Camilla’s younger sister has worked for King Charles for decades – this is everything you need to know about her

A new ear for the British royalty is just around the corner. King Charles’ coronation is to take place on May 6, 2023 which is also the day when his wife Camilla becomes Queen Consort.

When Britain first learned of the affair between then-prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, she became one of the most detested people in the country, at least among the royal fans who were madly infatuated with Princess Diana, one of the most loved figures of Britain.

Over the years, however, Camilla showed she cared for Charles and the royal family and she managed to gain certain popularity. Not only people accepted her, but they also started to like her.

When the two tied the knot some 17 years ago, it was reported that Camilla opted to be called Queen Consort once Charles accedes to the throne. At the time, the Palace reported that she would be given the title of a Princess, but late Queen Elizabeth wished Camilla to be known as Queen Consort and she spoke openly about that wish during the celebration of her platinum jubilee.

Charles, on the other hand, never had doubts that his wife would get the title of a Queen one day.

“I count on the loving help of my darling wife, Camilla,” Charles said in the statement he issued following his mother’s death. “In recognition of her own loyal public service since our marriage seventeen years ago, she becomes my Queen Consort.”

One person that stood by Camilla’s side through thick and thin is her younger sister, Annabel Elliot.

It is believed that when Princess Diana confronted Camilla about her affair with Charles, they were attending Annabel Elliot’s 40th birthday party.

“She said to me, ‘You’ve got everything you ever wanted. You’ve got all the men in the world fall in love with you and you’ve got two beautiful children, what more do you want?’ So I said, ‘I want my husband,’” Diana explained back in the day. “And I said, ‘I’m sorry I’m in the way … and it must be hell for both of you. But I do know what’s going on. Don’t treat me like an idiot.’”

Annabel and Camilla are more than sisters; they are greatest of friends. Annabel has run her show Annabel Elliot Interior Design and Antiques in Dorset for more than 30 years, becoming the fifth most influential female interior designer in the UK in 2014.

It was on Annabel’s 50th birthday party that Charles and Camilla first posed together in public and stole she show. Later, amid the divorce of Charles and Diana, it was Annabel who drove the car that whisked Camilla away from public view and the notorious paparazzi press.

Over time, Annabel became close part of the royal family, especially with Charles, with whom she had been reported to have clashed from time to time, especially when she felt like he was trying to do most of what she was paid for himself.

“He always likes to be completely involved and know what’s being suggested,” Annabel said in the 2012 ITV documentary The Royal Restoration.

“He’s looking at every piece of material — ‘What’s this for?, Is that for a chair? Where’s that sourced from? Has it got nylon in it?’ He doesn’t like duvets.”

She then added, “You know, it’s all that kind of thing, it’s very very important to him. We’ll argue. I’ll say ‘I really think actually…’ So we’ll definitely have a good, healthy debate. He doesn’t just agree or disagree. He will look at everything. His eye for detail is quite extraordinary. I don’t think I’ve ever worked with anybody who is so interested in the detail.”

Annabel was employed to carry out work on the then-Prince of Wales’s new home in Wales, Llwywormwood, which he bought in 2006 for more than £1 million.

The Telegraph reported at the time that Charles’ sister-in-law was paid over $380,000 for her work between 2005 and 2008, which some politicians thought was a matter of cronyism, but that’s not how Charles viewed it.

“There was no tender. The Prince knows her and likes her work. Annabel Elliot is an established interior designer,” a Clarence House spokesperson said at the time.

This wasn’t the only time Annabel worked for the royals. She also designed 12 Duchy of Cornwall cottages and ran a 2012 project to convert a “run-down barn building” into an elegant guesthouse on the grounds of Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland, becoming Charles’ chief interior designer.

Even today, Camilla and Annabel are extremely close. Recently, the two were spotted together at the Booker Prize for Fiction ceremony at the Roundhouse in London and people couldn’t help but notice how much they look alike.

Annabel has been married to her husband Simon Elliot since 1972 and they share three children together, including Ben Elliot, a businessman and fund-raiser for the Conservative Party who served as Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party from July 2019 to September 2022.

Christina Applegate opens up about her battle with MS

Christina Applegate is without a doubt one of the most charming actresses there are.

The Dead to Me star was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2008 and underwent a double mastectomy. Some ten years after the procedure, in an interview for USA Today, Applegate revealed she was still facing body image issues. “I think about it every day. Girls who go through this, we say to each other, ‘Yep, it’s been 10 years,’ but you’re never not aware that that’s something you’ve been through. Everything looks different. You have to shower and you’re like, ‘Oh, there they are. That happened,'” she said.

