Chauncy Glover, three-time Emmy-winning journalist and news anchor for CBS affiliate KCAL, died aged 39, his family confirmed.

Before joining KCAL in October 2023, Glover spent eight years as a news anchor at Houston’s KTRC-13 station, an ABC affiliate, where he became the first Black male main evening host in the station’s history.

The family confirmed his sudden passing on the same day, November 5, 2024. In the statement they released, they highlighted his work and talent.

Glover’s rich career as a news anchor was marked by his deep commitment to quality news and community service.

Glover was born in Alabama, and showed his love for writing at a very early age. As a child, he showed interest in boats.

When he wasn’t on air, the beloved news anchor was busy running The Chauncy Glover Project. 

According to the website, the project “is an extensive, hands-on mentoring program, created to groom inner-city teenage boys into upstanding and accomplished gentlemen.”

Further, it says, “This culturally specific intervention for Black and Latino male youth focuses on Education, Manhood, and Self-Empowerment.”
