“I went back to the GP in June and there was a different receptionist. But she also said to go to the pharmacy. I told her I really, really needed to see a doctor and she booked me in for an appointment. The GP talked to me a little bit and then agreed to send me to have an endoscopy, just to be sure,” she explained.
“She put me down on a waiting list and I got a call from that department two months later because I wasn’t listed as urgent.”
During the four months she was waiting for an appointment, Schwartz lost 25 kilos.
When she told the doctor she couldn’t swallow food, they didn’t believe her and only put her down for an endoscopy because of the weight she had lost.
Unfortunately, the results showed she had oesophageal cancer that was already in an advanced stage.
According to her, the doctor was sorry for being presumptuous and told her she only had months to live.
Schwartz received treatment right away. Besides the chemo, doctors were also able to remove a mass from her throat.
Today, two years after the devastating diagnosis of cancer and the dull prognosis that she only had six months to live, Schwartz is adjusting to life and says she feels fine.
She started eating again, although only small portions, and isn’t using a feeding tube any longer. She is trying to raise awareness about oesophageal cancer, urging people to “push a bit more.”
“You always have to be the bad patient and you always have to push. I was never that person. I always waited my turn. Of course, you have to be polite, but you have to push and advocate for yourself. And if I would have known that, then that might have led to me being diagnosed faster.
“I am very grateful to my surgeon. Even though she was pessimistic and not convinced that she could help, she did listen to me at the end and more importantly her skills and determination saved my life. I will never stop thanking her for that.”

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, just behind heart disease.
In women, breast cancer is the most common, while men are primarily affected by prostate cancer. However, lung cancer ranks second on the list of cancers that affect both men and women.
When it comes to lung cancer, or any cancer in general, catching it early is of crucial importance in the fight against it.
However, the symptoms of lung cancer are different in men and women.
When it comes to women, the most common type of lung cancer they are affected by is adenocarcinoma. What is typical of this type is that it is hard to be detected early because it spreads on the outer parts of the lungs. In most cases, it spreads quickly throughout the entire body.
In case the cancer progresses, the symptoms may include:
Persistent cough
Pain in chest, shoulders, and back
Increased mucus and a change in color
Shortness of breath
Hoarse voice
Harsh sound when breathing (medically referred to as stridor)
Coughing up mucus or phlegm tinged with blood
Coughing up blood
This type of lung cancer can likely affect lymph nodes, bones, brain, liver, and adrenal glands.
In men, the type of lung cancer that is most common is known as squamous cell carcinoma, or non-small cell lung cancer which develops in the central part of the lungs, near the main airway (bronchus).
When it comes to our health, there are plenty of things that we should consider. However, a well-balanced diet is one of the most important factors.
Heart surgeon Dr. Jeremy London, who’s very famous on TikTok with his valuable advice he shares with his followers, shared a video in which he highlighted four foods that are dangerous for our body.
As expected, he places fast food on the top of the list of foods that need to be avoided.
Dr. London labels fast food as “edible food product,” emphasizing the fact that they lack important nutritional value.
A 2017 article published by the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine notes that fast foods are high in calories and low in nutrients. They are loaded with various synthetic ingredients, chemicals, extra corn syrup, sugar, artificial sweeteners, salt, and coloring agents. All these can affect our health in a negative way.
Dr. London, who has almost 400,000 followers on his TikTok account, refers to soft drinks as to “liquid death.”
These drinks are full of sugars and their consumption can easily lead to obesity and diabetes.
The same goes for the diet sodas, which are expected to be a healthier option but are actually disrupting our metabolism and increasing the hunger.
The surgeon’s opinion about soft drinks is backed up by a number of research conducted over the years. A particular one, from the UCLA Health, highlights that even a single can of soda per day can increase the risk of developing type II diabetes.
Further, the heart surgeon lists milk products as type of foods that poison our bodies.
Humans are the only mammals who consume milk beyond infancy and consume the milk of other species.
Milk products are full of saturated fat, whose consumption is linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.
The website of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine states that “Studies have also linked dairy to an increased risk of breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers.”
Dr. London advises that we either limit or avoid milk products altogether.
According to Dr. London, alcohol is “absolutely toxic to every cell in our bodies.
“Even moderate or occasional use is in fact detrimental,” he says. “So if we are working so hard to optimize our health, the least you could do is stop actively poisoning your body.”
Instead, we should focus on diet that is rich in fruits and vegetables, and consume minimally processed foods such as beans and wholegrains.

The SpaseX owner once shared that his baby died in his arms and he felt its last hearbeat, adding, “I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame.”
This time, however, it’s Musk’s own father, Errol Musk, who opened up about the passing of his grandson, blaming Musk for not being the best dad.

In a podcast interview on the South African show Wide Awake, Errol Musk said, “The first child was too much with nannies and died in the care of a nanny.”
He added, “If Elon hears this, he’s gonna shoot me or something, but anyway, that’s what I think.”
He went on to criticize his son and his ex-daughter-in law, saying, “They were too rich, [had] too many nannies… then he had five children with the same woman – five sons, all brought up with their own nanny. You following me?”
Errol Musk then shared the setup the ex-couple agreed on following their separation, which Errol found bizarre. “When they got divorced, the nannies were six on this side and six on that side. So it was a really weird situation.”
Wilson, Musk’s ex, also opened up about the son’s passing. In an essay penned for Marie Claire, she wrote, “Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing. By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead.
“He spent three days on life support in a hospital in Orange County before we made the decision to take him off it. I held him in my arms when he died.”

