Legendary actor and director Robert Redford dies at 89

Robert Redford, the Oscar-winning actor, director, and founder of the Sundance Film Festival, has died at 89.

His publicist Cindi Berger confirmed he passed away peacefully at his home in the Utah mountains, surrounded by loved ones.

Redford, a legendary force in Hollywood whose career spanned generations, was best known for classics such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, All the President’s Men, and Out of Africa.

Across decades in film, Redford earned recognition from the Academy: a Best Actor nomination for The Sting (1973), the Best Director Oscar for Ordinary People (1980), and another directing nomination for Quiz Show (1994).

“I’ve spent most of my life just focused on the road ahead, not looking back,” Redford said in the acceptance speech for his 2002 honorary Oscar. “But now tonight, I’m seeing in the rearview mirror that there is something I’ve not thought about much, called history.”

Born on August 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, Robert Redford began his career on Broadway before breaking into Hollywood with Barefoot in the Park and then skyrocketing to fame in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969).

His on-screen partnership with Paul Newman in that film, and later The Sting, remains one of the most iconic in cinema history.

Redford’s success was shadowed by personal challenges. As a teen, he lost a scholarship to the University of Colorado after struggling with alcohol, worked as a janitor at a local restaurant, and endured the devastating loss of his mother, Martha, when he was just 18.

He later credited his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen, with “saving his life,” and together they had four children.

By the 1980s, he turned to directing, winning the Academy Award for Ordinary People (1980). He went on to direct and star in films including A River Runs Through It, The Horse Whisperer, and The Legend of Bagger Vance.

In 1981, Redford founded the Sundance Institute, which transformed into the Sundance Film Festival where directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Ava DuVernay, and Darren Aronofsky got their start. Despite its success, he sometimes criticized the festival’s commercialization.

Sadly, in 2020, Redford suffered the loss of his son James ‘Jamie’ Redford, an activist and a filmmaker. Jamie died from bile-duct cancer in his liver. After receiving two transplants himself, he created the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness to educate people about the need for organ and tissue donation.

Despite his stardom, Redford remained deeply committed to activism, environmental causes, and mentoring new generations of storytellers. Best remembered as the Sundance Kid, he left an indelible mark on Hollywood as both an actor and a filmmaker, blending rugged charm with quiet resilience.

Mute girl rushes to scary biker at Walmart knowing his secret

It was just another busy afternoon at Walmart, with carts clattering and people rushing to get their groceries, until a tiny six-year-old girl ran straight into the arms of a giant biker in a Demons MC vest.

She was all teary and signing frantically. The biker, covered in tattoos and wearing a leather vest, answered her in fluent signs, calm and steady. Looking at them, some of the shoppers started stepping back.

“Call 911,” he told me. “There’s a kidnapped child here at the Henderson Walmart.”

The biker carried her to customer service while a few other bikers formed a protective circle around them. Using sign language, the little mute girl shared her story. Her name was Lucy, she was deaf, and had been taken from her school three days ago.

The people who kidnapped her knew she was deaf and mute, but what they didn’t know was that she was awesome at reading lips so they spoke right in front of her. That’s when she learned they were planning on selling her to someone for fifty-thousand dollars.

People started wondering why the girl ran towards the biker out of all the people there, and that’s when they learned that it was because of the small purple hand patch on his vest.

“I teach sign at the deaf school in Salem,” the biker said. “This patch means a safe person.”

Suddenly, the girl’s expression changed. “They’re here,” she signed as she pointed to a red-haired woman and a man in a blue shirt walking toward them.

The bikers moved silently, making sure they block the exit.

Lucy’s story continued: she signed the names of her real parents, described her favorite color, even pointed to her cat’s name and her medical bracelet.

Minutes later, police arrived. The store manager explained how the bikers had protected Lucy. Her parents, scared, rushed in and hugged her tight. Lucy turned back to sign a long, serious message to the biker, who nodded with tears in his eyes.

Later, Lucy’s parents recognized him from his purple hand patch. “You’re Tank Thompson,” her mom said, realizing he had made educational videos for deaf children. Tank, the man who looked intimidating, blushed like a boy.

A few weeks later, the Demons MC came back to ride alongside Lucy on her little pink bike. She wore a purple vest with ‘Honorary Demon’ stitched on it, while Tank ran beside her. Some of the bikers had even picked up some basic sign language just for her.

Lucy’s case helped authorities break up a trafficking ring and save fourteen other children who were kidnapped.

Tank continued teaching at the deaf school, with Lucy sometimes helping him out in her purple vest. The Demons MC began supporting the school, raising money for interpreters and equipment.

The science behind oregano and its health benefits

When most people think of oregano, they picture a jar of dried leaves sprinkled over pizza or pasta. But this small, fragrant herb has far more to offer than flavor alone.

Oregano has long been used in traditional medicine with many recent research confirming that this spice offers surprising health-supporting qualities.

The natural compounds it contains, such as carvacrol, thymol, and rosmarinic acid, make oregano more than just a seasoning. In fact, they carry antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory potential.

These properties may support digestion and ease respiratory troubles, as well as give the immune system an extra layer of defense. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that people treated oregano as a remedy for common ailments in the past. Luckily, modern science is beginning to validate much of that wisdom.

Oregano can be consumed freshly picked from your garden, dried, or concentrated as essential oil.

Below are some of the health advantages oregano offers.

1. Powerful Antioxidant Properties Combat Free Radicals

Oregano contains powerful antioxidants such as carvacrol and thymol that combat free radicals. Research suggests it may provide stronger protection than some fruits and vegetables, helping reduce the risk of chronic illnesses like heart disease and certain cancers.

2. Antibacterial Effects Fight Harmful Microorganisms

Oregano contains compounds that make it a strong natural antibacterial agent. Studies found that oregano oil helps stop bacteria like E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa from multiplying. It also targets bacterial biofilms, which protect bacteria and make infections harder to treat.

3. Anti-inflammatory Properties Reduce Chronic Inflammation

Oregano may help the body fight inflammation naturally. According to research, carvacrol, found in oregano, can reduce swelling in animals by up to 57%. Since long-term inflammation is linked to heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders, oregano’s anti-inflammatory effects are truly promising.

Essential oils derived from oregano seem to ease inflammation in the digestive tract, including conditions such as colitis.

4. Antiviral Activity Supports Immune Defense

Besides what has been mentioned so far about carvacrol and thymol, two key compounds of oregano, they also help against viruses such as norovirus and herpes. In lab tests, they destroyed most herpes virus particles quickly. This means oregano might help the immune system during colds and flu, though human studies are rather limited.

5. Cancer-Fighting Compounds

Some lab studies suggest that oregano extract can slow the growth of colon cancer cells and even kill them. Its rich antioxidants may help protect DNA from damage that leads to disease. Carvacrol has shown potential against ovarian, prostate, and leukemia cells in test-tube experiments.

Studies involving animals have also shown that oregano might reduce tumor growth and spread. However, more research needs to be done before using oregano as a treatment against cancer.

This incredible plant also supports the overall health of the heart by lowering the bad cholesterol levels, it benefits healthy digestion by alleviating symptoms of dyspepsia, gas, and abdominal cramping, as well as help with chronic rhinosinusitis and bronchial congestion.

The best thing is that it can be easily incorporated in your daily diet. By consuming oregano, you will not only benefit from its health properties but also its flavor.

Charlie Kirk’s biggest rival has raw reaction to his death

In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, one of his biggest “rivals,” Dean Withers, did what he often does: he went live. But instead of a fiery debate the 21-year-old livestreamer broke into tears.

