When going on a first date, most of us hope for magic and sparks, but the reality can be way more different than that. Sometimes, first dates can be awkward and make us leave the place as soon as possible.

1. Thank God It’s Over

This first date ended wrong because the person a Redditor decided to go out with was so entitled, he made the night all about himself. He spent the first hour complaining about every aspect of his life, without giving the woman any chance to say anything about herself.

He went to the extreme to order food for her without even consulting her choices and then spilled the juice all over himself but blamed the staff while asserting the superiority of his home country.

As the evening proceeded, he expressed his desire to become a manager and fire everyone he would see as incompetent.

When they finally asked for the check, she suggested splitting it, but he started yelling at her. In order to avoid making a scene, she let him pay for it and then let him walk her home. Once at her door, she said goodbye but he tried to force himself on her. She pushed him and then threw the money for her part of the bill at him and told him to leave.

Thank God she hadn’t heard from him again.

2. Making the Exit

This Redditor went on a date with someone who insisted on dining at one of the fanciest and most expensive restaurants. However, she spent the entire night using her phone, taking phone calls and answering messages. She wasn’t really interested in engaging in any meaningful conversation because she was apparently too busy.

The waitress noticed how awkward this situation was so she discretely offered separate bills which allowed the OP to settle his bill before leaving the place.

3. A Kiss for Two

A man in the Air Force, 18 at the time, was on a date set up by his roommate. It was a double date, and they decided to watch a movie. However, everyone was stunned when this man’s date brought up a giant stuffed rabbit named Pebbles with her. After the movie, they had some ice cream and drove to his date’s cousin’s home. Before entering the place, the date asked from the man to kiss not only her but her stuffed rabbit as well to avoid any jealousy.

No matter how crazy that sounded, he did kiss both.

4. Calling It Quits

A man went on a blind date and was baffled to see his date arriving at the theater with her parents and her nine-year-old brother who joined them for the movie. As they started watching the film, her brother kept kicking the man’s seat.

He could no longer endure the situation so he excused himself to the restroom but left the place instead. And yes, he added that his date looked nothing like her online photos.

5. A Baffling Request

A woman shared the story of a truly awkward first date that took place at the London Zoo. She said she was surprised when her date asked her to pay for her ticket. She agreed and then he pulled out a two-for-one voucher, which allowed him to enter for free while she did pay for her ticket. What a baffling move!

6. A Major Turn Off

While having dinner with a man, a woman noticed his wedding ring accidentally slip out of his pocket when he reached for his wallet. Disgusted by the situation, she immediately threw some cash on the table and decided to walk home. It was a rare occasion where circumstances were too repulsive for her to have an appetite.

Prince William wanted his brother and Meghan to marry in ‘small village church’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding resembled a fairytale.

From the moment the world learned the two were dating, everyone was eager to see how things between them would unveil, and not long after, Prince Harry popped the question during a quiet night at home while Meghan was roasting a chicken.

Recalling that special moment, the former Suits star said, “It was just so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee. As a matter of fact, I could barely let [him] finish proposing. I was like, ‘Can I say yes now?’”

The beautiful ceremony of tying the knot between Harry and Meghan took place on on May 19, 2018. Among the guests were a lot of celebrities such as George Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Serena Williams, James Corden, and Oprah Winfrey. Meghan wore a wedding dress designed by Givenchy’s then-creative director, Clare Waight Keller, and the stunning Queen Mary’s bandeau tiara which belonged to the Queen’s grandmother, Queen Marry.

Before the wedding, Harry and his brother William allegedly got into an “argument” over the venue of the lavish ceremony.

In his memoir Spare, Harry recalled that he initially suggested he and Meghan marry at Westminster Abbey, but William wasn’t happy with the idea since he and Kate married there seven years prior. Then, when Harry proposed St. Paul’s Cathedral, his brother said, “Too grand,” adding: “Plus, Pa and Mummy did it there,” according to Harry.

As the conversation proceeded, William made a suggestion on his own, telling his brother he and Meghan should marry at Tetbury, an intimate location near King Charles’ and Queen Camilla’s royal residence of Highgrove House, Gloucestershire.

“I snorted. Tetbury? The chapel near Highgrove? Seriously, Willy? How many does that place seat?” Harry recalled in Spare.

“Isn’t that what you said you wanted – a small, quiet wedding?” William reportedly answered.

“In fact we wanted to explore. Barefoot in Botswana, with maybe a friend officiating, that was our dream. But we were expected to share this moment with other people. It wasn’t up to us,” Harry wrote.

Finally, the royals settled for St. George’s Chapel at Windsor.

The discussions regarding Harry and Meghan’s big day didn’t end with the venue, allegedly. According to Harry, there was a debate within the family about whether Meghan should wear a veil for the ceremony since she was a divorcee. At the same time, William got angry at Harry for refusing to shave off his beard.

This, however, didn’t affect Harry and Meghan’s big day.

Speaking of the moment he waited for the woman of his dreams at the altar, the Duke recalled, “I stood at the altar, smoothed the front of my Household Cavalry uniform, watched Meg floating towards me. I’d worked hard to choose the right music for her procession, and ultimately I’d landed on Handel’s ‘Eternal Source of Light Divine’. Now, as the soloist’s voice rang out above our heads, I thought I’d chosen well. Indeed, as Meg came nearer and nearer, I was giving thanks for all my choices.”

Harry’s best man was one of his old friends, Charlie, which surprised many as they expected the role to be given to William since Harry was his best man at his wedding to Kate.

Some royal experts believe that Harry asked Charlie instead of his brother to be his best man because the feud between the brothers had probably started somewhere around the wedding.

“I asked what was really happening. Was he sulking because he wasn’t my best man?” Harry wrote. “Was he annoyed because I had asked my old friend Charlie instead? (The Royal Family announced Willy was the best man as they had done with me when he and Kate got married. Did that have something to do with it?).”

Despite everything that preceded the wedding of Harry and Meghan, it is certain that it was a fabulous one.

Woman blocks a man after he buys her a $500+ dinner

Meeting David, who could keep up with her random train of thought, somehow felt right for Penelope. He was a teacher and one of the most charming guys she has ever met. As they engaged in a deep and meaningful conversation about books, going from classics to sci-fi, he suddenly asked her about her favorite place to eat.

Penelope smiled. There was this fancy restaurant, which served food that felt it was coming from heaven, where she would go whenever she would reach certain milestone in her life. The perfect place for celebrations and a potential first date. But the place was very pricey, and she didn’t want to mention it, but she still did it. However, she then suggested a nice Mexican place that offered “over 300 tequilas and tacos with handmade tortillas that are to die for.” On top of it, it was easy on the wallet.

However, David decided that the two go to that pricey restaurant Penelope mentioned in the first place.

The evening was fabulous. It was more than she ever expected from a date with someone she had only seen once.

They ordered appetizers—those heavenly little bites she loved—and yes, the cocktails were as mesmerizing as ever.

Dish after dish came to their table as they laughed and laughed through the night. However, when the time came for the bill to be paid, something awkward happened. As Penelope offered to split it, since it hit over $500, she took some money out of her purse and her credit card fell on the table accidentally. David was quick to pick it up, but he didn’t return it immediately, instead, he took the time to analyze it, which confused Penelope.

What’s most, David scanned every tiny detail of it before putting it down. He then muttered something along the lines, “You should be careful with this.”

At that moment, Penelope felt like her privacy was invaded. She couldn’t help but wonder why he would stare at her credit card for that long.

It felt like a red flag, besides the lovely evening, so she blocked his phone number in case he texted her or tried to call her.

When she told a friend of hers about the incident, the friend felt Penelope was little too harsh towards David. She, however, decided not to think about it any longer, and leave things as they were.

