This is what the twin sisters who shared the role of Tabitha from “Bewitched” look like today

0

An out of this world creature like a witch marrying an ordinary man and wanting to lead just a normal life of a typical housewife sounds like something I would like to see unfolding on the TV screens. But wait, the series Bewitched which ran for eight seasons between 1964 and 1972 is exactly about that. If you haven’t seen it yet, maybe you should search it and check it out.

One of the characters in the show, that of Tabitha, was played by twins Diane and Erin Murphy, who took turns to act.

Sweet Tabitha was the eldest daughter of the magically gifted witch Samantha, played by Elizabeth Montgomery, and her husband Darrin. Being born to a “special” mom, the little girl showed her witchcraft skills from very early age. Her twitching her tiny nose made many fall in love with her character. Sweet Tabitha had to be taught when not to use her superpowers and it gave her parents hard time.

Today, the sisters who shared the role of Tabitha are 56 years old. They were born on June 17, 1964 in Encino, California. When the girls were born, their mom quit their job as a teacher to take care of them. Their dad, Dan Murphy, owned a business college, Murphy’s College, in Los Angeles.

Diane and Erin are fraternal twins and they don’t look like one another today, but when they were young they were very similar and could play the same role.

Speaking of the time they got to be part of the show, Erin told Fox in 2017, “They had previously shown it in black and white, so the big push of the third season was that the show was going to color and that they were going to focus more on the character of Tabitha. So they were looking for someone who looked like Elizabeth Montgomery and wasn’t afraid of the lights. I auditioned with my fraternal twin sister Diane and we got the part.”

Eventually, during season four, it was Erin who took over the role as the girls didn’t resemble one another that much any longer.

The show represented a unique experience for the sisters, especially Erin who said she enjoyed being on set and around so many famous actors and actresses she remained close to after the show was over.

“I loved working on Bewitched, and it gave me some very unique and wonderful experiences, but eventually, I wanted to lead a more regular life. So I quit the entertainment business when I was thirteen years old,” she said.

She and her TV mom remained close friends until May 1995, when Elizabeth passed away of colorectal cancer, age 62.

“A lot of people who knew Liz well and knew me told me how much I’m like her,” Murphy told ABC. “And I think it’s because we spent 12 hours a day together growing up. I looked to her as a parent, and she would tell me what to do like a parent. In a lot of ways I’m so much like her than I am my own mom, which is hilarious.”

She also said how she remembers spending a lot of time in Agnes Morehead’s dressing room, who played Endora, Tabitha’s maternal grandmother. “She was probably my favorite person on the show in retrospect,” Erin said.

“I loved her like a grandparent. I had grandparents who lived in other states I didn’t get to see and she didn’t have grandchildren, and we had a really great, loving relationship. She’d do little things like draw little cartoons for me in between scenes. She’d tell me stories. I loved going into her dressing room because everything was purple. I just thought she was the most colorful, most beautiful person.”

Today, Erin, who had some minor TV roles after Bewitched was over and was part of commercials, works as a TV host and correspondent. In 2017, she played the role of Tabitha again in the comedy short TV Therapy.

She is a motivational speaker and a business owner as well. Her company Erin Murphy Knits sells alpaca knitwear that she makes herself. She also owns the company Slim Chillers which sells frozen vodka martini ice pops loved all over the world.

“I never really thought I would wind up in the alcohol business, but I have enjoyed a few good martinis in my life,” Murphy, who is now living in California, said in 2014.

Erin married three times and has six children, all boys aged 17 to 35. She loves when people recognize her as Tabitha and says she feels really flattered when fans tell her she did an awesome job playing the young witch.

“I think it’s very kind and I’m very open to posing for pictures, meeting fans and answering questions about ‘Bewitched.’ I’m thankful that people appreciate what I did. I think it’s awesome,” she told Fox.

Diane, on the other hand, lives in Santa Barbara and according to her LinkedIn page, she’s self-employed and is working with medical writing and clinical development. She has a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of California, and an M.B.A in management from Golden Gate University.

She’s also an associate executive director of Shelter Services for Women, which is an organization providing shelter to women and children victims of domestic abuse. Diane is at the same time a member of the board of directors of the Greater Santa Barbara Community Association, which gives scholarships to homosexual students in the community.

The role of Tabitha is truly an iconic one. It left a mark in the life of many generations who enjoyed watching the show.

Hero doctor gave his life trying to wrestle gun away from mass shooter in church

0

Multiple people were hit in the shooting at Geneva Presbyterian Church in the Laguna Woods area of Orange County with one losing his life trying to protect those of others.

The man killed during the tragic incident is well-respected doctor John Cheng who was a valuable member of the community, a husband, and a father of two.