It was a touching moment for Withers’s millions of followers, who consider him one of the sharpest young critics of conservatism online.

Withers’s made a name for himself on the social media in 2023 when his videos started gathering the attention of many, with his clip Can 1 Woke Teen Survive 20 Trump Supporters? going viral and attracting millions of views.

Withers, who has over 4.3 million followers on TikTok and hundreds of thousands more on YouTube, often faced prominent political figures, including Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated on September 10 during a debate held at the Utah Valley University.

During his early years, Withers shared Kirk’s conservative ideals, but later on, his views shifted, embracing progressive causes and reshaping his platform around social justice and equality.

During his livestream, viewers saw a rare side of Withers—less the sharp political commentator, more a person deeply affected by the death of someone who had long been part of his journey, even as an opponent.

“I’m sad, distraught. In fact, I just cried in front of my livestream in front of 250,000 people,” Withers said to his followers. “Gun violence is always disgusting, always vile and always abhorrent.”

AP

He then added, “I’m sorry that you guys have to see me like this. You know, I see a handful of people saying, ‘Maybe you should take a second’ in the stream. I kind of want you guys to see this. I want you to see how I feel because there are so many people in here right now and I want to, if I can, set the tone for what the public’s response to this is,” Withers said.

He sent his thoughts and prayers to Charlie Kirk’s family and those who witnessed Kirk being mercilessly shot.

If cancer is present, 3 key symptoms often appear in the morning

Cancer can affect anyone, even people who seem healthy, eat well, and exercise.

This is why staying informed and being aware of the signs and symptoms of cancer can be crucial for taking timely action.

Below are three symptoms that are likely to appear in the morning if cancer is present in your body. Of course, experiencing any, or even all three, doesn’t necessarily mean you are sick, but ignoring them entirely may lead to delaying diagnosis and treatments in some cases.

One of the first symptoms to watch for is morning fatigue.

While we all feel tired now and then, exhaustion can come in many forms and it should be concerning if you rested well during the night and still feel like you haven’t slept at all.

This may happen because cancer cells compete with healthy cells for nutrients and energy, leaving your body drained.

If the morning fatigue is persistent and won’t go away after two weeks, seek medical advice and get checked.

Another subtle warning sign is night sweats that leave you soaked in the morning even when your room is cool.

While experiencing night sweats can be a result of stress or certain hormonal changes, sometimes cancers like lymphoma or leukemia can be the culprit.

Cancer-linked night sweats usually come on abruptly and soak your clothes or sheets, rather than the light sweating you get from warmth or activity.

Pain is another thing to notice.

Morning stiffness or aches are normal sometimes, but persistent pain that doesn’t improve with movement or stretching shouldn’t be ignored.

It’s important to note that some cancers cause inflammation, which can show up as back, chest, or joint pain. If the pain keeps coming back or worsens, talk to a healthcare professional. Even if it’s nothing serious, you’ll know for sure.

While none of these symptoms automatically mean you have cancer, ignoring repeated, unexplained changes can delay getting help when it is crucial. Early detection gives you more options and a better chance at effective treatment.

It’s also worth remembering that behind the statistics—millions affected every year—are real people, families, and friends.

Your body has a way of telling you something’s not right if you listen. So if your mornings are consistently marked by fatigue, sweats, or pain, don’t brush it off. Instead, reach out to a professional. Sometimes paying attention to the small things early can make the biggest difference.

Chilling messages Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer sent to friends following assassination

Hours after Charlie Kirk‘s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, 22, shot the right-wing political activist during a debate at Utah Valley University, he joked in a private Discord chat that his “doppelganger” killed Kirk.

One of his friends even tagged Robinson in one of the photos released by the FBI showing the alleged shooter — a slim man, college-aged, wearing sunglasses and a cap, skulking through the campus stairwell — writing “wya,” meaning “where you at,” alongside a skull emoji.

Robinson responded by brushing off the allegations, writing that his look-alike was trying to “get me in trouble.”

Another message in the chat read, “Tyler killed Charlie,” as a joke.

The alleged killer Tyler Robinson sent chilling messages following the shooting of Charlie Kirk/ Facebook

According to the messages obtained by the New York Times, Robinson also mocked the FBI investigation.

Allegedly, one of the people in the chat joked that they would turn Robinson to the authorities if they get a $100,000 reward, to what Robinson replied, “Only if I get a cut.”

A user mentioned Luigi Mangione, charged with killing the United Healthcare CEO, and warned Robinson not to head to McDonald’s. Robinson replied: “Better also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.”

At one point, Kirk’s alleged killer sent his friends a message writing, “I’m actually Charlie Kirk. Wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death, now I can live out my dream life in Kansas.”

He added how he believed the killer was obviously from California. “I heard the ammo had somethin about trans stuff on it, but they aren’t releasing photos or exact quotes,” he also reportedly wrote, adding: “And also the claim wasn’t backed by the official FBI, just some dude in the briefing room.”

Although the leaked messages have sparked major attention, doubts remain about their authenticity and context. Discord, where the exchanges were said to occur, stated it has found no evidence Robinson used its platform to plan or promote violence.

“In the course of our investigation, we identified a Discord account associated with the suspect,” the company stated. “But we have found no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.

“The messages referenced in recent reporting about planning details do not appear to be Discord messages.

“These were communications between the suspect’s roommate and a friend after the shooting, where the roommate was recounting the contents of a note the suspect had left elsewhere.”

Images released of the suspect/ FBI

Authorities revealed that it was a family member, likely Robinson’s father, who first suspected his son was behind the shooting. He then spoke to a friend who contacted law enforcement.

Governor Spencer Cox of Utah thanked the alleged killer’s family for “doing the right thing.”

A child’s desperate cry for help — and the hero no one expected

Heavy rain poured down outside, streaming across the windows of Murphy’s Truck Stop. Only a few truckers were inside, quietly sipping coffee, while a handful of bikers had taken shelter from the storm.

Big Mike sat in his usual corner booth, his large arms covered in tattoos. His leather vest bore the patches of his club, the Iron Ravens, a sign of loyalty he carried everywhere. At six-foot-three and 280 pounds, he looked intimidating—but tonight, he was about to be someone’s lifeline.

Quiet sobbing came from the bathrooms, and it sounded like a cry for help. It was so quiet that most people wouldn’t have picked it up, but not Mike.

A little girl stepped out, barefoot and trembling. She had bruises all over her arms and face.

Quietly, she approached the vending machine, trying to find some coins and get something ti eat.

“Hey there,” Mike said softly, trying not to scare her. “You hungry?”

But she did get scared. “Please… don’t let him find me,” she whispered.

Mike’s heart sank. “Who’s going to find you?”

“My stepdad… he… he hurt my mama. He’ll hurt me too if I go back,” the girl said, obviously afraid of the man she was hiding from.

Mike clenched his fist but remained calm. “You’re safe now. Nobody’s taking you anywhere you don’t want to go.”

The words kept coming from the girl’s mouth, and Mike got to hear how her stepdad killed her mother and how he threatened her. His eyes were wide with disbelief, but he saw that she was telling the truth. His club members around the diner had by now noticed and had quietly moved closer.

At that moment, a woman came out of the nearby booth, Dr. Sarah Chen, a child psychologist. She had only come in for coffee, but once she saw what was going on, she knelt next to the girl. “Can you tell me what’s going on?”

The child spoke of the abuse she had suffered, and Mike yelled, “You’re not going back there. Not tonight.”

Dr. Chen called in Child Protective Services for emergency assistance while Mike offered his home and support from his club. These men, who were so easily misunderstood, had seen trauma before and now used their strength to protect her.