Sharing her story online and asking social media users if she did wrong to David, she received plenty of different responses. Some believed that him starring at her credit card was indeed a red flag while others said he was just testing her to see if she offers to pay for the meal herself.

Wealthy landlord evicts elderly woman from her rental, only to find her at his family dinner

When she lost her husband to Covid and later her house was destroyed by a tornado, Diane Salinger, a lovely woman in her fifties, found herself at a crossroads. She contemplated life, and after giving it some thought, she decided to invest the money she was left with into a business at a mid-sized town in Michigan.

Her plan was to sell exotic goods so she bought a tiny grocery store and hoped for the best.

Luckily, the neighborhood where she settled was a cozy one. The people were friendly and accepted her as one of their own. Sadly, the same couldn’t be said for her landlord, Chris, who was a grumpy man and who seemed to only cared about himself.

Diane was the tenant everyone would ask for. She was quiet, paid her rent on time, and never asked for anything.

But one December, it was different. When the due date arrived, she was $120 short on her rent.

When she handed in the envelope to Chris and he started counting the money, he got furious, demanding that she paid the rent in full.

Diane explained that she would have the money in two weeks time, but Chris refused to listen to her. Still, she told him that she was helping some families in need and that she would be able to pay in full on short notice.

Chris started yelling and told her she could be playing Mother Theresa as much as she wanted, but he wouldn’t wait a day. Angry at her, he asked her to leave the place by the end of the week.

“I’m a businessman, not a charity,” he told her and accused her of taking advantage of him.

Chris could see people exiting Diane’s store with bags full of groceries so he was convinced her business was doing well enough to cover the rent in full, and that angered him even more.

Poor Diane found herself on the streets. She was forced to leave the house and look for another place to stay.

In the meantime, Chris didn’t feel any remorse for kicking her out.

A couple of days later, he was getting ready to pay his sister Vanessa a visit. She was a single mother who was raising her son all by herself. Her life was hard, but she was a strong and independent woman Chris loved dearly.

He placed a $20 bill in an envelope for his nephews’ birthday and headed to Vanessa’s.

When she opened the door, a pleasant smell of home-cooked food could be smelled in the air. Vanessa seemed happier than usual. She welcomed Chris in and told him dinner was ready. When he asked about his nephew, Vanessa said he was upstairs, playing video games with one of her friends. At that moment, Chris’ nephew got downstairs with a woman. It was Diane, the woman Chris kicked out of his home.

“I had no idea you were Vanessa’s brother,” Diane said.

Chris was stunned. He realized that one of those needy families Diane said was helping was that of his sister.

“But why isn’t she asking money from me,” he mumbled under his breath. Leaning towards him, Diane whispered, “Because it’s always easier to ask your friends than your family and Vanessa is one hardworking but very proud woman.”

Chris felt ashamed of himself. He now knew he did Diane wrong and wanted to make things right so he offered her to return to the apartment at half the price of the rent she was paying so that she can continue helping people like his sister. What’s most, he promised to match Diane’s help whenever he could.

Diane was glad to accept the offer. She hoped Chris learned a valuable lesson that day.

Strictly star Wynne Evans issues apology as he admits he’s ‘heartbroken’ over ‘wandering hands’ claims

Strictly Come Dancing‘s star Wynne Evans has issued an apology following the incident with fellow dance star Katya Jones after a footage of an awkward exchange between the two emerged.

During the fourth live show of the dance competition, Wynne was seen placing his arm around 35-year-old Katya’s waist. As his hand moved, she brushed it off.

Social media users raised their concerns following this incident, especially after Katya was seen ignoring Wynne’s attempt to high-five her.

Wynne felt the urge to address the issue on a show he hosts on BBC Radio Wales. “I’m absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day,” he said.

“It’s not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we’re really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke.

“It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn’t funny. It has been totally misinterpreted.”

Wynne, 52, added, “Everything’s on Katya’s socials. She’s talked about it. She’s explained that it was a joke. She wasn’t offended in the least. She doesn’t feel uncomfortable.

“We’ve got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I’m sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that’s all there is. There is no real story, really.”

He said he doesn’t want his presence on the dance show to be remembered by this incident that started as a joke but took the wrong turn in the eyes of the viewers.

“I’m absolutely still up for it. I’m having the best time of my life. I just don’t want this to be the bit that people remember.”

Katya also took to the social media to give an explanation, stating what happened between her and Wynne was just a joke the audience didn’t perceived as intended.

“Happy Sunday everyone,” she said at the start of the video she posted. “Now I need to make something crystal clear. The hand incident that happened on Saturday night was a very silly, very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended me in any way is complete nonsense.

“It’s quite absurd actually. Can we just focus on how brilliantly he’s doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming?” she added.

She ended the video when her doorbell rang and Katya said goodbye to her fans.

Fans, however, were still not convinced that the dance pair was only joking.

“You’re not explaining how it was a joke?” one fan questioned. “I think it’s exactly how it come across on camera. You didn’t want his hand there, so moved it? Not a big deal.”

Another fan added: “Not even funny to be honest in this day and age with everything that is going on so can’t see the funny side of this when people were genuinely concerned.”

This is why you should keep the bathroom light on when sleeping in a hotel

When traveling abroad and staying at a hotel, it is recommendable to have the bathroom lights on during the night.

Among the rest, the dim-lit space can help overcome anxiety at those people who don’t find it comfortable sleeping in unfamiliar surroundings.

Next, it will provide visibility during potential emergencies such as fires or intrusions, allowing you to quickly find exits without fumbling for your phone or a light switch.

Of course, when at a hotel or a motel, we tend to leave the luggage on the floor if our stay is short or if we are too tired to place or clothes and other belongings in the wardrobe. Having the bathroom light on can prevent us from tripping over the luggage in the dark.

What’s most, if there is an intruder around, the turned-on light will make them believe that the people inside the room are awake.

Well, sometimes, no matter if we like it or not, we are forced to have the bathroom light on, just like a Reddit user who shared a photo of his recent stay at a hotel. The bathroom door was a glass door and the light seemed to be too much for him.

As expected, the comments showed that different people have different preferences, and as some said they would love glass doors because they provide a lot of light during the night, others said this would be a nightmare for them.

“I spent the night in a similar one recently… the bathroom light was motion activated, so there was no way to avoid turning it on too,” someone commented. “As someone who can’t sleep without the bathroom light under the door off, this would be a nightmare to me,” another added.

Valerie Bertinelli candidly shares her experience of facing criticism over her appearance

Body-shaming is real and it affects the self-confidence of plenty of people who experience it. The truth is that the societies impose certain standards of what “beautiful” stands for and in the pursuit of achieving that looks, people lose themselves.

The moment we learn how to love ourselves with all our flaws is the moment we really start to live our lives to the fullest, and it turns out that actress Valerie Bertinelli has learned this truth and is now helping others embrace it.

In a video she recently posted, the Hot in Cleveland star could be heard giggling as a swishing noise echoed in the background.

“I’m giggling because I had a small, hidden bruise activated today,” the actress says. “My jeans are rubbing together, creating this particular sound, so you can probably hear them,” she added, trying to make a point.

She explained that it’s been long since she had last worn those jeans and the reason she stopped wearing them was a remark an ex of her made about the sound they made while walking, telling her that if she hand’t been lazy and worked out, the jeans wouldn’t create that noise.

Valerie then shared with her followers what she meant when she mentioned the “hidden bruise.”

“Hidden bruises are something that emotional, verbal, and mental abuse does to you that people can’t see,” she explained.

“The work I’m doing on healing is working, so it’s now making me laugh,” she continued. “I put these jeans in storage for good. After working to cure her concealed bruise, she can “wear them, hear that sound, and to me, that sound represents freedom.”

The actress added that she hesitated whether to post the video or not, believing her followers would tell her to “move on,” and “let it go,” but she figured out that speaking openly about being body-shamed was in fact a way of moving on.

