Trump’s COVID-19 condition was more severe than it was revealed at the time – Doctors considered putting him on a ventilator, reports say

One thing that the coronavirus taught us is that no one is immune to it. This contagious virus that spreads with incredible speed can affect everyone, and no one knows what the consequences might be. Some only have mild symptoms, and for others, it can be deadly.

Former president Donald Trump was tested positive for COVID-19 in October of 2020. At the time, he compared the virus to a flu and only spent three days at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, before he was transferred to the White House.

Many believed that what Trump had to say about the virus was careless knowing that the U.S. is one of the most affected countries by it in the world with more than 26 million cases reported and 464,000 deaths confirmed as of February 11, 2021, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The New York Times reported how the president was treated using an experimental drug cocktail injection and the antiviral medication Remdesivir.

His physician, Dr. Sean Conley, spoke of the president’s condition but didn’t reveal much. In fact, on the day he was admitted to hospital, Dr. Conley said the president’s situation was not severe, but the next day he revealed details he previously concealed.

“Late Friday morning when I returned to the bedside, President had a high fever and his oxygen saturation was transiently dipping below 94%,” he was reported saying. “Given these two developments I was concerned for possible rapid progression of the illness. I recommended the president we try some supplemental oxygen. See how he’d respond. He was fairly adamant that he didn’t need it.”

Citing an anonymous source, allegedly a person close to Trump, CNN reports that doctors even considered putting the president on a ventilator after he was found to have lung infiltrates which occurs when “the lungs are inflamed and contain substances such as fluid or bacteria.”

At the time, First Lady Melania was also diagnosed with COVID-19.
