The world is mourning the loss of singer and actress Olivia Newton-John, the stunning singer and actress who rose to stardom with the iconic role of Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson who fall for greaser Danny Zuko, played by John Travolta, in the classic musical Grease.
Grease became a cultural phenomenon that remained popular years following its release and turned both Newton-John and Travolta into huge stars everyone talked about. The single “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” performed by Newton-John, was nominated at the Oscars for original song.
The co-stars remained very close friends until the very end. They had reunited to celebrate the movie on many occasions. Back in 2018, the two rejoined for the 40th anniversary of the screening of Grease where they showed off the dance moves from the film.
Following Newton-John’s family’s statement about her passing, Travolta posted a tribute on the social media.
“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!” He signed it,” Your Danny, your John.”
Newton-John passed away on Monday, August 8, following a lengthy battle of breast cancer. Travolta lost his wife of many years, Kelly Preston, from the same disease back in 2020.
