Are airline companies doing enough to accommodate curvier passengers and ensure their comfort during flights? According to plus-size influencer Emily Jones, the answer to this question is a resounding “no.”
Jones, who frequently travels between Malta, the UK, and Finland, believes the travel industry, as well as the hotels from around the world, should impose changes that would better suit the needs of oversize travelers.
This influencer shares her journeys on her Instagram account, @miss__jones, encouraging plus-size people to get out of their comfort zone and explore the world.
“I want to promote easy travel for people of all sizes and shapes – and make them feel they deserve to see the world just like other people,” she says.

One of the changes she believes airplanes should do in order to better serve larger individuals by creating a a safe and welcoming space for them, is to make extend the length of seatbelts.
“Seeing this being destigmatized, so people can travel comfortably and without the added anxiety, would be a dream come true,” she posted on the social media.
Jones also advocates for more spacious seating options, or at least additional cushioning and adjustable armrests.
When it comes to accommodation, Jones wants hotels to provide large towels and bathrobes in order to create a welcoming feeling to plus-size guests.

As she’s sharing her journeys with her followers, Jones says that the situation regarding larger individuals is indeed changing for the better as more and more hotels offer conditions that make these individuals feel included.
Based on her own personal experience, one of the best places that offer warm and welcoming environment for plus-size tourists are the Seychelles in Africa.

Kamala Harris has broken her months-long silence, and according to many, she said exactly what most of us are thinking.
Harris, who lost the presidential elections to Donald Trump, spoke of the feeling of fear sweeping across the United States under the current president’s renewed leadership.
In a speech at Leading Women Defined Summit in California on April 3, Harris indirectly touched the subject of the tariffs Trump imposed on nations worldwide as well as his many actions and the signings of executive orders, most of which contradict with the law. In fact, her words referred to the situation that he created with his actions.

“When one person, when a few stand with the courage, that is the courage exhibited by the leaders in this room every day.
“To have the courage to say I feel fear, the courage to say what is happening is wrong, the courage to say that there is a way that we must chart to get through this.
“Understanding our power in the democracy that we still have if we hold on to it.
“Courage is contagious.”
She went on to say, “These are the things we’re witnessing day after day in recent months. And yes — it creates fear. Because many of the things we’re seeing… we knew were coming. I’m not here to say, ‘I told you so.’”
Kamala Harris added that people, as well as organizations, are staying quiet, and that “we are seeing capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats.”
Representative Jamie Raskin backed up Harris’ opinion during an interview with Jen Psaki on MSNBC. Just like the former vice-president, Raskin believes the Democrats have been wrongly accused of not being vocal enough.
“People kept asking, ‘Where’s the Democratic leadership?’” Raskin said. “But the reality is, it takes time to absorb the full impact of what’s happening. We’re dealing with an all-out attempt at authoritarian control, the purging of federal workers — attacks on every front.”
He added that the Democrats are standing their ground. “Now, everyone is in a fighting mood.”

Following her loss of the elections, Harris has kept a low profile, but she’s now again stepping into the spotlight.
According to The Grio, she’s considering running for California governor in 2026.

Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they come in the form of a 13-year-old whose quick thinking saved the lives of students on a school bus after the driver lost consciousness.
The day started as any other for teenager Dillon Reeves from Michigan, but it soon turned into an ordeal.
Namely, while at the school bus, Dillon noticed the vehicle “swerving” and got worried. Trying to make sure everything was fine, he checked on the driver and realized her head had dropped and her eyes were closed. What’s most, her foot wasn’t on the pedals and she wasn’t holding the steering wheel.
“It just didn’t seem right,” Dillon said.
Becoming aware of the danger and the possibility of the bus going over a curb, he took matters into his own hands. Bravely, he grabbed the steering wheel and prevented it from hitting into a car by turning it around.

Dillon managed to press the breaks of school bus No. 46, bringing it to a stop. Inside the bus, there were 60 students whom he brought to safety.
Once the bus was not moving, he instructed his friends to call 911.
Luckily, no one was injured, and the footage of the bus showed the students screaming in panic and fearing for their safety and their lives.
Paramedics took the bus driver to the hospital, and she later went home. They reported she was doing well
After the incident, the driver reached out to Dillon’s stepmother, Ireta Reeves, thanking Dillon for his bravery.
“I’m so thankful Dillon was on the bus that day,” she began.
“His swift actions saved lives and property and he deserves all the attention for his bravery. He was asking a few months back about being a bus driver, how old did you have to be and if it was hard,” the message continued.
“He thought he might want to be a bus driver one day. It’s a great job. I love it. But I hope Dillon can see his potential to be so much more.”

Dillon’s dad said he was extremely proud of his son.
“This is overwhelming for all of us […] He is very attentive to his surroundings.”
The entire community dubbed him a real life hero, but Dillon says he didn’t think he did much, all he did was stop the school bus.
What a humble young man.

