Actress Betty White, who turned 99 this year, gives a grizzly bear a kiss

Actress Betty White is a national treasure. Born on January 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois, she turned 99 and according to her latest interview with People Magazine, it’s her sense of humor that keeps her young at heart.

White’s career spans over eight decades and she’s still the queen of showbiz.

In the early 1950s, White launched her first television series, Life with Elizabeth. Speaking of it, she told The Hollywood Reporter: “I was one of the first women producers in Hollywood.”

What followed were some huge series which cemented her place in the industry. White was part of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s and one of the four Golden Girls, a series following the life of four elderly female friends which ran for seven seasons and brought White an Emmy Award.

Betty White is older than sliced bread but her health is perfectly fine. She’s also the oldest person to host Saturday Night Live. “It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. It was really funny stuff, but it was a challenge,” she told Newsweek.

This amazing woman’s birthday parties have always been sort of unique. This year, however, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, White celebrated her 99th birthday with her closest friends only. And yes, that includes her animal friends as well.

In fact, White is known as one of the greatest animal lovers out there. She spends huge amounts of money on charities which help animals, among which the Los Angeles Zoo and the Morris Animal Foundation. I’m actually the luckiest old broad alive. Half my life is working in a profession I love and the other half is working with animals,” she said.

A video of her hanging around a bear named Bam Bam shows just how much she cares for the inhabitants of the zoo. She is seen feeding him and petting him and then planting a kiss on the grizzly’s head. I haven’t seen anything more adorable than this in a while.

Formerly conjoined twins reach a special milestone

When Carter and Conner Mirabal were born, they were conjoined at the torso. Their story gathered the attention of many people from all around the world when a decision was made for them to be separated by a complex surgery. So, when they reached five months, doctors believed the boys were ready to be separated.

They shared a liver and intestinal tract, so the operation was dubbed a “miracle surgery” by the doctors and everyone who was following their story from the media.

Thankfully, the 12-hour-long surgery was a huge success. However, the boys were forced to spend most of the first year of their lives at the hospital. They had to undergo further surgeries and treatments, but at the end it was all worth it.

Now, the beautiful brothers reached a very special milestone. They graduated pre-school, something their parents didn’t believe would be possible when they were born.

Carter and Conner, Jacksonville’s first-ever set of conjoined twins, are happy and thriving.

Congratulations, we wish you only the best in the years to come!

Dad defends decision to let Pit Bulls cuddle with his children after receiving online criticism

In the past, Pit Bulls were considered America’s favorite breed, but as time passed by and these dogs were forced into fights more and more, they became a synonym of aggression.

The truth is that Pit Bulls can be as gentle as any other breed, depending on who raises them and how much love they receive.

A father named Jarad Derochey, who is also the owner of MVP Kennels, breeding American Bully dogs, is going above and beyond to change the way people see Pit Bulls. Working with these dogs for many years taught him that Pit Bulls are extremely good around children; no surprise they were considered nanny dogs back in the day. However, he wants others to know that too, so he’s sharing cute photos of these dogs hanging around his kids.

But as much as the photos put smiles on people’s faces, many believe he shouldn’t allow his little ones around the canines.

In fact, after posting a photo of his son sleeping peacefully with one of the Pit Bulls, he received backlash, so he decided to take a stand. He spoke to Inside Edition saying that those dogs are very gentle and they would never harm anyone, especially a child. Jarad also said that he hopes his photos and videos will help open people’s minds about the breed.

“An authority of temperament testing in dogs proved that pit bulls were ranked at 86 percent of passing temperament, while the average dog ranks 77 percent,” Jarad said, according to LittleThings. “That means pit bulls are the second-highest temperament of all breeds.”

As it turns out, Jarad did help change the opinion many had about Pit Bulls as most of the comments on his adorable photos are now positive.

High school senior steps in for a cheerleader whose dad can’t make it to Parent’s Day

A high school boy did something really amazing and it all started when a Texas cheerleader, 9, began to cry. This all happened during a football game, which happened to be a Parent’s Day, while her father was absent because he was undergoing training at the Travis Air Force Base in California around 1,700 miles away.

The girl, called Addie Rodriguez, is at the St. John Bosco Elementary School, in San Antonio, and her dad Abel Rodriguez, who is a senior airman, fought in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Addie was left to be the odd one out when all the other fathers lifted their daughters onto their shoulders during a football game; nobody was there to lift little Addie onto their shoulders!