Recently, however, author Ashley St. Clair claimed she had given birth to Musk’s child, which would make it his 13th.
“I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause,” she said.
“I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment.”

President Donald Trump welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the White House, and one thing that caught the attention of many – captured in the pictures from the meeting between the two officials – left people stunned.
The truth is that the newly-elected president, who’s serving his second term, never fails to baffle the public. This time, however, he truly outdid himself.
Namely, the pictures from the meeting with Modi show Trump’s mugshot, the one from the New York Post front-page story, hanging on the wall just outside the Oval Office.

The mugshot was released last year following Trump’s conviction for falsifying business records over a hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. He was photographed at Fulton County jail in August 2023 after surrendering on charges related to an alleged plot to overturn the 2020 election, with a $200,000 bail and a claim of innocence.
While many would do everything in their power to keep their mugshot from ever seeing the light of day, Trump used it during his political campaign. He even sold merchandize, such as T-shirts, mugs, and bumper stickers, with it on it with the words “Never Surrender!”

President Donald Trump and SpaceX owner Elon Musk held a high-profile press conference in the Oval Office, but it was Musk’s 4-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii – who goes by X – who stole the show.
Before the press conference, Trump introduced those present at the White House to the toddler, saying, “This is X, and he’s a great guy. High IQ. High-IQ individual.”
X, however, being just a kid, didn’t understand the importance of the event he attended together with his dad and got engaged in some kid “activities” such as digging through his nose.
What caught the attention of many, and was re-shared in a clip that has since gone viral, is that the boy allegedly tells Trump, “You’re not the President and you need to go away,” according to the writing of @RightWingCope.

Other clips of Musk’s 4-year-old son show the boy reportedly saying to Trump, “I want you to shut your mouth.”
However, while many claim these are the words the boy utters, the truth is that his comment is nearly indecipherable, as he speaks quietly while his father is talking at the same time.
But no matter what he said, it was likely something the president didn’t like as he was seen turning his head away from the boy.
As expected, the moment triggered plenty of comments, debates, and meme-ing.

Not only that, but X was also mimicking his father at one point. Musk then lifted him up on his shoulders and apologized. “Sorry for this,” the tech billionaire said with a laugh. “Otherwise, I might enjoy this, but as he’s sticking his fingers in my ears and stuff.”
During the press conference, Musk detailed a new executive order aimed at cutting the federal workforce.

King Charles has been through a lot in recent years. From Harry and Meghan stepping down from their royal duties and the ongoing feud with them, to Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis and his own cancer battle, the King has faced an array of challenges.
While his battle with cancer is ongoing, his return to royal duties and even plans for overseas visits speak volumes about his improved health.
Although the Palace hasn’t revealed the exact type of cancer the king was diagnosed with, Laura Lee, chief executive of the cancer support charity Maggie’s–which Queen Camilla is president of, said many cancer treatments take a lot of time.

“It’s very common for treatment to be ongoing for very long periods of time, as is the treatment that the Princess of Wales went through, which is an intense period of treatment over a year, and then it comes to a point where it’s on an end, and she’s on that recovery from some of the impacts of her treatment,” Lee told Sky News.
“So we’ve got immunotherapy, chemotherapy, surgery, hormone therapy. There are all sorts of different treatment modalities. And so it’s not surprising at all.”
She continued: “What we’ve heard from our centre visitors, it’s been good that they haven’t just shone a light on one specific cancer type, but they’ve shone a light on cancer as a whole, and that there’s varying treatment and varying impacts and varying different ways of navigating the challenges that cancer bring. And I think that approach has been much more effective and positive for the cancer community. I know firsthand that everyone is so grateful to them for doing that.”

According to the Palace, the King and Queen are planning a royal visit to Italy in April where they will meet Pope Francis. Further, the visit will be “celebrating the strong bilateral relationship between Italy and the United Kingdom,” as per the Palace.
In the past, King Charles had visited Italy 17 times, but this would be his first as the head of the monarchy.
However, no matter how much the public is looking forward to seeing the King taking more royal duties, royal expert Daniela Elser believes that his cancer diagnosis is still giving the Palace a headache.
Elser made a comparison between two photos of the King taken at a time difference of four years. One taken recently, and the other one in 2020, in Jerusalem, Israel. She wrote the photos showed the “unmistakable” difference in King Charles’ appearance, which is “painfully hard to ignore.”

“The King might have been all smiles at church in late January, but Buckingham Palace is today facing down a previously unheard of, never-considered royal scenario — how to keep Crown Inc going in the time of an aging, cancer-battling monarch who is increasingly rattling around the Palace, stranded and with fewer than ever people to call on.
“As [King Charles] ages and as he battles cancer, he has only very few working members of the royal family left he can rely on and delegate to in order to help him shoulder the load,” Elser added.
The good thing is that despite his cancer, King Charles is staying positive.
