Mom rushes her kid to the hospital after he arrives home with a red mark on his face

Young children can get into trouble easily, especially when they have siblings whom they tend to fight and disagree with.

An Idaho boy named Coop went home crying one day claiming his brother hit him in the nose. His parents, Arden and Ashlee Hawley, noticed he had a red mark on the nose and his cheeks and it certainly didn’t look like he had been hit. The mark was sort of strange and that raised a red flag. In order to be sure it wasn’t anything serious, they took him to the doctor’s who prescribed him steroids.

However, as the red mark spread, they became even more suspicious and took him to the ER. There, medics ran tests and they determined Coop contracted a streptococcal bacteria in his sinuses.

It is a common belief that this bacteria is only found in person’s throat, but that’s not true as it affects other parts as well.

There are many different types of this bacteria, each of which with different manifestation.

Luckily for Coop, his parents reacted just in time. He has been given proper medication and is currently recovering. It the infection wasn’t diagnosed on time, it could have easily affect his eyes and brain.

Another mom posted a similar story about her son who contracted the flu. Since the country is experiencing severe flu outbreak, parents need to be more cautious about their children and notice the symptoms on time.

This mom, Candace Reeves McMahan, who posted on the Facebook page Simply Real Moms, wrote of her son, “He was looking awful, and I noticed odd red markings on his face. By that evening, my child had a blotchy rash all over him. I secretly hoped that he was only experiencing a fever rash so that I could put him to bed.”

The following day, his body temperature got really high and there were red marks all over his face. He experienced rash and his mom took him to hospital. They were told he had contracted strep infection in his throat.

According to the doctor, facial marks and rash are frequent symptoms of this bacteria. The mother wrote, “I had no idea, and it seems that no one I’ve informed in the previous two days does either. I felt obligated to alert other parents of these apparent signs that their child has strep throat.”

Sadly, the infection spread to his eyes and he needed to undergo a surgery but he recovered.

“He nearly seems normal, and he looks like his old self again! I can’t thank everyone enough,” Candace wrote. “I believe in the power of prayer.”

She now wants to warn other parents of the symptoms of strep in order for something her son experienced to be avoided.

“Please share the pictures of Luke’s eyes with me, please. This might have been avoided, she said, if the diagnosis had been made earlier.”

Journalist Katie Couric reveals her breast cancer diagnosis – “I felt sick and the room started to spin”

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women in the United States. As of 2021, it accounts for 12% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide.

Just recently, journalist Katie Couric opened up about her diagnosis in an attempt to help raise awareness among women to get checked regularly.

Couric took to Instagram to share with her fans details of her health. Along with a photo of herself in a hospital gown and with a mask on her face, she wrote, “Every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. On June 21st, I became one of them

“As we approach #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, I wanted to share my personal story with you all and encourage you to get screened and understand that you may fall into a category of women who needs more than a mammogram.”

Shutterstock

The 65-year-old journalist explained that she missed her 2020 mammogram and her doctor told her to have her check-up the subsequent year. She’s now recording her experience “in a PG way.”

The results which came with the check-up concerned her doctor who ordered a biopsy. Soon after, she was delivered the news that she had breast cancer.

“I felt sick and the room started to spin. I was in the middle of an open office, so I walked to a corner and spoke quietly, my mouth unable to keep up with the questions swirling in my head,” she recalled.

Shutterstock

Sadly, her husband Jay Monahan passed away of colon cancer back in 1998 and most of her family members, including her parents, her sister, and her mother-in-law, have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life.

She then accepted and faced the reality. “My mood quickly shifted from disbelief to resignation,” she recalled. “Given my family’s history of cancer, why would I be spared? My reaction went from, ‘Why me?’ to ‘Why not me?’”

The good thing was that she received the diagnosis at an early stage and had underwent a procedure known as “breast conservation” or “lumpectomy.”

Once her olive-sized tumor was removed, she was prescribed medications she needs to take for five years. Luckily, as it was discovered early, she won’t be undergoing chemo treatments.

Couric’s story is yet another proof of the importance of regular check-ups and screenings and when someone as influential as her is sharing their life experience it helps raise awareness. One thing is certain. People need to be more proactive about their health.

