81-year-old man forced out of woods and jailed after living in a cabin “off the grid” for nearly three decades

David Lidstone, known as ‘River Dave,’ ended up in jail on July 15 and now his life story is going viral. Namely, this man has been living in a cabin placed in the woods of New Hampshire for over 27 years. There, on a tiny part of the 73 acres of land, he created his own little heaven, with a small garden where he grows his own fruits and vegetables, and has his chickens.

Now, the land’s owner, 86-year-old Leonard Giles, has reported Lidstone of squatting, although he only learned he was living there back in 2015.

Sadly, while in jail, Lidstone’s cabin had caught on fire, and the veteran and a father-of-four was told his place was destroyed. The blaze is currently investigated by authorities, as reported by the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.

River Dave was told he would be able to get out of jail in three terms. He either agrees to leave, the land’s owner knock down his cabin, or 30 days pass without any action. Now that his cabin is no longer there, judge ruled he can be released.

One thing is certain, Lidstone isn’t planning on leaving the place he called home for the last three decades. “I will sit here until I rot, or I will go home,” he said, as per AP News.

Most of his belongings had been taken out of the cabin before the mysterious fire took place and no animals were spotted nearby, neither leaving nor deceased.

As his story went viral, a huge number of people offered their land and cabins for him to live in.

At the same time, a petition for him to get back to his old place has been organized and over 6250 people have signed it so far. “He is a veteran, a local legend, a homesteader and most importantly human being,” petition organizer Tyler Groves wrote.

“I’d like to petition for Dave to spend his years on the land. He’s always willing to help anyone coming down the river and he always has fresh produce or eggs for the campers.

“He shouldn’t owe anybody anything. The property he’s on has a verbal agreement that he could stay there for the remainder of his life but however there is no proof of it how ever he’s been on the piece of land for over two decades with no harm to anyone.”

Lidstone’s estranged brother, Vincent, said: “What they’re doing to him isn’t right for anybody, whether he’s my brother or anybody’s brother. He’s 81 years old. Leave him alone.”

Jodie Gedeon, a kayaker and and one of Lidstone’s friends added “He’s just a really, really, big caring guy, and just chooses to live off the grid… it really is about humanity, it really is about compassion, empathy… he’s not hurting anybody.”

During all those years, Lidstone has been living peacefully, and to take his home from him at this age is so unfair. We hope he will find a way to build his cabin there again.

Tenants refuse to pay rent and leave tons of mess in former home – Landlord gets the revenge

Thomas Ravaux is a landlord who knows how hard it really is to find the perfect tenants who wouldn’t ruin the place and will pay the rent on time. What he experienced with the last family that rented his place is downright unpleasant and left people wonder how can someone live in such a mess and so much clutter around.

The tenants didn’t pay rent for the past 14 months so Thomas decided to pay them a visit and try to find a solution to the problem, but once he opened the doors of the house he was totally disgusted by what he came to. The place was so filthy and disorganized that he could barely pass through the hallway and into the rooms.

He immediately called his lawyer and made another call, to a dump truck company. The only thing he could do was to take things in his hands and teach the irresponsible family a lesson.

Thomas shared the photos of what he stumbled upon on his Facebook page, saying:

“This is how this flat was returned to me. Living like that with three kids, bravo. Not to mention the food that has gone bad in the fridge. Food offered to you by restaurant owners from their heart!

Shame on you. Good luck to your new landlord.”

People who got to see the actual conditions in which the parents were raising their children were worried for the kids’ well-being.

Facebook/Thomas Ravaux

The only logical solution Thomas could think of was to pack up the garbage and the debris and simply dump it in front of the ex-tenants’ new place. He believed that should teach them good behavior and hoped they will never again do that to any other landlord.

He told France Info that initially he was reconsidering that decision, but local police authorities assured him he won’t get into trouble for the garbage wasn’t his to deal with.

“It was carnage inside. Everything was totally destroyed. The carpet is messed up, there are holes in the walls, all the paintwork needs re-doing, and we will need to disinfect it all. The smell is unbearable. I had a legal representative witness the damage before we emptied the place…

Then I loaded everything into a dumpster and brought them back home…

I met the authorities and we talked… For now, I’m not worried… The old tenants had to clear the sidewalk and bring everything to the dump Tuesday night. Everything is cleaned.”

People love his dramatic move.

“I’ve received a lot of reactions, all in my favor. Everyone supports me!”

We hope this story will teach a lesson not only Thomas’ tenants but any other person out there. If something isn’t ours, it doesn’t mean we can destroy it. We are glad they didn’t get away with it.

Granny gets hilarious revenge on driver who wouldn’t stop honking at her while crossing the street

As people grow old, they usually feel the need to take things slowly because their bodies are not as strong as they used to be. Many have troubles perform even the most basic tasks such as going to the store and running errands.

What we should do in such cases is be patient and let them take all the time they need. We, as a society, should do all in our power to facilitate the life of the elderly people. Sadly, not everyone is considerate towards them.