Applegate has also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after she was told that she has the BRCA1 genetic mutation, a gene associated with an increased risk of both breast and ovarian cancer.

Sadly, her health struggles are far from over. In August 2022, The Sweetest Thing star revealed that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), an autoimmune chronic disease of the central nervous system which disrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body, as well as within the brain.

There is currently no cure for it, but the symptoms could be managed with proper treatment. For people with MS, average life expectancy is slightly reduced.

When Applegate first spoke of her diagnosis, she described the experience as a ‘strange journey’ and a ‘tough road.’ She added that she received support from people she knows who also have the condition.

In a second twit, she asked for some privacy as she deals with her condition.

One of the first people who shared their support is fellow actress Selma Blair, who was diagnosed with MS herself in 2017.

“Loving you always. Always here,” Selma wrote. “As are our kids. Beating us up with love.”

Blair has been very vocal about MS and makes sure she shares her experience on the social media and elswehere.

Applegate has taken her condition seriously and does her best to manage her health. “With MS, most exercises can be scary due to numbness in feet and legs,” she tweeted. “So sitting and knowing I’m still using my body is awesome.”

On her 50th birthday, Christina Applegate shared a message honoring the occasion and describing her journey.

“Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS. It’s been a hard one,” she twitted. “Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.”

We pray for Christina Applegate and wish she remains as brave as she is.

Sarah Jessica Parker cancels future appearances over devastating family situation

And just like that star Sarah Jessica Parker penned a touching social media tribute to her late stepfather, Paul Giffin Forste, who died after sudden an unexpected illness.

When Forste and Parker’s mother, Barbara, married, the actress was just three years old.

“Godspeed. RIP. Strong like a bull. Til the end,” Parker, 57, posted on Instagram along with a black and white photo of her stepdad. “At home and among all those who loved you dearly, you will be missed always.

“We will take good care of Mommy, who you worshipped for 54 years.”

A rep for Parker said in a statement, “Paul will be remembered with the spirit of loving kindness which was his faith, his special delight in his 13 grandchildren, and his sustained belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant and beautiful place for all.”

Parker, who shares three children with husband Matthew Broderick, has always been candid about her upbringing throughout the years.

Speaking to The New York Times back in 2000, the Sex and the City star said, “I remember being poor. There was no great way to hide it. We didn’t have electricity sometimes. We didn’t have Christmases sometimes, or we didn’t have birthdays sometimes, or the bill collectors came, or the phone company would call and say, ‘We’re shutting your phones off.’”

Despite all this, she and her siblings were brought up in a home where love was present at all times.

Following Forste’s passing, who was 76, Parker was forced to postpone and cancel future appearances.

Her friends and followers shared their condolences.

“So beautiful. Thinking of you Always and I know you know I am,” comedian Amy Sedaris commented.

Meghan Markle reveals Queen’s death was a ‘complicated time’ for the young couple

There has always been some kind of drama surrounding British royalty, especially during the last couple of years, or better said after the famous ‘Megxit,’ when the Sussexes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, decided to step down from their royal duties and settle down in the States.

Things turned even worse following the infamous Oprah interview where Harry spoke openly of the life as a royal and told the host that he used to be trapped inside the system, the same way his brother and father still are. Allegations against the royals were brought up, among which those of racism.

Getty Images

U.K. media, as well as many influential international magazines, have slammed their decision to split from the royal family, but both Harry and Meghan believed it was the best thing to do when it came to their own family. During the Oprah interview, Harry once again defended their decision to move from Britain because he didn’t want “history repeating itself,” referring to what had happened to his late mother who was chased by the media non stop.

“[The British press] was destroying my mental health,” he said.

“This is toxic. So, I did what any good husband and what any father would do. It’s like I need to get my family out of here. But, we never walked away, and as far as I’m concerned whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away. I will always be contributing, but my life is public service so wherever I am in the world it’s always going to be the same thing.”

Youtube/CBS

The couple was financially cut off with the excuse given that there were not enough funds to go around. They were not provided security either, something that bothered Meghan at the time.

Since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, many believe the members of the Firm would do their best to rebuilt the bridges that have been burnt over the last few years, but we are yet to see if something like that happens.

Getty Images

In a recent interview with Variety Magazine, Meghan spoke of the late Queen and what they have gone through since her passing.

