Hearing of stories of random strangers helping those in need is something that deeply touches our hearts and make us believe that humanity isn’t dead after all. Whenever we stumble upon such stories we somehow feel like we should take the time and also lend a helping hand to someone who’s experiencing tough times. Whether it is paying for someone’s food, giving a homeless person some money, or simply giving a lift to your neighbor whose car broke down, doing good never gets out of style and that’s what makes the world go round.
The latest story that restores our faith in humanity comes from a woman who witnessed an amazing act of kindness between a young girl and an old man who was short on money. The touching scene took place at Walgreen.
The old man was at the check-out of the pharmacy and the woman who shares his story could overhear the conversation between the two.
The elderly was trying to get three months worth of medication which cost $170. Unfortunately, that was more money than what the man had in his pockets. Not being able to afford the three months supply, he opted for a month worth of medication instead.
Another young lady who happened to witness the whole thing couldn’t let the old man leave the place without his much needed medication so she decided to pay for it.
The woman who shares the story was deeply touched by the young girl’s kindness. That was something that mustn’t go unnoticed.
“OKAY, I just saw the most amazing thing today. I was waiting for my prescription at Walgreen, and I noticed this man is picking up his medicines.. He is asking how much they are, and starting to get nervous about the price. The total was $170 and the pharmacist asked if he would rather only get one month of his medicines instead of 3.
THIS lady next to me, walks up to them and says: NO, he is getting all three months and pays for his bill. I was walking out of there with tears in my eyes, what an amazing woman…”
This lovely story went viral in the blink of an eye, and all for the right reasons. To inspire others to follow this girl’s example and become someone’s angels.
Another person that goes by the name Joaniemansoosie shared their story on Reddit, saying:
“I had a similar situation. I had groceries and miscalculated. I had 60.00 on me and they rang up to 90. So, I had to put things back( which is always embarrassing, especially when someone’s waiting on you.) The lady behind me saw my embarrassment and said ‘Go ahead and put your things back, I’d like to pay for them.’ I said, ‘Oh, no, that’s okay, but thank you!’
So I paid for what I had and left. She follows me out to the parking lot with the items I had put back in a sack. She wants me to have them. I cry and hug her and thank her. When I get home, there’s a 100.00 bill in the sack. The amount of joy I received from this act of kindness made my day, my week, my year. I hope I can one day do this for someone.”
There isn’t something more fulfilling than the hug, or just an honest “thank you” from the person we helped. We never know what battles people are fighting, and what problems or obstacles they are facing, that’s why it’s very important to show kindness to everyone, whenever we can. We can never know the impact our good deed can have on someone’s life and how many people our behavior will inspire. Because no matter how big or small, every act of kindness goes a long way.
