16-year-old girl loses her life in a car accident – Her mom finds letters in her room after her death

Macy Mathis was unlike most teenagers. Although she was just 16 years old, a period of the life of children when they think they know everything, tend to get into arguments with their parents, and refuse anyone’s help as they believe they are old enough to know what’s best for them, Macy was very close to her family. And as her peers enjoyed spending time with friends, this sweet young lady loved being at home with her mother whom she loved the most.

But life is many times unfair, and Macy lost her life after being involved in a car accident.

Her mother, Cindy, couldn’t get over the pain the loss of her daughter created in her heart. This heartbroken mother was hoping for a closure as it was almost impossible for her to continue with her life without getting one.

But then, weeks after Macy’s death, Cindy stumbled upon something that helped her ease her sorrow, even a little.

Macy was writing letters for different occasions, and Cindy found all 25 of them. Some were for the sleepless nights, and some for the everyday problems her mom was facing. But one of them said, “Open when… you miss me.” Cindy started shaking. She couldn’t find the courage to read her sweet daughter’s words although she knew that the envelope contained the closure she was longing for.

When she finally gathered some strength, Cindy read the letter which said, “Hey mommy. I’m sorry that you’re missing me. I hope that wherever you are or whatever you’re doing you’re okay. I’m probably missing you too. I honestly don’t like being away from the house for too long. I get homesick pretty easily. When I was little and lived with Dad, I would look forward to being with you.

I think some of it was because you always had good food at your house, but most of it was because I just missed you so much. I will always and forever love you, Mommy. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. Macy Mathis”

Those words touched her deeply. She now had something from Macy to hold on to.

Cindy shared the letter on the Facebook page she created to honor her daughter, Macy’s Journey, and wrote, “This one was so hard to open. You don’t know how much mommy misses you! There is not a second of the day that goes by and I don’t think of you. You are my rock, my best friend, my everything, ” Macy’s mother writes. “We love you so very much babygirl!! Mommy misses you more than words could ever express! Goodnight my sweet, beautiful angel.”

The bond between Cindy and Macy was a strong one. We are very saddened Macy had to leave this world so young and we honestly hope her mother would be able to overcome the grief eventually, although that never happens when one loses a child. Rest in peace sweet soul.
