9-year-old boy has his worst birthday ever after lunch lady humiliates him over $9 debt

Birthdays are those special milestones that remind us how we successfully completed another trip around the sun. Children, however, are most joyous when their birthday comes around because that means having a party and a cake.

A boy named Jefferson Sharpnack from Green, Ohio, was looking forward to celebrating his 9th birthday. He was at school that day and hoped to have some fun with his schoolmates. Little did he know, however, that what was supposed to be a special occasion would turn into a sad day for him.

During the school break, he went to the school cafeteria to have his lunch. But just as he got it, the food was abruptly taken away from his tray. The reason? His grandmother failed to pay the $9 bill for school lunch.

“I got my cheesy breadsticks and put in my number,” the boy told WEWS. “And when I was going to check out, the lunch lady didn’t say anything, took away my cheesy breadsticks and sauce, put them over there, and took out bread on cheese from the fridge and put it on my tray.”

Source: YouTube

When he returned home later that day, Jefferson told his grandma that he had the “worst birthday ever.”

In a statement released regarding the incident, the school stated that “students who are $15 or more in debt” are given an alternative lunch.

Jefferson’s grandma, Diane Bailey, said that when her grandson came home with a notice about his lunch debt, she called that same moment and believed the issue was resolved.

No matter the debt, the school was required to provide Jefferson with free and reduced lunch. Instead, they publicly shamed him and made him feel bad in front of the rest of the students.

“In my mind, he didn’t owe anything,” Diane said. “I owed the money, the parents, the school district.

“If they take the food off of your tray, they have to throw it away,” Diane added. “You would take the food off a tray and you can’t re-serve it? You’re going to throw it away and not feed the child? That doesn’t make sense to me.”

This isn’t the first case of parents speaking out about their children being “lunch shamed” at school.

As per the Washington Post, the district superintendent announced Monday that there would be a change in policy: “All students enrolled in PreK through twelfth grades will receive the standard lunch for the day at their respective buildings regardless of their account balance.”

A spokesperson for the district further said that “our administration felt strongly that the time to make a change in our lunch guidelines was now and the change took place today.”

We are so very sorry that Jefferson’s birthday didn’t turn out as planned and we hope no other child would be “lunch shamed” ever again.

Hidden security camera films cop in an elevator, he thinks no one is watching him

Most people believe that police officers are serious and never have fun. The truth is that their job is demanding and challenging. They provide emergency services, make sure civilians obey the law, investigate crimes and accidents, arrest criminals, and a lot more.

This is the reason why we are always stunned to see these professionals do fun stuff, just like Deputy Tony Scherb, who has recently retired from his service the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado.

Being a dedicated professional loved by many, Deputy Scherb was thrown a party by his colleagues who wanted to thank him for his 29 years of service.

He left legacy behind, but he never thought that some of that legacy would make him a celebrity online.

Namely, a video of him dancing at the elevator was shared on Facebook and people loved it. It is so beautiful to see how music makes this man follow the rhythm and show some moves like no one’s watching.

The elevator was malfunctioning for some time, and the repairment included installing a camera, something Deputy Scherb probably wasn’t aware of.

As he enters the elevator and pushes the button, he is stunned to hear “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” start playing. The music is enough for Deputy Scherb to show his dancing skills.

The hilarity continues as the elevator stops at different floors and some of his colleagues enter the elevator.

This video will definitely make your day.

“This is how work should feel everyday, blessings and Protection to these officer’s, Rock on!!!” one person commented. “Never take life so seriously that you can’t have a little fun throughout the day sometime and laugh that stress off! My hat off to them!!!,” another added.

Al Pacino admits he’s made mistakes after having twins with ex partner

Few actors can say they have reached the fame of Al Pacino. With the roles in classics such as The Godfather and Scarface, he has forever cemented his place in Hollywood.

This living legend was born in New York in 1940 as the only child of immigrants from Sicily. When he was very young, his parents split and he was raised by his mother and his grandparents at the east coast.

“My grandfather, James Gerardi, taught me about work,” Pacino told The Guardian.

“He was a plasterer, and work – any kind of work – was the joy of his life. So I grew up wanting to – it’s what I’ve always chased. The joy of work is what keeps me going.

“The conclusion of my teachers was that I needed a dad. I wasn’t an out-of-control teenager, but I was close. My parents divorced when I was two, and my father wasn’t in my life from then. I wanted to be different with my children.”

During his childhood, Pacino’s grandma would often take him to the movies and that’s when he fell in love with acting. His mother realized how much it meant to her son so she encouraged him to get involved into acting at school. During an occasion, when Pacino took part in a school production of Home Sweet Homicide at the age of 13, someone approached his mother and told her her son was the next Marlon Brando.