The comments under the video were full of support and encouragement.

“Thank you for sharing the concept of hidden bruises,” one person wrote. “So proud of you! Many people find inspiration in you and your strength,” another added.

Meghan Markle is reportedly feeling ‘frustrated’ about a recent photo of Prince William

The ongoing feud between the royals doesn’t seem to be coming to an end any time soon.

While royal experts claim that Prince Harry is more than willing to bury the hatchets, it’s his wife, Meghan Markle, who appears to be holding onto past grievances.

Royal expert Tom Quinn commented on the situation, expressing his belief that Meghan isn’t pleased with her husband’s attempt to extend an olive branch to his family unless two conditions are fulfilled. According to Quinn, the former Suits star will only back down when “she feels that the Royal Family have been sufficiently nice to her, and grovelingly apologized for the past.”

“Harry would like a reconciliation, but supports his wife completely and until she feels that the Royal family have been sufficiently nice to her – and grovelingly apologized for the past – it’s not going to happen,” the royal expert said.

Meghan’s, as well as Harry’s, decision not to bring Archie and Lili to their father’s homeland unless the issue with the protection is resolved is yet another obstacle towards rebuilding the bridges that have already be burnt.

What made things even worse between Harry and the rest of the members of the Firm is his and Meghan’s trips to Nigeria and Colombia, which certainly resembled royal visits.

Now, it appears that Meghan is even further frustrated with a recent photo of Prince William with one of her and Harry’s good friends, football legend David Beckham.

When Meghan made her way into the royal family, the former Spice Girls singer, Victoria Beckham, was said to have given the Duchess all the access she needed to hairdressers and stylists in London. Meghan wasn’t happy that this information found its way into the press and believed it was Victoria herself who leaked it.

In an attempt stand up for his dear wife, Harry allegedly gave David Beckham a call, and David found it rather awkward.

“Harry was very polite, but obviously it was a pretty awkward exchange and David was mortified. Inexplicably, [Meghan] feared Victoria was behind it – I mean, the idea that Victoria Beckham would be personally ringing journalists to give them a scoop is ridiculous – and spoke to Harry about it,” a source told The Sun.

“Harry is very protective of Meghan, and decided to deal with the matter head-on, by directly contacting his good pal, David. He quickly put Harry right, and the two men agreed to move on – but it certainly made things awkward for a while.”

The Beckhams were invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding, but were excluded from the wedding dinner.

Harry and David, who have been good friends for quite some time, were to meet in Australia after Harry asked from the former Manchester United star to be an ambassador for the Invictus Games, but the meeting failed as Harry refused to see David in Sydney because he wanted to keep his friends at arm’s length while in Australia.

The real reason for this failed meeting, however, according to royal biographer Tom Bower was that “[Meghan] wanted no competition in the media from David. It seemed she was not prepared to tolerate anything flattering regarding the Beckhams and the Games to appear in the media.”

What affected the relationship between the Sussexes and the Beckhams even further was David’s respect and appreciation of the Royal Family that Harry dragged through the mud ever since Megxit.

“David had always been an ardent royalist who would stand up for the Queen’s Speech every Christmas, dressed in his Sunday best. Years later, he queued for 12 hours to view the Queen’s coffin when her body was lying in state,” royal expert Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail.

“So it is, perhaps, no surprise that the Sussexes’ attacks on the Royal Family failed to impress the Beckhams.”

The expert added: “Both David and Victoria put great importance on family and would never, ever turn on their relations the way that Harry and Meghan did,’ one of their associates tells me. The truth is that Victoria never really liked Meghan much. She was friendly and welcoming to her but is not bothered about staying in touch.”

A couple of days ago, David met with Prince William at RAF Northolt to celebrate London Air Ambulance’s Up Against Time campaign. Shortly before, Prince Harry attended the WellChild Awards in the UK.

The photo of the two was shared in the media, which allegedly frustrated Meghan, who used to be close friends with David and his wife.

“Yes, I do think that this is something that will annoy Meghan Markle,” royal expert Kinsey Schofield said, per the Mirror.

“After two weeks of bad press since Prince Harry’s been gone. I just think that she’s probably livid right now, based on the reaction that she’s getting from all of these stories. She’s had to deal with that while Prince Harry’s been out of town.”

The royal expert added: “That’s gotta be incredibly hard for her. And then to see this kind of victory moment from Prince William. A victory moment that she would tell you it should have been Harry’s moment after the WellChild awards, that would be upsetting to her.”

My wife told me our 3-year-old son had been buried – A day later, I discovered the horrifying truth

After five years together, Greg and Natalie, who had met and married young – too young, maybe, separated.

The love they once felt for one another faded away, and they both knew it would be for the best if they parted ways. Their separation wasn’t a dramatic one. There were no harsh words, no pricey and tiring custody battles, and no hard feelings, just a realization that they weren’t meant for forever.

By the time their divorce was finalized, Greg and Natalie already lived in different states.

However, they stayed in touch and kept things civil for the sake of their son Oliver, who was the center of their both worlds.

Oliver stayed with his mother, but every night, without exception, Natalie called Greg so that he could wish his son goodnight.

Greg only saw Oliver in person for the holidays, but speaking to him over the phone felt as though he was close to him and that sweet ritual became something Greg clung to as it made the separation feel just a little less painful.

The co-parenting things seemed to be working just great, until one evening when Greg received a call from his ex-wife that shattered his world.

As his phone rang and Greg saw Natalie’s name on the screen, he smiled because he was looking forward to those evening calls when he had a chance to chat with Oliver. But this time, it was different. The moment he picked up the phone, he heard Natalie crying and screaming. “Greg, our son is gone!” she yelled through sobs. “What do you mean gone? What happened?” Greg asked, shocked. “Oliver is dead!” Natalie kept repeating until she hung up the phone.

Greg stood at the corner of the room frozen. What he had just heard wasn’t something he could process. His son was dead. His Oliver, who meant the world to him, was no longer alive.

Gathering strength, he called Natalie and asked what happened one more time. But her answer was, “He’s been buried.”

Greg couldn’t understand why no one told him about the tragedy sooner. He wasn’t even given the chance to say one last goodbye and attend the funeral. How could his son simply be buried without anyone letting him know. Sobbing, Natalie said that everything happened too quickly and she couldn’t call him right away.

Somehow, this didn’t make sense.

Determined to get down to the truth, Greg packed a suitcase and bought a ticket to his old town. In the morning, he tried reaching Natalie again, but it was Mike, her new husband, who picked up the phone. His voice sounded strange. Greg knew there was more to the story than his ex wanted him to know.

“Greg, Oliver is alive,” Mike said.

“What? What are you talking about?” Greg whispered, unable to believe what he was hearing.

“Natalie made it all up,” Mike continued, explaining it looked like Natalie was suffering from a nervous breakdown after she convinced herself that Greg wanted to take Oliver from her for good.

Greg told Mike that there was no such a thing, and although Mike trusted Greg, Natalie couldn’t be easily convinced.

Desperate to see his son, Greg still took that trip. The following day, he found himself knocking on Natalie’s door. When she opened it, Greg yelled at her, “How could you do this to me?”

Natalie broke down in tears and started apologizing. It turned out that she was expecting a child and believed that once Greg found out about it, he would fight to take Oliver from her.

“You made me think my son was dead,” Greg said with furry in his voice. “Do you even understand what you’ve done to me?”

He assured Natalie he wasn’t there to take Oliver from her, but he was also not able to forgive her for the lie she came up with.

Greg suggested that the two attend counseling to uncover the reason and resolve the issue that led to such a cruel lie.

Mike was supportive all along, and Greg was glad that if someone stepped in as a father figure in his son’s life it would be someone like Mike, who didn’t hide the truth from him.

