Lonely mom is praying over sick baby in crib when a man walks up to her doorstep

Most times, when we least expect it God answers our prayers and reminds us yet again that miracles do happen.

When one doctor got lost on a lonely rode and decided to approach a nearby home and ask for directions, he never assumed he would turn into an instrument of God.

As she heard the doctor say, “My dear. There is nothing more we can do for Jimmy here. You need to take him to a specialist,” Sandy Carpenter could feel the tears running down her cheeks.

“I can write you a recommendation to three doctors — they are the only ones in the country who could help him — but you’ll have to take Jimmy to them. Boston, or New York, or Atlanta.”

But Sandy was shaking her head. “I can’t do that doctor. My mother is in a bad way, and I just don’t have the money. God will have to send the specialist to Jimmy.” Sandy’s doctor shook his head sadly. Without a specialist, there was no hope for Jimmy…

Dr. Desmond Morris couldn’t believe it! At this moment he should be relaxing in his New York hotel, sipping a drink and talking to some of his colleagues, not stuck in some hick town airport in the middle of nowhere.

Desmond had left Los Angeles where he’d been vacationing with his family to attend a special ceremony in New York City where he was to be the guest speaker and receive an award for his achievement in pediatric research, but something had gone drastically wrong.

Halfway to New York, the plane had developed engine problems and was forced to make an emergency landing at a small airport. The captain and the crew were apologetic and promised there would be a plane to take them on to New York the next day.

In the meantime, the passengers were to be housed in a local motel, two to a room. Desmond had taken one look at the motel and gone back to the airport where he rented a car.

His plan was to drive the four hours to the closest middling-sized city and catch a short flight to New York. He wasn’t going to miss his own award ceremony! The car the rental company gave Desmond wasn’t exactly a luxury sedan, but it would have to do.

As he got in, the man who’d rented him the car said, “Listen, mister, if I were you, I’d wait up. There’s bad weather coming.”

Desmond looked at the clear blue sky and smiled. “I’m sure I’ll be fine,” he said breezily and drove off. An hour later, Desmond was cursing the rental man and the airline and the rain that poured down in a thick impenetrable curtain.

He couldn’t see where he was going, but he was sure he was going the wrong way. There was no sign of the lights of the small towns which should be on the horizon, and the GPS kept urging him on.

Finally, he glimpsed a light through the relentless rain. It was a small house with a tin roof, and as Desmond came closer, he saw that it was desperately in need of repairs.

He hoped the inhabitants would be kind enough to give him something hot to eat and point him in the right direction. He got out of the car, made a mad dash for the stoop, and knocked on the rickety door.

Sandy had just put Jimmy down to sleep and was about to set dinner on the table when there was a knock on the door. “Lord Almighty!” Sandy cried to her mother Helen. “Who can it be at this hour, in the middle of this storm!”

Wiping her hands on her apron, Sandy hurried to the front of the house and opened the door. There in the doorway stood a small round man in his early forties looking very wet and bedraggled.

“Please,” he gasped, “I’ve been driving around in the rain all afternoon, I’m lost and I’m freezing…”

“Well, come on in!” Sandy said immediately. “I’ll get you a towel and a blanket and some hot stew, and you’ll be right as rain in no time!”

Sandy ushered Desmond in to the small, cozy kitchen and introduced him to her mother Helen, who had suffered a stroke a few years before, and was unfortunately confined to a wheelchair.

“Good evening,” Desmond said, as he dried his hair in the towel Sandy had given him. “I’m sorry to impose on you all like this…” But Helen just smiled and nodded.

Sandy explained, “Mama hasn’t talked since her stroke, but she understands everything!” Even as she spoke, Sandy was busy stirring the stew and ladling generous portions into big bowls.

“Sit!” Sandy said. “And we’ll all say grace. We have something special to pray for tonight…”

Desmond shook his head. “I’m afraid I don’t pray, Ma’am, no disrespect intended,” he said. “I believe in science, not in God.”

Helen gabbled softly and nodded, and Sandy said, “It doesn’t matter if you believe in God, God believes in you, Mama says.”

Desmond found himself flushing with embarrassment. He felt he was being ungracious to these simple people who had taken him in. “I’ll be happy to join you in saying grace,” he said. “But what exactly are you praying for?”

Sandy said quietly, “My baby Jimmy is very sick, and the doctors here and in the state capital can’t help him. They said I have to take him to Boston, or Atlanta, or New York? But I just can’t go!

“I can’t leave mama on her own and I don’t have insurance. I can’t afford the trip or them hotels or any of that. So I’ve been praying to God to send me the specialist my Jimmy needs.”

Desmond hid a smile. “Right here to the house?” he asked.

“Well, the Lord knows where that doctor is, and he knows where Jimmy is — so I guess that would be fine!” Sandy said.

Desmond was about to laugh when a strange thought occurred to him. “What’s wrong with your baby? What doctors were you supposed to see?”

“My Jimmy was born with a liver dysfunction, I don’t understand how it works exactly, but I have it written down…” Sandy said and got the paper from the drawer.

Desmond read the diagnosis and he turned pale. “Do you remember the name of the specialists your doctor recommended?” he asked in a whisper.

“I surely do!” said Sandy “It was Dr. Terence Farrow, Dr. Kyla Shepherd, and Dr. Desmond Morris!”

To Sandy’s surprise, Desmond got to his feet, tears streaming down his face. “I’m Dr. Desmond Morris, and I’m here by God’s hand to help your baby!”

After Desmond had examined Jimmy and made several phone calls that would see the whole family transported to Atlanta for the duration of the baby’s treatment, he made a strange request.

“Sandy,” he said quietly. “Will you teach me how to pray?”

“There’s nothing to it, “Sandy said gently. “You just open your heart and speak to God, that’s all.”

In that small kitchen in the middle of nowhere, Dr. Desmond Morris fell to his knees and said, “God forgive me all these years of pride and arrogance, I know now that I am but a tool in your hands. Use me as you will.”

What is the moral of this story?

Whether we believe in God or not, we are all part of His plan. Desmond didn’t believe in God, and yet he found himself an answer to a prayer.
Faith and the power of prayer can move mountains. Sandy’s faith brought the specialist she needed to save her son’s life to her doorstep.

Husband in bed urged by wife to investigate mysterious 3 am knock at front door

Imagine someone knocking on your door in the middle of the night. Would you consider checking out who the person might be or you would be too scared to do that?

Well, a couple heard a loud banging on their door at 3 am while they were both sound asleep. Confused, but curious to learn who was at the door, the woman urged the husband to get out of the bed and see what was going on.

