A couple on the plane said my scar frightened them

The car crash that left me scarred for life changed my life forever. The sound of a shattering glass resonated deeply with me as I was doing my best to recover from the trauma.

My scar, fresh and still red in some places, ran from just above my left eyebrow down past my cheek and ended near my jawline. For weeks, I avoided the mirror and couldn’t stand looking at my own face while my family and friends tried to comfort me. “That scar is a symbol of resilience and a second chance in life,” my mom would say.

Deep down, however, I was scared of the stares from strangers. I didn’t want people to look at me and wonder why I looked the way I did. But that scar was now part of me and I had to learn how to live with it.

My dermatologist said it would fade a bit over time, but I knew that my scar was there to stay.

One day, as I boarded a plane to get back home and visit my family, I put my headphones on and drifted off to sleep.

Some time later, I was awoken by the couple arguing next to me. At first, I didn’t understand what they were saying, but it became obvious that they were talking about it.

They judged me instantly, just by looking at me.

The man turned to me and said, “Can’t you cover your face? You make me and my girlfriend uncomfortable. Your appearance is frightening.”

The woman covered her nose with her sweater, and I remained quiet while he called the flight attendant.

“This woman is upsetting us. Please move her to another seat,” the man said, pointing at me.

The flight attendant approached me and asked me if I was all right. I just nodded, unable to say a word without letting tears rolling down my face.

She then turned to the couple and said, “Sir, ma’am, I must ask that you lower your voices and show respect for your fellow passengers. she said in a firm yet courteous tone.

“We are all here to travel in comfort and peace, and your comments are causing unnecessary disturbance.”

But the couple persisted. They demanded I change seats.

The flight attendant left and that’s when the captain‘s voice echoed. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your flight attendant speaking. We ask that you please maintain a respectful tone and refrain from any further comments that may be hurtful or discriminatory. Thank you.”

I was offered a seat at business class. Not because the flight attendant wanted to please the couple’s outrageous demand but because she thought I deserved to spend the rest of the flight in peace.

That day, I learned that there will always be someone there who would stare at me and question my beauty, but I know that the true beauty comes from the inside and is inspired by resilience and self-love.

Trump health fears grow as ‘catheter’ spotted during White House event

President Donald Trump bragged about the results of his first physical examination since taking Office for the second time. The tests also included cognitive assessment.

“I took a cognitive test. And I don’t know what to tell you, other than I got every answer right. I took just a lot of different tests, having to do with the heart, having to do with other things,” Trump said in April.

Dr. Sean Barbabella, who performed the five-hour medical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, declared Trump “fully fit.”

Trump attended the UFC and photos of him caught the attention of many who claimed he was wearing what appeared to be a "catheter."
X

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote in his report regarding the test results. “He remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.

“His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”

However, despite these results, fears over Trump’s health started growing after a “catheter” was spotted in his pants during a White House event.

Trump attended the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on June 9 and a couple of photos of him that were shared online caught the attention of many who claimed he was having what appeared to be a “catheter.”

“Trump appears to wearing leg braces and possibly a catheter. The weakness on his right side has been pretty evident for a number of years. And the bruising on his right hand might be caused from his receiving infusion therapy of some sort. Common with a Parkinson’s type disease,” one person wrote on X.

Another said, “Trump is absolutely wearing a Foley catheter. It’s a tube inserted into the bladder to drain urine into a bag strapped to the leg. That line down his pants? Not a crease. It’s tubing. Every step he takes sounds like the sloshing of a warm Capri Sun.”

“Foley catheter. Urinary incontinence is a symptom of late stage Prefrontal Temporal Dementia,” a third commented.

Other users suspected he could be wearing a leg brace.

Of course, there were also those who claimed it wasn’t a catheter.

“No it isn’t. That pant leg is close fitting and that perfectly straight line is a crease. Foley catheters are absolutely not standard of care except post procedure. A walkie talkie patient gets self-cath or male pads,” one post read.

White House spokesperson Steven Cheung commented on the matter.

“The President has been the most transparent president in history, and the recent medical report that was released clearly and unequivocally shows he is in peak condition,” he told Snopes in an email.

