My son made a new friend — I was shocked to discover who the girl’s mother turned out to be

Life hasn’t been easy since my husband’s passing. My son, Mike, became withdrawn and didn’t talk to anyone, so I thought moving towns and enrolling him to a new school would help him with his grief.

Days went by and nothing seemed to change, until one day he hopped inside the car with a smile on his face and said, “Mom, I made a new friend. She’s the best person I’ve ever met.”

My face beamed with joy. It was finally happening. My son has finally found someone he was comfortable with.

I didn’t ask many questions, I was just happy for him forming social connections.

One day, he came home and handed me a piece of paper. The phone number of his friend’s mom was written on it. “Mom Sophie invited me to her place tomorrow. This is her mom’s number. Please, say yes,” he said with excitement.

Later that day, I texted Sophie’s mom just to make sure she was fine with the playdate our children had organized. “We’d be happy to have Mike over,” Sophie’s mom texted back.

I offered to bring some wine, and she said it was a great idea.

The following day, we headed to Sophie’s place and I was finally going to meet her and her mom.

However, the moment the door opened and I heard a familiar voice, I felt defeated. It was Alice, the woman who made my high-school years a living hell.

The moment I looked her in the eyes, all the teasing, bullying, and harsh words she has ever said to me came back. I felt the same pain I did when I was a teenager.

With a cold expressions on her face, she said, “Lisa, you haven’t changed,” and laughed at my face.

I hesitated whether I should enter her home, but my son was already inside and his and Sophie’s laughter filled the air.

Alice and I barely said a word to each other. I remembered the time when she stole my prom date and laughed at my face, just like she did when she saw me at her door.

I didn’t want to have anything with that woman, but my son and her daughter made best friends, so there wasn’t much I could do.

While Mike and Sophie continued hanging out both at school and out, Alice and I didn’t have any contact. But that changed when the school principal call me and told me I needed to go to the school.

Unaware of what was going on, I entered Mrs. Terry’s office and saw Alice there.

She accused my son of bullying her daughter. And although I knew she was making things up, I was unable to convince Mrs. Terry that Alice was lying.

Not only she put my son in trouble, but she also accused me of being a bad mother who didn’t take good care of my son.

Alice’s bullying continued. But we weren’t teenagers any longer and I wouldn’t let her hurt my son the way she hurt me years ago.

I spoke to Mike and told him to stay away from Sophie. I knew the girl was a great person, but her mom forced her to lie, and I didn’t want Mike to be friends with her any longer.

One day, as I was getting ready for work, someone knocked on my door. It was Alice, but this time, she looked like the one who was defeated.

“Why are you here, Alice? To throw more accusations at me? What’s your problem?” I asked as I tried to close the door at her face. But she grabbed me by my hand and said she was there to apologize.

I was stunned at her words. “What changed?” I asked.

Alice explained that Sophie was extremely sad because she couldn’t play with Mike any longer. She cried every day and begged her mother to let her be friends with Mike again.

Mike was also said. He missed Sophie dearly, and I believed our children shouldn’t have suffered because of Alice and my unresolved issues.

I invited her inside and we had a long conversation. She said that she bullied me because she was jealous of me. I was part of a lovely family while hers was dysfunctional.

“And what about now, Alice?” I asked. “I’m a single mom struggling to provide a decent life for my son. What’s to be jealous about now?”

Alice shared that she married Luke, the date she stole from me at the prom, but he wasn’t a good husband and father. In fact, she spent a few awful years with him before she gathered the courage to leave him and run away with Sophie.

“And you, although your husband is dead, at least he loved you,” Alice said.

I understood she was facing her own issues, so I decided to forgive her for the sake of our children. We, however, never became friends.

Melania Trump, the wife of business mogul and former President of the United States, Donald Trump, first came to America to work as a model. Her beauty opened the doors to the fashion industry for her, and she was very successful at what she did.

It was back in 1987 when young Melania decided to drop out of the University of Ljubljana and focus on modeling instead. It took her only a year to get a contract with a modeling agency in Milan.

When she met famous Italian businessman Paolo Zampolli, he helped her get a work visa to the U.S.

Back then, she planned on living in the States but had to travel back home several times to renew her visa.

“I came here for my career, and I did so well, I moved here,” Melania told Harper’s Bazaar. “It never crossed my mind to stay here without papers. That is just the person you are. You follow the rules. You follow the law. Every few months you need to fly back to Europe and stamp your visa.

