Trump’s tariffs just kicked in, and people are sharing their receipts

Trump’s administration has imposed tariffs on nearly every country around the globe, and that includes even the most remote places such as the Heard Island and McDonald Islands, inhabited with only penguins and seals.

This is the first time the US has applied a standard 10% tariff across the board.

Michael Coon, an associate professor of economics at the University of Tampa, dubs this decision “unusual.”

“The only place you really see something like that is in lower-income countries that don’t have the infrastructure to collect income taxes,” Coon told HuffPost. “It’s easier for them to collect tariffs at the port because you have to set up a customs office on the dock.” 

A number of products will be hit by tariffs, and Americans are already experiencing the consequences — in a big way— and it can be seen from the receipts they share.

The Washington-based tech firm Wyze Cam posted that they paid “$255,000 in tariffs and $579.23 in ‘other fees’ to import $167,000 of Wyze Cams.”

Adafruit Industries said that just like Walmart, they would be forced to increase their prices.

“We’re no stranger to tariff bills, although they have definitely ramped up over the last two months. However, this is our first ‘big bill’, where a large portion was subjected to a 125%+20%+25% import markup,” Adafruit Industries penned.

“Unlike other taxes like sales tax where we collect on behalf of the state and then submit it back at the end of the month, or income taxes, where we only pay if we are profitable, tariff taxes are paid before we sell any of the products and are due within a week of receipt which has a big impact on cash flow.”

Their statement added: “In this particular case, we’re buying from a vendor, not a factory, so we can’t second-source the items (and these particular products we couldn’t manufacture ourselves even if we wanted to, since the vendor has well-deserved IP protections). And the products were booked & manufactured many months ago, before the tariffs were in place.

“Since they are electronics products/components, there’s a chance we may be able to request reclassification on some items to avoid the 125% ‘reciprocal’ tariff, but there’s no assurance that it will succeed, and even if it does, it is many, many months until we could see a refund.”

People started sharing their receipts and wonder what the future holds with prices that huge.

One person complained on the prices for a suit from his favorite Canadian retail store.

Some businesses even made the decision to pause shipping to the US.

Tariffs are also impacting healthcare.

A Reddit user posted: “A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pre-owned Louis Vuitton wallet from a Japanese seller. The item shipped from Japan. I paid $80 for the wallet, plus US sales tax ($116.91 in total). I just got a notice from DHL that my tariff fees are $83.10!!!”

Governor Noem blasts Democrats over New Jersey ICE facility breach

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem criticized three Democrats who had been confronted by immigration officers while they protested the opening of a new detention facility for immigrants in New Jersey.

Аt the hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee, Democrats claimed Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials physically assaulted the lawmakers.

According to Noem, the Democrats, Garden State Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Rob Menendez and LaMonica McIver, were not conducting proper oversight.

Noem further claimed the private facility that contracts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement houses “rapists,” “murderers,” and members of “foreign terrorist organizations.” 

“What happened last Friday was we had members of Congress assaulting law enforcement officers,” Noem said of the chaotic scene in front of the Delaney Hall Detention Center.

“They were cooperating with criminals to create criminal acts,” she said during an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters, the New York Post reported. “This wasn’t oversight. This was committing felonies. This was going out and attacking people who stand up for the rule of law. And it was absolutely horrible.” 

Noem called for the House Democrats to be removed from their committees or censured.

This statement, however, triggered criticism as members of Congress are allowed to make unannounced visits to facilities. 

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez warned the administration of problems if any arrests take place.

The Democrats were accompanied by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka (D). He was arrested on charges of trespassing.

According to DHS, the three lawmakers were outside the facility along with a group of protesters and pushed past security and entered the place when the gates opened for a ICE bus to be let in.

“What are they trying to do?” Noem questioned. “Release these people back into the country so that there could be more Laken Rileys? So there can be more Jocelyn Nungarays? I just don’t understand what their point is. They have completely lost their minds.”

Democrats blasted Noem and the Trump administration for harsh immigration enforcement, citing the wrongful deportation of Marylander Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a Salvadoran prison.

Trump fires back at Walmart for blaming him over rising prices due to tariffs

In light of Trump’s tariffs, Walmart CEO Douglas McMillon shared the company’s decision to raise prices.

“We will do our best to keep our prices as low as possible. But given the magnitude of the tariffs, even at the reduced levels announced this week, we aren’t able to absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins,” he said in a statement.

President Donald Trump was quick to answer back.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, he wrote, “Walmart should STOP trying to blame Tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain. Walmart made BILLIONS OF DOLLARS last year, far more than expected. Between Walmart and China they should, as is said, ‘EAT THE TARIFFS,’ and not charge valued customers ANYTHING.

“I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!!!”

Trump announced a temporary truce with China and even lowered duties on the majority of Chinese imports from a startling 145 percent to 30 percent for a 90-day period.

John David Rainey, chief financial officer at Walmart, said that the tariffs imposed by Trump are “still too high.”

“We’re wired for everyday low prices, but the magnitude of these increases is more than any retailer can absorb,” Rainey told CNBC.

Last month, the chief executives of Walmart and Target spoke with the president about the devastating potential impacts of tariffs, saying his broad tariff policy might disrupt supply chains and cause product shortages. The conversation was held behind closed doors.

