Teen dies only 90 minutes after eating cookie

0

Every parent strives to offer their kids the best life they deserve. The sad reality is that many times we don’t have full control of the things that happen. That was the case with the family of 15-year-old Alexi, who suffered a tragic death and left her parents heartbroken.

Kellie Travers-Stafford took to Facebook to share her daughter’s story in hopes to prevent such tragedies happening to other children, as well as adults who suffer from food allergies.

Alexi was allergic to peanuts all her life, and everyone did their best to keep her out of the reach of any food containing the ingredient.

On June 25, 2018, Alexi went to a friend’s house. They all had lots of fun, until that faithful moment she decided to have a chocolate cookie. The girl has seen and eaten the A chewy Chops Ahoy chop cookies before and was certain she could have one. Unfortunately, these ones contained peanut butter, and Alexi failed to notice that until it was too late.

The package she took the cookie from, that contained Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, was very similar to the one she knew was a simple cookie.

She didn’t notice the difference that said of the presence of peanut butter.

After she ate the cookie, she felt tingling in her mouth and knew something wasn’t right. Alexi rushed home, hoping her parents would help her, but she soon went into anaphylactic shock.

She was given two Epipen Auto-Injectors until the paramedics arrived, but it didn’t help a great deal. Only 90 minutes after the fatal decision to have that cookie, Alexi stopped breathing.

“As a mother who diligently taught her the ropes of what was okay to ingest and what was not, I feel lost and angry because she knew her limits and was aware of familiar packaging, she knew what ‘safe’ was,” the grieving mother wrote.

She continued, “A small added indication on the pulled back flap on a familiar red package wasn’t enough to call out to her that there was ‘peanut product’ in the cookies before it was too late.”

The post was shared in order to raise awareness and make food factories more aware of the customers with food allergies and make their design more clear.

There are people out there who say that Chips Ahoy, and the Nabisco brand as a whole shouldn’t take a portion of blame for the incident. It is the customers who should be more careful and read the ingredients before deciding whether they should or shouldn’t consume the products.

Nabisco took the time to share their thought on the matter, writing:

“We take allergens very seriously. Chewy Chips Ahoy! Made w/ Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups packaging clearly shows that it contains peanuts through words and visuals. Package color indicates Chewy, Chunky, or Original. Consumers should always read the label for allergy information”, they wrote on social media.

Twitter user, Keren Deberg, wrote how she doesn’t believe the packages clearly state they contain peanut butter.

“That is not clear at all!! I agree we should all read labels but your customers include children and you should be smarter and care more about their safety. Take a look at this picture. It is not very clear. After what happened in Florida, what are you going to do about it?”

Alexi’s death could have been avoided and it is really a tragic accident. Her parents do their best to warn others to be as careful as possible in order to avoid anything similar happening in the future.

Do you stand with Kellie that brands should better distinguish between their packages? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

Meghan Markle has been issued six-word warning over finding her own passion in life

0

Two years after the famous Megxit, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties and left Britain for America, it looks like they settled down nicely and are building their lives away from the Firm the way that suits them and their children best.

New reports, however, claim that Harry and Meghan initially wanted one year away from the UK before returning to royal life but things didn’t turn out as planned.

When they announced their decision to step down from their royal duties, the spokesperson of Harry and Meghan said in a statement: “As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role.”

However, Queen Elizabeth herself had “written confirming that in stepping away from the work of the Royal Family, it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service,” the announcement by the palace said. It added: “While all are saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family.”

According to Meghan, before the split with the Firm, she and Harry allegedly asked for a permission to move to another country in the Commonwealth, perhaps South Africa or Canada. However, the answer was a resounding no.

“Anything to just … because just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy. So we go, ‘Okay, fine, let’s get out of here. Happy to,’” Meghan recalled during a recent interview with The Cut.

Following the Queen’s funeral, Harry and Meghan were quick to return to Montecito because they missed their children as crazy. The couple spent two weeks away from Archie and Lilibet, the longest amount of time they’ve been apart from their children.

Once in the States, they returned to their daily commitments.

In an attempt to earn their own money and not depend on Britain’s taxpayers, Harry and Meghan signed a lucrative deal with Spotify. Meghan then launched her podcast Archetypes, described as a podcast where “we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”

However, she still hasn’t posted any new episodes, except for a Christmas special that went on air some two years ago, and another one posted recently on the position and portrayal of Asian women on film.

Among the rest, Meghan ‘accused’ Hollywood actor Mike Myers, famous for the Austin Powers films, and director Quentin Tarantino, for his movie Kill Bill saying they portrayed Asian women in a very stereotypical way, presenting caricatures of women of Asian descent.

