When life gives you lemons, use them to improve your overall health.

It’s true that lemons don’t make appealing snacks all by themselves because of their sour and bitter taste, but the benefits they offer are limitless. Being full of vitamins and antioxidants, lemons are without a doubt one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. And this isn’t just a belief, but something that science backs up big time.

Native to North-Eastern India but available to every person on planet, lemons’ unique flavor makes them the perfect ingredient in drinks, desserts, and meals.

Among the rest, the fruit’s pulp, rind, and juice are rich with vitamins that stimulate immunity and reduce the risk of various diseases.

Recent research discovered that this super-fruit helps fight insomnia thanks to its powerful antiseptic and antibacterial qualities.

So, if you have trouble falling asleep at night try cutting a lemon in four and placing it in your bedroom.

Some of the advantages lemons offer are as follows:

1. You’ll feel more energized, refreshed and well rested when you wake up.

2. Helps fight tension and tiredness.

3. Helps get rid of hangover.

4. Lemon scent aids those with asthma or colds by clearing their sinuses.

5. Helps you breathe more easily.

6. Ventilates the space.

7. Offers protection against mosquitoes.

8.  It’s an effective tool in weight loss and weight management.

The truth is that the list of health benefits lemons offer is so long that it would take days to complete it.

No matter how you like your lemons, you are sure to reap some great health and well-being benefits from eating them and using them!

Kevin Costner told ‘just stick to acting’ by Yellowstone boss, sources claim

0

Fans of the American neo-Western drama television series Yellowstone, which follows the conflicts along the shared borders of the Yellowstone Ranch, a large cattle ranch, the Broken Rock Indian reservation, Yellowstone National Park and land developers, seems to be coming to an end.

Rumors are that the lead actor, Kevin Costner, who plays the role of John Dutton III, and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan don’t get along and that is the reason why the series is wrapping up despite its immense popularity.

A source told the Daily Mail that “Certain people in charge of the production developed a God complex,” referring to Sheridan. It was reported that Paramount’s blockbuster Western series is set to end after the upcoming second half of its fifth season aired.

Shutterstock

Apparently, Costner raised concerns regarding the direction the series was going but was told by Sheridan to “stick to acting.”

The source divulged: “Kevin will forever be proud of and grateful for Yellowstone and the cast is like family to him.

“He just felt like Yellowstone is headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision and he was met with criticism, including that he should just stick to acting.”

Per the New York Post, Costner now wants to focus on other projects. “It’s the same as with any show runner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction,” a source told the publication.

Shutterstock

At the time being, Costner, who recently earned a Golden Globe Award for best actor for his portrayal of John Dutton, is directing and starring in Horizon, a western film series consisting of four separate movies which are to be released three months apart from each other.

Allegedly, Costner plans to film for just a week on the second half of season five of Yellowstone. According to his attorney, Marty Singer, this wasn’t true. “As everyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has always gone way above and beyond to ensure its success,” Singer told Puck News.

Major delays in the production were another reason why Costner and Sheridan ‘argued’ over. These delays have been a result of Sheridan’s ‘overburdened’ schedule. When Costner made himself available for filming, the scripts weren’t ready yet.

“Kevin’s been extremely cooperative with working with Taylor and his production company, 101 Studios. They were supposed to shoot the second chapter of Season five late last year, but they just didn’t have the scripts,” a source told the Post.

“Kevin had already committed to making his other movies. He had given the producers his schedule. There was nothing to shoot,” the source added.

We hope the issues between Costner and Sheridan will be resolved and the shooting will continue as planned.

Tucker Carlson abruptly parts ways with Fox News

0

Fox News abruptly announced on Monday the end of right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson‘s run on the network. The reason for the departure has not yet been provided.

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the announcement read. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

Carlson’s last broadcast was on Friday 21 April, when the host of the primetime show Tucker Carlson Tonight was seen eating pizza and saying, “We’ll be back on Monday.”

