After nearly 90 years, a new queen consort would be crowned in Britain when Camilla, the wife of King Charles would be officially handed the role. The much-awaited coronation is set to take place on May 6, which happens to be the birth date of Archie, Harry and Meghan’s son.
When late Queen Elizabeth was crowned in 1954, over 8,000 guests were in attendance at the coronation, and 129 nations were officially represented. King Charles is now allegedly planning to significantly reduce that number on his coronation, according to reports.
The coronation, which is given the code-name “Operation Golden Orb,” will take place at Westminster Abbey, conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
The statement regarding this special event Britain hasn’t seen since June 2, 1953, when Queen Elizabeth became the head of monarchy, states that King Charles’ coronation “will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
Further, the statement reads that “The Coronation is a solemn religious service, together with an occasion for celebration and pageantry.
“Across the Coronation Weekend, there will be further opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion. On Sunday, May 7 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle by the BBC and BBC Studios, with several thousand pairs of tickets to be made available via public ballot,” Buckingham Palace added.
“The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbors and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.”
When it comes to Camilla, it is safe to say that her role in the royal family is a crucial one.
In a 1994 interview with Jonathan Dimbelby, then-Prince Charles revealed that he had been unfaithful to Princess Diana. By that point, Diana herself had spoken about it – but it was the first time Charles had confirmed the rumors.
Shortly after, Dimbelby released the authorized biography about Charles, published in the Sunday Times in which he wrote, “That they loved each other was not in any doubt. In Camilla Parker Bowles, the prince found the warmth, the understanding, and the steadiness for which he had always longed and had never been able to find with any other person.”
Back in the day when Britain, and practically the entire world learned of her affair with then-prince Charles, she was resented by the Brits. Many accused her of being the reason for the failed marriage between Charles and Diana, and they weren’t away from the truth.
Speaking to OK Magazine, royal expert Angela Levin, author of the 2022 book Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall: A Royal Survivor, revealed that Camilla had to endure “torrents” of mistreatment from the public as the affair was revealed. She didn’t even go to stores but had her friends running her errands for her.
Over the years, however, the people of Britain learned to love Camilla and her reputation has been growing.
A recent photo of Camilla, taken on Wednesday when the couple hosted a reception celebrating British East and South-East Asian communities at Buckingham Palace, confirms what we already knew of the Queen Consort. Namely, on the photos posted on the Royal Family’s Instagram account, Camilla could be seen smiling. It is very mush obvious that she is content with her life as a royal.
Many people took their time to comment on the photo which was captioned, “Guests at the Reception encompassed a plethora of fields, including the Armed Forces, the Arts, Media, Fashion, Business, Government, Finance, Healthcare, Faith organizations, charities, and more.”
Some of the comments were, “Queen Camilla looks so happy and radiant,” and “I love seeing the King and Queen with their family.” Others wrote, “Love their smiles!” and “Queen Consort looked lovely!”