This experience and the thought of losing Oliver for good made Greg reconsider his choice of moving places away from his boy. So, once he returned home he started searching for jobs in the area where Oliver and Natalie lived, determined not to let the distance keep him and his son apart.

Mother told her daughter her father had passed away – Years later, the girl uncovered a devastating reality

Cassie’s life was a good one. Married to the love of her life and blessed with a beautiful son, she felt like she had the world in the palm of her hand.

The only thing that left a void in her heart was losing her dad when she was just fourteen. Every now and then, she thought of her dad and the beautiful moments she had shared with him.

Sadly, one day, her dad went to a business trip, like the ones he took often, and never returned. Cassie’s mom told her that she received a call from the emergency services that her husband lost his life, and that was the only explanation Cassie ever got. She wasn’t even able to see him for one last time as her mother told her it was always her father’s wish for his body to be cremated instead of buried.

Cassie didn’t want to make things harder for her mother, so she didn’t ask any questions. She agreed with her mom’s decision to spread his ashes at the beach during a memorable ceremony that honored his life.

Up until that moment, Cassie’s dad was her world and his absence was felt more than anything.

However, as time passed by, she learned to live with the pain that came with his sudden and untimely loss.

Cassie was there for her mother and the two continued with their life, always remembering how happy they were before the tragedy struck.

Years passed by and Cassie married and welcomed a son.

One day, she and her family decided to spend the weekend at a wooden cabin in the mountains. It was a refreshing break from city life and the hectic schedule so Cassie embraced the opportunity to spend a couple of days only with her husband and son. In the meantime, she asked from her mom to keep an eye on their dog whom they left back home, and her mom seemed more than happy to step in and help.

The weekend was a pleasurable experience. Feeling recharged, Cassie and her family returned back home, but the sight they encountered left them puzzled. The dog wasn’t there, and it looked like Cassie’s mom didn’t stay at their place at all. There on the table, Cassie noticed a note placed under the remote control that read, Watch this, Cassie. I’m sorry. — Mom.

The message scared her. What was that her mom had in store for her? Eager to learn what was going on, Cassie put the TV on and heard a familiar voice, one that she hadn’t heard in years. The man on that tape was visibly older than she remembered him, but it was clear he was her father.

After all those years, Cassie learned that her dad was alive. She was overwhelmed and experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as she struggled to keep tears from rolling down her face.

My dear Cassie, I’m still here, alive. I’m so sorry for the pain that you must have felt from my loss. But it was needed. I needed to be removed from your life because of the sordid truth of my past. Your mother knows everything, please ask her for the truth.

My health is on a steady decline, and I would love to see you and explain it all.

Love you, Dad.

Without telling her husband anything, Cassie grabbed her pursue and rushed to her mom’s place. When her mom opened the door, she said, “I bet you have a bunch of questions for me.” Cassie said she did have questions and demanded an explanation.

It was then that her mom finally revealed the truth about Cassie’s dad. It turned out that he led a double life and had another family in a different city. That was the reason for his “business trips” that lasted for days. When Cassie’s mom learned about it and confronted him, he told her he wanted to continue living with that other family, so they both agreed it would be for the best to tell Cassie he was dead.

He promised not to contact Cassie or her mother, but now that he was very ill and his health started deteriorating, he felt the urge to see Cassie.

After giving it a lot of thought, Cassie decided to pay her dad a visit. She spent some time with him, and saw him struggle with his illness. She even asked her husband to bring their son to her father to meet him. It was as though he never left, although Cassie had a hard time forgiving him for abandoning her.

After a couple of weeks, Cassie’s dad died. Her heart was broken again, but she was glad he contacted her.

Finally, after the dust settled, she wondered if she can find the strength to forgive her mother for lying to her all those years.

Quite often, the funniest memories come from the least expected situations and family interactions. In the following lighthearted story, a grandma and a grandpa visit their children and decide to spend the night at their son’s place, but an unexpected discovery in the medicine cabinet leads to a hilarious twist no one saw coming.

After they decided to stay at their son’s place for the night, Grandpa noticed a bottle of V pills in the medicine cabinet and asked his son if he could use one.

“I don’t think you should take one, Dad. They’re really strong and expensive,” the son replied.

“How much?” asked Grandpa. “Ten dollars a pill,” replied the son. “I don’t mind,” said Grandpa. “I’d still like to try one, and before we leave in the morning, I’ll put the money under the pillow.”

Avery Koonce: The tragic story behind her illness and passing

The life of Avery Koonce, a 19-year-old standout athlete and a U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) cadet, was cut short due to untreated bacteria in her lungs.

The lifeless body of Koonce was found inside her dorm and despite the efforts of the paramedics to revive her, there was nothing they could do, Air Force officials reported. She was discovered by fellow cadets, who called the emergency services.

Prior to graduating from Thrall ISD, Koonce was awarded the Congressional Nomination for the academy by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Waco, on March 27. She was an outstanding student who competed in cross country, powerlifting and track and field. Koonce was also a distinguished cheerleader.

Following her tragic passing, it was determined by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office that Koonce died of complications from pneumonia.

As per the coroner’s report obtained by People, the 19-year-old had anaerobic bacteria called Paeniclostridium sordellii, which is relatively rare but can be fatal. This bacteria caused sepsis and complicated an underlying, acute viral lower respiratory tract infection. As per reports, Koonce had been suffering from bad cough the days prior to her passing but she was probably unaware of the severity of her illness and failed to seek medical attention.

According to the coroner’s office, the bacteria that claimed the life of the Air Force Academy freshman “can cause serious disease or death in various clinical settings including airway infection.”

“In essence, she died of untreated pneumonia,” forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden told IBT.

Koonce’s parents and family have been deeply affected by her tragic and untimely passing. “Our daughter, Cadet Avery Koonce, was an incredibly bright light in this broken world,” they said in a statement released through the Academy. “Our lives will forever be diminished because of her absence.”

On September 12, members of Koonce’s community held a memorial service at Tiger Stadium in Thrall in her honor. The service was attended by over 100 people who came to pay their tributes to the aspiring young woman who was taken too soon.

Lt. Gen. Tony Bauernfeind, USAFA Superintendent highlighted Koonce’s profound impact on her squadron, track team, and class, despite her brief time at the academy, saying, “We lost an incredible teammate.”

We are deeply saddened by the loss of such a young life. May she rest in peace.

Prince Louis and his siblings are ‘likely asking questions’ about Prince Harry

The relationship between Prince Harry and the rest of the royals remains a rocky one.

It all started when he and Meghan Markle made the decision to leave Britain behind and settle in California. This decision, however, didn’t only trigger a change in the number of working royals, but it also affected Harry’s relationship with his niece and nephews.

When Prince George was born, Harry felt like the happiest uncle on Earth. In his all-tell memoir Spare, he wrote that he looked forward to spending quality time with his nephew, but that wasn’t what happened. According to him, he wasn’t incited over at his brother’s place as often as he wished to, but believed William and Kate were busy building their own family so he didn’t overstep with William and Kate.

Despite this, Harry was able to create and nurture a strong bond with George, and later with Charlotte.

However, when he stepped down from his royal duties and moved to the States, the youngest of his brother’s children, Louis, was still a toddler, so Harry didn’t have much time to connect to him. What’s most, he’s only seen Louis a handful of times since he left his homeland.

When the little Prince was christened, Harry went to great lengths to gift him a very special present that represented a continuation of a sweet tradition his late mother Diana started when Harry himself was a child. He bought Louis the first edition of Winnie-the-Pooh, hoping to build a library of first editions for Louis and his siblings.

“One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother. She loved all the old classics, and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte, and George to enjoy as they get older,” a close source told the Daily Record.

Harry bought the original edition of A. A. Milne’s book for around £8,000 ($10,000).