Beginning on Monday, the 8pm ET slot will be filled in by “Fox News Tonight” which will be hosted by a rotation of personalities until the network selects a new permanent host.

Carlson’s show was one of the highest-rated cable news programs.

The news of his departure from the network comes less than a week after Fox News agreed to pay a $787.5 million settlement in Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit over their 2020 election reporting. The lawsuit alleged that Fox News personalities, among which Carlson, made false claims that the company’s voting machines were rigged against former president Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. It is not, however, clear if this settlement has anything to do with him not being part of the network any longer.

Over the years, Carlson made a name for himself as one of the most successful hosts with a show with highest ratings despite his conservative views on subjects including race, LGBTQ rights and the war in Ukraine.

Allegedly, the decision to oust Carlson came from Rupert Murdoch, the 92-year-old Fox owner.

Gene Wilder kept his illness a secret to the grave – he couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world

0

Gene Wilder was a legendary actor and a beloved entertainer who gave the world of film some iconic roles, including that of Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Born on June 11, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to a mother who experienced heart issues, Wilder did all in his power to always make her laugh, as her doctor once advised him when he told him, “Don’t ever argue with your mother, you might kill her. Try to make her laugh.”

This made him realize that he could become an actor who would entertain crowds, and eventually, he became one.

After playing in a number of off-Broadway shows, he was offered the role which changed his life forever and helped him make a name for himself. However, before he tried his luck in the film industry, Wilder changed his name. He was born Jerome Silberman, with his father being a Russian immigrant, and his mother being of Polish descent.

As he was a huge book lover, Wilder took the inspiration for his new name from the character of Eugene Grant from the book Look Homeward, Angel, and the surname came from Thornton Wilder, author of Our Town.

Before landing the role of Willy Wonka, Wilder received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in Mel Brooks’ classic comedy The Producers.

When he read the script for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Wilder loved it. He, however, had many things in mind when it came to his character and letters he sent to director Mel Stuart emerged following the filming.

“When I make my first entrance, I’d like to come out of the door carrying a cane and then walk toward the crowd with a limp. After the crowd sees Willy Wonka is a cripple, they all whisper to themselves and become deathly quiet,” Wilder wrote in the letter to Mel Stuart.

“As I walk toward them, my cane sinks into one of the cobblestones I’m walking on and stands straight up, by itself; but I keep on walking, until I realize that I no longer have my cane. I start to fall forward, and just before I hit the ground, I do a beautiful forward somersault and bounce back up, to great applause.”

The entrance turned out to be the right deal as it gave the character of Willy Wonka another dimension.

Wilder was also heavily involved with the making of the costumes his character wore in the film. “The hat is terrific, but making it 2 inches shorter would make it more special,” Wilder was said to have said.

When Tim Burton released the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with Johnny Depp in the lead role, Wilder wasn’t impressed. “I think it’s an insult,” Wilder explained. “Johnny Depp, I think, is a good actor, but I don’t care for that director. He’s a talented man, but I don’t care for him doing stuff like he did.”

Wilder moved on to play in other films, including Blazing Saddles in 1974. Later, together with Mel Brooks, Wilder wrote Young Frankenstein and starred in it. The two were nominated for an Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay Adapted From Other Material.

Most of the films which followed didn’t receive good critics and Wilder eventually quit acting and turned to writing. He published  two novels and several short stories, and in 2005, he released a memoir, Kiss Me Like a Stranger: My Search for Love and Art.

“Once in a while, there was a nice, good film, but not very many. If something comes along that’s really good and I think I would be good for it, I’d be happy to do it. But not too many came along,” he said of leaving the acting business.

“I mean, they came along for the first, I don’t know, 15, 18 films, but I didn’t do that many. But then I didn’t want to do the kind of junk I was seeing. I didn’t want to do 3D, for instance. I didn’t want to do ones where it’s just bombing and loud and swearing. So much swearing going on. If someone says ‘Ah, go f— yourself,’ well, if it came from a meaningful place, I’d understand it. But if you go to some movies, can’t they just stop and talk, just talk, instead of swearing? That put me off a lot.”