By morning, the girl was safe in Mike’s own home, wrapped in blankets with food and a warm bed. While Mike cooked and cleaned with help from club members, their calming presence also provided moral support for the girl.

Gradually, she learned that some adults could be trusted; family wasn’t always about blood – it was about those who showed up when it mattered.

As the authorities investigated, Mike and the Iron Ravens provided a caring environment and stability. The little girl began healing, smiling, and trusting again. Mike began to realize that real strength wasn’t all about being tough; it was being there for the ones who couldn’t stand up for themselves.

My in-laws asked me to exclude my nephew from our wedding because of his scars

Weddings can be nerve-racking, yet full of joy at the same time. The most important thing is to spend that special day with the people who matter most.

For a Reddit user, Jack, 30, those special people were his sister and his nephew Leo, who traveled a long way to be by his side on the day he was marrying his wife Emily.

The wedding wasn’t a huge one, with only 80 people in attendance.

Jack chose his nephew Leo, 9, to be his best man — the young boy has been through so much after he was attacked by dogs and was left scared for life.

Although he was still a boy, he was aware that people stared, and that made him uncomfortable, but he truly wanted to be by his uncle’s side on his special day.

The wedding was about to start and Emily was about to take the walk down the aisle any moment, when her parents, Patricia and Gerald, pulled Jack aside.

They were visibly disturbed, and Jack had no idea why. And that’s when they started yelling at him.

“Get your nephew out of here. He’s scaring the rest of the children,” his MIL said.

Jake couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Still shocked by Patricia’s words, Gerald said, “He’s ruining the pictures. Tell them to leave. It’s our daughter’s special day, not for distractions.”

Jack was shocked. “You want me to kick my nephew out just because of his scars?”

But his in-laws didn’t hesitate. “Jack, it’s either your sister and your nephew or us.”

Jack got even more furious because of their ridiculous demand. But before he could even respond, Leo overheard and asked softly, “Did I do something wrong?”

“You did nothing wrong. You’re perfect,” Jack said, struggling to contain both his tears and his anger.

At that moment, he noticed Emily had already approached them. She had heard everything.

“Are you really asking Jack to send his nephew away? He’s family!” she told her parents. “And since you are forcing my husband to make a choice, I’ll make it for him. Leo stays, and you are free to leave. Now!”

Patricia and Gerald felt offended and left the church.

Emily knelt beside Leo and smiled, “Why don’t we start over? This time, you lead me to the altar.”

The ceremony went on, with Leo proudly by Jack and Emily as they exchanged vows. At the reception, he played with the other kids, proving there was nothing to be scared of, while Jack danced with Emily, realising that what truly makes a family is love and acceptance, not appearances.

It was a perfect day, surrounded by the people who truly mattered.

Melania Trump breaks silence with new official White House statement

Melania Trump is one of those people who is simply captivating. From the moment she started her modeling career in the US, she has attracted the attention of many, and becoming the wife of one of the most influential business moguls, Donald Trump, has only heightened her presence on the world stage.

The First Lady’s elegance, poise, and distinctive style have made her a constant figure in the public eye, admired by many for her grace and sophistication.

Many agree that Melania Trump is an intriguing person, and her new official portrait — released a day after her husband was sworn president for the second time — proved that to be true yet again.

The portrait was shot at the White House, showing the former model wearing a dark business suit and white shirt as she rests her hands on a reflective table in the Yellow Oval Room.

Through the White House’s opulent windows, the Washington Monument rises in the background, adding historical weight to the image.

The portrait was captured by Belgian photographer Régine Mahaux, who has been photographing the Trump family for over two decades. She also took Mrs. Trump’s official portrait back in 2017, during her husband’s first term in office.

“I was really honoured to be chosen to shoot this official portrait for the second time,” Ms Mahaux told the BBC.

“As an artist to work with such an inspiring woman is a great privilege. She is a perfectionist and is really involved in the creative process.”

The portrait triggered mixed reaction, with some agreeing that Melania looks as stunning as ever, and others criticizing her pose and even choice of outfit.

“I swear she’s looking more and more like her husband,” one person commented. “Why am I seeing a Donald Trump hard eye glare??” another questioned.

A third remarked, “She looks like a female version of her husband.”

“Why does she pose like she’s the president? SHE IS NOT THE PRESIDENT 💀,” wrote one user.

As expected, there were those who found the portrait beautiful and classy.

Drew Angerer/Getty Images

“The choice of black and white highlights a timeless, classic strength. She chose to shoot in front of the Washington Monument. I wonder if she plans to be more active in Trump’s second term,” noted another user.

Melania has consistently shaped her public image with precision, keeping herself apart from day-to-day politics while stepping forward at carefully chosen moments. Her latest portrait underscores that balance — style used as a statement, presence as power.

Charlie Kirk’s wife addressed the nation with emotional video statement

The tragic death of Charlie Kirk, the right-wing influencer and founder of Turning Point USA, sent shockwaves around the country and beyond.

He was tragically shot in the neck during a debate at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

Kirk was then rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The news of his tragic passing was announced by President Donald Trump himself who took to Truth Social to express his sadness over losing a very good friend.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote.

AP

The FBI revealed on September 11 that it had recovered the rifle tied to Kirk’s killing and shared images of the suspect. Police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah the next day. After his arrest, Erika Kirk broke her silence and spoke about her late husband.

Charlie Kirk’s wife addressed the nation in a livestream from Turning Point USA’s Phoenix studio, right next to the chair her husband had used for his podcast.

The grieving widow thanked emergency services for their quick response in trying to save her husband’s life. She also thanked the White House and Vice President JD Vance and his wife for “bringing [Charlie] home.”

Erika then expressed her gratitude to President Donald Trump, whom her husband had backed for years. In fact, it was Charlie Kirk who played a major role in boosting voter turnout for Trump and other Republican candidates in the last election, with many crediting him for registering tens of thousands of new voters and helping flip Arizona in Trump’s favour.

Kirk attended Trump’s inauguration and was a frequent visitor of the White House during both Trump’s terms.

“Mr President, my husband loved you. And he knew that you loved him too,” Erika said in her speech, wowing to continue her husband’s legacy and “make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen.”

Erika went on to say that Kirk loved America, nature, and the Chicago Cubs baseball team, but ‘most of all’, he ‘loved his children’, adding: “And he loved me. With all his heart. And he made sure I knew that everyday.”

She said she didn’t know how to explain her daughter that her father was no longer there, saying she told the three-year-old girl, “Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.”

AP

Erika added that the reason her husband was killed was because he “preached a message of patriotism, faith and of God’s merciful love.

“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.

“They should all know this: if you thought that my husband’s mission was powerful before you have no idea, you have no idea what you just have unleashed across this entire country and this world.”

She continued, “In a world filled with chaos, doubt and uncertainty, my husband’s voice will remain and it will ring out louder and more clearly than ever and his wisdom will endure.”

Just hours before the tragic incident unfolded, Erika posted a message on the social media that read, read: “Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Update on Charlie Kirk’s wife Erika and how she’s doing after her husband’s death

Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s wife, is going through the unimaginable. Following her husband’s assassination, she and her children, daughter, 3, and son, just 16 months old, are barely coping with the reality of losing the man who meant the world to them.

Charlie Kirk will be remembered as someone who wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. The right-wing influencer and founder of Turning Point USA was always open to discussions, and his life was cut short during one held at Utah Valley University.

