Surgeon explains why bowel cancer is striking healthy 39-year-old woman — and others like her

0

The number of people under the age of 50 diagnosed with bowel cancer has increased in recent years and researchers believe it has a lot to do with shift in environmental, lifestyle, or possibly genetic factors.

Historically, this form of cancer was typical for the older population, but as more and more young people are diagnosed with it, researchers are rethinking screening recommendations and are looking for different treatment approaches.

Danni Duncan, a 39-year-old woman working as a health and fitness coach, was diagnosed with bowel cancer and underwent a procedure during which her tumor has been removed along with her appendix and part of her intestine.

She underwent the surgery just ten days following her diagnosis.

Taking to Instagram, where she has over 52,000 followers, she explained that she experienced dizziness and exhaustion but didn’t pay much attention until she underwent a colonoscopy for feeling “bloated.”

The results showed the presence of a 2cm malignant tumour at the top of her bowel.

What shocked many was that Danni had been leading a very healthy lifestyle.

“I am the freaking healthiest person I know, I do more things for my health than anyone I know,” she said in a social media post. “It’s not genetic, it’s obviously not lifestyle. The last four years I have eaten 80-90 per cent whole foods, we use non toxic products at home, I don’t drink much alcohol, exercise every day and eat a high fibre diet.”

She has also shared her surgeon’s thoughts on why someone as healthy as her would get affected by this form of cancer.

“Bowel cancer takes 15 to 20 years to grow, from when it’s first cell. Well, I was born in 1985. When I was in the surgeon’s appointment on Monday, he said something so interesting,” she explained.

“He said, ‘This is what’s happened – chemicals in your foods, carcinogens through red meat, burnt, barbecued, bacon, ham – they are environmental factors which we got exposed to in the 90s and we didn’t know the long-term effects until now’.”

Since learning this, Danni felt the urge to share the information with her followers.

“It does matter what you feed your kids,” the Melbourne mom continued. “Stop feeding your kids things that are not good for them, that are processed, that are full of s***.

“You might think they’re fine, they’re fine now – but what are you really doing to your kids? What detriment are you doing to your kids later on, without even realising it?”

Danni’s cancer has been stage 2, but a more aggressive form of it. It has since spread to lymph channel, meaning it is on its way to her lymph nodes.

The treatment for stage 2 of this form of cancer includes both surgery and chemotheraphy.

Unearthed letter reveals how Princess Diana felt just days into her marriage

0

Two days after her marriage to then-Prince Charles, Princess Diana penned a letter to Mark Simpson, a footman at Buckingham Palace, revealing her true feelings about her stay at the Palace.

The letter, which dates back to July 31, 1981, gives an insight of her relationship with her husband at its early stage.

“Dear Mark, I just wanted to thank you for all your kindness + patience you’ve showed towards me since I moved into B.P. My stay was made so much easier by your company as it was so terribly lonely + we had so many laughs for that I can’t thank you enough. Do hope you were able to enjoy Wednesday + that you liked my dress?” the People’s Princess wrote.

“I’m off to Britainia tomorrow, what with all those men around. I will have to keep a watchful eye on Evelyn!”

Evelyn Dagley was Diana’s personal dresser, so she appears to be alluding to her in this letter.

“The bad news is that I haven’t eaten any cereal — sob. How am I going to cope without my bowls of cereal….[smiley face]. A large thank you for being you — Much love, Diana.”

This letter by Princess Diana is part of a Julien’s Auctions collection, along with other notes and letters to her loved ones, as well as personal items once owned by the beloved princess.

Speaking to People Magazine, Martin Nolan, co-founder and executive director of Julien’s Auction, explained, “It’s like a couple of days after she got married. She’d been living in Buckingham Palace as she was transitioning from being a normal person to being a royal and the future queen.”

“So she had to learn from the Queen Mother and the Queen about curtsying and all that. But she had fun with Mark Simpson, the footman. And he was about the same age, a little bit older than her,” Nolan added. “And she talks here, it speaks of how she was lonely when she was in the palace.”

Diana married Charles on July 29, 1981, in London.

They announced their separation in 1992 and finalized their divorce in August 1996, a year before Diana’s tragic passing aged 36.

