Weeks before passing, actor Ed Asner confessed his biggest ‘regret’

From Lou Grand and beyond, legendary actor Ed Asner had given the world of film more than any actor can ever wish for.

Unfortunately, his family announced on Sunday, that great Ed, who won the most performance awards of any male performer in the history of the Prime-time Emmy Awards, passed away at the age of 91 on August 28.

Ed will be greatly missed by his family and his huge audience.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show star led quite a life. And even at the age of 91, he believed he had so much more to do and to give to the world. Speaking to Closer earlier this year, Ed said: “If the good Lord is in a generous mood, he can give me another 91 years and I can show the world what I can do.”

Ed was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 15, 1929. His parents were Jewish immigrants. Ed served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the war, and once his service was over, he could completely devote his time and energy on doing what he always loved to do; acting.

At the beginning of his rich career, Ed was part of the theater scene in Chicago and New York, both on Broadway and off. Later, he landed roles in prominent shows such as The Outer Limits and Mission Impossible, and the movies Kid Galahad and El Dorado.

He was working on making a name for himself when he was offered the role which helped shape and skyrocket his career, that of Lou Grand in the smash hit-series The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He played the boss of the series protagonist Mary Richards.

At first, he was hesitant whether to take the role because he wasn’t sure if he could manage to channel his comedy the way he wanted, but he eventually agreed to be part of the iconic show. “I didn’t really put my toe into the water of comedy until I went up to read for ‘Mary Tyler Moore.’ I was afraid of it,” Ed recalled in a 1995 interview, according to Reuters. “Not that I couldn’t do an initial spark of humor but I didn’t know how to maintain it.”

With each episode, Ed’s character was capturing the audience’s hearts more and more.

“He was a beautiful actor,” the show’s creator James L. Brooks told Variety. “He was an able team player. He was just as deeply a good guy as everybody sensed he was.”

Besides being an incredible actor, Ed was also the President of the Screen Actors Guild for two terms. Speaking of his commitment, Brooks said: “He really cared about the causes he got involved in. People respected that someone at his level cared to get involved at all.”

Other movies Ed was known for are Rich Man, Poor Man and Roots, both of which earned him Emmy awards, Dead to MeCobra KaiModern Family, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, Elf, in which he played Santa, and the Pixar film Up, among the rest.

Ed was a father of four and a grandfather of 10. He had three children with his wife Nancy Sykes whom she cheated on in the past with the mother of his fourth child, son Charles Edward Vogelman. In fact, Ed only reconnected with Charles later in life.

Speaking of his affair, Ed dubbed it his biggest regret in life. It cost him his marriage and the wife he loved. “I cheated on my wife and I lost her. I will always regret that loss,” he confessed in an interview with Closer.

Ed Asner was one hell of an actor. May he rest in peace.

Mom’s reaction to her son throwing rocks at police during riots is commendable

Teaching your child right from wrong is what great parenting is all about. Sometimes, in an attempt to show our kids how much we love them, we avoid to scold them even if they do wrong. Unfortunately, that triggers consequences later in life, because it shows them that there is a way for them to be let off the hook even when they don’t act the right way.

An incident which took place during the Baltimore riots back in 2015 is a proof that when it comes to raising children, parents sometimes need to turn to some “desperate measures.”

Rioters filled the streets of Baltimore and when the police tried to stop them, they started throwing rocks at them.

There was one particular young man among those who attacked the officers. He was wearing a ski mask which covered most of his face, but that didn’t prevent his mother from recognizing him. She saw him on TV and was so embarrassed by his act that she got out of the house and tracked him down.

Getting near him, the mom tried taking his mask off, and she then started hitting him on the head. He received a few punches before he managed to separate himself from her.

The incident was caught on video by WMAR and the footage was later shared online. It attracted the attention of many. Even Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts praised this mother’s act.

“In one scene you had a mother who grabbed a child who had a hood on his head and started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed,” he said during a press conference. “I wish there were more parents out there who took charge of their kids tonight.”

He then added: “Take control of your kids. This is our city, let’s make a difference.”

A number of people took their time to comment on the video. One person wrote, “That MOM in Baltimore that Smacked her kid for Looting, deserves MOM of the YEAR. Other MOMS should be doing the same!” Another added, “Mom of the year in Baltimore… my mother would have did same thing…”

She got the title “Mom of the year,” and we believe she definitely deserves it.