“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie-The-Pooh would be more suitable for a first tome. Robinson Crusoe was William’s favorite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne,” the source continued.

This was a meaningful gift, and Harry truly looked forward to building a connection with his brother’s children, who he now no longer sees.

In his book, Harry spoke of Charlotte and Louis, fearing that they could end up being “spares” just like him.

“Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare,” Harry said.

“And that hurts, that worries me.”

Harry continued: “I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy, I was summoned to provide backup, distraction, diversion and, if necessary, a spare part. Kidney, perhaps. Blood transfusion. Speck of bone marrow. This was all made explicitly clear to me from the start of life’s journey and regularly reinforced thereafter.”

The Duke was later criticized about speaking of his brother’s children, with royal expert Ingrid Seward saying he should” lay off Prince William’s children.”

However, it seems that William and Kate are indeed worried that Harry’s words may come true so they do the best of their abilities to make Charlotte and Louis feel as special as their oldest sibling, George.

Speaking to the Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond said she believes William and Kate would encourage both Charlotte and Louis to pursue careers outside the royal fold if they want to.

“And from there they will want him to find a life that is meaningful to him as well as appropriate for the son of a future King. They will try to ensure that he feels he is living a life of value, irrespective of his place in the line of succession and that will probably involve service of some kind as they have emphasized from the start that they want their children to understand that having empathy with others is not only a kindness, but is rewarding as well,” Bond stated.

Being their uncle, George, Charlotte, and Louis probably wonder why Harry is no longer present in their lives. Whether they know the reason why he no longer lives in Britain is unknown.

Royal commentator Lydia Alty believes the three royal children are ‘likely asking questions’ about Harry and what really happened when he left.

“Prince Harry used to be close to his brother, Prince William. He was also very close to Prince William’s wife, the Princess of Wales and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis,” she said.

“Harry was even close to his father, despite reports and claims from him that he wasn’t. Now that the royals have all split up and, as far as we know, not talking, this will have affected George, Charlotte and Louis.”

Lydia Alty concluded: “His nephews and niece will probably be wondering why they haven’t seen their uncle and cousins.”

We hope the royals would be able to rebuilt the bridges they have burnt over the last couple of years.

Prince William was ‘not pleased’ with this particular detail at his wedding to Kate Middleton

The Prince and Princess of Wales rank among the most renowned couples globally. They have been together for many years and have three beautiful children together.

William and Kate first met when they both attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. At first, they were just friends and shared a flat together with other people and it all started from there.

Speaking of the time they first laid eyes on each other, Kate once shared, “I actually went bright red when I met you and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting you.

“William wasn’t there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn’t there from Fresher’s Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other.”

According to the documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married which aired in April 2021, the two were just good friends at the beginning but one night changed it all. During a student fashion show, Kate wore a sheer dress that wooed the Prince, and the rest is history.

“A switch had been flicked, he suddenly saw her in a different light, and I really believe that was the turning point in their relationship,” Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent, Katie Nicholl, said in the documentary.

A reported by The Telegraph, Prince William said: “We were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on. We just spent more time with each other and had a good giggle, and realized we shared the same interests.”

Their love was deep and they got the entire attention from the media. Kate even made a public appearance with the Royals and attended the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy, in which William attended, along with her family.

And as everyone believed a royal marriage was just around the corner, the two split in 2007.

Recalling the time of their break up, both Kate and William claimed it was actually good for them because they got to “find themselves.” Kate even said that “you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger,” as per The Telegraph.

The two got back together in 2008 and William proposed to Kate in 2010 during a trip to Kenya with his late mother’s engagement ring.

Their wedding resembled a fairytale, but allegedly, there were some things regarding their special day that bothered William.

While the future Duchess wore a stunning Alexander McQueen wedding gown, William’s outfit was announced before the wedding by the Palace.

“Prince William has chosen to wear the uniform of Colonel of the Irish Guards on his Wedding Day. Prince William, who is commissioned in all three Armed Services, and who has served actively with the Army (The Household Cavalry Regiment) and with the Royal Air Force (Search and Rescue Force), chose to wear the uniform of his senior honorary appointment in the Army.”

“Prince William will wear an Irish Guards Mounted Officer’s uniform in Guard of Honour Order with a Forage Cap. The Prince will wear a gold and crimson sash, and gold sword slings, both of which are worn in the presence of a Member of the Royal Family. The Prince will not wear a sword. The Prince will wear the Garter Sash with the Wings of the Royal Air Force, the Garter Star, and the Golden Jubilee Medal.”

The statement continued, “The tunic, in Guards’ Red, features the Irish Guards’ distinctive arrangement of buttons in groups of four. The buttons feature the Harp of Ireland surmounted by the Crown Imperial. The arrangement of buttons on the uniform denotes the Irish Guards’ position in the Order of Battle as the Fourth Regiment of Foot Guards.”

“The Insignia of the Irish Guards on the Forage Cap is the eight-pointed Star of the Most Illustrious Order of St. Patrick and features the Regiment’s motto ‘Quis Separabit?’ (‘Who shall separate us?’).”

William wore his uniform with pride, but according to reports, he had something else in mind, but his wish wasn’t granted by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Royal expert Roya Nikkhah claimed in the BBC documentary Royal Wedding: A Day to Remember that the young Prince to wear his Household Cavalry military uniform instead.

“The military is everything to William and to Harry. The Queen said, ‘No, you’re wearing your Irish Guards. You are the new Colonel of the Irish Guards.’ That’s the one thing he didn’t get his way on, and he deferred to Granny,” Nikkhah said.

This was confirmed by Harry in his all-tell memoir Spare in which he wrote, “He’d asked Granny if he could wear his Household Cavalry kit and she’d turned him down. As the Heir, he must wear the Number One Ceremonial, she decreed.”

“Willy was glum at having so little say in what he wore to get married, at having his autonomy taken from him on such an occasion. He’d told me several times that he felt frustrated,” Harry wrote.

“I assured him that he looked bloody smart in the Harp of Ireland, with the Crown Imperial and the forage cap with the regimental motto: ‘Quis Separabit? Who shall separate us?’ It didn’t seem to make an impression.”

Reportedly, when speaking about the choice of outfit for his wedding, William told journalist Robert Hardman, “You just do as you’re told!”

This “issue” wasn’t the only one that bothered William.

He also showed his concerns regarding the guest list, which included many celebrities, royalty, and friends from his and Kate’s university days. However, most of the people on that list were unknown to William.

“When the guest list was drawn up [William] was very bemused and had a conversation with the Queen to say ‘I don’t know any of these people’. He wasn’t very happy about it. The Queen just said to him, rip that list up and start where you want to start from and invite who you want – and that’s what they did,” Nikkhah revealed.

The guests had a wonderful time at the wedding. One of them, the landlord from The Old Boot Inn, the Middleton family’s local pub in their hometown, said, “It was great that Kate and William were allowed to invite all their own friends. Friends from the village, from uni, friends that she grew up with. She invited me, I’ve known her 15 years or so. It was fabulous.”

In his book, Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, Robert Jobson wrote that the wedding truly was one to remember, especially when You’re the One That I Want from the musical Grease started playing and the newlyweds took the dance floor and danced their hearts out.

The wedding of William and Kate is still remembered as one of the most extravagant ones.

Why the 1975 Academy Awards continue to stir debate and emotions

The Academy Awards, or the Oscars, remain the highest honor in filmmaking due to their historic significance, global recognition, and cultural impact.

The ceremony was first held in 1929, becoming synonymous with excellence in cinema, recognizing achievements in acting, directing, writing, and technical crafts. Over the years, it witnessed the greatest of all in the industry taking the stage, either as nominees, winners, or presenters.

At the same time, the Oscars have been all about prestige, glamour, and luxury.

