Tennessee bill that requires drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill parents passed

0

According to the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration, 28 people die in drunk-driving crashes every single day in the United States. These numbers are shocking, to say the least.

Among those killed in such crashes are people who have young kids. Recently, the State Senate has passed a bill in Tennesse that will require drunk drivers to pay child support if they kill the parents.

The Tennesse General Assembly stated that they will be required to pay the child maintenance to “each of the victim’s children until each child reaches 18 years of age and has graduated from high school.”

The amount paid will be decided by the courts and will be dependent on the children’s circumstances, as stated in the House Bill 1834. It will also depend on the child’s “financial needs and resources” and “standard of living” the child was used to.

If the person charged for the killing of the parents is unable to pay child support while in jail, they will be obliged to do so upon release from prison.

State representative, Mark White, spoke to WREG-TV and said that someone “needs to be responsible for the upbringing of those children” whose parents were killed by drunk drivers.

“A parent is responsible for the education and upbringing of that child and when then that parent removed from the home over something so, in my opinion, foolish where we drink and drive and take the life of an innocent then someone needs to be responsible for the upbringing of those children,” White added.

As per CBS News, prior to the passing of the bill, an amendment was added to House Bill 1834 to rename it ‘Ethan, Haile, and Bentley’s Law’ after children whose parents died in a car crash caused by a drunk driver.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you believe other states should do the same?

Stunning Jaclyn Smith became a Hollywood star after “Charlie’s Angels” – she still looks as beautiful as always at 76

0

For most actors and actresses, no matter how many successful movies they play in, there is usually one role that stands out and marks their career. For incredibly beautiful Jaclyn Smith, who is now 76 and looks as stunning as always, it was the role of Kelly Garrett in Charlie’s Angels.

The Houston born actress has always dreamed of becoming a ballerina. She got her first dancing shoes when she was just three years old, and although this passion never faded away, it was acting that she switched her focus on when she studied drama at the Trinity University.

She was part of several productions, but it seems like the whole country learned of her when she became a shampoo model for Breck. She also worked with Max Factor before she launched her own signature scent, Jaclyn Smith’s California, in 1989.

After graduating, she decided to move to New York, and it was one of the best decisions she has ever made, as the Big Apple opened a number of opportunities for young and attractive Smith.

“It was there, a thousand miles away from home, that I was lucky enough to try a lot of different experiences, meet many wonderful people, learn my craft, hone my skills and really be open to finding a path that was right for me”, she told Medium. “While I started in dance, I was pulled into acting in commercials and miniseries and just loved it. As I began to take on more roles and explore new and exciting characters, the more I knew this was what I wanted and am grateful for a wonderful career on the big and small screens.”

After being part of many series, which got her the name “Queen of Mini-Series,” Smith got the role in Charlie’s Angels. She recalled the time she went to audition and didn’t think she would get the part. “I just know it wasn’t my best moment. So I just got it out of my mind. I didn’t even think there was a chance for me to get Charlie’s Angels,” she told The Interviews. “I wasn’t a driving, ambitious actress like, ‘I have to get this role.’ I just went in, I had fun.”

Luckily, the producer, who was initially looking for a redhead, believed Smith would be the perfect fit for the role. The series first aired in 1976 and was a huge success, earning several Golden Globes and Emmy Awards nominations.

Although it attracted millions of fans, it looked like some people had a problem with the way the angels were dressed throughout the series.

‘The feminists didn’t like us because they said we were Barbie dolls prancing around. We wore pretty things, but we didn’t flaunt our sexuality. It wasn’t salacious,” she told Fox News. “But I didn’t feel exploited. I would have walked away if I felt that. In my heart of hearts, I knew who I was.”

Smith made $5,000 per episode at the beginning of the series, and ended up earning $40,000 later on. She, along with the rest of the angels, Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, were involved in merchandising spin-offs which earned them more money.

After the series was over, Smith got another role which impacted her career a great deal, that of the First Lady in Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. The movie was considered one of the most highly rated television films in history and Smith got a Golden Globe nomination.

Despite being part of the movie industry, Smith started her own clothing brand and is a successful businesswoman. In 1981, she married cinematographer Anthony B. Richmond with whom she has two children, son Gaston Richmond and daughter Spencer Margaret Richmond.