Former President Bill Clinton speaks up

0

In an interview on CBS News Sunday Morning, former US President Bill Clinton shared his thoughts on Trump’s governing style, dubbing it as unprecedented in modern US history.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before in my lifetime – somebody that says, ‘Whatever I want should be the law of the land. It’s my way or the highway,'” he told CBS. “And most Americans don’t agree with that.”

He also criticized Trump for trying to undermine court rulings and condemned him for targeting law firms that oppose him.

“That ain’t America. We’ve never done that. The whole purpose of having a legal system is to have both sides be heard,” Clinton said.

Further, he said he believes Trump’s aggressive rhetoric may have affected his public image.

“I like to think that he’s paid a price for this – you know, name-calling and throwing his weight around… I think it’s made him less popular.”

Former President Bill Clinton added how he believes only elections where the Democrats win back the House of Representatives in 2026 can change the course of Trump’s agenda.

“Look, only elections are going to change this,” Clinton said. “Someone needs to stand up and say, ‘Damn it, what we have in common matters more. We cannot throw the legacy of this country away. We cannot destroy other people’s trust in us.'”

Former President Bill Clinton also shared his opinion on Original Sin, a recent book about Joe Biden that alleged signs of cognitive and physical decline were visible to those around him.

Clinton said he hadn’t read the book but he didn’t feel Biden was unfit to serve as president.

“I thought he was a good president. The only concern I thought he had to deal with was, could anybody do that job until they were 86?” Clinton said. “And we’d had several long talks. I had never seen him and walked away thinking, He can’t do this anymore. He was always on top of his briefs.

“I haven’t read the book. And I saw President Biden not very long ago, and I thought he was in good shape. But the book didn’t register with me ’cause I never saw him that way.”

Reporter shot by police while filming LA riots

0

Lauren Tomasi, a US reporter for Australia’s 9News was reporting from the scene where violent clashes took place at downtown LA when she got shot by a rubber bullet.

The protests were in response to President Donald Trump’s controversial immigration crackdown, with some protesters setting vehicles on fire near the Metropolitan Detention Centre.

In the morning, only small groups of protesters took the streets, but by the afternoon, thousands rioters joined in and the situation escalated quickly.

At the time Tomasi was reporting live from 257 E Temple Street, she explained that the LAPD was “After hours of standing off, this situation has now rapidly deteriorated, the LAPD moving in on horseback, firing rubber bullets at protesters, moving them on through the heart of LA.” Moments later, she got shot.

A bystander cried out, “You just f**king shot the reporter.”

As a passerby came up to see if she was okay, she said, “I’m good,” and kept calm.

A footage by Nine News showed that an officer aimed at the reporter deliberately when he shot the rubber bullet.

“He aims right at her,” one person posted on X. “No one in between them. No chance of it being a missed shot. A purposeful close-range shot at an unarmed journalist, who was walking away.”

The network issued a statement, writing, “Lauren Tomasi was struck by a rubber bullet. Lauren and her camera operator are safe and will continue their essential work covering these events. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the inherent dangers journalists can face while reporting from the frontlines of protests, underscoring the importance of their role in providing vital information.”

Australia’s Greens Senator Sarah Hanson‑Young described the incident as “simply shocking” and “completely unacceptable.” She urged Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to demand answers from the US.

“The first thing he must tell the president is to stop shooting at our journalists,” she said via The Independent. “Freedom of the press is a fundamental pillar of a strong, functioning democracy.”

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass asked from the residents to stop the violence.

“Angelenos — do not take part in violence and chaos. Don’t give the administration what it wants,” she posted on X.

Serial killer fears rise as three dozen bodies are found in a lake

0

Serial killer fears rise with the discovery of three dozen bodies in and around Lady Bird Lake in the last three years.

While two of the cases have been ruled suicides, the rest remain under investigation. While the authorities assure there isn’t a mass murderer on the loose, rumors have persisted as new bodies are discovered.

Most recently, the remains of a teenager have been found in Lady Bird Lake, possibly linked to a 17-year-old teen who vanished on Sunday while kayaking with his family.

