That girl at the orphanage resembled my daughter so much that it felt surreal. The same hair, the same smile and eyes, and what was most shocking of all, the same crescent-shaped birthmark on her wrist.

My marriage to Caroline, my first wife, didn’t last long. The truth was that we belonged to two different worlds and never really got along, so shortly after she gave birth to our daughter, Olivia, we split and never saw each other again.

She wasn’t interested in being part of Olivia’s life, and that was fine, because I was more than ready to take up both roles.

I juggled between taking care of my girl and having a full time job, but then I met Claire.

She and Olivia clicked right away, and her becoming part of our lives felt like a missing piece of the puzzle had finally fallen into place.

A year into our marriage, we decided to adopt. Claire wanted a bigger family, and since adoption was our only option, we decided to embrace it and welcome a child in need of a loving home.

We started the procedure, which involved filling out forms and attending interviews, but eventually, it was all worth it because life surprised us in the most incredible way.

When Claire and I arrived at the orphanage, we were welcomed by Mrs. Alvarez. She was a kind woman always ready to help.

As we talked to the children who were engaged in a number of activities, such as drawing, building bricks, and reading, I started talking to a young boy. But just as I was about to offer help with the coloring, a felt a tap on my shoulder.

“Are you a new dad?” a little girl asked me.

Looking at her, I froze. She was a spitting image of my daughter. It was as though I was looking at Olivia and someone was playing a prank on me.

But she then handed me her hand and introduced herself as Angel.

As I shook her tiny hand, I noticed the birthmark on her wrist. It was exactly like the one Olivia had.

“What is going on?” I asked myself.

Claire noticed something wasn’t right and approached me. I just pointed out at Angel and said we needed to speak to the manager of the orphanage.

Sadly, they couldn’t tell us much, besides that Angel was left in front of the orphanages when she was merely a day old.

When I asked about the date Angel arrived at the orphanage, they gave a date that was too familiar to be a coincidence.

Claire and I left the orphanage, and I knew I needed to confront my ex-wife.

I hadn’t had any contact with her for five years, but this was too important to ignore. I was sure she had all the answers to the questions that had been messing with my mind.

When I asked Caroline who Angel was, she was left speechless. “I… I…” she said.

“Just say it Caroline,” I demanded as my anger grew bigger.

She then started crying and said that Angel was our child. Five years ago, she gave birth to twins, and she felt it would be for the best if I take one of the girls while she had the other. But she knew she couldn’t keep Angel at that point, so she gave her at the orphanage, hoping she could get her back once she stood on her feet. Sadly, that didn’t happen.

Luckily, I found my girl, and Claire was more than happy we adopt her.

When Angel and Olivia met, it was a moment to remember. While Angel kept smiling, Olivia was shocked, saying it felt like she was looking at herself in the mirror.

Our family was now complete. Who would have thought that our wish to adopt a child would take me to my biological daughter. Life is truly unpredictable.

Ex-wife’s response to her ex-husband winning $273m lottery post-divorce sparks debate

Mere months after their divorce was finalized, the ex-husband of Eileen Murray won a $273 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot.

And how she felt about that!? Well, she said she wouldn’t take him back or ask for any of his money. However, she shared her frustration at continuing to make alimony payments to him, because as she stated in an interview, “To him, [the alimony] is pocket change at this point.”

Eileen added: “Think about the amount of money that he has just won. What I’m paying him is a pittance.”

During their marriage of 15 years, Eileen’s husband, Mike Weirsky, was having a hard time holding down a job, making Eileen the family’s breadwinner.

Following their separation, as per the law, she was ordered by the court to pay her ex-husband a spousal support because he was the dependent partner in the relationship, and sadly, she’s still paying him the money despite his jaw-dropping lottery win.

It was a court decision based on the dynamics of their marriage.

“I’m not going after anything. I have morals. I know what I’ve worked for and it’s everything that I have,” Eileen said and added that she didn’t believe her ex would reach out to her and offer some cash, although she hoped “he’d do the right thing.”

Asked what she meant with that, Eileen said, “Think about it. How long did I work? How long did I support him? I had to give him a lot of money in the divorce.

“You tell me what’s the moral thing to do.”

Eileen’s story sparked controversy.

There have been those who believe she deserves a portion of the lottery money her ex-husband won, while others say that “Mike won twice!”

“It would be a nice idea to gift her a little $$ money to make her life a little easier,” someone wrote.

“She did support him throughout the marriage,” another person added.

A third agreed: “I’d still give her a few mil for supporting him all those years and move on.”

Eileen believes that her ex would give money to members of his family and will likely donate some to animals charities.

Jill Biden reveals she sent private note to Melania Trump after she broke major First Lady tradition

Following the presidential elections in November, that Donald Trump won, President Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, extended an invitation to Melania Trump for a customary White House tradition, but allegedly, the invite was declined.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Jill Biden revealed that Melania “broke” the long-standing tradition of the incoming and outgoing First Ladies having tea during the presidential transition.

Jill then followed up with Melania Trump by sending a note through her husband when the two met at the reopening of the Notre Dame in December last year.

“I congratulated her and I offered help,” Biden said in an interview with the Washington Post. “What would be the point of nastiness?”

The two First Ladies eventually met at former President Jimmy Carter’s state funeral on 9 January, with Jill confirming Melania thanked her “during pleasantries.”

In December 2024, Melania Trump appeared on “Fox & Friends” and said that this time, the transition to the White House would be smoother.

“The first time was challenging, we didn’t have much of the information,” she said. “The information was withheld from us by the previous administration,” Melania continued. “But this time I have everything… it’s a very different transition this time, second time around.”

Host Brian Kilmeade asked Melania if she’d considered posing for magazine covers once she becomes First Lady again. “You’re in the White House, and you’re not on the cover of any of these magazines. Do you think that will change? And would you say yes to them — the Vogues, the Peoples, whatever?”

Melania, who used to be a model, answered, “Look, I’ve been there on the covers — on the cover of Vogue, on the covers of many magazines before. We have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.”

She added, “I think that life would not change for anybody if I’m on the cover.”

Some viewed this as a subtle remark aimed at Jill Biden, who was featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine in August.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s 15-year-old child Seraphina Rose revealed a new name during the memorial service of Garner’s father, William Jack Garner, who passed away aged 85 in April, 2024.