“There’s been such an outpouring of love and support. I’m really grateful that I was able to be with my husband to support him, especially during that time,” the Duchess said.

“What’s so beautiful is to look at the legacy that his grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts. Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like.”

Further, Meghan commented, “I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, ‘Now she’s reunited with her husband.’

“I’ve reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family.”

Meghan also spoke of the power of sisterhood and recalled the times she was helped by certain women who made her feel welcomed.

As of her commitments in the States, where she and Harry started their lives some two years ago, Meghan said, “We share an office. We work from home, as most people started to do during lockdown. It allows us to have significant time with our kids at this really special moment in their lives. We’ll never get this time back. I make breakfast, and we get the kids set for the day.

“We do a lot of joint calls and Zooms, but also try to divide what we can focus our energies on so we can accomplish even more. My husband is on a 24-hour time zone, where half of your life is waking up as the other half is going to sleep. It’s kind of the reverse of what I went through living in the U.K.

“He’s very good at responding on text. Me, I try to be as fast as possible on email. I’ve always said, if it takes less than five minutes, do it now.”

YouTube

Life seems to be going great for Meghan and Harry’s family. They have their hands full being parents to Archie and Lilibet and being involved in a number of different projects.

When it comes to Meghan’s former career as an actress, she could be heard saying she doesn’t plan on returning to it, but she also says, ‘never say never,’ so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if we see her as part of Hollywood again.

Boy begs mom not to take him to daycare until she breaks into the facility

There isn’t a single thing in this world a parent wouldn’t do for the well-being of their children. That is why moms and dads out there are real-life superheroes.

Marla Evans, a mom of a three-year-old boy named Johnny signed that morning when she heard her son saying, “No, mommy, no!” when the time came for him to go to the daycare.

This wasn’t the first tantrum he threw in recent days. It wasn’t like that before. Johnny enjoyed going to daycare. What’s most, he was looking forward to it, but something changed and Marla didn’t know what it was.

He begged her to stay home. So, not knowing what to do, she took him to the pediatrician to seek advice and was told that most toddlers go through the ‘terrible threes.’ But Marla could sense there was more to it than just a period children Johnny’s age go through.

Whenever she would ask him why he didn’t like daycare, the boy would simply answer, “I don’t,” and that was it.

“But why, sweetie?” Marla asked again one morning. “Are the other kids mean?” but the boy still wouldn’t answer. “Baby, mommy needs to go to work, but I tell you what… I’m going to come and get you from daycare early today, OK?”

Johnny then asked if she would pick him up before lunch. “No lunch?” he said as he looked up at her anxiously. “No lunch, mommy?”

This made Marla suspicious.

That day, she asked her boss if she could leave work early to deal with personal issues. Being a mom herself, the boss gave Marla the permission she asked for.

Once at the daycare, Marla asked if she could enter, but she was told parents weren’t allowed inside and that the children had lunch. At that moment, she walked to the dining room and peered in through the glass. The children were all sat and there were teachers at each table, supervising the little ones.

Marla then spotted Johnny and what she saw broke her heart into a million pieces.

A woman sitting next to her son picked up Johnny’s spoon, scooped up a portion of mashed potatoes, and pressed it against his lips, yelling at him to eat.

“Open your mouth and eat!” she could be heard saying as she forcefully put the food into the boy’s mouth. “You are going to sit here until you clear your plate!” the woman yelled.

Marla had it enough. She stormed inside the daycare’s kitchen and told the woman to get away from her son.

The woman looked at Marla and told her parents weren’t allowed inside to what Marla replied, “Then they should be.”

Marla then said, “Can’t you see Johnny’s had enough? He’s a healthy boy, but he is not a big eater. As an educator, you should know how traumatic force-feeding a child can be.

“Being forced to clean up the plate is an old-fashioned notion. You should be aware of the statistics and the causes of obesity and eating disorders in children.

“And one of them is making food an issue! My little boy is an active child, and if he feels he’s had enough, you need to respect that and not force him to eat.

“As for shoving food into a child’s mouth in that way, it is reprehensible! You should certainly know better. These children are not puppets for you to manipulate at will!

“They are little people with needs and a will of their own. If you don’t respect their boundaries, you teach them they don’t deserve respect. I don’t think that is a message you want to pass on!”

The next morning, Johnny said he would go to the daycare because he knew his mom had his back.

Camilla redesigns precious jewelry piece despite that Lady Di had worn it so close to her heart

The tumultuous relationship and marriage between Prince Charles and late Princess Diana had a lot to do with his affection for his “friend” and lover Camilla.