Today, she is dedicated to her family. She is married to husband Brad Allen and has two grandchildren.

The proud grandma, who was featured in People Magazine’s “Glam-mas,” says her children and grandchildren make her life complete. “They visit me all the time,” Smith told People. “This house is open to them. Bea knows that there’s a drawer in my closet that’s filled with candy, and she goes right for the gummy bears. She knows that I’m a soft touch for candy.”

“I mean, Bea is an explorer. She has her little playhouse in the back, and we have tea parties and go out. But Bea is good with unstructured time, too, and entertaining herself. So we go out in the yard and we talk about the flowers. Olivia is just so little.”

Smith is dedicated to working with several foundations, including The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, American Heart Association, The John Wayne Cancer and AbilityFirst.

In 2003, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and won the fight against the disease. “Just surround yourself with loved ones, support, girlfriends,” Smith told Survivornet on her cancer treatment. “And educate yourself the right way, not on the internet. Forget it. Get the recommendations from your doctor and from somebody who’s experienced these things.”

Beautiful Smith has had an amazing career and is still working as hard as ever. She definitely is one of our favorite Hollywood actresses.

Mother discovers a black spot in her daughter’s mouth and goes to the hospital in a hurry

0

While playing with her child, a mother noticed something that left her disturbed. On the hard palate inside the girl’s mouth was a huge black patch the mom never noticed before.

She tried erasing it but it did’t go away so she rushed her girl to the hospital. Once there, doctors examined it thoroughly and their initial thoughts were it was a birthmark. But how was it possible for the mother not to notice it for so long?

“Today, while playing with Bella, I noticed a smear on her mouth. I tried to erase it to see if it would go away, but it didn’t. I called everyone and then scheduled a 30-minute appointment with the doctor,” the mother wrote on Facebook.

The mom was sure it couldn’t be a birthmark because she said she cleaned her daughter’s mouth every single day and it wasn’t possible for the patch to be there from before.

Other doctors tried examining Bella and what they discovered made everyone laugh. It turned out that what appeared as a huge birthmark was in fact a piece of a cardboard the little one put in her mouth while no one was watching.

The mother was relieved and apologized the doctors for wasting their time. Luckily, it all turned out for the best. The doctors, of course, weren’t mad, they said this fun incident made their day.

Victoria Arlen was ‘brain-dead’ and crippled: Her recovery stunned all

0

Being trapped inside your own body unable to move or communicate and without anyone, including yourself, realizing you are still there might sound like the worst nightmare one could imagine. Unfortunately, that was the living hell the 11-year-old Victoria Arlen went through.

This girl used to be vibrant and lived her life to the fullest, but over time she experienced loss of mobility in her legs and quickly vent into vegetative state. Her parents could only witness their loving girl deteriorating in front of their eyes, unable to do anything to help her.

It all started when Victoria experienced flu-like symptoms and believed it will pass in just a couple of days. The truth was way more horrifying as she stopped having control on her arms and couldn’t swallow properly.

After slipping into a coma, it was around two years that she was completely unaware of what was happening around her, as she was placed at a hospital’s bed and fed through a tube. However, after those two years, Victoria ‘woke up’ mentally. She could hear everything and everyone, but as her body was still not cooperating and she was completely unable to move any part of it, no one knew she was actually still there; aware of her surrounding, but trapped.

She heard the doctors telling her parents how she was brain-dead and she would spend the rest of her life in the vegetative state she found herself in.

In December of 2009, however, she managed to make eye contact with her family, and by 2010, this brave girl was completely out of the vegetative state. Incredible, isn’t it?

After waking up, Victoria told ESPN, “My parents believed in me. They set up a hospital room in our house in New Hampshire, and took care of me. My three brothers — I’m a triplet and we have an older brother — talked to me and kept me in the know about what was going on outside of my room. They empowered me to fight and get stronger. They didn’t know I could hear them, but I could.”

The four years of struggling were now over, and this vibrant lady could again speak and eat all by herself.

But, she still wasn’t able to move her legs. Doctors’ prognosis were that she will never walk again. So, Victoria found herself wheelchair bound.

On the first day of school after waking up from the coma, her classmates were far from considerate and compassionate. They bullied her and made fun of her, which crushed Victoria’s will to fight further. Luckily, it was just a temporary feeling, as this girl is nothing less than a real fighter.