While speaking at the service, which broadcast in real-time on the Facebook page of the West Virginia church, Affleck and Garner’s middle child said, “Hello, my name is Fin Affleck,” before reading Chapter 16, Verse 8 from the Book of Proverbs: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice.”

As expected, the gender reveal attracted the attention of the public and comments came pouring in.

When Affleck married Jennifer Lopez, their children, Fin and Emme, who uses gender-neutral pronouns, became close and were seen pictured together on numerous occasions.

Lopez used the pronouns “them” and “they” when referring to her daughter, whom she shares with singer Mark Anthony, during a surprise duet at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala in June 2022.

Fin is just one of several children of celebrities who are changing their identities.

87-year-old man comes back from the hospital and finds his house emptied

Chris Harvey was an ordinary 87-year-old man who has lived all by himself in a nice house for most of his life. His daughter lived a couple of states away, and his grandson never visited him, so when he was taken to hospital one day, he was forced to call his daughter and ask for help.

“Dad, I can’t take even a day off. But I’l make sure Peter comes and checks on you, ok?” his daughter, Angelina assured him.

Peter, his grandson, also lived far. What’s most, he never paid Peter a visit, nor he ever called, so Chris didn’t expect him to show up this time either.

However, Angelina somehow convinced him to take a flight to Texas, and he finally agreed, although unwillingly.

Chris’ condition didn’t turn out to be serious. However, he stayed at the hospital for a couple of days until doctors ran all sorts of tests.

When he finally returned home, he was shocked to see some of his belongings, including his couch, some paintings, and the chairs, on the front lawn. The door of the house was opened, although he remembered the paramedics had shut it completely.

He entered, and that’s when he saw Peter and his wife Hannah.

“Oh, what a surprise,” Chris said. “But what’s with my belongings?” he asked.

Peter gave him a hug and said, “Well, grandpa, we wanted to renovate the place, thinking we would finish it until you are back, but you came earlier than we anticipated.”

He then told his grandpa that they got rid of some of the stuff and they had the rest at the nearby storage.

“That’s fantastic,” Chris exclaimed. “Now let me get to the pharmacy and get some medicine while you two paint these walls. I’ll be right back.”

However, he returned right away in order to ask his grandson and his daughter what they wanted for lunch, and that’s when he overheard their conversation.

“Peter, your grandpa is very much alive. You said he was dying and we are getting this house. What are we going to do now, you idiot?” Hannah yelled. “I’ve dipped into my savings for this! Do you think I would have spent a dime on this house if I knew your grandfather wouldn’t die?”

Peter tried to shush her, but Hannah was so angry at him that she wouldn’t stop yelling.

“I know this messed up our plans,” Peter said. “But this home will eventually be ours. How much long do you think he’ll live. He’s too old already.”

“No, Peter, we are living today and that’s final,” Hannah said.

“But what about the house. It’s empty and nothing is finished. We can’t leave it like this.”

“WE CAN, AND WE WILL! I don’t give a damn about that old man!”

Peter agreed. “Okay, we are living!”

Chris went to the front door and pretended he was getting inside the house just then.

“Peter, Hannah, what would you like me to get for lunch?” he asked. “By the way, I have something important to discuss with you two.”

Some time later, Chris told Peter and his wife that he decided to move into a nursing home permanently so that they can have the house.

Not surprisingly, they were delighted. What’s most, they continued with the renovations, and once everything was done, they invited some of their friends from back home over to celebrate.

That day was marry. Everyone was having fun, drinking and laughing, when Chris raised his glass and proposed a toast.

“This one’s for Peter and Hannah, who spent all of their money on renovating this house that I tend to enjoy the rest of my life!” Chris said.

Peter and Hannah were shocked at his words.

“What?” Peter asked. “What do you mean YOU will enjoy it?”

That’s when Chris told them that he overheard their conversation. “Sorry for not dying and for ruining your plans,” he said, “now get out of my house before I call the police.”

While Peter and Hannah’s friends left right away, the two started apologizing and explaining that they didn’t mean what they said, but Chris didn’t want to listen.

The following day, he called his daughter and told her what he had done and why he did it. She wasn’t glad, but she knew her son deserved what he got.

Chris lived 11 more years, and following his passing, as stated in his will, his house was sold and the money was donated to a charity that helped old and fragile people.

I found love after my wife’s passing – Then my daughter said, ‘Dad, new mom is different when you’re gone’

Following my wife’s passing, it was just me and my daughter, Tessa. She was still very young to understand that her mom won’t return ever again. And then, a year later, someone new entered my life. And I though everything was perfect again, until my daughter mentioned the attic in my wife’s home.

Laura seemed to love my daughter. It felt like they have known each other since forever. The first they they met at the park, they played with the leaves, and Tessa came to me and said, “Dad, your friend Laura is really nice.” Her words put my heart at ease.

It wasn’t long before Laura and I tied the knot and we moved to her Victorian home that she had inherited from her grandparents.

The place was very spacious. As Tessa moved from one room to another, she kept saying that she loved it there.

Life felt complete again, until Tessa started feeling uneasy around my new wife.

A couple of months into my marriage to Laura, I needed to take a business trip out of town. I knew Tessa would be just fine, although I have never left her with anyone else more than a day.

Finally, when I returned home after a week, Tessa ran towards me, hugged me tightly, placed her head on my shoulder, and said, “Dad, new mom is different when you’re gone.”

As she said that, tears started rolling down her face.

“What do you mean she’s different, honey?” I asked, confused.

“She was spending time at the attic, and she wouldn’t let me go there. She keeps it locked and strange noises come from above.”

“Oh, is that so?” I asked, trying to comfort her. “Don’t worry, I’ll talk to her and ask her about it, but I’m sure there is a reason you can’t go there, Tessa.”

She looked me in the eyes and said, “And she’s strict. She won’t let me play with my toys if they are on the floor, and makes me clean the room all by myself.”

I was a bit shocked. Tessa was just six years old, still just a child. On top of that, Laura never showed that strict side of hers until then.

As Tessa and I talked, Laura came out of the attic.

“Honey, you’re home,” she said with a huge smile on her face.

“Laura, how was Tessa while I was gone?” I asked her, not wanting to confront her about my daughter’s words right away.

“Well, she was great. She whined at times, but she’s a good girl,” Laura said.

“You know, she told me you were a bit strict to her. She also mentioned the attic and the noises coming from there.”

However, Laura assured me that some rules of keeping her room clean and keeping track of where she puts her toys wouldn’t harm Tessa. And about the attic, she claimed it was a dusty place full of unnecessary things. There could be rats there as well, so she didn’t want Tessa to hurt herself in the mess.

