House passes bill preventing presidents from halting oil drilling without congressional approval

Lawmakers passed the “Protecting American Energy Production Act” that prohibits the president from “declaring a moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing unless Congress authorizes the moratorium,” Fox News reported.

Republican House members, 226 in total, voted in favor to pass the bill unanimously while 118 Democrats voted against the legislation.

The bill is a direct reaction to actions by the Biden administration that placed restrictions on oil and gas drilling and related activities.

The focus is to limit executive power over oil drilling regulations. It sets a new standard for energy policy decisions.

The legislation was introduced by Rep. August Pfluger of Texas who criticized the previous administration, highlighting the negative impact of Biden’s policies on the American energy sector.

He referred to Biden’s ban on oil and gas drilling across roughly 625 million acres of coastal and offshore waters as to a move that undermines American energy security.

“When President Biden took office, his administration began imposing restrictions that many view as a direct attack on American energy production,” Pfluger stated after the bill’s passage. 

“My legislation that passed today is a necessary first step in reversing Biden’s war on energy by preventing the federal government from banning the use of hydraulic fracturing,” he said. 

If passed into law, the bill will play a key role in shaping how future administrations approach energy policy. This means that even future presidents must go through the legislative process, prompting a wider discussion on the matter, if they want to make changes.

Democrats on the other hand believe that the bill will limit the president’s ability to act decisively during environmental emergencies. 

During the presidential campaign, Donald Trump made it his mission to harness domestically produced energy as part of his “drill, baby, drill” agenda.

When they experience pain, some people try to ignore it and don’t seek medical assistance for so long that they even get used to living with it. However, it is of crucial importance that any pain should be addressed as soon as possible, especially if it proceeds for a longer period of time.

What we should be aware of is that our body warns us when something isn’t right, we just need to listen to it.

Below are some types of pain that may seem minor but can eventually cause more trouble if left unchecked.

1 Painful Urination

If you experience pain while urinating and you feel the urge to urinate more often than usual or suddenly and more urgently than usual, it can be a sign of a urinary tract infection. These infections are mostly caused by bacteria from poo entering the urinary tract, but they can also be a result of kidney stones, issues with the prostate at men, urinary catheters, weakened immune system, and not drinking enough fluids, among the rest.

2 Leg Pain with Swelling

Throbbing pain in your thigh or lower leg accompanied with swelling, redness and warmth may be a sign of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). This can lead to a more serious condition known as pulmonary embolism, when a blood cloth breaks off and goes to the lungs. This if one of the types of pain that you should address promptly.

3 Throat Pain

When swallowing feels like you’re gargling sand, it’s time to take action.

While this type of pain may refer to tonsil stones or strep throat, two conditions treated easily, if you left it unchecked it can lead to complications. In case you experience swelling, fever, or your voice is more croaky than normal consult a healthcare provider.

4 Chest Pain

Chest pain refers to any pain felt in the chest area – from the shoulders to the bottom of the ribs. This pain can sometimes be a symptom of a heart attack or another heart condition, especially when it is accompanied with shortness of breath, dizziness, or cold sweats.

5 Severe Headache

Everybody has experienced headache at some point in their life. While some headaches can be caused by stress, other types of pain in the head may be related to more serious conditions such as hemorrhagic stroke, aneurysm, meningitis, and migraine, among the rest. If the headaches is accompanied by other symptoms, such as nauseousness, confusion, or seeing spots, maybe it’s time to pay the doctor a visit.

6 Sharp Lower Back Pain

According to Healthline, “A stabbing pain in the lower right back can have many causes, such as endometriosis in females, prostatitis in males, or things like muscle strain or sciatica.”

It can also be a result of kidney stones, herniated disk, or an injury from sports of lifting heavy objects.

If the pain doesn’t go in a few days, consult a doctor.

7 Pelvic Pain

The most common causes of pelvic pain in women are period pain, endometriosis, or an ovarian cyst. In some cases, this pain can be related to more serious conditions such as ectopic pregnancy, womb cancer, or ovarian cancer.

In men, pelvic pain is mostly a result of prostatitis, a condition affecting the prostate.

Our grandma lived in an old trailer for many years

My darling grandma spent her days living in an old trailer. I’m ashamed to admit it, but my husband seemed to be excited by the thought of her passing, thinking we would inherit millions. I knew my grandma didn’t have that amount of money, but rumors had it she had, and my husband couldn’t wait that money to become ours.

But, my sweet grandma knew better than that.

When she passed away, we went to the lawyers office for the reading of her will, and it turned out my grandma didn’t even own the old trailer. She had sold it to an old friend who lived across the street years prior, but still got to live there. She then used the money to travel. Not long journeys, but more like weekend getaways to nice hotels and places she had never been to before.

Needless to say, my husband Bernard was outraged.

“But where is her money? Any hidden fortune?” he kept asking the lawyer, who assured him over and over again that there was no money.

My grandma left me a letter. The lawyer said she wanted me to read it in private. I decided to take it home, and read it in peace. My husband reminded me a thousand times that if there something about money there that it belonged to the both of us since we were married.