Wilder was married four times. He passed away in 2016 after suffering from Alzheimer’s for several years. Wilder, however, decided to keep his illness a secret from the world.

“He simply couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world,” his nephew, Jordan Walker-Pearlman, said in a statement.

At the time of his passing, Ella Fitzgerald’s version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow was reportedly playing, while the actor was surrounded by his family.

Around a year after his passing, Wilder’s widow, Kareen Webb, opened up about his struggles during the last years of his life.

“My husband took the news with grief, of course, but also astonishing grace. I watched his disintegration each moment of each day for six years. One day, I saw him struggle with the ties on his drawstring pants. That night, I took the drawstrings out. Then his wrist was bleeding from the failed effort of trying to take off his watch. I put his watch away,” Webb wrote to ABC News.

“Gene died fifteen months ago. I was in the bed next to him when he took his last breaths. By that point, it had been days since he’d spoken. But on that last night, he looked me straight in the eye and said, three times over, ‘I trust you.’”

Gene Wilder will forever be remembered as someone who brought many smiles to many people.

Conjoined twins Abby and Erin Delaney: Inside their remarkable story

0
One thing that is becoming common knowledge is how rare it is to see identical twins, the fact that they don’t fully split when their zygote becomes two embryos—are, it’s even rarer. For these two conjoined twins baby girls, in Philadelphia, their incredible predicament isn’t going to impair their lives at all… Erin and Abby Delaney, beautiful baby girls were born in 2016 summertime, conjoined at the tops of their heads, this really made the separation really a complicated and difficult thing indeed! Looking at these two it was apparent that to keep them joined in this fashion was really not an option for them, for their development and for their mental health too as they grow up. The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia took on the task of separating them from each other, the most complex procedure that the hospital has ever carried out before! To do the surgery it took a surgical team for each girl and many hours of fast-paced procedures to stop either of them bleeding to death or to cause further complications. With love, care, and incredible skills of the surgeons the two were separated without any problems, it was a success and they can now live separate lives. Thier mom, Heather Delaney, said:

“They’re such happy, content little girls, for what they’ve gone through …They’ve never lived outside of hospital walls.”

Now that had all changed for the better, five months down the line and after surgery and the pair being home, they could grow physically and mentally and flourish in their own space, mom commented about how really well they have been both developing. Mom also said:

“They’re not afraid of people …it’s amazing to see how brave they’ve been through all of it.”

For many of the first months after their birth, it was impossible to hold them separately, they could not learn to roll over even, let alone sit up and for their own safety, they were monitored constantly! Eventually, Erin was sitting up on her own and Abby learned to roll over too, it was a very long path to where they are now but they followed it to completion and finally, they arrived safely! These amazing girls are having a second chance at life, an awesome life, but they needed to undergo further surgeries. In July 2021, they had undergone surgeries to help reshape and fix their skulls. The recovery went well for Abby, but Erin had a tougher time to recover completely. Their mom has been updating their family and friends, also those interested in the life of the girls, through social media posts. In September 2020, the family received yet another blow when the girls were diagnosed with autism. ”There is such a stigma around those who are autistic and it scares me for the girls’ future.  They already have so much going on and to be autistic as well is just hard.  I cried a lot when I got that phone call.  I just want the diagnosis’ to stop.  I know that it doesn’t change anything.  I know that the girls are still who they are and we still love them just as much if not more than we did yesterday.  But having yet another diagnosis is just disheartening,” Heather wrote. In her latest post on her blog, Heather said that Abby is getting closer to walking every day and that Erin is ”walking upstairs, running around, and getting stronger every day.” Erin Abby have been able to reach the milestones they have reached thanks to the immense love and support from their loving mom and dad. Despite everything they have gone through, they are both thriving. ”We are so proud of the girls, and how far they have come, and where they are going.  Not once have we wished things were different because we love our girls for just the way they are,” Heather says.