I decided to trust her, although I didn’t forget about it altogether.

Days passed by, and Tessa started complaining about the noises coming from the attic. And then, one night, as I get to the kitchen to get some water, I noticed light coming from the attic.

“What is Laura doing there at this time of the night?” I thought to myself.

The next day, I decided to get inside. I simply needed to know what was going on. And the sight left me speechless.

The attic was a bright and inviting space, far from the scene of terror Laura described it to be. What’s most, it resembled like a nursery. The walls were bright, and there was an unfinished mural of playful animals on the wall. Toddler clothes, stuffed animals, and baby furniture was all over the place.

As I was looking around in complete awe, Laura entered the attic. “Andrew, what are you doing here?” she asked.

“Laura, I need an explanation,” I said. “The attic isn’t dusty, nor a storage, it’s obviously a nursery.”

It was then that Laura started crying. “Andrew, I wanted to turn it into a safe space for Tessa. I was getting rid of the baby stuff little by little, turning it into a room for a girl Tessa’s age.”

She then told me that the room was decorated as it was for the daughter Laura lost at birth. “You lost a daughter?” I asked, shocked at the revelation.

Laura explained that it was her own fears that made her be strict with Tessa, not knowing that she was scaring her.

“I was scared and worried you’d think I was trying to make Tessa replace the baby I lost if I told you about the attic. I also feared Tessa might reject me if I tried something so personal. While you were away, I worked on it quietly, hoping to surprise you with something wonderful,” Laura said.

She assured me she loved Tessa and cared deeply about her, she just didn’t know how to be a mother.

I said she should start by showing Tessa the attic.

When Tessa saw it, she was stunned and loved it very much.

The relationship between my wife and my daughter blossomed. Tessa never felt scared around Laura again.

A document I found revealed my husband and MIL made a significant deal while I was battling a life-threatening disease

Amid my fight with a life-threatening disease, I overheard my husband and my MIL talking about a deal they made.

That day, I returned home from the hospital earlier than usual, and as I was about to enter the living room, I heard my MIL saying, “Make sure Maria doesn’t suspect anything.”

Her words made my heart skip a beat. What were they having in mind? What was that I wasn’t suppose to know?

However, I decided not to ask any questions. I just entered the room and went straight to the kitchen to make myself soup. It wasn’t that I was hungry, because the cancer took my appetite away, I just needed to avoid my husband and his mother, who was pretending to be solving sudoku in order to avoid eye contact.

That night, I woke up and went to the kitchen to have a glass of water, when I noticed torn pieces of paper in the garbage.

I could see the words “contract,” “lease” and an address.

I felt shattered. Was this an address to a home my husband was planning to move into if I lose my battle with cancer? Was he already planning his future without me in it?

All I knew was that I needed answers, and I was about to look for them first thing in the morning.

When the morning finally arrived, I grabbed my car keys, and headed to the address written on the paper that I held tightly in my hand.

As I arrived, my chest felt tight.

I parked and saw a building in front of me. But it wasn’t an apartment complex. Instead, it was a building with commercial properties. Workers were putting the finishing touches on a sign above the door that read: “OPENING SOON: BAKERY. MARIA’S DREAM.”

“What!?” I thought to myself and peered inside.

The place was freshly painted, with a brand new counter, and shelves in the pale blue color I have always imagined my bakery should be.

The espresso machine was exactly the same as the one I had shown my husband months ago.

It felt like someone has taken my childhood dreams and put them inside that place, bringing them to life.

My heart pounded and I felt guilty of ever suspecting my husband.

When I went home, I hugged him as tightly as I could, reminding him of how much I loved him.

“Maria, is everything okay,” he asked, and that’s when I told him I knew his secret.

“Jeff, I saw the place, the bakery,” I said.

“But… but how?” Jeff asked, confused. That’s when I told him about the torn pieces of paper I found in the trash.

“It was supposed to be a surprise,” Jeff said, smiling. “It was my mom’s idea. She used her retirement money, and I chipped in whenever I could.”

I couldn’t believe my MIL would do such a wonderful thing for me, it meant she and my husband believed I would heal. I was overjoyed.

A couple of months later, we had the grand opening.

Plenty of people came to see the new bakery that was filled with the smell of my grandparents’ old recipes of cinnamon rolls, apple pies, and cookies.

What’s most, a friend of Jeff’s shared the story of my cancer battle and the surprise my husband and my MIL did for me, with the local newspaper, and it attracted even more customers.

On the big day, I heard my son, who was helping in the kitchen say, “Mom, we have a problem, there are no more blueberry muffins.”

I smiled and said, “That’s a good problem to have.”

Weeks later, I learned I was cancer-free. Life felt great again, and it was all thanks to my family.

ANOTHER beloved Hollywood star has been found dead after the LA fires tore her home

Hollywood star Dalyce Curry, who played an extra in Blues Brothers, found dead after her home was burned down amid LA fires.

The fires that are raging in LA have affected thousands of homes and businesses. Over 200,000 people have been evacuated.

According to reports, the number of people who lost their lives reached 24.

Curry’s body was found at around 6 p.m. local time on Sunday, January 12.

The news of her passing was confirmed by her granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, who took to Facebook to share that her “beloved grandmother” has died in the fires.

“We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

The family last saw the star who died in the LA fires on January, 7, around the time the blazes started.

Curry’s Altadena home was completely destroyed by the Eaton Fire.

When her granddaughter received a text message that her grandma’s home had lost power, she went to check up on Curry, but the home was already destroyed and her grandma was nowhere to be seen.

“I’m sorry your grandmother’s property is gone. It totally burned down,” an officer told her, according to KABC.

“Everything was gone except her blue Cadillac,” Kelley said.

The actress’ other granddaughter, Lorée Beamer-Wilkinson, also shared her heartbreak over her grandma’s tragic passing.

“With a heavy heart, I share that our search for Momma D has come to an end, as her remains were found in her home,” she wrote. “We are devastated, and it’s difficult to comprehend how her life came to this end.

“I feel so grateful for the love and opportunity to have known her, even if only for a short time. Momma D was an extraordinary woman who welcomed me and my children into her life with open arms.”

“She radiated positivity, showed grace, and lived as a shining example of strength, resilience, and kindness. Her story is one of breaking barriers, overcoming challenges, and spreading love wherever she went.”