Until that point, I wasn’t aware how greedy Bernard was. For him, it was all about money.

My grandma’s letter brought teras to my eyes. In it, she shared her wisdom with me again. She wrote that it wasn’t the material things that matter, but the peace a person finds in their life. She reminded me that I was a caring person, urging me to never forget that greed can only poison people.

Further, my grandma wrote I should go to the old oak tree behind the trailer and dig a bit because there was one final gift for me there. She said it wasn’t a hidden treasure, but something she knew I would cherish.

The following day, Bernard and I headed to the old oak tree. There, we found a bunch of old photographs of my grandma, her recipe book, and a key. My grandma’s friend, Erna, told us it was of an old cottage by the lake about thirty miles from there. It turned out my grandma spent a lot of her time there.

Bernard was rushing me to get to the cottage as soon as possible. When we finally arrived, we realized it was a tiny space, a two-bedroom log cabin-like structure with creaky floors and a patch of land out back leading to a small, sparkling lake.

The first thing Bernard said was, “How much do you think we can sell this for?”

Again, for him, it was all about money.

“Why do you think I would sell it?” I asked him, “This belonged to the most special person I knew, and I’m not selling it for any money in the world.”

It was obvious he was angry at me.

As days passed by, I started spending more time at the cottage. I repainted it and renovate it a bit. Eventually, I turned it into a small bed-and-breakfast with Erna’s help.

I wanted other people to enjoy the quiet and peace that place offered.

My grandma taught me that wealth is not measured in dollars but in the love we share.

As of Bernard, I was aware my marriage to him was coming to an end when he couldn’t contain his excitement over my grandma’s passing, thinking he would become an over-night millionaire.

I didn’t need a greedy person like him by mi side.

Moving forward wasn’t easy, but I have finally found my sanctuary and my peace.

Donald Trump makes shocking accusation about who left cocaine in the White House

President Donald Trump spoke of the infamous incident about the cocaine bag left in the White House in 2023, saying the person behind it could easily be identified based on fingerprint evidence, but the traces have been wiped clean.

On Thursday afternoon, during an interview at the White House, The Spectator‘s Ben Domenech asked the president, “So… who actually left the cocaine in the White House?” Trump was quick to answer, “Well, either Joe or Hunter. Could be Joe, too.” 

The cocaine bag in question was discovered by the secret services in a storage locker near the entrance to the White House’s West Wing back in July 2, 2023.

The investigation didn’t find any suspects.

“That was such a terrible thing because, you know, those bins are very loaded up with… they’re not clean, and they have hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” Trump said of the discovery. “And when they went to look at it, it was absolutely stone cold, wiped dry. You know that, right?”

According to the president, that particular locker where the drug was found was cleaned with “the strongest form of alcohol.”

“By the way, and I have to tell you, I think I’m going to look into that because it was … bad stuff happened there,” he added.

At the time of the incident, the Secret Service revealed the bag of cocaine was “subjected to advanced fingerprint and DNA analysis.” However, the lab results “did not develop latent fingerprints and insufficient DNA was present for investigative comparisons.”

Many are confused by Trump’s accusations of the Bidens because at the time the cocaine bag was discovered, they were not staying at the White House but at presidential retreat Camp David in Maryland.

“The Biden family was not here,” former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a July 2023 press conference. “They were not here Friday. They were not here Saturday or Sunday.” She added: They were not even here Monday. They came back on Tuesday. Initially, it was believed that the bag of white powder was anthrax, but it was soon determined it was drugs.

My 6-year-old son stayed with my MIL for a week

I had my son when I was eighteen. Although I was rather young, he became my world. His father left us the moment he learned I was expecting so I was left to raise him all by myself.

And then, I met Ethan. He became an important part of my and Liam’s life.

I was over the moon whenever I saw how Ethan treated my baby, as though he was his biological father. That’s when I knew Ethan was the one.

Soon after, we tied the knot.

Some time after our wedding, we decided to go to the so much-anticipated honeymoon. Ethan said that while we were away, his mother, Angela, would take care of Liam.

Honestly, I didn’t feel at ease leaving my son with her, but Ethan insisted. He assured me his mother loved my son, and I finally agreed.

However, four days into our trip, I received a call from Liam, who was 6 at the time.

“Mom, don’t do this to me,” he choked out. My heart stopped. “What do you mean, honey? Are you okay?”

That’s when he told me that my MIL told him I would give him away if he doesn’t behave.

He was scared, thinking I left him for good.

I tried to explain to him it wasn’t going to happen, but Liam was disturbed and couldn’t stop crying.

It didn’t take long before I asked Ethan to pack. We were returning home.

When I told him what had happened, he refused to believe that his mom would ever do such a thing.

But Liam was telling the truth. When we confronted Angela, she said that fear built character, so what if she threatened my son that I was going to give him up for adoption.

She didn’t understand how her words impacted my son in a negative way.

I was done with that woman. I took Liam and brought him home.