Connie Culp became the first-ever face transplant patient in the US: Inside her remarkable story

0

The life of Connie Culp was marked with a big tragedy and a number of struggles which she managed to overcome one step at a time.

When she was 16, she run away from home with her high-school sweetheart who would later try to claim her life. Although she was in love with her husband, Tom, she became aware that he mistreated her, the same as her father. For a long time, she believed it was normal, but she them decided to stand for herself.

“He would push me and people would see it, and I would get up and I’d say, ‘I’m a good person, and I don’t deserve that,’” she told Oprah. “He wasn’t used to me talking back.”

On September 21, 2004, this woman’s life changed forever when her husband accused her of flirting with another man and shot her in the face. He then pulled the trigger on himself but survived.

Youtube/ABC

Connie survived as well, and she somehow managed to call her sister, who then called Connie’s daughter Alicia.

The blast shattered Connie’s nose, cheeks, the roof of her mouth, and her eye. Her survival was dubbed a miracle.

“I lost my sense of smell. I lost my eye, my nose. My jaw they had to wire shut. I didn’t lose any teeth during the [incident], but the top of my mouth deteriorated, so I lost my whole top mouth,” Connie explained. “I could feel my face just sliding down.”

Although she experienced excruciating pain, she said that she forgave Tom, whom she divorced and who was sentenced to nine years in prison.

“I always will [love him.] I mean, I have two kids to him,” Culp said. “But you know what? I cannot be with him anymore,” she told ABC. “I won’t let anybody talk about that, I spent six years thinking about it. And you know what? Now, it’s a new beginning. I have a new face. I’m a new me.”

Youtube/ABC

Connie was forced to undergo over 30 surgeries and she was starred at and even called names when she would go out in public.

One time, while she was shopping at a store, a young boy called her a monster.

“‘You said there were no real monsters, Mommy, and there’s one right there,’” Connie recalled the boy saying as he pointed towards her.

“‘I’m not a monster,’” Connie responded as she pulled out her driver’s licence and showed him how she looked before. “I’m a person who was shot.”

Youtube/ABC

On December 9, 2008, Connie’s life would change once again. As doctors considered a face transplant surgery, something that hadn’t been done in the U.S up until that point, finding a donor was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Even if a donor was found, no one could say with certainty that such a surgery could be a success.

Then, the Cleveland Clinic had found a donor, a woman named Anna Kasper who collapsed in the cold and passed away after getting out at her back porch to lit a cigarette.

Anna’s family described her as the most caring and most loving woman there was, and they knew she would want to donate her face to someone in need so they agreed to donate it to Connie. Anna happened to be a matching donor, which was yet another miracle.

Youtube/ABC – Anna Kasper

The surgery lasted for 23 long hours.

“This is amazing both technically, surgically, but also philosophically. The face of someone else is being adopted and accepted by the face of the recipient,” Dr. Maria Siemionow, the Cleveland Clinic surgeon who led the team performing the transplant surgery, said. “You can see a live person who is happy her life is back.”

The recovery was a long and tiring one and it included a lot of anti-rejection medications.

Youtube/CBSPittsburgh

Connie could start her life over. She learned how to speak again, and she even cracked jokes. She learned how to eat solid food, and even how to walk again because she was forced to spend a lot of time in the hospital bed. “You know, it was scary when I walked out,” Connie she recalled. “All I could see were my doctors up front because of their white coats. I didn’t even see the reporters. That’s probably the one day I was glad to be blind.

“The importance of a face transplant was getting my mouth back in order and letting me smile again,” she told the Post-Gazette.

“And now, for instance, I can drink out of a cup and eat solid food. Before, I had to use a straw all the time and eat soft foods.”

Youtube/ClevelandClinic

Connie regained her self confidence and even started dating again. She felt happy and fulfilled.

Unfortunately, in 2020, this brave woman passed away due to an infection not related to her surgery.