A man is in bed with his wife when there is a rat-a-tat-tat on the door.

He rolls over and looks at his clock, and it’s half past three in the morning.

“I’m not getting out of bed at this time,” he thinks and rolls over.

Then, a louder knock follows.

“Aren’t you going to answer that?” says his wife. So he drags himself out of bed and goes downstairs.

He opens the door and there is a man standing at the door.

It didn’t take the homeowner long to realize the man was drunk.

“Hi there,” slurs the stranger. “Can you give me a push??”

“No, get lost. It’s half-past three. I was in bed,” says the man and slams the door.

He goes back up to the bed and tells his wife what happened and she says,“Dave, that wasn’t very nice of you. Remember that night we broke down in the pouring rain on the way to pick the kids up from the babysitter and you had to knock on that man’s house to get us started again? What would have happened if he’d told us to get lost??”

“But the guy was drunk,” says the husband.

“It doesn’t matter,” says the wife.

“He needs our help and it would be the right thing to help him.”

So the husband gets out of bed again, gets dressed and goes downstairs. He opens the door, and not being able to see the stranger anywhere he shouts, “Hey, do you still want a push??”

And he hears a voice cry out, “Yeah, please.”

So, still being unable to see the stranger he shouts, “Where are you?”

And the stranger replies, “I’m over here, on your swing.”

Kate Middleton wears historic tiara once used by the Queen Mother – and it carries a hidden message

Being part of the royalty means attending plenty of events and living a lavish lifestyle. For the numerous occasions during which they represent the country, or any public event they are part of, royals are always seen wearing fabulous outfits.

The most accurate representation of this is the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton. Known for her incredible personality and her brilliant style, Kate has become sort of a fashion icon.

One thing about her that many love is that her personal style is often casual and despite being a future Queen, she is often seen wearing clothes anyone can afford, such as piece from Zara.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Bethan Holt described Kate’s style as effortless, something both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana symbolized, and that makes her relatable to the people.

“Part of the appeal of Kate – and the royal family was obviously very conscious of this – is that she’s not a blue-blooded princess. I just love that her surname is Middleton – you know, like middle class. It couldn’t be more perfect,” Holt said.

“Her wearing high-street is a way for her to consistently remind people of that, and to show that she is one of us,” she added.

“There’s no better way than saying, hey, you can buy the same Zara jeans I’m wearing right now for £30. She’s had a lot of those [relatable] experiences. She went on a gap year, and she was a girl about town just after university. We saw those pictures of her having a job, and I think lots of women can relate to those things. She’s talked about mum guilt as well, and about the box sets they watch and what takeaway they get.”

Holt, as well as other fashion experts, believe that Kate’s choice of outfits sends different messages to specific groups.

When Meghan and Harry were still residing in Britain and were attending royal events along the rest of the members of the Firm, Kate could be spotted wearing beige on several occasions. At the same time, late Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle wore outfits in the same color and according to royal experts this wasn’t a coincidence.

Royal expert Elizabeth Holmes believes it was a representation of togetherness despite the troublesome times the family was going through.

“To have them in the same shade, I took very much to be a sign of unity,” Holmes said. “And then of course, [The Queen] issued her statement of support to the Sussexes on January 13. Kate in brown on Monday morning was interesting, too, after she had been roped into the coverage.”

“Kate wore two pieces of brown: a khaki coat and a brown turtleneck—both of which were very visible in the shoulders-up shot of her driving the kids to school. It could be a coincidence but I think perhaps not!”

One time, while visiting medical colleges working in maternal healthcare alongside Princess Anne, Kate wore a cream dress with laces in the shape of pineapples.

As per The New York Times, “Pineapples have become a powerful symbol for women struggling with infertility. The fruit appears in the profile photos and Facebook feeds of women in online infertility communities.”

They continued, “They are most widely known as a symbol of hospitality and welcoming. But on social media, pineapples are inextricably tied to infertility. On Instagram, the hashtag #PineappleTribe aims to connect women going through IVF.”

The Royal Insta Blog also wrote about the princess’ choice of wearing a pineapple: “Displaying or wearing the pineapple can represent a non-verbal communication of an enormous life event in common or be an active out loud shout of support to raise awareness and funding for the issue of infertility,” it read, as quoted by Hello.

When she wears a particular color, it sometimes comes with a message. With her pink outfits, Kate tends to send the message that she’s fun.

“According to color psychology, which the royals do pay attention to, pink is fun, feminine, flirty and romantic,” fashion expert Samantha Harman said. “Kate wants the public to know that she’s fun and kind, and while some might already think that about her, the pink outfits are showing that she’s letting loose a little bit.”

Royal fashion expert Miranda Holder says, “Every style decision, especially what it comes to Kate’s wardrobe, is absolutely considered and deliberate down to the color she wears.

“[She is] just embracing this color, being fashionable at the moment and enjoying herself.”

Recently, Kate and William joined other royal family members at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace. The event, where the royals and 170 guests were properly dressed, was a part of the state visit for the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and First Lady Kim Keon Hee.

For the occasion, Kate wore the Strathmore Rose tiara, which the Queen Mother last wore in the 1930s. This unique piece of jewelry which hasn’t been worn for over eight decades appears to have a hidden message behind it.

Lauren Kiehna from the Court Jeweler told People magazine that by wearing this tiara Kate wanted to demonstrate her connection to late Queen Mother who was like a mother to King Charles once his mother took the throne.

“Kate has always signalled that she’d like to emulate the Queen Mother’s royal role and wearing her jewels is an important symbol of that continuity,” Kiehna said. “It’s fitting that Kate — likely with some assistance from King Charles — would choose to wear the tiara exactly a hundred years after the Queen Mother originally received it.”

Charles was extremely closed to the Queen Mother and she largely influenced his love for music, nature and arts. Speaking of this bond, Roberta Fiorito, co-host of the Royally Obsessed podcast, said, “It seems like he felt that the Queen and Prince Philip were a little bit absent from his childhood, but he did have someone who really indulged his artistic side in the Queen Mother. She was really supportive of all that and we know now how that played out: he recites Shakespeare on the fly and loves painting and watercolours. So I think that came from her.”

Kate has always been dressed impeccably and looks fabulous whatever she opts to wear.

Doctor was shocked when he listened to the man’s leg

Doctors deal with a huge number of patients on a daily basis so we assume they don;t have it easy.

One day, a man entered the doctor’s office and had a rather strange request. He asked from the doctor to hear what his leg had to say. The doctor has never heard anything like that before but he went on to fulfill his patient’s request.

