Father gives daughter an old car to teach her a valuable lesson

0

When we are young, we always believe we are the ones who are always right, and as a result, we believe what our parents teach us is wrong. However, over time, we realize that they are the only people who would never do us wrong.

A father decided to teach his daughter a valuable life lesson when he gave her his old car as a gift.

One day, he approached her, handed her the car keys, and said, “You finished with honors, so here’s a car I bought back then. Take it to the center’s used parking lot, act as like you were about to sell it, and see how much the car is worth.”

The daughter did exactly what she was told.

But she soon returned home disappointed and told her father how she was only offered $1,000 because the car was old and looked worn.

The dad then said, “Pawn her.” But the daughter told him that she tried that already and the pawn shop owner only offered her $100.

Hearing this, the father persuaded her to take the car to an auto club.

She agreed, and to her surprise, someone at the club recognized the old Nissan Skyline R34 as a jewel and offered to buy it for $100,000.

It was then that the father told his daughter that he wanted to teach her something very important about life and told her, “I wanted you to know that the right place values you in the right way. If you are not appreciated, don’t get upset; it just means you’re not where you should be. Who knows how much someone would value you? Avoid going in a place where no one respects you.”

What a beautiful story, don’t you agree?

Al Roker suffers serious health scare, shares update with fans on Instagram

0

Al Roker, the longtime Today show anchor, shared worrying news on Instagram.

The weatherman told his fans how he’s been hospitalized and receiving treatment after doctors found blood clots. That was the reason why he was absent from our screens for the past two weeks.

Along with a photo of flowers, Al Roker shared a few details of the health scare he suffered.

“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been,” he began his post. “Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs.

“After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and hope to see you soon. Have a great weekend, everyone.”

This isn’t the first time for the TV personality to experience health issues. Two years ago, he revealed he’d been diagnosed with prostate cancer and had to have an organ removed. On top of it, he had undergone several surgeries to help him with his hip and knees issues.

Roker, who has been working in broadcast since the mid-’70s, has won a number of prizes over the years for his newscasts. Despite experiencing plenty of health issues, he was able to complete the Brooklyn Half Marathon just six months ago.

As expected, messages with well-wishes started pouring in. Among those who wished him a speedy recovery were Hoda Kotb, who wrote, “Al Roker– hurry back to us… counting the days xoxoxo,” and Jenna Bush Hager, who added, “Love you Al! Hurry home. You are missed and loved beyond measure!”

Dylan Dryer said, “Love you Al and praying every day for a speedy recovery!” And Craig Melvin wrote, “Love you brother…can’t wait to have you back!”

And Savannah Guthrie wrote, “You’re the strongest person we know. We miss you and will see you soon!!”

“He’s in good spirits, we’ve all talked to him,” said Guthrie said on Friday’s show. “He’s in great spirits,” Kotb further noted.

‘Dallas’ star Patrick Duffy was getting worse and worse since his wife passed away

0

The series Dallas, which aired from 1978 to 1991 on CBS, remains until this day a true TV classic. It revolved around the dramatic life of the Ewing family, and the numerous events involving back-stabbing, lust and greed.

Although it was a huge hit, it is one particular episode that gathered the attention of millions of viewers. Who Shot JR.? had been watched by 80 million Americans. Even today, this episode ranks as the second-highest. Worldwide, those numbers were even higher. It was reported back in the day that over 300 million people across 57 countries outside of the U.S. watched the show.

The truth is that Dallas wouldn’t be what it is had not been for the incredible actors. Among them, the man behind the role of Bobby Ewing, the youngest son of Miss Ellie, and the nicest brother of J.R. Ewing, actor Patrick Duffy.

Duffy was born March 17, 1949 in Townsend, Montana, to parents who owned a bar.

Growing up, Duffy showed aspirations for architecture, but it was his drama teacher who convinced him to do acting for a living. The great thing is that he took her advice and that’s when his life changed completely. “She wrote a letter of recommendation, and I got into a special program. From that moment on, I considered myself an actor.”

Getting accepted at the University of Washington to study drama was a huge deal because out of 1200 people who auditioned in order to get enrolled in the second year, only 12 got accepted, and Duffy, of course, was one of them.

At the start of his acting career, he worked as an Artist-in-Residence and performed with opera and ballet companies. This position didn’t bring him much fame, but it led to an encounter with the love of his life, ballet dancer Carlyn Rosser.

At the time they first met, she was already married, but the affection they felt for one another was so deep and genuine that she decided to file for a divorce.

“In short order, I fell in love with the art form and with her,” Duffy told Independent.

“She had the hardest job. She had to tell her husband. And they were happily married. It wasn’t, you know, a bad relationship. He was a good man, and he is a good man.”