One year in particular, 1975, is a representation of Hollywood’s creative reawakening. Many of the films that stood out that year pushed boundaries and represented the American culture from a rather different perspective, with directors such as Francis Ford Coppola and his masterpiece The Godfather Part II and Roman Polanski with the everlasting Chinatown promoting darker, more intense style.

All in all, this year’s Oscars was “back when actors and actresses had class and no political agenda,” but that wasn’t entirely true.

Nominated for the role of Lenny in a biographical film about comedian Lenny Bruce, actor Dustin Hoffman compared the Oscars to a beauty pageant, dubbing the ceremony ”ugly” and ”grotesque.” This led host Bob Hope to make a joke at Hoffman’s expense, saying, “If Dustin Hoffman wins tonight, he’s going to have a friend pick it up for him — George C. Scott,” referring to Scott’s refusal to receive his award four years prior. Hoffman, however, didn’t win.

One particular scene that is still remembered by many is the acceptance speech by documentary filmmaker Bert Schneider, whose winning documentary Hearts & Minds centered around the Vietnam War which was about to end in April of that year. Schneider couldn’t help but bring up the debate about the war, saying, “It’s ironic that we’re here at a time just before Vietnam is about to be liberated.”

He then read a telegram from Viet Cong Ambassador Dinh Ba Thi that said, “Greetings of Friendship to All American People” and thanked the anti-war movement.

This didn’t sit well with host Bob Hope who later handed a telegram to Frank Sinatra to read.

“The academy is saying, ‘We are not responsible for any political references made on the program, and we are sorry they had to take place this evening.’”

Shirley MacLaine, one of the co-hosts, and actor Warren Beatty fired back. “Thank you, Frank, you old Republican,” Beatty reacted, while MacLaine added: “You said you were speaking for the Academy. Well, I’m a member of the Academy and you didn’t ask me!”

What raised eyebrows that year was Art Carney winning an award for his portrayal of Harry and Tonto, as some believed this robbed Al Pacino of an Oscar for his iconic role as Michael Corleone in The Godfather.

A photo from that spectacular night that is still talked about today nearly fifty years later is that of Jon Voight and Raquel Welch, who were considered one of the most renowned actors in the world of film at the time, and even today.

What made this photo controversial isn’t the actors’ choice of outfit, which is relatively typical for that period, but the way Voight holds his fellow colleague.

While this image is considered iconic, it resurfaced recently and people couldn’t help but comment that Voight’s hold on stunning Welch is rather inappropriate. “Jon’s looking like a creep. Raquel doesn’t look comfortable. Unless they were a couple—that’s well creepy,” one woman commented. Another added: “She looks like he is touching her without her consent 🥺.”

As expected, there have been those who wrote that people are execrating as this was a normal pose back in the day.

The 1975 Oscars bring nostalgia for everything they represented.

Tomm Tennent: The unique baby born with enough skin to cover the body of a five-year-old child

Back in 1993, the birth of a baby boy named Tomm Tennent from South East Australia stunned not only his parents and doctors, but pretty much the entire world. The story of his mysterious condition which left him with enough skin to cover the body of a 5-year-old made everyone wonder what life would bring for this boy.

Tomm’s parents were aware their bundle of joy would be different, but no ultrasound could prepare them for the severity of the condition. When they were told something was wrong with their baby, they even considered terminating the pregnancy, but luckily, that didn’t happen.

Speaking to 60 Minutes Australia, Tomm’s dad, Geoff Tennent, said back in 2003, “When he came out I was quite shocked (…) I didn’t think a human, or a little baby, could ever look like that.”

His mom also spoke of the moment she first saw her baby boy. “My heart came up to my throat, but at the same time it was lovely to pick him up and cuddle him,” she said.

Over the years, Tomm spent a lot of time at hospital, not because he was sick, but because doctors wanted to examine his condition and learn how to help him. Since the literature never documented a case like his before, they had a hard time learning what caused him to have so much excess skin.

Upon further research, they were finally able to give Tomm and his parents some answers.

Namely, experts saw similarities between the way Tomm looked and the Chinese dog breed Shar Pei. They discovered that Tomm’s level of Hyaluronic acid, found in skin, was 100 times higher than normal, which is the case with Shar Pei puppies.

Knowing that those levels drop as puppies grow older, doctors hoped the same would eventually happen to Tomm. And they were right.

However, until reaching that point in life, Tomm experienced certain difficulties. Besides that, he has always been a lovable boy who loved the way he looked.

When asked if he had any concerns about how his friends saw him, Tomm told 60 Minutes, “Not really (…) because they are my friends and they don’t really care how I look like. Sometimes they (people) say I look cool, sometimes they say I look really cool, and sometimes they don’t say anything.”

Since 2003, when Tomm and his parents gave the interview to 60 Minutes, 21 have passed. Today, Tomm looks completely normal, no excess skin at all.

Although his story didn’t receive much media attention while he was growing up, except for, of course, when he was born, many people wondered how Tomm looks like nowadays.

Well, according to his Facebook, he’s happily married to wife Hannah.

Meet Tomm today.

“Life’s simple. You make choices, and you don’t look back,” Tomm posted on his Facebook profile, and we assume this quote sums up his mindset and his whole life.

Mom, her fiancé, and two young sons lose their lives to Hurricane Helene

An idyllic family who had built their peace of heaven near the river in the North Carolina mountains have been swept by a huge wave during Hurricane Helene.

The family of four, Alison Wisely, her fiancé Knox Petrucci, and her two children, Felix, 9, and Lucas, 7, tried to leave their home as the hurricane approached, but their vehicle began to float as they tried to navigate the floodwaters. As driving the car was hard, they abandoned their efforts to evacuate and decided to return to their home, but on their way home, a wave swept them all into the Toe River.

Since the tragedy struck, their bodies were all recovered.

As per close family members, Alison and Knox made preparations when warnings of Hurricane Helene had been announced. They purchased pallets and sandbags and anticipated minor flooding of their home’s basement, believing the mountains would serve as a protection, mainly because the area has never experienced extreme weather events.

Sadly, they were wrong as the Toe River surged by 22 feet, with water levels coming within inches of reaching the ceiling of Alison and Knox’s one-story house.

She wrote about how precious the family was and how idyllic the life they created had been.

Knox was a beekeeper, musician, songwriter, artist, and an aspiring blacksmith. “Along with being an advocate for the Earth and bees, Knox was always there for friends who were like family and inspired others in the way he moved through life with authenticity and boundless love and acceptance,” the Briana wrote of her brother.

“Brilliant and wise Alison, was a most loving mother to the boys she shared and co-parented with Lance Wisely, their devoted dad,” she continued.

Felix and Lucas were adorable young boys who loved playing Minecraft and enjoyed drawing and painting.

The boys’ dad, Lance Wisely, took to Facebook to share the devastating news of his children’s, Alison’s and Knox’s tragic deaths.

“The boys were loved fiercely and generously by all of their grown ups, and by you, even many of you who never met them have watched them grow up and shared in our joys as a family. Their lives were dense with adventure, art, silliness, and snuggles. It has been my great honor and pleasure and exhausting privilege to be their father for their time in this world with us,” he wrote.

He praised Alison for being a great mother, and added that Knox had always impressed him for loving the boys as though they were his own.

Recent reports indicate that over 230 people have been discovered dead following Hurricane Helene, as authorities in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee continue recovering bodies nearly two weeks after the storm struck. The death toll of Hurricane Milton, which struck Florida on October 9, has been reported to be at least 16.

We are deeply sorry for the tragic loss experienced by everyone affected by the devastating hurricanes.

Anderson Cooper struck by debris while reporting on Hurricane Milton

During a live broadcast covering Hurricane Milton, CNN’s Anderson Cooper was struck by debris on the face, leaving his fans concerned.