The clothes of the body match those worn by the missing boy, but still, the police are waiting the results from the medical examiner’s office.

His death was listed as drowning with no foul play suspected.

“The teenager got off his kayak to stand in shallow water. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time. Investigators have determined that he was unknowingly standing near an underwater shelf, which is a sudden drop-off in the lake, when he stepped or slipped off and did not resurface,” the Austin Police Department explained.

According to Fox 7, over the course of three years, the bodies of 38 people have been pulled out of Lady Bird Lake.

The leading causes of death have been drowning, drug overdoses, suicide, and natural causes. About half a dozen of these cases remain unknown.

Last year, a man named Jeff Jones travelled to Austin to a bachelor party. Before heading to pubs on the notoriously boisterous West 6th Street, Jones, 38, had dinner with his friends.

Two weeks later, he woke up at the hospital, with metal rods supporting his back.

Doctors explained that he was found in water after falling 25 feet from a bridge. They discovered date-rape drug Rohypnol in his system.

Jeff Jones

Jones believed he was drugged and then pushed into the lake.

His testimony only intensified the speculations and fears about a serial killer.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Jones said, “The things that lead to it being a serial killer is that it’s a very specific type of victim, which I fit, they don’t have anything stolen from them, they drown in the water, and they disappear in the middle of the night.”

Thirty out of 38 victims discovered in the water are males aged 30 to 49.

Trump declared ‘fully fit’ despite ongoing health speculations

0

As part of his second term in office, President Donald Trump has undergone his first physical examination which also involved a cognitive assessment.

The results, including those of the cognitive test, which have been released to the public by the White House, show that Trump is ‘fully fit.’

The five-hour medical exam took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, with Dr. Sean Barbabella performing it. According to the president himself, it involved “every test you can imagine.”

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote in his report regarding the test results. “He remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.

“His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”

The memo highlighted the president’s “frequent victories in golf events.”

However, what caught many people’s attention was Trump’s weight, which was listed as 224 pounds.

Reportedly, he scored 30 out of 30 on the cognitive test, getting every single question right.

“I did well,” he remarked. “Overall, I felt I was in very good shape. A good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.”

During Joe Biden’s presidency, Trump often mocked him because of his age, calling him “Sleepy Joe” during several occasions. However, while Biden was 78 years old when he moved into the White House and his presidency ended when he was 82, Trump would in fact be 156 days older at the end of his four years than Biden was at the end of his term.

REUTERS via NewYork Post

Trump said he took the cognitive assessment test because he wanted to be different than his predecessor.

“I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One.

The medical report was the first public information on Trump’s health since the July assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Barbabella added that, “Examination of the head, ears, nose and throat revealed no significant abnormalities with the exception of scaring on the right ear from a gunshot wound.”

The doctor’s memo reported Trump taking Aspirin, Mometasone cream for a skin issue, and Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe for cholesterol control.

Recently, Trump appeared with bruises on his hands, which sparked rumors about his health. The bruises were visible during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in February. Addressing the rumors, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the bruises were a result of Trump “constantly working and shaking hands.”

Also, videos from Mar-a-Lago shared on the social media recently sparked speculations about Trump’s leg which appeared wobbly.

Service dog leapt at the baby stroller in the airport

0

Officer Andre and service dog Luna, an experienced German Shepherd, have been an unbreakable team for three years.

That day at the airport, Luna’s ears perked up and her tail stiffened as her eyes met those of a woman pushing a baby stroller.

There was something about that woman that disturbed Luna, and Officer Andre didn’t hesitate when he approached her. He knew Luna’s reaction wasn’t an empty response. Her instincts were sharp, and she had never made a mistake.

Something about that female passenger at Terminal D of Otopeni Airport wasn’t right, and Andre wouldn’t let it slip.

Luna started sniffing the baby that was wrapped in a blue blanket.

Suddenly, the experienced service dog let out a low, angry growl, attracting the attention of the passengers.

The pale, thin woman held the stroller’s handles but her hands were shaking.

“Take that dog away from my baby,” she yelled.

Officer Andre tried to pull Luna away from the stroller, but she didn’t obey. This was the first time in three years the service dog to fail to respond to her handler’s command.

