Teacher takes a seat on Santa’s lap totally unaware it’s her soldier son

0

Who wouldn’t want to spend the holidays surrounded by family and friends? I guess that is what every person is longing for, because not being able to experience that feeling of warmth and coziness of your place during the most wonderful time of the year might be the worst thing ever. After all, the holidays should be all about family and friends, and those we love the most.

Unfortunately, many people don’t get to experience the holiday festivities at home, usually because of their demanding job positions. Think of all the doctors, nurses, firefighters, and military men and women who spend endless hours and shifts helping those in need, and serving a whole nation. These people certainly don’t have it easy.

As a result of deployment many soldiers miss not only the holidays, but many times the birth of their children and watching them grow up, many birthdays, gatherings, and other special events. For these people, as well for their families, having a chance to make it home is the ultimate Christmas present.

It seemed like a farfetched wish, but anything is possible especially if Santa is listening.
Coincidentally, their school had a lottery during their Christmas breakfast.
The lottery would give the winner a chance to ask Santa for whatever they wanted for Christmas. In a video posted by KPC News, Superintendent Alan Middleton is in the middle of choosing the winner.

Specialist Ethan Harris did a tour in Afghanistan as part of the storied 101st Airborne Division, also known as the “Screaming Eagles” because of their patch.

A year after being away it was finally the time for this Specialist to reunite with his family. He got to be home for Christmas, and since it is the time of the year when we give presents, he got the idea of surprising his mom by doing something both emotional and fun.

Spc. Harris’ mother works at the Prairie Heights Middle School. It was the perfect place for him to show up and make her jaw drop. So he did just that, went to the lottery the school organizes each year, dressed up in a uniform, but not the one everyone is used to seeing him in.

Kim Harris, Spc. Harris’ mother, isn’t just a math teacher, but one of the best teachers ever. She is loving and caring and students simply adore her. She was told her son was already in the United States and she was anticipating to embrace him and tell him how much she missed him.

On the day of the lottery there is always a person dressed as Santa. This year wasn’t any different, everyone was gathered at the school cafeteria, the Big Old man was also there waiting for the people to tell him their Christmas wishes. That’s when the Superintendent Alan Middleton called Kim’s name.

He then told her to come in the front and sit in Santa’s lap. She was quite excited and laughing all the time. When Santa asked her what it was that she wanted for Christmas she replied:

“Peace on Earth and goodwill towards men.”

Although her wish list was long, the best present she could have think of was there already.

“My son is safely on U.S. soil.”

Santa then asked Kim where her son was, but when she responded “Fort Campbell,” he only had one more question to ask.

“Are you sure?”

That’s when Santa pulled his beard down and revealed his true identity!

This mother’s reaction is priceless. She really couldn’t be happier knowing she will get to spend Christmas with her son.

Sandra Bullock slams those who differentiate between “adopted children”

0

What makes a mother? Is it just the process of carrying a child and giving birth or being there for that little bundle of joy and doing all you can to raise them into respected individuals?

Actress Sandra Bullock is a proud mother of two wonderful kids, 10-year-old Louis and 8-year-old Laila. Bullock was highest paid actress in 2010 and 2014 and was named The Most Beautiful Woman in 2015 by People magazine. In addition to that, she was on the list of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2010.

However, besides her successful career, she seems she’s most proud of being a mom.

Bullock’s kids are adopted, and people calling them “adopted children” is what makes her really angry. She believes that no child should ever be labeled in such manner, because she is a mother to these incredible children as much as any mother is to the kid she had given birth to.

During an interview with InStyle, the Oscar winning actress brought up the question about children who are adopted and said, “Let’s all just refer to these kids as “our kids.” Don’t say “my adopted child.” No one calls their kid their “IVF child” or their “oh, shit, I went to a bar and got knocked-up child.” Let just say, “our children.”

She tends to provide for Louis and Laila a regular upbringing and tends to keep them out of the spotlight as much as possible. Bullock knows best that being a mother is so much more than just giving birth and we all have to agree with her. Her kids are lucky to have her as a mom.

War hero passes away two days after walking his granddaughter down the aisle

Those who get to grow up with their grandparents by their side are one of the luckiest people there are because the elderly are the most caring individuals who unselfishly share with us the wisdom they have gathered throughout the years.

One bride from Poland and her loving granddad melted the hearts of the entire nation after a video of them walking down the aisle holding hands was shared online. The granddad, Bronislaw Karovsky, was a war veteran who received a number of awards for his bravery. Despite his fragile health, he accompanied his granddaughter Joanna to the altar while wearing his military uniform.