Ethan was also mad at his mom, who kept yelling at us both that we weren’t good parents.

He refused to sleep alone for months, but now he’s doing great. He knows I am here to stay, always and forever.

Before I said ‘I do’ my son yelled, ‘Dad, wait! Look at her shoulder!’

Losing my wife was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. She was my rock, my world, my everything… and then, suddenly, she was gone, leaving me to take care for our son all by myself.

Four years after her sudden passing, I met someone.

Isabella was a very special woman. Not only she loved me unconditionally, but she also accepted my son, Jayden, as her own.

One day, I told Jayden that my relationship with Isabella was serious, and he said he was happy for me, giving me his blessing to marry her.

Life felt complete again, until the day of our wedding, when things changed.

Standing at the altar, ready to say “I do,” my son suddenly yelled, “Dad, wait! Look at her shoulder!”

His words echoed through the church. Suddenly, all eyes were on Jayden.

“What is going on?” I asked quietly.

Jayden, who was still very young, approached me and said, “Dad, Isabella’s mark on her shoulder is exactly like same with Ava’s, a girl that used to study at my school. It is also exactly on the same spot.”

“Oh, Jayden” I said, “anyone can have a birthmark like that.”

“But dad, I read that these things run in the family.”

Before I could dismiss Jayden’s words as nonsense, I noticed Isabella crying.

The minister realized something was wrong so he suggested we take a brief recess.

While everyone’s eyes were on us, Isabella leaned towards me and said, “Mark, I have a confession to make.”

Her words sent chills down my spine. I couldn’t possibly guess what was going on.

“You see, when I was still very young, I gave birth to a baby daughter. But I couldn’t keep her, so I gave her up for adoption,” Isabella said while trying to hold her tears from running down her face.

As I tried to realize what she was saying, she added, “Do you think this girl could be mine?”

Isabella was looking at me with eyes full of hope.

I was so confused that I didn’t say a word.

At that moment, the priest asked if we could proceed, and I said yes. But once the ceremony was over, I demanded answers.

How could Isabella keep something so huge a secret. I was angry, but at the same time, I understood her reasons. She never really thought that she could see her girl again, and there she was, learning of someone who shared the same birthmark.

The days that followed were filled with long conversations and attempts to rebuild our trust. And then, the three of us, made it a mission to find Isabella’s daughter.

The documents of her adoption were confidential, and the only trace we had was that the daughter could be the girl, Ava, that Jayson once knew.

It took a lot of time, but we were eventually able to locate Ava and her family.

We contacted her adoptive parents, who were extremely kind people and agreed to meet with us.

Ava was aware she was adopted, and she knew that her mom was forced to leave her due to her young age. She was willing to forgive Isabella.

While Ava stayed with her family, she also remained close to us. She even visits sometimes.

If it wasn’t for Jayden, who yelled at “Look at her shoulder” during one of the happiest days of my life, Isabella and Ava wouldn’t meet.

Life is truly unpredictable.

911 call connected to the death of Gene Hackman released

The circumstances surrounding the deaths of Hollywood legend Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, whose bodies were found in separate rooms in their Santa Fe, New Mexico mansion, are still being investigated.

Hackman’s daughter, Elizabeth, was the first to suspect the cause of death could be gas leak, although, according to her, the mansion where her dad and his wife resided was relatively new.

The Santa Fe Fire Department and New Mexico Gas Company found no apparent signs of a carbon monoxide leak, but the medical examiner is performing tests, including checking for the presence of the toxic gas.

Following the autopsy, it was reported that “Initial findings noted no external trauma to either individual.”

The call to 911 was made from the actor’s estate by an individual who identified himself as a caretaker. According to law enforcement, the call was made just before 2 p.m.

CNN obtained the 911 audio in the actor’s death.

According to it, the caretaker, who sounded emotional, said they couldn’t enter the home. However, they were able to see two unconscious bodies through the window.

“No, dude, they’re not moving. Just send somebody out here really quick,” the caretaker told the dispatcher.

The newest release from the sheriff’s office stated that it “remains an open investigation.”

As per TMZ, a Santa Fe detective who sought a search warrant believed “the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation because the reporting party found the front door of the residence unsecured and opened.”

At the time being, the official autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.

“The autopsy is going to be key, and the toxicology,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said.

Hackman’s daughter, Leslie, said that despite his age, 95, her father was in a good physical condition. “He liked to do Pilates and yoga, and he was continuing to do that several times a week. So he was in good health.”

She added that despite she hadn’t seen her father and his wife and hadn’t contacted them for a couple of months, they were very close.

Gene Hackman is considered a Hollywood legend.

He had his acting debut in the 1961 movie Mad Dog Coll, but it took a decade before he got his big breakthrough role.

Hackman was nominated for an Academy award for his role in Bonnie & Clyde in 1968, and for I Never Sang for My Father in 1971.

He went on two receive two Oscars for the 1972 film The French Connection, and the 1993 film Unforgiven.