An elderly lady was trying to cross the road, and she was obviously having troubles walking. However, the person waiting for her to pass wouldn’t stop honking at her. This made the lady mad so she decided to teach him a lesson.

The people who witnessed the incident were left in stitches by the lady’s act. This teaches us that we should never mess with old people because they’ve been around way longer than us and know a lot more.

Check the video below and see the lady’s sweet revenge.

Simon Cowell’s “The X Factor” to be canceled after 17 years

Simon Cowell is a music mogul. Over the years, his talent shows made him staggering amounts of money, and the celebrity judge and producer is believed to have a net worth of over $600 million. He, however, spends a good portion of it by donating to various charities. This year only, he gave $1.5 million to the organizations Feed the World and Feed Britain.

Despite his enormous success, 2021 seemed not to be Cowell’s year. Not only because of the pandemic which affected the entire world, but because of the accident he suffered. Cowell fell off his electric bike and injured his back. He had undergone a surgery, and luckily, he was able to get on his feet again.

One would assume that it would be difficult for someone who had experienced such a terrible accident to be able to get on a bike again, but Cowell isn’t someone who gets afraid easily.

Speaking to TMZ, he said: “First of all, I bought a crazy, crazy bike. Even though [the bike he had his accident on] had pedals on, this is not what I would call an electric bike.

“The one I had was basically a motorcycle with an electric engine when you have to wear a proper crash helmet, leathers. This thing was nuts,” he added. “I didn’t know how powerful it was before I got on it. And I fly 6-8 feet in the air and landed on my spine.”

Now he’s driving one again, but a bit different than the one he fell off of.

One of Cowell’s most famous talent shows, The X Factor, will likely be canceled. Speculations about it started circulating back in 2020, and now an ITV spokesperson said in a statement as reported by Variety: “There are no current plans for the next series of ‘The X Factor’ at this stage.

“It’s not definitely returning, it might return, and if it does the format will tweak,” ITV managing director Kevin Lygo said. “Simon controls it more than we do. When does he want it to come back, how does he want to come back? Hopefully we can be part of it.”

Youtube/America’s Got Talent

The good things is that the media mogul has a plenty of other projects coming up. As per Deadline, Cowell will be part of a panel of judges for the brand new show Walk The Line, which will be a combination of a talent contest and game elements. Cowell himself said of it that it will have “viewers on the edge of their seats.”

“We wanted to develop a show which will give the contestants a life-changing cash prize if they win,” he explained. “Each show there will be a champion who must make a vital decision: either cash out then and there or stay in the contest to compete again the following night and have a chance to claim the huge prize.”

We are looking forward to this show as well as seeing Cowell as a judge on America’s Got Talent.

Bus driver breaks the rules by letting shivering dogs on board during heavy rain

This sends me in tears!

The sound of thunder and heavy rain accompanied by frequent flashes of blinding bolts of bright lights usually sends any animal, regardless of species, to hide for cover. It could be under couches, blankets, tables or even in our arms. Thunderstorms are terrifying for most animals, and it is especially so for those who live a hard life on the streets.

Unlike house dogs, stray canines do not have the luxury of having a warm spot in a cozy environment to snuggle up in. Instead, they remain stuck on the cold and hard streets, with nothing else other than the pitter-patter of raindrops wetting their fur coats.

This is a heartbreaking sight to see.

The city of Buenos Aires, which is also the capital of Argentina, had been hit with a torrential thunderstorm. One local bus driver had spotted two stranded dogs during his shift, all drenched head to toe in cold rain water and shivering in fear. He did what any human being with a big heart would do – to provide them with shelter.

In the bustling city of Buenos Aires, public transport commuters all know that the rules and regulations of buses functioning in Buenos Aires do not allow any animals on board. However, these rules did not stop one kind-hearted bus driver from protecting the frightened strays during one violent and heavy thunderstorm.

Passengers snapped and shared many photos of the dogs during their ride and on their social media accounts, asking around if anyone was interested in helping or fostering them.

This bus driver’s act of kindness soon got to the management’s attention, which even released a statement reiterating their very strict ‘no animals’ policy. Under this circumstance however, they showed great support for what the driver did for the dogs.

After all, how can one resist not helping our adorable furry friends in times of dire need? We remain truly thankful to this bus driver who has shown great and rare kindness to these animals. Although we are not sure what happened to those dogs after the thunderstorm has settled down, but very hopefully, they are now safely rehomed.

Here at Bored Daddy, we urge all of you to adopt a pet at your local shelter and to not shop. This is to keep our furry friends off the streets and safely in a loving home, where they can stay warm and well-cared for.

The start of The Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation in 2006 marked at the same time the start of the fight against homelessness and poverty and the music star and his wife seem to be winning it.

