London-bound plane with 242 on board crashes in India

A London-bound passenger plane crashes shortly after takeoff in the city of Ahmedabad, India, with 242 passengers on board.

Footage of the deadly crash showed the Air India Boeing 787-8 flying low above a residential area before crashing and turning into a ball of flames.

According to reports from Sky News and Flightradar24, a flight tracking website, the plane lost communication. The location of the collision — the heavily populated residential neighbourhood of Meghani Nagar located outside Ahmedabad Airport in Gujarat — was identified by tall smoke columns. First responders rushed to the scene in a matter of seconds.

Indian Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu responded swiftly, saying, “I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action. Rescue teams have been mobilized. All efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families.”

According to the initial police report about the tragedy, there have been no survivors. However, as rescue teams continued their extensive search, Ahmedabad police commissioner, G.S. Malik said there could be survivors.

Among those who escaped death is 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national.

Unverified videos show Ramesh, who was believed to be in seat 11a, talking to the locals.

He was reported saying, “Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.”

Krishna, a doctor who hasn’t revealed his full name spoke of the tragedy. “One half of the plane crashed into the residential building where doctors lived with their families. The nose and front wheel landed on the canteen building where students were having lunch,” he said.

Gatwick Airport issued a statement: “We can confirm that flight AI171 that crashed on departure from Ahmedabad Airport today was due to land at London Gatwick at 18:25.”

Julian Bray, an aviation specialist, told the Daily Mail: “It’s a Boeing Dreamliner that has gone down—not certain whether they’ve managed to get anybody off the plane. If it has indeed crash-landed and they can deploy the chutes out, then they should be able to get people off in 90 seconds. I am aware there are fire appliances in attendance—this is a major incident. It is very disappointing that it is a Dreamliner as it is a state-of-the-art Boeing. We cannot rule out security issues. But this is all speculation on my part.”

Jason Knight, senior lecturer in fluid mechanics at the University of Portsmouth, shared his thoughts on the possible cause of the tragic crash. “It is very unlikely that the plane was overweight or carrying too much fuel. The aircraft is designed to be able to fly on one engine, so the most likely cause of the crash is a double engine failure. The most likely cause of a double engine failure is a bird strike.”

The investigation is ongoing.

Father fatally beat man who followed his daughter into restroom

Melvin Harris, a Phoenix father who fatally beat a man that allegedly tried to enter his daughter’s bathroom stall, was sentenced to eight years in prison.

The incident took place at a Phoenix convenience store on August 2, 2018.

Harris, who was initially charged with second-degree murder, pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

On the day of the tragic incident, Harris had taken his daughter at a QT convenience store near 19th and Dunlap Avenues in Phoenix and waited for her at the parking lot.

When she got out, she told her father that a man, later identified as Leon Armstrong, tried to enter her locked bathroom stall.

Security escorted Armstrong out, and while he was taken out of the store, Harris’ daughter pointed him out to her father who started a verbal confrontation.

However, things got out of control very quickly and Harris punched Armstrong in the face, knocking him down. After he fell on the ground, Harris continued beating him and stomped on him before leaving the scene.

As a result of the punches, Armstrong sustained severe brain injury and passed away a couple of days later.

Harris was arrested shortly after. He argued he acted to defend his daughter, but according to prosecutors, he crossed the line and used excessive force. Harris took a plea deal, admitting to manslaughter in exchange for dropping the murder charge that would have resulted in a lengthy prison sentence.

The case gained a nationwide attention with people taking sides. While many claimed Harris did what any father would do to protect their child, others said he shouldn’t have taken matters into his own hands.

At the same time, the case raised questions regarding violence and self-defence, as well as what security guards are expected to do in situations like these.

Trump $1,000 baby funds: Are you on the list?

President Donald Trump has launched what he dubs one of the most visionary policies of his presidency: “Trump Accounts,” a plan to invest $1,000 of government funds into stock market–linked accounts for all US babies born within a four-year window — from late 2024 to early 2029.

Top business leaders who will contribute to billions more to an initiative tied to “the big beautiful bill,” backed up the baby funds by Trump, the Guardian reports.

“For every US citizen born after December 31, 2024, before January 1, 2029, the federal government will make a one-time contribution of $1,000 into a tax-deferred account that will track the overall stock market,” Trump told the CEOs of major companies gathered at a White House roundtable.

Among the business owners and executives were Michael Dell, Dara Khosrowshahi of Uber, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs and Vladimir Tenev of Robinhood.

Speaking of their contributions, Trump praised them as “really the greatest business minds we have today” who are “committed to contributing millions of dollars to the Trump account.”

Further, President Trump said of the plan, “It’s a pro-family initiative that will help millions of Americans harness the strength of our economy to lift up the next generation, and they’ll really be getting a big jump on life.”

To qualify for the program, the baby must be a US-born citizen whose both parents have Social Security numbers.

