Young man saves child locked inside a car – faces unexpected reaction

The day was as hot as it gets during the peak of summer. There were barely any people on the streets when Oliver finished work and headed home. The 30 degrees Celsius heat made it unbearable for anyone to function properly.

The air shimmered, the asphalt radiated heat into his feet.

As he was trying to get home as soon as possible, a sudden crying made him stop.

Near the supermarket, in the middle of the empty parking lot, there was a parked car with a small child locked inside.

The car’s windows were dark and tinted, and as he approached and took a closer look, he realized the child, who was obviously extremely hot and struggling because of the high temperatures, was no older than a year.

His face was red and his eyes were barely opened. The boy’d lips were cracked from thirst.

Oliver didn’t hesitate when he tried opening the car’s door. But it was locked, just like the rest of them. He screamed for help, but the parking lot was empty and no one heard his cries.

Scared for the boy’s well-being, he decided to act.

Nearby, there was a stone he could use to break the car’s window, and although an inner voice told him to call emergency service and wait for them to arrive, he was afraid it could be too late, so he did what he believed was for the best and broke the window, taking the child out.

Oliver rushed the little one to the nearest hospital. He was running so fast with the child in his arms that when he finally arrived, he didn’t feel his legs.

“HELP!” he shouted, and a nurse ran over.

“The child… in the car… heat… he…” Oliver barely managed to say.

When they looked at the boy, the doctors said he took him out of the hot vehicle just in time. Had the little one stayed inside even minutes longer, the consequences could be fatal.

But around fifteen minutes later, the boy’s mother arrived. When she learned it was Oliver who took the baby out of her fancy car, instead of thanking him for acting quickly, she was outraged over the broken glass.

“I was away for a few minutes only and you broke my car’s window. I demand you to pay for the damage, otherwise, I’m calling the police,” she threatened.

Oliver couldn’t believe — even minutes were a lot of time for a child to be locked inside a car during the unbearable heat.

When the police arrived, she pointed towards Oliver and said, “This man is crazy. He broke into my car.”

The officers questioned Oliver and spoke to the doctors who confirmed that the boy was severely dehydrated and on the verge of suffering from heatstroke.

Then they turned to the mother and said, “Madam, you are looking at potential loss of parental rights and criminal charges for endangering this child’s life.”

As of Oliver, they praised his action and dubbed it heroic.

But Oliver didn’t want praise. He also didn’t want the mother to be punished. He only did what he believed to be the right thing at the time.

Three major US regions could face mega tsunami, experts warn

Experts issued a warning about a massive 8.0-magnitude earthquake that could strike parts of the US in the next 50 years — the first in over 300 years. The possible waves created could reach 1,000-foot, threatening to wash away entire communities.

The warnings of a “mega tsunami” striking US regions have been made by Virginia Tech and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The earthquake could occur along the Cascadia subduction zone — a 600-mile convergent plate boundary that extends from northern California to southern British Columbia.

Alaska, Hawaii, and the West Coast all said to be at risk due to their proximity to unstable volcanoes, landslide-prone areas, and earthquake zones, Mail Online reports.

The Cascadia subduction zone/ Google Earth

Further, the study suggests that it could cause coastal land to sink up to 6.5 feet.

“The expansion of the coastal floodplain following a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake has not been previously quantified, and the impacts to land use could significantly increase the timeline to recovery,” Tina Dura, lead author of the study and assistant professor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Geosciences, said in a statement.

During the last mega-wave event that affected these areas in 1700, the land sank, and dead trees that form “ghost forests” along the Pacific Northwest coast stand as silent witnesses to the catastrophe.

NOAA

According to the US Geological Survey, one of the biggest earthquakes they have a record of is the Great Alaska Earthquake that occurred in 1964. It was with a magnitude of 9.2.

If such a destructive quake hit today, the prognosis are that “14,350 residents, 22,500 structures, and 777 miles of roadway would fall within the post-earthquake floodplain,” according to Dura.

NOAA

“Preparing for these compound hazards can minimise long-term damage, ensure resilient communities, and protect critical coastal ecosystems from permanent degradation. Our findings aim to support decision-makers and coastal residents in the Cascadia Subduction Zone—and globally—as they brace for the combined challenges of seismic activity and climate-driven changes,” the research continued.