Following the meeting, the companies issued statements.

“We had a productive meeting with President Trump and his team and appreciated the opportunity to share our insights,” Walmart said.

Before Trump’s tariffs go into effect, billionaire Mark Cuban urged people to visit “the local Walmart or big box retailer.”

“It’s not a bad idea to go to the local Walmart or big box retailer and buy lots of consumables now. From toothpaste to soap, anything you can find storage space for, buy before they have to replenish inventory,” he wrote on the social media site Bluesky.

He said that companies will likely increase the prices and blame it on tariffs even if the goods they sell are domestic.

Trump Jr. blasted for ‘vile’ comment over Biden’s aggressive cancer diagnosis

Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer that has since spread to his bones, according to a statement from his office on Sunday.

Considering how advanced the cancer is, the family is reviewing treatment options.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement read.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”

Once the news spread, messages of support came pouring in.

President Donald Trump was among those who expressed their sadness about Biden’s recent medical diagnosis.

Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., however, wasn’t as sympathetic — on the contrary, he made a comment about Biden’s cancer diagnosis that enraged many.

“What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss stage five metastatic cancer or is this yet another coverup???” Donald Trump Jr. wrote.

Further, Trump Jr., who serves as a trustee and executive VP of the Trump Organization, agreed with a comment “without question” that stated Biden was “running the country as a vegetable under the rug.”

As expected, social media quickly responded with criticism of his remarks.

“Mocking a man’s cancer and blaming his wife, who’s not even a medical doctor, shows just how low and shallow he is. ‘Stage five’? It’s Grade Group 5, boneh**d,” someone wrote.

“This isn’t politics. It’s cruelty. Ugly, dumb, and vile. Nothing else to call it,” another person added.

A third person accused Don Jr.” accused Don Jr of ‘”shameless opportunism dressed up as patriotism.”

Democrat campaigner, Harry Sisson, also slammed Trump’s son.

“Donald Trump Jr. just made fun of President Biden’s cancer diagnosis. This is where we’re at in American politics. Trump Jr. is a pathetic, reprehensible conman who wouldn’t know decency if it smacked him in the face. Shame on him,” he wrote.

Hours before his comment, Don Jr. shared an image that read, “BREAKING: Joe Biden has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Politics aside, we wish him a speedy recovery!” He captioned his post, “Agreed 100%.”

Musk responds to Bill Gates’s claim that he was ‘killing children’

Two of the world’s biggest tech-billionaires, Elon Musk and Bill Gates, got into a public feud after Gates accused Musk of having “blood on his hands” for drastically downsizing the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Musk, the head of DOGE under Trump’s administration, labeled USAID a “criminal organization” and froze payments, placed staff on administrative leave, and effectively dismantled the agency’s operations.

What’s more, Musk defended his decision. He said of USAID, which was the world’s largest single donor of humanitarian aid, “It became apparent that it’s not an apple with a worm in it. What we have is just a ball of worms. You’ve got to basically get rid of the whole thing.”

According to Gates, the abrupt funding cuts caused vital food and medicine to go to waste in storage, raising the risk of diseases like measles, HIV, and polio to return.

Speaking to Financial Times, the Microsoft founder said, “The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one,” referring to Musk.

He added that Musk suspended support for a hospital in Gaza Province, Mozambique, which aims to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission, because he believed US was providing condoms to Hamas in the Middle Eastern Gaza Strip.

“I’d love for him to go in and meet the children that have now been infected with HIV because he cut that money,” he said.

Speaking to CBS Mornings, Gates stated that according to him, the cuts made by DOGE would be at the expense of two million lives.

Recently, Gates opened up about his plan to donate all of his fortune by 2045 in order to help the poor.

“It makes the case that the wealthy have a responsibility to return their resources to society,” Gates who is known for his philanthropy wrote in a blog post. “Carnegie argues that ‘the man who dies thus rich dies disgraced.’” He added, “People will say a lot of things about me when I die, but I am determined that ‘he died rich’ will not be one of them.”

This idea was inspired by Andrew Carnegie’s 1889 essay, “The Gospel of Wealth.”

Gates is, however, concerned that his efforts could be undermined by the decision made by Musk to implement sweeping government cuts to USAID.

The Tesla owner didn’t seem to be pleased with Bill Gates’ stance on DOGE’s cuts and their view of USAID, so he took to X to post, “Gates is a huge liar.”

So far, The Gates Foundation has spent $100 billion to fight global child mortality by funding new medical technologies and treatments.

JD Vance branded ‘tasteless’ after comment about his wife

Vice President JD Vance has come a long way since his early days. Being raised by a mother who was a heavy alcohol abuser, he almost took the wrong path in life—had it not been for his grandparents, who took him and his half-sister, Lindsay, in.

When his grandmother learned he was hanging out with the wrong people and that he experimented with drugs, she decided to talk some sense into him. It was a moment Vance would never forget.

After graduating from Middletown High School in 2003, he signed up for the military.

In 2009, he graduated from Ohio State University an received a bachelor’s degree in political science and philosophy. Eventually, his talent and hard-work opened the doors to Yale Law School, where he graduated with a law degree in 2013.

While at Yale, Vance met Usha, who later became his wife. Today, the couple have three children together.