Read the ending of the joke below.

A man went to the doctor…

He said, “Doc, you gotta check my leg. Something’s wrong. Just put your ear up to my thigh, you’ll hear it!”

The doctor cautiously placed his ear to the man’s thigh only to hear, “Gimme 20 bucks, I really need 20 bucks.”

“I’ve never seen or heard anything like this before, how long has this been going on?” The doctor asked.

“That’s nothing Doc. Put your ear to my knee.”

The doctor put his ear to the man’s knee and heard it say, “Man, I really need 10 bucks, just lend me 10 bucks!!”

“Sir, I really don’t know what to tell you. I’ve never seen anything like this.” The doctor was dumbfounded.

“Wait Doc, that’s not it. There’s more, just put your ear up to my ankle,” the man urged him.

The doctor did as the man said and was blown away to hear his ankle plead, “Please, I just need 5 bucks. Lend me 5 bucks please if you can.”

“I have no idea what to tell you,” the doctor said. “There’s nothing about it in my books,” he said as he frantically searched all his medical reference books.

“I can make a well-educated guess though. Based on life and all my previous experience I can tell you that,…”

These parents have strong feelings about their daughter staying up late to read

As parents, we tend to raise our children at the best of our abilities no matter the sacrifice it takes. When we see them thrive and turn into respected individuals it feels like a dream come true.

However, when they are still young, most children are difficult to handle. They throw tantrums, do what they please, and rarely agree with their parents.

Parents on the other hand try really hard to form strong bonds and get along with their children, but no matter what they do, they are sometimes judged for their parenting style.

The McNees are a wonderful family who have an 8-year-old daughter in love with reading.

Of course, they love the fact their girl is an enthusiastic reader, but they make the entire experience of reading even more exciting because she believes she acts as a little rebel when she reads past her bad time.

The girl hides under the covers with her flashlight to read Harry Potter books.

Well, although she reads as an act of ‘rebellion’ and stays up late, her mom and dad are fully supportive and they even make sure that her flashlights always have fresh batteries.

Once the McNees shared this cute story there were people out there who suggested they should buy their daughter a headlamp. The parents explained they did buy her one, but she still preferred her flashlights.

Reading under the covers is an experience we all remember from our childhood, right?

Adam and Eve were the first people to grace the Earth but that doesn’t spare them from people making jokes about them.

I made my elderly parents choose between living in my garage and a nursing home

When parents get old and fragile, it is usually their children who take care of them or they are placed withing nursing facilities.

A woman shared the story of her parents expressing the wish to move in with her after her children formed families on their own and left their mom’s home.

The woman, who posted her story on Reddit and wanted to know if she was in the right or not, explained that she was more than happy to provide her elderly grandparents with a place to stay, but not in the main house.

Namely, she wrote that she owns a five-bedroom home, but ever since her children moved out, she only uses two of the while the rest are turned into an office and places for her hobby activities.

At the same time, she turned her garage into a guest house for her children, but informed them that it would be their grandparents who would be living there. The woman’s children were fine with that and were even glad their grandparents would be close to their mom.

The guest house was fully equipped with appliances and had its own kitchen and bathroom.

However, when the woman’s parents arrived at her place and learned they wouldn’t be moving into the main house, they got mad.

“They thought they could move into my house since I have five bedrooms,” the woman wrote.

The parents were far from happy.

“They said that they wanted to live in the house, not out in the garage like Fonzie.”

The woman, however, told them their either move into the guest house or into a nursing home.

Reddit users sided with the woman, writing that her parents should have been happy she welcomed them to live near her rent free instead of complaining.

One person wrote that a friend of theirs also welcomed their parents into their garage-turned-guest house but they were far more appreciative.

My brother thinks I’m free babysitter to his 3 kids, constantly ruins my plans

Family matters get nasty at times, and the reasons for that are various. The truth is that not every family is the same, and sometimes, the members of a family simply don’t get along.

Namely, the woman explained that her brother was a father of three, one five-year-old and three-year-old twins.

Whenever he needed his kids to be babysat, he would call his sister to let her know he was dropping the kids off at her place, without confirming with her if she’s available to take care of them.

This happened multiple times, and no matter how much she enjoyed spending times with her niece and nephews, she was angry that her brother never consider that she had a life on her own and that she could be busy as well.

One day, OP was headed to a friend’s place when her brother called her and told her he needed her to babysit his kids because he and his wife had plans. She tried to explain that she wasn’t available and that she was on her way to a friend’s.

“He just laughed and said sucks for you, then your plans are canceled,” she shared.

Once again, she told him very clearly that she couldn’t take care of his kids, but he didn’t listen and told her he was dropping the kids off at her door and that if anything happened to them it would be on her. She then warned him that in case he does that she would call the police.

Shortly after, she got a notification from her doorbell and saw her niece and nephews standing outside her door.

She started panicking and asked the friend who was with her in the car if they could return.

Once back home, OP called the police. They arrived at no time and asked her to take care of the children until her brother, who wasn’t answering his calls, returns to pick them up.

OP refused and that’s when Child Protective Services were alerted of the situation.

Sadly, the kids were taken by the Child Protective Services and OP assured them they would be taken care of and that they shouldn’t be scared. She then went to her friend’s place where she spent the night.

At around 04:00 a.m. her brother called her asking her where his children were, and she told him they were with Child Protective Services.

He started yelling at her, calling her names.

Unfortunately, things went too far, and her brother and his wife lost custody of the kids and were charged with endangering a child on three counts.

OP was then asked to be their legal guardian. She accepted but didn’t tell anyone. However, her brother discovered that his kids were with her and had been constantly calling her phone and contacting her via social media, telling her she ruined his family.

Their family accused her of ruining her brother’s family as well, telling her she could have “sucked it up.” The only person who stood by her side was her grandfather.

Over time, OP started feeling less guilty over the entire situation.

In her Reddit post she explained that she loved her brother’s kids unconditionally and she in fact loved spending time with them, but if her brother needed her to babysit them he should have arranged it with her at least 24 hours in advance.

Most of the Redditors agreed that was not the a*****e.

So even said that losing a custody couldn’t be that easy and that there could be more to the story.

Additionally, they said she shouldn’t feel guilty because she warned her brother, but he didn’t listen.

Concerns about Trump’s health for a presidential run are raised by a former White House aide

Former President Donald Trump has launched his third bid for the White House as he aspires to run for President again.

“We have to save our country,” he said from his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate where he and his family reside ever since they left Washington DC.

Trump addressed the crowd he invited to his property and said, “We are a nation in decline.

