If you see a man with one painted fingernail, here’s what it means

0

When Elliot Costello and a group of other people visited Cambodia, he had an encounter with a young girl named Thea.

Little did Elliot know that this encounter would have an impact so profound on him that it would help start a movement whose goal is to end sexual abuse against children.

Namely, Thea always had nail polish on her tiny nails. One day, as she and Elliot chatted, she asked to paint one of his nails. He agreed and was happy to speak to the chatty girl, but he then learned that she was once a victim of sexual abuse.

“As she painted one of my nails, I assured her I would always keep it that way to remember her, and by extension, her suffering,” Elliot said.

This motivated Elliot to try and make positive change among men so that less and less children fall victims of sexual abuse.

That is when he came up with the movement called #PolishedMan where men put nail polish on one of their nails. That one nail represents the one in five children who will be victims of sexual violence.

Polished Man works towards ending sexual violence against children. According to the organization, “being a Polished Man means challenging violent behavior and language, both locally and globally.”

Elliot believes that since men are responsible for 96% of this type of violence against children globally, they should be catalyst for change if we are ever to see an end to the abuse of innocent children.

The goal with the painted nail isn’t just to remind people of the number of children who are abused every single day, but to serve as a conversation starter about this reality, leading to new ideas about prevention. He also hopes that people will start donating to “support educational programs and resources for child survivors of abuse,” as per APlus.

We hope that more men, including celebrities would be willing to join this movement.

Dad of 6 suddenly collapses & dies moving son into college dorm

0

Jeremy Tillman was a father of six and was recently engaged to a woman who had six children on her own.

The couple were proud of their large, blended family, but then suddenly, Jeremy’s life was cut short.

Namely, one of his children was starting college and he was helping him move into the dorm when he suddenly collapsed. Emergency personnel from the university attempted life-saving measures but to no avail. Jeremy died, leaving his large family behind.

The Arkansas father’s fiancé, Elizabeth Goodson, opened up about the loss of the man she was planning to spend the rest of her life with.

“He came through the door, and he was in obvious distress,” Elizabeth told KARK. “He just had a very sudden medical event as we were moving things in. I guess he may have strained too hard.”

Despite the attempts to revive her fiancé failed, Elizabeth expressed her gratitude to the university’s emergency personnel for their fast reaction. “I will say the school did a very good job of assisting in every way possible and making sure everyone was moved,” she shared.

Jeremy was a devoted father and an incredible man.

“Despite working full-time and part-time at home, he rarely missed important events, and he always made time for movie nights, soccer in the yard, or pull-up competitions. He showed our children how a man should treat a woman, and how to be intentional with your word,” Elizabeth said.

“He was selfless, and always worked hard to ensure everyone had the things that they wanted and needed, often to his own detriment. He loved all our children, and was the epitome of what a man and father should be,” she shared with Today.

According to the family, Jeremy worked as a service technician for Cogswell Motors for 25 years and was loved by all his colleagues.

“To know him was to love him. From always smiling to cracking jokes, no job was too big or small for him to lend a helping hand,” the dealership posted on Facebook.

Arkansas State University also shared a statement regarding Jeremy’s untimely passing.

“Chancellor Todd Shields and Arkansas State University extend deepest condolences to student Jace Tillman. The university community will continue to support Jace and keep his family in their thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time,” the statement reads, per Today.

Jeremy is survived by five children. One of his daughters, Cassie Tillman, preceded him in death.

His other daughter, Hannah Brazil, expressed her heartbreak over her father’s passing in a Facebook post.

“My sweet father, this feels unreal. When our family had troubling news I had you to hold me, wipe my tears away. Now not being able to hug you and you tell me you are here breaks my heart. The smell of coffee coming off your breath when you talked,” the post reads. “the car grease smell that was on all the furniture in the house. Your crazy (sometimes funny) dad jokes you would say when I had slumber parties. The mornings where you would stop at the gas station on the way to work/school to grab me a chocolate milk and you a coffee. when we would be traveling to an away game and you would fart and lock the windows.”

“The random phone calls we would have after I moved out just talking about life. you becoming a grandpa. These memories and much more will always stay,” the post continues. “I realize now why you always told me I was strong, you new one day I would need the strength to bear your loss. I just never imagined it would come this soon. I love you forever. Fly high with Cassie I’ll see you again one day.”

We are so very sorry for this family’s loss.

Jennifer Aniston slams celebrity culture, says Hollywood filled with people famous for ‘doing nothing’

0

“Famous for being famous,” or as the Friends star Jennifer Aniston puts it, “Famous for doing nothing.”

