Oprah Winfrey gave birth to a son when she was just 14

0

Whether you like her or not, one thing about Oprah Winfrey we all have to agree about is that she is one hell of a show host.

However, her life hasn’t always been an easy one. She was forced to go thorough some harsh times when she was very young, but those experiences only made her stronger and more determined to succeed.

Oprah is in a relationship with her partner of many years, Stedman Graham. In fact, the two have been engaged for 29 years, but never said I do. Some magazines were speculating that the couple is planning to tie the knot at an intimate ceremony in their lavish Montesito home but they haven’t commented on the rumors.

The truth is that they have both said many times in the past that getting married could only complicate things and that if they had married, their relationship wouldn’t have lasted.

Oprah and Graham don’t have any children, and they are perfectly fine with their decision because that’s something they both wanted.

“He’s never demanding anything from me like, ‘Where’s my breakfast? Where’s my dinner?’ Never any of that, which I believed would have changed had we married,” Oprah Winfrey said of her fiancé, according to Yahoo.

“No question about it — we would not stay married, because of what that would have meant to him, and I would have had my own ideas about it. I have not had one regret about that.

“At one point in Chicago, I had bought an additional apartment because I was thinking, ‘Well, if we get married, I’m going to need room for children,’” she added.

Oprah said she believed motherhood requires responsibility and “sacrifice.”

“I realized, ‘Whoa, I’m talking to a lot of messed-up people, and they are messed up because they had mothers and fathers who were not aware of how serious that job is,’” she told People.

“I don’t have the ability to compartmentalize the way I see other women do. It is why, throughout my years, I have had the highest regard for women who choose to be at home with their kids, because I don’t know how you do that all day long. Nobody gives women the credit they deserve.”

At one point in her life, Oprah was pregnant and gave birth to a son. She was just 14 at the time. According to the host herself, the boy was born prematurely and died shortly after. She opened up about the experience when speaking at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, according to news.com.au.

“I did an interview with a reporter before I came to Australia and she said you should name the baby son who died,” Oprah reportedly told the audience of 15,000, as reported by People. “So I have named him; I had a little boy named Canaan,” she reportedly said, not specifying the spelling. “I did have a son. And I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life.”

The pregnancy was a result of sexual abuse that Oprah opened aboutin the past. “I was raped at 9 years old by a cousin, then again by another family member, and another family member,” Winfrey reportedly said, adding that she tried to hide her pregnancy at 14 because she felt so much “pain and shame.”

That experience, however, no matter how painful it was, made her the strong woman she is today.

No one signed a bullied boy’s yearbook; then one message changed everything

0

The school isn’t just a place where children gather knowledge on different subjects, but the place where they make new friends, some of which last a lifetime, and have fun.

Sadly, this isn’t the case with each child out there. Very often, it happens that certain students get bullied for one reason or another. Some of them have a hard time learning how to socialize and end up without friends as a result.

Cassandra Ridder is a mother of a 12-year-old boy named Brody. He is a fun and cheerful young man who happens to have different interests than those of his classmates. Unlike other kids his age, he’s into chess and fencing. Sadly, that is the reason why he gets teased a lot.

Image Credit: Cassandra Ridder | TODAY

One day, as she picked him up from school, Cassandra asked Brody about his yearbook as the teacher informed her that the students would be bringing yearbooks home.

However, just as she mentioned the word ‘yearbook,’ Brody’s eyes got filled with tears. Not knowing what was going on, Cassandra got worried. It was then that Brody took his yearbook out of his bag and handed it to her. When she saw it, this mother’s heart shattered into a million pieces. Except for Brody’s teacher’s message and few signatures, there was nothing written on it. Brody asked from each of the classmates to write him a message, but they all said no.

There was another message as well, the one Brody wrote to himself and which said: “Hope you make some more friends – Brody Ridder.”

Cassandra knew she needed to do something about her son, so she snapped a photo of Brody’s yearbook and shared it on the Facebook group where all the parents from the school are.

“My poor son. Doesn’t seem like things are getting any better. 2 teachers and a total of 2 students wrote in his yearbook. Despite Brody asking all kinds of kids to sign it,” she wrote on the Facebook page. “So Brody took it upon himself to write to himself. My heart is shattered. Teach your kids kindness.”

The following day, Brody called him mom from school and told her to Facebook a photo he sent to her. His yearbook was now filled with lots of messages from his classmates, as well as from eight grade students and eleven grade students.

