Wife of man who was deported to ‘world’s worst prison’ due to ‘Trump admin error’ shares an emotional statement

Donald Trump passed an order that required 238 supposed criminals – American immigrants – to be transferred to what is known as the “world’s worst prison” in El Salvador. Among those who were deported was a Maryland father Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia.

He was sent to the Center for Terrorism Confinement (CECOT) in El Salvador by mistake.

As immigration officials admitted making a mistake due to an administrative error. Then, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump’s administration must ‘facilitate’ Garcia’s return to the United States.

US District Judge Paula Xinis said Garcia was seized “without any lawful authority” and held “without legal basis”, in “direct contravention” of US law. She referred to his situation as to a “grievous error” that “shocks the conscience,” BBC reports.

However, to this man’s family’s despair, this seems easier said than done.

Following an alleged meeting between Trump and El Salvador’s leader, Nayib Bukele, it was determined that Garcia’s potential return to US is up to Bukele, who isn’t willing to do such a thing.

“I hope you’re not suggesting that I smuggle a terrorist into the United States. How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Of course I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous,” the El Salvador leader said.

“We just turned the murder capital of the world to the safest country the western hemisphere. And you want us to go back into the releasing criminals, so we can go back to the murder capital of the world, and that’s not going to happen.”

Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia is indeed an immigrant who came to the States aged 14. However, in 2019, a US immigration judge had granted him legal protection from deportation due to gang threats in his native country.

Ever since his deportation to the “world’s worst prison,” Garcia’s wife, Jennifer Stefania Vasquez Sura, has been vocal of his situation and the injustice that has been done to him and his family.

“I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn’t forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home … they miss their dad so much,” she said.

According to The Telegraph, the US government claimed Garcia is a wife abuser, not an “upstanding Maryland” resident.

the Department of Homeland Security revealed that Garcia was handed a restraining order against his wife Jennifer Vasquez in 2021.

His wife, however, claims that she sought a restraining order out of caution because of a previous violent relationship.

“After surviving domestic violence in a previous relationship, I acted out of caution after a disagreement with Kilmar by seeking a civil protective order in case things escalated,” Vasquez said

Further, she claimed that things didn’t escalate and they didn’t take the matter to court. On the contrary, following the incident, they marriage only grew stronger.

She added that she wouldn’t stop fighting for her husband’s return to America.