“These conspiracy theories peddled by demented individuals hiding behind social media, and now being given a platform by the fake news, clearly suffer from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. These are the same people who have been caught trying to gaslight the American people for years by saying Joe Biden was cognitively fine, when in fact, he was in much worse condition than thought.”

DOGE aids in the arrest of two Ukrainian nationals accused of voting illegally in the US

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the arrest of two Ukrainian nationals who voted in the US elections illegally.

The arrests were made with the help of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) when Elon Musk was still the head of the department.

Svitlana Demydenko, 53, and her daughter Yelyzaveta, 22, the Ukrainian nationals under arrest, entered the US in April 2021 with non-immigrant visas.

While residing in Florida in August 2024, the mother and daughter registered to vote through a process that demands citizenship certification. They, however, bypassed this check and got to vote in the 2024 General Election.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem said in a social media post, “In partnership with @DOGE, @ICEgov arrested two Ukrainian nationals for illegally VOTING in the 2024 election.”

She added that, “Under President Donald Trump, if you come to our country and break our laws, you will face the consequences.”

When questioned about their participation in the voting, Svitlana claimed she wasn’t aware that she wasn’t allowed to vote, while her daughter said she registered to vote because she wanted to make a difference.

Both have been charged with unlawfully voting in the General Election for United States President during early voting in Palm Beach, Fla., on Oct. 31, 2024.

According to a report by Breitbart News on April 7, an official from the Department of Government Efficiency claimed that millions of migrants welcomed to the country under former President Joe Biden’s administration are registered voters, with some having voted in the 2024 election.

“Most recently, DOGE chief Elon Musk said that potentially millions of illegal aliens who arrived in the U.S. under Biden have secured Social Security numbers,” Breitbart News’s John Binder wrote.

20 subtle cancer symptoms commonly missed

Your body has an incredible way of signaling when something might be wrong, including early warning signs of cancer. Listening closely to these signals can help in spotting diseases early, allowing for timely medical intervention. If you notice any of these early warning signs of cancer, it’s important to consult a doctor to determine if further testing is necessary.

Indirect Symptoms

Cancer doesn’t always show its hand directly. Often, the body manifests signs that aren’t obviously linked to the primary tumor or affected area. Recognizing these subtle symptoms can make a significant difference in early detection.

Wheezing or Shortness of Breath

Lung cancer patients often recall this as one of their earliest symptoms, though they didn’t initially associate it with cancer.

Frequent Fevers or Infections

A sign of leukemia, this occurs when abnormal white blood cells hinder your body’s ability to fight infections.

Difficulty Swallowing

Commonly linked to throat cancer, but it may also indicate lung cancer in some cases.

Weakness and Fatigue

Fatigue is such a common symptom of cancer that it’s best evaluated in combination with other early warning signs of cancer.

Feeling Full and Unable to Eat

This could be an early indicator of ovarian cancer, particularly when paired with a persistent loss of appetite.

Visible Bodily Changes

Cancer can also bring about physical changes that are more noticeable. These changes often depend on the type and stage of the disease, but they can provide crucial clues for early detection.

Rectal Bleeding or Blood in Stool

This is a common warning sign of colorectal cancer and should prompt immediate medical attention.

Lumps in the Neck, Underarms, or Groin Area

Swollen lymph nodes might indicate changes in the lymphatic system, potentially signaling cancer.

Excessive Bruising or Bleeding That Doesn’t Stop

Abnormalities in platelet or red blood cell function, often linked to leukemia, can lead to unexplained bleeding or bruising.

Bloating or Abdominal Weight Gain

Many ovarian cancer patients report sudden, persistent bloating as a primary early symptom.

Unexplained Weight Loss

This can be an early sign of colon or digestive cancers and may also occur when cancer spreads to the liver.

Red, Sore, or Swollen Breasts

Inflammatory breast cancer can cause these changes, while a nipple appearing flattened or inverted may also signal trouble.

Pain Symptoms

Persistent pain in specific areas of the body could also be a sign of cancer. Understanding these pain-related symptoms can help identify the need for further medical evaluation.

Unusually Heavy or Painful Periods, or Bleeding Between Periods

This is a common symptom of endometrial or uterine cancer.

Chronic Cough or Chest Pain

Cancers such as leukemia and lung cancer often cause symptoms that resemble bronchitis or a persistent bad cough.