Five other people were wounded, and the number could be much bigger had it not been for Dr. Cheng who bravely charged at the gunman, allowing others to seek cover.

“Without the actions of Cheng, there is not doubt there would be numerous additional victims,” the Sheriff’s department told the media. A number of people who witnessed the tragic shooting gave testament to the brave actions of Dr. Cheng.

“This was a politically motivated hate incident, a grievance that this individual had between himself and the Taiwanese community,” Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes shared with the media.

The shooter was later identified as David Chou, who was arrested and charged for the murder of Dr. Cheng and attempted murder of five other people who were seriously injured.

FBI representative Kristi Johnson believes that the shooting was motivated by “some type of hate,” and authorities say the shooting was pre planned as Chou nail shut the doors of the church trying to prevent the people to escape.

District Attorney Todd Spitzer said of Cheng’s actions, “He sacrificed himself so others could live.”

We are so very sorry for the loss of such a brave and respected man as Dr. John Cheng. Our thoughts and prayers go to the grieving family.

“Dr. Cheng is an inspiring hero at such time and the ultimate example of courage, sacrifice for others and love to his fellow human beings,” one person writes, and we agree that this man showed the courage not many would. Sadly, it cost him his life.

Boy at Disneyland has surprise sneak up during photo-shoot

0

Is there anything cuter than young kids being told they are taking a trip to an amusement park? Their hearts start bouncing the moment they hear the magical word “Disneyland.” Wow, all those captivating stories of Snow White and the dwarfs, Aladdin and his magic lamp, brave Moana, or the Beauty and the Beast unfolding in front of the sparkling eyes of the tiny humans is a sight to remember.

However, for one family, the trip to the “Happiest Place on Earth” turned out to be even more special than expected, and the reason aren’t all the fun things they got to do, but something quite different and unanticipated.

Flickr/Sean MacEntee

The boy was looking forward to the trip to the magical world of Walt Disney, not only because of his most beloved characters, but for the thrilling and exciting rides too. This place has been making children’s wishes come true since 1955, when the park was first built.

But, no matter how excited he was, he was still feeling a bit blue because one of his most important persons wasn’t there to share all the fun with. The boy’s father was in the Navy and five months out of his hometown and away from the family.

YouTube

The family made sure they take lots of pictures from the boy so that he remembers this very special day forever. There was magic all around him, but the real surprise was yet to be revealed.

As he was standing still and posing, a man approached the boy from behind. He was wearing a Navy uniform and squatted behind him. At that moment, the kid turned around and said “Daddy!”

YouTube

The next thing we know is that the two embraced each other firmly and had huge grins on their faces. This was a very exceptional father-son moment that melted the hearts of the onlookers, who greeted them with loud applause.

The dad said “I’m home” and they hugged and kissed each other again. Being separated for so long was difficult for both the father and his family, and now that they were together again they could have the most memorable days of their life in the world of enchantment.

It’s a beautiful homecoming surprise that requires a tissue or two.

If having a sibling makes you rich, just imagine having a twin.

The bond between twins is created before they are born. Unlike other babies, they have a friend and a companion even in the womb and that makes their relationship kind of special.

Getting used to the presence of their twin sibling in their life, most twins can’t imagine spending time separated.

Just look at these two lovely newborn babies. They got to hang out while they were still developing and once out and having a plenty of space, they still choose to be close to one another and cuddle as they did even before being welcomed into this world.

It’s obvious they love being next to each other and enjoy every second as they are calm and have cute smiles on their faces.

They only open their tiny eyes for a second when their mommy gets closer with the camera.

Seeing them enjoy while cuddle is a real pleasure that fills our heart with joy. We are so happy the proud parents decided to share the video with the world.

People went crazy over the video the moment Uniland posted it on their Facebook page. It was seen more than 22 million times, and many people couldn’t help by share it and comment on it.

However, as it turned out, the video was an old one and the twins are now toddlers. Learning of this, people were curious to see how they look like now and whether they love each other as much as the day one.

The twin girls’ names are Sofia and Sara and they are as cute and as adorable as when they were tiny babies.

Their parents post photos and videos of them on the Instagram account Tobon_twins.

Lovely Sofia and Sara love posing and traveling. They have visited many places in Europe so far and have lots of fun with their parents. The family lives in Florida, U.S.

Looking at the beautiful family, I wish I had twins too. That way, I would know my children will have a friend for life.

Not only they all look very nice, but the little girls wearing same outfits and a bunch of fancy accessories make people turn their heads around and go ‘aww.’

The parents, Juan Carlos and Juliana Tobon have successful careers as real-estate professionals and spend a lot of time working, but they always find the time to be around their girls who make them the happiest parents on Earth.