Some of the messages were: “Hey dude, you’re freaking awesome. Stay that way.”
“Brody — you are the kindest little kid. You are so loved. Don’t listen to the kids that tell you different.”
“Brody — I hope you have an amazing summer! You’re worth it and you matter!”
“Hey buddy, never change, never put your head down.”

For Brody, that was the best day ever. He was over the moon because he made many new friends.

What’s most, he’s now looking forward to the next school year.

Single father who worked 4 jobs to provide for his family surprised after decades of hard work

0

Fathers are those special individuals whose place can never be replaced. They are always there when we need someone to turn to and that’s what makes them cruical figures in our lives.

Often times, while the moms are super busy doing chores and raising the kids, fathers are the ones who work multiple jobs in order to provide for the family.

One single father of four named Harley Harlington, a former marine and a survivor, has had a hard time providing for his four children. Most of his life, this incredibly loving and dedicated man worked four jobs at a time and never complained, despite having undergone a kidney transplant.

Of course, he never expected anything in return, what he wanted was for his children, as well as grandchildren, to have good lives and be happy.

Source: YouTube/ Screenshot

Knowing just how much he has sacrificed for them during his life, his children decided to surprise him as a way to thank him for his dedication and for never giving up on them.

“He’s been working [all] his life. He’s an ex-marine. He’s had a kidney transplant, and it took him forever to get that and [he’s] still going strong,” his granddaughter Kirsten said.

“He is a man that provides and gives to so many and never says no to anybody for anything. He’ll give the shirt off his back,” his daughter Robbin added.

The family sent a letter to the FOX 5 Surprise Squad telling them everything about Harley, and soon after, the Squad was on this man’s door. When they went to his place, together with Kirsten, the FOX 5 Surprise Squad had a bouquet of flowers. When Harley saw the cameraman, he was confused at first.

“As well as running a business, at one time I had four jobs. You know, just so I could put food on the table, presents under the Christmas tree,” Harley spoke of his troubles.

“Whatever you can, you do, even if all you have to give is an ear to listen. You do [it] without any expectation of any kind or reward. You do [it] from the heart.”

Harley was glad his family was aware of everything he has ever done for them, and that was his biggest reward. Of course, other surprises followed. Jose Gutierrez from a local auto body shop, who called Harley and “exceptional father,” offered to repair Harley’s vehicle’s air conditioner and heater.

The Surprise Squad handed Harley a box containing $1,500 in cash.

He was speechless. “Utterly speechless. I’ve never had anything like this in my life,” he said.

This was the best Father’s Day Harley could ever ask for.

“If you have nothing else in life, you have family. You always have family,” he said.

We would like to honor every father out there and make sure they know how much they mean to their children.

Cary Grant’s life, love, marriages, and alleged relationships with famous men

0

During 1910 and 1960, or the revolutionary years of Hollywood known as the golden age, many iconic artists rose to fame, among which director Alfred Hitchcock’s favorite actor Cary Grant.

This incredibly handsome man was married five times but his fate wasn’t sealed with any of the women he tied the knot with. Was it that he was unlucky in love, or the rumors about him being in intimate relationships with men were true? In fact, we can never know that for sure because Cary Grant’ sexuality is still one of the most discussed topics in Hollywood, even 34 years after his death.

Flickr / John Irving

Grant was born Archibald Alec Leach in Bristol, England, January 18, 1904, but changed his name to Cary Grant on the request of the Paramount studio which believed the name Leach wasn’t suitable for a lead actor.

However, before he got his contract and got to be part of the film industry, Grant’s life wasn’t an easy one. His mother had a mental illness and one day, she just disappeared from his life when he was 9 years old. His father, who brought another woman in the house and married, told Grant how his mother had died, but she was in fact placed in the Bristol Lunatic Asylum.

Not having his mother by his side, Grant turned into an insecure young man. “It gradually dawned on me that she was not coming back. She left a void in my life, a sadness of spirit that affected everything I did. I always felt my mother rejected me,” he confessed.

In search for a better life for himself, Grant ran away from home at the age of 13 and became part of the Bob Pender Troupe of comedians and acrobats. The troupe performed in America in 1920, and Grant found in this country his new home.

Once in Hollywood, the young and charming Grant caught the attention of many. He first starred in low-budgets films but it wasn’t long before he performed with famous names like Audrey Hepburn , Doris Day, Frances Farmer and Marlene Dietrich. There was something in Grant that made everyone love him. His energy fascinated many, especially his female colleagues.

Grant in 1930

“I had this great affection for him because I knew he understood me. It was an unspoken friendship, which was wonderful. He would open up his arms wide when he saw you, and hug you, and smile, and let you know how he felt about you,” Audrey Hepburn whom he played together in Charade said.