“Connie was an incredibly brave, vibrant woman and an inspiration to many,” Dr. Frank Papay, chair of Cleveland Clinic’s Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Institute, who was part of Connie’s surgical team, told CNN.

“Her strength was evident in the fact that she had been the longest-living face transplant patient to date,” Papay said in a statement. “She was a great pioneer, and her decision to undergo a sometimes daunting procedure is an enduring gift for all of humanity.”

Connie was a true inspiration. May she rest in peace.

Family with mysterious facial condition are becoming an internet sensation – now they’re inspiring millions worldwide

0

Ever since we were little children, our parents taught us to never judge people based on their physical appearance. Sadly, there are still those who make assumptions about others based on their looks.

Although being different means being special and unique, those people who don’t fit the ‘standards’ imposed by the society can easily fall victims of stares and bullying.

A family from Indonesia, the Manurung family, are unlike the rest of the people from their village.

Four out of six siblings, together with their father, suffer from a mysterious facial condition.

Their faces look exactly the same, and according to them, they changed over time.

Youtube/Truly

Unfortunately, they hadn’t visited a doctor in order to try to detect the cause of their condition until they became famous on TikTok. Even then, no one was able to detect the exact reason which lead to these people’s faces to change drastically.

Recently, sisters Sri, Mairani, Tiur, and their brother Surya appeared on camera for the YouTube channel Truly where they spoke of their condition and how it affects their lives. After considering a number of theories, the siblings settled on the idea that their condition is a result of genetics.

“I always used to think about it; Why am I so different to my sisters and brother?” Tiur, the only sibling without the condition, told Truly.

“But when I got older, what I realized was that it must be genetics from our parents. My sisters and brother inherited it from my father, and I am more like my mother.

“We think that their condition right now isn’t a problem day-to-day. If it did cause problems, like tiredness, they would go to the doctor for a check-up,” Tiur explained. “Now, their condition doesn’t affect their lives, so it’s not an issue.”

Youtube/Truly

As they haven’t been provided with a diagnosis, because doctors are unable to find out what exactly caused these siblings’ faces to change, there are a few possible explanations.

According to some, the members of this family might be suffering from a rare condition called Parry-Romberg Syndrome which according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke is a condition “where the tissue of one side of the face gradually wastes away.” This condition is incurable but “immunosuppressant drugs and other medicines may help treat some neurological symptoms. Other treatment focuses on treating other symptoms.”

Another possible condition the Manurungs might be suffering from is Treacher Collins, a genetic disorder resulting in congenital craniofacial malformation which affects the development of bones and other tissues of the face.

A third possibility could be the so-called Barber Say Syndrome, which is usually present from birth and causes malformations in a newborn’s body.

Youtube/Truly

The siblings are well accepted by the people who live in the village, but when they go to the town, they usually get stared at.

“When we walk around our village, we don’t have any problems. No one makes fun of us, no one insults us in our village,” Surya said.

“But if we leave here and go out of town, people who never seen us before for sure, they look surprised when they do. The fact is our faces changed, but we accept it and just live with it. We are thankful for it, it’s a gift from God. That’s how we see it.”

Youtube/Truly

Tiur added: “I feel bad that they’re not like me. I have a normal life without bullying, without being mocked, without being ridiculed by others. When they feel sad because of that, I do too.”

The family decided to use their specific looks to gain the attention of people worldwide and spread a message that we should all embrace our physical appearance and learn to love ourselves they way we are.

Youtube/KeluargaManurung

They decided to start posting videos on TikTok where have over 2.9 million followers. They post videos of themselves dancing and show the world how they live. At the same time, they use the platform as a way of earning money.

“We went viral on TikTok,” mother Mardiah Manurung said. “Since then people thought we did it for pity, but that’s not true. We’ve used this as an opportunity of going viral of hoping to earn a living to raise our living standards.”

Since the documentary about this family aired on Truly some 18 months ago, Surya got married to a beautiful woman named Shasa Puspita Dew.

This family inspires many and they are the perfect proof that appearance is not everything.
