Pretty much as always, Kim Kardashian’s latest fashion choice left many both stunned and puzzled.
The 44-year-old reality star arrived to this year’s Academy Museum Gala in LA, wearing a skin-toned Maison Margiela gown and a balaclava-style, sock-like mask that completely covered her face, leaving only the faintest hint of her features visible.
As expected, the comments were various, from those praising her for her courage to those criticizing her outfit.
“It’s unnecessary and distracting to watch her contort her body to the point she cannot breathe,” one user wrote on X. “The fashion could be appreciated ‘as art’ better if those viewing weren’t thinking about how it feels to wear it.”
“I find this so strange,” another wrote.
“What’s she hiding,” a third user asked on X.
“I didn’t realize that there was a Botox shortage until this,”some else commented.
Those who actually liked her choice to cover her face wrote, “Wait I’m obsessed.”
Another person added, “I actually like this.”
Writing of her looks, The Daily Mail placed Kim Kardashian on the list of the “worst dressed stars” of the evening. “Among the style blunders at the Annual Academy Museum Gala was a peculiar masked look from none other than red carpet queen Kim Kardashian,” they wrote.
A user on X joked that it looked like a tongue-in-cheek “cover the face with a brown bag” moment, saying, “Guarantee you it isn’t the first time somebody had to cover her face!”
“So… she has a face. Never noticed till now,” wrote one observer, while another added, “Oh look, Kanye’s ex wife acting like Kanye.”
Kardashian isn’t new to making headlines with her face hidden at high-profile events.
She first turned heads at the 2021 Met Gala, arriving in an all-black Balenciaga catsuit complete with a cape and balaclava that fully concealed her features. Yet, despite her fans and the public being familiar with her style, this last look indeed shocked many of them.
Kim’s choice to cover her face at the gala followed just days after she posed with Kris Jenner at the premiere of All’s Fair. Some on social media joked that Kim looked slightly annoyed with her mother for drawing attention away from her stunning Givenchy ensemble.