Usha comes from a well-educated family of Indian immigrants. Her father worked as an aerospace engineer and university lecturer, while her mother was a professor of molecular biology.

Speaking of Usha, Vance said in 2020, “She instinctively understood the questions I didn’t even know to ask and she always encouraged me to seek opportunities that I didn’t know existed.  

“I’m one of those guys who really benefits from having sort of a powerful female voice over his left shoulder saying, ‘Don’t do that, do that.’”

When Vance was nominated for vice-president, she put her career on hold in order to support her husband. When Trump won the elections, she appeared on stage next to him.

Being a second lady, Usha accompanies her husband to a number of events.

However, days ago, during an event in Michigan, Vance cracked a joke about his wife that many dubbed “tasteless” and “uncomfortable.”

In a video clip of the event, which has been seen over 10 million times, the vice president said of his wife, “I think she’s doing a great job as second lady of the United States, and I’m so proud to have her by my side.

“And here’s the thing, ’cause the cameras are all on, anything that I say, no matter how crazy, Usha has to smile and laugh and celebrate,” he said gesturing backward toward her.

The crowd started laughing at his joke, but the online reception wasn’t as warm.

Some social media users even urged Usha to “run” from her husband and his demand for admiration.

“So Vance is a trad husband influencer now?” one person wondered.

Barack Obama addresses divorce rumors

Former President Barack Obama opened up about his marriage amid divorce rumors. Speaking to students at Hamilton College on Thursday, he said wittily that he’s working to recover from a “deep deficit” in his marriage to Michelle.

“I was in a deep deficit with my wife,” he said. “So I have been trying to dig myself out of that hole by doing occasionally fun things.” 

The Obamas have been in the news lately with rumors about their union.

The buzz around their separation spread so far that some media outlets claimed Barack Obama was dating Friends‘ star Jennifer Aniston. The actress, however, denied the rumors during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying she has only met the former president once.

Previously, Barack Obama hinted about how his presidency affected his relationship to his wife.

“Let me just say this: It sure helps to be out of the White House and to have a little more time with her,” he said in an interview on CBS Mornings in 2023.

Michelle has also opened up about the rumors. Speaking on her podcast, IMO, which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, the former first lady said, “Barack, you know, he had to adjust to what ‘on time’ was for me.”

She explained that her husband would start getting ready at the time they were supposed to be leaving.

“You know, I’ve got this husband who’s like, when it’s time to leave, it’s 3, he’s getting up and going to the bathroom,” she added.

“And I was like, dude, dude, a 3 o’clock departure means you’ve done all that, you know? It’s like, don’t start looking for your glasses, you know, at the 3 o’clock departure.”

Michelle also opened up about her life after her daughters have moved out.

“[Life] is whatever I want, Sophia, It’s whatever I want,” she said, adding that life of an “empty nester” is liberating.

“It’s the first time in my life all of my choices are for me,” she said on Sophia Bush’s podcast, Work in Progress.

Recognizing high blood sugar: 7 early signs

Researchers find connection between early colon cancer and a ‘silent’ condition affecting over 80 million Americans

The American Cancer Society states that colorectal cancer starts in the colon. “Most colorectal cancers start as a growth on the inner lining of the colon or rectum. These growths are called polyps.”

While polyps are quite common and often noncancerous, some can turn into cancer over time.

Historically, this form of cancer was typical for the older population, but as more and more young people are diagnosed with it, researchers are rethinking screening recommendations and are looking for different treatment approaches.

Statistics say that colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in US, with 153,020 being diagnosed with the disease in 2023 and over 52,000 dying of it.

Rebecca Siegel from the American Cancer Society believes that the increase of early-onset colorectal cancer at young people can be related to the lifestyle changes introduced in the mid-20th century.

Also, a study highlights one particular condition that shows no to little symptoms; non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

This term refers to a range of conditions caused by a build-up of fat in the liver.

NAFLD doesn’t pose danger as such, but if the condition advances, it can lead to more serious issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.

According to a study conducted by a team of researchers from South Korea, people aged under 50 with history of NAFLD are 24% more likely to be diagnosed with colon cancer compared to those who don’t suffer from the condition.

Although more research needs to be done, researchers do make a connection between colon cancer and the “silent” condition of NAFLD.

“Our findings revealed a strong link between NAFLD and early-onset CRC in young adults, suggesting the importance of implementing effective preventive strategies, particularly in populations with a growing burden of metabolic dysfunction,” experts said on the study published in ScienceDirect.

“These findings highlight the need for multifaceted preventive strategies, including lifestyle interventions and expanded screening for younger populations with NAFLD.”

According to the study, the inflammation caused by NAFLD may travel to the colon, triggering cancerous cells to develop.

Infamous death row inmate’s final words mention Trump

Glen Rogers, an infamous serial killer who sat on death row for almost three decades before being executed on May 15, 2025, used final words to give a shoutout to Trump and hint to a dark secret.

According to authorities, Rogers received a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke and was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.

Rogers, who was dubbed the “Casanova Killer” due to his distinctive blonde locks and habit of luring women from bars before assaulting them, was convicted of killing two women in separate incidents just weeks apart.