“For millions of Americans, the past two years under Joe Biden have been a time of pain, hardship, anxiety and despair.”

Trump announced his candidacy with the words, “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

He then proceeded, “Two years ago, we were a great nation, and soon, we will be a great nation again. This will not be my campaign, this will be our campaign, all, together.

“I have no doubt that by 2024, it will sadly be much worse, and they will see clearly what has happened and is happening to our country – and the voting will be much different.”

Outside Mar-a-Lago, supporters gathered to wave Trump 2024 flags.

However, as his aspiration to run for president again became a hot topic, a former aide of Trump raised concerns about the business mogul’s health, both his physical and emotional.

This isn’t the first time Trump’s health to be widely spoken about. During his time at the White House, his physical and mental health came under scrutiny and some even saw him unfit as a head of the country.

Trump, however, shared a report proclaiming his “exceptional” cognitive health on the day of Joe Biden’s 81st birthday.

The letter concerning his health state has been written by Dr. Bruce Aronwald, who describes himself as “Trump’s personal physician since 2021,” and comes after Trump, 77, has made verbal slips that brought his age to the forefront.

Regarding the weight Trump lost, the letter by his doctor states it’s a result of “an improved diet and continued daily physical activity.” Further, the doctor claimed Trumps “laboratory analysis” came back more favorable than in prior testing without specific metrics listed.

According to both of them, there have never been romantically involved or felt anything besides fondness and friendship for one another.

When it comes to Harmon, he and his wife Pam have been married for over three decades and they are still deeply in love with one another.

Asked about the secret to his long and successful marriage, Harmon says there isn’t any. Apparently, he needed to kiss a lot of frogs to get where he is today. One thing, however, he believes helped is their age at the time they decided to tie the knot. “We were both in our 30s when we got married, so hopefully the stupid stuff, we did earlier. That’s probably the closest I have to what the key is,” he told People.

Harmon and Dawber met at a party thrown by a mutual friend. They married in 1987 at a chapel at the Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California, in an intimate wedding ceremony attended by few of their closest friends and family only.

At the time, both were well-known actors already. Harmon gained fame starring in 240 Robert, Flamingo Road, The Love Boat, and the drama St. Elsewhere. Dawber, on the other hand, got her breakthrough with the television series Mork & Mindy, where she starred alongside late Robin Williams. “It was clear. He was so adorable and so funny,” she told ABC in 2020, speaking of Williams. “He just had it. And that was it. It was just like, “Where do I sign?’”

When they were born, Dawber decided to slow down and put her career on hold. She did appear in some series, but not as a regular, because she wanted to spend more time with her family. In fact, she believes that if two people are fully engaged in acting, the relationship between them is not likely to survive because of all the commitment and time the profession requires.

Both Harmon and Dawber agree on keeping their private lives out of the spotlight.

“It’s not even a choice. It’s who we are,” Mark said years later. “We stay home. A lot. I’m not a Twitter guy or a Facebook guy. Our sons aren’t into that either. Pam and I have both made a living in this business, and still, there’s a part of that, that’s just not natural.”

Jamie Lee Curtis also keeps her private life exactly that, private. In 1984, she married Christopher Guest, and they’re still together today. The couple has two adopted children.

Curtis first saw Christopher, who is best known for his role in Spinal Tap, while flipping through a Rolling Stone magazine, according to a piece she wrote for Oprah.com. “I looked at the man on the right, wearing a plaid shirt and a waggish smirk. I’d never seen him before, but I pointed at him. ‘I’m going to marry that man,’ I said to my friend.”

The two exchanged numbers through their agents, but he didn’t call her and she moved on dating someone else.

But then, she accidentally met him at a restaurant. “I glanced up and found myself staring straight at Chris, three tables away. He waved to me as if to say, ‘I’m the guy you called.’ I waved back: ‘I’m the woman who called you.’ A few minutes later, he got up to leave. Standing 20 feet away, he shrugged his shoulders and put up his hand as if to say, ‘I’ll see ya.’”

The film was a huge success and helped form Curtis and Harmon’s acting careers at the time. It made $160.8 million worldwide, and critics praised Curtis’ performance.

Today, Curtis is a recipient of several accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards, a British Academy Film Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When Harmon became part of NCIS, Curtis appeared as Dr. Samantha Ryan in season nine.

Harmon loved working with her again.

“She’s terrific,” Harmon once said about Curtis’s appearance on NCIS. “I’ve known Jamie a long time. She’s a treat to have on set. The rest of the cast loves her and Gary Glasberg has created a role for her that made her want to come and play in the first place, which is rare. But she’s had a great time there, and I think she’d tell you that as well.

“She’s a gift to have on the set,” Mark Harmon added. “And such a rare talent, and as a person, a good person and terrifically good at what she does. So, we’ve enjoyed having her.”

During a separate occasion, Harmon said of Curtis, “Jamie’s great and I think we’re all glad that she’s coming to play with us in our little sandbox for a while … I look forward to it, absolutely.”

“She’s a gift to have on the set,” Harmon said in another interview the same year. “Gary Glasberg has created a role for her that made her want to come and play in the first place, which is rare. But she’s had a great time there and I think she’d tell you that as well.”

Curtis, of course, felt the same for her friend. She as well was looking forward working with him.

“I’m not going to lie to you and say that this is a horrible, difficult job to ‘play’ with him. I’m happy to have it,” Curtis told Entertainment Tonight.

“He makes me blush a little bit,” she added. “Because he’s just such a sweet guy.. I’m very fond of him and he’s fond of me.”

Recently, Curtis shared with her fans that she has plans to make a sequel to Freaky Friday, but whether or not Harmon will have a role in it is yet to be revealed.

Today, Claire, who was born in October 2012, is 11 years old and she’s still singing. Additionally, she’s also an actress and is making a name for herself in the entertainment industry.

When it comes to her acting career, made her acting debut with the role of Rose in the feature film The Little Mermaid in 2018. In 2019 she voiced the character of Unitee in the film Spies in Disguise. Further, she landed the role of Orphan Girl in the feature film Anastasia in 2020.

In no time, Claire became very popular among children. No only they enjoy listening to her, but they also sing along her, and singing is proved to provide plenty of benefits at children.

‘What a beast!’ A huge snake was found by a hiker near South Carolina creek

A woman hiking at Jeffries Creek Park in Florence was startled to spot an enormous snake hiding near the edge of a creek.

As she has never seen such a huge snake before, although they are not uncommon at the area, she knew she needed to take photos of it so people could actually believe her story.

So what Meredith Langley did was take a closer look at the ‘beast.’