“I can’t tell you how many times during this experience I thanked God that it was 2022. And how many times I silently thanked all the dedicated scientists who have been working their a**es off to develop better ways to analyze and treat breast cancer,” she wrote on her website. “But to reap the benefits of modern medicine, we need to stay on top of our screenings, advocate for ourselves, and make sure everyone has access to the diagnostic tools that could very well save their life,” she concluded.

We wish Katie Couric good health.

Girl calls her ‘awkward’ dad to the dance floor, and then he steals the show

There’s something about every father-daughter relationship that reminds us that no other bond is purer or stronger. Little girls are their fathers’ princesses and the fathers are the everyday heroes who are there no matter how rough things get.

Mike Hanley and his wife Beth were blessed with three stunning daughters, and that’s three times the happiness of experiencing the love only girls can give to their daddies. On the day of Jessica Hanley’s bat mitzvah, she and her dad prepared an incredible dancing performance for the guests. No one really expected to see such a show. The dancing started with the perfect song, “My Girl” by The Temptations. They couldn’t choose a more fitting tune for that first dance, don’t you think so?

Once the music started, the real surprise unfolded before the guests’ eyes. As they started singing along, the song changed all of a sudden, and Mike pretending to be surprised by that switch is priceless. Instead of taking it slowly, this father-daughter duo hit the floor once Whitney Houston’s “Do You Wanna Dance?” filled the air.

Jessica is one hell of a dancer herself. She choreographed a well-prepared dancing routine using a mashup of some of the greatest hits such as Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5,” LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back,” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.” The dance ended with the first song, “My Girl.” Needless to say, everyone enjoyed watching the girl’s amazing performance.

Mike did the same thing for his other daughter Isabelle, two years later, but this time they chose different music and bragged with their rapping skills.

Mike is a stand-up comedian who performed in various comedy clubs, malls, department stores, and even at a hospital psychiatric ward. However, after his first daughter was born, he took a break from his career and devoted all his time to raising his daughters. But back in 2011, he got back to comedy and is entertaining people from all over the country. He’s got all the support from his ladies who are always his number one priority.

This dancing choreography is definitely something you don’t want to miss.

Alan Alda stays positive, despite his diagnosis

Best known for the role of Captain Benjamin “Hawkeye” Pierce in the war comedy-drama television series M*A*S*H, actor Alan Alda, 86, is a six-time Emmy award winner whose career as an actor, screenwriter, and director spans almost seven decades.

Back in 2018, Alda opened up about his health and revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This news was devastating to say the least, but Alda never let the diagnosis affect the person he has always been.

According to Alda, in order to keep the symptoms at bay, he relies on exercises and a lot of movement.

Among the rest, he revealed he’s been taking boxing lessons three times a day.

In an 2020 interview with Good Morning America, Alda spoke of the symptoms he had experienced before he urged himself to visit a doctor.

“In 2015, I read an article in the New York Times by Jane Brody, in which a couple of doctors said some of their Parkinson’s patients had one particular early symptom, and it’s an unusual one: People act out their dreams while they’re asleep. I realised I had done just that,” he said.

“I had dreamed somebody was attacking me, and in the dream I threw a sack of potatoes at him. In reality, I threw a pillow at my wife.”

“So, believing there was a good chance I had Parkinson’s, I went to a neurologist and asked for a brain scan.

“He examined me and said, ‘I don’t think you need a scan. You don’t have any symptoms.’ I said, ‘Well, I’d really like the scan anyway.’ And he called me back and said, ‘Boy, you really got it.’”

Alda believes it is very important for people not to get depressed upon hearing the diagnosis. Although they don’t know what the future holds and how fast the disease would progress, they need to find a motivation to keep strong.

“To live a normal life, you must adapt. It has to be solved like a puzzle. I like to solve problems,” this proclaimed actor says.

He always chooses to stay optimistic and does all in his power to raise awareness about Parkinson’s and teach the wide public how much has been done in the fight against this disease throughout the years.

Camilla left ‘hurt and upset’ over Harry and Meghan’s treatment of King Charles

The Palace has confirmed May 6, 2023, to be the date when King Charles’ becomes King of Britain. The coronation, which is given the code-name “Operation Golden Orb,” is set to take place in Westminster Abbey.