Pelvic or Abdominal Pain

Pain and cramping in the pelvic area are frequently linked with ovarian cancer. Leukemia can also enlarge the spleen, causing abdominal pain.

Pain in the Back or Lower Right Side

This is often an early warning sign of cancer in the liver. Breast cancer might also cause back pain when tumors press against the chest or spread to the spine.

Upset Stomach or Persistent Stomach Pain

Frequent stomach cramps or discomfort can indicate colorectal cancer.

How to Reduce Your Risk

If you notice any of these early warning signs of cancer, don’t panic—but do consult a doctor for proper guidance. Early detection can save lives. Additionally, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, normalizing vitamin D levels, and reducing environmental toxin exposure are crucial steps in cancer prevention.

London-bound plane with 242 on board crashes in India

A London-bound passenger plane crashes shortly after takeoff in the city of Ahmedabad, India, with 242 passengers on board.

Footage of the deadly crash showed the Air India Boeing 787-8 flying low above a residential area before crashing and turning into a ball of flames.

According to reports from Sky News and Flightradar24, a flight tracking website, the plane lost communication. The location of the collision — the heavily populated residential neighbourhood of Meghani Nagar located outside Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat — was identified by tall smoke columns. First responders rushed to the scene in a matter of seconds.

Indian Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu responded swiftly, saying, “I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action. Rescue teams have been mobilized. All efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families.”

According to the initial police report about the tragedy, there have been no survivors. However, as rescue teams continued their extensive search, Ahmedabad police commissioner, G.S. Malik said there could be survivors.

Among those who escaped death is 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national.

Unverified videos show Ramesh, who was believed to be in seat 11a, talking to the locals.

He was reported saying, “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.”

Krishna, a doctor who hasn’t revealed his full name spoke of the tragedy. “One half of the plane crashed into the residential building where doctors lived with their families. The nose and front wheel landed on the canteen building where students were having lunch,” he said.

Gatwick Airport issued a statement: “We can confirm that flight AI171 that crashed on departure from Ahmedabad Airport today was due to land at London Gatwick at 18:25.”

Julian Bray, an aviation specialist, told the Daily Mail: “It’s a Boeing Dreamliner that has gone down—not certain whether they’ve managed to get anybody off the plane. If it has indeed crash-landed and they can deploy the chutes out, then they should be able to get people off in 90 seconds. I am aware there are fire appliances in attendance—this is a major incident. It is very disappointing that it is a Dreamliner as it is a state-of-the-art Boeing. We cannot rule out security issues. But this is all speculation on my part.”

Jason Knight, senior lecturer in fluid mechanics at the University of Portsmouth, shared his thoughts on the possible cause of the tragic crash. “It is very unlikely that the plane was overweight or carrying too much fuel. The aircraft is designed to be able to fly on one engine, so the most likely cause of the crash is a double engine failure. The most likely cause of a double engine failure is a bird strike.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Father fatally beat man who followed his daughter into restroom

Melvin Harris, a Phoenix father who fatally beat a man that allegedly tried to enter his daughter’s bathroom stall, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The incident took place at a Phoenix convenience store on August 2, 2018.

Harris, who was initially charged with second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

On the day of the tragic incident, Harris had taken his daughter at a QT convenience store near 19th and Dunlap Avenues in Phoenix and waited for her at the parking lot.

When she got out, she told her father that a man, later identified as Leon Armstrong, tried to enter her locked bathroom stall.

Security escorted Armstrong out, and while he was taken out of the store, Harris’ daughter pointed him out to her father who started a verbal confrontation.

However, things got out of control very quickly and Harris punched Armstrong in the face, knocking him down. After he fell on the ground, Harris continued beating him and stomped on him before leaving the scene.

As a result of the punches, Armstrong sustained severe brain injury and passed away a couple of days later.

Harris was arrested shortly after. He argued he acted to defend his daughter, but according to prosecutors, he crossed the line and used excessive force. Harris took a plea deal, admitting to manslaughter in exchange for dropping the murder charge that would have resulted in a lengthy prison sentence.

The case gained a nationwide attention with people taking sides. While many claimed Harris did what any father would do to protect their child, others said he shouldn’t have taken matters into his own hands.