She continued: “I miss her deeply and am working through the waves of regret—wishing I had called her more, shared more moments. But I know the best way to honor her is to keep her memory alive and cherish the beautiful moments we shared.”

Melania Trump, who is days away from returning to the White House as a First Lady, caught the attention of the public with the unusual outfit she wore at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral.

A number of former presidents attended the funeral of former President Carter, including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W Bush. As expected, President Biden was also in attendance along with his wife.

Donald and Melania Trump were both in attendance when Jimmy Carter’s official state funeral service was held at the Washington National Cathedral last week.

Her fashion statement caused a stir on the social media, and this isn’t the first time her choice of outfit to spark controversy.

Melania opted for a black Valentino trench coat, but it was the Peter Pan-style collar atop of it with a “rose-kiss” print, of a 19th-century sculpture by Auguste Rodin, that caught the eyes of many.

As per Women’s Wear Daily, this print was incorporated into multiple pieces in Valentino’s fall 2019 collection.

And while some loved the way she looked, others criticized her yet again.

“I’m glad this time, Melania found an appropriate black dress to wear to a funeral,” one individual stated.

“She just got off the Mayflower,” a second commented.

In the past, the public and the media criticized Melania for her outfits.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the fire of the power plant isn’t related to the fires that are causing destruction in LA.

As reported by the CNN, the fire at the power plant started around 3 p.m., and evacuation order for over 1,700 citizens was issued at approximately 6:30 p.m. due to concerns over hazardous materials and potential chemical releases.

The power plant, that has been left to burn on its own, contains tens of thousands of lithium batteries.

“There’s no way to sugar coat it. This is a disaster, is what it is,” Monterey County Supervisor Glenn Church told KSBW-TV.

Vistra Energy, the company that owned the power plant, finished the latest stage of construction on the energy storage facility in 2023.

Following the expansion, the power plant held a capacity of 750 megawatts and 3,000 megawatt-hours, enough to power around 562,000 homes for up to four hours.

The fire started in one of the plant’s lithium-ion batteries, and according to a spokesperson of Vista Energy, Jenny Lyon, the cause has not yet been determined. She added that an investigation will be launched once the fire is extinguished.

“Our top priority is the safety of the community and our personnel, and Vistra deeply appreciates the continued assistance of our local emergency responders,” Lyon said.

Following the fire, several roads were closed to ensure public safety, including both directions of Highway 1 at Salinas Road, as well as Dolan Road and Castroville Boulevard.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office has issued Evacuation Orders for areas of Moss Landing South of the Elkhorn Slough, North of Molera Rd and Monterey Dunes Way, and West of Castroville Blvd and ElkHorn Rd. to the ocean for the following zones: MRY-B037, MRY-B047, MRY-B050,… pic.twitter.com/lGfInaFL1v

Monterey County Spokesperson Nicholas Pasculli said the fire’s severity and the air quality is being monitored by drones.

The burning power plant is surrounded by sensitive ecosystems, including the Moss Landing Wildlife Area, Elkhorn Slough State Marine Reserve, and Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve.

As of now, the fire is still on and residents are urged to stay home with windows closed, and not to use the ventilation systems.

Woman dying of cancer shares her biggest regret

Amanda Hedges, a 31-year-old woman who was diagnosed with cancer, opens up about how she would have lived her life differently.

Thinking about life, we believe we have plenty of time ahead of us, but the truth is that things happen that prevent us from living it to the fullest and achieve everything we hoped for.

For Amanda, the thing that turned her life upside down has been her cancer diagnosis.

It all started last year when she started experiencing mild headaches she believed were triggered by her anxiety medications.

“I asked my psychiatrist about it. They weren’t bad headaches and went away with Panadol,” she explained.

Unfortunately, after undergoing an MRI, she learned that the headaches were caused by an aggressive brain tumor that left her with only months to live, and now, she won’t forgive herself for “forgetting to live.”

The tumor is inoperable and according to her, the endless rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy will not make the tumor disappear, they can only prolong her life.

Amanda would have changed a lot of things about her life had she had the chance.

“None of my old bosses or colleagues are sitting with me while I do chemo.

“It’s my mum and dad and friends that are here supporting me through this,” she told FEMAIL.

“I wish I could live again so I could stop worrying about the little things and enjoy myself.

“‘I would spend more time with the people who actually mattered, make more of an effort to meet someone and have kids, to travel.

“If I had my time again I would do everything different.”

She continued: “I really want to stay at a hotel on the beach and just listen to the waves and forget that I am dying. Forget that I am me. Be someone else for a few days and just relax and have fun.

“I have also always wanted to head back to Australia Zoo and see Robert Irwin do a show. I saw his dad do one when I was a kid but I have always just put off going.

“And I really want to go to an all-you-can-eat buffet. I guess hotels would have that covered.”

Amanda said it is her parents, especially her mom, who helps her stay positive despite the grim diagnosis.

“They don’t know how long the cancer has been there or when it will start to happen, but it will happen,” she said.

“I haven’t processed it all yet.

“I wasted 30 years of my life doing nothing and I still have cancer.”

She’s hoping she would use the time she’s left to make the most out of her days.

During the 70’s, however, the consumption of pork among Americans dropped due to their growing awareness of the need for a healthier lifestyle, and with that, opting for leaner meats.

When buying pork, it is of great importance to pay attention to its color, which ranges from pale pink to dark red.

Knowing how the color affects the quality of the meat can help you choose the best pieces.

As per the Animal Range Extension, high-quality pork has a bright, reddish-pink hue. This color suggest freshness.

Of course, the color also depends on the part of the animal. There are parts that include more blood vessels, such as the neck area, the shoulders, and the front legs, which leads the meat from these parts to be darker.

The parts with less blood vessels, including the loin, hind leg, and rump meat, have a lighter color.

If the pork has purple or dark red color, it may suggest that the pig wasn’t alive when slaughtered for its meat.

In case the animal was sick, there would be dark bruises due to blood clots when you cut through it.

If the color of the pork is slightly dark, it may refer that it is fresh and sold shortly after slaughter.

When the color is rather light, and there are signs of bubbling, be sure to know that the meat isn’t fresh, but has been injected with water in order to increase in weight.

When buying pork, opt for pieces with pink or bright red color. The nice white color of the fat is another indicator that the meat is fresh.

In case the color is not enough indicator of the freshness of the meat, the smell certainly is. Fresh pork has a faint fishy smell. If the odor is too strong, don’t buy it.