“After a few visas, I applied for a green card and got it in 2001. After the green card, I applied for citizenship. And it was a long process.”

At a Kit Kat Club event during the New York Fashion Week in 1998, Zampolli brought a friend, Donald Trump. He was with a date that night, but when he saw Melania, he immediately wanted to know more about her.

One of Melania’s friends, Edit Molnar, spoke of that night and explained that Donald asked Melania for her number, but she didn’t give it to him because he wasn’t alone. “Melania said, ‘He’s here with a woman. I am absolutely not giving him my number,’” Molnar told New York Post. “She wouldn’t even consider it. Donald did all the work.”

Melania also spoke of the night she first met Donald Trump. “He wanted my number,” she told Tatler. “But he was on a date, so of course I didn’t give it to him. I said, ‘I am not giving you my number; give me yours and I will call you.’ If I give him my number, I’m just one of the women he calls.”

After they met again, one thing led to another and the two started a relationship. In 2001, at the time Melania got her green card, she was already living at Trump Tower.

They tied the knot some three years later, and in 2006, they welcomed their son Baron Trump.

Melania Trump did end her career as a model, but she never stopped working, regardless of her husband’s enormous wealth.

She has been involved in the fashion industry, more precisely jewelry. She never stopped creating pieces, not even during the time she lived in the White House as a First Lady.

The former model launched her Melania Timepieces and Jewelry collection, for sale on QVC, in 2010. Each of the pieces she created seems to represent her personal aesthetics and fashion style. Melania also marketed a skin care collection at high-end department stores.

It has been reported that according to the White House financial disclosure filing in May 2016, the former First Lady’s company, Melania Marks Accessories Member Corporation, made between $15,000 and $50,000 in royalties per year.

According to Yahoo, her net worth is around $50 million.

However, besides her business, Melania is also involved in a number of charities, including Be Best program, which she launched in 2018. It aims at promoting physical and emotional wellbeing among children.

“Social media can both positively and negatively affect our children. But too often, it is used in negative ways,” she said at the time of the Be Best launch. “When children learn positive online behaviors early on, social media can be used in productive ways.

“I do believe that children should be both seen and heard, and it is our responsibility as adults to educate and remind them that when they are using their voices – whether verbally or online – they must choose their words wisely and speak with respect and compassion.”

Other causes she supports are the Martha Graham Dance Company, The American Red Cross, Love Our Children USA, and the Police Athletic League.

People close to the Trump family claimed Melania wasn’t happy with her husband’s plan to run for president in 2024. Apparently, she didn’t want to return to the White House and believed that political work for the Republican Party is not her job, but her husband’s.

“Being First Lady again is not what she wants,” source told CNN. “For her, it was a chapter — and it’s over, and that’s that.”

However, as we all know, Trump won the elections and will be serving as the President of the United States for four more years, and Melania is supportive of his venture.

In fact, what Melania is best known for is her dedication to her son Barron.

From the moment he was born, she was the one taking care of him, no nannies and no particular help from her husband who was busy doing business.

Over the years, she has been very protective of her son whom she tried to keep out of the spotlight. Barron, just like his mother, tends to keep his life private as much as possible.

When she appeared on Fox News in October, Melania said that as a mother, you should “lead with love and take a child as individual. She added that you should “be cautious and be very loving,” and that speaks volumes of her efforts as a mom.

Speaking of what Barron was like as a child, Melania spoke to Parenting, as quoted by Metro, and said: “In his space, the décor style of the rest of our home is mixed with what he is into: planes and helicopters.

“We let him be creative; let his imagination fly and do whatever he wants. Whatever he wants to do with his own room later on, he can do it. Whatever he wants to do with his own room he can do it. He draws on the walls, we can paint it over.

“When he was smaller, he started drawing on the walls,” she added. “His imagination is growing and important. He draws on the walls in his playroom, we can paint it over. One day he was playing bakery and he wrote ‘Barron’s Bakery’ on the wall with crayons. He is very creative, if you say to a child ‘no, no, no,’ where does the creativity go?”

Like her or hate her, Melania Trump has done an extraordinary job raising her son in a public environment.