On September 11, President Donal Trump, who considered Charlie Kirk a “very, very, good friend,” offered an update on how Erika is coping after personally speaking to her following the tragedy.

Trump told CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins that “[Erika’s] absolutely devastated.”

On Thursday, Charlie Kirk’s casket was flown back to Arizona aboard Air Force Two, marking a solemn final journey for the conservative activist. When the plane landed in Phoenix, Kirk’s widow, Erika, emerged alongside Second Lady Usha Vance, both dressed in black and moving slowly down the steps. Vice President JD Vance followed close behind. Erika kept her eyes lowered, clutching a rosary in her hand, a small source of strength in the midst of grief.

From the backseat of an SUV, Erika offered a quiet wave to supporters, still holding the rosary tightly in her hand.

While she has stayed largely private, many of Charlie’s friends and public allies have expressed their grief online.

Instagram

Savannah Chrisley, a longtime friend and Turning Point USA member, wrote on Instagram, “I can’t believe I’m even writing these words… Charlie Kirk changed my life… Instead, I sit here with a broken heart, devastated beyond words.”

On behalf of him and his wife Michelle Obama, Former President Barack Obama posted on X, “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.

“Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”

AP

Kamala Harris shared her condolences, writing, “Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family.

“Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”

Donald Trump Jr. shared a heartfelt note about his close bond with Kirk.

“Charlie wasn’t just a friend—he was like a little brother to me—and to millions of people around the world. He was a true inspiration.

Trump Jr. added, “We’ve lost a leader, a fighter, and a man whose character and conviction were rare. Too rare. To think that his life was cut short by a brutal, heinous, evil act is beyond comprehension.”

Instagram

Erika Kirk shared moving images of her final goodbye, weeping as she held her husband’s hand at his casket.

The conservative activist lay in a polished wooden casket, dressed in a dark suit and red tie.

The grieving widow could be heard whispering, “Oh I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you. God bless you,” the Daily Mail reported.

Standing by Charlie’s empty chair at his studio, Erika pledged to continue his work during an online address.

“Charlie, I promise I will never let your legacy die, baby,’ she said. ‘I promise I’ll make Turning Point USA the biggest thing that this nation has ever seen.”

She then thanked President Trump for his friendship to her late husband, and expressed her gratitude to Vice President JD Vance and his wife for “bringing him home.”

Jack Posobiec, a Turning Point USA contributor, described the heartbreak the family is going through: “Erika is unbelievably strong. At the same time someone’s going to have to explain to his son and daughter why their dad didn’t come home yesterday… Erika is a prayer warrior, her and Charlie are very devout believers, they are very very deeply Christian. When you see the cameras turn off, the lights go down, they immediately go back to faith – this is something they live 24/7.

“It is not something that only exists in front of the camera, that is something that they absolutely walk every single day. Because they have that firm reliance in faith, Erika has that ability to be able to go through this with that kind of strength that really only comes from heaven.”

Charlie Kirk’s haunting 2014 tweet resurfaces after his death

People on social media believe Charlie Kirk—the right-wing influencer and founder of Turning Point USA who was killed while hosting a debate at Utah Valley University—predicted his own death after a tweet from 11 years ago resurfaced online.

Disturbing footage from the scene shows Kirk flinching in his seat as the crowd of around 3,000 people erupted in panic. Many who were there have since recounted the terrifying moment.

“We all dropped to the ground, and I want to say we sat like that for about 30 to 45 seconds, and then everyone around us got up and started running,” Emma Pitts, a reporter for Deseret News who attended the debate in Utah, told the BBC.

AP

In the wake of Kirk’s tragic killing, a tweet from 2014 in which many believed he predicted his assassination resurfaced on the social media.

In it, he wrote, “Did I just get shot by an AR-15? Feels like it.”

The AR-15, Kirk mentioned in his tweet, is one of the most common rifles in America, with an estimated 25 million in civilian circulation. It has also been repeatedly linked to mass shootings across the country.

However, investigators have not confirmed if an AR-15 was involved in this case. Instead, police say they recovered a Mauser .30-caliber bolt-action rifle from nearby woods, wrapped in a towel. A spent cartridge was still in the chamber, with three more rounds in the magazine. The rifle and ammunition are now undergoing federal analysis.

Kirk’s followers pointed to the resurfaced post after his death, with one of them writing, “How did he know,” while another wrote: “Twitter done told the future.”

Instagram

The suspect in Charlie Kirk’s shooting has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who was arrested two days after the 31-year-old Trump ally was killed.

According to authorities, it was Robinson’s father, a former law enforcement officer, who turned him in.

Erika Kirk’s words haunt everyone after husband Charlie Kirk is assassinated

Charlie Kirk, the progressive force behind Turning Point USA —one of the largest student-focused political groups in the country — was roughly 20 minutes into his speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, when a gunshot struck him in the neck. Footage from the event shows Kirk collapsing backward as blood poured from the wound.

He was rushed to a hospital, but was later pronounced dead. The news of his passing was shared by President Donald Trump who considered Kirk “a very, very good friend.”

Charlie, we love you!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

AP

As of now, no suspects have been arrested.

Kirk leaves behind wife Erika and their two children, a daughter, 3, and a son, just 16 months old.

The couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in May. They tied the knot in 2021 with what Erika described as a “very intimate” ceremony in Arizona, keeping things simple without bridesmaids, groomsmen, or even a bachelorette party.

She wrote at the time, “Slow down. It’s one day; yes it marks a new chapter of life. Yes, it symbolizes a special covenant between you, your husband and the Lord. But remember it’s the days afterward that matter more.”

Instagram

Just weeks before his death, Charlie and Erika appeared on Fox & Friends with their children. A widely shared clip showed their daughter sprinting across the studio floor into Charlie’s arms as he lifted her up mid-broadcast.

Mere hours before the tragedy that took her husband away from her and her children, Erika Kirk posted a verse from Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Instagram

Following Kirk’s tragic shooting, Erika was sent prayers and condolences on social media

“Your husband is with Jesus. He was a hero and an inspiration. You will see him again, although I know that is no consolation to you and your precious babies right now.

“I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Evil is rampant in this country,”one person wrote.

Another said that the “Christians of this nation are praying for you and your family,” while a third commented: “Jesus is holding you in his warm embrace. We are heartbroken.”

Instagram

Running her own ministry and faith-based clothing brand, Erika had stayed quiet on social media until just two days before the tragic event. A post from the day before read: “Psalm 34:8 – Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”

As the nation grieves Charlie Kirk, Erika’s story serves as a reminder of the struggle of coping with loss under the public eye. While media and political commentators speculate about Turning Point USA’s future, few could truly grasp her daily reality: cherishing her husband’s legacy while keeping her family’s life moving forward.

Russia issues scathing response to Trump’s sanction threats

After Russia carried out its heaviest aerial bombardment since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, President Donald Trump warned of tougher sanctions against Moscow.

According to BBC, the Sunday’s attacks claimed the lives of four civilians, among which those of a mother and her child.

Ukraine reported that the attack, which damaged the main government building in Kyiv, included at least 810 drones and 13 missiles, leading to renewed demands for tougher Western measures against President Vladimir Putin.

On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that no sanctions would ever be able to force Russia to “change the consistent position that our president has repeatedly spoken about.”

REUTERS

Trump informed reporters on Sunday, September 7, that he was ready to escalate sanctions against Russia. He had previously threatened secondary tariffs targeting Russia’s major trading partners, along with other punitive actions, if the country did not move toward peace with Ukraine.

“We are prepared to increase pressure on Russia, but we need our European partners to follow us,” Trump shared with NBC News’ Meet the Press.

