The story of an 18-month-old girl who beat the odds and survived despite everyone thought she was living her final moments is nothing short of a miraculous one.

When parents Lee and Francesca Moore-Williams noticed that their baby daughter was loosing clumps of her hair, they got worried for her health but doctors told them she probably had asthma. However, things turned for the worse during a family holiday in Spain when little Bella started loosing energy and was slipping in an out of consciousnesses. The family returned back home and Bella was admitted to hospital.

Her condition didn’t look promising. All of a sudden, she couldn’t breath on her own and was put on a ventilator. The MRI scans revealed severe abnormalities across both hemispheres of her brain.

As the parents were told there was nothing that could be done to save Bella’s life, they made the heartbreaking decision to turn the ventilator off. Before that, they said the final goodbye to their little angel and brought in members of the family to see Bella for one final time. They even took a photo of them, their five-year-old son, and Bella to have it as a memory of their little bundle of joy.

As they turned off the ventilator, they stayed by Bella’s side, and that is when the girl started breathing on her own. To everyone’s surprise, her oxygen levels rose to 100%.

Later, Bella was diagnosed with Biotinidase deficiency — a genetic disorder that affects just one in every 60,000 births. The deficiency can be fatal if left untreated but will now be managed safely with tablets.

Five months after she was admitted to hospital and her parents believed they lost her forever, Bella was discharged and sent home. She started walking and is thriving. Doctors say she is around eight months behind other children her age but she will definitely catch up as she is a bright young lady.

“I now feel a lot of guilt for bringing family members there to say goodbye but I didn’t know that at the time,” Francesca said.

“I will never, ever forget that moment where I had to say goodbye to my daughter.”

Bella showed she is a fighter. It is truly incredible that she recovered.