Mom, 37, eager to welcome baby number 12 as her eldest child turns 12 years old

Can you imagine what life must be like with 12 children under one roof? I guess it’s fun as much as it is tiring, but for one mother named Courtney, having 12 kids is a dream come true.

Ever since this mother welcomed her first child some 12 years ago, she has never spent a day without a bump or a newborn. In fact, she is expected to give birth to her 12th child in March 2022, about the same time her eldest child is turning 12 years old.

37-year-old Courtney and her husband Chris Rogers, 32, who is a church pastor, have been together for 13 years and live in a three bedroom home in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. Of course, with the arrival of their latest addition, they plan to move to a bigger house.

Six of the Rogers’ children are boys, and five are girls, so the proud father hopes to have another girl, while Courtney would be equally happy with another boy.

Now if you think this supper mom has a lot on her plate with having to prepare a couple of meals a day for so many people, sit down before we tell you that she homeschools all of them.

After the arrival of her 11th child back in November 2020, Courtney shared with Daily Mail that she would be sad and disappointed when she stopped having more children.

“I love being a mother and I would really like to have another one. We’ll probably wait a year or two to try.”

All of the children have names starting with the letter C, and they are planning to continue the trend.

Courtney is happy to share with the world what life is like with so many kids. She often shares adorable photos of her family on her Instagram page @littlehouseinthehighdesert. So far, she has around 32K followers.

“Ever since I became a mother, it’s just become my life and I enjoy it and love every minute,” she said in an interview with the Daily Mail in January 2021.

“Even though I have so many kids, I’m the type who will be sad when I have my last one and want to cherish each moment.”

As of her future baby, she told The Sun, “We’re so excited as we had wanted 12. I’m very thankful that it’s happening, and the kids are still going to be close in age.”

What a beautiful family!

Wayne Newton today: Age, net worth, family, career

Out of all the huge names who have performed on the stages of the Sin City over the years, including Elvis Presley and “The Rat Pack,” only one got to be named “Mr. Las Vegas,” the one and only Wayne Newton.

Newton was born on April 3, 1942 in Roanoke, Virginia and grew up on a farm with his parents and his brother. He experienced health issued from early age, including bronchial asthma, especially during winters. This forced the family to move places and that’s something Newton has been feeling guilty over until this very day.

“The minute winter would set in, I would get sick,” Wayne recalled in his autobiography Once Before I Go, as reported by Bear Family Records. “Maybe that’s when my parents started to pay more attention to my brother. They may have felt they should show my brother more notice since they spent so much time nursing me.”

Once in Arizona, his health improved drastically. “Even though the hurt was never verbalized, I felt it. It was as if I were a burden. At night I would lie in bed and think how they were giving up everything they ever wanted because of me,” he wrote. “For my parents, it meant tearing up their roots and leaving everything they had known behind.”

Although he left Virginia behind, it was there that he fell in love with the stage. He recalled seeing Hank Williams and Kitty Wells during a Grand Ole Opry show in Roanoke and that’s when he knew what his calling was, although he was still just a little child back then.

“That’s what I want to do,” Newton told his mother. “What?” she asked. “That,” he answered, pointing to the stage.

When he turned 6, Newton and his brother already had their own radio show back in Roanoke which people loved.

Learning how to play the guitar all by himself from early age, Newton was destined to become a huge name in the entertainment industry. At the age of 15, Newton and his brother Jerry performed as part of The Lew King Ranger Show in Arizona and that was the start of a career which spans more than 6 decades.

His first ever show in Las Vegas was at the Fremont Hotel & Casino where he and Jerry performed six shows a night.

“No matter what you were doing in a casino, you had to be 21, so I needed a work permit at age 15,” he told Closer. “So people really took me in to raise me, and made sure I stayed out of trouble and didn’t go down the wrong path.”

At “The entertainment capital of the world,” Newton got to learn from the best in the business.

“What I learned from people that befriended me like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and on and on is that the one thing that will make you happy is your ability to adjust to life,” he said. “And you must be disciplined and treat every show like it’s your last one — because one day it will be!”

There were times when Newton did up to 36 weeks of performances without taking a day off. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that he is dubbed “Mr. Las Vegas.”