At the same time, the case raised questions regarding violence and self-defence, as well as what security guards are expected to do in situations like these.

Trump $1,000 baby funds: Are you on the list?

President Donald Trump has launched what he dubs one of the most visionary policies of his presidency: “Trump Accounts,” a plan to invest $1,000 of government funds into stock market–linked accounts for all US babies born within a four-year window — from late 2024 to early 2029.

Top business leaders who will contribute to billions more to an initiative tied to “the big beautiful bill,” backed up the baby funds by Trump, the Guardian reports.

“For every US citizen born after December 31, 2024, before January 1, 2029, the federal government will make a one-time contribution of $1,000 into a tax-deferred account that will track the overall stock market,” Trump told the CEOs of major companies gathered at a White House roundtable.

Among the business owners and executives were Michael Dell, Dara Khosrowshahi of Uber, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs and Vladimir Tenev of Robinhood.

Speaking of their contributions, Trump praised them as “really the greatest business minds we have today” who are “committed to contributing millions of dollars to the Trump account.”

Further, President Trump said of the plan, “It’s a pro-family initiative that will help millions of Americans harness the strength of our economy to lift up the next generation, and they’ll really be getting a big jump on life.”

To qualify for the program, the baby must be a US-born citizen whose both parents have Social Security numbers.

Families and others can contribute to the accounts as long as the the total number doesn’t exceed $5,000 annually. There will only be exceptions for the non-profit organizations.

The funds, which the children won’t have access to until they turn 18, will be invested in a diversified, low-cost U.S. stock index fund or equivalent.

REUTERS via NewYork Post

Once they turn 18, they will be able to use the money in purchasing a first home, higher education expenses, other qualifying post-secondary credentialing, or mall business or small farm expenses only.

Only when the account beneficiary turns 30 would they gain full control of all the funds for any purpose, according to Time.

House speaker Mike Johnson shared his thoughts on the program, saying,: “It’s a bold, transformative policy that gives every eligible American child a financial head start from day one. Republicans are proud to be the party we always have been. It supports life and families, prosperity and opportunity.”

“Trump Accounts” is just one component of his administration’s ambitious “big, beautiful bill” that intends to reshape American economic relationships.

Sad Obama family news

The Obama family suffered the loss of Marian Robinson, the mother of Michelle Obama.

Robinson, who lived in the White House during her son-in-law’s presidency and brought “normality” into the lives of her granddaughters, Sasha and Malia, died aged 86.

Her family said in a statement that she died “peacefully.”

“As a sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend to so many, she was beloved beyond words by countless others whose lives were improved by her presence,” the statement from the Obamas and the Robinsons said.

“She passed peacefully this morning, and right now, none of us are quite sure how exactly we’ll move on without her.”

The former first lady paid tribute to the woman she called “her rock.”

“My mom Marian Robinson was my rock, always there for whatever I needed. She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share she passed away today,” Michelle posted on X.

Barack Obama wrote, “There was and will be only one Marian Robinson. In our sadness, we are lifted up by the extraordinary gift of her life. And we will spend the rest of ours trying to live up to her example.”

The Bidens also shared their deepest condolences.

“We knew Mrs. Marian Robinson as a devoted mother and grandmother with a fierce and unconditional love of her family. With the blessing of friendship, we felt that love ourselves – with every quiet smile or warm embrace she shared with us,” Joe and Jill posted.

Marian Robinson was born Marian Lois Shields in 1937 in Chicago’s South Side. She married Fraser Robinson and the couple welcomed two children together, Michelle and Craig. Fraser passed away in 1991 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Robinson took an active role in her children’s education and supported them every step of the way.

During a May 7 episode on the podcast IMO that Michelle Obama co-hosts with her brother, she recalled her husband’s words after the passing of her mother; “You’re next up.”

“That’s sort of the darned thing about being a grown-up. When you lose your parents, you’re next up,” Michelle said about stepping into the family’s matriarchal role. “I guess if anything with mom’s loss, I thank God you’re my big brother and I have a husband who’s older.

“Because Barack was saying, ‘Well, you’re next up.’ And I was like, ‘I’m not really ready to be next up.’ I told him, ‘You’re next up. And Craig is next up. I delegate that power to you,’” she joked.