As time passed by, her brothers though she should go back to swimming, as she used to be great doing it. Although hesitant at first, Victoria dove into the waters and that’s where she felt free again.

In 2012, at just 17 years old, Victoria took part at the Paralympic Olympic Games as part of the US swimming team and won a gold medal in the 100 meter freestyle.

In 2013, Victoria moved to San Diego to participate in the Project Walk program. There, she worked with professionals who help paralyzed people with their walking.

It was only two years later, in 2015, when Victoria took her first small step. And she never stopped walking ever since.

This young lady’s story is indeed an incredible and a miraculous one. It speaks of courage, bravery, and never ever giving up.

Missing 4-year-old found dead inside his toy chest after climbing inside in the night

0

Four-year-old Kache Wallis from Hurricane, Utah, was reported missing after his grandma put him to sleep in his bed but he wasn’t there the following morning. She looked for him everywhere and when she failed to find him she alerted the authorities.

Police searched the house and determined the boy wasn’t home after which a frantic search for Kache started. A number of local volunteers took part in it and a missing alert was issued while everyone prayed for the little one to be found safe and sound.

Unfortunately, after a second search of the home, the boy was found dead inside a toy chest in his room.

According to new reports, the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office have investigated the 4-year-old’s passing and determined his official cause of death was “positional asphyxiation.” They believe that Kache climbed into the chest and died of deprivation of oxygen. After family members were questioned, the boy’s death was ruled accidental.

The City of Hurricane Police Department released a statement about the case and shared their sadness over the tragic incident. “Our sincerest condolences are sent to Kache and his family,” the statement read.

Rest in peace, Kache.

Courteney Cox reveals she was hurt being the only ‘Friends’ star not nominated for an Emmy

0

For Courtney Cox, who never dreamed of becoming an actress as a child, it all started when director Brian De Palma had gotten the gig of producing and directing Bruce Springsteen’s music video to the smash hit “Dancing In The Dark” which she got to be part of.

The video, which was heavily played on MTV, was filmed during Springsteen’s concert at the St. Paul Civic Center in Minnesota on June 29, 1984, and Cox got the role of an adoring fan in the front row. Not being aware that she was a “fake fan,” “The Boss” invited her on stage where the two danced side by side.

This video was the start of Cox’s career in front of camera.

“That was not good dancing on my part,” Cox told Yahoo. “I would only [recreate] that as a joke.”

Youtube/BruceSpringsteen

Once she attracted the attention of the wide public and a number of producers, Cox got roles in films such as Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, co-starring with Jim Carrey, and Family Ties.

It wasn’t until 1985, when Marta Kauffman and David Crane created the story of six friends living in New York, that Courtney Cox became a huge star. Overnight, her name, and that of her co-stars, was part of every headline. Until this very day, the cult TV series Friends remains one of the best in history of film.

Cox seemed like the perfect person to portray Monica Geller, the neat-freak known for her obsessive cleanliness.

“I love Monica, because not only is she a grown-up, and that’s good for people to see, but I can bring more of my own personality to her, and I’ve never really been able to do that before,” Cox explained. “She can be goofy and angry and sarcastic and a little bit naughty. People think of her sort as the goody-goody and then prude on the show, but I think she has more sex than any of the others.”

The finale of Friends was watched by 50 million Americans. For the last season, the six friends were paid each $1 million per episode. With the show being on the screens ever since it first aired, Cox and her co-workers earn about $20 million per year just for the reruns.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Cox has a net worth of $150 million.

Over the course of ten seasons and 236 episodes, each of the stars of the show, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, earned an Emmy nomination except for Cox.

“Sure. Yeah, it always hurt my feelings,” Cox told Howard Stern. “When every single cast member was nominated but me, it definitely hurt my feelings. I was happy for everybody, and then when it was finally like, ‘Oh, I’m the only one?’ It hurt.

“I want them to win, I just also want to be part of I’ve never wanted to take anything away from anyone,” she added. “I just sometimes want to be included in certain things. And these girls on the show and the guys, everyone deserved every [nomination].”