“[The nickname] came from a writer who came through Vegas to review a show. At the end of his review, he wrote: ‘Wayne Newton is truly Mr. Las Vegas’,” Newton told Review Journal. “All of a sudden, I was doing shows in Chicago or Denver and they would say, ‘Mr. Las Vegas opens tonight.’ That one really stuck — and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Newton went on to make his own music and had some huge hits over the years, including Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast, Years, and his vocal version of Red Roses for a Blue Lady. At the same time, he tried himself in acting and landed a role in the 1989 James Bond movie License to Kill, in which he starred alongside Timothy Dalton.

Being 79 doesn’t stop Newton from performing. In fact, he says that he doesn’t know any other way than being on stage.

When it comes to his personal life, what we know of this incredible entertainer is that he was married twice. He first tied the knot back in 1968 with wife Elaine Okamura. The two split after 17 years and have a daughter together, Erin. Then, in 1994, Newton married his current wife Kathleen McCrone, an attorney whom he met during one of his shows. They welcomed daughter Ashley in 2002.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, Newton has a net worth of $50 million.

The ongoing pandemic slowed things down for most performers, and Newton isn’t an exception. He reported back in May 2021 that his show at the Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace had been shut down, but he remains part of the Caesars Entertainment company.

From what we can see, Newton can’t imagine his life without his shows and doesn’t plan to quit what he loves doing any time soon.

“I’m still able to physically do what I want to do on stage and sound the way I want to sound and sing the way I want to sing and on and on and on,” he told the Morning Call. “And to be able to walk out and see the happiness that those songs bring people, I think, is what keeps me waking up in the morning.”

We are glad Newton is still very active. He truly is a legend in his own right.

Amazon driver helps grandma with dementia get home after she wanders off

According to the World Health Organization, the number of people who live with dementia worldwide is 55 million.

This condition affects person’s brain cells and that leads to the loss of cognitive functioning, including thinking, remembering, and reasoning, sometimes to the extent that it interferes with their daily activities.

Gigi, a 92-year-old lady from New Jersey who has advanced dementia, wandered off from her home one day.

She was lost and confused and had no idea how to get back.

Situations like these can be very scary both for those affected with the condition and their loved ones. Lost and confused elderly individuals can easily find themselves in trouble. They can become victims of muggers, or even get hit by a vehicle.

Luckily for Gigi, she got noticed by someone with a heart of gold who wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her.

The man in question was an Amazon driver named Wilmar. He realized Gigi was lost and got out of the van in order to try to assist her. When he noticed she had a bracelet on her wrist with information about who she was and who to contact, he knew she had dementia or a similar condition.

Wilmar called Gigi’s granddaughter, Karen, who at that time was driving to the hospital to pick her mother up from the doctor’s, and told her how the elderly lady was lost. Karen sent Wilmar their home address and he was kind enough to take Gigi home.

Later, when Karen saw the camera footage of her front door, she saw Wilmar holding her grandma’s hand as he assisted her getting into the house.

In an interview with Ring, the good Samaritan revealed, “I was delivering and I saw this older lady was walking by. She waved at me, which isn’t an odd occurrence, people wave at you all the time as an Amazon driver. But she was waving at me like something happened. I noticed how she had this wristband on. And it had her name and her information, as well as who to contact.”

Karen expressed her gratitude to Wilmar. “I felt that Wilmar went above and beyond. We have that type of a great close-knit community here, that if there’s something that a driver’s going to spot, that’s out of line, he’s going to say, ‘I’m going to make sure that my customers are taken care of, because this doesn’t look right,” she shared with Ring.

Gigi isn’t the only person suffering from dementia in the family. Karen’s father is aslo affected by this condition and Karen doesn’t have it easy taking care of them, and that is why the unexpected help from others comes in handy.

Once this story was shared online, people couldn’t help by praise Wilmar’s kind act.

“That driver should be commended. He was in the right place at the right time, but he easily could have kept on driving. This proves there are angels on earth,” one person wrote. “This man was a true hero. To this lady he was a Miracle sent to her and her family!! God bless this man,” another person added.

Queen Elizabeth responds after photos of little girl dressed as her surface online

Halloween! What’s not to love about this amazing holiday? It is that time of the year when you can dress up however you want without being judged and have lots of fun by the way.