Brave man rescues toddler ejected from vehicle and thrown into bay by jumping 25 feet off bridge

0

A major car crash which took place on the Route 90 bridge in Ocean City on Sunday left eight people, including a toddler, injured and hospitalized.

The Ocean City fire and police units were sent at the scene as the call was upgraded to a rescue response.

Posted by Rob Korb Photography on Sunday, 2 May 2021

During the collision, an 18-month-old toddler was ejected from one of the cars which was left hanging over the guardrail and fell into the Assawoman Bay. Luckily, an angel in the form of an onlooker who found themselves at the scene came to the rescue. The good Samaritan jumped 25 feet off bridge and into the bay and saved the little one’s life, WJZ reports.

Posted by Ocean City Fire Department on Sunday, 2 May 2021

According to Rob Korb, who works at the fire department, the rescuer initiated CPR on the toddler before both of them were taken to land by a nearby boater. The child was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to John’s Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore. The rest of the people who were involved in the crash were as well hospitalized.

The heroic person was Jonathan Bauer who got to tell the story of the rescue himself. As it turned out, he and his daughter were both at the scene when they heard tires screech. “Then [he saw] the truck swaying back and forth like someone was losing control and trying to overcompensate,” he said during a press conference.

When Bauer managed to release himself from his car which got stuck among the rest of the cars, a person pointed towards the water. “He just pointed down at the water and when I looked over I saw the car seat and then about six feet away from the car seat was a little girl,” Bauer said.

“She was on her back, completely floating, head completely out of the water, arms moving, legs kicking, and a little pink dress.”

When Bauer’s daughter saw him jumping, she described it as “the scariest moment of her life.”

Luckily, everything turned for the best at the end. Bauer managed to safe the girl and both of them were later taken to a shore by a boat.

“Jonathan’s truly a humble hero and that’s what makes this even more special than it already was,” Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said, as per Ocean City Today.

“This is a day of thank-yous. This was a really tragic accident … the ending of the story is everyone is okay, and they’re okay because of everyone in this room.”

Emily Wickersham, the star of NCIS, was intimidated to meet Mark Harmon and the rest of the cast

0

Over the years, NCIS became one of the most beloved shows on TV and the cast members turned into household names.

Some of the actors left the show after some time and others joined in, making it intense and somewhat unpredictable. It revolves around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service combining elements of the military drama and police procedural genres.

The main character, who gave the show a soul, Mark Harmon, decided to leave it after whooping 18 seasons, though producers said the doors are always open if he ever decides to return. Another much-loved character who is no longer part of NCIS is that of but-kicking detective Ziva David, portrayed by beautiful Cote de Pablo. As she departed from the series, another character was introduced, that of Special Agent Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham.

As a child, Wickersham wasn’t interested in acting, but over time, it came naturally to her. According to her, while growing up, she was into sports and was somewhat of a “tomboy.”

She enrolled at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, but decided to drop out after two years. It was then that she decided to take up acting classes. “Then I was in New York – just kind of living in the city, not really knowing what I was going to do – and I started taking acting classes because I felt like, ‘If I’ve dropped out of college, I should probably do something worthwhile and challenge myself,’” she told CBS.

“Before that, acting had not been on my radar at all.

“I [loved it right away]. I mean, I found it challenging,” she added. “It was hard for me because at first, I didn’t really know what I was doing. But with acting, you get the bug; it’s intoxicating. I started getting smaller roles, TV and film auditions and didn’t want to stop.”

Shutterstock/Kathy Hutchins

One of her first ever roles was a minor one in the popular series The Sopranos. The experience made her fall in love with acting and that was the start of her career. Later on, she appeared in The Gamekillers, Gardener of Eden, and made a guest appearance on Criminal Minds.

It was in 2013 that Wickersham’s agents told her to audition for the role of Ellie Bishop on NCIS. The audition was a success and she was offered the role.

Speaking of taking part in the series, the actress confessed she was nervous at first because the rest of the cast worked together for so long.

Youtube/Pierre’s

“I was nervous in the beginning. Coming onto a show where this tight-knit cast has worked together for 10, 11 years was intimidating. Nerve-racking,” she told CBS. The fact that each of the episodes was watched by millions was overwhelming by itself.

“Yeah, so that was scary. But it’s been fun, and the cast has been so sweet and welcoming. They made it a pleasant transition for me. I hope it was easy on their end.

“I try not to read some of the stuff online, but for the most part, I feel like people have embraced the character in a much more positive way than I expected. People were very attached to Ziva! I wasn’t replacing her, but it was scary to come into that. People are crazy about the show. [We] have such wonderful fans,” Wickersham added.

The cast accepted Wickersham as one of them from the very first moment. Harmon said that her name was painted on a parking space from the first day she arrived.