Allegedly, Meghan postponed other episodes because of the Queen’s death and the period of mourning.

Among the rest, the Sussexes launched their non-profit organization Archewell, which “drives systematic cultural change across all communities.”

Harry, on the other hand, had previously founded the famous Invictus Games, first held in 2014. It is a sporting event for “wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.”

At its heart, the Invictus Games is about empowering every single person around the world. It’s a worldwide display of resilience, determination, and community for which each of us can draw inspiration,” Harry said in a statement.

When he paired with BetterUp, a mental health firm, the Prince said, “I couldn’t think of a better new partner for the Invictus Games Foundation than the mental fitness platform BetterUp. The mind is like a muscle: it needs to be honed, trained, rehabbed, and coached. The men and women I served with understand this, the Invictus community knows this, and now the world is beginning to see it too.”

As Meghan is working hard on her podcast in order to create quality content, royal expert and former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown believes that the Duchess is yet to find her thing.

“I think Meghan does really need to find the thing she cares about the most and develop her own sort of brand that isn’t just a grievance brand, that is actually something we recognize as hers,” Brown said.

“It’s hard to find that, and I think she hasn’t yet found that but I think she could if she rows back from focusing always on what didn’t work.”

Brown then issued a warning to Meghan, saying, “It’s much harder than it looks.”

We truly wish Harry and Meghan to be successful at whatever they do in the future.

Royal fan Sharon Osbourne makes bold claim about Meghan Markle

0

Last year, host Sharon Osbourne was ‘forced out’ of the show The Talk for standing up for Piers Morgan and the comments he made about Meghan Markle, calling her a liar among the rest.

Although she didn’t agree with everything he said about Markle, Sharon did confess she’s not fond of the Duchess.

In her new documentary Sharon Osbourne: To Hell and Back, the star of the reality show The Osbournes opened up about the incident and said, “I’ve never met her in my life. But she mixes with the royalty of showbiz, put it that way.”

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic

Further, Osbourne discussed her feelings about Markle and explained, “I think that you have to be over a certain bank balance for her to talk to you. It’s all the wealthiest of the [wealthy] in the industry that she hangs out with. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all. God bless you. But she does tell some porky pies [lies]. Put it this way, she’s surrounded by very, very, like how can I do this politely? It’s the cream of the cream in Hollywood music, film, everything she’s surrounded by… She’s hardly a victim.”

The media has always been obsessed with the royals, and it seems like they tend to treat royal newcomers harsh, but in the case of Meghan Markle, everyone believes the treatment was far worse than harsh. It was one of the reasons for what the media dubbed ‘Megxit,’ when Harry and Meghan decided to leave the royal family behind and step down from their royal duties.

At the time, the Queen herself issued an official response, which was a rare personal address from the monarch.

“Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family,” the Queen wrote.

The world got the idea that there were no hard feelings, but everyone assumed that the real ordeal was about to take place, and they were right. What followed was the infamous all-tell interview the Sussexes gave Oprah in which they made numerous accusations against the Firm.

Then-Prince Charles even asked from Harry not to drag the family name through the mud. Even today, the relationship between Harry and his family is a rocky one, although it has been reported recently that both he and Meghan offered olive branches to the King and are trying to rebuild the bridges.

These believes are even more present now that the Queen is dead and Charles took over the throne.

Sharon Osbourne was among the mourners who waited in line to view the Queen’s coffin lying in state. Cameras caught her showing emotions as she was hugging other mourners. “I love the Queen and I came over for this because I’m a royalist and I love the royal family,” she told ITV News.

Osbourne spoke of her admiration for the late Queen and the royal family and said that one thing that stood out about them is stability.

“No matter what would change in this country and, you know, everything changes in life but she never did. And it was just wonderful to have her.”

Speaking to Piers Morgan on his Talk TV show, Sharon Osbourne sais, “It’s unsettling and I know the mourning will go on and on and on for our Queen, people will never stop mourning for her.”

2 young brothers killed in crash while out together, leaving mom devastated – ‘a part of me died that night’

0

Ashley Kauffman suffered an unimaginable loss when both her sons, 13-year-old Kayden Compton and 10-year-old Braydon Kauffman, died in a car crash when the Ford F-550 their father was driving rolled over and crashed into a tree.

Braydon was a fifth-grader at McGregor Elementary School, and his big brother Kayden, was an eighth-grader at STEAMM Academy in Canton, Ohio.

The boys’ mother has always been overly protective of her sons and didn’t even allow them to ride bikes on the street like the rest of the children. They were her entire world and with their passing, a piece of her died.

Kayden and Braydon were loving and caring. When their mom was diagnosed with cancer and needed to undergo chemo treatments, they were always there for her, supporting her and helping around the house. They also took care of their younger siblings and were the best big brothers anyone could ever wish for.