Mr. Karovsky was part of the Polish movement against the Nazis and participated in the Warsaw Uprising. At one point, he was caught by the enemies, but managed to escape. Shortly after, he was captured again and was forced to spend 10 years in prison due to his actions against the communist government in Poland.

After the liberation of Poland, he received numerous awards.

Sadly, just two days after his granddaughter’s wedding, Mr. Karovsky passed away at the age of 94. He will be remembered as a very special man who fought for his country. And for Joanna, she now has a video of a beautiful moment she shared with him to hold on and to cherish forever.

Geena Davis took some time off from the Hollywood spotlight and almost became an Olympian

0

Winning an Academy Award and a Golden Globe and having starred in movies dubbed iconic, among which Thelma and Louis, it looks like Geena Davis has a lot to be proud of. Her acting career is one of the most successful in Hollywood, although there were times when Davis kept herself out of the spotlight.

Recently, all eyes were on her after it was revealed that she and her fourth husband, plastic surgeon Reza Jarrahy, have reached a settlement agreement in their divorce nearly three and a half years after he initially filed for it.

Jarrahy is the father of Davis’ three children, daughter Alizeh Keshvar Davis Jarrahy, and twin sons Kaiis Steven Jarrahy and Kian William Jarrahy.

Jarray was reported to have wanted to split assets with Davis but she claimed that they were never legally married. A source claimed that the pair spent around $1.5 million on their divorce proceedings. She continued living in their California mansion, while he faced bankruptcy and was forced to sleep at friends’ places and even his car, according to media outlets.

Davis’ net worth, on the other hand, is said to be $30 million.

In the past, she could be heard saying how she doesn’t want her kids to pursue careers in the film industry. Davis herself has always dreamed of becoming an actress.

During her young years, she was into athletics and even played basketball for her school’s team. Later on, Davis pursued a modeling career and had to lie about her height, she’s 6-feet-tall, because as she once said, “believe it or not, you can be considered too tall.”

In 1997, after graduating from Boston University where she majored in drama, Davis moved to New York and worked as a sales clerk and waitress as well as a mannequin in store windows. During that period, she was featured as a model in the famous Victoria Secret Catalog, after signing with the Zoli Agency. This opened many doors for young Davis, and one of them, probably the most important of all, was the one leading to Hollywood.

“I knew I wanted to be in movies, as opposed to theater,” she told NPR.

“I decided that I would try becoming a model first because, at that time, Christie Brinkley and Lauren Hutton were being offered parts in movies. And I thought, OK, well, I’ll just become a model, and then they’ll just offer me parts because obviously, it’s so much easier to become a supermodel.

“It ultimately all worked out for me, but the likelihood of becoming a famous model was actually pretty slim, and I didn’t,” she added.

“I did get work, and it was through my model agency that I got my first acting job.”

Besides being part of a number of successful movies, including Beetlejuice, The Accidental Tourist, which brought her an Academy Award, the series Buffalo Bill, and many more, she’s also a women’s rights activist.

“There are going to be so many movies starring women, about women, female road pictures, whatever,” she said in a Q&A of the noise surrounding Thelma and Louis.

“I’m thinking, hot dog, let’s sit back and wait for all this magic change to happen. We’re still waiting. It really did not happen. It seems like every five years or so, there’s another movie starring women that’s a huge hit, and people say, ‘Well now certainly everything is going to change,’ and it really hasn’t.”

For a while, Davis changed focus in careers and turned to archery after she got fascinated with it after watching American Justin Huish win two gold medals at the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games. She trained very hard and even received a number of local as well as national awards. Her focus were the the 2020 Olympic Games, but despite her hard work, she fell short of qualifying.

The 65-year-old actress founded Geena Davis Institute on Gender In Media in 2004, a “non-profit research organization that researches gender representation in media and advocates for equal representation of women.”

Last year, she won the Academy Award’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her work.

“We’ve been doing it about 15 years now, and we can measure progress,” Davis said.

“There’s a lot of progress that needs to still be made for characters of color or with different abilities. And age is another factor. But I’m very excited that we are seeing progress.”

David Bowie is “not my late husband, he’s my husband,” says Iman who never wants to remarry

0

David Robert Jones, or David Bowie as we all know him, was considered a leading figure in the music industry and one of the most famous and most influential musicians of the 20th century. Unfortunately, this great man left this world in 2016 after a battle with cancer. He left behind a legacy and a number of iconic music pieces that would be around in the years to come.

Bowie had been married to entrepreneur and former supermodel Iman for 26 years. They had daughter Alexandria “Lexi” Jones together, who was still a teenager when her father died.

Today, almost 6 years after his passing, Iman spoke of the sorrow she felt and the presence of her husband that she feels every single day.

Speaking to Today, Iman revealed how her daughter asked her if she would ever remarry, to what she answered “no.”