Cox, of course, moved on to be part of a number of other projects and received plenty of awards. For one, she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role on Cougar Town for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical and in 2021, she got her recognition for the series which changed her life as she and her cast-mates were nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for the Friends reunion special.

Besides being a famous actress, one of the roles she enjoys most in life is that of a mother. She married actor David Arquette in 1999 and the two welcomed daughter Coco Arquette. The couple divorced in 2003. Today, Cox is in a relationship with musician and record producer Johnny McDaid who is part of the band Snow Patrol. The two started dating in 2013.

Being a huge celebrity and an idol of many, Cox spoke openly of her plastic surgeries. She used botox and fillers, but she eventually decided to dissolve all her fillers and embrace her natural beauty.

“I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was, I hope I do,” Cox told New Beauty.

“Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend. “

She’s not afraid to post photos of herself without any make-up on and we believe she looks beautiful.

Owner was set to put newborn puppy down but vet tech wouldn’t allow it

0

Stories like this teach as that being different isn’t that bad. Many times people and animals who have been deemed outcast by the society turned into valuable members of that same group and proved everyone wrong. The only thing needed for this to happen is a bit of love, kindness, and words of comfort.

When puppy Bronson was born, he somehow didn’t fit the litter because of his condition. He was born with a deformity known as a cleft palate that prevented him from nursing, and the owners though the only thing they could do was for the poor baby to be euthanized.

Source: Imgur

This could have easily happened if it wasn’t for an angel that entered this puppy’s life. A vet tech who is an Imgur user and goes by the name of KaffeKalle on Reddit took Bronson – she gave him this name- under her wing. She was fully aware that almost all of the animals born with this condition eventually die of starvation, unable to suckle milk from their mothers because of the roof in the mouth, especially if it affects the hard or soft palate.

This young lady was determined to not let go of the baby she grew so fond of.

When he was taken at the vet’s office, other vet technicians convinced the family to give the puppy to KaffeKalle so that she could foster him.

Source: Imgur

The vet fed Bronson with a tube for a week when she realized that the puppy responded to the method pretty well. It was then when she knew there was a chance for him to pull through.

“At this point, I have been up every 1-2 hours religiously tube-feeding this little boy with a red rubber tube and syringing Esbilac (puppy milk replacer). I am exhausted, but realizing my little ‘science experiment’ might actually survive,” she wrote on Imgur.

“This little boy traveled to work with me every day. Being that I worked in a veterinary clinic, it was easy to feed and stimulate him every 2 hours. He really loved his binky.”

Source: Imgur

His condition was severe but by the time he turned one year old, the cleft palate grew closer together and he was ready to undergo the much needed surgery.

“Bronson is starting to look like a real pupper. I LITERALLY CAN’T EVEN AT THIS POINT,” she wrote.

“[He] is starting to get into [stuff] and running around the house like a madman. I get him this superman t-shirt to watch him fly. He’s absolutely naughty and I love it.”

Source: Imgur

KaffeKalle was worried about the upcoming surgery. “Bronson’s cleft palate was a particularly bad one – it extended from his hand all the way to his soft palate. The surgeon I worked with was a little skeptical about my taking this type of genetic defect on, but was also wanting to see how he would do. He would continue to monitor Bronson’s defect so we could decide a day for surgery.”

Finally, when the day of the surgery came, Bronson came through it like a champion.

“Here he is today with Layla, his 12-year-old pit X sister, and Harley, his 10-year-old border collie brother. The tissue is almost completely healed, he is able to play with toys, chew on rawhides, swim in lakes, go on walks, bring me sticks…basically live the rest of his life as a perfectly normal lab… I love my dogs.”

Source: Imgur

What a beautiful ending! It took someone as caring and as devoted as KaffeKalle for a beautiful dog to be given a chance to live.

Expert claims Janice Dickinson has undergone ‘pretty much every facial plastic surgery there is’

0

The self-proclaimed “first supermodel,” Janice Dickinson, has had quite a career in the world of fashion and modeling. During the 70’s, she achieved stardom and was known worldwide, thus got on the covers of some of the most prestigious magazines such as Vogue and Elle. Later on, she tried herself as a judge on one of the most famous reality shows, America’s Next Top Model and even started her own modeling agency.