When he turned 16, Pacino’s relationship with his mother turned bad because she got ill and couldn’t work so he was forced to do various jobs which kept him away from acting.

“My mother had to stop working because of her health, and I had to support her. It was then that she took a realistic look at my prospects and became very negative about my acting,” he told the Los Angeles Times in 1973.

After dropping from the High School of Performing Arts due to poor grades, Pacino started school once again. This time, he attended Herbert Berghof Studio where he was taught theater. Eventually, in 1966, he was accepted into the Actors Studio.

Pacino received a Tony Award for best supporting role in a Broadway production which led to a role in the film The Panic in Needle Park.

The start of Pacino’s rise to stardom came with the role of Michael Corleone in the legendary mob film, The Godfather. All of a sudden, all eyes were on Al Pacino who became a huge star every director and producer wanted to work with.

Over the course of his career, Pacino earned nine Academy Award nominations and received an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Scent of a Woman.

Pacino has three children, but he never married. What’s most, his private life has been quite complicated. The actor welcomed his first child, daughter Julie Marie, with acting coach Jan Tarrant, whom he dated for a year. In 1997, he got romantically involved with Beverley D’Angelo, the mother of his twins. They both said that they wanted to have children together just mere months after meeting each other. D’Angelo gave birth to Anton James and Olivia Rose at the age of 49, in 2001.

“I got pregnant at 48, delivered six weeks after I was 49, and by 51, I was looking at a landscape as a single parent,” D’Angelo said of her life after separating from the actor.

Pacino and D’Angelo’s relationship turned bitter as the two fought for the custody of their children. He even accused his former partner of treating the toddlers “like hostages.”

Things turned even worse when she decided to leave New York and move the children to her native Los Angeles. Eventually, the two came to terms and are doing all in their power to be the best parents. The actor spends his days both in New York and L.A.

“Kids changed my perspective. Before I had my three, I’d walk around in my own head, not noticing anything. Acting used to be everything; now, because of them, it’s just a small part,” Al Pacino said.

He admitted he made mistakes, but that only made him a better parent. “I’ll tell you why — out of mistakes, and I’ve made plenty, I’ve learned,” Pacino told Closer in 2015. “Mistakes aren’t quite mistakes unless you slip off a roof. Then you can’t come back.”

Mom in disbelief as park security throws her out because her shorts were too short

When little children are told they are visiting a theme park, what you expect is tears of joy and immense excitement. These places are so magical that even grown ups enjoy every minute spent there.

These places offer fun, but they also expect from the visitors to follow certain rules, such as dress codes among the rest.

What people usually wear are casual clothes, while the little ones can be dressed in a costume of their favorite princess or superheroes.

A mom named Bailey Breedlove shared the story of her recent visit to Six Flags and expressed her disappointment about the way the security staff treated her in front of her crying daughter because of her shorts.

The moment they spotted her, the park security pulled Bailey aside and told her that her shorts were way too short. The mom disagreed and said that it is what people wear on hot days. She was even told to go and buy a new pair of longer shorts.

This angered Bailey especially because the staff yelled at her and told her to identify herself. Her daughter got very scared and started crying as she believed her mother would get arrested.

The entire situation seemed to escalate so Bailey decided to open up about it on social media and ask her TikTok followers if her shorts were really that short and “obscene” as the park security claimed.

Most of the people who took their time to comment on the matter agreed that Bailey was right to be mad at the way she was approached and treated that day.

“Oh those aren’t too short short. I’ve seen shorter,” one person wrote. “So ridiculous, I have seen people wear less at 6 flags, and no one said anything to them. Also, great Pikachu t-shirt!!!” another added.

Bailey later shared her story with Inside Edition as well and gave more details of the incidents that left her shocked and in disbelief.

Every day young boy comes home from school in tears until his father shows up in his classroom

A young boy named Joe, 8, walked to school with his hair in a ponytail. As he entered the classroom, he could hear laughter coming from his classmates.

They all found his long hair a reason to mock him. That broke Joe’s heart, especially because he was growing his hair for a reason.

What affected this boy the most was that the mockery started from his teacher, Mr. Cooper, a man of conservative values. He was the one who encouraged the kids to make fun of Joe’s hair.

The teasing continued in the days that followed and Joe’s parents could see the change in their son’s eyes. He cried a lot and didn’t want to tell them what was bothering him.

The school’s art teacher, Mrs. Burns, who was somewhat new at the school, noticed Joe crying in the bathroom one day. She approached him and encouraged him to tell her what bothered him that much.

It was then that Joe shared his heartbreak and explained that he gets teased every single day.

“You have a beautiful heart. Don’t ever let anyone else change that, okay?” she told him. At that moment, Joe uttered, “But even Mr. Cooper makes fun of me. It’s not fair.” His tears had finally stopped, thanks to her kindness. “Some people will always be bullies even when they grow up. I’ll try to talk to him,” Mrs. Burns replied, patting his shoulder.

