The stories behind the three rings Kate Middleton wears on her wedding finger

Not only she will be a much loved and appreciated queen one day, but she is also a fashion icon who takes our breath away whenever she appears in public. Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, has adopted a distinctive style. She’s both elegant and casual, depending on the occasion.

This year, Kate and William celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and shared beautiful photos of themselves which show that the two are very much in love with one another as day one. They also treated the public with a family video which features them doing fun stuff, such as toasting marshmallows over an open fire.

The couple started dating while they were both attending St Andrews University in Scotland. At one point, they split and Kate got the nickname “Waity Katy” by the media, but that didn’t last long as William called her shortly after and asked her to get back to him.

William proposed to Kate in in 2010, while on a trip to Kenya, with his late mother’s engagement ring. The beautiful piece of jewelry is a 12-carat sapphire sparkler with 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding it. In fact, it was Harry who believed Kate should have that ring which holds a very special place in both brothers’ hearts.

According to late Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrel, Prince Charles let William and Harry choose a piece each from their mother’s personal jewelry collection. William picked a golden Cartier watch, and Harry got to have the engagement ring, which was designed by Garrard & Co back in 1981.

Later, when William told his brother he wanted to propose to Kate, Harry offered him the ring because “then one day that ring will be sat on the throne of England,” according to Burrel.

This ring, however, isn’t the only one that Kate wears. Her wedding ring, made from a special nugget of gold from the Clogau St David’s mine at Bontddu in North Wales, is also on her finger, as well as an Eclipse Diamond Eternity ring by Annoushka which is believed to be given to her after the birth of Prince George in 2013.

Of course, being Prince William’s wife, Kate is allowed to use jewelry from the Queen’s collection, including the tiaras.

Recently, she has been spotted wearing a diamond daisy-shaped necklace from Asprey, probably an anniversary gift from William.

Kate often wears outfits she has had for many years and that speaks that although she will be a queen one day, she is a very grounded person that we all love very much.