Well, 2-year-old Jalayne from Ohio decided to be Her Majesty, The Queen. In fact, it was her mom Katelyn Sutherland who made that splendid decision and created the costume relying solely on her creativity.

The cute little queen wore a curled wig which her mom attached to the floral hat using glue, a powder-blue coat, and gloves. The fashionable brooch, and the tiny clutch bag only made the resemblance to Queen Elizabeth more striking. However, we all have to agree that this genuinely creative outfit was best topped off with Jalayne two corgis.

The little lady also wore some beautiful pearls and was totally ready to go trick or treating. Needless to say, she attracted the attention of everyone around. Katelyn revealed that many people who found the outfit cute even greeted her daughter with “Your Majesty” as they passed by her.

Realizing just how much everyone enjoyed the costume, Katelyn shared photos of Jalayne on her Facebook. Little did she know the photos would go viral.

After the numerous comments from a huge number of people, Katelyn decided to send one of the photos to Queen Elizabeth II. To her surprise, The Palace responded.

The reply letter they got from Windsor Castle said, “The Queen quite enjoyed the splendid outfit.” Wow, just imagine what it must feel like to receive such kind words from the Queen herself and put a smile on her face.

Speaking to Inside Edition about the remarkable outfit which was dubbed “the best they have ever seen” by many, Katelyn said that it all started with the corgis which her daughter loves so very much. “The dogs are our daughter’s best friends,” she shared with The Sun and added, “We wanted to do something where they could all be included together. We are most definitely fans of the royal family and truly admire how the queen walks by faith.”

People couldn’t help but share their thoughts on Jalayne’s costume. “I adore Queen Elizabeth and that little girl is as sweet as she could be with her two corgis I’m sure that put a smile on Queen Elizabeth’s face,” one person wrote.

“Long live her royal cuteness…Best Halloween costume of the year by far,” another added.

Brendan Fraser says action movies took toll on him but he’s now rebuilding his career

Hollywood is the place where dreams come true, but at the same time, it’s the place where many of those dreams get shattered like glass.

For Brendan Fraser, the actor who is probably best known for the trilogy Mummy and George of the Jungle, the world of entertainment wasn’t all about glamour. He experienced both fame and failure, and today, after everything he’s gone through, he’s regaining his popularity.

Fraser had his debut in the movie industry back in 1991 with the film Dogfight. He was 23 at the time.

Starring in action movies, however, took its toll and he could feel like his body was falling apart. Sadly, that’s when everything started going south for Fraser who was once a celebrated actor.

In an interview with GQ in 2018, Fraser revealed, “By the time I did the third Mummy picture in China,” “I was put together with tape and ice—just, like, really nerdy and fetishy about ice packs. Screw-cap ice packs and downhill-mountain-biking pads, ’cause they’re small and light and they can fit under your clothes. I was building an exoskeleton for myself daily.”

Fraser opened up about his career and said, “I felt like the horse from Animal Farm, whose job it was to work and work and work. Orwell wrote a character who was, I think, the proletariat. He worked for the good of the whole, he didn’t ask questions, he didn’t make trouble until it killed him.… I don’t know if I’ve been sent to the glue factory, but I’ve felt like I’ve had to rebuild sh*t that I’ve built that got knocked down and do it again for the good of everyone. Whether it hurts you or not.”

Another event that affected his life drastically was the divorce from his wife and the mother of his three children, Afton Smith.

The actor claimed he was “blacklisted” by Hollywood after he opened up about an assault he suffered from a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, as per Celebrity Nine. Apparently, this incident had to do a lot with his decision to withdraw from Hollywood.

In recent, years, however, to everyone’s delight, 53-year-old Fraser is slowly but steadily rebuilding his career. In 2016, he appeared in the award-winning Showtime TV series The Affair in which he played menacing prison guard John Gunther, in season 3. This role was of great significance for him because it reminded everyone of how great of an actor Fraser truly is.

He’s also granted himself a role in the upcoming feature film Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese in which he will stare alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Other upcoming films in what was described by TV Guide as a “Brennaisance” are Brothers, a remake of the famous film Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, Batgirl, and The Whale.

In 2021, Fraser appeared in No Sudden Move by Steven Spielberg, so it’s safe to say that a huge comeback by one of the actors who marked the 90’s and 00’s in on the way and we can’t wait.

From what we know of his private life is that Fraser is single and lives with his horse Pecas he saved from a movie set in Mexico.

