Visiting the dentist can be a terrifying experience for many. Sadly, it’s one that can’t really be avoided completely, but thanks to some smart hacks it can definitely be reduced to the minimum.

Now if you are struggling with tartar and you believe you do all in your power to keep your oral hygiene high but nothing works, than you may need to give these tips and tricks a go. They all require everyday items everyone is very likely to have in their home and won’t really cost you a lot.

1. Baking soda

The health benefits that come with using baking soda are numerous. This doesn’t only help you with your acid reflux, sunburns, and more, but it’s awesome when it comes to cleaning your teeth with it. On top of that, they would turn a lot whither.

2. Hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is another cheap alternative to teeth whitening. All you need to do to achieve the desirable effect is gargling diluted hydrogen peroxide consistently for a few months (once a day).

3. Apples

An apple a day keeps the dentist away. Not only these fruits are delicious, but they offer many health benefits, among which clean teeth and a nice breath. The fibrous nature of apples scrubs away the plaque from you teeth and helps keep them clean.

Similar to oranges, tomatoes and strawberries can be used as a weapon to fight mouth bacteria. These foods are rich in antimicrobial properties. Except they are great to consume, you can apply their pulp directly on your teeth and leave it for about five minutes. Do this twice a week and you’ll notice the difference.

7. Spicy foods

If you are a fan of spicy food, it’s very likely you don’t struggle with tartar. Why? Because these foods generate heightened saliva production in your mouth which helps clean the teeth and the gums. In case you have been avoiding spicy food, maybe it’s time to reconsider your decision.

8. Anti-tartar toothpaste

Here’s an all natural recipe for a homemade pasta that can help you get rid of the tartar and get whiter teeth. Mix coconut oil, baking soda, stevia powder and olive oil – it’s as simple as that.
