The trend of schools announcing the snow day to their students is all over the Internet, but the video of Swartz Creek Community Schools, a school district in Michigan, definitely stands out.
It features Superintendent Ben Mainka and Principal Jim Kitchen, wearing their school team gear.
“I’d like to take a moment to share a brief video announcement,” Mainka said at the beginning. “I know that one of the things that’s been happening — which is an epidemic across our country — is that superintendents and other administrators are coming up with ridiculous songs.
“And they’re playing music and putting on sunglasses on and making absolute fools of themselves trying to cancel school for a snow day,” he added, looking all serious.
At that moment, music starts and Mainka starts singing, but he’s then interrupted by Kitchen.
“Let me reiterate we are not going to humiliate ourselves by singing a snow day song,” Kitchen said.
But then the music starts again and it seems like Mainka and Kitchen can’t help themselves but put their glasses on and start their fun performance of Hallelujah, adding silly lyrics and some amusing antics.
Once the song ends, Mainka says, “I honestly don’t know what happened. I can’t stand it when people sing about snow days!”
The pair ended the announcement by emphasizing that school would be off.
“For the safety of our students and staff, we are going to be canceling school tomorrow,” Mainka said at the end of video. “Please be safe and stay warm.”
Not only they brought laughter at those who witnessed their performance, but both Mainka and Kitchen showed their vocal abilities.

The tipping practice in the United States is quite different compared to other countries, and now a server’s video about leaving a tip caused a stir on the social media.
Taking to TikTok, user @mylasoasis_ spoke of the tipping practice and suggested that if you don’t leave a tip of 20% of the bill, you don’t deserve to dine at a restaurant.
In recent years, the topic of tipping has been all over the internet, with many sharing their frustration over the fact that leaving less than 15-20% is considered rude and inadequate.
“Eating out is a privilege, not a right. If you cannot afford to tip 20%, you can’t afford to eat out,” Lillie says in her video.
She then touched the topic of the servers’ wages in the States, saying that no matter how much people argue that owners should give the servers higher salaries, it isn’t the case in America so they are forced to rely on tips.
“You can complain and insist that my employer should pay me a higher wage all you want, but this is America, and that’s not the case, okay?” she explained. “I receive $3.63 from the restaurant I work at. My income, my wage, is derived from tips.”
She added that restaurant menu prices are intentionally kept lower, so that customers leave a tip.
“The food is priced lower because you are expected to leave a tip on it,” she explained. “If you cannot afford to tip, then you don’t deserve to dine out.”
Lillie compared the work of a server with that of a nanny. “It’s the same thing with a nanny. If you can’t afford to pay someone a full salary, you don’t deserve a nanny,” she said.
She ended her video stating that if you can’t tip, then “you literally don’t deserve to dine out.” The TikToker suggested non-tippers choose fast-food places instead of restaurants.
“And to anyone who says we should be getting paid a higher hourly… Okay??? BUT WE AREN’T. Not tipping will only make your dining experience WORSE!!!!”
Needless to say, the video attracted the attention of many who shared their opinion.
“I always tip, but the entitlement is just wild, like, find a different job that doesn’t require you to run around and pays you well hourly,” one person commented.
Another person suggested that if a person isn’t happy with their job, they should seek other options. “If you can’t live off your job pay, find another job. This is ridiculous,” they wrote.
As expected, there were also netizens who agreed with Lillie’s opinion on leaving a tip. “LITERALLY… I make $2.13 an hour, and we literally don’t receive paychecks at all,” someone wrote. “SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK,” another person added.
Someone gave a suggestion, writing, “Go off, girl. If someone doesn’t tip because they believe the employer should pay fair wages, then they should only support businesses that do so.”

Following my divorce from Roy, our son, Austin, stayed with me. We created a perfect little world together, but then his stepmom entered into his life, and everything started feeling different.
I was struggling to make ends meet. Bills were piling up, and even working two jobs wasn’t enough to have my household running.