The marriage ultimately ended in divorce and the heir to the British throne married Camilla instead.

What Charles and Camilla felt for one another happened before he even met the late Princess. Rumors are that the two had great plans together and were eager to tie the knot, but at the time, the Palace didn’t see Camilla as a good fit for the future king. Throughout his marriage with Lady Di, Camilla was always there, as though she was trying to remind the Princess she wasn’t planning to leave.

In her biography, Princess Diana recalled how she felt unsettled before saying “I do” because she knew deep down that Charles’ feelings for Camilla were still alive. Before marrying Diana, Charles gave Camilla a present. It was a gold chain bracelet with a blue enamel disc intertwined with the inscriptions “G and F” (Gladys and Fred) which stood for Prince Charles and Camilla’s nicknames.

Diana learned about this and wasn’t at ease. “I was devastated,” she said. “He’d found the virgin, the sacrificial lamb, and in a way, he was obsessed with me. But it was hot and cold, hot and cold.” She was devastated and told her sisters she couldn’t marry Charles. “So I went upstairs, had lunch with my sisters who were there and said: ‘I can’t marry him, I can’t do this, this is absolutely unbelievable,’” Andrew Morton wrote that Diana had said.

Despite her apprehensions, Diana still married Charles two days later at the St. Paul’s Cathedral.

As she walked down the aisle, Diana spotted Camilla among the guests. “Pale grey, veiled pillbox hat, saw it all, her son Tom standing on a chair. To this day, you know – vivid memory,” the late Princess said.

It didn’t take long before Diana became a much loved member of the Royalty. Britons called her the People’s Princess, and she was exactly that. Caring, loving, and calm.

Becoming a Princess meant Diana was entitled to much of the family’s jewelry which she always wore with pride. Among the precious possessions given to her by The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth was the famous Prince of Wales’ Feathers Brooch. The stunning diamond brooch was first bestowed to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863 in celebration of her wedding to King Edward VII.  It features diamonds with small emeralds surrounding the Prince of Wales Ostrich Feathers, which are in turn made up of additional smaller diamonds. A stunning piece indeed.

Princess Diana could be spotted wearing the famous brooch as a necklace pendant and it was obvious she was keen on that special piece of jewelry.

Years later, after Lady Di died in a horrific car crash and Prince Charles married Camilla, who is now the Duchess of Cornwall, the brooch, along with other valuable pieces, were handed down to her.

Camilla was first spotted wearing the Prince of Wales’ Feathers Brooch a year after tying the knot with Charles during a movie premiere. What caught the attention of many was that she wore it as a brooch, not as a pendant like Lady Di.

Charlotte White, the Head of Design at 77 diamonds, noted that “The notion of Camilla wearing a sparkling emerald and diamond brooch that once rested gracefully as a pendant on Diana’s skin and close to her heart does feel somewhat jarring when you think that many years ago Camilla was Diana’s husband’s lover.

“And yet, this 158-year-old jewel does contain within it an undeniable link to Prince Charles, the man to whom both these women are inextricably linked,” she added, as per Express.

Camilla was spotted wearing the precious gem during other meaningful occasions too, including the Cheltenham Festival in 2012, as well as in 2019, for a reception at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles’ 50th investiture Anniversary.

Being his wife, Prince Charles was said to have been very adamant that Camilla is entitled to all the jewelry that once belonged to Princess Diana.

“It is understood that the Prince was particularly keen for his new bride to wear the brooch because of its association with successive princes of Wales,” a source told the Daily Mail.

‘Harry Potter’ actor Robbie Coltrane spent his last years ‘constantly in pain’

From a small role in BBC’s mini-series The Lost Tribe at the very beginning of his career, to his outstanding performances of Hagrid in Harry Potter, actor Robbie Coltrane achieved great things in the world of film. Sadly, he passed away on October 14, 2022, but his roles will serve as a reminder of the immense talent he had shown over the course of his career of 40 years.

At the time of his passing, Coltrane was 72 years old.

His family issued a statement thanking the staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital for the care they provided for the actor. He passed away at a hospital near his home in Scotland.

As the cause of dead has not yet been revealed, Belinda Wright, his British agent, said he had been “unwell for some time.” Wright described Coltrane as a ‘unique talent,’ and said that his role of the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter films “brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world.”