The actress spoke of her recent plans and projects with actor Sebastian Stan on the Variety’s series Actors on Actors when the topic about influencers was scratched. Aniston didn’t hold back and said, “I always say I feel lucky that we got a little taste of the industry before it became what it is today, which is just different — more streaming services, more people.”

The actress said she had names in mind of people who became famous without having any talents. “Famous for basically doing nothing. I mean — Paris Hilton, Monica Lewinsky, all those,” she explained.

Further, she went on to say that the way actors become famous nowadays because of Instagram and TikTok feels like “It’s almost like it’s diluting the actor’s job.”

Well, she did share her honest opinion, but that left many unhappy.

In fact, the actress came under fire when people started questioning her ways to Hollywood, saying that she only got the opportunity to act because her parents were famous.

Aniston is daughter of legendary actor John Aniston, who has been a staple on the long-running show Days of Our Lives. Her mom, Nancy Dow, was also a very famous name in the film industry.

Many accused Aniston of taking advantage of the nepotism that is present in the industry.

Some pointed out to Aniston’s entitlement at wanting to gate-keep Hollywood and fame and said that according to her, only the children of the famous people can be famous.

It looks like Jennifer Aniston has a strong opinion regarding influencer culture.

American Pickers has been on for over a decade and people seem to love it. The two travel around the United States to “pick” various items for resale, for clients, or for their personal collections.

They scavenge people’s homes, garages, and basements for treasure.

Over the course of more than 300 episodes, Wolfe and Frank have become one of the most famous TV duos, but their relationship seems to have broken down. Frank revealed that he and Wolfe haven’t spoken in two years.

Mike Wolfe, shared that the show suffered loss when Bob Peterson, who had appeared on the series during many occasions, passed away.

“A few days ago we lost a man that we looked to as a mentor. Not just with mechanical things but in how we should live our lives. Bob was an example to us as someone that loved life and seized each day with so much passion. Always there to help with such conviction and of course humor. He was from an era that we can only romanticize about now. My life and so many others lives were better with him in it. He will be greatly missed. I love you my friend,” Wolfe wrote.

Many of the show’s fans offered their support and their condolences. Man what a sweet laugh and cool disposition. Sorry for you loss my brother,” one person wrote. “I loved watching him and Robbie working on projects,” another fan added.

Remembering the man who sang the best love songs of all time: Rest in peace, Burt Bacharach

0

Burt Bacharach, one of the most famous composers of 20th century pop music died at the age of 94.

The news of his passing had been shared by Bacharach’s publicist, who told Associated Press that the acclaimed composer died of natural causes due to old age.

Most of Bacharach’s songs marked entire eras, including the 50s’, 60s’, 70s’ and the 80s’. Not only he created some of the most iconic movie soundtrack songs, but he helped many music stars reach the top charts. Over the course of his career, he scored more than 50 chart hits in the US and UK, with artists such as Warwick, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones, Aretha Franklin and Elvis Costello, among the rest.

Bacharach most often collaborated with lyricist Hal David and together they created enduring hits such as What The World Needs Now Is Love, I Say A Little Prayer, Walk on By, Alfie, What’s New Pussycat? and many more. The list is endless.

In 2008, when Bacharach received the lifetime achievement Grammy, he was hailed music’s “greatest living composer.” In addition to this award, he won three Oscars, two Golden Globes, and five more Grammy awards.

Bacharach was both an innovator and throwback who triumphed in many art forms; Truly one of a kind.

He was married four times, but the strongest bond he had ever formed was that with creation of music, something he was entirely devoted to and loved doing.

Bacharach was born in Kansas City, Missouri but grew up in Kew Gardens, New York. Even when he was still just a child, he showed interest in music, most specifically, jazz.

Many found his music as “easy listening,” and old-fashioned style. His buoyant pop songs and smooth, jazzy instrumentals marked the 1960s. His songs can be heard in both Mad Men and Austin Powers. Bacharach made a memorable appearance in the second Austin Powers film, performing I’ll Never Fall in Love Again on an open top bus with Elvis Costello and was loved for his cameos in the Austin Powers film franchise.

What’s most, the song The Look of Love influenced the idea of Austin Powers in Mike Myers as he was driving home from hockey practice, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Did I arrive at that intellectually? No,” he told Rolling Stone in 1999.

“I arrived at it by hearing the song ‘The Look of Love,’ the national anthem of libido, and thinking, ‘Where have all the swingers gone?'”

Speaking of Bacharach, Costello said in a 2018 interview with The Associated Press, “The shorthand version of [Bacharach] is that he’s something to do with easy listening.