Upon taking photos, she uploaded them on the South Carolina Hiking club’s Facebook page. As expected, her post gathered the attention of many and was shared thousands of times in a matter of days.

Langley captioned her post, “This was a good teaching opportunity and example for my own kids who forget not to run ahead of me on trails!”

The snake, although extremely huge, was able to blend with the surrounding and wasn’t easy to spot.

According to experts, the reptile was a harmless brown water shake.

Greg Lucas, a biologist with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, explained that because of their thick, muscular bodies, water snakes appear larger than they actually are. According to him, water snakes grow to their full size between 30 and 60 inches.

These reptiles represent large species of nonvenomous natricine snake endemic to the southeastern United States and are often one of the most abundant species of snakes found in rivers and streams of the southeastern part of the country.

Langley said that on their weekly hikes in the area, she and her children come with copperhead snakes, but water snakes and water moccasins are also very common.

According to her, the snake she spotted and later shared online was around four feet long.

The beast was “wholly unafraid of us,” she added.

“It watched me with stillness and reserve, and without aggression or fear. That told me that this creature knew with certainty that it was capable of defending itself if needed, but it need not exert that energy unnecessarily,” Langley said.

“That area is its home, not ours, and my children and I maintain that respect and reverence anytime we are out in nature,” she added.

My mom arrived in a frilly white bridal dress to my brother’s wedding to draw all the attention

A wedding is a significant event that marks an important milestone in two people’s lives, so this day should be all about the bride and the groom.

A man shared a story of what had happened on his brother’s wedding and asked Redditors to tell him whether he was in the wrong.

He shared his story explaining that his older brother and his sister-in-law dated for seven years before deciding to tie the knot. He was extremely happy for them because as he stated, the two were incredible people he respected the most.

His mother, however, wasn’t as excited over the wedding for no particular reason. Days before the big day, she threw a tantrum over something insignificant and the newlyweds didn’t even expect her to attend the ceremony after that.

However, not only the groom’s mother was present at the wedding, but she wore a ridiculously frilly white bridal dress. No one was aware she was planning on wearing a wedding gown to her son’s wedding, although everyone somehow knew she would do something just to be in the center of attention and steal the spotlight.

The bride only noticed her mother-in-law wore a wedding dress while she walked down the aisle and spotted her sitting in the first row. However, not wanting to make a scene, she decided to simply go on with the ceremony as though nothing happened.

“Her dress was much more of a bridal dress than the bride’s that day,” the OP wrote of his mom’s dress.

As the wedding reception was about to take place, OP decided to do something in order to teach his mother a lesson for messing with his brother and his sister-in-law’s big day.

“We were served glasses of red wine at lunch, and I asked for mine to be filled to the brim,” he wrote in his Reddit post. And, as you probably assume, he didn’t drink it, but “accidentally” spilled it on his mom’s dress after tripping.

Her dress was ruined and she was raged. She started shouting and got extremely mad at him because she now needed to take a four-hour roundtrip drive to her home and back in order to change. She did just that, but missed a great part of the wedding reception. When she returned, she was dressed in the outfit her son, the one who was getting married, bought for her.

Some of the people close to the groom and the OP were aware that OP didn’t really trip. Knowing what type of a person their mother was, they were glad he did something to give her a taste of her own medicine.

The Maid of Honor even told him that he deserved an Oscar for his performance. “Enjoy the best bottle of wine I could find, for the best wedding gift you could have given us,” she said.

Sadly, OP’s mom still doesn’t talk to him, but he doesn’t regret what he did and Redditors are on his side.

Many agreed that he stepped up for his brother and his sister-in-law when they needed it the most.

They couldn’t help but slam the man’s mom for her conscious decision to make everything about her.

I came home and found my humiliated wife crying behind a closed door

A man took to the “AITA” forum on Reddit to ask fellow users if he was in the wrong when he decided to kick his sister and her twin daughters from his home.

Namely, when his sister got divorced and left her ex-husband’s home together with her two 16-year-old daughters and asked to move in with the OP, he and his wife were already going through a tough period themselves. His wife was diagnosed with cancer and was receiving chemo treatments but they still decided to open the door to their home for his sister and nieces.

The OP’s wife was fragile at the time because she lost her hair due to the medications and the treatments she was undergoing. She had a hard time accepting the way she looked so she decided to get herself a wig in order to regain her self-confidence. Her husband was extremely supportive and made all in his power to help her feel beautiful again.

His two teenage nieces were interested to touch the wig and play with it and even asked their uncle’s wife if they could have it in order to curl it and straighten it but were told they couldn’t. OP’s wife didn’t want to be seen with a bald head and wouldn’t take the wig in front of her husband’s sister and nieces.

One day, when OP came home, he could hear his wife crying. She locked herself in her room and refused to get outside. After pleading her to share with him what the problem was, she explained to him that his nieces took her wig without her consent and refused to return it. When she approached them to ask for her wig again, they started laughing and filming her.

Once she realized she was filmed, she entered the bedroom and wouldn’t leave it.

She was crushed because of the teenagers’ behavior.

Hearing this, OP rushed towards the kitchen where his sister and nieces were and confronted them. The girls handed him the wig and claimed they just wanted to have some fun and that it was all part of a prank.

He was furious and asked his sister to talk to them about their rude behavior, but she just turned to him and said that it wasn’t a big deal and that both he and his wife were overreacting. This made the man even more raged.

At that moment, although he knew they had nowhere else to go, he decided to kick them from his home.

He was welcoming and nice, and they tortured his wife as a result.

“I later let them know about the eviction since they thought I wasn’t serious, and they started crying, begging that I let it go,” the man stated. His sister started crying and begged him to change his mind, but he wasn’t having any of her excuses.

She then involved their father who also tried to convince his son not to kick his sister out of the house.

The man wanted to know if he overreacted as his sister believed or he did the right thing standing up for his sick wife.

Redditors shared their opinions. “NTA. They’re 16, old enough to know better and understand that actions have consequences,” Aunty_Fascist stated, adding that the girls were at fault for disrespecting the wife.

“If my son did that at 16, I would flush his phone down the can, lock up the keys to the car, and ground him until he’s 25,” another user added.

“How would they feel if someone shaved THEIR heads and started filming and laughing?” laulau88foo wondered, claiming the girls were rude and the man was kind to let them stay at his house.

A newly adopted stray dog saved the life of a newborn baby in the middle of the night

One family, The Robinsons, had a 6-year-old son, and when the wife ended up being pregnant with their second child, they decided to move to a bigger house in a remote area where they wanted to build a farm. As they lived in a small apartment which they rented before getting the house, they weren’t allowed to keep a pet at home, but now that they had their own place, they desperately wanted to get a dog.