In 1995, he killed 34-year-old Tina Marie Cribbs, a mother of two. Weeks later he murdered Sandra Gallagher, 33, a mother of three. He was convicted both in Florida and in California.

Rogers was apprehend following a highway chase in Kentucky while he was driving Cribbs’ stolen vehicle.

He was sentenced to death in 1997 for the killing of Cribbs and that same year he received another death sentence for the strangulation of Gallagher.

Rogers allegedly confessed to the police that he murdered around 70 people over the years but later recanted that statement.

According to the Daily Star, Rogers’ final meal included pizza, chocolate cake, and soda.

However, it was his last words that surprised many. He praised his wife, who had visited him earlier that day, and then added: “President Trump, keep making America great. I’m ready to go.”

Before nodding to the President, this serial killer hinted at a dark secret.

He said, “In the near future, your questions will be answered.”

Over the years, he was a suspect in several other slayings around the country, but was never convicted for any of them.

According to the Corrections Department, the lethal injection included a sedative, a paralytic and a drug that stops the heart. Rogers died 16 minutes after receiving the injection.

Bill Gates names three professions safe from AI takeover

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, predicts that AI would replace humans for most things. And yes, he might be completely right considering that artificial intelligence is taking over faster than anyone has ever predicted or imagined.

Naturally, this makes many nervous and worried for their jobs, fearing they could be replaced by AI.

A recent study shows that 54% of banking jobs can be automated using AI. Singapore’s major bank DBS was among the first banks to announce the possible cut of nearly 4,000 job roles in the next three years due to AI takeover of those positions.

According to Bill Gates, despite the wide adoption of AI by a number of organizations and business, three professions would stand the test of time.

Those professions are coders, energy experts, and biologists.

This prediction is quite opposite than that of other experts, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang who has recently warned young people to make careful considerations before pursuing a career in the software field.

Salesforce‘s CEO Marc Benioff said his company is “seriously debating” hiring software engineers in 2025.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI advised young people to “master AI tools” the same way his generation mastered coding since AI would eventually replace software engineers.

Gates on the other hand is convinced that human coders would still be needed in order to identify and correct errors, refine algorithms and support AI’s development.

Further, while the tech-billionaire acknowledges that AI can be very helpful in biology, especially in diagnosing diseases and analyzing DNA, AI isn’t creative, a trait essential for scientific research and discovering new things in the field.

What’s more, Gates states that energy professionals would not likely be replaced by AI because the field is too complex to be fully automated.

Bank of America analyst sentenced to prison over a single tweet from years ago

41-year-old British Bank of America analyst, Ahmed al-Doush, was arrested at King Khalid airport in Riyadh on August 31, 2024, while on holiday with his three children and his pregnant wife.

According to The Times, he has spent nine months in a maximum security prison under Saudi Arabia’s strict anti-terrorism laws.

Allegedly, he spent 33 days of this in solitary confinement.

Haydee Dijkstal, al-Doush’s international counsel, posted about the case on X, writing, “The exact tweet is unknown. His trial and detention involved fair trial and due process violations.

“The information known indicates that the charges against him, the proceedings and his treatment are contrary to international law and human rights standards.”

She added that the U.K. government “should stand firmly against a British national’s imprisonment for allegedly exercising his free speech rights.”

Ahmed al-Doush was allegedly placed in prison over a now-deleted tweet on his X account — where he only had 37 followers — that Saudi Arabia’s government deemed a national security threat.

They also claimed he had contact with a Saudi critic in exile.

Dijkstal has reached out to the Foreign Office in an attempt to learn more about her client’s conviction.

“We are supporting a British man who is detained in Saudi Arabia and are in contact with his family and local authorities,” a spokesperson for the Foreign Office in London said in a statement.

Amaher Nour, al-Doush’s wife, said her husband, who missed the birth of his fourth child, is struggling with pre-existing health conditions. He’s also experiencing mental distress.

“I rarely speak to my husband but in the few snatched conversations we have managed, it’s clear Ahmed is struggling. He has thyroid problems, back pain and is tormented by mental distress.” she said.

“He worries about his family, particularly as he was the sole breadwinner.”

Nour added: “He missed the birth of our fourth child and our ten-year wedding anniversary. How many more family milestones will he have to miss before the [Foreign Office] sit up and take action?”

Jeed Basyouni, head of the Middle East and North Africa death penalty project Reprieve, told The Times, “When a British national is convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison, and neither his family nor his lawyer nor the Foreign Office know what crime he has been accused of, something has gone very badly wrong.

“It would be farcical if it wasn’t a tragedy for this family, who have been badly let down by the UK government.”

White House press secretary backs plans to cut federal spending

Democrats raised their concerns over Trump’s order to freeze federal grants, loans, and related assistance, money already appropriated by Congress.

They claimed the programs such as Medicaid may go into the dark.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Levitt said during a briefing that “this is a temporary pause and a freeze to ensure that all of the money going out from Washington D.C. is aligned with the president’s agenda.” 

She added that the decision would not affect programs like Social Security, Medicare, and welfare benefits.

The leaked memo by President Donald Trump regarding the cuts of federal spending added that the decision would also not affect “assistance provided directly to individuals.”

However, US District Judge Loren AliKhan temporarily blocked Trump’s freeze on federal spending concerning federal aid minutes before it went into effect.