“Don’t tell him why. He doesn’t deserve to know anything. This is my thing,” Joe requested, looking at the teacher with his earnest eyes.
“Of course. This will be between you and me. But what you are doing is nothing to be ashamed of,” the teacher assured him.
“Still. I don’t want them to know,” the little boy insisted, to which Mrs. Burns nodded with a slight grin.

Over the course of the next couple of days, Mrs. Burns brought the subject of Joe’s hair with other teachers and it looked like most of them didn’t approve of it. One of them, Mrs. Figgins, said, “If he’s allowed to grow his hair out at eight years old, he’s going to become a hoodlum in high school. Kids, especially boys, need discipline at this age.”

As she knew she needed to do something about Joe’s condition, Mrs. Burns decided to call Joe’s father and explain to him what was going on.

Once he learned what caused his son’s unhappiness, his dad, Patrick, said, “Your teacher, Mrs. Burns, just called. She told me everything. Are the kids making fun of you? Is that why you’ve been crying every day after school?” Patrick asked as he kneeled before his son while looking straight into the boy’s eyes.

“It’s not just my friends. Mr. Cooper is the worst,” Joe revealed, leaving his dad in a state of shock.

Patrick knew Mr. Cooper and he looked like a nice man so his behavior towards Joe was something this dad couldn’t understand.

Patrick then asked Joe why he didn’t shared with his classmates the reason why he was growing his hair. Joe said it wasn’t any of their business, and Patrick agreed. No matter the reason, how they treated Joe was unacceptable.

“You are completely right, kid. But you know something. I believe it’s time to cut that hair. You’ve finally reached the required length, and I have a plan,” Patrick said, revealing he was proud that his son reached his goal.

Joe’s mother then cut her son’s hair while Patrick recorded the special moment.

When Joe went to school the following day, it was Mr. Cooper who greeted him at the door, but he wasn’t aware Patrick was there too. “Finally, Joe! You no longer look like a girl!” he told Joe. When he realized Patrick was there too, Mr. Cooper said, “Oh! Mr. Perkins! So, you finally got your kid a haircut? Congrats!” as he extended his hand to shake Patrick’s.

However, instead of a shake, Patrick took his phone out as he had something very important to show to the teacher who treated his son badly. The video they took the previous night started playing and Mr. Cooper was stunned by what he saw.

“Mr. Cooper, I understand you have been encouraging the jokes against my son. I would’ve never imagined that from you, sir,” Patrick said.

“I had no idea he would be donating his hair to cancer patients,” the teacher uttered with a shaky voice. “Yeah, well. Joe didn’t want to tell anyone until he reached his goal. We visited a children’s hospital and did some volunteer work last April. He loved it and started growing his hair right away. But this school year, he started coming home in tears because everyone made fun of him, including his teacher. Do you think that’s fair, sir?” Joe’s father reprimanded the older man, who was obviously ashamed of his actions.

“I’m… so sorry, Joe. Mr. Perkins, I had no idea. My… granddaughter just went through several rounds of chemo, and she lost all her hair. My son and daughter-in-law had communicated with this foundation that makes wigs from donations,” the teacher revealed as he spoke with a soft voice and teary eyes.

“Thank you, kid. Not all heroes wear capes,” Mr. Cooper told Joe. “I was so wrong. Please, forgive me.”

That day, Joe was the hero of his own story. The rest of the class were asking him a bunch of questions and were looking at him with admiration. Some were even eager to do the same because the cause was truly a special one.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Miley Cyrus for her tragic loss

Losing a dog is like losing a member of the family, because our furry pals are exactly that, family.

Singer Miley Cyrus shared the devastating news of her dog’s passing.

The Pit Bull mix named Mary Jane was a rescue dog. Miley gave her a new lease on life and Mary Jane sure did know how to express her gratitude; by being the best dog one could ever ask for.

The “Midnight Sky” singer shared that her beloved dog was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago. Sharing an Instagram story, she wrote, “Anyone who knows me, and it doesn’t have to be well, is aware that my dearest buddy in the whole world is a rescued pit bull mix named Mary Jane,” before she talked about the dog’s medical condition. “It wasn’t the first time someone had told me to take my time appreciating her one-of-a-kind character, so the advice didn’t come as a surprise. I had been for the previous decade.”

The singer continued her post saying that it is simple to “take things for granted” and “let minor miracles pass you by without moments of thankfulness,” but that she “never once did I forget the gift I had been given” when Mary Jane was part of her life.

“As she exhaled her last breath, I thanked her over and over again for everything she had done for me and everything she had been to me. It was something more significant than a friend or a member of the family. Something entirely new and different. You can’t define it.