Wanting to adopt a canine from a shelter, they visited some and as they were hearing all those stories of how each of the animals ended up there, they stumbled upon a shy Pit Bull named Benson.

Sadly, Benson’s life wasn’t an easy one. He was used for fighting for many years and was later dumped on the streets. When volunteers found him, he had already lost faith in humans and was afraid to even lift his head. After some time at the shelter, a family took him in but his happiness lasted for 2 weeks only. The family decided they didn’t want him because he wasn’t friendly.

Hearing this, Mrs. Robinson knew she needed to give him a chance for a better life. They adopted Benson, and although he acted strangely at first, he soon made friends with the family’s son Mathias.

When the baby was born, Benson only showed love and affection.

One night, however, the family heard a loud barking coming from the baby’s room. They rushed to see what was going on when they saw Benson biting the ribs of the crib. At first, they feared the worst as they though he wanted to hurt the little one, but he was doing just the opposite. As it turned out, the baby stopped breathing and Benson was trying to reach to her.

The family rushed her to the hospital where they were told that if Benson didn’t alert them of the baby’s condition, she would surely die. Thankfully, that didn’t happen.

When Mrs. Robinson saved his life by getting him out of the shelter, she never assumed Benson would save her child’s life in return.

Malia Obama’s remarkable evolution has been capturing attention

Being the daughter of a former president of the United States of America, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the public is interested in the private life of Malia Obama.

Barack Obama served as a president from 2009 to 2017 and although it’s been years since he and his family left the White House, they are still very active in the sphere of politics.

Malia grew up in front of the eyes of the public, and watching her choose a career path and become her own person has been a delight to the fans and the supporters of her family.

25-year-old Malia opted to pursue a career as a screenwriter, and she’s pretty successful at what she does. She no longer resembles the young girl who wore cute dresses and ribbons and held her daddy’s hand in public, but a young woman with an individual, casual sense of style.

Both sisters now made a home in Brentwood, close to the university Sasha attends.

As of their parents, they can’t be more proud of their daughters, which is something they mention whenever given the chance.

During an appearance on the The Late Late Show with James Corden, the former President opened up of the fears that growing up in the White House would lead his daughters to become “odd kids.” But that didn’t happen, and his girls turned into “fantastic young women.”

Michelle is as proud of her daughters. In the past, she said how she and her husband wanted to raise “authentic people” who would be able to navigate their way in the world beyond living in the White House. During an interview, Michelle joked about Sasha and Malia’s cocktail-making skills. “Not only did they drink it, they made one. Now it was a bad martini. It was very weak in a tumbling glass,” the former First Lady said.

“You know they stumbled through. It was mostly vermouth and ice. Well, maybe it wasn’t even vermouth because I don’t even think they knew that vermouth goes in a martini,” she added.

Recently, the sisters were spotted pictured arriving at Drake’s after-party following his sold-out show with 21 Savage and it’s very obvious that they share a close bond.

During a separate occasion, Malia was spotted in New York with Dawit Eklund, her alleged boyfriend.

On her 25th birthday, her parents wrote heartfelt messages to their older daughter.

Barack, 61, posted a sweet photo giving his girl a big hug in what appeared to be his former presidential office.

“Happy birthday to this talented, hilarious, and beautiful young woman. Malia, I hope 25 brings you everything you’re looking for and more,” he posted on Instagram.

Her mom congratulated her on her birthday with a throwback photo of herself and Malia as a todler.

“Happy birthday, Malia!,” Michelle captioned the post. “I feel so lucky to be your mom and to be able to watch you become the wonderful young woman you are today. Love you so much! 💕.”

Malia is not only successful in building her Hollywood career, but she’s also very happy for having supportive parents by her side.

If you see these hanging from your tree, you need to know what it means

The bagworms belong to the superfamily Tineoidea, which is a basal lineage of the Ditrysia (as is Gelechioidea, which includes case-bearers). The family is relatively small, with about 1,350 species, who are found almost everywhere.

Despite their name, which comes from the worm-like form of the larvae, these insects aren’t worms but moths.

The bagworms live their entire life cycle inside the safety of their bag, which they construct using silk and interwoven bits of foliage. These bags are created when the larvae attache bits of plant debris, such as leaves, twigs, and bark, to their bodies using a silk-like thread they produce. As they grow bigger, the bag gets bigger too.

The eggs of a female moth hatch in late spring or early summer.

Only the adult male moth leaves the protection of its bag when ready to mate while female moth doesn’t leave her bag.

Bagworms usually infest evergreen and deciduous trees and the bags they construct sometimes resemble a cone so people may overlook them at first glance. Their favorite host plants are cedar, arborvitae, juniper, and false cypress, but in the absence of these preferred hosts, bagworm will eat the foliage of just about any tree: fir, spruce, pine, hemlock, sweetgum, sycamore, honey locust, and black locust.

Although they seem harmless, bagworms actually cause significant damage to the trees. The issue is that they hide until the infestation is severe.

As they feed on the leaves of the tree, it makes it more difficult for the tree to photosynthesize and produce the nutrients needed for growth and survival.

At the same time, they make the tree weaker, and with that, more prone to diseases, attacks from other pests, and environmental stressors. If not treated for bagworms, the tree can eventually die.

There are several ways of managing bagworms infestations. Some of them are explained below.

One of the ways is to pluck each of the bag/cocoon out of the tree one at a time. This is however possible if the number of trees affected is smaller. If you deal with a landscape of affected trees, each of which containing numerous bags of bagworms, this isn’t the most appropriate method.

Luckily, there are other methods available, such as:

Pruning and Destruction – In case of widespread infestation prune the affected branches and properly destroy them. Also, look for other places of infestation, such as nearby fences.

Encourage Natural Predators – Some birds and parasitic wasps feed on bagworms, so attracting them can come in handy when fighting against bagworms. Woodpeckers, for one, can even break apart the bags to eat the females or eggs inside. Encouraging this method, by making your yard or farm bird-friendly helps avoid using chemicals which otherwise kill the helpful insects too.

Chemical Control – If nothing else works, turn to chemical control such as acephate (Orthene), cyfluthrin, and spinosad, applied as sprays. It is important to have in mind that chemical control should be approached with caution and only used as a last resort, considering the potential environmental impact. In case you opt for chemical control, do it on a windless and dry day so the product dries quickly and doesn’t drift on the breeze.