He also added that if the EU increased their sanctions on Russia, then their “economy will be in total collapse, and that will bring President Putin to the table.”

Russia on the other hand dubbed Trump’s sanctions “absolutely useless,” stating they have “no effect whatsoever,” Newsweek reported.

“Overall, one thing can probably be said: This unprecedented number of sanctions that have been imposed on our country over the past—well, it’s already almost four years, now four years—have had no effect whatsoever,” Peskov told Russian Alexander Yunashev.

“They have proven absolutely useless in terms of putting pressure on Russia,” Peksov said in Russian in a video posted Monday morning on the Yunashev LIVE channel on Telegram, according to Newsweek.

Several European leaders have once again expressed their support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.

As reported by Uniland, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that 26 of Ukraine’s allies will deploy troops “by land, sea, or air” to secure the country once a ceasefire is in place.

However, Macron clarified that he does not seek war with Russia and is focused on preventing “any major new aggression.”

Putin responded to Macron’s message, stating, “If any troops appear there, especially now, during military operations, we proceed from the fact that these will be legitimate targets for their destruction.

“And if decisions are reached that lead to peace, to long-term peace, then I simply do not see any sense in their presence on the territory of Ukraine, full stop.”

Did Charlie Kirk start asking the wrong questions?

Charlie Kirk, a right-wing activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA who helped mobilize young Trump voters and was well known for his “Prove Me Wrong” videos, was shot during an appearance at Utah Valley University Wednesday, and not only the States, but the entire world won’t stop wondering if this young conservative started asking the wrong questions.

Kirk built a strong presence as both a radio host and podcaster, repeatedly voicing opposition to liberal stances on gun control, climate change, the civil rights movement, and 2SLGBTQ+ rights.

Among the rest, he was a vocal Israel supporter, with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling Kirk a “lion-hearted friend of Israel” following his assessination.

“[Kirk] fought the lies and stood tall for Judeo-Christian civilization,” Netanyahu said. “His boundless pride in America and his valiant belief in free speech will leave a lasting impact.”

Getty Images

In a July 28 video he posted on X, Kirk said, “No, Israel is not starving Gazans.” This came at a time when humanitarian agencies were urging steps to ease hunger and stave off famine in Gaza.

However, another video of him shows him discussing the October 7 killing when Hamas launched a surprise assault across the Gaza–Israel border, targeting civilian communities, military outposts, and public gatherings.

“I think some questions need to be asked. Was there a stand down order?” Kirk asked.

“Six hours, I don’t believe it. Israel is the size of New Jersey. When I took a helicopter ride fro Jerusalem to the Gaza border, it’s 45 minutes.

“Six hours. They are livestreaming the ki*ling of Jews. Did somebody in the government say stand down?

“That is a legitimate non-conspiracy question,” Kirk ended.

In yet another video from August 7, Kirk told Megyn Kelly that his moral character was put into question and he was called anti-Semitic following a debate he had moderated at the Student Action Summit (SAS) 2025 with comedian and libertarian commentator Dave Smith and political commentator Josh Hammer.

The discussion focused largely on Israel and U.S. foreign policy, touching on issues such as neoconservatism, the influence of lobbying, and America’s involvement in international conflicts.

Dave Smith criticized what he sees as overreach by U.S. military interventions and the strong influence of neoconservatives on foreign policy. Drawing on figures like Ron Paul, Smith advocated for a more non-interventionist, constitutional approach rooted in the “founding-fathers” vision.

In contrast, Josh Hammer defended the traditional U.S.–Israel alliance and challenged Smith’s framing of the issues. The debate grew heated at times, reflecting deeper tensions over war, morality, political influence, and alignment with Israel.

The full discussion was later described as “The Debate Heard Around the World,” highlighting the importance of open dialogue and the airing of disagreements rather than the silencing of dissenting voices.

Days following the debate, Kirk issued a warning that strong forces were “after him,” according to powerprofilesraw.

People were quick to share their opinion on what really happened to Kirk and who is responsible for his life being cut short.

“Charlie Kirk got assassinated for the same reason JFK got assassinated,” one person commented. “This is only 2-3 weeks ago. He started going against Israel,” another added.

“This was a professional hit, we all know who did this… the same folks who took out the twin towers 24 years ago on this DAY!” a third commented. “He started to change his stance and with a platform as big as his they just couldn’t allow that,” someone else concluded.

Another person asked, “So he opposed the Israeli community?”

The killing of Charlie Kirk raises a lot of questions and conspiracy theories.

Many believe his assassination wasn’t an act of some lefty with a gun, but a military one.

Some even see it as a warning, stating, “If they can kill the face of the resistance, they hope the body will shut down.”

In a video posted on Instagram, lauraegocheaga claims, “When too much truth leaks out, Babylon hits the kill switch,” adding, “Charlie was the warning, you are the response.”

What is your opinion on this? Do you believe Charlie Kirk’s killing was a result of him asking the wrong question and messing with the wrong people?

Health experts warn you to stop eating these 8 foods linked to cancer

Cancer is not a single disease but a complex group of illnesses with many potential causes. In all types of cancer, certain cells in the body begin dividing uncontrollably and can invade nearby tissues. Since the human body is made up of trillions of cells, cancer can potentially spread to almost any part of it.

Under normal conditions, cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly cycle: old or damaged cells are replaced by new ones as needed. Cancer disrupts this process. Abnormal cells survive when they should die and continue to multiply even when the body doesn’t need them. These uncontrolled cells can form masses called tumors.

According to experts, cancer can be triggered by multiple factors, including:

  • Smoking and tobacco use
  • Exposure to the sun or other types of radiation
  • Viruses and infections

A study by the American Cancer Society found that about 18% of cancer cases in the U.S. are attributable to a combination of poor diet, obesity, physical inactivity, and alcohol consumption—this being tied for the second-highest group of risk factors after smoking.

One can lower the risks of getting cancer by quitting smoking, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy body weight, and improve the quality of the food they consume.

When it comes to food, experts warn against eight types of foods believed to increase the risk of cancer, thus urge you to stop consuming them.

1. Refined and Artificial Sugary Foods

Too much sugar—especially from sodas, energy drinks, and sweeteners like corn syrup—raises insulin, harms metabolism, and may increase cancer risk.

A 2006 study even linked sugary diets to pancreatic cancer. Dr. London calls soft drinks “liquid death” because they’re also loaded with dyes and preservatives.

Safer choices would be water with fruit, smoothies, or natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup.

2. Red and Processed Meats

WHO has classified processed meats like bacon, ham, salami, and sausages as a Group 1 carcinogen—meaning they’re proven to cause cancer. The danger comes from preservatives such as nitrates and nitrites, which can form cancer-causing compounds in the body. Children are even more at risk because their digestive systems are still developing.

Research shows eating too much processed meat raises the risk of colorectal cancer, while a high intake of red meat has also been linked to prostate cancer. To lower your risk, replace processed meats for fresh lean cuts, poultry, or plant-based options. Grass-fed meat is also a healthier alternative.

3. Smoked and Pickled Foods

Including smoked and pickled foods in your diet regularly can have a negative impact on overall health.

The smoking process leaves behind toxic compounds in the meat, which can lead to various health issues over time. Pickled foods, on the other hand, contain high levels of nitrates that can transform into N-nitroso compounds—substances linked to an increased risk of cancer, particularly in the digestive system.

In addition, these foods contain preservatives to extend their shelf life.

While preservatives help keep food fresh, consuming them in excess can trigger cellular damage and further elevate cancer risk.