I surprised my husband with a meal at his workplace, only to discover he’d been let go three months ago

As I was making lasagna, I thought it would be nice if I brought some to my husband Johnathan at his workplace. He loved lasagna and garlic bread, and he was working late hours for a couple of weeks so I believed he would appreciate the gesture.

I took a taxi, and once I was in front of the company’s building, I asked the security guard about my husband. He looked at me awkwardly and then told me that he was axed three weeks ago. It was around the same time he claimed he needed to stay at the office late because he was aiming at a promotion.

I didn’t confront him right away. Before I talked to him about him lying to my face, I first wanted to try and learn what was going on myself.

The following morning he got up and got ready for “work” as usual. I gave him a kiss, as I did every morning, and asked him about the promotion. “Still working on it,” he replied while looking at his phone.

I waited for him to get out of the house before I took a taxi and followed after him. On the way to the bar where he parked his car, he picked up some women I had never seen before.

When I entered the bar myself, I saw Johnathan with the women and before I had the chance to approach them, one of the women stood up and left the bar. I followed her outside and asked her how she knew Johnathan, to what she replied, “That jerk? He doesn’t appreciate real talent. Good luck to him.”

What the hell was going on?

When my husband came home that evening, I had to ask him about his job and all those women he was with that day.

“How do you know I was at a bar? Did you follow me?!” he yelled. I said I had because I learned he had lost his job but claimed he was still working.

That’s when my husband told me he quit his job himself because he wanted to focus on his life dream, that of becoming a director of a play. The women were some so-called actresses who wanted part in his play.

This was all very confusing. “But where did you get the money for a play?” I asked him. That’s when I received yet another blow from my husband, the man I trusted the most until that moment.

He said he used our savings, the $50,000 that we had on our shared bank account. The worst thing of all was that he had already spent that money and his play was still in the making. Who knew how much more he needed to spend, and I was angered by his action.

I tried to convince my husband to quit the idea of becoming a director, but he didn’t listen.

Things became heated between us and I eventually filed for divorce. I got custody of the kids and Johnathan moved out of the house.

After a couple of months, I got a call from Johnathan. He said his play would be performed the following week and I was invited.

Honestly, I hesitated whether to go or not, but my kids convinced me to attend it and show my support. Sadly, the play was bad. The theater was half-empty. I felt sorry for my ex husband, but it was what he chose and now he needed to face the consequences all by himself.

We didn’t stay in touch. He only contacted with the children, but one day, he called me and asked me to have coffee with him, promising we would only speak about our kids. I wanted him to understand that “we” no longer existed.

When we met, Johnathan told me he got a job offer in finances. I said I was happy for him. But if he accepted it, it meant he needed to move to Chicago, which was quite far from where the children and I lived.

However, I promised we would be making adjustments and visiting schedules so that he can continue see the kids whenever possible.

He did take the job, and I moved on with my life and finally took that trip to Europe I always dreamed of.

My daughter dropped off my grandson and vanished – three weeks later, a call shattered my heart

I didn’t expect any visitors that day, so when I heard the doorbell ring, I wondered who it might be. To my surprise, I saw my daughter, Jane, and my grandson, Tommy.

“Mom, I need a favor,” she said. “I need you to take care of Tommy for a few weeks. Maybe a bit more than that.”

When I noticed she carried a huge suitcase, I knew something serious was going on.

Jane wasn’t someone who asked favors lightly, so this was a bit strange. But I didn’t ask any questions. I just gave her a hug and made her promise she would stay safe.

Worry was written all over her face, but when she told me she would be on a work mission, I decided to trust her.

My grandson was a ball of energy. He was lovable, curious, and easy to entertain, so I wasn’t bothered by the fact he would be staying with me for a couple of weeks.

We played games, read stories, and enjoyed his favorite food. At one moment, he spilled the juice all over his t-shirt, so I went upstairs to grab a new one from the suitcase my daughter left.

When I opened it, my heart raced faster than ever. Inside were clothes for all seasons. Jackets and gloves on the top, and then shorts and flip flops underneath. At the bottom, there was an envelope with my name written on it. It was full of cash; more money than I have ever seen in my life.

This only meant one thing, Jane wasn’t coming back any time soon, maybe ever.

I tried to reach her on the phone but failed each time.

Days went by and my grandson started wondering where his mom was.

I contacted her colleagues, her friends, and even her former roommate, but no one heard from Jane. It was as though she vanished into thin air.