The predictions are that by the year 2100, sea levels will rise by another three feet, which will further increase the risk of tsunami damage to US regions.

My wife lost her memory — but my boss knew her secret past

When I met Zoe, she was scared and confused. It turned out she had lost her memory and had no recollections from her past life, but she had started over and learned how to live her life again.

She only knew she’d survived a car crash eight years ago and that many doctors tried to help her regain her lost memory but they all failed over and over again.

Over time, we became close and started a relationship, tying the knot eventually.

Zoe became a published author and some of her books became bestsellers.

Our life seemed picture perfect, until the truth about her past was revealed.

When the manager of the company I worked for got fired, a new boss—Michael—from out of state joined the company.

He was nice enough to organize a get-to-know party for the employees where a plus-one was welcomed to attend. Of course, I brought Zoe with me not knowing the event would change our lives forever.

When I introduced Zoe to Michael, he stared at her as though he had seen a ghost. After a couple of seconds, he managed to utter, “Stella?”

Zoe seemed confused. She stared back at him without saying a word as Michael proceeded. “Stella, we’ve been looking for you for eight years. You’ve been here this entire time?”

I stood there frozen. My wife’s past cracked open right in front of us.

However, Zoe didn’t recognize Michael, or at least that’s what she claimed.

Before I was able to ask more questions, other people joined in, and moments later, I spotted Zoe talking to Michael. I approached them, making sure they don’t see I was there when I heard her say, “Please Michael, don’t tell anyone you’ve found me. I have started my life over, please don’t ruin this for me.”

And that’s when I realized that Zoe knew exactly who she was.

I couldn’t keep quiet and confronted her. She started crying and explained that her lost memory returned some two years ago, and she was too scared to share that with me, not wanting her past life to affect our present.

It turned out that when she got involved in the crash, she was together with her ex-boyfriend who was abusive. In fact, when the police found her, he wasn’t by her side but left her there to die.

Michael confirmed her story.

At that moment, my wife, the person I loved and trusted unconditionally, felt like a perfect stranger.

But I loved her for who she was, and I was willing to protect her from her past no matter what. I promised to never let anyone hurt her ever again.

This felt like a yet new beginning for the both of us.

Trump shows off ‘wrinkled and bruised hands’ amid health fear

Despite being 79, President Donald Trump is said to be in great shape—at least according to Dr. Sean Barbabella, who performed Trump’s first physical examination, which also included a cognitive assessment, since his return to the White House.

“President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Barbabella wrote in his report regarding the test results. “He remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and general physical function.

“His active lifestyle continues to contribute significantly to his well-being.”

Dr. Barbabella also shared that the president had underwent a colonoscopy in 2024 after discovering he had diverticulitis and a benign polyp. Trump was also reported to be taking medications for cholesterol and cardiac protection, in addition to a cream for a “skin condition.”

According to Barbabella, Trump had bilateral cataract surgery at some point.

Despite this, fears over Trump and his health emerged when the public spotted his hands being bruised during several occasions.

These fears were, however, dismissed by the White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt who claimed the bruises were a result of a lot of handshakes.

“President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day every day.”

The president himself confirmed this in his interview with Time Magazine.

However, since recent photos of Trump’s hands showed visible bruises and wrinkles yet again, speculations arose.

According to Dr. Ola Otulana, a general practitioner and doctor at the Cassiobury Court rehabilitation facility in Watford, the bruise on the president’s right hand seems “consistent with a superficial contusion.” This means it can be a result of “minor trauma” like bumping into something, or possibly from having blood drawn.

“This could happen from something as commonplace as bumping the hand against a hard surface, repeated pressure like leaning on a cane or gripping something firmly, or even medical procedures like venepuncture or blood draw,” Dr. Otulana said, per Economic Times.

The doctor does not rule out the possibility that Trump’s bruises could be due to medications such as blood thinners, aspirin, and other anti-inflammatory drugs.

These medications could “make bruises appear more easily and linger longer, which could be the case here.” He, however, states that the condition with the president’s hands shouldn’t raise red flags.

