Teen commits suicide worrying over A-level exam results – Heartbroken dad congratulates him at his grave

The coronavirus pandemic which claimed the lives of a huge number of people worldwide and affected the rest in one way or another, along with the lockdown and the strict measures imposed by the governments, has left many suffering from depression and other forms of mental struggles.

Unfortunately, the situation changed the lives of many young people, among which that of a teen named Matthew Mackell who took his own life on May 6, 2020. Matthew was worried for his future and for the results of his A-level exams and wrote in his diary that the lockdown only made things worse for him and increased his anxiety more and more with each passing day.

“He was worried about his results and he was scared he was going to be in a dead-end job and he didn’t know where to go with lockdown,” Matthew’s father Michael Bond told KentOnline. “He lost his job too because of the virus and it all had a knock-on effect.”

Before the tragedy took place, Matthew called the police at around 10:18 pm and told the dispatcher: “Can you send someone to pick me up, I’m about to kill myself.”

After calling his number back, Matthew picked up the phone twice. The first time, he said he was “okay,” and the second time, he hung up without saying anything. At the time the police managed to locate him through the signal of his phone, Matthew was already dead at the park, according to Mirror.

A few months after his passing, Matthew’s test results came in. He scored an A in his favorite subject, finance. His devastated father said: “It’s a bittersweet feeling because I’m proud and I congratulated him at his grave but I just wish he was here. I don’t know about any of his other subjects yet.”

Further investigation will reveal how the police handled Matthew’s emergency call.

As quoted by Mirror, his father said: “I just can’t believe it’s happened. He left a message on his mobile phone screensaver saying ‘Hi you’ve found me. Tell my family I love them and to be there for each other. I’m struggling through life.’ I knew he was a popular lad to be around, always making people laugh, but I’ve found out how strong he was. He didn’t have any problems in the world but in his mind he had too many – especially with the lockdown.”

Having gone through such a devastating loss in his life, Michael has advice for students who are waiting for their exam results. “My advice is go and sit with a teacher and talk to them because they are still there to help. Just because schools are closed doesn’t mean there’s no-one to talk to.” He hopes no other student would ever feel the way Matthew had.

Michael still sends text messages to Matthew’s phone number. On the day the teen’s results came in, Michael wrote: “Hi mate just got your results today You got an A. You did fantastic mate you should be well proud of yourself. I hope you’re getting my text messages in heaven. I’m so proud of you mate and I’m so proud to be your dad. Fly high darling my love forever dad.”

A memorial tree was planted at Dunorlan Park in Matthew’s memory. May he rest in peace.

Lions walks on grass for the first time after spending their lifetime locked inside a cage

Being given the chance to live in their natural habitat, animals thrive. In fact, the nature is the only place where wild animals should spend their days. Sadly, a huge number of them end up locked up and are used for profit by the people.

Take the circus for example. Many lions, tigers, bears, snakes, monkeys, elephants, and other species, are forced to perform for the crowds who are cheering out loud, probably not being aware of the animals’ suffering.

The animals pay the ultimate price, and the good thing is that this starts to change, one step at a time, all thanks to animal lovers, advocates, and organizations throughout the world.

Recently, the government in Guatemala passed a law which bans circuses from using animals.

As a result, all those creatures who lived locked inside cages got to experience freedom for the first time in their life. Among the rescued animals were nine tigers and five lions who were taken in by Animal Defenders International (ADI) and placed at a temporary rescue center build especially for them.

The journey towards liberty of two of the lions, Tarzan and Tanya, was caught on tape. It truly shows the ultimate satisfaction of the hard work by the organizations which fought for these creatures’ freedom.

Tanya stepped out of the cage first, and Tarzan followed her. They stepped on grass for the first time ever, and everyone who saw the video could feel their relief.

After they went through the process of rehabilitation, Tarzan and Tanya were sent to their permanent home, a sanctuary in South Africa.

Elderly man’s lawnmower is stolen – anonymous donor buys him a brand new one

This incredible story sparks rays of hope and reminds us that humanity is still going strong.

Gordon Blakeslee, an 85-year-old man from Harpursville, New York, was forced to spend some time with his son because of the pandemic. However, while he was away from home, someone stole his riding lawnmower and that left Gordon heartbroken because taking care of his yard and lawn is one of the things that keeps him busy and makes him feel useful. On top of that, he says that others, and that includes his son, cut the grass too short.

Not having an idea who could do such a cruel thing as stealing from him, Gordon posted a sign in front of his home saying: “Bring back my mower, I’m 85 years old and I can’t push.”

This turned out to be the right thing to do because the sign led to a solution to Gordon’s problem. Someone willing to step in saw Gordon’s plea and decided to buy him a brand new riding lawnmower. The person wanted to stay anonymous and asked the Broome County Sheriff’s Office to deliver Gordon his present.

Needless to say, this elderly man was over the moon. As the thief made him question humanity, the donor helped him restore his faith in it.