Alexis Perry-Rodriguez, the girl’s mother, said: “It was really heartbreaking to see your daughter standing out there being the only one without their father, knowing why he’s away. It’s not just an absentee parent. He’s serving our country.”

It was a hard reminder to her that her dad was not there and her eyes burned and filled with tears when she saw the other children with their fathers.

Addie said: “I just felt like really sad because I missed him a lot”

A high school senior, Matthew Garcia, has seen Addie was on her own and there was nobody to lift her up. He could see she was really upset and her tears in her eyes, so he vaulted over the fence to see if she was okay.

Garcia said: “I ran down from the bleachers right here. I just hopped the fence, and I went over, and I kneeled down, I talked to her and I said, Are you OK?”

He very quickly knew what the problem was and why she was so upset, so he lifted her up onto his shoulders to absolutely make sure she was not the odd one out and to make her feel better.

Alexis said: “I realized what he [Garcia] was doing, and my heart just melted. It was just the most beautiful thing.”

Garcia is really pleased he could help the girl feel better, he made Addie’s day, she was really grateful to him and for what he did.

“I just felt like somebody saved my life,” the girl said.

Her mom added that her girl is tough and understands that dad goes away for a reason.

What an amazing heartfelt gesture. Watch the video below and share it with your friends!

4-month-old baby “singing” Karen Carpenter’s song blows up the Internet

Millions of hearts have been melted by this incredibly cute video of a four-month-old baby who is enchanted by his mom’s friend’s voice and tries to sing along. Of course, sweet Adler is way too young to be able to speak, and only produces sounds, but many say that he’s a singer in the making judging from his innate musicality.

YouTube

When the woman, Anne, started belting out the lyrics of Karen Carpenter’s song I Need to Be in Love, all eyes were on her and baby Adler. People who have seen the video agree that Anne’s voice is angelic and that is why the tiny human is so charmed by it.

The way Adler smiles and tries to imitate the words coming from Anne’s mouth is beyond adorable.

YouTube

Luckily, another person who witnessed this special moment, John, was quick to take his phone out and film the whole thing.

It doesn’t really come as a surprise that the duet between Anne and Adler has been seen over 8.5 million times and everyone loves it. This all happened back in 2014, and we are eager to learn whether Adler, who is now almost 7 years old, still has his music talent. But one thing is certain, he probably adores this video of him that turned him into an overnight sensation among Internet users.

Teen on a trip to Wales jumps into lake to save stranger’s dog from drowning

First-ever visit of Wales turned into an unforgettable experience for a 17-year-old boy named Connor Telford from Dundee, Scotland.

As he was taking a trip to the Penllergare Valley Woods, he noticed a dog trapped in the water. Without thinking twice, Connor jumped inside the water to save the 7-year-old Shih-Tzu named Charlie.

The story was shared online by Charlie’s owner, Jane Warner, who explained the turn of events and was trying to reach Connor, whom she dubbed her “Scottish hero!”

As it turned out, Charlie was after some ducks and landed into the water by accident. Jane couldn’t go after him and was fearing the worst. “I’m disabled, so there was no way I could’ve swum out to get him. Which just left me standing there helpless on the bank thinking, ‘What the hell do I do now’?”

Suddenly, she saw the young man getting inside the water and rescuing her furry baby.

“The poor lad himself was also quite shaken up afterwards,” Jane said. “I think it had been a tougher swim than he’d expected and I’m really grateful to him for risking his own safety the way he did.”

Speaking to Wales Online, the grateful owner added that she didn’t have any doubts that if it wasn’t for Connor, Charlie would certainly die.

In her post, Jane wrote: “This young Scottish lad is my hero!” Soon after, she heard from some of Connor’s family who said: “He’s not a strong swimmer but launched himself headfirst into the lake with no thought for his own safety. He came out bedraggled, visibly shaken and was physically sick – but he’s recovering well from his ordeal.”

“Without this lad and you all clapping and cheering him to keep him fighting then I’d be telling a very different story,” Jane ended her post.

Thank you, Connor. You truly are a hero!

Strangers give a homeless man a makeover and help him reunite with his family who believed he was dead for over 10 years

Life can be so cruel at times. One day, we have it all, the next, our world collapses and we are left to cope with the harsh reality that we are no longer the people we used to be.