He is aware people are cheering for him and he loves it!

Cindy Crawford’s daughter, model Kaia Gerber, is the spitting image of her mother

Thanks to her enchanting beauty and her passion for modeling, model and fitness guru Cindy Crawford took the world by storm the moment she appeared on the runway. Even today, she’s considered by many the most beautiful woman who has ever walked this Earth.

What we all love about Crawford, I guess, is her boldness to speak up openly of the rigid rules the fashion industry imposes on the models. What we see on the outside is a world filled with luxury, but the truth is that modeling is quite a competitive industry that requires dedication and perseverance.

Knowing all this, Crawford was extremely cautious when her daughter, Kaia Gerber, decided to pursue a career as a model and follow in her famous mother’s footsteps.

Shutterstock

Crawford was born on February 20, 1966, in DeKalb, Illinois. She was an excellent student and was class valedictorian when graduating high school. After high school, she pursued a degree in chemical engineering at Northwestern University, but dropped out so that she could focus on her modeling career.

One thing that makes Crawford special, besides her beauty and intellect, is the mole above her lip. In the past, she hated it because her sisters would often say it was an ugly mark, but she eventually got to love it and it became her trademark. When she was first featured on the cover of Vogue without them retouching it off, she said to herself, “If it was good enough for Vogue, it’s fine.”

“I feel like for me, so many women have beauty marks and when they saw me on the cover of Vogue or in a magazine with my beauty mark it made them feel more comfortable about their own beauty marks,” she said in the Naomi Campbell interview.

“And it made them remember me. It became the thing that set me apart in a weird way. So often the thing that we see that sets us apart and we’re insecure about, it becomes the very thing that makes us stand out. And I think that was a big lesson for me.”

Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia (in her lap) joined childhood cancer survivors during Childrens Hospital Los Angeles’ 11th Annual “Celebrate Life” day at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, Saturday, June 11, 2005.

Over the years, Crawford taught many young models to learn to love themselves the way they are.

Crawford married actor Richard Gere in 1991, but they divorced four years later. In 1998, she married her current husband and the father of her two children, businessman Rande Gerber.

Being children to a celebrity and one of the best and most influential models, Crawford’s children, son Presley Walker Gerber, and daughter Kaia Gerber, have lived under the limelight from the moment they were born. The two appeared in a Pepsi commercial along with their mother and Kaia loved it so much that she decided to become a model herself.

What is special about Kaia is that she’s a spitting image of her mom, and just like her, she dived into the world of modeling from very young age.

“When Kaia started to model, she jumped right into it, loved it, and immediately wanted to do everything,” Cindy Crawford told Vogue. “I was very protective at first, and I traveled with her to fashion month. But Kaia has her head on straight.”

Speaking of the uncanny resemblance, Kaia told Vice, “As a child I never thought I looked like my mom, I never really imagined it was something I could do. My mom never pushed it on me. Then, as I started to get older, people began approaching me to start modeling and I was very skeptical.

“It’s hard enough growing up, as a woman, with all those changes you go through as a teenager… to do that in the public eye is really scary. You need to be really confident.”

Beautiful Kaia was featured in the Italian Vogue when she was just 13, and from that moment on, all eyes have been on her. She has done shows and runways for some of the most famous brands in the industry, including Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, and Karl Lagerfeld.

Shutterstock

Being the daughter of Cindy Crawford, Kaia is expected to be as great as her mother, and so far, she proved she is, although she does have big shoes to fill.

“I’m very aware of the special circumstances I entered the industry under. I have so much respect for young women who come into fashion from less privileged positions: you know maybe they don’t speak English, maybe they’re sending money back home to support their families?,” Kaia told Vice. “They have this pressure that I could never speak on. There are girls who I started with, who I’ve seen grow and get stronger, and I admire all of them so much.”

During the last two years, with the ongoing pandemic, 20-year-old Kaia is spending most of her days with her family in their home in Malibu, California.“We have a sort of compound with a garden, and a big lawn, and the beach that we could go to every day,” she told Vogue. “I’m not blind to the fact that we’ve been incredibly blessed.”

When it comes to her personal life, Kaia dated Australian actor Jacob Elordi from August 2020 to November 2021, as per Harper’s Bazaar.

She won Model of The Year at the 2018 British Fashion Awards.