Hackman’s colleagues shared their tributes. “There was no finer actor than Gene. Intense and instinctive. Never a false note. He was also a dear friend whom I will miss very much,” actor Clint Eastwood said in a statement.

“One of the personal highlights of my career was bringing the French Film Gardé a Vue (Under Suspicion) to life with the incredibly gifted Gene Hackman. And of course… Unforgiven. Rest in peace, my friend,” Morgan Freeman posted on Instagram.

Gene Hackman and wife had been ‘dead for some time,’ says warrant

Two-time Oscar winner Gene Hackman, 95, and wife Betsy Arakawa, 63, could have been dead for quite some time when authorities discovered their deceased bodies in separate rooms in their Santa Fe mansion.

One of the couple’s dogs was also found dead.

Hackman’s daughter, Elizabeth, shared her grief over her dad’s tragic passing. Speaking to TMZ, she said, “The house is fairly modern, built in 2000, but we don’t know if there were any issues with gas leaks or if there were any recent service calls to the property.”

Since gas leak was ruled out, investigators are still scratching their heads over the possible cause of death of the Hollywood icon, his wife, and their dog.

According to the Associated Press, Hackman’s body was found in a mudroom, while Arakawa’s was in a bathroom next to a space heater.

While the Santa Fe sheriff’s office spokesperson, Denise Avila, said there was no indication of foul play, detectives noted in a search warrant affidavit that the deaths were “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation.”

As stated in the publication, pills were scattered in the bathroom.

Daily Mail reported that the bodies of Hackman and his wife were partially mummified.

According to officials, it would take around three months for the toxicology report to come out.

“We’re trying to put together a timeline of when the decedents were last seen or spoken to,” Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza told Today. He said it was “a challenge” because they were “very private individuals and a private family.”

He added: “Just based on their body and other evidence on the body, it appears [they had been deceased for] several days and possibly even up to a couple weeks.”

“Akala was sneaked out of the hotel via one of Angelina’s cars on Friday — a couple of hours before the BFI film premiere for her new movie.

Trump signed a new executive order aimed at healthcare pricing

The most recent executive order President Donald Trump has signed aims at improving price transparency on healthcare costs. He plans to do so by directing federal agencies to enforce a 2019 order he signed during his first term.

The order states that health care providers must disclose “actual prices of items and services, not estimates.”

A recent report from PatientRightsAdvocate.org, a non-profit organization, revealed that only 21.1 percent of the hospitals it reviewed fully complied with the order Trump signed during his first term.

“Hospitals and health plans were not adequately held to account when their price transparency data was incomplete or not even posted at all,” Trump wrote in his executive order. “The Biden Administration failed to take sufficient steps to fully enforce my Administration’s requirement that would end the opaque nature of drug prices by ensuring health plans publicly post the true prices they pay for prescription drugs.”

Further, Trump aims “to put patients first and ensure they have the information they need to make well-informed healthcare decisions.”

Speaking of the executive order, the president said, “It is one of the biggest things that can happen to reducing cost and healthcare.

“It takes a little while to kick in but Biden ended it immediately upon coming in which was a terrible travesty in my opinion.

“We are going to start up and we have even made it stronger by a couple of major factors.

He added that it allows people to go out and negotiate prices. “You can’t even talk about it when you visit a hospital and see a doctor.”

“This allows you to go out and talk about it and it is actually one of the biggest… there are a couple of people that go back a long way that feel that there are real pros of this, this is the biggest thing you can do for cutting prices.”

Further, he said he’s well aware that this order will not suit hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry, but it will certainly suit those that receive the medical care.

When Trump signed the initial executive order back in 2019, hospital groups not only opposed it, but they also challenged it at court.

They claimed the order violated their First Amendment free speech rights, and undermined competition. The court rejected the claim.

Gene Hackman’s daughter reveals what she thinks killed her father

Gene Hackman’s daughter, Leslie, opened up about her dad’s passing and revealed what could be the reason that led to the tragedy that shook the world.

Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, were found dead in their Santa Fe home on Wednesday, although the exact time of their passing is not known. One of their dogs was also found dead alongside the couple.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Heckman’s daughter revealed that despite being close to her father, it’s been “a few months” since she had last seen or heard her father.

According to her, “Everything was normal and everything was good” and “despite his age, he was in very good physical condition.” Leslie also told the publication that “He liked to do Pilates and yoga, and he was continuing to do that several times a week. So he was in good health.”

Leslie and her sister Elizabeth assume that their dad and their stepmother died by inhaling toxic fumes due to a carbon monoxide leak.

“The house is fairly modern, built in 2000,” Elizabeth shared with TMZ, “but we don’t know if there were any issues with gas leaks or if there were any recent service calls to the property.”

Authorities answered to a call by a concerned neighbor who was performing a welfare check on the property.

Deputies arrived at the scene along with members of the fire department who helped ensure there were no lingering toxic fumes that could endanger anyone else.

Elizabeth said that following her father’s retirement, he and wife Betsy led a quiet life. She also revealed that Hackman’s favorite movie was The French Connection, a role that cemented his place on the list of Hollywood icons.