“He was betrayed by her, and it was amicable in the sense that he let her go, but he was hurt,” he added. “It breaks my heart to think about it. It doesn’t break my heart enough to think that I would do anything differently.”

They married in 1974 and welcomed two sons.

Duffy’s role in Dallas came just as the sci-fi series in which he acted, Man from Atlantis, came to an end. According to the actor himself, he was just being handed the script and was told he had the role if he wanted it.

In the series, Duffy starred alongside Pamela Barnes, played by Victoria Principal, his on-screen wife.

The two were supposed to film intimate scenes, and that affected Duffy’s wife. He noticed she became emotional as she watched the show.

“And I look over, and my wife’s welling up in tears. I said: ‘Sweetheart, what’s the matter?” Duffy recalled in an interview with Independent.

“You’ve seen me do these scenes with Victoria before.’ And she said: ‘I just saw a look on your face I thought you only had with me.’ It broke my heart. I was probably thinking: ‘What’s for lunch?’”

After eight seasons, his character on the show was killed. The reason why is that his contract expired and he wanted to pursue other projects.

“I left because I had done the show for seven years. My contract was for seven years. It was obviously an ensemble show, and I thought if it was ever a time at the height of the popularity of that show, that I might be able to launch into something that was more of a single, starring venue, that that would be the time to do it,” Duffy told Huffington Post.

“I left the show, and that did not happen — typical Patrick Duffy business decision fiasco. I went back on the show because they asked me to, and I realized that was the best place to work, and I was back with my best friend.”

Over the years, Duffy suffered heartbreak. In 1986, his parents were killed in their bar, and in 2017, the love of his life passed away suddenly. Duffy felt immense grief and didn’t believe he could be with another woman ever again. He and Rosser were together for 43 years.

“It was a surprise when she passed,” Duffy told Closer Weekly. “There was no indication. So that was the big adjustment. My boys were there as stalwarts. But I also realized that, as much as they were trying to buttress old dad up, I’m probably more adjusted to this set of circumstances than they are. You reach a certain age, and you realize the road ahead is much shorter than the road behind.

“There are no mistakes in life,” he added. “I can mend every fence I’ve broken and create value out of everything I’ve done if I’m given enough time. I have done it, and I still am doing OK, I have worked hard to make the best of life, and it’s been good to me.”

Duffy attended the premiere of the film Warning shot at a theater in Beverly Hills, California, in the United States, and everyone was surprised with his looks. He didn’t resemble his old self and many agreed he aged a lot.

Fans were surprised by his presence. He signed autographs and was smiling, proving that his endearing demeanor has not faded with the time that has passed.

Today, however, four years after the loss, Duffy is in a relationship with actress Linda Purl.

It all started after they both ended up in a group chat with some of their colleagues during the pandemic. Eventually, they decided to give it a try.

Speaking of their relationship, Duffy told Closer Weekly, “We’ve eliminated all the trials and errors that happen in [younger] relationships. It’s all positive and lovely.” Purl, who had been married four times added, “Life is full of surprises, both good and bad,” she said. “Patrick and I weren’t looking for this. We didn’t expect it or see it coming when our paths crossed. Don’t ever give up.”

We are very happy Patrick Duffy found love again. We only wish him the best life can bring.

Ivanka Trump shares real reason why she won’t be part of Donald Trump’s presidential bid for 2024

0

Being the daughter of one of the most famous businessmen in America, Donald Trump, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Ivanka Trump has become a household name over the years.

Besides being part of the Trump organization, where she served as Executive Vice President of Development & Acquisitions, Ivanka has founded several business on her own.

When Donald Trump and Ivana Trump divorced, Ivanka was just 10 years old. Although her parents were extremely popular, with Donald running multi-billion dollar companies and businesses and Ivana being a very well known model, Ivanka recalls she had a confusing and somewhat uneasy childhood. While her friends were having fun in New York City, she was attending a boarding school. As a result, she turned to modeling because she saw it as a way of experiencing freedom.

Ivanka has spent most of her life under the spotlight. During her father’s presidency, she worked as his advisor and was by his side every step of the way. Now that Donald is no longer a president, she can focus on her family and her business, which in fact is something she is truly planning to do.

Namely, Donald Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States, announced October 15 that he would be running for the position yet again.

In the past, his entire family was heavily involved in his presidential campaign and they all offered him immense support, and this time, it probably won’t be any different. Well, except for Ivanka Trump who announced she won’t be getting involved into politics, no matter if it concerns her loving father.

Shutterstock

Back in 2016 when her dad ran for Office, Ivanka revealed her life was chaotic. “I’m exhausted 90 percent of the time … Being a mother is the most rewarding experience, but also the most wild and stressful,” she told People.

She worked as an advisor focusing on “the education and economic empowerment of women and their families as well as job creation and economic growth through workforce development, skills training, and entrepreneurship.”