Families and others can contribute to the accounts as long as the the total number doesn’t exceed $5,000 annually. There will only be exceptions for the non-profit organizations.

The funds, which the children won’t have access to until they turn 18, will be invested in a diversified, low-cost U.S. stock index fund or equivalent.

Once they turn 18, they will be able to use the money in purchasing a first home, higher education expenses, other qualifying post-secondary credentialing, or mall business or small farm expenses only.

Only when the account beneficiary turns 30 would they gain full control of all the funds for any purpose, according to Time.

House speaker Mike Johnson shared his thoughts on the program, saying,: “It’s a bold, transformative policy that gives every eligible American child a financial head start from day one. Republicans are proud to be the party we always have been. It supports life and families, prosperity and opportunity.”

“Trump Accounts” is just one component of his administration’s ambitious “big, beautiful bill” that intends to reshape American economic relationships.

Sad Obama family news

The Obama family suffered the loss of Marian Robinson, the mother of Michelle Obama.

Robinson, who lived in the White House during her son-in-law’s presidency and brought “normality” into the lives of her granddaughters, Sasha and Malia, died aged 86.

Her family said in a statement that she died “peacefully.”

“As a sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend to so many, she was beloved beyond words by countless others whose lives were improved by her presence,” the statement from the Obamas and the Robinsons said.

“She passed peacefully this morning, and right now, none of us are quite sure how exactly we’ll move on without her.”

The former first lady paid tribute to the woman she called “her rock.”

“My mom Marian Robinson was my rock, always there for whatever I needed. She was the same steady backstop for our entire family, and we are heartbroken to share she passed away today,” Michelle posted on X.

Barack Obama wrote, “There was and will be only one Marian Robinson. In our sadness, we are lifted up by the extraordinary gift of her life. And we will spend the rest of ours trying to live up to her example.”

The Bidens also shared their deepest condolences.

“We knew Mrs. Marian Robinson as a devoted mother and grandmother with a fierce and unconditional love of her family. With the blessing of friendship, we felt that love ourselves – with every quiet smile or warm embrace she shared with us,” Joe and Jill posted.

Marian Robinson was born Marian Lois Shields in 1937 in Chicago’s South Side. She married Fraser Robinson and the couple welcomed two children together, Michelle and Craig. Fraser passed away in 1991 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Robinson took an active role in her children’s education and supported them every step of the way.

During a May 7 episode on the podcast IMO that Michelle Obama co-hosts with her brother, she recalled her husband’s words after the passing of her mother; “You’re next up.”

“That’s sort of the darned thing about being a grown-up. When you lose your parents, you’re next up,” Michelle said about stepping into the family’s matriarchal role. “I guess if anything with mom’s loss, I thank God you’re my big brother and I have a husband who’s older.

“Because Barack was saying, ‘Well, you’re next up.’ And I was like, ‘I’m not really ready to be next up.’ I told him, ‘You’re next up. And Craig is next up. I delegate that power to you,’” she joked.

Elon Musk’s viral photo fuels speculation

Amid the feud and their recently troubled relationship, billionaire Elon Musk, who has recently resigned from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), suggested President Donald Trump should be impeached and replaced by JD Vance.

Musk responded to a post on the social platform X that he owns when user Ian Miles Cheong wrote: “President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him,” to what the Tesla owner responded with a “Yes.”

JD Vance was forced to break his silence on the matter, saying Trump “has done more than any person in my lifetime” and said that he was “proud” to stand beside him.

Further, Musk predicted that Trump’s tariffs would trigger economic turmoil.

“The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year,” Musk predicted.

Further, the SpaceX owner made a claim that the Epstein files have not been made public because the president is in them.

Following Musk’s accusations, a photo of him from not long ago wearing a cat cap that read, “Trump was right about everything” has now gone viral.

People were quick to note that the photo didn’t age well.

A Reddit user commented, “Aged like a fine milk.”

The disagreements between Trump and Musk started when Musk criticized Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which is a major tax and spending plan, calling it “disgusting” and blaming it for increasing the federal deficit.

Trump later claimed Musk turned on him due to proposed cuts to electric vehicle subsidies — a claim Musk has denied.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the ongoing dispute, describing Musk’s outburst as an “unfortunate episode.”

“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted,” Leavitt said in an interview with CNN.

“The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again.”

King Charles’ cancer is ‘incurable,’ royal insider claims

King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was disclosed to the public about 18 months ago, when he decided to share his health condition with the people.

At the time, he took some time off from his public duties to focus on treatment and recovery. It was his wife, Queen Camilla, and his son William who stepped in and filled royal engagements on the king’s behalf.

However, while the public learned of his diagnosis, details regarding the type of cancer King Charles has or its current stage have not been shared publicly.

What’s more, the palace isn’t expected to share such information any time soon.

As expected, there have been speculations going on, with people close to the King making comments on his exact health condition.