It was back in 2004 that Hackman revealed he would no longer be making films, sharing with Larry King that he had no productions lined up for the future.

Gene Hackman was a two-times Oscar winner who could play any role.

Melania Trump prepared to ‘fiercely’ defend son Barron

While his parents headed to the White House with his father holding office for the second time, Barron Trump, the youngest son of the business mogul, opted to continue his studies in New York.

Barron is currently attending Stern Business School at New York University, but unlike most of his classmates who are staying on campus, he’s residing at Trump Tower.

“Living in a dorm in a college town isn’t in the stars for him at this point,” a source told People. “Barron already has his own political ideas. It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation.”

The source added that she will do everything in her power to support her son’s well-being.

“Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it’s better to be around him as much as possible,” that source said. “I see that continuing.”

“Melania worries about the hate in the country and how it falls on her son, who is innocent of any of this,” the source added. “She is and has been a good sounding board for him. They talk about life as it is and how they are in the spotlight. She tries to normalize his life. If that is even possible.”

“She wants to encourage him to make friends”

“Any child in the world spotlight like this would be lucky to have a parent so willing to give her time to help keep his life running smoothly,” a Palm Beach source told the outlet.

Speaking of his son’s choice of university, President Trump said, “It’s a very high-quality place. He liked it. He liked the school. We liked NYU. I’ve known NYU for a long time, but it’s one of the highest-rated schools.

“I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that,” Trump continued. “We went for Stern. He’s a very high-aptitude child, but he’s no longer a child. He’s just passed into something beyond childhood, he’s doing great.”

While Melania now resides in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, it was reported that she would be splitting her time between Washington DC, Florida, and New York.

In fact, it is expected that she spends time with her son, whom she’s very close to.

A source close to the family spoke to People, describing the First Lady as “very protective” of her only child.

“Melania’s friends are her family members. She is a doting mother to Barron and very protective of him. This is nothing new,” the source said, adding that Barron always has been a “first priority.”

“She has carte blanche – she can be as active in the East Wing or as inactive as she cares to be,” Kate Bennett, author of Free, Melania, told CNN.

Bennett added that unlike other first ladies, Melania didn’t use the period of the last four years to build hew own platform and brand.

“The missed opportunity of this period between her tenure in the White House has been the lack of a continuing platform or policy agenda that most first ladies build on.”

However, no matter how much she tried to protect him and keep him out of the spotlight, being the son of the president of the country make people interested in Barron’s private life.

Oscar winner Gene Hackman and wife found dead in Santa Fe home

Gene Hackman, a two-time Oscar winner, and wife Betsy Arakawa both found dead in their $3.8million Santa Fe home.

The couple, who had been married since 1991, were found on Wednesday morning along with their dog, but according to the police, the exact time of their passing remains unknown. The office of Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said no foul play is suspected at this point.

The cause of death is unknown.

“All I can say is that we’re in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search warrant,” the sheriff told the Santa Fe New Mexican. According to the publication, the statement was released before the authorities had positively identified the couple. “I want to assure the community and neighborhood that there’s no immediate danger to anyone.”

Over the course of his brilliant Hollywood career, Gene Hackman starred in over 70 movies. He won multiple awards, including the coveted Oscar for Best Actor in The French Connection as well as Best Supporting Actor for his role as Little Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven.

Indeed, he was considered to be one of the finest actors of his generation, playing both villains and heroes, in comedies, dramas, and action films. He could literally play every role there was.

Gene Hackman stepped out from the limelight some 20 years ago, retiring from the world of film.

Back in 2009, he told Empire, “The straw that broke the camel’s back was actually a stress test that I took in New York.

“The doctor advised me that my heart wasn’t in the kind of shape that I should be putting it under any stress.”

Instead, he turned to fishing, painting, and writing.

Back in March 2024, a photo of the actor and his wife was posted online. It was a rare occasion of the two being spotted out since his retiring.

As tributes came pouring in, Star Trek actor George Takei posted on X that “we have lost one of the true giants of the screen”.

“Gene Hackman could play anyone, and you could feel a whole life behind it,” he wrote. “He could be everyone and no one, a towering presence or an everyday Joe. That’s how powerful an actor he was. He will be missed, but his work will live on forever.”

At the time of their passing, Gene Hackman and his wife were 95 and 63 respectively.

Man ate a slug after a dare, resulting in a tragic outcome

A silly dare among a group of friends turned into a tragedy that left a young man paralyzed and then claimed his life.

When 19-year-old Sam Ballard gulped a slug after being dared by his friends, he never assumed his life would change for the worse.

Shortly after the stunt, Ballard complained of leg pain, which doctors believed to be a multiple sclerosis, a disease his father suffered from. However, it was later determined that the young man contracted rat lungworm, a parasitic infection found in rodents that can also infect snails and slugs through the larvae in their feces.

It didn’t take long before the promising rugby player lost the ability to walk.