However, her life wasn’t always an easy one. She grew up as the middle child of three girls and her family moved from New York to Florida when she was still just a child. Her mother was a nurse and her father was in the Navy. She describes him as “a rageaholic, a s***-kickin’ Texan. He had a bit of a temper but on the other hand, he was funny, tall and strong.”

Once, he told her that she should have been born a boy, and as a 3 year old, she couldn’t understand why he was saying something like that. His words, however, had a strong impact on Janice while growing up and she did a lot of boy things trying to live up to her father’s expectations.

“I loved growing up, and I didn’t, I don’t want to bring you down, I am an Alpha female, so I was told by my dad, the cowboy, that I should have been born a man,” she said.

Shutterstock/joe seer

Janice says her big mouth brought her in a lot of trouble. The nuns at the Catholic school beat her, as well as her ballet teacher. Once home, her dad often did the same.

As she grew older, Janice fell in love with fashion and modeling. She once saw a photo of Lauren Hutton on the cover of American Vogue and dreamed of getting there herself.

At the start of her career, she struggled to land a job. “Getting the door slammed in my face at every appointment, ‘Sorry. Your face isn’t the right shape to sell magazines.’ ‘Sorry. You’re way too ethnic.’ ‘Excuse me. You don’t serve our purposes.’ ‘You’ll never make it in this town. You’ll never make it, period,’” she told Tampa Bay.

Instagram/janicedickinson

But she never gave up, and soon, she started working in Europe which opened the doors to jobs in the U.S. She found herself working with Richard Avedon for American Vogue, and Guy Bourdin for French Vogue, and so was able to fly around the world first-class. That was her ticket to the world’s stage.

“Before Kate, Christy, Naomi, and Alek Wek came along, I’m flying to Japan with Calvin Klein and Iman,” Janice said. “I just worked. I was Versace’s favorite. Issey Miyake’s favorite.”

Being one of the most famous models of all time also meant being friends with celebrities. In the 1980s, she dated Mick Jagger, Warren Beatty, and Jack Nicholson, and was linked to the likes of Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.

In 2003, Janice Dickinson became a high-profile television judge on the show America’s Top Model but left it in 2008. She claimed that she and Tyra Banks didn’t get along.

“We went [to] a lot of places, but sitting next to Tyra for hours and hours can be daunting because she didn’t really like me, and we didn’t really get along. And she never did Vogue. I did Vogue. She did Elle, and I used to constantly remind her of that,” Dickinson said on the podcast Behind The Velvet Rope with David Yontef.

Janice also claimed publicly that every decision about the show, including which contestant gets to leave it isn’t decided by the judges but by CoverGirl. The show was quick to respond, stating: “This is completely untrue.”

Janice Dickinson was married four times and is a mother of two, son Nathan Shields and daughter Savannah Dickinson. In 2016, she tied the knot with Robert Gerner and they are still happily married.

Besides being the “first” supermodel, Janice is also known for her numerous plastic surgeries. In 2013, she filed for bankruptcy. According to court papers, most of her $1 million debt seemed to revolve around unpaid plastic surgery bills, as the New York Post reported.

When she appeared on the television show Botched to fix her breasts, she said: “I am no stranger to plastic surgery.” Over the years, she has gone under the knife many times. Among the rest, she admitted she did facelifts, a tummy tuck, neck lift, breast job, Botox, and liposuction.

“I live for plastic surgery,” she told In Touch Magazine in 2014.

Shutterstock/Jaguar PS

She, however, says she would never do butt implants or anything on her cheeks because she believes she has “perfect bone structure.”

She’s not planning on stopping going under the knife unless her son asks her to.

Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, who has not treated Janice Dickinson, told Radar Online that he suspects Janice has done pretty much every procedure there is to do.

“Janice has made no bones about how much plastic surgery she’s had. The self-proclaimed world’s first supermodel has even undergone some procedures on reality TV. You name it, she appears to have had it,” Youn said.

“I believe she’s undergone pretty much every facial plastic surgery there is, including a facelift, eyelid lift, lip injections, Botox, fat injections, and a brow lift. She’s probably single handedly paid for her plastic surgeon’s house!” he said jokingly.

“While Janice doesn’t look a whole lot like her previous self, she’s holding up pretty well … With quite a bit of help.”

Plastic surgeries or not, Janice Dickinson is a very beautiful woman.