“His elegance, his wit, his true professionalism were outstanding, and I learned so much from just watching him work. As a person, apart from his talent, he was warm and affectionate and a joy to have as a friend.  He lived simply and was not tremendously social – a very private person.  He was also a keen and shrewd businessman; in fact there was no end to his talents. I treasure my memories of him,” actress Deborah Kerr, Grant’s co-star in Dream WifeAn Affair to Remember, and The Grass is Greener said of him.

Grant and Joan Fontaine in a publicity photo for Suspicion (1941)

The charmer was married five times.

In 1934, he married his first wife, actress Virginia Cherrill, whom he stayed with for only a year. In 1943, he tied the knot with Barbara Hutton, one of the richest women in the world at the time, but that marriage didn’t last long either. His marriage with actress Betsy Drake lasted for 12 years, and Grant married his fourth wife, Dyan Cannon, who was 33 years his junior in 1965. He and Dyan had daughter Jennifer together, the only Grant’s child. He became a father for the first time at the age of 62. However, the mother of his child didn’t seem to be the love of his life as he divorced her just two years later. Grant’s fifth and last wife was Barbara Harris, who was 47 years younger than the actor. He remained with her until he died in 1986.

“I was surrounded by all sorts of attractive girls. I was never able to form attachments. If I had paid more attention I might have found contentment in marriage,” Grant said, according to the Daily Mail.

However, the documentary “Women He Undressed” based on the memoirs of Hollywood designer Orry-Kelly, who was Grant’s life-long friend and the person the actor shared a home with when he first arrived in the States, implies that Grant had a relationship with the three-time Academy award winner.

Gillian Armstrong, the director of the documentary said of Kelly, “Orry refused to hide his sexuality with a fake marriage. He had such a great sense of personal integrity, and we wanted to capture that sense of bravery in the film.” Kelly was sometimes bothered with Grant showing interest in attractive blonde women but it was all fine because he would “always get back home to him.”

Grant was connected to another famous name, actor Randolph Scott.

The two were apparently only roommates and friends, and Candid photos showing them together in their shared home were just a result of a studio publicity campaign that intended to portray them as eligible bachelors, and not private photos.

In her memoirs, Grant’s daughter writes, “Can’t blame men for wanting him (…) And wouldn’t be surprised if Dad even mildly flirted back. (…) Dad somewhat enjoyed being called gay. He said it made women want to prove the assertion wrong.”

In 1999 this acting icon who gave the world extraordinary performances in iconic movies like Bringing Up Baby (1938), Only Angels Have Wings (1939), Suspicion (1941), Arsenic and Old Lace (1944), Notorious (1946), To Catch a Thief (1955), North By Northwest (1959) and more, ranked second (next to Humphrey Bogart) on the American Film Institute’s list of the 100 greatest film stars of all time. Two years after his death, Cary Grant received an honorary Oscar.

9-year-old with cancer meets baby sister before he dies: whispers 10 words that break parents’ hearts