Speaking of the day Ballard made the tragic choice to eat that slug, one of his friends, Jimmy Galvin, recalled, “We were sitting, having a bit of a red wine appreciation night, trying to act as grown-ups and a slug came crawling across. The conversation came, ‘should I eat it?’ [and] off Sam went.”

Sadly, the infection affected Ballard’s brain. He contracted meningitis and was left in coma for 420 days. When he finally woke up, doctors determined he had brain damage.

Over the years following the incident, he did regain some use of his limbs but still needed to be fed.

The disease hadn’t affected his mental abilities, however.

“He’s in there, 100%,” Galvin told The Sunday Project. “I apologized to Sam about everything that happened that night in the backyard. And he just started bawling his eyes out. I know he’s there.”

Sadly, Sam Ballard passed away eight years after gulping the snail and contracting the awful disease.

His obituary read: “Sam was a true battler and hero to his younger brother Joshua and sister Melanie. He had an army of friends and family who have loved and cared for him for which he was truly grateful.

“His last days were the happiest and he was surrounded by a room full of love.”

Could This New Virus ‘Threaten All of Mankind’? Experts Are Concerned

I was stunned to read that scientists who once predicted COVID are now warning about a fresh pathogen—and, according to them, this new virus threatens all of mankind. Traces of what’s being called the “Camp Hill virus” were detected in shrews in Alabama, raising eyebrows because it’s closely related to Nipah and Hendra—viruses with mortality rates around 70% in people.

The Strange Discovery in Alabama

Researchers stumbled upon the Camp Hill virus while examining the frozen organs of shrews collected back in 2021. Spotting a henipavirus (the family that includes Nipah) in North America is unusual enough, but the real worry is that we may have similar viruses lurking undetected. Nipah, for instance, can lead to severe respiratory problems, seizures, and inflammation of the brain, with a death rate that’s downright alarming. So, experts can’t help but take notice.

Are Humans at Risk?

It’s important not to panic yet. According to lead researcher Rhys Parry, there’s no confirmed human infection from the Camp Hill virus so far, and the chances remain unclear. Still, that caution hasn’t stopped others from voicing concern. Dr. David Dyjack of the National Environment Health Association pointed out that if the virus were to jump to humans—and cause kidney damage akin to what’s been observed in animals—this new virus threatens all of mankind at a potentially massive scale.

Time for Caution

We’re all understandably on edge since living through the chaos of COVID. Whether it’s HMPV or another newcomer, public health professionals have learned that staying ahead of emerging pathogens is crucial. While the Camp Hill virus may never reach pandemic status, the potential link to high-mortality cousins is enough for many to call for extra vigilance. After all, as Dyjack himself puts it, if a virus with a 70% fatality rate found an efficient way to spread among humans, that could mean very big trouble. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen—but in the meantime, let’s not ignore early warning signs of a new virus threatens all of mankind scenario.

Are eggs with blood spots safe for consumption?

If eggs are an essential part of your diet, it’s likely that you’ve come across an egg with blood spots in it.

The question that raises is whether these eggs are safe to eat, and according to many, they are.

Of course, they need to be properly cooked.

The blood spots are totally harmless, but if you still have doubts about using them in your cooking, you can simply use a knife or another object to remove the spots before using the egg.

The egg whites can also sometimes come with small brown meat spots that are in fact tiny tissue fragments picked up as the egg moves through the oviduct.

These spots, just like the blood spots, pose no danger.

However, if an egg appears to be pinkish or greenish in color, it may indicate the presence of harmful bacteria. These eggs should not be consumed.

Store bought eggs, as opposed those bought directly from farmers, are less likely to have blood spots because the grading process usually finds these spots and removes these eggs from the lineup. Farmers on the other hand, don’t have this technology.

Many people will opt not to consume an egg containing blood spots because they believe the blood is a result of egg fertilization. But this isn’t the case. The spots actually happen due to the rupturing of tiny blood vessels in the hen’s ovaries or oviduct.

It’s good to know that store bought eggs are best kept in the fridge, while those from the farmer’s market can be kept at room temperature.

Avoid consuming eggs with cracked shells.

While cooking, always wash your hands before handling eggs. Make sure the eggs are cooked well as having them raw raise the chances of contracting salmonella. In case a recipe asks for raw eggs to be used, make sure you pasteurize them before adding them. This way, you reduce the chances of salmonella and other bacteria.

Michelle Trachtenberg, ‘Gossip Girl’ and ‘Buffy’ actress, found dead at 39

Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress best known for her roles in Gossip Girls and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who rose to fame as a child star in the 1990s and 2000s, was found dead at 39, as per CBS News.

According to the publication, the New York Police Department responded to a 911 call at 8:01 a.m. local time Wednesday morning. First responders found her unresponsive in her Manhattan home. No foul play is suspected.

“Criminality is not suspected. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death,” the statement by the NYPD said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.

A family representative confirmed the news of Trachtenberg’s passing and asked for privacy during this time of grief.

As reported by ABC News, the actress had recently underwent a liver transplant and may have experienced complications from the procedure. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of dead.