“Our communication was really heavenly. An unmatched affection,” the singer added. “We have never been intentionally damaging to one another by anything we have said or done. We have never had an argument and then gone to bed angry. Our allegiance has never for a moment faltered.”

Mary Jane was always there when Miley’s heart was broken and helped heal it every time.

The singer made sure she did everything in her power to provide a pain-free life for Mary Jane during the last days of her life, as much as it was possible.

“Despite the fact that she is no longer in pain, I am. That is the essence of love,” she further wrote. “Mary Jane’s passing was marked by dignity, grace, calm, and power. She treated everyone with kindness and compassion as her guiding principles throughout life. She could be courageous when she needed to be, but never for an extended period of time.

“She would never allow the door to her soul to be shut. She led such a transparent life. The ability to love and to be loved, “She went on to say more. “Oh, that Mary Jane were more representative of all of us!”

He proposed to her with a diamond ring, she took to social media to complain about it

Finding the one and getting married is something most girls dream of. Well, who doesn’t want to wear a beautiful gown as they walk down the aisle and say “I do” to the person that means the world to them?

Of course, the act of proposing is a very meaningful one as well.

One woman took to the social media to share how her boyfriend of many years finally popped the question. She was waiting for that moment and was over the moon. He was her soulmate and she was certain he loved her to the moon and back.

However, there was something that bothered her, and she wasn’t certain if she should tell him or simply keep quiet.

It was the size and the value of her engagement ring. What she expected was a big diamond, but received a small one.

Writing on Reddit, she explained that money wasn’t the issue here because her boyfriend was making plenty of money, and yet, he only spent around 1,300 pounds for her ring. She added that she was a bit disappointed by the size, but when she accidentally found the receipt, her disappointment grew bigger.

Did he believe she wasn’t worth for a much expensive ring?

She now asked fellow Redditors whether she should have even brought the question in front of her boyfriend or simply keep it quiet.

As expected, some believed she did deserve a bigger diamond while some called her egoistical, selfish, and much worse.

What are your thoughts on this?

70-year-old teacher who never had a birthday party hears someone yell her name from the street

Agnes Lloyd, a faculty teacher, was about to reach a milestone. She was turning 70 years old that year, but as her birthday approached, her heart ached more and more.

During all those years, this woman has never had blown a birthday candle, nor she was ever given a cake. Her parents were pretty poor and didn’t have the money for birthday parties. When she got married at the age of 18, Agnes and her husband focused all their time and energy on their studies, and when their children came into their lives, she only cared for their well-being and celebrated their birthdays, never revealing her own.

As years went by, the subject of her birthday became a topic that caused sadness at Agnes.

Then, one day, one of her students, a young man named Christian, asked her when her birthday was.

“Well, my birthday is not important, guys. I don’t really celebrate it all,” she told her students, scrunching her nose and shaking her head.

“But you have to celebrate it. How old are you turning this year?” Christian inquired, to the surprise of the rest of the students. He looked around the class, confused. “What? Is that rude?”

“It’s a little rude to ask how old an older woman is. But I’ll tell you. I’m turning 70 this year, and it’s just going to be another regular day,” she replied, laughing at Christian’s innocence.

“That’s a big milestone! Are your children coming?” another student asked, to what Agnes shook her head. Her children never celebrated her birthday.

On the day she reached 70, Agnes felt sad. Despite her doctor’s warnings not to consume much sugar, she made a plan to buy herself cheesecake.

But then, as she left the classroom and headed towards the parking lot, she noticed her students and some of the faculty members were gathered where her car was parked. Then, out of the blue, Christian presented her with a cake and candles which formed number 70.

She couldn’t believe they could have surprised her like that. Agnes was overwhelmed. After that many years, she blew birthday candles for the first time ever, and she was happy.

As they all sang ‘Happy Birthday,’ the students moved a bit and Agnes saw her children. She didn’t speak to them very often so she was surprised to see them there.

“You guys! How did this happen? What are you doing here?” Agnes finally asked her children.

“The principal called us and said that your students were planning this little surprise for you. That it was going to be a small and quick thing, but they wondered if we wanted to come,” Linda explained.

“Linda called to ask me if I wanted to go, and that’s when we realized we had never celebrated your birthday. Ever. Ever. We called Jordan, and he couldn’t remember if we had either,” Kiara chimed in.

“We’re so sorry, Mom. We should’ve celebrated and called and checked in. It’s not a good feeling when you realize that your mother’s students care more for her than you. So we had to come,” Jordan explained, shrugging his shoulders.

“Oh, kids, it’s ok!” Agnes told them as she gave them all a hug.

They explained that Agnes’ grandchildren were waiting for her at home. They bought a cake and decorated her place.

Agnes felt like the most special person on Earth, and she indeed was one.