However, many believed that she and her husband Jared Kushner had both took advantage of their position in order to make millions.

A clothing company in San Francisco accused Ivanka’s company of “improperly leveraging the power of the White House for private profit.”

The lawsuit which was filed in the California Superior Court claimed that employees of her company had promoted the company “by exploiting the power and prestige of the White House for personal gain,” including “piggy-backing promotion” of the firm’s products at governmental events, as reported by USA Today.

From the comfort of his Mar-a-Lago waterfront estate in Florida, Trump announced his candidacy with the words, “In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”

He then proceeded, “Two years ago, we were a great nation, and soon, we will be a great nation again. This will not be my campaign, this will be our campaign, all, together.

“I have no doubt that by 2024, it will sadly be much worse, and they will see clearly what has happened and is happening to our country – and the voting will be much different.”

Ivanka made it clear she doesn’t want to have anything with the campaign. On her social media, she wrote, “I love my father very much. This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.”

She didn’t attend Donald’s press conference.

“While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and I will always be proud of many of our Administration’s accomplishments.”

New York Post reported that a source claimed Donald Trump tried hard to persuade his daughter and son-in-law to join him in his campaign but to no avail.

“Trump thought he could convince Ivanka this weekend to come back and campaign for him as she was the most requested speaker after the president himself last time around,” the source said.

“But so far she’s resisting his entreaties and holding firm, as is Jared. They both feel they got burned in Washington and don’t want to go back and expose themselves and their children to another bitter campaign.”

This, however, doesn’t mean the relationship between Ivanka and Donald has changed. According to her, they are as close as they have ever been.

“That hasn’t changed and will never change. I’ve had many roles over the years, but that of daughter is one of the most elemental and consequential. I am loving this time with my kids, loving life in Miami and the freedom and privacy of with returned to the private sector. This has been one of the greatest times of my life,” Ivanka told Fox News, adding that she and Jared are “happy where we are right now, and we will continue to support my father—as his kids.”

This happens once in 48 million births- This is the little girl who impressed doctors from all over the world

0

Every child is special in their own way, but it looks like a baby girl named Lucy Marie Perkins is a bit more special than the rest of us. When she was welcomed into the world, she became one in 48 million children who share their birthday not with one parent, but both.

Lucy’s parents, Caitlin and Tom Perkins, are both born on August 16. They love the fact that they share a birthday together, and knowing that Caitlin’s due date was somewhere in August, they joked that their girl could be born on the same date as they were. Little did they know was that it was going to turn into a reality.

“HOLD ON TO THE PHONE!” Dr. Brad Robinson, Caitlin’s obstetrician, wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday, “You are not going to believe this story!” as he shared the news of the unique birth where a baby shares its birthday with that of mom and dad.

“’Can you guess who else has a birthday on August 6th now?’ YEP. Lucy was born yesterday, on the same day as her parents, after SPONTANEOUS labor!”

Caitlin and Tom, who are from Dirranbandi in South West Queensland, were looking for a date on their shared birthday and believed they would have a fun time celebrating their special day. As Caitlin was in the 39th week of pregnancy, she believed Lucy would be born in a couple of days time, but the sweet baby simply wouldn’t wait.

“When my waters broke, I responded ‘No way,’ because I was in denial,” the proud mom explained. Caitlin was transported to the Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane. Lucy weighted a healthy 3.3kg.

Dr. Robinson, who works as obstetrician for over a decade, said the day Lucy was born was one of the most memorable days of his life.

“I’m fortunate enough to have a job where I get special days on special days,” he said, “but yesterday was incredible.”

“It’s not every day that you’re pleased to be woken up at 2:15 a.m. by the phone. But around 2:15 a.m., I got a call from the midwife saying Caitlin had broken her waters, which I was overjoyed about because I had been pushing for it.”

Tiny cat found in dumpster is as rare as a unicorn

0

Abandoning animals is something we witness way too often. It is truly sad that some owners are so cruel that they would simply leave an animal behind instead of taking care of it and providing it with a good life.

A woman was passing by a dumpster when she heard strange noises coming out of it. She took her time to stop and that’s when she realized the sound was in fact meowing. Once she took a look inside, she spotted a tiny kitten.

Sadly, the little one had a broken front paw and its back paw suffered from gangrene. The woman decided to take the kitten, whom she named Martyr, with her.

Imgur/Vodkaholy

She fostered animals before so she believed Martyr was exceptionally lucky to end in her hands. But what she didn’t know at the time was that the cat was a unique one.

Sadly, Martyr lost the back paw but doctors helped the other one heal.

Being a calico cat, with a tri-color coat usually 25% to 75% white with large orange and black patches, everyone was convinced Martyr was female, and that’s because most calico cats are. However, Martyr was an exception. Being a male calico makes 1 in 3000.