My ex-husband, Roy, called me a few days before Thanksgiving and offered to help me, but I was too proud to accept his help and said I had everything under control. The truth was, I hadn’t.
But he could sense things weren’t smooth, so he invited Austin and me at his new place. I didn’t want to go, but Austin insisted, so I said yes.
On Thanksgiving, my son and I headed towards Roy and Jill’s place. We knocked on the door, and the smell of a perfectly roasted turkey could be felt in the air. And there she was, Jill, Austin’s stepmom.

I worked day and night to be able to afford the perfect Christmas for him. From washing dishes at the local restaurant, to cleaning the offices at a huge company, I saved every penny for a perfect holiday.
First, I bought the LEGOs Austin loved so much and wrapped them in a shiny paper. Then, I set up the Christmas tree and put all of the ornaments Austin and I have been collecting over the years.
This Christmas, his stepmom wouldn’t outshine me.
On Christmas Eve, Austin was finally coming home. But, he didn’t come all by himself. He called me and asked me if his dad and stepmom can come as well. Unwillingly, I agreed. At the end of the day, it was all about Austin, and more than anything, I wanted to see him happy.
Jill approached me, as though she felt guilty for the state I was in.
“You see, I come from a blended family,” she said. “I never wanted to take Austin from you, you are his mom, the most important person in his life. I just want to be part of his life, but never take your place.”
Her words seemed genuine. I realized she wasn’t a bad person. In fact, she did love my son, I was just jealous of her because she could provide more to Austin than I could.
We had an open conversation and decided not to compete over Austin’s love and attention.
From that moment on, we celebrated the holidays as a family, and Austin shared his time between his dad’s and my place. I realized that no matter where he lived, Austin was my son and I needn’t have to fight for his love.

My husband and I have been together for seven years. Our marriage has been picture perfect, or that’s what I thought so until I overheard his conversation with his friends during which he called me his ugly wife.

Gerald found himself looking at the photo of his middle son for what felt like the hundredth time that week. The thought that Aidan didn’t resemble him troubled him.

According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Harry has been looking for a house in Britain to have a place to stay when visiting his family, with whom he’s not been on good terms since stepping down from his royal duties.
Harry visited Britain a handful of times, and the possibility of him making a visit to his homeland together with his family is a matter of discussion because his wife Meghan fears for her children’s safety when in Britain.
A source close to the Sussexes opened up about Meghan’s decision not to accompany her husband to Britain for the Invictus Games celebration.
“It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn’t feel safe. The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone,” they said at the time.
Last year, Harry disputed the Home Office’s decision to cut his security protection while he was in the UK. Following his departure from royal life, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) withdrew his automatic police protection. Additionally, his offer to pay for his own security was rejected because British police could not be hired privately.
“It was with great sadness for both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020,” Harry’s statement, read by his lawyer Shaheed Fatima KC stated, as reported by BBC.

“I’ve had a lived experience since I was a kid,” he said, “I’ve seen stories written about myself that aren’t exactly based on reality.

Shoveling snow for our neighbor, Mr. Dickinson, who loves flaunting his wealth and bragging about his business ventures, was how my 12-year-old son planned to earn his money for Christmas gifts.
When Mr. Dickinson saw him one day and offered him $10 a day for shoveling the snow from his driveway, Ben was over the moon.
Although it was hard work, he was eager to be the one getting the dollhouse his sister Anne loved from the moment she saw it at the toy store’s window.
And for me, he wanted to gift me a Christmas scarf with snowflakes. “I’m saving what’s left for a telescope,” Ben said excitedly.

The thought of “earning” his own money by shoveling snow made him really happy.
On the first day, his little fingers were stiff, and his cheeks were red, but there was a smile on his face.
The following day, Ben’s excitement grew bigger. “Mom, I’m doing it faster now.”
Eight days of hard work passed by, and Ben was finally getting his money, or at least that’s what he thought.

While I was making dinner, he stormed inside the house with tears in his eyes. “What’s wrong, honey,” I asked.
He came closer, gave me a hug, and said, “Mom, Mr. Dickinson won’t pay me for shoveling snow all these days. He said no written contract, no money.”

That evening, my husband and I made a plan. It was time that Mr. Dickinson learned a lesson of respecting a young man’s hard work.
In the morning, I told Ben and Anne to put on their winter clothes and get outside. When they asked me what we were doing that early, I told them we would be righting a wrong, and they both knew what I was talking about.