“Thank you, what else can I say. I really appreciate it,” Gordon said. “It’s got some new upgrades to it; that’s a lot better than my old one.”

Waffle House employees help coworker attend graduation when he has no clothes or ride

Uplifting stories like this one remind us that there are still good in people around us and that we should never, ever lose faith in humanity because the best things come when we least expect them.

18-year-old Timothy Harrison, who works at the Waffle House in Center Point, Alabama, graduated from Woodlawn High School recently. His boss, Cedric Hampton, learned there will be a graduation ceremony taking place and told Timothy to take a day off of work and wished him to have the best time of his life.

However, getting ready for the ceremony was quite hard for hard-working Timothy. He failed to attend the fitting for his cap and gown and didn’t get tickets for his parents. As he also didn’t have a ride across town to the commencement exercises, he decided not to attend what is considered one of the best and most memorable experiences in a teenager’s life.

On the day of the ceremony, Timothy went to work wearing his uniform. When his boss saw him, he was totally confused. “That’s when I said why aren’t you going to graduation?” Cedric explained, according to WVTM 13. “And he said ‘I don’t want to miss work.’ So I was like, you’re going!”

Another employee, Shantana Blevins, decided to take action as well. She offered to drive Timothy to pick up his hat and gown and then the two, together with Cedric, went to a clothing store and bough brand new shoes, shirt, pants, and tie for Timothy.

“When I put on clothes, that was a different feeling,” Timothy said. “I don’t even know the words. A million dollars? It was the best feeling.”

Luckily, after getting ready and taking a 20 miles ride to where the ceremony was taking place, Timothy arrived just in time. As Shantana didn’t have an entrance ticket, she was patiently waiting for her colleague outside.

According to this young man, he was very glad he made it to the event and had a fun time with his classmates and friends.

“I had people want to see me succeed, so it kind of made me excited,” Timothy said.

Royal expert claims Queen Elizabeth was “relieved” to meet President Biden and not Donald Trump during the G7 summit

Although it was reported by royal experts and a number of media outlets that after the death of Prince Philip Her Majesty The Queen would slowly “fade away gracefully” when it comes to her royal duties and would give more freedom in making decisions regarding the family to the heir apparent to the British throne, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth is still very active.

“Her family will step up and be by her side, but she will carry on,” a source told People in early April.

“She understands that she has a job to do, and [Philip] would have wanted her to crack on. She did do so when he retired from public life, she will never abdicate because of duty and honor and public service is so deep in her, as it was for him,” the source added.

Among other royal duties that she attended in the recent period was the G7 summit held in Cornwall, England, on Friday, during which world leaders discussed issues such as the climate change, vaccines, and other crucial subjects.

After the meeting was over, the Queen hosted President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden at Windsor Castle. What they discusses hasn’t been disclosed, but according to The Guardian, Queen Elizabeth could be heard saying to the President as they walked through the corridor: “You completed your talks,” to which Biden replied: “Yes we did.”

“We had a long talk, she was very generous. I don’t think she’d be insulted, but she reminded me of my mother. In terms of the look of her and just the generosity,” Biden, 78, was reported to have said of the Queen, 95.

According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the Queen was “relieved” that she met Biden instead of former POTUS Donald Trump.

“Given Donald Trump’s notorious unpredictability and the atrocious storming of the Capitol by a mob incited by him, she is likely to be personally relieved by Biden’s election victory,” he told Express.

“As the world’s most experienced head of state, she will undoubtedly appreciate the importance of America having a President with so much experience, especially during the unprecedented crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

During his latest visit of the UK, Donald Trump, whose unpredictability is something the Queen didn’t like about him, according to Fitzwilliams, he turned his back on her as he walked in front of her which many considered a “mortal insult.”

However, during his interview with Pierce Morgan later on, Trump said that the Queen spoke to him about how complex the Brexit was. When Morgan tried to make Trump reveal more details, he said: “Well, I can’t talk, you know I’ve heard very strongly from a lot of people, you just don’t talk about that conversation with the Queen, right? You don’t want to do that,” after which he added: “Let me tell you what I can talk about. She is an incredible woman, she is so sharp, she is so beautiful, when I say beautiful – inside and out. That is a beautiful woman.”

In 2019, when Trump visited UK again, he broke the protocol once again when he shook hands with The Queen and Prince Charles instead of giving them the traditional bow. The same thing happened again with both him and Melania when they met the Royals at the NATO summit in London.

Queen Elizabeth to change Royal protocol and challenge any “mistruths” after Harry and Meghan row

After all the accusations made by Harry and Meghan Markle over the past year about the Royal Family, including their bombshell interview with Oprah and Harry’s appearance on Dax Shepard’s ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast where he spoke of the “genetic pain” he suffered because of his father, the Queen seems to have had it enough.