Michelle Trachtenberg was a child star who started her acting her career at the age of nine years old. She first appeared on the Nickelodeon television series The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

She received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Other films she starred in include EuroTrip, Ice Princess, Killing Kennedy, and Sister Cities.

Fans and colleagues are paying their tributes on the social media, describing Trachtenberg’s sudden loss as heart-breaking and devastating.

“I loved her very much. She struggled the last few years. I wish I could have helped,” US comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who starred alongside Trachtenberg in her Harriet the Spy debut posted.

“So sad to hear of the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg. Sending prayers,” Ed Westwick wrote.

In a recent post on the social media, Trachtenberg posted a throwback photo of her and co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. She captioned it, “Slay all day! Always loved this twinning photo of us! #buffy #dawn #sister #womancrushwednesday.”

Her final post on Instagram was another throwback picture of her attending the Killing Kennedy premiere at the Saban Theatre on November 4, 2013 in Beverly Hills. 

Prior to her sudden passing, Michelle Trachtenberg appeared nostalgic and was very active on the social media.

Senator’s sharp reply after Elon Musk demands to know what she ‘got done last week’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk seems to be having “his plate full” running the Department of Government Efficiency.

When he was appointed the head of DOGE, the Tesla and Space X owner announced cutting some $2 trillion off government spending. His latest move towards this goal includes a request to stuffers to send a five-point email explaining what they’d accomplished in the past week.

Federal staff were given until February 24 to respond to the quest. In his post on X, Musk added: “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”

However, the Department of Justice advised the recipients of the email not to respond “due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the Department’s work”, a source said.

Several other agencies did the same, including The Department of Defense. FBI Director Kash Patel gave his employees similar directive.

Democratic senator Tina Smith called out Elon Musk for this request to roughly 2.4million people employed by the federal government.

Taking to X, a social media site owned by Musk, Senator Smith posted a screenshot of Musk’s email and wrote: “This is the ultimate d**k boss move from Musk – except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a d**k.”

In a separate post she added: “I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss – there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, ‘Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else.’ I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire a**hole bosses.”

Musk was quick to respond to Smith’s post, writing, “What did you get done last week?”

Smith replied: “@ElonMusk I hate to break it to you but you aren’t my boss. I answer to the people of Minnesota.

“But since you bring it up, I spent last week fighting to stop tax breaks for billionaires like you, paid for by defunding health care for moms and babies.”

According to Musk, a number of employees have responded to his email even before the deadline.

Senator Patty Murray joined Smith in calling Musk out. “Spending isn’t a ‘conspiracy’ just because Musk doesn’t know how to read //usaspending.gov,” Murray wrote on X. “A program isn’t waste just because it doesn’t help the richest man in the world. It isn’t fraud because he doesn’t like it. A law is not illegal just because he disagrees with it.”

Musk defended his act, calling it “a very basic pulse check.”

Trump’s public clash with the Maine’s governor over trans athlete order has been all over the social media.

The heated debate took place on Friday, during a meeting with the governors at the White House when President Donald Trump demanded that the Maine’s governor, Janet Mills, comply with the executive order he had signed about keeping transgender women out of female sports.

Trump told Mills that if she doesn’t, she will risk losing federal fundings.

“Are you not going to comply with it?” Trump asked the 75th governor of Maine.

“I’m complying with state and federal laws,” the 77-year-old responded.

“We are federal law, you better do it,” Trump countered with a threat.

“You better do it, because you’re not going to get federal funding… Your population doesn’t want men in women’s sports.”

Mills fired back, saying, “We’ll see you in court.” 

“Good. I’ll see you in court. I’ll look forward to that. That should be a real easy one.” Trump said. “And enjoy your life after, governor, because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

Those who came to Mills’ defence, praised her for standing true to her beliefs and respecting the law. “In a stunning moment of defiance, Maine’s Governor Janet Mills stands up to Trump, saying she is complying with state and federal (anti-discrimination) law, and will see him in court over his threat to withhold federal funds,” wrote the left-leaning political X account Really American. “This is incredible.”

The Lincoln Project, an anti-Tramp PAC, wrote, “This is how all our elected officials everywhere should be confronting Trump’s authoritarian ‘we are the law’ sentiment. Head on.”

Trump supporters, on the other hand, believed it was the president who “won” the clash.

“Donald Trump exposes the Gov of Maine right to her face in front of everyone,” the account MAGA Voice posted.

The rest of the governors in attendance gave an insight of the atmosphere and what led to the confrontation. 

“It was a little uncomfortable in the room. But, like Governor Polis said, I wasn’t sure exactly what the backstory was behind the conflict there,” Kevin Stitt, the governor of Oklahoma, told Mail Online.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis suggested the discussion was not effective in encouraging productive exchange between NGA members. “We always hope that people can disagree in a way that elevates the discourse and tries to come to a common solution.” he said.

In a statement, Mills said (via The Independent): “If the president attempts to unilaterally deprive Maine school children of the benefit of federal funding, my administration and the attorney general will take all appropriate and necessary legal action to restore that funding and the academic opportunity it provides.”