At the end, touch it. Good meat shouldn’t feel sticky, but slightly moistly.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties some four years ago, yet the public is still speculating about the exact reasons behind this decision that affected their relationship with the rest of the royals. One of the reasons, as per the couple themselves, was their attempt to get out of the limelight.

This, however, wasn’t something the wide public had fallen for, since both Harry and Meghan continued enjoying the media exposure in the States, giving interviews, publishing a book, and even taking on tours that resemble official royal engagements.

However, although they remained in the spotlight, they do try their best to keep their children away from the media.

The truth is that Harry’s relationship with the media has always been a complex one, especially because he believes the media, especially the paparazzi, pushed his mother, Princess Diana, to her death.

When Archie was born, Harry wasn’t much interested in revealing details surrounding the birth of the baby. However, he was forced into sharing with the people that Archie arrived into the world due to the breach of the “unwritten contract between the royals and the public.”

Harry and Meghan posed with him in front of the Portland Hospital in London, where he was born, as is the tradition.

“Today The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share their first public moment as a family,” the Sussexes wrote.

Since then, not many photos of Archie have seen the light of the day.

The same goes for Lilibet, Harry and Meghan’s daughter, who was born in the United States.

However, that changed when the Netflix documentary about Harry and Meghan, consisting of six episodes, aired. In the first episode of the documentary, the Sussexes provided people from all over the world with an intimate look into the family life at their home in Montecito, California, which was previously described as “Fort Knox,” and security is tight.

With that said, fans were able to take a closer look at Archie and Lilibet as well.

When Lili turned one, the Sussexes had a small picnic party at Frogmore Cottage, their now-former UK home. Photos of the celebration was posted on the social media.

However, other than that, the public doesn’t get to see neither Archie, nor Lili. At least until recently, when they got to take a glance at the young prince and princess.

When they released the family’s Christmas Card in December 2024, featuring six personal photos, there was a photo showing Archie and Lili.

The photo showed the little ones running into their parents’ open arms.

What caught the attention of many was Lili’s long auburn locks.

The family’s three adorable pet pooches, Guy, Pula and Momma Mia, are also shown on the photo.

The rest of the photos included family trips, including their recent trips to Nigeria and Colombia.

The caption read: “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundations. We wish you a very Happy Holiday Season and a joyful new year.”

Hypnic jerks, or sleep starts, are the falling sensation we sometimes feel while drifting off to sleep.

The term hypnic, which is the short form of the word hypnagogic, represents the transition between wakefulness to sleep. This is the phase when these jerks occur. Researchers don’t know the exact reason why these jolts happen, but they do provide various theories.

These jerks are involuntary, meaning the person is not making their body to move willingly. In fact, they are described as muscle contractions felt in the entire body, or certain areas, like the arms or the legs.

When falling asleep, the muscles relax entirely so the brain mistakenly assumes the person is really falling and reacts by twitching the muscles.

Although these jerks are harmless, they can sometimes affect the person’s quality of sleep.

Researchers suggest that stress, caffeine, or physical exhaustion can make these jerks more frequent.

Additionally, hypnic jerks can be triggered by sleep deprivation, vigorous exercise at night, and excessive nicotine consumption.

Around 75% of the population has experienced these hypnic jerks during their lifetime.

However, if they persist and you believe they are caused by another reason, seek medical advice.

In order to reduce and get rid of these jerks make sure you adopt better sleeping habits, such as going to bed at the same time during the weeks, including weekends, keep your room temperature at around 65 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, don’t use electronics at least an hour before going to bed, keep the room dark.

Further, exercise regularly, reduce the alcohol and nicotine intake, as well as the caffeine intake.

To avoid hypnic jerks, try to complete your workout at least 90 minutes before bed to give your heart rate time to return to normal.

Actor Mel Gibson has presented his own theory regarding the LA wildfires, and it left many baffled.

The Mad Max star lost his £12million Malibu home in the fires. That prompted a reaction from him that led to backlash.

“I can make all kinds of horrible theories up in my head – conspiracy theories and everything else – but it just seemed a little convenient that there was no water.

“And that the wind conditions were right and that there are people ready and willing and able to start fires,” he said, believing that the destruction could have been “commissioned” to clear homes off valuable land.

Following the reports that a suspect was arrested in relation to starting one of the fires, the actor asked if that person, whose identity hasn’t been revealed, was acting on their own or he could have been “commissioned” to do what he had done.

“They seem pretty well equipped, some of these people that they’re catching.

“I know they were missing with the water, letting reserves go for one reason or another,” Gibson said in a recent interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham for The Ingraham Angle.

“They’ve been doing that a while. California has a lot of problems that sort of baffle the mind as far as why they do things.”

His claims sparked controversy among people.

“Conspiracy theories are his last claims to fame,” someone wrote on Twitter. “While people in California are fighting fires, these two are busy lighting fires,” another added. “Shameful,” a third posted.

Ingraham commented on what Gibson had to say, saying there have already been rumblings about high-density housing in the areas affected by the fires. The award-winning actor compared the situation with “old cattle barons clearing people off the land.”

Until this very day, An Officer and a Gentleman remains one of the most iconic romantic dramas there are and a benchmark of what true love should stand for. However, the film wouldn’t be what it is without the stunning performances of Richard Gere and beautiful Debra Winger.

Even today, at the age of 69, Winger looks as enchanting as ever.

At the age of 18, the actress was involved in a life-threatening accident. While working at an amusement park, she fell off a truck, resulting in a cerebral hemorrhage that left her partially paralyzed and blind for 10 months. Despite the odds, she had regained her sight and pursued career in acting.

Winger’s acting career started back in 1976 with the film Slumber Party ‘57. What followed was the role of Drusilla, the younger sister to Lynda Carter’s Diana Prince in Wonder Woman.

During the 1980’s, Winger landed three roles in three movies which took her to stardom and helped her make a name for herself.

In 1980, she starred in Urban Cowboy, with John Travolta, who the world went crazy about following his smooth dance moves in Saturday Night Fever (1977) and Grease (1988); she then starred as Paula in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982) and as Emma in Terms of Endearment (1983), alongside Shirley MacLaine.

Amid her success, Winger took some time off Hollywood, and today, four decades later, there are still speculations of the reasons for her hiatus.

Rumor has it that she had it enough of Richard Gere on set.