On October 1, 2022, the brothers left the house together, not knowing they were going to their death. At around 9:22 p.m., authorities were informed of a car crash. They rushed to the scene and came across a horrific sight. The two boys were already dead. It was reported they both died at the scene. The driver suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.

In a Facebook post in which she spoke of the moment she was told her boys died, devastated Ashley wrote, “a part of me died that night.”

People living near the place where the crash took place rushed to offer help, but as there was nothing they could do, they simply waited for the first responders, who came with the jaws of life, to arrive.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ashley with the funeral costs. The amount of money raised exceeded the $17,000 expected to be raised.

Heartbroken Ashley, who is hoping the justice would be served, wrote on Facebook that a witness stepped forward and revealed that the driver of the vehicle was under influence while driving. “Thank you to the witness who felt enough pain & sorrow for my innocent babies, to tell the truth,” she wrote.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Kayden and Braydon. May they rest in peace.

Angelina Jolie has allegedly disinherited five of her six children

0

The divorce and the lengthy custody battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is remembered as one of the nastiest ones in recent times when it comes to celebrity couples. When she filed for divorce, she stated that she questioned her husband’s parenting method claiming Pitt allegedly attacked Maddox during a fight.

At the time, the Los Angeles County Department of Children pursued an investigation, but no charges were filed.

Today, although everything that surrounded the process of the divorce is in the past, Jolie hasn’t forgotten which of her six children sided with her and never left her side. According to Radar, the Maleficent star laid out the details of her estate and revealed she’s leaving her $116 million fortune to her son Maddox.

This news allegedly angered her ex-husband who said Jolie is treating Maddox as her ‘Golden Child’ as she’s leaving the rest of the children out.

“Brad is in an incredible rage and ready to be tied over Angie’s moves,” and insider told the magazine. “Maddox took his mother’s side in the divorce, and now she’s made him the head of her movie empire.”

Pitt isn’t happy with Jolie’s decision to exclude Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and the 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne from her will.

Allegedly, Maddox has already been named the CEO of her movie studio.

If this rumor happens to be true, it is very likely the ex-spouses will continue engaging in brutal battles concerning the welfare of their children in the future.

Every night, this woman slept next to her pet snake until something horrible happened

0

People have always cared for animals and kept them as pets. And as it is most likely that they opt for cats and dogs, some people decide to open the doors to their hearts and homes for unusual pets such as fennec foxes, chinchillas, spiders, and snakes among the rest.

The issue with keeping a wild animal as a pet is exactly that, they are wild in nature an their instinct will always prevail.

The following story has been circulating on Facebook for some time now, but it’s always a nice idea to get back to it.

Namely, a woman was keeping a python as a pet for some time. She loved being around it and even let it sleep with her at night.

Over time, however, the snake stopped eating. Weeks have passed by and as the owner got concerned for the pet, she took it to the vet’s to see what the problem might be.

After a thorough checkup, the vet concluded that there was nothing wrong with the python. On the contrary, it was perfectly healthy.

He then went on to ask the woman some questions. Among the rest, she said that the snake, which was 7 feet long, would snuggle really close to her and stretch.

Hearing that, the vet said, “Ma’am your snake is not sick, he has been preparing to eat you. He’s been sizing you up everyday so he knows how big he has to be, and not eating so he has enough room to digest you.”

This came as a shock to the poor woman, but not much is known whether she gave her pet away or simply decided to keep it and sleep in a separate room.

According to Cornell Professor Dr. Harry W. Greene, it only takes a couple of minutes for a python to coil around their prey and squeeze them until they’re dead by preventing blood going to the brain and the lungs from expanding.

Royal engineer recalls moment King Charles’ could have died on live television

0

The new King and Queen of England have their hands full as they perform numerous royal duties every single day. Just recently, the head of the monarchy and his darling wife visited Dunfermline, Scotland, for its 950th anniversary.

Then, they attended a reception at Victoria and Albert Halls in Ballater, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, near the Royal Family’s Scottish residence and used the opportunity to thank the residents for their immense support during the tragic event of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

As Her Majesty’s coffin made its way to Edinburgh from Balmoral Castle, where she was laid in rest at the St. Giles’ Cathedral, around 25,000 people lined the streets across the city and county to pay their respects to the monarch who reigned for impressive 70 years.

As they do all in their power to serve the country and its people the way Queen Elizabeth did, Charles and Camilla ditch certain traditions along the way.

It has been reported that the Queen Consort will not be needing ‘ladies-in-waiting,’ because she has already hired two brilliant secretaries when she first set up an office in the past.