Four-year-old Marnie Moore from Lancashire had a popular drink that left her “floppy and unconscious,” leading her distressed mother to issue warning to other parents of young children.
The girl was at a children’s party when her mom, Kim Moore, bough her two daughters one-liter refillable cups of slushy drinks. Marnie was playing and was occasionally taking a sip from the drink.
However, after a while, she started showing signs of agitation. The girl became extremely sleepy, which made her mom believe she was just tired. But it didn’t take long before Kim understood something serious was going on.

“It was only five minutes later when I tried to wake her up that I realised she wasn’t waking up and was actually unconscious. She’d gone really pale,” Kim explained.
“She wasn’t rousing at all and I think it was mum’s instinct that I knew something wasn’t right. She was floppy and completely unconscious.
“I was shaking her trying to wake her up and there was nothing.”
Marnie was transferred to the local hospital where she remained unconscious for about 25 minutes while doctors tried to raise her blood sugar levels.

She stayed at the hospital for three days before being discharged.
Kim explained that she suspected the slushy drink could be the cause of her daughter’s condition because it was the only thing she consumed that day that was out of the ordinary.
She said her daughter suffered glycerol toxicity, from the glycerol used in the slushy drinks instead of sugar to keep the drink’s “slush” effect.
“In hospital, she screamed out in agony saying her head hurt and threw up everywhere,” Kim recalled. “Looking back, she had every single symptom of glycerol toxicity. We got transferred to another hospital and they had no idea what had caused it. We started looking into the slushy because that was the only thing differently she’d had that day.”

Marnie’s case isn’t the only one of a child suffering glycerol toxicity because of a slushy drink.
In fact, experts have been warning of the dangers of this drink for quite some time, urging parents not to give it to children younger than 8.
Last year, 4-year-old Albie Green collapsed and faced a near-death experience shortly after consuming an iced slushy drink.
“I personally wouldn’t allow my child to drink one at all. It’s not a risk I’m willing to take,” Kim said. “I don’t think they should be sold to kids 12 and under in all honesty. I wouldn’t wish what we went through on our worst enemy. It was awful.”

During the inauguration of President Donald Trump, his wife, Melania Trump was by his side, but ever since, it isn’t clear if she’s spending any time in the White House.
The truth is that the First Lady has opened up about her stay in Washington D.C. following her husband’s win and told Fox News, “I will be in the White House. And you know when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on January 20, you serve the country.”
That her son Barron is her top priority isn’t something the public isn’t familiar with.
While Trump attended the Super Bowl and was the first ever sitting president to attend the game, Melania wasn’t by his side.

She, however, was seen accompanying her husband to Los Angeles last month, where she was seen comforting victims of the wildfires. A video clip of her posted on social media, in which she was heard speaking Slovenian to a woman, received widespread praise.
“Seeing Melania so much more involved this time around is amazing,” one user wrote, per the Irish Star. Another added: “When we speak to people in their native tongue they feel heard, they feel listened to, they feel the love! What an incredible First Lady.”
A third stated: “First Lady Melania Trump speaks her native language to comfort those devastated by the wildfires. Even in a ballcap Melania shows her beauty and grace.”
Melania Trump has been absent from the White House during Trump’s meetings with prime ministers and other influential political figures, and now a source claims that she’s busy filming her Amazon documentary, as per People Magazine.

The source said her absence from the spotlight shouldn’t come as a surprise, because “this is how she lives,” adding that she “will never be a traditional first lady” and has “her own ideas on what she wants to do.”
Melania has only been to the White House recently because the shooting she’s busy with required so.
“Melania has been busy shooting her documentary and that has taken place in several locations, including the White House,” a Miami political source told People.
The idea behind a documentary on her life came after her memoir titled Melania proved to be a huge success.

Speaking to Fox, the first lady said, “So I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film about my life. My life is incredible. It’s incredibly busy and I told my agent I have this idea so please go out and make a deal for me. We started the production in November and we are shooting right now. So it’s a day-to-day life. What I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have, people they don’t really know and they will see it.”
As per the CNN, Melania attended the Governors Ball. However, she hasn’t undertaken any official First Lady duties.
“[Donald and Melania Trump] both live at Mar-a-Lago and have quarters in the White House,” the source said. “But she leads her own life and joins him when appropriate in either place,” adding that when she is in Palm Beach, she “keeps to herself” but does accompany Donald to dinner “on occasion.”

According to author Michael Wolff, who’s been critical of the president, Trump’s campaign staff “didn’t even know where Melania lived.”
“She doesn’t live with him. They spend very little time together. Whenever she’s at the White House or at Mar-a-Lago, it’s like she’s a guest. She basically lives in Trump Tower now,” he said on the Daily Beast’s podcast.
He concluded that at the Republican National Convention, Melania “would not sit next to him … Her one appearance on the last day was contingent on him not being in the VIP box.”
The president isn’t happy with authors and magazines writing of his relationship with his wife, threatening to sue those citing anonymous sources.
While Donald and Melania didn’t comment on Wolff’s accusations, Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, was clear about his opinion of the author.
“Michael Wolff is a lying sack of s*** and has been proven to be a fraud. He routinely fabricates stories originating from his sick and warped imagination, only possible because he has a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain,” Cheung told Newsweek.