According to an excerpt published on ABC News from the book, “An Actor and a Gentleman,” by co-star, Louis Gossett Jr., who played Sgt. Emil Foley: “The onscreen chemistry between the two of them was terrific, but it was a different story once the camera was turned off. They couldn’t have stayed farther apart from each other.”

Further, Gossett claimed that Winger described Gere as “a brick wall” when it came to his acting and referred to the director Taylor Hackford as to “animal.”

When she played Emma, Winger’s free-spirited character clashed with that of prolific MacLaine. “To see how my character would feel I was wearing all my leftover movie-star fur coats,” MacLaine said in an interview with People of her first meeting with her co-star on the set of Terms of Endearment. “There was Debra dressed in combat boots and a miniskirt…I thought, ‘Oh my goodness.’”

“Indeed, the set became the source of Hollywood’s most relished rumors. Winger wanted top billing. One reportedly slugged the other,” People wrote.

Things between MacLaine and Winger turned even more heated when both actresses were nominated for an Academy Award which MacLaine received. In her acceptance speech, the veteran actress said, “I deserve this!”

Winger, however, said that her break for Hollywood was due to personal reasons and had nothing to do with her relationship with some of her co-stars.

“The parts that were coming, I wasn’t interested in. I’d already done that or I’d already felt that. I needed to be challenged. My life challenged me more than the parts, so I dove into it fully,” Winger told People.

Following her role in Forget Paris, 1995, Winger took a six-year break during which she tied the knot with actor Arliss Howard with whom she shares a son. She also became a step-mother from his son from a previous relationship. Winger herself had a child from her first marriage to Timothy Hutton.

Winger reappeared in the 2001 film Big Bad Love, which was directed and produced by her husband, who also co-starred alongside Winger and Rosanna Arquette, who’s next project was 2002 film Searching for Debra Winger. As director of the documentary, Arquette attempts to answer why Winger temporarily abandoned her career at the peak of her career.

Other films Winger took part in are Rachel Getting Married (2008) with Anne Hathaway, the 2017 romcom The Lovers, and the crime-comedy, Kajillionaire (2020), among the rest.

“I don’t know what Hollywood is. I’m living under the freaking sign now, and I just stare at it and laugh. Los Angeles is a place, but the idea of Hollywood doesn’t really exist for me,” Winger said. She added: “…although there must be some in-crowds that I just don’t know about.”

The truth is that there are plenty of myths and truths about this morning practice, so let’s take a look at the potential benefits.

Water is crucial for most bodily functions, including controlling body temperature, aiding digestion, and facilitating the movement of nutrients and waste in and out of cells.

Throughout the day, the body loses water through sweat, urine, breath, and body movements. So, it is essential to take enough water in order to make up for these loses.

Otherwise, it can lead to dehydration.

Having water first thing in morning is believed to rehydrate the body, but this isn’t entirely true.

Many people believe that the color of their urine is an indicator of how hydrated they are, but according to a number of studies, this does not necessarily reflect one’s hydration status accurately.

While drinking water first thing in the morning does offer certain benefits, the timing of water consumption may not be the determining factor in these outcomes.

The claims that drinking water on an empty stomach improves mental performance or skin health are also not scientifically proven. Hydration does impact the body and skin regardless of the time of the day you have your water. The key is staying hydrated throughout the day, not necessarily drink water first thing in the morning.

When it comes to the relationship between drinking water and weight loss, it’s a complex one. Drinking enough water provides a feeling of fullness, and with that, reduced calorie consumption.

Studied claim that water-induced thermogenesis can accelerate metabolism, but the time we drink water doesn’t affect weight loss results significantly. What’s most, water consumption shortly before a meal might interfere with digestion.

The daily water intake depends on several factors, such as age, gender, activity level, and overall health.

A common guideline many people stick to is the “8×8” rule. This refers to drinking 8-ounce glasses of water per day, but again, this is different from person to person.

In conclusion, drinking enough water throughout the day is essential for our overall health and well-being, though the time we drink it shouldn’t be a major concern.

World’s most muscular woman shares how she looked before, and everyone is saying the same thing

33-year-old female bodybuilder Nataliya Kuznetsova, a world champion in arm lifting, bench press, and deadlift, is dubbed the world’s most muscular woman.

This Russian “she-Hulk” was once a skinny teenager. What’s most, she used to be bullied because of it. At the age of 14, she only weighted 40kg.

Her father believed that hitting the gym could help her boost her self-confidence, and that’s when her journey in the world of bodybuilding started.

“I was a timid little mouse when I was growing up,” she recalls.

These days, the world’s most muscular woman weighs between 246 and 275 pounds.

At 15, Nataliya became a champion in bodybuilding in her region of Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia.

“Just like everyone else I first went to the gym without a goal but after three months my trainer asked me if I wanted to take part in a bodybuilding competition.’’

That marked the start of her powerlifting career.

As per The Famous People, Nataliya won the 2014 Cup of Eurasia in Vologda, Russia, and was crowned the Cup Eastern Europe (GPA) Champion in 2015.

She has been setting records in powerlifting, deadlifting, and the NAP bench press.

“It’s not about being perfect—it’s about showing up, putting in the effort and getting the work done to get you were to envision yourself to be. Everyday is another opportunity to move forward a little more,” she wrote on her Facebook account.

Besides being the world’s most muscular woman, Nataliya has a degree from Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture. She has also taken part in the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia’s performance of Manon Lescaut.

This Russian “giant” is married to former bodybuilder Vladislav Kuznetsov, whom she calls her greatest support.

She’s bigger than him, but that doesn’t bother them.

“Our love story is quite modern. We met on the Internet, more precisely, on Odnoklassniki (a social network service in Russia). For a while, we only talked as friends,” she said in 2019.

Nataliya says her best advisor is the mirror.

It was on January 8, 2025, that the actor, best known as The Fonz from Happy Days, wrote on X, “There is an ARSONIST here in LA. May you be beaten unrecognizable!!! The pain you have caused!!!”

His post has been seen by over 2 million people.

At the time, the LAPD stated, “There’s no way to know at this moment exactly where and how the series of fires started, but an investigation is underway.”

While there were those who dubber Henry Winkler’s theory as a simple “rumbling,” the footage that was released later on showed he might be correct.

“People are lighting fires in otherwise non-burning urban areas of LA,” the viral clip that surpassed Winkler’s tweet with more than 6.5 million views combined, was captioned.