Trump’s bruised hands aren’t the only fear the public has regarding his health. Recently, during the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that he attended, people claimed he was wearing a catheter under his suit.

Avoid these common mistakes when drinking water

The human’s body is made up of about 60% water on average. This percentage wary based on age, sex, and body composition.

In order for your body to function properly and efficiently, you need to keep it hydrated.

Water is crucial for most bodily functions, including controlling body temperature, aiding digestion, and facilitating the movement of nutrients and waste in and out of cells.

Throughout the day, the body loses water through sweat, urine, breath, and body movements. So, it is essential to take enough water in order to make up for these loses.

Otherwise, it can lead to dehydration.

But what if your water drinking habits are poor, insufficient, or simply wrong?

Experts advise drinking at least eight to ten glasses of water per day. However, the quantity you consume isn’t the sole factor to consider. In fact, knowing the right way to drink water is essential for achieving the best health benefits.

1. Drinking water while standing

According to Ayurveda, considered by many scholars the oldest healing science, you should avoid drinking water while standing because that way it goes to your lower belly, not reaching the organs.

“One’s nerves get tensed while drinking water when standing. It can disturb the fluid balance, and cause indigestion,” says Dr Pritam Moon, a consultant physician.

    2. Drinking too much water

If you believed there is no such a thing like too much water, you are wrong. In fact, consuming too much water can lead to hyponatremia, a condition when the sodium level in your blood drops too low. Symptoms include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, headache and confusion.

Also, drinking too much water can cause swelling of the heart and the brain, as well as seizures and coma.

    3. Consuming water too quickly

Since the body needs time to adjust to the temperature of the water, drinking it too quickly will prevent the body to do so which can lead to stomach cramps and nausea.

    4. Drinking water during meals

While water is essential for your body, consuming it during meals can sometimes cause bloating and indigestion. This is because the stomach may struggle to digest both solids and liquids at the same time.

    5. Having ice-cold water

Ice-cold water may interfere with proper digestion. Although a glass of cold water sounds refreshing, especially during the hot summer days, it may shock the digestive system, tighten the blood vessels, and even slow down the heart rate.

In addition, it forces your body to work harder in order to regain balance.

It would be for the best to choose room temperature water instead.

Stage 4 cancer patient warns overlooked minor signs can mask a fatal disease

Susan Schmidt, a mother of two from Australia, was dealt a huge blow when diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer after she overlooked the mild symptoms. She’s now sharing her story in hopes of helping others catch the disease that turned her world upside down early.

When she received the devastating diagnosis in September 2023, Susan was 45.

“The diagnosis is incurable,” she shared with The Daily Mail. “The goal now is to stay well for as long as I can. I’ll probably resume chemotherapy after my next overseas trip.”

According to Susan, people don’t tend to speak openly about their bowel habits since the topic is still considered taboo, but she believes that needs to change in order to help raise awareness.

“I didn’t talk about my bowel habits, who does?” she said. “That’s part of the problem with bowel cancer. People don’t raise the alarm early enough.”

    Susan Schmidt

Recalling the symptoms she experienced before learning she had stage 4 bowel cancer, Susan said that such diagnosis never crossed her mind.

What she experienced was fatigue, constipation, and two really intense episodes of pain. She added that she had never noticed blood in her stool.

The first sign she experienced was unrelenting tiredness. This happened just four months before her diagnosis.

“I’d drive my daughter 15 minutes to rowing, then have to stop on the way home and nap for 40 minutes,” Susan, who worked as physiotherapist recalled. “That’s not normal. That was a warning sign, but I brushed it off.”

Later on, during a trip to France for a friend’s wedding, she experienced constipation for the first time in her life.

“I just wasn’t going properly. I blamed the rich food, too much cheese, too much indulgence.” She added: “I didn’t think much of it.”

The symptoms worsened after she returned to Brisbane when she “ended up on the bathroom floor in absolute agony. Vomiting, diarrhoea, unbearable pain. It lasted for eight hours.”

Initially, she believed she caught salmonella from her horse that had the infection.

“It was worse than childbirth. I was crawling into the shower, trying to relieve the pain with heat. It was a nine out of ten on the pain scale,” she told The Daily Mail.