In a longer statement, Levitt explained that the cuts refer to certain programs such as DEI initiatives in the federal government and the World Health Organization, from which Trump withdrew.

“In light of the injunction, OMB has rescinded the memo to end any confusion on federal policy created by the court ruling and the dishonest media coverage. The Executive Orders issued by the President on funding reviews remain in full force and effect and will be rigorously implemented by all agencies and departments,” Leavitt said in a statement.

The statement further stated: “This action should effectively end the court case and allow the government to focus on enforcing the President’s orders on controlling federal spending. In the coming weeks and months, more executive action will continue to end the egregious waste of federal funding,” Leavitt said.

According to CBS News, despite Trump’s plans and promises to cut federal spending, his “federal government has spent more than $200 billion more in his first 100 days compared to the same time period last year.”

Shock as grandmother accused in deaths of brothers, 6 and 7

Police made an arrest in the case of the deaths of brothers Max Johnson, 7, and Sam, 6. Their bodies were discovered inside their Coonabarabran home in northwest NSW, Australia.

Two officers responded to a message sent to the communities and justice department. They forced their way into the Emu Lane home where they found the boys’ dead bodies in separate rooms.

They established a crime scene and officers from the Orana mid-western police district and detectives from the state’s homicide squad have launched an investigation.

The boys’ grandmother, Kathleen Heggs, 66, has since been arrested and charged with double murder.

According to Sky News Australia, at the time the officers arrived at the home, she attempted to harm herself.

She was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

“What has occurred is terrible and as a state we share in the community of Coonabarabran’s grief at the loss of two young boys who had their entire futures ahead of them,” NSW Premier Chris Minns said of the tragedy.

“I can not begin to imagine the heartbreak their loved ones are currently feeling, including their family, friends, and teachers.

“I thank the local officers who attended the scene for their professionalism and bravery in the face of such a horrible event.”

The boys went to live with their grandmother around 11 months prior to the tragedy.

“These things shock small country towns,” Assistant Commissioner Holland said.

“The death of one child is bad enough – the death of two is just incomprehensible.”

The community will pay tribute to the young brothers by holding a candlelit vigil in their memory at Neilson Park in Coonabarabran.

The NSW police said there is no ongoing threat to the community and believe no other suspect has been involved in the deaths of the two brothers.

Joining his family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the Red Arrows’ iconic flypast, Prince Louis entertained the public yet again mimicking the planes going overhead.

It appeared that the 7-year-old royal was in awe by the display and recreated the ‘chatter chatter chatter’ sound made by the planes during the VE Day festivities, according to lip-reader Nicola Hickling.

According to her, William said: “Look at this I think it’s going to be quite wet today.”

Louis was quick to answer: “Wasn’t this supposed to be fun?”

Responding to the cheeky comment, William reportedly insisted: “It is son,” and, “You will never forget this.”

“They will come along here, and then go towards there, and then we will make our way back,” he said.

“It’s not going to be long and I want you to be taking an interest.”

Hickling further revealed that Prince Louis shared with his family which of the planes was his favorite.

At one point, Prince William asked, “Do you know what it is,” and Gorge, the eldest of the children of William and Kate, seemed to reply, “No but I do know it’s got two way four engines.”

Prince William then pointed to another plane and said, “That must be Britannia,” to what Louis replied, “That’s my favourite.”

Hickling shared with Express, that Princess Kate also had a sweet message for her daughter, Princess Charlotte.

“Doesn’t papa look smart today,” she said, according to Hickling.

Following the display, Prince George joined his parents at a veterans’ tea party, where he listened to his dad speak with WWII veterans.

Prince William told them that his son was “very keen” to ask them some questions.

Jennifer Lopez’s reaction to a fan trying to touch her while leaving the house

Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez has experienced a tense encounter with a fan, raising the issue of celebrity boundaries.

As she was getting out of her home, the fan tried to get too close to her, wanting to touch her arm.

Lopez, who was an elegant white coat and oversized sunglasses, reacted in a way many dubbed “bad.”

“Do not handle me in that manner!” she allegedly said as she tried to pull her arm away.

Security stepped in and escorted the singer into her car.

Onlookers were confused by Jennifer Lopez’s reaction.

“I’ve never seen her like that,” one bystander commented. “She’s usually very gracious, but this clearly crossed a line.”

The fan in question claimed he only wanted a photo with Lopez, but he was quickly removed from the premises.

Once the word of the incident spread, many were quick to judge her for how she treated a fan. But there were also those who said she was only respecting her personal space and simply set a boundary.

According to people close to Lopez, she has been under pressure lately.

“She didn’t mean to come off as rude—it was a protective response,” the source shared. “Anyone in her shoes would’ve reacted the same way.”

Tragic selfie reveals hidden danger that took three young lives

Three teenage girls, Essa Ricker, Kelsea Webster, and Savannah Webster lost their lives in 2011 in the worst way possible.

The three friends, two of whom sisters, decided to snap a selfie for the social media by some train tracks in Utah’s scenic Spanish Fork Canyon. What they weren’t aware of was that a locomotive was coming up behind them.

Until they realized what was going on, they got hit.