Rather than backing off, Luna stepped closer and pulled the blanket and what appeared from under it shocked everyone.

There wasn’t a baby there but a thermal bag with labels written in Russian and Chinese and symbols of biological hazard. Inside, there were shiny containers that released strange odor.

Officer Andre quickly grabbed the woman by the arm and pulled her aside. He alerted the antiterrorist team of the incident.

“What is this?” Andre asked the woman.

She started crying, claiming she had no idea what it was, it was only her job to get it past security.

The area was cleared and locked down and emergency response teams and specialists in special gear took the thermal beg with the containers.

The materials, traced from unlawful Asian labs to a secret European facility, revealed an international trafficking ring of banned biological materials that could easily cause a biological disaster if released intentionally or accidentally.

Had it not been for Luna, the amazing service dog who sensed the presence of the materials hidden in the containers, a tragedy could have struck.

Doctors said their boy would never walk—until a golden retriever did the unthinkable

0

Sarah exhaled slowly. She was looking at her son, Noah, who was sleeping in his crib. Tears rolled down her eyes. How could a mother accept that her son would never walk.

Noah’s spinal muscular atrophy diagnosis shattered Sarah’s and her husband’s life.

When he was born, Noah looked like the healthiest boy ever. He even moved his tiny legs, but those movements stopped completely over time and doctors told them they would never return.

“Sarah, have you slept for at least an hour?” her husband Michael asked her with a dose of concern in his voice.

“I couldn’t,” Sarah answered. “I just can’t stop looking at Noah. Who knows, maybe he’ll move his legs and I won’t be there to see it.”

Then, they heard barking coming from the living room.

It was Max, the tiny golden retriever Sarah took home from the shelter that day.

Just like her boy, this golden retriever was a fragile puppy — the tiniest in the litter — and the vets believed he wouldn’t make it.

But somehow, Max thrived and ended up at the shelter.

When Sarah learned his story, she knew he belonged with them.

“What do you think, Michael, should we let the dog in? Let’s see how he reacts to Noah.”

Michael was hesitant at first, but he agreed and opened the nursery’s door.

When Max entered Noah’s room, he went straight to the crib and started sniffing the baby. Next, he lay beside him and started pressing his nuzzle to Noah’s skin.

“Oh, this is so beautiful,” Sarah said, not assuming that Max would give them the hope they had prayed for ever since Noah’s diagnosis.

At one moment, Max made a movement and Noah’s arm twitched. They haven’t noticed such movement in months.

Sarah and Michael looked straight at each other’s eyes. “Michael, did you see that?” Sarah yelled.

“Yes, I did,” Michael answered, barely able to utter anything.

To their surprise, Noah made a few more movements, but only after Max did them first.

It looked as the boy was mirroring the dog’s movements.

The following morning, Sarah and Michael went to see Noah’s neurologist, Dr. Hammond.

They explained what they had witnessed, but Dr. Hammond said that Noah’s movements were just random spasms and that there was no evidence of any kind that animal therapy ever helped patients like Noah. But his parents knew better than that. They were certain Max was doing something to trigger their son’s reactions.

After nights of researching cases like Noah, every fibre of Sarah’s being craved a miracle.

She contacted a number of doctors and specialists, and one of them, Dr. Evelyn Carter, answered back.

Dr. Carter had been researching animal-assisted therapy on people with spinal muscular atrophy. She believed there was something Max could sense about Noah and that the baby’s movements weren’t just random spasms.

She watched closely, her expert eyes following Max’s movements as he pressed against Noah’s lower spine and legs, then her expression shifted from calm to shock.

“It’s not random. It’s a response,” she said. “I think he’s detecting nerve activity.”

“Are you suggesting Noah’s paralysis might not be permanent?” Sarah asked.

Dr. Carter paused. “Max is targeting pressure points Noah can sense but we can’t. Let’s demand more tests. Maybe the diagnosis isn’t right.”

At that moment, Dr. Hammond entered the room. “This is nonsense. Dogs don’t diagnose nerve damage,” she said nervously.

But despite her words, Sarah and Michael knew there was still hope for their boy all thanks to the golden retriever they decided to welcome into their lives and home.