0
The family of a boy named Bailey Cooper received the most devastating news a parent can ever hear. Their son had cancer. The sweet boy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2016. All of a sudden, his entire life was all about treatments and doctor visits. Everyone hoped for the best outcome, and for a short period of time, that’s exactly what they got. The cancer went into remission, but that didn’t last long. Bailey got back to school and everything seemed normal when the family was told that the cancer returned. Sadly, it meant more rounds of chemo and hospital visits. Again, the treatments seemed to work and Bailey started feeling better. Unfortunately, in August, came the heartbreaking blow: the cancer had returned yet again, and this time the prognosis was grim. “[The consultant] broke the news to us,” said Bailey’s father, Lee. “It was late Stage Four, and it was even worse. It was very aggressive.” The cancer had spread quickly. Doctors found lumps in Bailey’s chest, lungs, liver, and stomach. They gave him days, maybe weeks, to live. When he was told the heartbreaking news, Bailey was devastated, but he was also determined to live to meet his baby sister, who was due a few months later. Everyone prayed he would make it that long. Amazingly, the little boy proved to be a fighter. In November, he got to hold his newborn sister in his arms. His parents even let him choose her name: Millie. “He hugged her and did everything an older brother would do — change her, wash her, sing to her,” said Bailey’s mother, Rachel. After Millie’s birth, Bailey’s health deteriorated. Holding out hope that they would be able to celebrate Christmas together, Bailey’s parents encouraged him to make a list of the gifts he wanted. Showing the same selflessness he’d had throughout his battle, Bailey asked for presents he knew his younger brother, Riley, would enjoy. Just before Christmas, the extended family came to the house to say their goodbyes. As Bailey’s grandmother cried and told him she wished she could take his place, the young boy admonished her: “That is really selfish Nan,” he told her. “You have grandchildren to take care of.” When the cancer reached Bailey’s brain he enduring five painful days of radiotherapy. That’s when he told his family that it was time for him to go. “I want to stay but it’s my time to go, to become her guardian angel,” Bailey said, speaking of his baby sister. On December 22, Bailey became unresponsive as the cancer took over his tiny body. His family stayed by his side as he slowly slipped away. “We sat there hour by hour, watching him slip away,” Rachel said. “We read him stories and listened to his favorite music. “By 11:45 a.m. on Christmas Eve, we were by his bedside. We knew it was not going to be long. We told him ‘It’s time to go Bailey. Stop.’” At that moment, a single tear slipped out of Bailey’s eye. He took his final breath and peacefully passed away. Losing their child was devastating and it broke the family’s hearts into a million pieces, but they all knew that Bailey was finally at peace. “We are numb, but in a way also happy he is no longer in pain,” Lee said. They now try to follow the wishes of their young son, who was wise beyond his years. “He told us in our last family meeting: ‘You’re only allowed to cry for 20 minutes,” Rachel said. “You have to take care of Riley and Millie.” This boy’s story is a heartbreaking and tragic one, but his courage, strength, and positivity in the face of pain and hardship continue to inspire people around the world. While his family grieves his loss, they know his light and legacy will continue to live on. Were you touched by Bailey’s courage, positivity, and wisdom? Then share it!  Peace and Love Bored Daddy

A woman asked on Facebook what was the bizarre “egg” that appeared on the ceiling of her room

The Internet is a place full of mysteries and wonders. There’s nothing you can’t find there. It only takes a single click for an entire world of information of different kind to appear on your screen.

Well, the Interent is also the place where people ask for help.

Recently, a woman posted a photo online which spread around like a wildfire. What could be seen on the viral photo was an egg-like thing clinging to the room’s ceiling. Along with the photo, the woman asked: “Does anyone have any idea what that is?”

She explained that it was spooted in the room of her friend’s son but they had no idea how long it was there?

She also asked whether someone could tell her what was the family supposed to do about it.

As expected, different people came up with different explanations. Having in mind that the question was posted in an Australian Facebook group, most of the commenters assumed that the clinging ball was a spider’s nest.

“If we were billions of years ago, I would have claimed it was a dinosaur egg,” one person wrote. “My husband worked with the rodent and believes it’s an egg-filled spider’s nest. You can vacuum it and then spray it heavily with insecticide,” someone else added.

“I advise a protective suit, insect spray, and fire, stab him and see what happens, at least you’ll be ready.”

Eventually, one of the ihabitanst of the place where the huge ball emerged got the courage to stab it as advised. When they discovered what it truly was, many were left speechless.

Believe it or not, it wasn’t a nest, but expanding foam used on the house’s roof that had pushed through the ceiling.

Dad’s new wife tries to ruin the entire wedding, but bride’s mom has the perfect plan to stop her

Divorce complicates everything, especially when children get involved. Things become more difficult when one partner finds new love. It gets entirely messy, for example, when the husband’s new wife is significantly younger. As a young woman named Jennifer prepared for her wedding, she knew things could get complicated because of her divorced parents.
Recently, her dad found a new wife around her age. To make it even worse, her new stepmom wanted to make her mother’s life more difficult.
Turns out, Jennifer’s mom can hold her own. You have to hear her hilarious story of how she got revenge. With her wedding day nearing, nothing could make Jennifer less excited. Although her parents’ divorce stressed her out often, she cleared her mind of it for the big day. Her mom had a beautiful dress for her daughter’s wedding. In fact, everything went very smoothly. One week later, Jennifer shockingly found out her father’s 25-year-old wife bought the exact same dress as her mother. Clearly opposed to it, Jennifer asked her stepmom to return the dress. The young wife refused to get a new dress.
“No way! I look amazing in this dress, and I’m wearing it,” she replied. “Your mother will have to change hers.”
Expecting her to be heartbroken, Jennifer broke the news to her mom. Instead of being angry, her mom responded in a way that stunned Jennifer.
“Don’t worry, darling. I’ll just find a new dress. It’s your special day and I will not let this get in the way,”her mother responded.
They set out to find another equally as beautiful dress. Just before the store closed, her mom found the perfect new dress. After buying the dress, the two went out for dinner.
While they were waiting for their meal, Jennifer asked her mom, “When do you think you’ll return the other dress? You don’t really have another reason to wear it anytime soon.” Her mother responded, “Of course I do! I’m going to wear it for the rehearsal dinner the night before your wedding.”
What sweet revenge! I guess the stepmother learned her lesson. Please SHARE this story with your family and friends on Facebook! Bored Daddy