It would be for the best to prevent the infestation of bagworms in the first place. This can be achieved with regular inspection of the trees, good maintenance, planting the trees at appropriate distance to avoid overcrowding, and by monitoring the surrounding vegetation, among the rest.

Jennifer Aniston’s heartbreaking words on Matthew Perry – her demand to fans confirms what we suspected

The passing of Matthew Perry left a void in the hearts of his fans, family, and cast-mates. Probably best known for the role of witty Chandler Bing in the iconic series Friends, Perry was always ready to crack jokes that made millions laugh while he was fighting his demons and struggled with alcohol and drug addiction.

Perry’s addictions spiraled downward after he was prescribed Vicodin following a jet ski accident in 1997.

“It wasn’t my intention to have a problem with it,” he told People in 2002. “But from the start, I liked how it made me feel, and I wanted to get more.”

Sadly, his problems only grew bigger and bigger.

“I had this odd rule that I would never drink on a set,” Perry told The New York Times. “I went to work in extreme cases of hangovers. It’s so horrible to feel that way and have to work and be funny on top of that.”

“I don’t remember three years of it,” the late actor revealed in an interview with the BBC about filming Friends while struggling with his addiction. “I was a little out of it at the time — somewhere between Seasons 3 and 6.”

The relationship Perry shared with his five best friends on screen translated into equally profound friendships off screen. His cast-mates, who were well aware about everything Perry was going through, tried helping him and were very supportive, not only during the ten years the series was filmed but later on as well.

“I thought I was hiding it so well. But I wasn’t in a position to stop, Perry shared.”

One of the actors who reached out to Perry the most was Jennifer Aniston.

Aniston stood by his side through thick and thin and she was the one who stayed in close contact with him during his ups and downs.

A friend of hers told Daily Mail, “Nobody shed more tears for Matthew during the darkest points of his struggles with addiction than Jennifer.”

“All five of the Friends cast are in real bad shape, but Jen’s by far taking this the worst,” a Hollywood insider told Woman’s Day.

“She’s torturing herself with each and every scenario where she could have done this or should have said that. She was one of the last people to speak to him, and she’d planned on calling him on Sunday [the day after he died]. She’s been going over every word, but no one could have known.”

The insider stated, “The real pain is the fact she’s been with him almost every step of the way. She had huge hopes for a big comeback for Matthew, and they were talking about working on a new script together. There was so much to look forward to, but even Jen knows it was his body that gave out, not Matthew.”

“She knows he wanted to live, which makes his premature death unbelievably cruel. He had so much more to give. She’s absolutely crushed, and it will take her a long time to recover. She will never be convinced she didn’t do everything she could to save him, but she truly did. The world had Matthew Perry for a lot longer than expected thanks to Jen and Courteney Cox helping him through those dark times.”

That the bond between Perry and Aniston was as close as that of the characters they portrayed was obvious from the 2021 reunion. Back then, it was uncertain whether Perry would take part in it due to his battle with his addictions, but Aniston insisted she wouldn’t want a reunion without him.

She was convinced he would eventually overcome his addictions, but just two years following the reunion, Perry died, and Aniston has utterly been heartbroken ever since. She has always aspired to be supportive and be there for Perry, but the truth is that she has always dreaded this day could come.

Perry and Aniston first met around three years before being cast for the roles of Chandler and Rachel. In his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, which he published last year, Perry wrote how he attempted to date her, but she declined.

When they reunited again on the set of Friends, their friendship blossomed, and nothing romantic ever happened between them.

Before losing her longtime friend, Aniston lost a central figure in her life, her dad, veteran TV soap star John Aniston.

A source close to the actress told Express that’s she’s not having it easy.

“It’s hit her that she’s lost two of the most important men in her life in the space of 12 months and she’s reeling,” the source said.

Husband pays over $5K for friends’ & co-workers’ Christmas presents, wife is ‘shocked’ seeing the price of her gift

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Although the holiday is all about appreciating everything we have and being grateful for our family and friends, it’s also about getting gifts for our loved ones.

A married couple was about to spend their first Christmas together as a husband and wife after dating for three years. They had this tradition of buying gifts separately.

One day, as she was cleaning around the house, the woman accidentally stumbled upon her husband’s Christmas gift list.

She was curious to take a peek, but what she read left her in a state of shock.

As she was going through the list, she noticed that her husband was very generous when he was picking gifts for his friends, co-workers, and family. Among the rest, he purchased a wristwatch worth $600 for a co-worker, a $250 bracelet for his sister-in-law, and $900 workout gear for a friend of his.

However, when she finally spotted her name, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The gift her husband chose for her was a stainless steel kitchen spoon set worth $20. At that moment, she felt both disappointment and rage, and after giving the entire situation a thought, she decided to confront him about this issue.

“I was too shocked to ignore this and I had a confrontation with him about it,” she explained in a post on Reddit in which she asked fellow users to tell her if she was right to act like she did.

Her husband told her that she was selfish and that she overreacted. He also said that since he was spending his own money on the gifts, he was allowed to spend as much as he wanted on whomever he wanted.

As she insisted that she was insulted by his lack of thoughtfulness, he told her she should learn how to be satisfied with whatever she gets no matter how much the gift costs.

She believed she wasn’t appreciated as much as his friends and family, but he called her an “ungrateful, spoiled brat.”

Calling her ridiculous, he even stopped talking to her.

Redditors took a stand and told her that she was completely right for being mad at her husband for choosing such a gift for her since he was spending outrageous amounts of money on others.

“If one of my coworkers spent so much more on me than on their own spouse, I would be SERIOUSLY weirded out,” one person noted. “If my BIL got me a $250 bracelet I’d be extremely uncomfortable. Throw in the fact that he only spent $20 on spoons for his wife I’d be appalled,” another added.

Others even suggested that the choice of gifts was a huge red flag. “That’s a huge red flag to dote and shower others with gifts and not your significant other…but expect them to get you nice things in return. It’s beyond disrespectful,” one person said.

Kevin Bacon shakes off his ‘footloose’ record for celebratory throwback dance

Almost 40 years after Footloose aired, actor Kevin Bacon showed the world that he still got his dance moves. In a video he posted recently, the 65-year-old Hollywood star recreated the iconic dance from the 1984 Oscar-nominated film in which he starred.

The video was captioned “Strike over! @sagaftra” and celebrated the end of the 118-day actors’ strike after SAG-AFTRA reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios in November.

The video was taken in an empty barn, and showed Bacon being all jolly with his cowboy boots on, dancing to the film’s title song by Kenny Loggins.