John Anderson was operating the eastbound Union Pacific train when the incident occurred. Engineer Michael Anderson was also on board. When he spotted the girls, he blasted the train’s horn in order to get to their attention, but without success.

“They were in their own little world,” John recalled.

“We watched in horror as we got closer. We saw them for about 12 seconds until they disappeared from our sight and the train continued moving forward.”

Once they were able to stop the train about a quarter mile down the track, John got off and rushed towards the girls’ direction. He found Essa and Kelsea dead, while 13-year-old Savannah was still alive but badly injured.

“I told her everything would be OK and she relaxed a little. I hoped she would make it and for some reason I really thought she would.”

Unfortunately, her injuries were too severe. She sustained a dozen broken bones, internal bleeding, and a severe brain injury.

Savannah died three days after the train accident at a hospital.

“We spoke to the doctors today and they informed us that Savvy’s brain injuries were too great,” Savannah’s mother wrote on her blog, per the Daily Mail. “Even though they’ve had done everything possible, Savannah will not be able to recover any further.

“We will keep her on life support till the end of the day, but it’s time to say goodbye, for now, to an angel that walked among us.”

Just moments for her death, Savannah posted to her Facebook page: “Standing right by a train ahaha this is awsome!!!! [sic]”

John and Michael, both fathers to teenage daughters, were devastated by the train accident.

“What happened was very intense and I have to carry it the rest of my life,” said Michael. “I don’t know what John saw that night and I don’t want to know what he saw that night.”

Kelsea and Savannah’s mother, Jayna Webster, said her daughters’ deaths were preventable.

“No one should have to go through this, and I hope people will seriously think about the campaign’s rail safety message and share it with their loved ones.”

Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital’ actress, dies at 85

Soap opera star Denise Alexander, best known as Lesley Webber on General Hospital and Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives, passed away aged 85.

General Hospital’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, posted a tribute, honoring the actress’ life and career.

“I am so very sorry to hear of Denise Alexander’s passing. She broke barriers on-screen and off, portraying Dr. Lesley Webber – one of the first female doctors on Daytime Television – for nearly five decades,” his post read.

“It meant so much to have her reprise her role in recent years. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work with her. On behalf of the entire General Hospital family, I extend my heartfelt sympathies to her family, friends, and longtime fans. May she rest in peace.”

Alexander died on March 5, but the news of her passing was shared just recently.

Her acting career started back in the 1950s when she landed a role on Broadway’s The Children’s Hour. From that moment on, she received a number of guest-starring roles.

In 1960, Alexander played one of the astronauts’ daughters in The Clear Horizon. Four years later, she landed the role that would mark her career, that of Susan Hunter Martin in Days of Our Lives.

In 1973, she joined the cast of General Hospital, becoming one of the first female doctors on television and a fan favorite for over a decade.

Tributes came pouring in from fellow colleagues.

Genie Francis, who played Alexander’s TV daughter on General Hospital, posted a photo of the two, writing, “Thank you mama, for so much more than u know. #GH.”

Susan Seaforth Hayes, who played alongside Alexander in The Days of Our Lives, called her “a friend to treasure and an actress to applaud.”

“Such happy memories of her years in Salem and her great success on General Hospital,” Hayes posted on Instagram. “We both began as child actors, both had strong mothers and both were raised as Christian Scientists in our early years.

“I was grateful for her wisdom, taste, humor, and goodness every time I saw her,” she added. “It was never enough. And my love for her will never be over.”

Strange detail spotted in Meghan Markle’s photo of her kids

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tend to keep their children out of the spotlight. Archie, 6, and Lili, 3, are only seen by the public during rare occasions, including the couples’ Netflix documentary.

On Mother’s Day, May 11, the Duchess snapped a photo of herself holding both her children in her arms in what is believed to be the garden of their luxurious Montecito home.

“Happy Mother’s Day! Cheers to juggling it all with joy!” the proud mom captioned the picture. “And to these two gems – who still attempt to climb ‘mama mountain’, smother me with kisses, and make every day the most memorable adventure… being your mom is the greatest privilege of my life.”

She concluded her post by writing: “I, too, ‘love you more than all the stars in all the sky, all the raindrops, and all the salt on all the french fries in all the world.'”

The children’s faces weren’t revealed, yet the photo fueled a bizarre new theory and plenty of comments.

In fact, what caught the attention of many was Archie’s big toe. Some believed the Duchess digitally altered it for the sake of attracting attention.

Re-sharing the photo on X, one user wrote: “Are we all now ignoring Archie’s toe?”

Another said, “Serious question… Is this from editing the picture or is there something wrong with his toe?”

A third person’s comment about Archie’s toe and Lili’s hair color, which doesn’t appear to be red in the photo, added to the speculation surrounding the authenticity of Meghan Markle’s Mother’s Day photo.

Further, another person commented: “The toe looks like a nose. Add the limbs of a 7 year old on Lili and Archie’s now black hair and tawny skin…Someone make it stop!”

Also, the photo of Archie on his birthday posing at the balcony also triggered many comments. One person wrote, “I wondered if it’s meant to be Archie on a ‘balcony’ after the balcony scenes on this side of the Atlantic.”