“It may be agreeable to listen to these songs, but there’s nothing easy about them. Try playing them. Try singing them.”

While writing some of his most unforgettable songs, Bacharach was going through a period of grief. After four failed marriages, he lost his 40-year-old autistic daughter to suicide. She could feel something was wrong with her when he was still young, but it took doctors thirty years to diagnose her with Asperger’s syndrome. Six years later, she took her own life.

These hardships touched Bacharach’s soul and that pain affected his music in the most profound ways possible.

Rest in peace Burt Bacharach, your songs will live forever.

Sobbing Loudoun County teacher quits in protest over CRT lessons during school board meeting

0

Loudoun County, Virginia, teacher Laura Morris resigned from the position of a teacher which she held for a majority of her career while she gave an emotional speech against the prevalence of critical race theory and other political objectives in public schools during a board meeting.

Morris, a fifth grade teacher at Lucketts Elementary School, told the board, “I’m a Christian woman, and they’ve said they don’t want us here. I’ve found employment elsewhere.”

Her speech and her resignation were a form of a protest against the policies of the school board.

Among the rest, she accused the school board of forcing her ‘to push highly-politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents – the children’ and explained that teachers were highly encouraged to report any colleagues who were speaking against the teaching programs they were forced to follow.

Morris added that she felt like she could no longer be a part of an organization that convinced her ‘white, Christian, able-bodied females’ needed to be reined in.

“This summer I have struggled with the idea of returning to school, knowing that I’ll be working yet again with a school division that, despite its shiny tech and flashy salary, promotes political ideologies that do not square with who I am as a believer in Christ,” Morris said.

“I am very sad about some things that I am giving up and leaving behind, but regret is not the word … I don’t regret what I did,” she told Fox News after her speech went viral. “I don’t regret anything I said, and I don’t regret anything I did — because I … was happy to do this.”

Loudoun County has drawn national attention as parents and administrators spar over controversial teaching material and a recent transgender policy, which was approved by the board.

Morris’ speech was triggered by all this and by her disapproval of the excessive focus on “equity trainings” and the imposition of political views on the pupils.

Critical race theory and educational equity remain hotly debated topics across the country. The schools need to carefully consider how to handle these issues.

Football players think pep rally is over until their moms line up for epic dance

0

Moms would go to any length for their children, and if that involves getting part in a dance routine in front of the entire school, so be it.

The football team at Steele High School were heading to the playoffs so the school decided to throw a pep rally for them. Everyone was having a blast and then the announcer said there were special guests who would perform for the crowd.

In the next moment, a group of women with white masks on their faces took the ‘stage.’

As they hit the center court, all eyes were on them, and people started wondering who could they be.

The 11 women stood in formation and started their routine, which was an awesome one indeed.

YouTube

The crowd started cheering and applauding, still not knowing who’s behind those masks. Some time later, the dancers pulled their masks off and the players were flabbergasted to learn it was their moms who danced their hearts out in order to celebrate their success.

It was later revealed that they managed to learn the steps with the help of a student who came up with the choreography and by watching videos of Silentó’s “Watch Me” and of the iHeart Memphis’s “Hit The Quan.”

YouTube

Melissa Fields, one of the moms who was part of the dance routine, said she suffered from nervousness and stage-fright, but managed to overcome both because she knew she was doing all that to make her son happy. Also, she appreciated the opportunity “to come out of our comfort zone.”

“If I went to a club right now, I wouldn’t know what to do,” she added. “I went on YouTube and thought ‘Oh no, there is no way we would be able to pull this off.’”

But she did! And all the other moms did it.

YouTube

The moment the football players came down to hug their moms was worth all the time spent practicing.

You can take a look at the video below. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we did.

Flight attendant gives hilarious response to an arrogant rich woman

0

A very well dressed woman at this person’s flight refused to raise her tray when asked to do so by the gay flight attendant. Instead, she showed some pretty rude behavior, but how the flight attendant dealt with her cheekiness has everyone laughing.

Make sure you read it till the end.

My flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who was camping it up outrageously. He seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served us food and drinks.

As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and told us:

”Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that he’ll be landing the big scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could just put your trays up, that would be super.”

On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed an extremely well-dressed and exotic young woman hadn’t moved a muscle.

“Perhaps you didn’t hear me over those big brute engines but I asked you to raise your tray, so the main man can pitty-pat us on the ground.”

She calmly turned her head and said, “In my country, I am called a Princess and I take orders from no one.”

To which the flight attendant replied, without missing a beat:

“Well, sweet-cheeks, in my country I’m called a Queen, so I outrank you. Tray up, Bitch.”

We didn’t see this coming, did you? 🙂