My husband fired up the snowblower, Ben grabbed his shovel, and even Anne was determined to help teach Mr. Dickinson a lesson.
First, we cleared our driveway and then moved to the sidewalk, making sure we created neat paths for the neighbors. Then, as the snow pile grew larger, we approached Mr. Dickinson’s clear driveway.

Our fingers froze, and we were exhausted. However, Mr. Dickinson’s face when he spotted the piles of snow on his driveway was worth the struggle.
He was angry and started yelling at us, threatening he would file a lawsuit.
I then turned to him and said, “Well, Mr. Dickinson, there is something called quantum meruit in the world of law. A legal concept that says if you don’t pay for someone’s work, you don’t get to enjoy the benefits.”

He said he didn’t care, and that he was calling the police anyways. But I reminded him there were plenty of witnesses among the neighbors who saw him exploit a minor without paying him for shoveling snow all way.
Needless to say, Mr. Dickinson understood he was wrong, and came knocking at our door with an envelope in his hand. Inside were the hard earned eight $10 bills.

This time, she shared a photo of herself from the hospital, telling her fans that after years of living in pain, she has finally decided to take care of a condition she suffered from.
Namely, Bindi was diagnosed with endometriosis, a disorder in which cells identical to the lining of the uterus develop outside of the uterus.
The thing is that she spent years trying to figure out what was wrong with her.
“Dear Friends, I battled for a long time wondering if I should share this journey with you in such a public space. It came down to the responsibility I feel to share my story for other women who need help,” she wrote on the social media and explained that doctors’ ignored her symptoms for long.
“A doctor told me it was simply something you deal with as a woman & I gave up entirely, trying to function through the pain. I didn’t find answers until a friend @lesliemosier helped set me on a path of regaining my life. I decided to undergo surgery for endometriosis,” she wrote, adding that the doctors found thirty-seven lesions and an ovarian cyst.
Then, it was a friend of hers who encouraged her to do all in her power to detect the reason behind the pain she experienced for so long.
Finally, she was diagnosed and could get the treatment needed.
“Things may look fine on the outside looking in through the window of someone’s life, however, that is not always the case. Please be gentle & pause before asking me (or any woman) when we’ll be having more children,” she wrote.
“Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light,” the proud mom wrote. “Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.”

Bunnie XO, Jelly Roll’s wife, spoke on her podcast, Dumb Blonde, about the common ‘misconception’ about OCD and how she’s dealing with it daily.
“I know some people joke about being a little OCD, but as someone who’s actually living with OCD, I’ll be the first to tell you it’s not a laughing matter,” Bunnie XO said.
“It isn’t just being tidy or organized. OCD is actually having disturbing, unwanted thoughts that cause you overwhelming anxiety because they just feel so wrong, and you really don’t wanna be thinking about them.”
Bunnie XO then went into details about her repetitive behaviors.
“You do [them] to try to make the anxiety from those thoughts go away; but that just doesn’t work in the long run, and they just keep coming back,” she explained.
“The idea that OCD is only about hand-washing and organization is a complete misconception,” Bunnie continued. “It often focuses on the things we care about most, our relationships, religious beliefs, our hobbies, and passions, in an attempt to make the distress from their unwanted thoughts go away.”
Earlier this year, Bunnie XO shared with fans that she experienced a “pretty scary” situation after undergoing an MRI/MRA scan.
According to her, her results showed that she had a “two-millimeter aneurysm on my carotid artery,” but days later, she was told it was likely instead “an artifact.”
“I tell you what, this health scare put so much in perspective for me,” Bunnie XO told her followers. “It honestly made me want to change a lot of things in my life.”
She continued, “Be more appreciative of my family & friends. It also made me reevaluate my relationship w/ God & learn to have faith for the first time in my life.”
In May, 2024, Bunnie XO suffered the loss of her father, Bill. He died of cancer.
Bunnie XO paid tributes to her dad on the social media, writing, “Hey Bill, I’m going to miss you. You are still my favorite rock star & my hero. This one’s going to hurt.”