Speaking to some Republican governors, Trump said, “I heard men are still playing in Maine.

“I hate to tell you this, but we’re not going to give them any federal money, they are still saying ‘we want men to play in women’s sports’ and I cannot believe that they’re doing that… So we’re not going to give them any federal funding, none whatsoever, until they clean that up,” he added. 

The executive order in question that Trump signed tends to end “male competitive participation in women’s sports… as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”

I couldn’t help but be amazed when I heard the news: Apple invests $500 billion in America, setting the stage for one of the tech giant’s biggest spending commitments to date. In total, the company says it’ll pour a half-trillion dollars into the United States over four years, alongside the creation of 20,000 new jobs. Given Apple’s staggering $3.73 trillion market cap and recent iPhone releases, you have to wonder—why make such a massive pledge now?

Where the Money’s Going

Apple’s roots run deep in California, but the company’s influence extends worldwide. According to official announcements, this new $500 billion promise will double down on Apple’s ongoing work in advanced manufacturing, AI, silicon engineering, and skill-building programs for American workers. They’re looking to expand everything from data centers to Apple TV+ productions—essentially boosting their entire infrastructure on U.S. soil. It might sound ambitious, but after hearing Cook call it an “extraordinary new chapter in American innovation,” it’s clear Apple invests $500 billion in America with more than just its bottom line in mind.

Creating 20,000 Jobs

What does that mean for the job market? Apple expects to add 20,000 hires over the next four years, with many roles focused on R&D, software, machine learning, and chip technology. One big move is a new manufacturing site in Houston, set to start producing servers for Apple Intelligence by 2026. Tasks previously done overseas will now be managed right at home. This step underscores how Apple invests $500 billion in America not just for show, but to significantly reshape its U.S. workforce.

Bongino drops shocking news about Schiff before FBI appointment

Dan Bongino, who was recently appointed as the deputy director of the FBI under Kash Patel, called out Senator Adam Schiff regarding his involvement in promoting the Russia collusion hoax that emerged back in 2016.

During the last episode on his podcast, Bognino asked, “Why is Adam Schiff so worried folks?” referring to the Russia collusion hoax, a false claim that led many to believe that Trump had engaged in illegal activities with the foreign nation.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the goal was to hamper with Trump’s presidency.

Bongino added that the senator is “on fire ship” and has a “100% success rate of failing.”

“I’m not letting this go. I need to find out what happened—because it can never happen again,” Bongino said, as per Trending Politics.

Additionally, he added: “We had the FBI, in conjunction with the Department of Justice, officials in Congress, foreign governments, and intel people fabricate a story, invent a story that could have done serious and long-term harm to international relations with a nuclear-powered foe.”

Besides Bongino, other public figures ask Shiff to be held accountable.

“REMINDER: Adam Schiff was ONLY pardoned for J6 committee-related offenses NOT the Russia hoax. Not election interference. Nothing else. Kash is going to take this criminal down. Watch. The Hammer of Justice is coming, Pencil Neck Schiff,” conservative influencer Nick Sorter posted on X Monday.

Influencer Paul A. Szypula commented on Sorter’s post, writing, “That’s a good point. I thought Schiff was pardoned for anything that happened in those years. But you’re right. Nice catch, Nick!”

Further, another user added: “Will it really happen? Will he finally be accountable for the millions he deceived, the millions he’s cost taxpayers, the turmoil in foreign relationships over his lies and subversive behavior? I truly hope so!”

In the past, Schiff frequently claimed he had seen “more than circumstantial evidence” of coordination regarding the alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian agents, claims that were proved not to be correct.

Elon Musk wields chainsaw on stage as ex sends him grim message

Billionaire Elon Musk, who’s now holding the position of head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been making plenty of headlines over the years, but his latest stunt had even his greatest supporters baffled.

On Thursday, at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), along with the Argentine president Javier Milei, Musk waived a chainsaw previously used in a similar stunt by Milei.

In fact, Musk was sending a message about cutting the expenses. In fact, his goal is to eliminate what he considers wasteful use of taxpayers’ money, and in order to achieve this, he has started efforts to significantly cut down the federal workforce.

In the past, Milei, who handed the chainsaw to Musk, used the same tool during rallies while pledging to slash public spending. He even got the nickname the ‘chainsaw president.’

The shiny chainsaw had the words “viva la Libertad carajo! – Spanish for “Long live liberty, damn it!” – emblazoned on the blade.

Musk could be heard shouting, “This is the chainsaw for bureaucracy! Chainsaw!”

He added: “DOGE started out as a meme. And now it’s real.”

While Musk was busy with his little stunt, Grimes, his ex and a mother to three of his children, made a public post asking Musk to contact her regarding a “medical crisis” involving one of their children.

“Plz respond about our child’s medical crisis. I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention,” Grimes wrote on X.

“If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”

She didn’t write exactly what the “medical crisis” involved, but explained that if Musk continued to ignore her, the child could “suffer life long impairment.”

Grimes post was later deleted.