Reputable royal insider Camilla Tominey claimed in an interview with The Telegraph that sources close to the palace informed her King Charles’ cancer is “incurable.”

This information comes as a surprise especially since it seemed like the king has been feeling much better over the past few months.

The truth is, however, that even medical experts have a hard time drawing any conclusions regarding King Charles’ cancer as most details remain tightly under wraps.

The public can witness the king resuming most of his royal duties, including state visits to both Australia and Italy.

Tominey also claimed that a royal insider revealed that although “incurable,” King Charles’ cancer is currently under control.

“The talk now is that he may die ‘with’ cancer, but not ‘of’ cancer following a rigorous treatment program,” she told the publication.

As a result of the health issues he has been experiencing, King Charles and Queen Camilla are residing at Clarence House with no indications of possible move into Buckingham Palace.

Tominey also said that “tentative” plans are being made for the king’s 80th birthday in 2028.

Chilling simulation shows what actually happens to your body when you die

I’m certain I’m not the only one who has ever wondered what exactly happens to the human body when you die. It can be a haunting thought, but the sad reality is that each and every one of us will eventually reach that stage — the end of life.

If you are among those curious individuals, look no further because @Zackdfilms on YouTube has all the answers.

According to a simulation posted on his YouTube channel, in the first 24 hours of passing, the blood settles in the parts of the body that are closest to the ground.

This is what exactly happens to the human body when you die.
YouTube/zackdfilms

Maybe you have noticed that when a deceased person is placed in a coffin lying on its back, there are purple and red patches at their back – a discoloration known as livor mortis. This is because the blood has settled at those part due to gravity.

Weeks after death, most of the deceased person’s internal organs waste away due to breaking down because of bacteria and enzymes.

Before this stage takes place, gas bloats the body.

This is what exactly happens to the human body when you die.
YouTube/zackdfilms

As explained in the chilling video, “After a few weeks, all of the organs and soft tissue, including your eyes, liquify and your skin starts to fall off.”

What most of those who have seen the simulation found to be the creepiest part of the process is that the eyeballs also turn into liquid and melt away.

According to @Zackdfilms, the full decomposition of the body takes years, after which only the bones remain.

A body in a coffin usually starts decomposing within a year, according to Daniel Wescott, director of the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State University, but it may take up to a decade for it to fully “skeletonize.”

Nicholas Passalacqua, an associate professor at the Forensic Osteology Research Station at Western Carolina University, explains that this process likely takes five years in case the body is buried without a coffin, according to Live Science.

Surgeon explains why bowel cancer is striking healthy 39-year-old woman — and others like her

The number of people under the age of 50 diagnosed with bowel cancer has increased in recent years and researchers believe it has a lot to do with shift in environmental, lifestyle, or possibly genetic factors.

Historically, this form of cancer was typical for the older population, but as more and more young people are diagnosed with it, researchers are rethinking screening recommendations and are looking for different treatment approaches.

Danni Duncan, a 39-year-old woman working as a health and fitness coach, was diagnosed with bowel cancer and underwent a procedure during which her tumor has been removed along with her appendix and part of her intestine.

She underwent the surgery just ten days following her diagnosis.

Taking to Instagram, where she has over 52,000 followers, she explained that she experienced dizziness and exhaustion but didn’t pay much attention until she underwent a colonoscopy for feeling “bloated.”

Instagram/@thefigure_

The results showed the presence of a 2cm malignant tumour at the top of her bowel.

What shocked many was that Danni had been leading a very healthy lifestyle.

“I am the freaking healthiest person I know, I do more things for my health than anyone I know,” she said in a social media post. “It’s not genetic, it’s obviously not lifestyle. The last four years I have eaten 80-90 per cent whole foods, we use non toxic products at home, I don’t drink much alcohol, exercise every day and eat a high fibre diet.”

Instagram/@thefigure_

She has also shared her surgeon’s thoughts on why someone as healthy as her would get affected by this form of cancer.

“Bowel cancer takes 15 to 20 years to grow, from when it’s first cell. Well, I was born in 1985. When I was in the surgeon’s appointment on Monday, he said something so interesting,” she explained.

“He said, ‘This is what’s happened – chemicals in your foods, carcinogens through red meat, burnt, barbecued, bacon, ham – they are environmental factors which we got exposed to in the 90s and we didn’t know the long-term effects until now’.”

Since learning this, Danni felt the urge to share the information with her followers.

“It does matter what you feed your kids,” the Melbourne mom continued. “Stop feeding your kids things that are not good for them, that are processed, that are full of s***.

“You might think they’re fine, they’re fine now – but what are you really doing to your kids? What detriment are you doing to your kids later on, without even realising it?”

Danni’s cancer has been stage 2, but a more aggressive form of it. It has since spread to lymph channel, meaning it is on its way to her lymph nodes.

The treatment for stage 2 of this form of cancer includes both surgery and chemotheraphy.