David, a young and talented football player, always dreamed of making it to the national team. Despite being just 12, he practiced a lot, and was determined to make his dream come true. He also dreamed of a pair of spiked shoes.
Every now and then, while sitting at the window seat on the school bus, he daydreamed of lifting the trophy of an important championship and thanking his mother for everything she had done for him. “That would be an awesome speech,” he would mumble.

For months, David had been saving for a new pair of sneakers. He loved those sneakers so much. Every day, he would sell lemonade on the stand he had built himself and would help his neighbors with errands in order to be able to collect the money himself without burdening his mom who already had a lot on her plate raising him and his twin sisters.
David stopped by the shoe store and told the owner that he had been saving up for the new shoes. “Young man, your shoes will be here waiting,” Mr. Manning said with a smile on his face.
One day, on the way to school, a boy named Guillermo asked David if he could take the seat next to him. “Of course,” David replied.

Guillermo admired David. He wanted to be famous among the schoolmates just as David was.
That day, Guillermo told David that he liked his shoes, but David said they were old already and that he was saving up for a brand new pair.
Guillermo felt a bit embarrassed and hid his feet under the seat. The truth was that it was his shoes that were old and worn out, not David’s.
In the days that followed, David and Guillermo became close friends. One day, David told his friend, “Guillermo, I finally did it. My piggy bank is full. I’m getting my dream shoes today.”

Guillermo was very happy for David, and as the two talked, the bus suddenly jolted over a pothole, and one of Guillermo’s shoes fell off onto the bus floor.
David was taken aback. The shoe had a hole on the sole. He felt sorry for his friend and a bit embarrassed because he was bragging about the new shoes this whole time, while his friend’s were really old, the canvas was coming apart, and there was no sign of a lace.
The following day, David asked Guillermo to go with him to the store.

Once inside, Mr. Manning told David, “Congrats, young man, you earned your own money for the shoes. They are perfectly set in a box, waiting for you.”
“Mr. Manning,” David said, “I want the shoes, but in a smaller size, please.”
Mr. Manning was confused. “But these are your size, young man,” he said. David then pointed to Guillermo and said, “I want them in his size.”
Guillermo was stunned. “No, David, there is no need to…” But David stopped him before he finished his sentence. “Guillermo, you are such a good friend. You say I;m your idol and you call me your hero. Please, let me get these shoes for you.”
Mr. Manning knew David was a special boy, but he was still stunned at how kind his heart was.
He took out a pair of shoes in Guillermo’s size and handed it to him.

Once home, however, David’s mom asked him if he got the shoes. Looking at the floor, thinking she would scold him, he said quietly, “Mom, I bought them for my friend Guillermo. His were really old, and I thought he needed them more than I did.”

As the two talked about Guillermo, a truck pulled in front of their home.

Rapper Chris King, a friend of Justin Bieber, was fatally shot while hanging out in an alleyway with a group of his friends in Nashville.
According to the police, King and two of his friends, were approached by a group of men whom they didn’t know.

“The (surviving) 29-year-old victim reported the group was hanging out cordially for some time before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends,” the statement released by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said. “It was then that he heard gunfire and realized he was struck.”
Sadly, King, 32, died after being taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

When Alice made the decision to move places, all she hoped for was a fresh start. She did her best to leave her past behind and settled into what she believed was a quiet and welcoming neighborhood.

Alice looked at her cup of coffee that was standing on the counter for too long, and just as she was about to take a sip, there was yet another knock, and then another, and another. Exhausted from the forced small talks with her neighbors, Alice thought to herself that this neighborhood could be a bit too welcoming for her taste.

His words seemed genuine. He was truly sorry, and Alice realized she judged him too quickly.