Hurricane Milton, measuring as a category three storm, the second of its kind that hit Florida in a matter of weeks, made landfall on October 9, spawning dozens of tornadoes and 28ft waves, along with extremely strong winds.

Millions of homes and businesses have been left without electricity and the death toll has been reported to be at least sixteen.

Before the hurricane struck, officials urged the citizens to seek evacuation, which many did. Yet, there were those who opted to stay in their homes, expecting the worse, but praying for the best.

Live from Bradenton, Florida, a few miles away from Siesta Key, Anderson Cooper reported on the hurricane while battling wind speeds of more than 150mph when a piece of debris hit him in the face. “Woah! That wasn’t good. We’ll probably go inside shortly,” he said before he continued with the live broadcast.

Fans and viewers were quick to comment on the incident, hoping Cooper wasn’t seriously injured.

Many wondered why he was even reporting from outside given the weather conditions and the expected severity of Hurricane Milton.

“What does putting Anderson Cooper on a pier in the middle of the ocean at the height of a hurricane in its center achieve in informing viewers. It’s like 120mph winds. Get my sweet porcelain glass anchor inside,” one X user wrote.

How can possible abdication of King Charles save the monarchy?

Charles waited long to become a king, and his son William would ascend the throne in case of Charles’ passing or in case he abdicates, which is very unlikely.

King Charles holds the record of longest-serving monarch-in-waiting in British history, surpassing Edward VII’s record of 59 years. At the same time, he’s the eldest person to be crowned king in Britain.

When he witnessed his mother becoming the head of the monarchy, King Charles was a three-year-old boy. Back then, he was totally unaware that one day he would be the one overtaking the monarchy.

That day arrived with the passing of his mother, late Queen Elizabeth, who ruled the country over 70 years. Her reign spanned 14 US presidencies, from Truman to Joe Biden, and met all but one.

However, during Charles’ reign, the monarchy has faced plenty of issues, including the feud between Harry and Meghan and the rest of the family, him being diagnosed with cancer, and Kate Middleton undergoing a planned abdominal surgery and being diagnosed with cancer herself.

Despite his health struggles, Charles is doing his best to fulfill royal engagements and rule the country, so possible abdication isn’t imminent.

Over the last few decades, several European countries have seen their monarchs abdicate in favor of the younger generation of royals, most recently Denmark, when Queen Margrethe II of Denmark became the first Danish monarch to abdicate in more than 900 years. The country celebrated their new head of the monarchy, King Frederik X, in the capital of Copenhagen on Sunday and the Prince and Princess of Wales have closely followed the events unfolding.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark announced her abdication on TV during her yearly speech on New Year’s Eve. The nation was shocked because no one expected it. She explained that she believed it was time for her son to take her place. Queen Margrethe II, 83, took the throne after her father, King Frederik IX, died in 1972.

“I will leave the throne to my son Crown Prince Frederik,” she said in the televised New Year’s address.

Another reason for this decision was the Queen’s ailing health and her advanced age. In 2023, she had undergone a back surgery and needed time to rest and rehabilitate.

According to royal author Phil Dampier, Charles’ abdication may become a reality in a couple of years, as per the Daily Mail.

“It must make you wonder if in five or ten years’ time, King Charles might think about doing the same if his health suffers or he just thinks it is a good time to pass on to William and Kate while they are still young. Our late Queen would never abdicate because of what happened in 1936 when her uncle abdicated and her father came to the throne. But times change,” he said.

“William and Kate get on very well with Frederik and Mary and will be among the first to congratulate them. They will be fascinated to see how they get on as King and Queen and it will make them think about their future as well.”

The Guardian columnist Simon Jenkins believes King Charles should follow Queen Margrethe steps and do the same.

“Growing old should never be a bar to work, but age does not negotiate. Britain’s King Charles, after a long apprenticeship, has proved an active and popular figure in his term of office. He has shown no sign of ageing, other than perhaps his limp Christmas message. He is certainly entitled to a substantial reign after waiting so long,” Jenkins wrote.

“But not to death. Charles has a successor, William, well-trained and evidently suited for the job. The abdication of Beatrix of the Netherlands to Willem-Alexander in 2013 was an ideal precedent. It prompted an outpouring of gratitude for her reign, a welcome for her son, and a stronger monarchy as a result. The flamboyant conductor André Rieu had the Dutch joyously dancing in the streets in their thousands. There was none of the lugubriousness inevitably attached to Britain’s succession through death.”

Jenkins continued, “Abdication also indicates a nation able to keep its institutions fit for purpose. In slimming down the royal family, Charles has wisely indicated a desire to end such damaging princely sagas as those of Andrew and Harry. But he must surely go further in updating the office he should one day hand over to his son.”

So far, King Charles has tried to both slim down and modernize the monarchy, but in recent years, the public accused the monarchy of being out of touch with current social issues.

Even before he took the new role, Charles announced he would be making changes within the Royal Family. In the past, sources claimed that then Prince Charles spoke of slimming down the monarchy.

“Charles has never made any secret of the fact that he wants a slimmed-down Monarchy when he becomes King. He realizes that the public don’t want to pay for a huge Monarchy and, as he said, the balcony at Buckingham Palace would probably collapse,” he was reported to have said.

Also, Charles has already taken a step towards transforming the royals into a more modern institution by opening up Balmoral to the public.

Still, being at the age he’s in, King Charles is not in touch with the younger generation like William and Kate are.

Even now, Prince William is heavily involved in issues such as global warming.

While King Charles continues to be fully committed to his role of the head of the monarchy, there could be growing speculations in the future about whether or not he should step down and leave the throne to William.

Prince William was ‘concerned’ over Meghan Markle’s wedding outfit

The wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was quite a spectacle. Millions of people got to witness the young Prince tying the knot to the woman he described as the love of his life.

From this extravagant ceremony watched by 29.19 million viewers, to the birth of their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in 2019, the stepping down from their royal duties, the Sussex Royals’ every move has been closely followed by the media. That same media that “forced” them to leave the U.K. and move to the States.

According to the Duchess, before the split with the Firm, she and Harry allegedly asked for a permission to move to another country in the Commonwealth, perhaps South Africa or Canada. However, the answer was a resounding “no.”

“Anything to just … because just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy. So we go, ‘Okay, fine, let’s get out of here. Happy to,’” Meghan recalled during a recent interview with The Cut.

Saying that other Royal Family members had gotten the green light for the same arrangement, she added, “That, for whatever reason, is not something that we were allowed to do, even though several other members of the family do that exact thing.”

When Meghan first met William, he was very fond of her, although she believed at the time that the relationship between the two would be “trying” from the off, according to Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, authors of the Pro-Sussex biography Finding Freedom.

“She was self-aware enough to understand that the brothers were wary of women who were more interested in their titles than their wellbeing,” Scobie and Durand wrote in the book. “And she couldn’t have come from a more different world than that of William, his wife, and most of their friends.”

However, the first-ever encounter between William and Meghan was quite pleasant for both of them.

William was reported to have said to his brother’s girlfriend: “I was looking forward to meeting the girl who has put that silly grin on my brother’s face.”

At the same time, William was concerned that the things between Harry and Meghan were moving too fast. “William soon began to wonder about some of Meghan’s traits and motivations,” a source told the Daily Mail, as revealed by the Express.

“He was worried that at times she seemed to be more concerned about her personal progression or profile over the wider goals and aims of the Royal Family.

“Eventually, he decided to keep those feeling for himself because all he ever wanted was for “[Meghan] to be happy and appreciated the huge adjustment of entering the Royal Family.”

Fast forward to Meghan becoming part of the family officially, she found it hard to get used to that new life and Harry didn’t believe his brother and sister-in-law helped Meghan settle in.