Meghan Markle once ‘couldn’t imagine life’ without 1st husband who ‘worshipped the ground she walked on’

0

Meghan Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry some six years ago and it’s safe to say that they are still one of the most famous couples in the world. From being a Deal or No Deal girl for many years, to landing the role of Rachel Zane in the smash hit Suits and then becoming part of the British Royal Family, Markle’s life went through drastic changes over the years. Today, she and Harry settled in California and are parents of two, Archie and Lilibet Diana.

But before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, the actress was married to Trevor Engelson, whom she first met in 2004.

So, what do we know about Meghan Markel’s first husband?

Shutterstock/Kathy Hutchins

According to IMDB, he was born on October 23, 1976, in Great Neck, Long Island, New York, and attended the University of Southern California’s School of Communications.

He entered the world of film working as a production assistant and then worked his way to become a film producer. Over the years, he’s worked on a number of projects such as the 2006 film Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson. He has also been involved in productions such as License to Wed and All About Steve.

After dating for seven years, Meghan and Trevor tied the knot at a ceremony which took place at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios in Jamaica. The celebration lasted for three days during which around 100 guests attended parties, drinking games at the beach, brunches, and even a wheelbarrow race.

While she was working on Deal or No Deal, Trevor apparently never visited her on set, which wasn’t the case with the rest of the girls, according to the author Andrew Morton’s book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess. Apparently, he was way too busy with his professional life to be able to visit her during the shooting of the quiz and even skipped out on travelling with her during her downtime because of it.

“They were driven individuals, Trevor as busy, if not more so than his girlfriend,” royal biographer Andrew Morton wrote in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

“It was also noticeable that unlike the boyfriends and husbands of her Deal or No Deal sisters, Trevor never visited Meghan on set.

“It was so unusual that his absence was commented on by the other girls.”

Michael Kovac/WireImage

“However, there were plenty of other celebrities, mainly sports stars, who dropped by, some clearly trying to get up close and personal with the girls,” he added.

The year Meghan tied the knot with Trevor, 2011, was the same year she became part of Suits. The series was mainly shot in Toronto, Canada, and clearly, she spent a lot of time there.

“Whether she wanted to admit it to herself or not, Meghan who once said she couldn’t imagine life without Trevor by her side, was now building a new world for herself,” Andrew Morton wrote in Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.

“As Toronto was becoming more her home than LA, the dynamics in their relationship subtly altered.”

Michael Kovac/WireImage

Meghan and Trevor decided to put a stop on their marriage just two years later, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time.

“Trevor was devastated at the split,” an insider told The Sun in 2017.

“She suddenly had no more time for him. Meghan broke Trevor’s heart, pure and simple. He is still in love with her and so the revelation of her new relationship with Harry has hit him hard.”

In the book Meghan and Harry: The Real Story, author Lady Colin Campbell wrote that after moving to Toronto, Meghan began hanging out with celebrities, among them celebrity stylist Jesica Mulroney. These new friendships sort of distanced her from Trevor.

“Trevor had always been laidback where she was controlled and controlling,” Lady Colin Campbell wrote.

“He would arrive for appointments slightly late and disheveled, his shirt out of his trousers and maybe a spot of food on his lapel, while the perfectly contained and self-possessed Meghan was always immaculately turned out.”

Shutterstock/lev radin

Meghan’s childhood friend alleged that at the time she reached a celeb status, Meghan thought her husband was “embarrassing” for her image.

“According to Nikki’s interpretation of Meghan’s motives, having found herself a new and more ‘classy’ circle of friends, she did not wish to be bogged down with her embarrassing misfit of a husband or even her old and less Establishment circle of friends,” Colin Campbell further wrote in her book.

What is interesting is that Meghan never spoke about her divorce publicly. Trevor didn’t give any comments as well. Now, however, autor Tom Bower, who is set to publish a new book about Meghan Markle, promised his fans some fresh interviews with Trevor.

“This particular individual would truly have a remarkable story because, after all, he would have first-hand experience of what it was like, yes what it was like, to be married the first time around to the actress from Suits,” Bower shared with Wales Online.

What do you think of Meghan’s first husband?