Instagram/emilywickersham

The 38-year-old actress was part of NCIS for eight years. Then, after 172 episodes, she decided her time on NCIS was over in 2021. She never spoke of the reasons behind her decision but said that she was “hanging her hat and jacket up.”

“What a great ride it’s been,” she wrote on Instagram. “This cast, this crew, are top-notch. I can’t say enough kind words about this group that I’ve had the pleasure of working with for close to eight years now and 172 episodes later.”

She added she was lucky to be part of such a show. “A moment in time I surely won’t forget. Thank you, CBS and ‘NCIS’ for including me in a part of television history. Time goes fast.”

Shutterstock/Dfree

Wickersham tends to keep her life private. What we know of her is that she and her boyfriend James Badge Dale welcomed their first son, Cassius, on December 31, 2021. “Welcome to the world Cassius Wickersham Dale,” she wrote on Instagram. “Just in time to join the party to ring in the New Year. You are more than [James], and I could ever have imagined. We are so in love with you.”

Wickersham’s boyfriend is an actor himself best known for his role in the classic Martin Scorsese film The Departed.

In the past, Wickersham was married to singer Blake Anderson Hanley. The two were together for eight years before calling it a quits. She never spoke of her divorce, but Hanley did open up about their failed marriage in an interview with CBS and said, “Coming home after such a long time, it felt odd. I had gone through a lot of heartbreak. With everything I’ve gone through, it has been a year… it has been a journey.”

We are glad Wickersham is doing great in life but we sure miss her on NCIS.

Old man looks at wife of 59 years and says “I know you can’t hear me, but I love you”

0

This is a story that speaks about the true face of love, the one which is pure to the core and makes the world go round. We are so glad the writer decided to share what he witnesses with “Love What Matters” and with all of us. This is so deep.

Today, I witnessed a story of love. Not the type of love shared by young people who are half full of passion, topped off with hormones. It was not the type of dewy love experienced by newlyweds who are enthralled with the idea of exclusive devotion and the happily ever after.

In such a world as ours, where vows are broken as quickly as the downing of a gavel, what I saw today was a rarity, a diamond exquisite in design.

Today I saw a man, a broken man, standing vigil over his most prized possession. Here was love personified.

When he walked into the room his steps were faulty, but his determination was undaunted. His eyes were fixed upon his destination at the front of the room. A steel grey casket sat under the colored lights. Half of its lid was propped open; the closed half held a spray of vivid, mix-matched flowers adorned with ribbons which read the words “wife” and “mother.”

Upon approaching and without pause, he leaned down and kissed her painted lips, his frail body trembling to keep upright.

So gentle and soft came his words to her. Surely these words were spoken innumerable times, but this time it was shrouded in finality.

“I know you can’t hear me,” he whispered. “But, I love you.”

And his tears fell.

Family visitation was not scheduled for another hour or so, but he had come early. He wouldn’t squander these last few hours. For over 60 years she had been by his side, but it still wasn’t enough. Not near enough.

So, he pulled up a chair and they sat.

A cane on his right side, his deceased wife on his left, he sat sidled up to the casket for nearly an hour. He rubbed her arms and patted her hands. It was if he was comforting her, but the truth was, he was comforting himself.

It didn’t seem to bother him that her skin was cold, her body stiff and rigid; nor did it bother him that she didn’t respond to the words he whispered. Strange as it seemed, this could have been a normal scene from any given evening within their home. Except for the plethora of lavish flora and small gifts sent by sympathetic friends, this scenario seemed completely normal.

When family began to trickle in, he was still sitting there, holding her hand, stroking her hair.

“She looks good, doesn’t she?”

he asked when his children approached. Everyone agreed. And they cried.

For nearly five hours he stayed nearby, exhausted, spent, until his body demanded he retire and his mind pleaded for respite.

This man, this devoted man, had shown more grace in his time of grief than many do in times of plenty. I stood by in awe, watching faithfulness on display.

Never had I seen a man so broken, robbed of his happiness by the curse of death. I wondered as I watched him, what would he do tomorrow and the day after that? Today was the easy part. Today she was still here, lying beside him, able to be touched or seen or kissed. Tomorrow, after she is laid deep in the ground, and he returns to their home, what then?

Her things will still be there – the smell of her skin, scribbled grocery lists, her favorite chair, leftovers in the fridge, their bed. Their bed. How does one sleep alone after 59 years of lying next to your best friend? I can’t imagine ever sleeping again.

Today, I witnessed a story of love. And I shall witness it again tomorrow when the story finally ends, and the stage is empty, and the lights go dark.

Please share to inspire others to show their appreciation for those who risk their lives every day to keep us safe.