Their first restaurant was opened in 2011 and if you are ever given the chance to go there, you’ll notice that there aren’t prices listed on the menus. The reason why is because Soul Kitchen is unlike any restaurant out there and not everyone is expected to pay for what they get. The customers, who are mostly people who can’t afford to buy their meal, can choose to volunteer in the restaurant instead. Those who have money, however, are encouraged to donate $20 and help pay for the food of the rest of the customers. The first restaurant is situated in Red Bank, New Jersey, the second one opened in Toms River in New Jersey in 2016, and third one was opened this year on the grounds of Rutgers University. Speaking on NBC Nightly News, Bon Jovi explained why they chose the university as the most suitable location. “Now what we realize is that there were kids in colleges that were hungry,” he said. “And this was a — logical progression. And Rutgers really embraced the concept.” His wife Dorothea added: “People had this romanticized version of the starving student. It’s not as romantic as we would like to think it is.”
The website of Soul Kitchen states how 54% of the meals served were funded by donation, and the rest were funded by volunteer work.

For those who opt to volunteer, the foundation offers professional job coaching, life coaching, financial coaching, and legal advice.

The restaurants take no reservations but work on the principle first-come-first-served. They say, however, that priority is given to those who are struggling financially the most.

The food offered is very tasty and consists of three-course meals. The starter is usually a soup or salad, the main course offered is fish, meat, or vegetarian dish, and finally a dessert. What’s most, the food is prepared by professional chefs with fresh ingredients from the restaurants’ own garden.

Soul Kitchen is described as “a place where individuals or families can come to eat a delicious farm-to-table meal in a warm, welcoming setting and meet our neighbors.”

Baby elephant who was washed away in flood follows his rescuer wherever she goes

The fact that many wild animals become endangered on our watch is sad beyond belief. We are helpless to help a number of species because we sometimes act as though this world belongs only to us, forgetting that it is the home of a huge number of species.

Thankfully, there are people out there who dedicate their lives to saving and protecting different groups of animals. One of them is Roxy Danckwerst, a woman who has spent two decades caring for orphaned animals.

BBC’s Nature’s Miracle Orphans / Youtube

One of the latest members of Roxy’s sanctuary, Wild is Life, is a baby elephant named Moyo, which means “of the heart.” The poor baby was found abandoned on the shores of Lake Kariba, in Zimbabwe, by rangers. They assume that the family was trying to cross a river, but the little one got washed away.

Luckily, Roxy was there to open the doors to her home and her heart for Moyo. What is incredible about this loving creature is that he found comfort with his caretaker and fell in love with her so much that he now spends every second of every day by her side. The two even sleep side by side.

BBC’s Nature’s Miracle Orphans / Youtube

In the past, Roxy cared for and nurtured a huge number of elephants that she later released in the wild. But it’s different with Moyo. He’s still very young and dependable, and although living with a 123 pound creature is quite demanding, Roxy is happy she gets to take care of her sweet friend.

Woman misdiagnosed with pregnancy discovers she has a cyst growing inside her body

Keely Favell/Hook News

I am sure you’ve heard of unusual and unexplained medical conditions people face. The case of Keely Favell from Britain is a medical mystery that caught our attention and left us wondering how is it possible for doctors to fail to establish an accurate diagnosis.

Whereas there are women who didn’t know they were pregnant until delivery day, Favell’s case is just the opposite. She believed she was pregnant all along, but the reality was far different.

What doctors convinced Favell to be a baby, turned out a giant 57-pound ovarian cyst that required urgent removal. The biggest issue is that doctors didn’t do any further analysis and simply told this woman she was expecting, despite the blood tests coming back negative.

Everything started back in 2014 when Favell started gaining weight. She believed she was just getting fat because she ate more so she didn’t really put too much thought into it. However, when people on the streets started congratulating her on her baby asking about the due date, she understood her weight got out of control.

Keely Favell/Hook News

In 2016, she blacked out so she decided to seek medical care. She told Mirror that after all the tests, doctors told her it was because of stress. When it happened again they told her it could be because of her acne medication. However, she wasn’t taking any at the time and insisted on another blood test to check once again whether there was pregnancy in question, but it came negative as the ones before.

As she started panicking already, the general physician asked for an ultrasound which left everyone in shock. They couldn’t believe what they’ve missed to discover for so long. Just to be sure, Favell was sent for an emergency CT scan that only confirmed there was a huge cyst inside her body.

She underwent a 5-hour surgery during witch the high-risk obstetrics specialist managed to successfully remove the baby-resembling cyst Favell later referred to as Mr. Whippy.

After that massive growth was out of her body, she started her recovery and felt relieved both mentally and physically.  She told the BBC:

“I lost sight of how difficult even simple things like driving a car or walking up the stairs had become. Losing my lump gave me my life back – I can’t thank my surgeon enough.”

Doctors later explained that it can happen for ovarian cysts to go undetected for longer periods of time because many women don’t have any symptoms and don’t seek for help, unaware something is growing inside their body.

Some of the common symptoms could be swelling in the stomach, abnormal menstrual cycle, cramps, or facial hair. Though sometimes they are not life threatening, in many cases they have to be surgically removed.

In Kelly’s case, things could take a wrong turn if she didn’t insist on further examinations. Luckily, she is feeling great and this won’t affect her having children in the future.

What do you think of Keely’s story?