Prince Harry revealed his ‘worst fears have been confirmed’

With their decision to step down from their duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lost the right to police protection. Harry then sought a judicial review of a Home Office decision that wouldn’t allow him to pay for protection from the police when in the UK. His legal representatives claimed in a statement they issued that he “inherited a security risk at birth, for life.”

Further, the statement read, “While his role within the Institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed while in the UK. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”

Eventually, Harry lost his case in the Court of Appeal seeking the return of his police protection. 

Not only he wasn’t happy with the outcome but he also accused the Royal Household of interfering in his battle to have his UK police security reinstated and expressed shock upon discovering that two senior members of the Royal Household are on that committee.

He asked the Home Secretary to investigate the influence the Royal family and Ravec had on the outcome of his case.

Government spokesman told The Mail on Sunday: “All members work together to advise the independent chair on the protective security of the Royal Family and key public figures.

“As part of long-standing arrangements these decisions have been taken by Ravec, not the Home Secretary.”

Harry expressed his sadness over the fact that his children won’t be visiting his homeland any time soon since such visits are unsafe without police protection.

In a recent interview with the BBC, the Duke said, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.

“My worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case, and that’s really sad.”

He expressed his disappointment about the things his children, Archie and Lili, will miss out on.

“The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything. I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK, of course I do.

“I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

According to a source close to Harry, all he wants is to be able to “ensure the safety of himself and his family while in the UK so his children can know his home country and so he can help support his patronages and their important work.”

The Duke claimed the authorities withheld information during the appeal, leaving the public unaware of facts that would ‘shock’ them.

Internet loses its mind over Pope Leo’s degree

Robert Francis Prevost has become the 267th person to become Pope. He will be known as Pope Leo XIV.

According to Dennis Doyle, a theologian and professor emeritus of religious studies at the University of Dayton, a pope’s name indicates “a certain spirit and direction and vision of the new pope.”

“The first thing that you would look for would be, which popes had that name before?” he said. “That would signify something about the direction that the pope wants to take.”

Pope Leo XIV started his speech as the head of the Catholic Church with the words: “Peace be with you.”

He continued: “Dearest brothers and sisters, this was the first greeting of the risen Christ, the good shepherd who gave his life for the flock of God. I, too, would like this greeting of peace to enter your hearts, to reach your families and all people, wherever they are; and all the peoples, and all the earth: Peace be with you.

“This is the peace of the Risen Christ, a disarming and humble and preserving peace. It comes from God. God, who loves all of us, without any limits or conditions. Let us keep in our ears the weak but always brave voice of Pope Francis, who blessed Rome – the Pope who blessed Rome and the world that day on the morning of Easter.”

When it comes to his views on what direction the church should move on, Pope Leo shares late Pope Francis’ stance. He, just like Francis, yearns for embracing the poor and marginalized, and is vocal about the threat the climate changes imposes on the human kind.

While serving as a cardinal, Leo addressed the problems of the environmental crisis at a Rome seminar, ABC reported.

Before becoming Pope, Leo served as a President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America and as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops.

Leo was born in Chicago, making him the first pope of the US.

“I was born in the United States… But my grandparents were all immigrants, French, Spanish… I was raised in a very Catholic family, both of my parents were very engaged in the parish,” he said.

He also holds Peruvian citizenship.

What surprised many is that Pope Leo holds an academic degree. And while many expect it to be one in theology perhaps, that is not the case.

What’s more, Pope Leo’s degree isn’t related to theology at all.

In fact, Leo graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1977.

That many were stunned by this discovery speaks the fact that the Internet was flooded with comments over Pope Leo’s degree.

“The Pope being a math major means that he not only believes that Jesus multiplied bread and fish – he understands exactly how he did it,” one user wrote on X, per the Daily Mail.

Another wrote, “Math major possible career paths: quant, programmer, grad student… pope,” while a third added, “The new Pope is from Chicago and has a math degree, which goes to show you can still make a success of your life even if you don’t pass the first-round interview at Jump.”

A fourth person commented, “Just found out the new pope studied math at undergrad in case you’re wondering how tough the job market is for technical roles right now,” and a fifth simply asked, “HE’S A MATH MAJOR???”

On Sunday, Pope Leo called for peace from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

I installed cameras in our lake cabin and caught my husband with his female coworker

Olivia Reeves, a conservation biologist with a specialty in wetland ecosystems, believed her marriage was picture perfect. She and her husband, James, have been together for many years. He was caring, loving, and trustworthy, or at least she thought so.

When she was given a bigger office at the university where she taught — a corner office with windows overlooking the campus pond where her students conducted field studies — it felt like moving into a palace.

While going through her things, trying to put everything in place, she stumbled upon an old recording — a rather outdated model built to withstand mud, rain, and the occasional drop into shallow water.

She hadn’t used that in a long period of time and was curios to check what it contained, believing she would hear her own voice discussing her research.

To her surprise, she heard her husband’s voice.

“How could this be?” she wondered. “I don’t recall James ever borrowing this from me,” she though to herself.

However, besides James’ voice, there was one of a woman. The two discussed their plans of their life together.

At one point, James could be heard saying, “We’ll use the old cabin. Olivia never goes there. What’s more, she almost forgot it ever existed.”

He was talking of the old cabin by the lake Olivia inherited from her grandfather. It was true she never visited it, but it was a place holding all her childhood memories and it meant the world to her, and now her husband was trying to turn it into a love nest with another woman.