4. White Flour

Many processed foods nowadays contain refined white flour. However, it is high in carbohydrates, which can negatively affect your health. Research has linked high carb intake to an increased risk of breast cancer in women, and refined flour can cause rapid spikes in blood sugar levels.

Healthier alternatives would be whole-wheat, almond, quinoa, or barley flour. These not only provide more nutrients, but they also help maintain stable blood sugar.

5. Hydrogenated Oils

Many commercially processed vegetable oils are chemically extracted to extend shelf life, a process that can turn them into harmful substances. They are rich in omega-6 fatty acids and trans fats. While omega-6 in small amounts is beneficial, too much can affect cell membrane structure and flexibility, increasing the risk of several cancers, especially skin cancer.

Trans fats also contribute to colorectal, prostate, and breast cancer risks.

Using extra-virgin coconut or olive oil instead is a healthier way to cook and prepare food.

6. Microwave Popcorn

While it seems like a convenient snack, microwave popcorn comes with hidden risks. The bags often contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a toxic chemical linked to higher rates of kidney and bladder cancer in people exposed to it. Studies also suggest it may impair fertility in women.

In addition, microwave popcorn frequently contains genetically modified ingredients and preservatives like propyl gallate. Air-popped popcorn or homemade versions using natural oils and minimal additives would make a healthier option.

7. Farmed Salmon

Research shows that farmed salmon contains higher levels of harmful chemicals and cancer-promoting substances compared to wild salmon. These include toxaphene, mercury, dioxins, flame retardants, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), all of which can negatively affect your health.

If you choose to buy wild salmon, always check the label to ensure its quality.

Keep in mind that farmed salmon is generally cheaper, but wild salmon is the healthier option.

8. Potato Chips

Potato chips are more than just a guilty pleasure—they can be harmful. Cooking them at high temperatures creates acrylamide, a chemical linked to higher risks of breast, prostate, ovarian, and digestive cancers. On top of that, chips contain with calories, unhealthy fats, and artificial additives, which can lead to weight gain, high blood pressure, and raised cholesterol.

A healthier option is to make your own at home using olive oil, or try baked alternatives like banana or apple chips.

Queen Elizabeth’s four-word reaction after being told she was going to die

Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t just a monarch to her people, but also their strength and a motherly figure. She led the country for incredible 70 years, so it didn’t come as a surprise that her passing brought immense grief and sadness.

She served her people, many of whom have known no other sovereign, until the very last day of her life.

During her reign, Queen Elizabeth saw 15 different prime ministers, from Winston Churchill to Liz Truss.

When the news of her ill-health was shared in the media on the day of her passing, a huge number of people gathered together and filled the streets of the major cities around United Kingdom as a sign of support. The number of those that arrived at Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s summer residence where she passed away, was even bigger.

Her passing was announced by the Palace on September 8, 2022, at 6.30pm, stating that the queen passed away at 3.10pm.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and the Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the statement read.

The new ruler of the country, King Charles III, spoke emotionally of his dear mother.

“The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” he said in a statement.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

King Charles added: “During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”

At the time of her passing, Queen Elizabeth was 96. After her passing, new details about her health surfaced, including one revealed by former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

In his memoir Unleashed, Johnson wrote about their last meeting, saying the late Queen had been battling a form of bone cancer.

“I had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer, and her doctors were worried that at any time she could enter a sharp decline.” He went on to quote the queen’s private secretary, Sir Edward Young, who told him, “She’s gone down quite a bit over the summer,” before the ex-PM began his last audience as prime minister with her.

In his book Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen, author Robert Jobson wrote that the queen was “terribly frail” near the end of her life as she battled myeloma, a kind of bone marrow cancer.

“She struggled terribly with her eyesight and had low vision,” Jobson reported following the Platinum Jubily in June 2022 that celebrated the Queen Elizabeth’s 70th year on the throne. “She even had difficulty lifting a full teapot to pour into her cup.

“[Queen Elizabeth] would get terribly frustrated as she hated causing a mess, pouring it over the tray,” a source added. “She asked for a smaller pot and would get frustrated when the staff forgot and brought the big one.”

Recently, Paul Burrell, who worked as a butler to the royal family for decades, shared more about Queen Elizabeth’s condition and how she handled it. He recalled that doctors had delivered a bleak prognosis, telling her she likely wouldn’t make it beyond Christmas 2021. Still, the Queen defied those expectations.

He recalled that she met the news with four brave words, “Well that’s a shame.”

“Because next year is my Platinum Jubilee year and I’d quite like to have seen that,” she told her doctors, expressing her wish to be with the public for the milestone just months away, according to Burrell.

“Can you keep me alive for that?” the Queen was said to ask.

Further, Burrell told The Mirror, “She endured blood transfusions and scrupulously followed doctors’ orders, giving up her much-loved gin and tonics, gin and Dubonnets and martinis, and instead having apple juice (and tomato juice on a Sunday as a treat) to help extend her life… They kept her alive to witness this landmark (Platinum Jubilee) in her reign, but she knew through it all that she was dying.”

Charlie Kirk’s final words before being assassinated

Charlie Kirk, CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was assassinated during a university event in Utah. The 31-year-old commentator was speaking before a large crowd at Utah Valley University (UVU) when he was shot in the neck on Wednesday, September 10.

The news of his tragic passing was shared by President Donald Trump himself. Taking to the social media, Trump, who called Kirk “a very, very good friend,” wrote, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Kirk frequently shared clips of debates with students on topics ranging from transgender identity and climate change to faith and family values oh his social media and his self-titled daily podcast.

His podcast began with a recording of Trump’s voice, “I want to thank Charlie, he’s an incredible guy, his spirit, his love of this country, he’s done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organisations ever created.”

Kirk’s friendship with President Trump grew after Trump won the elections, with Kirk attending the inauguration and visiting the White House regularly, the BBC reported.

Instagram

At the time the tragedy unfolded, Kirk was responding to a question on gun violence.

“Do you know many transgender Americans have been shooters over the last 10 years?” the individual asked.

Kirk responded confidently, “Too many,” as the crowd erupted in applause.

The individual pushed back, claiming the figure was five, asking how many mass shooters there had been in the past decade.

Kirk’s response was, “Counting or not counting gang violence?” and according to the Daily Mail, those were his last words before a single shot rang out around 12:20 local time.

Panic swept through the audience as he collapsed in his chair, bleeding, while chaos spread across the venue. Authorities said he was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency care but died roughly 90 minutes later. He is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve, their three-year-old daughter, and their 16-month-old son.

Married in 2021 in a modest Arizona ceremony, the couple skipped the usual wedding traditions, grounding their union in faith. As Erika once wrote: “Slow down. It’s one day; yes it marks a new chapter of life. Yes, it symbolizes a special covenant between you, your husband and the Lord. But remember it’s the days afterward that matter more.”

Investigators believe the gunman acted independently, labeling the shooting a “political assassination” after they fired from the Losee Center roof, about 200 feet away.

Currently, no one is in custody.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated: “The subject in custody has been released after an interrogation by law enforcement. Our investigation continues and we will continue to release information in interest of transparency.”

People fleeing the scene following the shooting/ AP

Kirk was a vocal supporter of Trump and traditional values. He organized fiery debates on college campuses across the country during his American Comeback Tour. His presence, however, was not without controversy—at UVU, a petition against his visit collected over 7,000 signatures.

Crime and mass shootings were frequent themes in his speeches, always tied to his defense of the Second Amendment. Speaking at a Turning Point USA event in May 2023, he said: “We should have an honest and clear reductionist view of gun violence, but we should not have a utopian one. You will never live in a society where you have an armed citizenry and not a single gun death. That is nonsense, it’s drivel. But I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of unfortunately some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God given rights.”