45-year-old João Coelho Guimarães from Brazil lost his home some ten years ago and has been living on the streets of Goiânia ever since. He has had a rough life and is struggling to make a living by collecting cans around town.

However, one serendipitous encounter changed it all for this kind man. Namely, as he was passing by a clothing shop and a barbershop owned by Brazilian country singer Alessandro Lobo, Guimarães enter the place and asked for a razor so that he could trim his beard. That’s when the owner and the employees came up with the idea to give him a makeover.

Guimarães was given a fresh haircut and brand new clothes, including a jacket, three shirts, a pair of pants, and a pair of shoes. He looked like a totally different person and Lobo was so glad Guimarães liked his new looks that he decided to share the transformation on his Instagram account. Believe it or not, it led to something truly incredible.

As it turned out, Guimarães’ family haven’t heard from him in years, which led them to believe he was dead. When Lobo’s photo reached to them, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

“They saw the photo and contacted me and, as he has neither a telephone nor a fixed address, tomorrow we will go through the neighborhood to try to find him,” Lobo explained at the time.

The reunion was a heartwarming one. Guimarães’ sister invited him to live with her and her family, but he refused the offer. “João is still on the streets. His sister wanted to welcome him and take him home, but he didn’t want to. He said that on the streets, he feels free. That’s why he didn’t want to go home,” Lobo explained in an Instagram post. “We thank God and all of you for making us instruments of this exciting moment. 2020 was a year of many losses for loved ones around the world, and in the midst of all this a [relief] for this family.”

What a beautiful story.

Owner ties dog to neighbor’s tree in the middle of the night along with a note on his financial situation

We always say how dogs are the most loyal creatures that have ever entered our lives. Sadly, we can’t say that we as humans have always returned that loyalty back. The great number of stories of owners who leave their furry pals behind is a proof that we can never love dogs as much as they love us, and that makes me really sad.

Now, amid the coronavirus crisis, we witness even more incidents of animals being dumped as many people can’t afford to take care of them. The story of a lovely Pit Pull named Lincoln is such a case.

Photos: Facebook/The Pittie Party of Central Florida

Lincoln’s owner had to leave his Orlando home in order to be with his family during the pandemic, so he though the best thing to do was to tie Lincoln to a neighbor’s tree hoping they would help him find another home. When the neighbors woke up in the morning and saw the tied Pit Bull with a muzzle on and a note by his side, they were confused. The note read, “I am leaving to California to be with my mother and brother during this pandemic. Please take care of Lincoln or find him a good home. I trust you with my baby. I’m sorry.”

The neighbors couldn’t keep Lincoln, but they reached to an animal rescue organization, The Pittie Party of Central Florida (TPPCF). One of the volunteers there, Mayson Jones, brought Lincoln home.

She knew Lincoln would be sad without his owner by his side, so Mayson made sure she kept him busy at all times. They played fetch, took long walks, and did a bunch of fun things together.

Putting Lincoln up for adoption was quite impossible because of the situation with the coronavirus, so the rescue organization was looking for someone to foster him until they find a way to find him a forever home.

That’s when Melanie Anderson stepped up. Lincoln’s foster family owns a boat so he gets to enjoy the sun while sailing with these people who spoil him rotten.

Hopefully, Lincoln’s new forever family will own a house with a huge yard as he enjoys running and playing. He’s getting along pretty well with other dogs, but not cats. So if you think you’d be the perfect person for him, please contact the shelter.

The rescue, TPPCF, is having hard times looking after all the animals at their shelter at the moment as the number of pets surrendered because of the pandemic is huge and the number of foster families and adopters declined. “We are in crisis mode with the amount of people who have abandoned their dogs because of unemployment and the uncertainty of what is around the corner. Shelters are being forced to euthanize dogs at a devastating rate. Individuals are abandoning their dogs on the streets after many shelters are denying intakes. WE ARE COMMITTED TO SAVING AS MANY OF THESE DOGS AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP,” they posted on Facebook.

Photos: Facebook/The Pittie Party of Central Florida

Foster families will be provided with all necessities around the animals and the expenses for taking care of the dogs will be covered. “There is no way we would ever be able to do what we do without the dedication and commitment from foster families. These individuals are the true heroes in rescue!”

Please share this story and help shelters’ pleas reach more people who would like to offer their home to these dogs.