The video shows several people throwing flammable objects into a massive fire in Santa Monica, California, while onlookers watch in shock as the flames intensify and threaten nearby trees.

Sadly, certain citizens decided to add to the catastrophe with their actions.

“Disgusting. It feels like LA is under attack right now. Fires are everywhere. Stay safe!” someone wrote.

Thousands of homes, businesses, and landmarks have been destroyed, and according to reports, the death toll is 24.

The police reported that a suspect has been arrested in connection to the wildfires, but his identity has not been revealed.

As per Fox News, the arrest happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, near the area of Arcos Drive and Galendo Street. The residents in the area witnessed a man on a bicycle carrying a torch and trying to lit old Christmas trees and garbage cans on fire. Luckily, they managed to stop him and even zip-tie him.

They detained the man until police arrived at the scene.

Netizens reacted with outrage to the videos of arsonists creating additional chaos, demanding their swift prosecution.

“Arrest them all now,” someone wrote. “This feels like a third-world country.”

“Did you get the name of the person you saw lighting the fire? We need to know!” another asked.

“I can’t believe this!” someone else added. “This is so evil.”

“What’s with these arsonists? What are they trying to achieve?” a person asked.

“More than 99% chance there are bad actors going around taking advantage of the chaos.”

The reactions by people on the social media, along with the videos, show that Henry Winkler’s theory about arsonists has been true all along.

Woman scammed out of $850,000 after thinking she was dating Brad Pitt

A French woman was led to believe she was romantically involved with high-profile actor Brad Pitt, being scammed out of $850,000 along the way.

The 53-year-old interior designer, Anne, believed she was giving the money, 830,000 euros ($850,000), for the actor’s alleged cancer treatments.

It all started after Anne posted photos of herself while on a ski vacation and received a message from someone claiming to be the star’s mother.

The following day, she received yet another message from a social media profile that belonged to the actor himself, or that’s what she thought.

Speaking to the French media channel TF1, Anne revealed she didn’t question if the account really belonged to Brad Pitt because the man behind it appeared charming and “knew how to talk to women.”

“At first I said to myself that it was fake, that it’s ridiculous,” she explained on the channel’s Sunday broadcast. “But I’m not used to social media and I didn’t really understand what was happening to me.”

The person behind the scam used AI generated videos and images of the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star, and even proposed to her.

He promised to treat her with lavish gifts.

At the time of the scam, which started back in 2023, Anne was married to a millionaire husband.

Initially, she sent the scammer around $9,000 so that they could cover the custom expenses for the gifts they had bought for Anne.

The rest of the money, over $800,000 that she had received through her divorce settlement, was sent after the scammer sent Anne altered images of Brad Pitt at the hospital, claiming they needed funds for a kidney surgery.

Anne revealed that the impersonator told her they couldn’t access their own money due to the divorce with actress Angelina Jolie.

Her suspicions about the account, that she had at the beginning, faded with the images she had been receiving. She didn’t get suspicious even when the scammer never contacted her through a phone or a video call.

Her daughter tried to warn her about the scammer many times, but she wouldn’t listen.

When the news about Pitt’s relationship with Ines de Ramon made headlines, Anne started doubting the person behind the account was a scammer, but even then, they sent her fabricated news stating the actor was in fact involved with a “mysterious person.”

She finally realized she was lied to, but at that point, she had already been financially drained.

This poor woman who has been scammed out of $850,000 was forced to sell her furniture and move in with a friend.

Unfortunately, she attempted suicide three times and has since been hospitalized with severe depression.

It remains uncertain if she would be able to recover any of the money.

Anne’s story gained widespread attention, and while some said it was all her fault, others sympathized with her.

“Romance scams are the cruellest. It’s funny until you realize, more often than not it’s a vulnerable person that just wanted to be loved,” a person wrote.

“They are so mean and it’s awful that people make fun of the people who fall for them. Exploiting someone’s desire to be loved is obscene,” another added.

“Honestly, if you fall for this thinking, Brad Pitt, of all people, is going to randomly DM you. You kinda deserve it,” someone wrote.

Since Anne’s story “has resulted in a wave of harassment against the witness,” as per TF1 journalist Harry Roselmack, the channel has decided to take it off from the platform.

I gave my coat to a homeless woman; three years later, she returned with a gray case and a smile

Until my wife’s tragic passing, Christmas was the day of the year I loved the most. But when I lost Jenny, it turned into a sad reminder of a lost bond. Some three years after her loss, I noticed a fragile homeless woman on Christmas Eve. She was in need of help, and I gave her the groceries I had bought and my coat.

Whenever Christmas approached, Jenny and I went into a shopping frenzy for the party we organized for our family each year.

Three days before the dinner, Jenny called me on the phone to remind me to grab some wrapping paper with snowmen.

See, Jenny and I were high-school sweethearts. We didn’t have children, but still, our love was profound. I sometimes felt guilt that we couldn’t be parents, but we had each other, and that was more than enough. She was my world, and I was hers.

On that tragic night, as I was heading home with the wrapping paper and a bunch of other things for the party were looking forward to hosting, I received a call.

“Mr. Luke,” the person on the other side on the line said with a disturbed voice. “Your wife was involved in a car accident, you need to come to the hospital.”

Sadly, by the time I arrived, Jenny was already gone.

Out of nowhere, I found myself in a sterile hospital room, holding my loved one’s cold hand and crying my heart out.

Some two years later, I still couldn’t accept the reality and had a hard time accepting celebrating Christmas.

I was walking home, but I entered random stores, delaying the arrival in the apartment that felt oddly silent. Jenny’s absence could still be felt heavily, and I hated that feeling.

Wandering, I noticed a homeless woman in her forties, fragile and in need of help.

She wore mismatching clothes and sadness could be seen in her eyes.

I approached her and asked her if there was anything I could do for her. Shyly, she said no, but I knew she was cold because she was shivering. I handed her the errands I had purchased before and put my coat over her shoulders.

Offering kindness was something Jenny always practiced, and I wanted to do something nice for that woman as a tribute to my late wife who had a heart of gold.

The woman thanked me and I handed her a piece of paper with my address and phone number written on it. “Take this in case you need something,” I said and waved goodbye.

Three years passed by since that meeting that made me feel a sense of peace, when there was a knock on my door.

A beautiful woman, nicely dressed and with a smile on her face was standing at my doorstep.

“How can I help you,” I asked.

“It’s me, the homeless woman you helped three years ago before Christmas.”