Tributes and condolences for the life lost came pouring in.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox shared his condolences, writing on X: “We are praying for Charlie’s wife, daughter, and son. We will bring to justice the individual responsible for this tragedy.”

Vice President JD Vance added: “Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father.”

Former President Joe Biden said there is “no place in our country for this kind of violence,” while Barack Obama called the shooting a “despicable act,” adding that he and his family are praying for Charlie and his loved ones.

Among those reacting from Washington were Health Secretary RFK Jr. and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who both expressed sorrow over Kirk’s death.

Instagram

In London, UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer offered condolences, declaring: “We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear.”

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called the killing an “atrocious murder” and “a deep wound for democracy,” while Argentina’s President Javier Milei remembered Kirk as “a formidable disseminator of the ideas of freedom and staunch defender of the West.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom, who once hosted Kirk on his podcast, added: “The attack on Charlie Kirk is disgusting, vile, and reprehensible. In the United States of America, we must reject political violence in EVERY form.”

To honor Kirk, President Trump ordered that flags across the U.S. be lowered to half-staff until Sunday evening.

Arnold Schwarzenegger hospitalized

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a legendary figure whose achievements span bodybuilding, acting, and global fame. With multiple Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia titles, he became an icon both on the stage and on the silver screen, famously starring as the Terminator.

The former California governor revealed in his Arnold’s Pump Club podcast that he had a pacemaker fitted, following three previous open-heart surgeries.

“Last Monday, I had surgery to become a little bit more of a machine. I got a pacemaker,” he told listeners on the episode released in March. “I have to tell you, just saying this to all of you goes against so much of my upbringing in Austria, where nobody ever talked about medical issues.”

Instagram

He continued, “Everything related to health care was kept to yourself. But I’ve gotten so many messages and emails from people who were born with a bicuspid aortic valve, like me, telling me that talking about my valve replacement surgeries has given them courage and hope to deal with their own.

“So, since I know that going against my secretive instinct and being transparent helps people, what choice do I have?” he added.

Schwarzenegger has been dealing with heart issues for years. He had undergone his first open-heart surgery in 1997 to replace a defective aortic valve. The surgery was a success.

The famous action star had his second surgery in 2018. It was expected to be a less invasive procedure, but complications occurred that required an emergency open-heart surgery. This took place just before filming Terminator: Dark Fate.

In 2020, he had another valve replacement procedure.

AP

Addressing his latest surgery, Schwarzenegger explained that doctors recommended the pacemaker to address scar tissue-related irregularities in his heartbeat.

“They also advised me that it was time to go through with this because some scar tissue from my previous surgery had made my heartbeat irregular,” he recounted and emphasized the importance of following medical advice and staying vigilant about health, especially when dealing with genetic conditions.

The actor’s openness about his heart issues has been praised for breaking down stigma and motivating others to address their health proactively.

Tragedy as teen drowns rescuing four children – his family reveals his legacy

16-year-old Bryce Brooks from Atlanta was vacationing with his family in Pensacola when an imaginable tragedy took place.

Bryce and a group of friends “witnessed four other younger kids who they did not know being pulled by the current,” the teen’s father Shivy Brooks revealed.

Without hesitating, Bryce and two of his friends jumped into the water to save the drowning children while the rest of the friends rushed to alert the adults of the incident.

“Our son Bryce, while being pulled by currents himself literally called for help, but not for himself, he was calling for help for the little kids he was looking out for,” his father said, according to People.

Bryce Brooks/ Facebook

Tragically, Bryce “was pulled under” while in the water, his father said. When family friend Charles Johnson II, affectionately called “Uncle Chuck,” jumped in to help Bryce, he was also pulled under, Shivy added.

“Our family is devastated,” he said. “Our community is devastated.”

Strangers pulled Bryce and Uncle Chuck from the water and the two were airlifted to the hospital, but sadly, nothing could be done. They were both pronounced dead.

Facebook

The community honored the brave teen with a balloon release at Maynard Jackson High School.

“We’re never gonna get to see Bryce grow up to be the full man that he was going to be,” Bryce’s mother Crystal Brooks told Fox 5. “But, we know that he stepped into his manhood to save these children, and that makes me proud. It doesn’t take away an ounce of pain, but it makes me proud of our son.”

According to the family, Bryce was an honor roll student who loved to make music and was a member of his school’s fashion club. He always took care of his younger brother.

Facebook

The family appeared in the Netflix show “Instant Dream Home” which secretly renovated their Atlanta home.

“Get Your Teach On” set up a fundraiser for the family, which has raised upwards of $78,000.

“Bryce’s actions helped to save several lives. We can not even begin to understand the unimaginable impact this has had on their family, friends, and loved ones but know the power of this community,” organizers wrote, according to People.

Following Bryce’s tragic passing, the family set up the Bryce Brooks Foundation, a charity “dedicated to fostering water safety and drowning prevention. Our mission is to provide free swimming lessons for adults and children and empower teens through scholarships for lifeguard certification.”

The foundation has now awarded its first six scholarships to help with college expenses, with Uncle Chuck’s son among the recipients.

Coach is furious when players disrespect the National Anthem: Now watch the veterans on the left

Parents, as well as teachers, should educate children to be compassionate and to always pay respect to everyone around them even from very little age. They should especially be thought how to appreciate the sacrifice of those who fought for the freedom we enjoy today. One way of paying tribute to the courageous men and women, and to our country, is standing during the National Anthem. Unfortunately, not many youngsters do that nowadays.

Basketball coach Buzz Williams of Virginia Tech noticed many of his players, as well as people from the crowd, didn’t pay attention when the National Anthem was on.

Instead of standing in full respect, many were looking around, or they just swayed along the music, giving an impression of being bored.

This all made coach Williams frustrated and angry, so he decided to teach the players a lesson, and now everyone is praising him for doing so.

This coach knew he couldn’t make everyone in the community appreciate the Anthem, but he was determined to do it with his players, and hoped other would follow his example. As even the longest journey starts with a single step, coach Williams wanted to make a difference on his own.

It was during the Veteran’s Day that he set an example for the rest of the country about how things should be done. He had a talk with his players and reminded them of the importance of being respectful, and then had them line up in the middle of the court, facing the US veterans.

“These guys, when they were you age, interrupted their life, they paused their education, they changed their career, and they gave their life for those chairs,” Williams says.

“So when the anthem is played, we’re going to stand like grown men and we’re going to honor men like this, that gave their life, so we can have a chair to sit in.”

Looking at the young men and the veterans standing side-by-side, reciting the Anthem as one, has to be the most touching thing you’ll see all day. And that’s all thanks to the coach who simply wanted his boys to appreciate other people’s sacrifice. Coach Williams is an excellent example of what every educator should be like. He’s not only teaching his students how to be better basketball players, but how to be better people, too.

We need more people like coach Williams in our educational institutions.

He’s an inspiration for many. Take a look at the emotional National Anthem recital done by those who gave us our freedom and those who get to enjoy it today. Simply amazing.

I discovered my husband’s secret before our gender reveal – what happened next shocked everyone

Just the thought of becoming a mom filled my heart and soul with a strange feeling of warmth. And as I was preparing our gender reveal party, I imagined what our lives would be once our little bundle of joy entered our world.

Grant and I put a lot of effort organizing everything. We invited all of our family and friends, and made sure the day would be the one no one ever forgets. In the end, the day really turned out to be an unforgettable one, but not for the reasons you may assume.