Staff/Mirrorpix/Getty Images

Born Anthony Robert McMillan in the Glaswegian suburb of Rutherglen on March 30, 1950, Coltrane was educated at Glenalmond College but he didn’t enjoy the strict rules and discipline this boarding school offered. Eventually, he decided to leave and attended art school in Glasgow instead, majoring in drawing, painting, and film.

However, he soon realized that art wasn’t his calling and turned to acting instead. At this point, he changed his name to Coltrane as homage to celebrated jazz musician John Coltrane.

Among the rest, Coltrane starred in Nuns on the Run, the ITV crime drama Cracker in which he played criminal psychologist Dr. Edward “Fitz” Fitzgerald, winning three British Academy Television awards, two James Bond films, 1995’s GoldenEye and 1999’s The World Is Not Enough, where he played Valentin Zukovsky, a former K.G.B. agent turned Russian mafia kingpin.

His most significant role, however, is that in the Harry Potter franchise.

“Robbie is just perfect for Hagrid because Hagrid is a very loveable character, quite likeable, quite comic,” JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter said. “But he had to have – you really do have to sense – a certain toughness underneath, and I think Robbie does that perfectly.”

Coltrane featured in every Harry Potter movie, from Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001 to Death Hallows -Part 2 in 2011.

Speaking of the Harry Potter family and working alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, Coltrane said on HBO’s television special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, “You’ve got to remember, when they first started they were about eight. I think the oldest of them was 11.

“Now they’re big grown-ups with their own lives. [Rupert] Grint’s had a baby – Grint’s now a father! It’s just astonishing, the change. Watching them growing up was kind of like watching your own grow up, you know. Because you were protecting them.”

He then added, “I was always astonished at how fearless they were. I remember walking into The Great Hall, and I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and I thought, ‘Dear Lord! Woah, better get this one right.’ I do have enormous happy memories of this actually.”

Youtube/TheGuardian

During the last years of his life, Coltrane was in constant pain. In an interview with Express, the late actor said he was “fighting pain 24 hours a day.”

He was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, an autoimmune disease which leads to limited mobility, swelling, and a change in the shape of bones as it progresses. As a result, Coltrane ended in a wheelchair.

Youtube/TheGuardian

His fellow co-workers paid tribute to Coltrane.

“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up,” Daniel Radcliffe said in a statement.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Youtube/Themovietimes

J.K. Rowling wrote, “He was an incredible talent, a complete one off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children.”

Rest in peace, Robbie Coltrane.

Vet frees chained horse not knowing he’s about to get the ‘thank you’ of a life time

We all dream of a better world, but is there really a chance for things to change for the better without us finally starting to treat animals the way they deserve? I strongly believe that achieving any form of excellency of living depends on what we do for those who can’t speak for themselves.

However, stories of people who go above and beyond for the well-being of all the creatures we share this planet with give me hope that humanity is still alive.

Wild horses are meant to be exactly what their name stands for, wild and free. However, there are often cases where these animals are chained so they cannot escape.

YouTube/ Four Paws

Ovidiu Rosu, a member of the organization Four Paws, which helps animals in need, stumbled upon a chained horse in Romania and he knew he needed to act fast and release the beautiful animal. This man, who happened to be a vet, took off the chains and received the most beautiful thank you ever.

The horse was visibly nervous when Rosu approached it because it didn’t know what to expect. Before he got to the chains, Rosu calmed the animal down and then managed to free it. There were marks on the horse’s legs which spoke of the pain it suffered.

Upon releasing the wild horse, it touched Rosu’s nose as a way of showing gratitude for his good deed. The emotional moment was caught on camera and we are so glad we could witness something as extraordinary as this.

Sadly, chaining wild horses is a common practice in Romania as people believe it would prevent them from roaming freely in the protected Letea Forest.

When these horses were left behind by the Tatars some 300 years ago, their number grew bigger and bigger with each passing year.

“These horses were first brought to Romania around 300 to 400 years ago by the Tatars. The Tatars left many horses behind, and they started roaming freely through the area. Many horses were also set free in 1989, after the agricultural cooperatives in the area broke apart. This led to a huge population boom—by 2010, there were as many as 1,500 horses living in the Danube Delta.”

YouTube/ Four Paws

In order for this cruel practice of chaining horses to stop, the members of the Four Paws organization offered to carry out a program to give contraceptives to mares to help control the numbers. This helped lower the number of horses, but locals still insist on chaining them, a practice animal advocates tend to put a stop to.

YouTube/ Four Paws

Among the rest, Four Paws also offers vaccinations for the wild horses.

Please SHARE this touching story to help spread the word about the wonderful work this animal organization does.