A woman took to Reddit to ask fellow netizens if she was in the wrong for refusing to pay for her boyfriend and his children’s meal for God knows which time after he forgot his credit card yet again.
Sharing her story, she explained that she and her boyfriend had been dating for nine months. He had two daughters from a previous relationship who loved dining out.
The four have been eating out once a week, and her boyfriend always forgets his wallet, which leaves her paying the bill for everyone every single time.
The last time they decided to go out, she texted him to remind him to bring his wallet, but he laughed it off.
Once at the restaurant, the children started ordering the priciest items on the menu. Before they started eating, the woman asked her boyfriend if he had his wallet with him. He looked at her kind of shocked and started searching his pockets after which he said, “Guess I forgot it in the other pair of jeans that I thought I was going to wear” then asked her to foot the bill “just this time.”
At that moment, she felt like she had it enough, grabbed her bag, and got up.
When he asked her where she was going, she said she wasn’t paying “this time AGAIN” and to enjoy his dinner with the kids.
Later, he called her and accused her of having no sympathy for his kids. Apparently, he was forced to cancel everything and take his kids home hungry.
“We got into an argument and he’s been mad at me about it since then saying things like how he needs to take a look at how I’m treating the kids specifically and how I was willing to let them go hungry with my selfishness,” the woman concluded her post, asking if her action was wrong.
Redditors agreed that she wasn’t in the wrong because it was obvious he “forgot” hos wallet on purpose and was using her.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside a Hilton on Wednesday.
Thompson, alongside two other executives, was facing a lawsuit of insider trading related to an ongoing Justice Department investigation.
The class action lawsuit was initiated in May. It claimed that Thompson and two other executives offloaded millions in stock during a federal antitrust investigation.
“UnitedHealth was aware of the DOJ investigation since at least October 2023. Instead of disclosing this material investigation to investors or the public, UnitedHealth insiders sold more than $120 million of their personally held UnitedHealth shares,” the suit filed by the City of Hollywood Firefighters’ Pension Fund alleges.
Since, the New York Police Department released two photos of the suspect for the killing of Thompson.

When my father married my stepmother Linda following my mom’s passing, I hoped for the best. She had two daughters, Amanda and Becca, and the thought of having sisters felt comforting at the time. I was just a 12-year-old girl who suffered a loss, and the presence of someone my age in my life could bring a sense of normalcy, or at least that’s what I thought.

Lila Marsland, who was weeks shy of her sixth birthday, was found unresponsive next to her mother, Rachel, 36.
When the mom woke up and realized her daughter wasn’t breathing, she called the paramedics. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done. According to them, the girl had been dead for several hours before they arrived at her home.
The devastated mother said the family didn’t have any answers of the cause of death. Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Rachel shared, “I woke up and she was dead next to me. I rang for an ambulance but she had been dead a few hours.

“They gave her CPR; they arrived within minutes but it was already too late. It’s horrendous. I still can’t believe it’s happened.
“She was kind to everyone; I would take her to school and pick her up and she would be hugging all the teachers. It would take her 30 minutes to leave.”
Lila attended Flowery Field Primary School in Hyde.
She was described as “the nicest child ever.” According to her mom, Lila had a lot of friends and was known for her bright red hair and her bubbly personality.
“Because we don’t know what she’s died of, I don’t feel like we can even grieve properly at the moment. We haven’t even been given answers on how she’s died,” Rachel told Manchester Evening News.

Lila’s funeral was held a month after her sudden passing, with everyone from her primary school in attendance.
“It was a nice send off for her,” Rachael said. “We had a horse and carriage. The church was absolutely packed; all the school attended. It was the perfect day for her.”
Tragically, Lila died on December 28, 2023. In October of 2024, an inquest into Lila’s death has now opened at Stockport Coroners Court, with troubling details emerging at a pre-inquest review hearing, Manchester Evening News reported.
It emerged that the original copies of Lila’s medical notes in the weeks leading up to her death had been ‘misplaced.’

“The court heard that there appeared to be no entry on records provided to the court for an assessment at 18.35 on October 8 2023. Other entries on the records indicated that Lila had been prescribed paracetamol, and though she never received the medication this suggested that she had been seen by someone senior enough to order a prescription,” the outlet reported.
Area Coroner Chris Morris requested that the ‘misplaced’ original copies of the notes be located, adding this is a “serious matter.”
“We believe this is a complete record because a copy was taken before the original was misplaced.”
Further, Mr. Morris decided that the inquest will have a jury and set aside a period of eight days, an unusually long time.