The statement regarding this special event Britain hasn’t seen since June 2, 1953, when Queen Elizabeth became the head of monarchy, states that King Charles’ coronation “will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”

Further, the statement reads that “The Coronation is a solemn religious service, together with an occasion for celebration and pageantry.”

It was reported that the initial date of the ceremony was planned to be June 3, a day after what would have marked the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation, but May 6 is as significant, at least for the Sussexes, who celebrate Archie’s birthday on that day.

It has not yet been revealed who exactly will be invited to the coronation, although reports are that King Charles is planning on limiting the number of guests to 2,000. It has also been reported that the ceremony would only last for an hour. Charles will receive the orb and scepter as symbols of his new role as monarch. Then, the Archbishop of Canterbury will place a solid gold crown on his head.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl believes that Harry and Meghan will be asked to attend the coronation. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she said that King Charles and Camilla would want them in attendance.

“Behind the scenes, Camilla has done really everything she can to try and bring this family back together, and press the importance of trying to move on from this rift, and I think she would be very pleased, as would the king for Harry and Meghan to be at the coronation,” she said.

“It remains to be seen whether or not they attend. But of course, it will be down to the Sussexes to make the ultimate decision as to whether they’re going to come over for King Charles’ coronation on May 6.”

When Princess Diana died, William and Harry were heartbroken, so it didn’t come as a surprise they weren’t happy when they learned their father had another woman in his life.

When Harry met Camilla for the first time, the meeting was “awkward and tense.”

“I think the relationship between them all is warm now but if I’m honest, it wasn’t then. I think they found it hard,” a palace source told royal biographer Penny Junor, author of Prince William: Born to be King.

“To be fair to Camilla, she never tried to be mummy but she was the ‘other woman’ and she was there and taking daddy’s time.”

Another royal author also claimed that initially, Harry wasn’t pleased to be in Camilla’s company.

“When the younger boy was eventually prevailed upon to be in the presence of Mrs Parker Bowles, he unnerved her with long silences and smouldering, resentful stares,” Tina Brown quoted a source saying in her book The Palace Papers.

Rumors were Harry didn’t accept the idea of Camilla becoming Queen Consort, although it was his grandmother’s wish.

“William has accepted Camilla in terms of what she means to his father. He’s been grown-up about it. “My father loves this woman, I can’t fight it, so I won’t,” Brown told The Telegraph.

“Harry, on the other hand, can’t stand Camilla, he doesn’t want Camilla to be Queen, he’s very angry that it’s happening. He has not made his peace with it and he probably never will.”

Shutterstock

The relationship between the Queen Consort and Prince Harry became even rockier with his departure from the Firm back in 2020, when he and Meghan left Britain and settled down in the States.

“I think she’s very cautious. She doesn’t try to push herself towards them. She gets very upset when they hurt King Charles, she was very sorry for him,” author Angela Levin said of Camilla.

“But she understands how parents can love their children but absolutely dislike what they’re doing.”

When Meghan became part of the royal family, Camilla did all in her power to make her feel welcome. She invited her to lunches, but Meghan wasn’t very interested, according to Levin.

“She tried to be supportive, was happy to be her mentor, and took her out for private lunches.

“A source at the time told me: ‘She doesn’t want to see anyone struggling, and she is fond of Meghan.’ Meghan, however, seemed bored, was unresponsive and preferred to go her own way, with the result that the Queen Consort’s advice landed on stony ground,” Levine wrote in her book.

“The Duchess always felt quite wary of Harry and used to see him out of the corner of her eye looking at her in a long and cold way,” she added. “She found it rather unnerving. Otherwise, they got on quite well.”

We are yet to see what future hold for Harry and Meghan when it comes to their relationship with the rest of the royal family.

She got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.

During her acceptance speech at the 2007 Emmy Awards, when she won for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Field, who is a mother of three, said, “If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no goddamn wars in the first place.”