I couldn’t believe my eyes. “But you look so different,” I said. And that’s when she shared with me her life story. She told me how her boyfriend took her business and left her on the streets. She was done fighting, but then she met me and I showed her kindness. It was then that she realized she wasn’t done looking for justice.

Eventually, her boyfriend was found guilty of forging documents. He ended up in prison and she got her business back.

In the gray case she had under one of her arms, she had a check on $50,000. She handed it to me and told me to continue spreading kindness.

I accepted it gladly, because I knew I could continue honoring my late wife by making a change in the lives of those in need.

Meteorologist who warned early about LA wildfires, saving hundreds, shares his next big concern

When he issued an early warning about the LA wildfires, meteorologist and climate scientist Edgar McGregor, who has since been dubbed a “hero,” has saved hundreds of lives.

On January 7, McGregor posted on the Facebook’s page Altadena Weather and Climate that people shouldn’t go to sleep but pack a bag and evacuate.

His post is believed to have reached a number of people who have actually listened to his advice.

Now, this meteorologist speaks of the warning sign he noticed before the LA wildfires broke and destroyed hundreds of homes, businesses, and important landmarks.

“I knew on 30 December that when this windstorm hit, the conditions would be carbon copies of the conditions that were on the ground in Lahaina, Hawaii, and in Paradise, which both were completely levelled and lost around a hundred people each,” the McGregot shared with People.

“I told people, if a wildfire breaks out, there’ll be a thousand homes burned down. This would be cataclysmic.

“I knew that that warning might’ve been a little bit excessive, but as it turns out, a thousand homes are not even a fraction of the loss, the ones that were lost.”

Ever since his post attracted plenty of attention, the meteorologist is sharing updates about what he things could happen next regarding the raging LA wildfires that have claimed the lives of 24 people.

He believes that the “immediate threat is over” for the most part. However, if there isn’t rainfall soon, Hollywood and Santa Barbara could “face disaster” within weeks.

“In the next couple of weeks, if we get another major windstorm, it could be Hollywood that faces disaster next. Santa Barbara. Any of these foothill towns. And then when it rains, we have the mudslides to get through.

“This is not over yet.”

McGregor added: “I knew this was coming. I certainly didn’t think January was the month it would occur, but I hope that I did my job in warning everybody.”

The first fire that left devastation behind, the Palisade fire, ignited on January 7. It triggered an emergency call to be sent to LA residents to get set for “a potential evacuation.”

Hours later, the Eaton Fire broke out in the Altadena area of LA. Sadly, more fires followed.

On January 10, the state of California deployed incarcerated men and women to help fight the fires. This state is one of 14 that uses inmates to help fight fires. They are not forced to, but decided to take part by their free will.

Those who serve prison for arson and se*ual offences can’t volunteer.

As per the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, over 40,000 acres have been burned in wildfires.

After our divorce, my ex ripped off the wallpaper because ‘he paid for it’ – karma got him

My husband’s infidelity went unpunished. He convinced me it was just a one-time thing, that it didn’t mean anything, and I forgave him because of the kids. The second time he did it, I filed for divorce, and trust me, it was a nasty one and ended with him ripping off the wallpaper from the entire house.

Dan and I had been married for eight years, welcoming two children together. But it seemed that when he cheated on me, he didn’t care about our marriage nor the kids we were raising together.

“Men do that, it’s not a big deal,” he said the second time I learned he was with another woman. But there was no more space for forgiveness.

Dan demanded that we split everything in half. But he couldn’t have the house, because it was my grandmother’s and I inherited it long before I met him.

“I have the right to that house,” he yelled at me during one of the mediation sessions we’ve went through.

However, he couldn’t have it, not whole, not a part of it. It was all mine.

When it came to the kids, I received a blow way worse than learning about Dan’s infidelity.

“She can have a full custody of the kids,” he said, “I can’t take care of them.”

It was as though they didn’t mean anything to him. His own children.

“What kind of a father are you?” I asked him, fuming.

But he didn’t care. He wanted to get out of that marriage burden free. Because that’s what he though of Jack and Emma, that they were a burden.

I asked Dan to pack his things first thing in the morning, but he said he needed a week, so I agreed.

In order to spare the kids from seeing their dad leave, I took them to my mom’s.

When we finally returned home, after many questions such as “Will daddy miss us?” that I didn’t know the answer to, we came to the most shocking scene.

Dan was still there, ripping of the floral wallpaper from the living room.

“Dan, what are you doing?” I asked, confused, while my kids watched and wondered what was happening.

“I paid for these, and now I’m taking them.”

I told the kids to go to their rooms, and that’s when Jack yelled. “Mom, my dinosaur wallpaper is missing.”

My world turned upside down. “Dan, are you insane?” I asked. “You skinned your kids’ home alive?”

But he didn’t care. What’s most, he grabbed the toaster, the coffee maker, and even the toilet paper when he finally left.

The first couple of months were hard. But over time, I managed to balance between my work, my kids, and the home. I even attended a book club and met wonderful women there.

Once, over a good book and even better wine, I shared with the girls at the book club the story about the ripped wallpaper. Somehow, after that much time, I found that funny instead of unsettling.

They couldn’t believe my ex really did that.

Casey, one of them said, “But you must be joking about the toilet paper. No one’s THAT crazy.” But she was wrong, because Dan was.

Months passed by and I received a phone call from Dan. “I’m getting married,” he bragged. I really had no idea why he even called and what did he expect from me to say.

“Congrats,” I uttered before hanging up the phone.

And then, one day, I met Dan on the street. He was holding hands with a woman. When he noticed me, he went into my direction on purpose.

I froze when I saw the woman he was with was Casey from the book club.

“Hey, Nora,” she waved. “This is Dan, my fiance,” she said excitedly.

“I know who he is, Casey, we go way back,” I said.

“But how do you know each other,” Casey asked, and that when I told her Dan was my ex.

“Your ex? Like in the one who ripped your wallpaper and took your toilet paper?”

Dan turned to her and said, “Casey, it’s not what it seems like. Let me explain.”

“Explain what Dan?” Casey asked. “You told me your ex wife took your kids and moved to another country. That she wouldn’t let you see them. You are such a liar, Dan. And ripping off your kids’ wallpaper? You are a walking red flag.”

She then turned to me and said, “Nora, I had no idea,” before taking her ring off and throwing it to Dan.

I just looked at Dan and though to myself, “Well, what goes around, comes around. It looks like karma is a real bit*h.”