King Charles seems to be doing the same; he’s skipping a tradition as well.

When his mother was crowned in 1954, over 8,000 guests were in attendance at the coronation, and 129 nations were officially represented. King Charles is now allegedly planning to significantly reduce that number on his coronation which is planned to take place next year.

Besides numerous royal duties, over the years, King Charles has been involved in a number of charities. For one, he started the Prince’s Rainforest Project in 2007 to raise awareness of deforestation. At the same time, he’s been the president of the WWF in the UK and even started his own organic farm and garden at Highgrove Gardens.

Unfortunately, becoming King of the UK and 14 other countries — known as Commonwealth realms, Charles needs to step down from projects that are close to his heart.

Even as a Prince, Charles has been heavily involved in carrying royal duties, but one particular occasion, during a live television broadcast, could easily turn into a tragedy.

It was in October of 1982 that Henry VIII’s ship, The Mary Rose, which sank during a battle with the French fleet between the Isle of Wight and Great Britain, was excavated from the ocean’s bottom after centuries. Being a huge lover of history and ships, Charles made sure he watched the process live.

“I remember my days of diving on the ship out in the Solent in the most impossible conditions, it was like swimming in a kind of lentil soup, you couldn’t see anything, or so I thought, until it was under your nose,” Charles recalled when meeting volunteers and fundraisers at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Hampshire in 2014.

“What I could never get over was the sheer expertise of the archaeologists operating under water.”

Shutterstock

Despite the bad conditions and the technical difficulties, then-Prince Charles encouraged the workers to continue with their work.

“I will never forget the almighty crash as the chains came down, and I thought it was all my fault. I think it was worth taking the risk as we have this truly remarkable example of a Tudor warship which is unique,” Charles said.

Charles examined the vessel up close as it was lifted from the seabed. He was supposed to board the remains of the vessel. However, security was critical and the idea was ruled out as too dangerous.

At that moment, the giant crane called Tog Mor, which is Gaelic for “big lift,” collapsed and the frame broke away and almost smashed the ship’s hull, close to where the King would have been standing.

Shutterstock

“You know, the future king of England could have died live on TV, which I think would have changed the whole aspect of the recovery, to be honest. Everything went silent. There wasn’t a whisper. No one spoke for what felt like minutes, was probably ten seconds, but just no one moved,” Royal Engineer Jack Frost who was involved in the operation said in the documentary Raising the Mary Rose: The Lost Tapes.

Another person who helped build the crane also spoke of the incident and said, “I remember when the frame broke the water, and after only about half an hour, there was a loud crack. Everything stopped, and everyone at the office panicked. We immediately thought the crane had failed.”

Luckily a tragedy was avoided and the ship was eventually saved.

The story behind Bing Crosby & David Bowie Christmas Special

0

Without a doubt, Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy is one of the best, if not the best Christmas classics, and the story behind the way this song came to life and everything that preceded crooner Bing Crosby and icon David Bowie’s duet is quite impressive to say the least.

At the time, Crosby was doing his Christmas special, Bing Crosby’s Merrie Olde Christmas, and producers wished Bowie, who was an international super star, to be part of it. In order to persuade him to do so, they agreed to promote the video of the glam rocker’s latest single, Heroes, during the broadcast.

This didn’t mean much to Bowie, but it certainly meant to him that his mom was a huge fan of Crosby who was drawn to Bowie because of his children. Namely, Crosby’s son and daughter dreamed of seeing their father perform together with Bowie, so it was a win-win situation.

The legendary duet between Crosby and Bowie took place on September 11, 1977.

However, not everything was smooth at first. It turned out that Crosby wasn’t too impressed with Bowie’s appearance, his lipstick and his earring among the rest.

“The doors opened and David walked in with his wife,” Mary, Crosby’s daughter, recalled several years ago. “They were both wearing full-length mink coats, they had matching full makeup, and their hair was bright red. We were thinking, Oh, my God!”

The performance almost didn’t happen.

Just as the two got cozy around the grand piano and started singing Little Drummer Boy, Bowie turned to the producers, looking a bit bored, and asked if there was anything else that they could sing.

At that moment, composer Ian Fraser “didn’t know quite what to do.” But as true professionals, Fraser, along with co-writers Buz Kohan and Larry Grossman, decided to improvise and create an original song, and that’s how Peace on Earth was born.

It only took around an hour for these great names in the music industry to rehearse the masterpiece which is until this day considered a Christmas classic.

Unfortunately, Crosby passed away of massive heart attack not long after his Christmas special was recorded. It aired posthumously in the U.S. at the end of November, and on Christmas Eve in England.

The song still continues to inspire. To listen to it go to the video below.