    Susan Schmidt

When she visited the hospital, they weren’t looking for cancer, and she was told she was fine. But it wasn’t long after that she was told she had stage 4 bowel cancer.

“I want people to know the signs. I want them to push for answers if something feels off,” she said. “Even if your blood work is normal, even if they say it’s stress, diet, or hormones, listen to your instincts.”

Susan has since launched The Floozie Foundation, whose goal is “to build the resilience of patients and their support networks in adult cancer wards around Australia.”

In an emotional Father’s Day message, Bruce Willis’ daughter, Rumer Willis, shared an update on her father’s battle with frontotemporal dementia.

The Die Hard star received the devastating diagnosis in 2023. A year prior, the family shared that he suffered from aphasia, a condition that affected his cognitive abilities. With the diagnosis came the news of his retiring from acting.

His family provided him with extreme support and has been updating his fans of Bruce’s condition regularly.

Expressing her pain, Rumer wrote “Today is hard, I feel a deep ache in my chest to talk to you and tell you everything I’m doing and what’s going on in my life.

“To hug you and ask you about life and your stories and struggles and successes. I wish I asked you more questions while you could still tell me about it all.”

    Instagram/Rumer Willis

Her message to her father continued: “But I know you wouldn’t want me to be sad today so I’ll try to just be grateful reminding myself how lucky I am that you’re my dad and that you’re still with me and I can still hold you and hug you and kiss your cheek and rub your head I can tell you stories.

“I can watch the way your eyes light up when you see Louetta I will be grateful for every moment I have with you. I love you so much dad happy Father’s Day. Sending love to all those who are in the boat with me or have lost their fathers, to the single moms who are the dads too, to my future baby daddy…❤️”

Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, also paid tribute to the actor on Father’s Day.

Since her husband’s diagnosis, Emma took on the role of advocate, offering honest glimpses into the powerful highs and crushing lows of their new normal.

Back in 2024, Emma shared with Town & Country: “As his language started changing, it (seemed like it) was just a part of a stutter, it was just Bruce. Never in a million years would I think it would be a form of dementia for someone so young.

“I say that FTD whispers, it doesn’t shout. It’s hard for me to say, this is where Bruce ended, and this is where his disease started to take over.”

The dog named Hope who changed my life

When I went to the hardware store that slow weeknight when the aisles are half-stocked to grab some duck tape and some batteries, I never assumed a sudden encounter would change my life forever.

As I was walking along the aisles, I spotted a dog. Just sitting. Calm. Perfectly still.

There was a leash stretching on the floor, looking as though someone dropped it and walked off.

I tried to look for the owner, but there was no one around. After ten minutes passed, I figured I should take the dog—whose name, Hope, was written on a tag with no number or address—to the front desk and ask if anyone had reported a missing dog.

When the cashier spotted Hope, she said, “I guess she doesn’t have an owner. She comes to the store every now and then and we simply let her in. Never with anyone. Just… appears. And waits.”

I got curious. “Wait for what?” I asked.

The cashier shrugged. But then she said something that sent a chill down my spine.

“I believe she waits for her owner who will never show up. You know how dogs are. They wait until forever, and never get tired.”

Hope’s owner either left her behind or passed away, and she was still waiting for them to appear and take her home.

At that moment, my heart broke into a million pieces.

That evening, I took the dog home, and Hope settled into my couch as though she had always belonged there.

The following day, I made flyers, half hoping that no one will come forward.

Over the following days, Hope started transforming my life. My mornings grew calmer, and my nights quieter. She provided me with the peace and purpose I didn’t even know I need.

Some two weeks later, Hope left the house and I followed after her. Not surprisingly, she headed towards the hardware store where I found her and sat by the door.

As I approached closer, I noticed something on the nearby bulletin board. There was a photo of a woman with Hope. It read, “In Loving Memory of Maria Ellison, 1974–2025. She always believed in second chances.”

Hope wasn’t lost. She had been returning to that place honoring someone who meant everything to her; someone she loved and never forgot.

Today, Hope and I have a mission—volunteering and helping people heal emotionally.