Imgur/Vodkaholy

This is due to the X chromosome within cats, which helps display orange and black fur in them.

In female cats, due to the double X chromosomes they have, they get the colors typical for calico cats.

In order for a male cat to turn out calico, they must actually carry two X chromosomes in addition to a Y chromosome.

This is why Martyr is so special.

This beautiful animal became an internet sensation once his new owner’s niece shared his story along with his photos online.

The incredible sacrifices Jeff Bridges took to make sure he could walk his daughter down the aisle

0

Besides being an incredible actor with a number of awards under his belt and movies considered true classics, Jess Bridges is also a fighter and a loving father and husband.

Back in 2020, The Big Lebowski star was diagnosed with lymphoma and was forced to undergo chemo treatments. Sadly, things turned for the worse when he contracted COVID-19. Speaking of the experience he said that the virus made cancer ‘look like a piece of cake.’

Shutterstock

Unfortunately, his body was already weak from the cancer treatments he received and his immune system was compromised so he had a hard time fighting COVID-19, which unfortunately left him unable to stand on his feet.

“I had no defenses. That’s what chemo does — it strips you of all your immune system. I had nothing to fight it,” said Bridges in an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year. “I was pretty close to dying. I was in surrender mode. I was ready to go. I was dancing with my mortality,” the actor recalled.

However, he truly had something to fight for. His youngest daughter, Hayley Roselouise Bridges, was to get married in August 2021 and the actor knew he needed to go to great lengths if he wanted to walk her down the isle.

“Who would say, ‘I’d love some cancer and give me a dose of COVID? But my ability to receive all the love and give it was just heightened,” he said of his fight and of the small steps he took every day.

Eventually, he started working with a personal trainer months prior to Hayley’s wedding. He wanted to be sure he would be able to be by her side on her special day.

Hayley married Justin Shane at a ceremony which took place in Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez, California, and it was her father who walked her down the isle and even danced at the reception.

In an interview with Brides, Hayley said that her dad ”touched on a trait of Justin’s that I also mentioned in my vows, which is that kids and dogs love him. I believe this to be an example of his wonderful energy.”

The father-daughter duo hit the dance floor and danced on Ain’t That Love by Ray Charles.

So sad news about Chris Hemsworth

0

While being busy filming his docuseries Limitless, actor Chris Hemsworth, 39, undergone genetic tests which revealed he had two copies of the gene APOE4, one from each of his parents, which according to a study from the National Institute of Aging represents “strongest risk factor gene for Alzheimer’s disease.”

A 2021 study conducted by the National Institute of Health stated that only 2 to 3 percent of people have both copies of the gene, like in Hemsworth’s case. “[T]he plan was to on-camera tell me all the results and then talk about how you can improve this and that,” Hemsworth shared in an interview with Vanity Fair published November 18. “And Peter Attia, who is the longevity doctor in that episode, and overseeing a lot of the show, called [show creator] Darren [Aronofsky] and said, ‘I don’t want to tell him this on camera. We need to have an off-side conversation and see if he even wants this to be in the show.’” The actor was told that the results revealed he was “eight to ten times” more likely to get the disease.

Another proof of the high risk is the fact that Hemsworth’s grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

“It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off,” he said. “And since we finished the show, I’ve been completing the things I was already contracted to do. Now when I finish this tour this week, I’m going home and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”

This was yet another eye-opener that his hectic working schedule prevented him from spending more time with his family, daughter Indiana, 10, his twin sons Tristan and Sasha, 8, and wife Elsa Pataky.

“Doing an episode on death and facing your own mortality made me go, ‘Oh God, I’m not ready to go yet’,” he said. “Then you start talking about kids and family and going, ‘Oh my God, they’re getting older, they’re growing up and I keep slapping another movie on top of another movie.’ Before you know it, they’re 18 and they’ve moved out of house, and I missed the window.”

Hemsworth revealed that he was offered a version of the episode where they didn’t talk about the test results, but he said no and insisted on keeping it in the final version.

“I thought, ‘No, look, if this is a motivator for people to take better care of themselves and also understand that there are steps you can take—then fantastic.’ My concern was I just didn’t want to manipulate it and overdramatize it, and make it into some sort of hokey grab at empathy or whatever for entertainment.”

Now that he is taking some time off of work doesn’t mean he resigned or quit his career. On the contrary, he’s just taking time to spend more time with his family and prioritize what is most important to him. At the same time, he hopes those who read his interview and see the episode would be encouraged to do just the same.

“You don’t know when your time’s up, you don’t know what tomorrow holds,” he said. “Whether or not any of this information helps you live longer, it’s about living better right now. Whatever you do right now to benefit your future self is having a huge benefit in your current self.”

We are sending our love and prayers to Chris and his family.