Olivia couldn’t believe what she had heard.

The following morning, Olivia called the university and requested a week of personal leave, citing a family emergency. In some way, it really was a family emergency.

She visited the lake cabin, and to her surprise, it looked nothing like she remembered it. The entire place was renovated. There were new closets and they were filled with clothes belonging to a woman who was obviously tall and slim.

The fridge was packed with food and all sorts of wine.

James turned his wife’s cabin into a home for himself and his lover.

Olivia could confront James, but she chose not to. At least not until she gathered more evidence of his betrayal.

The following day, she installed cameras in the bedroom and on the porch. Tiny cameras that were unable to be spotted easily.

In the days to come, James and his coworker, Vanessa, visited the lake cabin.

They had wine on the porch, hugged each other, and shared their love for one another. Olivia’s heart shattered into a million pieces. She couldn’t believe James, whom she loved and trusted unconditionally, was capable of such a thing.

After going through his emails, Olivia discovered a joint investment account she didn’t recognize. He opened five years prior with an initial deposit of $50,000 from their savings. Regular transfers had increased its value to just over $200,000. However, since James only provided his email and contact, Olivia never received any notifications.

This showed Olivia that James and Vanessa had been together for at least five years. He was leading a double life and she never suspected a thing.

Finally, she was able to confront him.

“James, why don’t we visit my grandfather’s cabin this weekend?” she said during dinner time.

James’ face turned pale.

“This weekend? Well, you know I’m busy at the university. Having lectures and stuff. Maybe some other time?” he said, as his hands shook.

Olivia couldn’t stay silent any longer.

“Or maybe you don’t want me to see how you renovated it?” she said.

James was shocked. “But… how do you know that?” he asked.

“I know everything James, and I have solid proof of your affair. By the way, the divorce papers are on the night stand.”

Daughter of Rep. McGovern passes away during vacation

Molly McGovern, the daughter of Massachusetts Rep. James McGovern, passed away during a vacation in Italy.

The 23-year-old had dinner with her friends when she suddenly experienced nausea.

According to her family, Molly was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer shortly after turning 18 yet lived her life to the fullest despite the diagnosis.

“She had a great 23 years, but who would have thought the last five years would be the best,” her mother, Lisa McGovern, said at a eulogy for her daughter on Saturday at St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester. “There were little miracles everywhere.”

Rep. McGovern paid an emotional tribute to his daughter who passed away and was taken from him way too soon.

“Molly radiated pure joy. She lit up every room with her beaming smile — full of laughter, endless warmth, and a sharp wit that could disarm you in an instant,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

Molly was a student at Northeastern University where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs.

Her father described her as “unbelievably funny, fiercely loyal, and wise beyond her years,” adding that she had a “rare gift.”

“She made everyone feel special, because she genuinely believed everyone was special,” McGovern wrote. “She treated people with compassion and kindness—always standing up for the underdog, and making fast friends wherever she went.”

According to her father, Molly never let her cancer diagnosis slow her down.

Recently, she finished a semester studying in Asutralia.

Her brother Patrick spoke of his close relationship with Molly, saying the two would FaceTime or speak on the phone every day.

“Molly will always be the soul of our family,” he wrote. “We are so proud of her, and so glad that so many people were touched by her incredible life. We love you, Molly, and we miss you already.”

Molly passed away on April 23, and her funeral was held on May 3.

Full Flower Moon rises tonight—What to know about 2025’s Scorpio Micromoon

The Full Flower Moon, which raises tonight, offers a breathtaking vision for skywatchers worldwide.

It will be fully illuminated May 12, at 12:56 p.m. EDT (17:56 GMT).

The term “Flower Moon” comes from Native American and European traditions of giving each full moon a seasonal name.
So, May’s abundance of wildflowers inspired this month’s moon to be given this flowery name.

The Micromoon, a phenomenon occurring with the Full Flower Moon, is the opposite of supermoon.

Tonight’s moon is one of the few micromoons visible throughout the year. At this point, the moon is farthest from the Earth and appears around 14% smaller and 30% dimmer than a supermoon.

The Full Flower Moon will be visible without a telescope or binocular, all you need is a clear view of the south-eastern horizon.

In case you miss it, don’t worry, because it will be also visible for a few more nights.

According to BBC Sky at Night Magazine, the 2025 Flower Moon will rise in the southeast from the UK.

“It will be beneath the constellation Libra and won’t rise very high in the sky, meaning a clear horizon will be of benefit. The Moon will then work its way across the southern part of the sky, before setting in the southwest in the early hours around dawn.”

This May’s Flower Moon falls under the sign of Scorpio, ruler of the eighth house, bringing themes of power, passion, secrecy, and rebirth.

So far, 2025 has offered an abundance of astronomical events and phenomena, including the Eta Aquariids meteor shower associated with the Comet Halley.

Further, February saw an unusual alignment of seven planets—Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Mercury.

Along with the Flower Moon, the stars Spica and Arcturus will shine above it, and the constellation Libra will rise to its left.

What’s more, on May 13, as the moon sets, Venus and Saturn will be visible in the east, and Jupiter and Mars will light up the western sky as the moon rises.