Field was married two times in her life. She tied the knot with her first husband, Steven Craig, in 1968. They separated five years later, but their divorce wasn’t finalized until 1975. From that marriage, Field has sons Peter Craig, a novelist and a screenwriter, and Eli Craig, an actor and director best known for directing the cult horror comedy film Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

In 1976, Field started dating Burt Reynolds. During the time they were together, they starred in four different films alongside one another, Smokey and the BanditSmokey and the Bandit IIThe End, and Hooper. They called it quits but were on-again off-again until 1982.

Cause of death revealed for California 16-year-old Kiely Rodni

Kiely Rodni, a 16-year-old girl from California, attended a party near Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California on August 6 when she suddenly disappeared and was nowhere to be found.

Her family filed a missing person report and an extensive search was undertaken but to no avail. Then, weeks later, Adventures with Purpose, an independent group of divers, found a car and a body, which were later determined to be Kiely’s.

According to her friends, she spent most of the time with them before she decided to spend the night at the Prosser Family Campground.

“I know that she wasn’t in the right mindset or state to drive. And if she were to have driven, she wouldn’t have made it far,” one of Kiely’s friends, Sami Smith told CBS Sacramento.

Initially, the police investigated Kiely’s disappearance as abduction.

However, when her body was discovered, it was determined there were no signs of violence and a coroner ruled her death accidental. Kiely died of drowning.

“This ruling is based on the pathologist’s finding that her death was the result of drowning and that there was no other information to suggest she was the victim of foul play,” the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, as per KTXL.

According to The U.S Sun, Kiely’s body was cremated and there was no official funeral but a memorial.

Her friends described Kiely as a happy, vibrant, and a wonderful human being. She was an excellent listener always ready to lend a helping hand.

The family didn’t want to give any comments as they said they have already shared so much and wanted to keep some decisions private.

Allegedly, on the night she drowned, Kiely was intoxicated.

Rest in peace, Kiley.

Mom reveals why she is sharing her daughter’s last moments on Facebook

Zoey Catherine Daggett was born as a perfectly healthy child. Her vibrant personality made everyone love her, and her smiling face would always trigger even more smiles at people who ever met her.

This incredible little girl didn’t lose any of her energetic spirit even during the worst times of her short life. One day, as the family was at a playground in Fairport, New York, Zoey fell. Suddenly, she experienced difficulties walking and started limping. Her mom and dad, Casey and Ben, rushed her to the hospital as they both assumed she had a fracture. Unfortunately, they received the worst news any parent could ever hear. Zoey had DIPG, a rare and aggressive brain tumor which wasn’t operable.

Doctors told her parents that children suffering from this type of tumor are given between 6 to 18 months to live.

”We didn’t know what to do, where to go. We were told it’s pretty much a death sentence,” mother Casey told Daily Mail.

Despite the pain that filled their hearts, Ben and Casey decided to make their daughter’s last days fun. They spent every minute of every day by her side because they were aware she won’t be around much longer.

Zoey was forced to undergo a number of treatments. When the family learned of a hospital in Germany which offers radiation to people with DIPG, they took her there. The money needed were raised in no time, and Zoey seemed to respond good to the therapy. But then, all of a sudden, she started feeling even worse than before.

The beautiful little girl which brought so much joy in so many lives passed away on July 4, 2018.

Mom Casey decided to share plenty of photos of her daughter on her Facebook page. She had seen other people who lost children do that, and although she believed she should keep those memories for herself, she still decided to share her daughter’s story.

“I shared it because even though it’s a painful moment, it’s a beautiful moment in our eyes,” Casey told Daily Mail. ”I had seen a handful of families sharing moments and originally I didn’t think I was going to share it. ‘But I thought: “I want a photo like that taken”. I want those moments captured so I can remember them forever even when my brain is gone.”

The photo Casey posted shows mom and dad with their arms around their precious daughter.

They spent that last day singing Disney songs and watching Harry Potter movies. But then, in the middle of the film, Zoey’s little heart stopped beating.

Source: Zoeys Light / Facebook

The family started the Facebook page Zoey’s Light because they wanted to spread the love, hope, and light Zoey gave to everyone who was part of her life.

Life can be cruel sometimes, and there is nothing worse than a parent losing a child. We hope the family stays strong because we know that no matter how much time passes by, the pain will never fade away.