Speaking to Fox in 2022, royal expert and author Katie Nicholl, who had just released The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, said, “It was certainly Harry’s feeling that William and Kate hadn’t rolled out the red carpet as much as they might have done.

“You know, there wasn’t this sort of instant welcoming of Meghan into the royal fold,” she added.

“I say in the book that William was the first to meet Meghan. And actually, he was really thrilled that Harry had met someone who he’d really fallen for. He was overjoyed when Meghan came into his life, and he fell in love with this woman,” she added.

Harry proposed to Meghan with a custom three-stone ring that featured diamonds from his late mother’s jewelry collection, but the following year, when their wedding was to take place, William was allegedly concerned that Meghan would wear a piece of jewelry that belonged to Princess Diana.

“I have been told that, still concerned about the match, he’d sought assurances from the Queen that Harry’s bride would not be wearing any of Princess Diana’s jewellery, even though his own wife was allowed to wear it,” author Robert Jobson wrote in Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography, per the Mirror.

“Despite sharp digs and thin skins on both sides, the wedding at Windsor in May 2018 was a spectacular success,” Jobson continued. “In public, the Royal Family were all smiles, though privately they were at daggers drawn.”

The relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the royals remains rocky.

When you fall in love with someone, you usually believe it’s forever. The reality is that things don’t always turn out as expected and people get separated all the time.

When one husband decided to untie the knot with his wife, he though it would be less painful if he just writes her a letter, explaining why he wanted to leave her. Jimmy Carter at ‘very end’ of his ‘journey’ as he becomes a centenarian

Former president Jimmy Carter has been into hospice for some time now, but he still gathered the strength to attend the funeral and the memorial service of his loving wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter, who passed away at the age of 96 on November 19, 2023.

During the final hours of her rich life, Jimmy was by his wife’s side. His son said that he asked to spend some time alone with her so that the two could talk to one another with their beds placed one next to another.

The funeral service was held at Maranatha Baptist Church, where Jimmy Carter and the former first lady worshipped. Earlier tributes were held in nearby Americus and in Atlanta.

Jimmy arrived in a wheelchair, wearing a black suit and a blanket bearing his and Rosalynn’s faces in her honor.

Unfortunately, Jimmy’s health is deteriorating as well. His grandson, Jason Carter, offered an update on his grandfather’s condition and said that the 39th President of the United States might not have too long left.

Rosalynn Carter was the driving force behind her husband of over seven decades.

They were by each other’s side through thick and thin.

“Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished,” Jimmy Carter said in the statement following Rosalynn’s passing. “She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”

Sadly, with Rosalynn now gone, the main consensus is that Jimmy’s condition could take a steep turn for the worse.

“He’s coming to the end, and he’s very, very physically diminished,” Jimmy’s grandson told the New York Post prior to Rosalynn’s memorial service..

“He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”

During the memorial service for Rosalynn, Amy Carter, the couple’s daughter, read a letter that Jimmy sent to his wife while he was away serving in the Navy.

“My darling, every time I’ve ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are,” he wrote. “When I see you, I fall in love all over again.”

The love story of Jimmy and Rosalynn resembled a fairy tale.

During his presidency from 1977 to 1981, Jimmy Carter told aides, “Rosalynn is my best friend… the perfect extension of me, probably the most influential person in my life.”

Roselynn wasn’t just a First Lady, but she was her husband’s closest advisor who stood by his side supporting every decision he made as a head of the country.

After leaving the White House, the Carters returned to live in their family house in Plains, Georgia. The house, which according to Zillow is valued at $209,996, was built in 1961, when the Carters welcomed their fourth child in their lives and needed a bigger place. The couple always led a quite and a very simple life.

Earlier this year, the Carter family revealed that Rosalynn was diagnosed with dementia. Shortly after, she entered hospice and spent the last days of her life surrounded by family and her loving husband. She barely walked, with a help of a walker, and her health declined significantly.

Jimmy’s grandson, Jason, delivered an update on his grandfather while speaking at the 28th Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health Forum on Tuesday. “(My grandfather) is doing OK. He has been in hospice, as you know, for almost a year and a half now, and he really is, I think, coming to the end that, that — as I’ve said before, there’s a part of this faith journey that is so important to him. And there’s a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end, and I think he has been there in that space.”

“My grandmother’s passing was a difficult moment for all of us, including my grandfather,” Jason told the audience at the forum.

“The outpouring of love and support that we as a family received from the people in this room and from the rest of the world was so remarkable and meaningful for us and really turned this process into a celebration.”

At the mental health forum, Jason reminisced about a conversation he had shared with his grandfather a few weeks prior, as they sat together watching an Atlanta Braves game.

“‘People ask me how you’re doing and I say, I don’t know’ and he said, ‘Well, I don’t know myself,’” Jason remembered.

October 1 marked President Carter’s 100th birthday. Ahead of that special milestone, his grandson again spoke of his grandfather’s health condition noting he is physically diminished but still mentally and emotionally present.

“He’s doing okay,” Jason said of the former president, as per People, at “Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song,” sponsored by Delta Air Lines, an event that took place on Sept. 17 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta two weeks before Carter’s actual birthday.

“I mean he’s been in hospice for over 19 months now and he has really physically diminished and can’t do much on his own, but he is emotionally engaged and still having experiences and laughing, loving,” he added.

The former president’s birthday celebration included performances and celebrity guest appearances from Renée Zellweger, Dale Murphy, Killer Mike, and many more.

The family initially believed that Jimmy’s passing was imminent, but he has since defied the odds. “God had other plans,” Jason shared, emphasizing that they cannot predict his condition from day to day.

“He’s plugged in,” Chip, the 74-year-old son of the former president shared with Associated Press, explaining his father intends to live long enough to cast his vote on Election Day. “I asked him two months ago if he was trying to live to be 100, and he said, No, I’m trying to live to vote for Kamala Harris.”

Jason added: “Not everybody gets 100 years on this earth, and when somebody does, and when they use that time to do so much good for so many people, it’s worth celebrating.”

He continued, “These last few months, 19 months, now that he’s been in hospice, it’s been a chance for our family to reflect…and then for the rest of the country and the world to really reflect on him. That’s been a really gratifying time.”

Barack and Michelle Obama’s daughter’s childhood health scare that shook the family

Michelle and Barack Obama, who served as the 44th US president from 2009 to 2017 are still active in the political arena. That said, they remain under the limelight and the public is very interested in both their private and professional lives, including the lives of their two daughters, Malia and Sasha.

The sisters have been residing in Los Angeles and are seen hanging out together.

They both have careers on their own.

In the past, during the 2012 presidential campaign to be exact, Former President Barack Obama opened up about an unpleasant experience the family went through when Sasha was just three months old.

“People ask me what was the hardest time in my life — they ask, well what about during the debt ceiling debate and this and that and the other thing,” he started his speech, and added that one of the hardest times in his life was when Sasha was diagnosed with meningitis when she was just a baby.

Later on, Michelle brought up the topic with Rev. Al Sharpton, saying that the experience still lives in her memory.

“I will never forget. It was a day when, you know, one hour she was fine, she was normal, she was happy, doing everything I was used to her doing and the next hour she was crying inconsolably, and that just wasn’t like her. And I did everything.”

She then added, “I tried to do – tried to feed her, tried to rock her, tried to burp her. Finally, I just thought, I need to call my pediatrician.”

Once at the emergency department, doctors ran tests and performed a spinal tap.

Luckily, things turned out for the best for Sasha thanks to her parents’ quick reaction and the access to medical treatment. Had they not had access to pediatrician, health insurance, and hospital care without worrying for the cost of the treatment, things could have taken the wrong turn, Michelle explained.

“If we had waited overnight, if we had postponed acting, there’s no telling what the outcome would’ve been,” she added.

The family still thanks God for the outcome.