Once the interview aired and The Sussexes revealed how senior royals were concerned about Archie’s skin color and even failed to help Meghan with her suicidal thoughts, the Royals didn’t answer back. They neither confirmed nor denied the accusations mainly because they were following the royal protocol which has always been “never complain and never explain.” The Palace only issued a statement on the behalf of Her Majesty The Queen which said that the family will resolve any issues privately, stating that Harry and Meghan will always be much loved family members.

However, according to some news outlets, things went too far when the couple named their newborn daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the Queen’s childhood nickname given to her by her grandfather, so the Queen decided to change the Royal protocol in order to be able to respond to any mistrusts.

Mail on Sunday revealed that from now on Palace aides will correct false media reports which misrepresent private conversations between the Queen and other senior royals.

This came mainly because of the number of rumors regarding the Queen’s feelings about the name Lilibet. According to Harry and Meghan, he spoke to his grandmother and asked her for permission. BBC News, however, reported that it wasn’t true, something that angered Harry so much that he threatened to sue the newspaper, according to The Sun.

The couple further claimed that they would have never used the name if the Queen didn’t approve of that. They also said that they introduced Lilibet to her great-grandma through a video-call, which again, was said not to be true according to a source speaking to Mail on Sunday. The source was reported to have added: “Friends of the Sussexes appear to have given misleading briefings to journalists about what the Queen had said and that took the whole thing over the edge.”

Royal biographer Angela Levin also believes that Queen Elizabeth wasn’t thrilled with her 11th great-grandchild’s name as it was the name only Prince Philip used.

“I think it’s quite rude to her Majesty the Queen. It was a very private nickname from her husband who hasn’t been dead that long,” she told U.K. morning show Good Morning Britain.

However, now that the Royal protocol is about to change, the Palace will be able to answer to any of the rumors regarding the relationship between the members of the Royal Family.

Amid the feud and the constant rows between the members of her family, Queen Elizabeth is focused on her royal duties. She, together with Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as William and Kate, welcomed the leaders to the G7 summit which took place in Cornwall, England on Friday.

We truly wish that the Royals be able to leave any misunderstandings behind, especially now when the new baby was born.

“This is it, I’m gonna die” says lobster diver who was swallowed by whale

Michael Packard, 56, a commercial lobster diver from Cape Cod, has the most incredible story to share. Believe it or not, this man was scooped up by a huge humpback whale and then spat just less than a minute later.

As he was minding his own business in the water, Packard suddenly found himself surrounded with complete darkness. His initial thought was that he got attacked by a shark, which are common in this area waters, but he realized there were no sharp teeth around.

“All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black,” Packard told the Cape Cod Times.

“I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth.”

Speaking to WBZ-TV, Packard said that he was certain he was going to die and it looked like there was no way out from that terrifying situation. Luckily, it all turned out for the best when the giant creature decided to spit him out. “I saw light, and he started throwing his head side-to-side and the next thing I knew I was outside [in the water],” the lucky man explained. “My first thought was I can’t believe I got out of that situation. My second thought was for how injured I was.”

Packard was only able to survive inside the ocean mammal’s gut because he still had his his breathing apparatus on.

Luckily, he didn’t survive any serious injuries besides a dislocated knee and some soft tissue damage. Packard was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon and he could go home to his family and his two boys who can now proudly say that their dad is one of the luckiest people alive.

Twin girls have different skin color, teacher accuses mom of lying about them being sisters

Diversity is what makes this world beautiful. And these two girls are here to teach us that race is just a social construct.

Amanda and Michael Biggs are an interracial couple from Birmingham, UK. When they learned they are having twins they were over the moon. And then in July 2006, Marcia and Millie were welcomed into this world.

The girls were cute and resembled one another. But it was like that during the first days of their lives only. As time passed by, the parents noticed how Millie’s skin started getting darker. They believed the same would happen to Marcia, but they were wrong. Instead, Marcia’s skin got lighter and lighter.

The parents soon realized their twin girls had different skin color from one another. Of course, they didn’t care, but were a bit concerned about how others would react seeing them being of different race. They knew people can be judgmental, and didn’t want their daughters to get stared at while growing up.

This skin changing phenomenon is very rare and occurs in one in a million twin births. It doesn’t have any negative effects on the baby’s health.

When the girls were out with their parents many people stared at them, but the parents say that they have never really experienced someone to be hostile towards them. To their surprise, most people showed understanding, they were just curious how could twins be of different race.

When they started school, their teachers and classmates were stunned to learn the girls were twins, but Millie and Marcia say they have never experienced racism.

Their father on the other hand says he has experienced racism in the past and is glad the times have changed now and people are more accepting than before.

The twins aren’t just different in appearance, but in character as well. Millie is a typical girl, whereas Marcia loves dressing like a tomboy and she’s a huge fan of gymnastics.

At the age of 11, these lovely girls decided to use their looks to remind the world that racism shouldn’t ever be part of it. They were featured in the cover of the National Geographic.

Millie and Marcia are now teenagers and are attending the same school. We hope that no matter where the future takes them, they will forever remain best friends.