“People say to me when they talk, ‘Oh I loved your late husband,’ and I said, ‘He’s not my late husband, he’s my husband,’ so that’s how I feel about it. This was truly the love of my life, and I just wait until I meet him again.”

In the process of helping Lexi deal with the grief, Iman realized she didn’t dealt with the grief herself.

“I had a daughter who was a teenager when her father passed away, so I was really more concentrated in helping her go through her grief,” Iman shared. “But I thought, oh yes, I did go through my grief, but I actually did not.”

“Last year I went to my house estate, this beautiful property that I haven’t spent time there since my husband passed away, and there I was stuck for the year and I was forced to deal with it,” she continued. “All of a sudden grief knocked on the door and became a companion. And I went through all of it, and now it is the joy that I remember.”

Iman also recalled the time she and Bowie first met. Apparently, he felt it was love at first sight. She, on the other hand, needed few months to get there.

After their first date, Iman had to travel to Paris for a runway show. Once she entered her hotel room, she was stunned by the incredible sight. The entire place was filled with beautiful Gardenias that Bowie arranged for her. When she returned, he waited for her at the airport.

“Early on, we were walking down the street and my shoelace came undone and he got on his knees to tie it for me and I thought he’s the one,” she told People.

The muse of a number of designers, among which Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Yves Saint Laurent, paid tribute to her late husband by creating a fragrance named Love Memoir. It can be purchased exclusively at HSN and hsn.com.

“There are days that are harder than others but the memories are not all sad of why the person isn’t here. The memories are now of how great it was. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I had 26 years. So I have that to sustain me,” she said.

“I definitely feel his presence,” Iman added, “especially when I look out over the glorious sunsets at our home because David loves sunsets. So in that way he is ever present.”

What these two had was truly special. We are so very sad for Iman’s loss. Rest in peace, David Bowie, you live through your music.

Man takes chance on jobless handyman standing on side of road begging for a job

0

The ongoing pandemic imposed “a new normal” where we are expected to limit the social contacts to the minimum. A number of businesses were forced to close down and that left millions of people jobless and struggling to make ends meet. One of those affected by the pandemic was a man named Robert Simpson who not only experienced a hard time landing a job, but lost his home too. He and his girlfriend, along with her 6-year-old son, were forced to move into a hotel where they pay rent. But with his only income being his disability check of $1,000 a month, living was hard.

Unable to provide for his family, Robert decided to try his luck by standing at a corner at the Hurstbourne exit off Interstate 64 in Louisville with a sign in his hands saying, “Handyman. 25 years exp. Need work.”

He stood there for days before someone snapped a photo of him and shared it on Instagram along with the caption, “This man was out on Hurstborne (Louisville, Ky) today. He isn’t asking for money, he just wants to work. If you know any businesses that may be in need of a handyman please pass his number on.”

Luckily, the photo caught the attention of the right person, Kyle Kark, the owner of Greenstar Home Remodeling, company offering remodeling services, mainly of offices.

Even though he had never met Robert before, Kyle decided to give him a call and offer him a steady job. Just what Robert needed and hoped for.

Speaking to WLKY News Louisville, Robert said, “It feels excellent. It’s a blessing. I didn’t even ask him what he was paying. I just came. And he’s been taking care of me ever since.”

Kyle even drives Robert to work every day as he doesn’t have a car. On top of that, Kyle organized a fundraiser to help Robert with his rent and to ease his life even further.

“Green Star Home has had the honor and privilege to work with Rob the Handyman today,” the GoFundMe page read.

“Though we will continue to help Rob and his family out when and where we can, we ask our community to also provide the much needed support.

Rob is a humble man and has not once asked for a dime he has not earned, but he and his family are without essential needs, such as a vehicle and a permanent place to stay, so it is Green Star’s hope that you will join us in supporting our neighbor Rob and his family by providing the funds needed to get him back on his feet.

We thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.”

The page helped raise over $24,000. One person who donated $1,000 wrote, “God bless you and your family. I am honored to help you to gain a fresh start. You are the best this Country has to offer! A real role model.”

Body of missing 2-year-old Emma Sweet has been recovered from White River

0

Rescue teams consisting of the Bartholomew County Water Rescue and Recovery Team, other water rescue agencies, as well as a number of volunteers, were searching for 2-year-old Emma Sweet after her father Jeremy was spotted by duck hunters in his partially submerged pick up truck last Friday. Both Jeremy and Emma were reported missing by the girl’s mother, but at the time Jeremy was found, little Emma was nowhere to be seen.

The extensive and thorough search ended up with Emma’s body being recovered from White River, some 2.5 miles downstream from where Jeremy was discovered. The body was found next to a pile of debris in the water, as reported by Yahoo.