Just two days before the gender reveal party, I had trouble sleeping and went downstairs to grab a glass of water when I noticed Grant’s phone flashing. I looked at it and noticed a message from someone saved as “M” in his contacts.

When I took the phone and opened it — since he’s not using any passwords or anything, I was shocked.

The message read, “I miss you and can’t wait to see you again.” I couldn’t help but scrolled through the rest of the messages. This person was someone Grant was involved with. In one of the messages, he wrote that he wanted M to wear that same black lingerie next time they meet.

My world shattered. I was about to give birth to a man who pretended to be the perfect husband and father, but in reality, he was just a cheating liar.

I felt the urge to wake him up and yell, but I managed to collect myself, knowing I could handle things better than by revealing that I knew the truth about the man he really was.

The following morning, I called my friend, Lila, and told her everything.

“We’ll need some papers and a printer. Grant is about to receive the shock of his life,” I said.

Lila came in no time and we started preparing my revenge.

When the day of the gender reveal party arrived, I wore a beautiful blue dress and Grant wore a pink shirt. He started making some daddy jokes, pretending to be the best father the world has ever seen. In reality, he was just faking it.

He even kissed me a bunch of times, saying, “Hey, we’ll be awesome parents.”

“Yea, right,” I thought to myself.

When the time came for the balloon to be popped, I got a bit anxious while Grant had this huge smile on his face that was soon to fade away completely.

“One, two, three, pop,” Lila said, and that’s when a bunch of papers started falling down.

The guests, believing it was some sort of surprise Grant and I had prepared for them, picked them up. Those tiny pieces of paper contained every message he sent to M, and those she had sent to him.

As expected, everyone was confused. Grant couldn’t stand the stares and left the room.

I smiled and turned to guests saying, “And now, the real gender reveal act,” as I cut the cake that showed blue frosting in the middle.

“I’m having a boy and I’m raising him to be a better man than his father.”

My mom gave me a hug, while my grandma yelled, “Damn right.”

Of course, Grant kept sending me text messages, begging me to take him back, but I’ve stood my ground. A man like him doesn’t deserve forgiveness.

9-year-old boy with stage 4 cancer had one final wish — and it will break your heart

Bailey Cooper, a nine-year-old boy, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2016.

It was news no parent should ever hear and a diagnosis no child should ever receive.

All of a sudden, Bailey’s young life changed drastically. He replaced the children games with long hospital visits and exhausting treatment.

Hope was high, and for a fleeting moment, it seemed like a victory: Bailey’s cancer had gone into remission. But sadly, that moment was short-lived.

He returned to school and everything seemed perfectly fine, until the family received another blow. Bailey’s cancer returned, and with that came mor chemotherapy and more hospital visits. Luckily, just like the first time, this brave young boy beat the evil disease for the second time.

And just when the family believed the ordeal was behind them, the cancer returned for the third time, and this time, the prognosis was grim.

“[The consultant] broke the news to us,” said Bailey’s father, Lee. “It was late Stage Four, and it was even worse. It was very aggressive.”

The cancer had spread quickly. Doctors found lumps in Bailey’s chest, lungs, liver, and stomach. They gave him days, maybe weeks, to live.

When he was told the heartbreaking news, Bailey was devastated, but he was also determined to live to meet his baby sister, who was due a few months later. Everyone prayed he would make it that long.

Amazingly, the little boy proved to be a fighter. In November, he got to hold his newborn sister in his arms. His parents even let him choose her name: Millie.

“He hugged her and did everything an older brother would do — change her, wash her, sing to her,” said Bailey’s mother, Rachel.

After Millie’s birth, Bailey’s health deteriorated.

Hoping they could enjoy one last Christmas together, Bailey’s parents asked him to make a list of the gifts he wanted. True to the selflessness he’d shown throughout his illness, Bailey requested presents he knew his younger brother Riley would love.

Shortly before Christmas, the extended family gathered at the house to say their farewells. As his grandmother wept and told him she wished she could take his place, he told her, “That is really selfish Nan. You have grandchildren to take care of.”

When the cancer reached Bailey’s brain, he was forced to endure five painful days of radiotherapy, and that’s when he told his family it was time for them to let him go.

“I want to stay but it’s my time to go, to become her guardian angel,” Bailey said, speaking of his baby sister.

On December 22, Bailey became unresponsive as the cancer took over his tiny body.

His family stayed by his side as he slowly passed away.

“We sat there hour by hour, watching him slip away,” Rachel said. “We read him stories and listened to his favorite music.

“By 11:45 a.m. on Christmas Eve, we were by his bedside. We knew it was not going to be long. We told him ‘It’s time to go Bailey. Stop.’”

At that moment, a single tear slipped out of Bailey’s eye. He took his final breath and peacefully passed away.

Losing their child was devastating and it broke the family’s hearts into a million pieces, but they all knew that Bailey was finally at peace.

“We are numb, but in a way also happy he is no longer in pain,” Lee said.

The family now tries to follow the wishes of their young son, who was wise beyond his years.

“He told us in our last family meeting: ‘You’re only allowed to cry for 20 minutes,” Rachel said. “You have to take care of Riley and Millie.”

This boy’s story is a heartbreaking and tragic one, but his courage, strength, and positivity in the face of pain and hardship continue to inspire people around the world. While his family grieves his loss, they know his light and legacy will continue to live on.

This drink helps reduce gastroesophageal reflux and heartburn effectively

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a condition in which stomach acid repeatedly flows into the esophagus, causing irritation and heartburn.

While occasional reflux is common, when it occurs regularly, it may progress to GERD. Treatment often involves medication and lifestyle changes, and in rare cases, surgery may be required, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Common symptoms include a burning sensation in the chest, often called heartburn — mostly happens after eating and might be worse at night or while lying down, backwash of food or sour liquid in the throat, chest and upper belly pain, difficulties swallowing, or sensation of a lump in the throat.

Certain risk factors include obesity, connective tissue disorders — such as scleroderma, pregnancy, hiatal hernia, smoking, eating large meals, certain foods, coffee and alcohol, and taking certain medicines such as aspirin.

There are certain drinks that can help with reflux and heartburn, but t’s important to note that they don’t cure the condition but provide temporary relief.

Warm Water

Drinking warm water eases GERD by soothing the esophagus, helping food move more smoothly through the digestive tract, and slightly diluting stomach acid. However, drinking too much water at once can worsen reflux, so it’s best used as a comfort measure alongside lifestyle changes and medical treatment when needed.

*Don’t use cold water because it can make the symptoms worse.

Fresh Ginger Tea

Ginger possesses natural anti-inflammatory properties and can support digestion, reducing irritation in the esophagus. Consuming it warm may calm the stomach and lessen nausea, but it should be consumed in moderation since too much ginger can sometimes worsen heartburn.

Potato Juice

Potato juice may help neutralize stomach acid and coat the stomach lining, easing irritation. Drinking a small amount of fresh potato juice before meals might reduce heartburn, but it should be consumed sparingly since large quantities can upset digestion.

Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is sometimes used as a natural remedy for GERD because it can help calm irritation in the esophagus and lower stomach acid levels. It also supports digestion and may coat the digestive tract to reduce heartburn. In order to avoid any possible side effects, drink only small amounts.

Peppermint Tea

While peppermint tea can help with digestion, it may actually worsen GERD for some people. Peppermint relaxes the digestive muscles and can reduce bloating or nausea, but it also relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, which can allow stomach acid to flow back into the esophagus and trigger heartburn. If you try it, it’s best to monitor how your body reacts first.