While many wonder where she is, Melania did make a public appearance on April 1 at the Women of Courage Award Ceremony.
She was welcomed with a loud applause, wearing a leopard-print dress.
Melania delivered a remark at the ceremony, saying: “Love has inspired me to embrace forgiveness, nurture empathy, and exhibit bravery in the face of unforeseen obstacles.
“Today, we celebrate courage — a strength that is based in love,”
The First Lady added: “We are honored to join an exceptional assembly of brave women who have shown their love and refuse to let fear or hardship define them. Their collective achievements and dedication move us all.”

The exact reasons that lead to stomach cancer are not known, but researchers argue there are factors that increase the risks of developing it.
These factors include being older, being overweight, struggling with infections that are left untreated, and smoking, among the rest.
According to Cancer Research UK, “Infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) causes around 40 out of 100 (around 40%) stomach cancers in the UK.”
It is a bacteria that lives in the mucous which lines the stomach and spreads though contaminated food and water. For some people, this bacteria will not cause any issues, but for others it can cause inflammation and stomach ulcers, risk factors of developing stomach cancer.
According to NHS, the early symptoms of stomach cancer are mild and hard to spot, usually because they are also related to other conditions. They include persistent indigestion and heartburn, rapped wind and frequent burping, feeling very full or bloated after meals, and persistent stomach pain.
Symptoms during more advance stages of stomach cancer may include blood in the stool, loss of appetite, and weigh loss.
However, when it comes to stomach cancer, research believe that certain blood types are more prone to this awful disease than others.
Findings of a recent research, those with the blood type A, B or AB could be dramatically more likely to develop some types of deadly cancer, Daily Mailreports.
The study conducted on 50,000 Iranians showed that those with type A, B or AB blood — around half the UK population — have a 55 per cent higher risk of developing stomach cancer, compared to those with the O type.
Other research suggests that those with the AB blood type had a 45 per cent higher chance of developing liver cancer. The same research found that people with O and AB blood types have a lower risk of pancreatic cancer. In the UK, O positive is the most common blood type, while AB negative is the rarest, making up only 1% of the population.
How and why the blood type is related to the risks of developing certain types of cancer is something researchers are yet to determine.

Austin Metcalf, 17, was tragically stabbed to death at a champions meet on April 2. Reportedly, he died in his twin’s brother’a arms.
Austin, who was a junior athlete at Frisco ISD’s Memorial High School in Texas, got into an argument with another student, allegedly over a seat, at the David Kuykendall Stadium, before the student stabbed Austin in the chest.
According to Austin’s father, his other son, Hunter, Austin’s twin brother, witnessed the incident and tried to help his brother, but nothing could be done.
“They were twins, identical twins. And his brother was holding on to him, trying to make it stop bleeding, and he died in his brother’s arms,” the devastated father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
“I could see all the blood, and I saw where the wound was, and I was very concerned, so I had to find his brother, and we rushed to the hospital. And we prayed, and it’s God’s plan, I don’t understand it, but they weren’t able to save him.
Austin’s mother, Meghan Metcalf, recalled the tragic moment she received a call about her son being stabbed to death.
“[Hunter] was there when he was stabbed and he was holding the wound – he was trying to save his brother,” she told news outlet WFAA.
“I think he said he saw when he took his last breath before the CPR came back in. From what I heard, [Austin] was unresponsive for five minutes, they were able to revive him a little, but. It was too little, too late.”
Heartbroken Hunter added: “He didn’t deserve it. I know people that lose their family members all the time, but I just didn’t know it would be mine so soon. My best friend, my brother, my whole life.”
According to the family, Austin had never met the kid who stabbed him before.
The suspect was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
We are so very sorry for this devastating loss.

His 89th birthday rolled around. This day of the year, once filled with laughter, cakes, and chatter of loved ones was now just a distant memory of the life he once had.
The ravioli, still steaming, stood in front of him, but he couldn’t even take a bite. He remembered some happier times and couldn’t understand why the calls from his children and grandchildren became so rare, almost nonexistent. They did call and visited at the beginning, but now, they were all busy with their own lives and no one seemed to remember their old, fragile father.
“When they brought me here, they said it was for my own good,” he once told the nurse at the nursing home. “But I feel like I was left behind.”
This old man wasn’t mad. He chose not to hold grudges – he simply felt sad that no one remembered him anymore, not even on his 89th birthday.
He knew all to well that his family was busy working. They all had hectic schedules, but still, he didn’t ask for much, a single phone call would be enough.
He was sitting all by himself, with the clatter of utensils against plates.
The truth is that this man’s story is just one thread in a vast tapestry of forgotten lives.
The loneliness of the elderly is a subject we sometimes tend to avoid because it makes us feel uncomfortable, forgetting that these people were once everything we had – the only people we could rely on, look upon, and trust.
And now, they are surrounded by strangers, and that’s not what makes everything sad. The sad thing is that we don’t call them as often as we should and we don’t visit them as much as they expect.
It’s true that love moves fast, but we should never forget that our time with our parents and grandparents is running out.
One day, they’ll no longer be around, and we’ll miss them unconditionally. When that day comes, we’ll understand that we could do more, but it would be too late.
Today, take a moment to make that call!