Emma’s mother and uncle were also part of the search teams.

In a Facebook post on the Bartholomew County Sheriff page, Sheriff Matt Myers wrote while the search was still ongoing, “I have never in my 30 years in law enforcement seen such cooperation and teamwork in an investigation. I had no doubt that the men and women searching for Emma would find her.”

Speaking of the girl’s mother and family, the sheriff added, “I pray the Lord to comfort them during this difficult time.

“I again want to praise the first responders and all of those who came out to help search for Emma.”

It remains unclear how the pick up truck ended in the water. In the meantime, Jeremy was placed on the 72-hour hold.

Detectives spoke to him several times and he has given conflicting stories about how he and his daughter ended up in the water.

Once he’s out of the hospital, where he is being treated for hypothermia, he would be taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, as per sheriff Myers.

Rest in peace, Emma!

The surgeon who tried saving Princess Diana’s life recalls the night she died

0

Late Princess Diana was an enchanting woman and a mother. Her incredible beauty, both inner and external, was breathtaking to say the least. Her charisma charmed millions of people who loved her for her honesty, her incredible dedication to her people, and for the person that she was.

Youtube/Netflix

Her life, however, wasn’t an easy one. She seemed to have it all, always under the spotlight, but her marriage to Prince Charles was far from ideal. So, after years of scandals, the two finally divorced in August 1966, a year before she tragically passed away.

Her death was a huge shock for the entire world, especially her children, Princes William and Harry who walked behind her casket on the day of her funeral; an image many Britons could never forget.

The surgeon who was working at the hospital in France the night Lady Di died, MonSef Dahman, has spoken of what had really happened and what led to losing the People’s Princess.

“The thought that you have lost an important person, for whom you cared personally, marks you for life,” he told Daily Mail.

He recalled starting his shift at 8 a.m and being at the hospital the entire night. At approximately 2:06 a.m, around an hour and a half after Princess Diana’s accident, she was brought to the hospital. “I was resting in the duty room when I got a call from Bruno Riou, the senior duty anaesthetist, telling me to go to the emergency room,” Dahman told Daily Mail. “I wasn’t told it was Lady Diana, but [only] that there’d been a serious accident involving a young woman.”

The X-rays showed serious internal injuries, and Diana was given blood transfusion. Sadly, she then suffered another cardiac arrest. Dahman performed a surgery but her heart couldn’t be restarted. “We tried electric shocks, several times and, as I had done in the emergency room, cardiac massage,” Dahman explained. “Professor Riou had administered adrenaline. But we could not get her heart beating again.”

“We fought hard, we tried a lot, really an awful lot,” he said. “Frankly, when you are working in those conditions, you don’t notice the passage of time. The only thing that is important is that we do everything possible for this young woman.”

Even today, Princess Diana is the most mourned person who has ever lived.

A new documentary about the late Princess which will celebrate her remarkable life will air soon. According to the Express, new revelations about her life will come to light.

“There is something a bit magical about Princess Diana – and despite the difficulties in her personal life she managed to use her connection with people to do huge amounts of good,” Executive Producer David Glover told Express.

“Her 60th birthday feels like the perfect time to re-examine her life and legacy and explore just how she went from a relatively unknown teenager to the most mourned person who ever lived.”

Shutterstock

Diana is missed by many, but mostly by her two sons who loved her unconditionally. They pay tribute to her whenever they have a chance and fondly remember the beautiful times they got to share with their mom.

“When everybody says ‘she was funny, give us an example’. All I can hear is her laugh,” Harry explained in an interview with Good Morning America back in 2017.

“She was one of the naughtiest parents, she’d come and watch us play football and smuggle sweet into her socks, literally walking back from a football match and having five packages of [candy]. And just, the whole shirt was full with sweets.”

“We felt incredibly loved by her, and I’m very grateful that the love still feels there,” William said. ”It feels like a good time to remember her and hopefully provide a different side.

”It was that love, even though she was on the other side of the room, as her son you could feel it,” Harry added.

She wanted her sons to have a normal childhood and did all in her power to make them happy and satisfied at all times. She would often take them out of the Palace and to theme parks and fast food restaurants.

Diana’s former personal chef Darren McGrady spoke of such an occasion and told Marie Claire: “I remember the princess came into the kitchen one day and said, ‘Cancel lunch for the boys, I’m taking them out, we’re going to McDonald’s.’ And I said, ‘Oh my God – your Royal Highness, I can do that, I can do burgers.’ And she said, ‘No, it’s the toy they want.’”

Princess Diana would have been 60 this year. She will forever be missed. May she rest in peace.