“It pleases me to no end that you embrace and provide so joyfully what brings the rest of us such happiness. Thank you for this, and all you do, Mr. Bacon,” fellow actor Nathan Fillion commented on the video.

“This made my day Kevin!” Rita Wilson, singer and wife of Tom Hanks wrote.

“Oh. My. Yessssssssssss,” said Dancing With The Stars presenter Julianne Hough, with actor Ethan Hawk adding: “This is amazing!!!!!”

“An entire generation was just celebrating over this video!” a fan added.

As Footloose is to celebrate its 40 years anniversary in February, Bacon acknowledged the importance of the film, also starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Lori Singer, John Lithgow and Dianne Wiest, for its impact on a number of generations and fans.

“40 years. That’s one of those movies. It did change my life,” Bacon said. “To say nothing else would not be true. I was working and I knew I’d be an actor for the long haul, but I thought a character actor — which I am — but this took over people’s psyche for that moment and my life switched.”

‘It’s a blessing cake’ – Adopted boys break down over 1st ever birthday celebrations

Our birthday is that special day of the year that reminds us that we are still alive and we have a lot to be thankful for.

The truth is, however, that not everyone gets to celebrate their birthday like this. For many, having a birthday cake is just a dream that is hard to be fulfilled.

Abraham and James Walker, who were brought up in Siera Leone and experienced tough childhood while growing up never had the chance to blow candles on a birthday cake. Fortunately, that was about to change.

They boys used to live on the streets before they ended up in an orphanage, but luckily, they were adopted by an incredibly loving family from the United States. Needless to say, their lives changed completely, and now, each new day is a new adventure for them.

According to their adoptive mother Jamie who resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, from the moment her boys entered their new home, to the first ever presents they received, “everything is magic to them.”

However, the most magical moment of all, which caught the attention of a huge number of people, was when Abraham got to celebrate his birthdays with a real cake.

“This was the moment I knew he’d been waiting for,” Jamie wrote. “His very first birthday cake. One for just him. One with his name on it.”

Jamie posted a video of the heartwarming moment Abraham sees his mom walking in with his birthday cake. He’s shocked at first and then with tears of joy running down his face, he rushes towards his dad’s arms to give him a warm and long hug.

“When I see the cake, I thought that is the most beautifulest thing I’ve ever seen,” Abraham said. “It’s not just a birthday cake. It’s a blessing cake.”

His siblings are also there to share this precious moment with their brother, including James who was about to get his very own cake a few weeks later.

Considering James’ more “serious” personality, Jamie believed his reaction won’t be as emotional as that of her brother, but she was so wrong.

“The most intense hug I’ve ever had,” Jamie wrote. “I could feel his joy, his gratitude, his hope, his love, his everything. It was all there wrapped around me.”

Abraham’s and James’ genuine reactions remind us that we should learn how to be happy with little things in life because they are what make living worthwhile.

We are so happy for these boys and we are glad they finally live the life they always deserved.

Buttons is a deer who made friends with a Golden Retriever named G-Bro. But this friendship wasn’t just a one time thing. Instead, it has started 11 years ago and it still lasts. What’s most, Button’s fawns have also become an important part of the canine’s life.

When Buttons became a mom for the first time, she was eager to take her little ones to her best friends.

And as gentle as G-Bro is said to be, he was overly excited to meet his friend’s babies.

In the video below, the dog could be seen greeting the fawns with gentle licks and playing around with them the way he has played with their mom over the years.

Those who have seen the footage jokes that G-Bro makes an amazing ‘step-dad’ to the little fawns and is of great help to his friend.

This former First Lady’s outfit choice was the topic of intense discussion at Roslynn Carter’s funeral

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who passed away November 19 at the age of 96, will always be remembered as someone who devoted her life serving the nation, not only during the time at the White House, but beyond.

She was an advocate for women’s rights and spent her lifetime raising awareness about mental health.

On January 20, 1977, Jimmy was inaugurated as the 39th President of the United States. Rosalynn was by his side and wore the same gown she had worn when he was sworn in as Georgia Governor years earlier.

During his presidency, Roselynn wasn’t just a First Lady, but she was her husband’s closest advisor and stood by his side supporting every decision he made as a head of the country.

“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” former president Jimmy Carter said in the statement following her passing. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Two years ago, Jimmy Carter and his loving wife Rosalynn celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary and held the title of the longest-married presidential couple.

The Carters tied the knot on July 7, 1946, in their hometown of Plains, Georgia, where they celebrated the special milestone.

Rosalynn’s family lived next to Jimmy’s and she was a very good friend with his sister. She remembered that Jimmy’s sister had a photo of him on the wall and she fell in love with that photo showing young Jimmy wearing his uniform.

“I didn’t know a single boy I thought I’d want to spend my life with until Jimmy Carter came calling,” Rosalynn explained.

When Jimmy returned to Plains on a break from the Naval Academy, his then-girlfriend was away at a family reunion, so he missed the opportunity to see her.

“I was cruising around with my sister, Ruth, and her boyfriend, just looking for a date, and I picked up Rosalynn in front of the Methodist church,” Jimmy recalled in What Makes a Marriage Last. When he laid eyes on Rosalynn, he immediately knew she was the one.

“I just felt compatible with her. She was beautiful and innocent, and there was a resonance. We rode in the rumble seat of a Ford pickup – Ruth and her boyfriend in the front – and I kissed her on that first date. I remember that vividly.”

“The moon was full in the sky, conversation came easy, and I was in love,” Rosalynn wrote in her memoir First Lady from Plains about their first date.

They started dating but didn’t marry until she turned 18 because she made a promise to her dying father that she won’t marry before finishing school.

With Rosalynn’s passing, Jimmy Carter lost not only his life companion, but his best friend.

The Carter’s son Chip also issued a statement thanking his mother for the tireless work she put in to give Americans better access to mental health care.

“Her life of service and compassion was an example for all Americans. She will be sorely missed not only by our family but by the many people who have better mental health care and access to resources for caregiving today.”

The former First Lady was honored by her loved ones and laid to rest on Wednesday in her longtime home of Plains, Georgia. The funeral service was held at Maranatha Baptist Church, where Jimmy Carter and the former first lady worshipped. Earlier tributes were held in nearby Americus and in Atlanta.

The ceremony saw the attendance of both current and former U.S. First Ladies, including Dr. Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, Melania Trump, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton.

What caught the attention of many was the outfit Melania Trump chose for the occasion. As most of the attendees wore black, she wore a gray tweed coat cinched at the waist with a belt, deviating from the all-black protocol. The mid-calf length of the coat left her bare legs exposed and she wore black leather gloves.