Then, one day, my phone rang. It was my daughter asking to speak to my grandson. She avoided answering any of my questions. She just asked from me to trust her and that she would be back. I tell her to promise to me that she would return safe and sound. After she talked to Tommy, she hang up. When I tried to call her back, she didn’t answer.

Whenever someone asked about my son’s father, I would say he was the product of a fling that wasn’t meant to last. But the truth was much darker than that.

Tommy’s father was a very dangerous man who was involved with the mafia and some of the most notorious criminals. When I dated him, I had no idea how dangerous he was. Following our split, I never told him I was carrying his child. To be honest, I hadn’t even heard from him until one day when he called and told me he was in town again.

The thought of him learning that he had a son was terrifying all by itself. I knew he would want to take him from me, so I had to hide him.

That’s why I packed all of his clothes and belongings. I even got rid of every photo of him from my house in case Alex appeared out of the blue.

What I knew was that Tommy would be safe with the only person I ever trusted, his grandma.

I prayed Alex leave town as soon as possible, so that I could be with my son again.

When my daughter returned to take my grandson, she looked extremely exhausted.

It was as though she aged in a matter of months. I never questioned her decision, I was just glad she returned safe and sound.

Laken Riley: Last message and final movements captured on cameras

Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student, was last seen alive on February 22 at around 9 a.m. near the campus where she went jogging. Moments after, she disappeared and was later found dead.

She had visible injuries on her body.

During the trial of Jose Ibarra, who is charged with murder and other crimes in the case of Riley, prosecutors played a footage of Riley jogging on campus before she vanished.

They also shared the late student’s text message to her mother, Allyson Phillips, who usually chatted with her daughter during her morning runs.

Riley’s last message to her mom read, “Good morning, about to go for run if you’re free to talk.” She sent the message at 8:55 a.m. then eight minutes latter she called her, but her mom didn’t answer the phone.

However, when the mom tried to reach her daughter minutes later, Riley was the one not responding. Worried, the mom sent her a message that read, “Call me when you can,” as per People. She then sent another one with the words, “You’re making me nervous not answering while you’re out running. Are you OK?” At 11:47 a.m. Phillips wrote to her daughter, “Please call me. I’m worried sick about you.”  

As she couldn’t reach her, Phillip’s contacted her daughter’s roommates, Lilly Steiner and Sofia Magana, who searched the trail for their friend at around 11 a.m.

They came across a single AirPod that belonged to Riley and reported her missing to the University of Georgia police.

Riley’s smartwatch showed that she called 911 at 9:11 a.m. but the call was abruptly cut off. When 911 dispatchers called Riley back, they didn’t get an answer.

At 9:28 a.m., the smartwatch detected no movement. Laken Riley’s heart stopped.

The death of Laken Riley fueled a national debate over immigration. Jose Ibarra was an illegal immigrant who entered the country back in 2022 but was allowed to stay in the States while pursuing his immigration case.

Riley’s sister, Lauren Phillips, paid tributes to Riley on the social media. She wrote, “The best sister and my built in [sic] best friend from the very first second. This isn’t fair and I will never understand it but I know you are in heaven with the man you loved most right now. I’m not sure how I’m going to do this but it’s all going to be for you from now on.”

Homeowner Returns to Backyard Treasure Hunt

When I arrived home from vacation, I expected to find the house exactly as I’d left it. Instead, I was greeted by a massive hole right in the middle of my backyard. My first thought? Call the cops. But as I got closer, I spotted a shovel at the bottom of the hole. Something about it stopped me in my tracks. “What on earth?” I muttered, leaning over to inspect the scene. That night, curiosity got the better of me. I set up a watch by the window, waiting for whoever was responsible to return. Around midnight, I saw a shadowy figure jump the fence and head straight for the hole. This was the start of an unexpected backyard treasure discovery I’d never forget.

Face-to-Face with the Intruder

Armed with nothing but my phone’s flashlight, I crept outside to confront the intruder. Shining the light down, I was shocked to see a familiar face—George, the guy who had sold us the house. He looked equally stunned. “Frank? What are you doing here?” he asked, scrambling to explain himself. “Look,” he started, “my grandfather buried something valuable here years ago. I thought I could dig it up while you were away.” His voice was desperate but sincere. George proposed a deal: If I helped him dig, we’d split the backyard treasure discovery 50/50. Against my better judgment, I grabbed a second shovel and joined him.
