Mother and daughter die at the scene after their vehicle plummets 70-feet to the ground from ocean cliff

A mother and daughter lost their lives after the SUV they were driving ended up plunging off of a cliff in Bodega Bay. The vehicle plummeted 70 feet to the ground as other drivers witnessed the horrific incident taking place.

The two women were identified as Maria Teixeira, 64, who worked as a lead custodian at Montevideo Elementary, and Elizabeth Correia, 41, who was a teacher of 16 years at the Lydiksen Elementary School in Pleasanton.

According to the report the California Highway Patrol has released, the mother, Teixeria, was the one driving the vehicle. According to witnesses, the SUV collided with a log barrier at the parking lot after which it didn’t slow down or stop.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Teixeira’s son, and Correia’s brother, Tim Correia, took to Facebook to express his grief over the devastating loss he suffered. “There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled now. I’m so grateful for them and the time we shared. They will forever be part of me. I love you mom and sis,” he wrote, as reported by People.

An investigation regarding the cause of the fatal crash is still ongoing.

Rest in peace. Our hearts go out to the grieving family.
